Underwhelming and unambitious. instead of remaking and expanding the original, they took the best parts of the original game like puzzles, game choices, classic locations etc. The game's antagonist was an upgraded version of RE2 remake's Mr. X but it feels like the nemesis is more Mr. X from the original resident evil 2; He mostly always appears in scripted parts of the game rather thanUnderwhelming and unambitious. instead of remaking and expanding the original, they took the best parts of the original game like puzzles, game choices, classic locations etc. The game's antagonist was an upgraded version of RE2 remake's Mr. X but it feels like the nemesis is more Mr. X from the original resident evil 2; He mostly always appears in scripted parts of the game rather than actually being stalked around the city like remake Mr. X and OG Nemesis. Is the game's gore censored? I can't shoot limbs off of zombies. The game is also too linear, there's almost no freedom to explore like the re2 remake and the original games. The QTE feels so forced and out of place and ruined the final boss. Nemesis NEVER shows up without a cutscene or some kind of forced quick-time event sequence. This wasn't what I was expecting. One of the Worst parts of the Nemesis character is the final encounter...u don't lure the antagonist in front of a giant gun...you just press a button and the game's cutscene destroys it for good. You can even take him out with a grenade!!!! He's that easy. The whole was easy.
The second worst thing is the pacing...the game is JUST TOO SHORT. It's shorter than the original.
Not entirely bad, it's rich in graphics, environment and tone, game mechanics and new enemies and enjoyable action game. Unfortunately, this is mostly a recycled game not worth $60, I enjoyed Resident Evil 5 more than this.
Now the very that gives me flashbacks of Dante from 2013's Devil May Cry: Jill Valentine. Jill had a great voice actor but was boring as hell in this game, she went from cute but resourceful go-getter who has deep empathy for others but will kick your ass if she has to a one-dimensional hard-ass who swears like a sailor and takes no crap. She has a couple of moments of levity, especially with Carlos which is nice but she's just tough and stoic, generally boring and unsympathetic telling Nemesis to suck it. I find most of her badassery feels forced and cringe. I thought RE5 Jill was bad but this is even worse, she is now an all-powerful badass who can carry a large rail gun despite being in a smaller thin buddy. I hope the Jill picking up the railgun thing becomes a meme like Chris punching that boulder in RE5.
All in all, I want my $60 bucks back.

This game is incredible. The pacing, the gameplay, the characters, every aspect of this game is incredible. It is a little too short compared to RE2 and the price is a little bit high for a 5-hour game but it has a lot of replayability and it is super fun to play.

I was hoping that for this remake it would at the very least fix many of the glaring issues that the original had, if not completely improve upon the few unique ideas the game had. Instead, this game feels less like a fully realized sequel and more like an expansion to Resident Evil 2. The Nemesis system needed so much more balance, because as of right now it feels completely random. The Nemesis system needed so much more balance, because as of right now it feels completely random. The game feels way too short for the price, and this is because so much content was stripped away from the original. The game just isn't as fun to complete as RE2, and is just as bland as the original RE3 was. There are so many reused assets and locations from RE2 that you would be pardoned to mistake this game for a DLC! There's not enough interesting things in this game to even warrant its existence, and I can only hope that RE4's remake doesn't suffer the same fate. Expand

I feel ripped off. I paid $60 for what felt more like a 3-hour RE2 DLC. There were no improvements to inventory, weapons, etc. In fact, there were downgrades. It is telling its own story and its own point of view about the Umbrella incident back in 1998 and gives the opportunity to new players to experience the events in a more modern and more realistic story and walkthrough. Another great addition are the "coin" boosts. You can really customize your play style if you are willing to sacrifice a storage spot. So, even beyond normal, hard, and even harder modes, you can tweak the difficulty from within there with the coins.

Jill and Carlos' characters are generally well done, neither too invincible, too weak, too arrogant, nor too obnoxious as are characters in many modern games. The Mikhail villain is a bit overly one-dimensional, though.

