    To be honest, I was always sceptical when it comes to jRPGs so it was this time as well. When I heard about Persona 5 I thought that "oh man, it's another Japenese RPG, full of weird things, anime style etc.". But I could not be more wrong. This game is a masterpiece. I took me ~100h to beat this game. I admit, that after 50-60h of game play, it started feeling a bit boring, the gameTo be honest, I was always sceptical when it comes to jRPGs so it was this time as well. When I heard about Persona 5 I thought that "oh man, it's another Japenese RPG, full of weird things, anime style etc.". But I could not be more wrong. This game is a masterpiece. I took me ~100h to beat this game. I admit, that after 50-60h of game play, it started feeling a bit boring, the game became repetitive, but when I started getting close to the end, and the main plot was on the first plan, I could not stop playing. It was interesting, every mistieries started becoming clear, and the amount of feelings and emotions I felt during the ending is indescribable. It felt so satisfying, that I am looking forward to play Persona 5 Royal now.
    The music. The music is definitely the best part of the game. It was selected perfectly for each scene.
    The characters were also well written, on the first page you think that they are some annoying teenagers, but in the end I felt really sad, when I finished the game, that I will be no longer the part of the group with them.    … Expand

    a complete disappointment. unlikable characters with uninteresting quests. lame story. good soundtrack and battle system. but comparing it to persona 4 is a step down in every level

    By far one of the best JRPG's I have picked up in a long time. I'm a little late to the game but I am not regretting it at all, so much so that I have replayed it more than once along with trophy hunting, which I only do with games that I greatly enjoy. The graphics of the game are supremely amazing along with the dialog and the reactions of the characters throughout the storyline. The combat is amazing as a turn base system seeing how a lot of old classics are removing turned base now as well. Don't get me wrong I love having freedom and mobility in combat but there is just something so special with turn based games. Persona 5 took great advantage of the turn based combat as well, no spoilers but truly they did amazing with the way they made things. The characters are each their own, with thier own personality and development which is nice to see. Over all the development, the game play, the style, and the art just bring together everything. I was caught from day one in the game and it just got better and better.… Expand

    Absolutely amazing the combat is better than perfect it's turn based but unique and much better than any other turn based combat games. The story is absolutely brilliant so many little details were filled like how you bond with the characters which is extremely fun and if feels like you are actually there it's amazing how well the characters are done. the story is just amazing.     Persona 5 es uno de esos JRPs que si lo juegas dejan una huella tremenda. Desde la pantalla de introducción hasta los créditos, el juego te acompaña con una BSO brutal, incluyendo el Battle Theme que yo he escuchado en toda mi vida (junto con algunos temas de batalla de Kingdom Hearts).

    El sistema de combate es buenísimo, y el hecho de que dispongas de tantas combinaciones de personas    Persona 5 es uno de esos JRPs que si lo juegas dejan una huella tremenda. Desde la pantalla de introducción hasta los créditos, el juego te acompaña con una BSO brutal, incluyendo el Battle Theme que yo he escuchado en toda mi vida (junto con algunos temas de batalla de Kingdom Hearts).

    El sistema de combate es buenísimo, y el hecho de que dispongas de tantas combinaciones de personas y sets de habilidades hace que te obligues a ti mismo a farmear personas y mejorar sus sets de habilidades para encontrar tu acompañante perfecto.

    Lo único que extraño un poco es algún tipo de minijuego cuando te encuentras explorando la ciudad (exceptuando el baseball y el minijuego de pesca), pero no es algo que empañe la experiencia de juego, ya que a medida que vas explorando los distintos barrios de la ciudad, vas conociendo a distintos personajes que harán que el juego se vea más real.

    No es necesario haber jugado a ningún otro Persona anterior para poder disfrutar de este juego, por lo que no hay excusa para dejar escapar semejante obra maestra.

    Llegará subtitulado al español en pocos meses, así que no habrá excusa para dejar pasar semejante joya.    … Expand

    I do not believe any game can truly be perfect enough to attain a 10/10 score, however due to the lack of any scoring system without whole numbers on Metacritic, I feel as though this best represents my thoughts.

    My thoughts on Persona 5 are best summed up with one sentence. I truly do believe this is the best game ever created.     My thoughts on Persona 5 are best summed up with one sentence. I truly do believe this is the best game ever created. This is not just for the RPG genre, but for the wider industry.

    The most striking aspect of Persona 5 can be found in its artstyle and design. It may seem as a somewhat vain form of praise, but the design is truly outstanding. System menus are a joy to navigate just for seeing their designs. The world and character models may be simple, but are viciously effective in their simplicity. The music is perhaps the best the series has ever been blessed with, Shoji Meguro at his absolute best. Character portraits are appealing to look at. Every aspect of this game's art and design is an absolute joy, it is something you must see to truly understand.

    Gameplay feels the strongest that the Persona series has ever experienced. The dungeons in Persona 5 feel far more varied than the TV World or Tartarus in prior games. The only flaw Persona 5 experiences in this regard is in the form of Momentos. This was the one area of the game in which I felt fatigued when exploring, but this mostly due to a desire to return to the game's wonderful story and social aspects.

    Speaking of social aspects, Persona 5 replaces the Social Links of old with the new Confidants. Although, this is more of a renaming phenomenon than a real overhaul in terms of design or mechanics. Regardless, social activities in Persona 5 are just as enjoyable as they have been in previous games. I felt genuinely invested in the issues which certain characters were facing, and felt fulfilled when they reached the end of their arcs. There is not a single Confidant which stood out to me as especially boring or uninteresting. Some Confidants involve characters which are not central to the story, which may reduce the investment some people have in those characters. However, I found all the Confidants I explored in both of my playthroughs to be fun, entertaining and engaging.

    A natural progression from this point would to talk characters. Persona 3 and especially 4 are well known for their colourful casts, and Persona 5 is no exception. I'd argue that this is the series at its best. Through the use of the previously discussed Confidants, characters feel fleshed out, believable and interesting. The dynamic between the main cast of characters feels so natural it is hard to explain through words. It feels as though this is a real group of friends that could exist in the real world, if they could steal hearts and stuff of course. Good character development comes hand in hand with a fantastic storyline. I do not wish to discuss this in detail here as a result of the upcoming changes in Persona 5 The Royal.

    If I could give a more accurate score to Persona 5, it would be 9.8/10. I do not believe it is possible for any game to be perfect. However, I believe Persona 5 is currently the best game you can buy with money right now. This is no exaggeration. I had been a long time Persona fan prior to the release of Persona 5, and to have all of the hype pay off in such a meaningful way was an incredible feeling I have not felt since. I give Persona 5 a 9.8 in the hopes that one day a 9.9 game will best Persona 5. It may not be a Persona or Atlus game that does this, but I believe there is room in the future for an even better game than Persona 5. However, at this time, Persona 5 is my most favourite game of all time.    … Expand

    A solid game but highly overrated. There is a good turn based system, the visual style is there, but lets be honest: seeing Persona as the pinnacle of JRPG nowadays is at least misleading.

The characters, the world, voice-acting, the artdesign, the MUSIC - OH MY GOD THE MUSIC IS SO **** GOOD. With the Persona-Series you have a JRPG-Timemanagement-Monstercollecting-Lifesim-Game. I lost 10 hours on my first palace because the game never explains what a calling card is until you are nearly finished. You need to use a calling card for every palace which will take an extra day before your deadline. THIS IS NEVER STATED ANYTIME BEFORE. What the hell.READ THIS BEFORE PLAYING.     Hands down my favorite game of all time.
    I would write a