The upgrades and rewards systems are likewise actually attainable without being ultra-expert level player (like RE2R required) nor playing for a million hours. With moderate to generous repeated gameplay, you can achieve enough weapon kills and other reward points to unlock funner stuff — including the RE trademark infinite weapons which always make for a fun playthrough. There's also a very fun fire knife called Hot Dogger that won't ever break and will set enemies ablaze briefly with every strike.

It's not a bad game just a bad remake! So much cut content, Clock Tower, the Grave Digger, etc. And the worst part is how they did Nemesis, he only chases you around in the first part of the game, and then he only appears in scripted moments, especially during the game’s second half. If you've never played the OG RE3 then you'll love this game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Resident Evil 3, while not terrible, is both worse than the original Ps1 game, and the Resident Evil 2 remake, which is a crying shame, because when the game is good, it's very good.

Resident Evil 3 is a remake of the ps1 game of the same name, and to this day, the only ps1 Resident Evil I've actually played, which is good, because while I've heard both REmake and RE2make can be both appreciated as standalone games as well as remakes of two classic titles, I can say with absolute certainty that that is not true for RE3. The main issue is obviously the length. Playing the game on Normal (before it got too hard for me and I had to move it down to Easy because I suck) the game lasted me about 4 hours, and that's with dying several times on almost every Nemesis encounter and exploring the game thoroughly for items, Where a single run of the original game lasted me about 6 hours, still not a huge amount of time, but where that becomes an invalid argument, is when the Choices come into play. Resident Evil 3 had the occasional story choice, which could alter gameplay drastically, even leading to several endings, the survival of certain characters, and a cameo by everybody's favourite character, Barry Burton. This remake however, has none of that, it's a linear experience from point A to B with little to no replayability. Resident Evil games have always been short, but they've also always had extra content and heavy replayability. RE1 had two characters and different scenarios for those characters, RE2 evolved that by having both characters stories happen at the same time with two different orders, giving you 4 whole ways to play, an RE4 had Mercenaries but was also notably longer than your standard RE game at the time. 6-13 hours is what I generally expect to get out of my RE games, taking my lack of skill into account, and depending on the playable character count. I really think RE3 remake dropped the ball on its length, but even a short game can still be great, and unfortunately RE3 stumbles there too.

Nemesis is iconic, there's no two ways about it, his "STAAAARS" line is bone chilling and instantly recognizable, his horrible grotesque face is horrifying and exciting all at the same time, and the way he runs at you, genuinely scary in the original, even with its primitive graphics, so did they accurately reflect and evolve that like with Mr. X in the last game? Nope, not even slightly, he's way worse in fact. Whereas Mr. X was an ever present threat who could jump out at any moment and mess your day up, Nemesis is relegated to scripted sequences, making him an entirely linear threat, and therefore making him very unthreatening. He's also kind of a joke, in the original you could fight him and get a gun part out of it as a reward, but it was HARD, he was a force to be reckoned with and wouldn't go down without a fight, it made him scary because there was choice, it activated your fight or flight mode, but in the original, one grenade and he's down for the count, so disappointing. It doesn't help that Nemy doesn't even get any S.T.A.R.S kills, which is his only job, where he killed Helicopter Pilot Brad Vickers in the original, this time Brad is bitten by a zombie while Jill runs, and while I appreciate the attempt to redeem Brad for leaving his partners in the first game, it means Nemesis doesn't kill any S.T.A.R.S members because the remaining S.T.A.R.S all survive to appear in later games, so Nemesis looks comically incompetent.

I don't hate this game though so I would like to say something nice. The final boss is badass, especially Jill firing a Railgun, it totally should have obliterated her ankles, but screw it, if Chris can punch boulders, Jill can fire railguns. I also like Carlos a lot here and his relationship with Jill, I miss his accent but he's better in almost every other way, the other Umbrella operatives are also great, Nikolai is as threatening as ever, Mikhail's final stand is great, and I also found myself really liking Tyrell, Carlos' friend, who I wished got more to do before the end.

Overall, while not bad like I said, RE3 is the worst of the Remakes and the far worse that the original, it's a game I thin you should play, but only at a heavy discount.

I carry a deep regret just imagining what good this game could have been, but this company managed to let me down, expected an expanded and totally revamped story like Resident Evil 1 Remake, and paid my money for a shallow story, missing a lot of scenarios and totally lazy. I completed both RE2 Remake and RE3 Remake in 6.5 hours, but RE2 Remake does have multiple campaigns while RE3 Remake is just the one. I have some complaints, Nemisis was irritating at times, it was a bit short lived and a bit more combat would have been good. A few sections where you are focused on clearing zombies would have added to the length and satisfaction overall. As the gunplay in RE3 R is perfect, your not OP and always on the back foot making the wins feel very relieving. Its just as Survival horror combst should be. This game has received alot of critisism and most is fair, I guess the floors are wirse for some than other. I liked it.

Nemesis is just a walking trashbag. Hes is boring as he gets, 1 granade finnishes him off...Atleast in the orignal game he was something to be feared after he killed off Brad, would you fight the monster or run, not knowing when he may apear next?... Instead Jill trashes him like some ordinary zombie.

Why does Nemesis need weapons to kill Jill? He can just grab her and crush her head.... but no, that won't happen, lets change it into boring action fights instead. Nemesis can smash a concrete wall with ease, but a door stops him, what the hell?

Jill acts like a feminist, not needing help of any man. Her original outfit is replaced by a boring casual outfit, her original outfit atleast looked interesting and unique.

Carlos hair looks stupid.... why change it....

I can't imagine paying full price for this. Fortunately, I waited until it was $20. It lacks that grounded atmosphere of Resident Evil 2 REmake. In RE2 REmake, if a room has two zombies in it and another has a five, you make a mental note and constantly strategize the safest path to progress. In RE3 REmake, you either zip by zombie encounters with an explosive barrel or finicky dodging, or you may find yourself passing through a room of zombies and when you return, it's empty. RE2 REmake's moment-to-moment combat just feels better to play.

RE3 REmake is also absurdly short. I was able to beat it in less than 5 hours on standard difficulty and even quicker on hardcore mode. There are no other game modes included - however, there is a separate free online game, Resident Evil: Resistance, but that's a whole other 20+GB download (and, technically, a separate game).

The original Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (1999) is by far the most unsettling, intense, and haunting chapter of the original RE trilogy with very good pacing and exploration. It took what came before and injected steroids into it. It was also quite heavy on action, but not overwhelmingly so. What this 'reimagining' did is it got rid of the former (exploration & pacing) and overdosed on the latter (action). Just as Nemesis was removed from the title of the game, you might as well argue he was removed from the game entirely since he was reduced to an extremely scripted occurrence. What the players were teased with was open worlded exploration of Raccoon City as you'd be relentlessly chased by a Mr. X-like enemy. What ended up happening is that you're constantly being pushed in the direction you're supposed to go in an extremely streamlined version of the city (about 50% of the original locations are missing) and the player is incessantly bombarded by scripted action sequences that require barely any input from them to get through besides pressing "Up." A massive disappointment and a travesty considering the price Capcom is charging for what essentially feels like a DLC. Expand

I hate how little space you have here in resident evil 3.. sure you can find upgrade pouches, but it just never feels like enough space, especially when new guns can take up multiple spaces and even quest items take up spaces which really just shoulnt be a thing in any game… though it does add to the scarcity feeling, do I ant this ammo or do I want to keep my healing items… its just as a map cleaner, its annoying..
Overall though I enjoyed Resident Evil 3… if youre going into it expecting more resident evil 2, you wont get it..youll be disappointed in its length and more action feel..resident evil 3 like every other resident evil its its own experience and I for one like that.. Resident Evil Resistance also comes with resident evil 3, but ill be reviewing that mode separately.

That's roughly twice the price of a standard DLC pack which is essentially what it is. At least 50% of the content is recycled, even the animation for the vaccine machine! If I had paid £60 I'd be asking for a refund. That's why my review score is so low. Redeeming factors are Jill, Jill's ass during prone scenes, Jill cutscenes, Jill and Jill. Nemesis went from awesome to ridiculousness in less than an hour. If he can survive being actually disintegrated in acid he better be coming back in a later game after being nuked. Also considering the fact it was an air detonated nuke and he was underground in a lab that's just poor writing. I actually found 1and 2 believable. I can't excuse 3, maybe 22 years ago? In my opinion, this is a brilliant edition that added a whole new spin to the game while preserving certain moments from the good old RE3 that we all remember.

I definitely enjoyed playing it, and more importantly, I appreciated the face lift and the new changes that were introduced. The remake enabled me to play my old beloved RE3 once again after all those years, and on a much superior platform, while keeping me intrigued by "what else is new here". However, I feel that a few crucial events, moments or encounters from the old RE3 were missed or dismissed in the remake, and this was hard to ignore within the short play time that the remake has to offer.

This game could have offered a lot more, but I was short and sweet, and definitely worth playing. Thanks to the legends of CAPCOM and I look forward to more remakes!

They cut major sections of the game (clock tower), Nemesis doesn't feel like something I have to watch out for, the puzzles are non-existent and the level design is lackluster especially when compared to the original's level design (one level is literally just two parallel streets that are connected by a donut shop, and that is supposed to fill in for an entire sprawling district). The game is also extremely linear and plays more like a movie with the cutscene to gameplay ratio. They also cut out Mercenaries Mode. Overall the gameplay is good but doesn't make up for what it lacks. Definitely a game to buy when its 20 dollars, but not 80. Expand

Only 3.5 hours on my FIRST playthrough is disappointing, to say the least. I'm glad I bought it on sale and didn't pay the full price! It's alright, although not as good as the remake of 2.

All the extremely negative reviews with 0’s and 2’s have become an undeserving bandwagon. RE3 remake does capture the feel of the original. It makes me assume that these people aren’t familiar with the original RE3.

For those of you familiar with the RE2 remake but are on the fence with RE3 remake, don’t be. It modernizes the original RE3 in the same way that the RE2 remake modernized

For those of you familiar with the RE2 remake but are on the fence with RE3 remake, don’t be. It modernizes the original RE3 in the same way that the RE2 remake modernized its source material. The original RE3 was faster-paced and a more action oriented, shorter game compared to the original RE2. It bridged the gap between RE2 and RE4, leaning more towards RE2.

They did cut content is about the only legitimate complaint. Start to finish, RE3 make is only a little shorter than original RE3. The launch price of $30 is a little steep considering the cut content. But now the price is $30-40 which is perfect.

What’s here is fantastic. Even though it’s a complete remake, it captures the magic and feel of the original. Just as they did with RE2. The replayability is very high and the pace is noteworthy. I can’t recall the last time I played a game with pacing as good as this. Just as RE2 was my game of the year 2019, this is my game of the year 2020. 9/10

Peter Fabiano really needs to leave the Resident Evil franchise...
This is the worst remake ever! It doesn't look like Resident Evil 3 anymore... just some 5 hour bullsh*t! And the cut content... Don't make me talk about that please. This game sucks.

It looks great but this is a major disappointment after the phenomenal job Capcom did with RE2 Remake. It's shorter and has less replay value than RE2. Nemesis is actually a downgrade compared to Mr X. It actually has less content than the original RE3 which suffered from rushed development back in the day.

This game made me very unhappy. I was so disappointed in this that I have no words to express how much. I can sum it up by saying cut content!!!!

This remake, seems to be what developers were looking to make back in 1999 and for some instances even more.

The most notorious overhaul is its gameplay, using the 3rd person perspective that the series has been using for a long time, is hard to go wrong. Even when they are slow, zombies move erratically, and it's not as easy to make headshots, so you want to take your time while dealing with them since ammunition is somewhat scarce.

The evade action is back and thankfully, it is now a unique button to activate it. Foes telegraph their movements with manageable clarity, however, a type of enemy that appears in the middle of the campaign can be unfairly punishing as it is pretty quick and their attack patterns too irregular. Nonetheless, this mechanic is useful and fun to master.

Nemesis is still a force to be reckoned with, so you will likely run from him whenever he appears or attack him with grenades to get useful loot. Since the camera is not fixed and you have better mobility, these encounters are a little easier than the original so, they also threw zombies to limit your space. I also like that all the boss battles are focused on Nemesis, and every time you beat him he's angrier in the next one, it makes this "rivalry" more organic as if Nemesis is trying to kill Jill not only because he is programmed to but because of a grudge, it’s not only better handled but it makes the plot moving forward.

I never felt like I was being stalked or chased by Nemesis ever. Each time he appeared was too obvious and unsurprising that it felt scripted, not that in the original you couldn’t tell when he was going to attack but here, the clues are way too evident. Still, his chases were fun even when you were waiting for them to start.

Normal difficulty is a little challenging but not too much to the point that you’re most likely see a few continue screens here and there, but also not so easy that you’ll be wandering around as if you owned the place. Ammunition and health items are kind of limited but I didn’t encounter a time where I needed bullets. Here’s where the new remakes try to balance horror and action and at least for this game, in particular, it is in a safe middle ground with a small lean towards action, so in the end, even when it is good, it never excels with the horror nor the action. Yet, as I say, it plays in a comfortable middle ground, so it is still a great time, just maybe a little too comfortable.

The story on this remake is more or less the same, but it has some tweaks that made it more appealing to modern sensibilities, you will also find some differences between the original and this game so “veterans” will get some new stuff too.

The length of the campaign is similar to the original: short, depending on your difficulty and your experience with this type of game you'll likely complete your first run in 7 to 9 hours, so it is a short game compared to other AAA or big studio games. The game is also "bundled" with a download for a multiplayer complement called Resident Evil: Resistance, on which 4 vs 1 player matches take place, the premise sounded interesting but playing it was another story, it didn't help that all the other players were always too experienced and I was always the novice, so I did quit after some runs. I imagine this was Capcom's way to justify a $60 USD price for a game so short, I don't prefer this type of complements as in a few years when the servers are down you will no longer get access to it, but I imagine that other people would prefer it, so that's that.

It may sound that I didn't like this game but I did enjoy it quite a lot, the things that I don't like are trivial for the most part, I'm not sure it is the definitive version to play part three of the series as it offers a lot of new stuff while cuts other from the original, but I prefer this remake better, it sure plays it safe but it also looks like a lot of the original intentions that couldn't make the cut were implemented while it maintains the original's essence. I don't think that its short campaign will appeal to everybody, but it has an arcade aura that challenges to play it faster and better that is kind of hard to not do it because of its short length, I still don't think that's enough to a $60 ticket, but I'm not an arcade person. As far as remakes go, this one might be one of the most respectful out there that also builds and propose new stuff from the source material, while maintaining its spirit. It is not hard to recommend it to both newcomers and veterans to the series, the plot is more centered on character development than its lore so is easy to pick it up and play without any before knowledge. Even when it has things I don't prefer, I like where this new direction is going and with some refinements and tweaks, I believe the future entries and remakes could achieve a true horror and action experience.

Remake meia boca.

This is an excellent game. The gameplay is refined and the campaign flows well. Jill is well voice acted and her character design is great. The nemesis was the highlight of the game and the chase sequences are well made.
My only criticism is that the game is short and feels more like outstanding DLC than a substantial game.

Este juego solo tiene valor en sus gráficos.
    La jugabilidad es paupérrima.
Mas para la generación del «ratón-historieta» será excelente, pues están en el mismo escalón.

It's a super cozy and short experience. I wish they added some like great CLOCK-TOWER content in the game, but honestly, it's all good and the game play and style is fantastic.

I've been missing the cheesy B-movie greatness of the Resident Evil games so it was fantastic having this one just commit to it. Not perfect, not the longest game ever but damn, I found it incredibly enjoyable

Even though it is a very successful game, you will feel a little disappointed. Compared to the remake of the second game, this one often loses its pace and it is impossible to get rid of the impression that there could and should have been more to this game. [Issue#303]

After a stellar remake of an arguably the best Resident Evil game ever made, Capcom has let down our expectations by giving us a more scripted, more linear survival horror action game that will probably be forgotten like so many sequels that have gone the path of less resistance when it comes to game design. RE3 make feels more like a DLC than a full-blown game.
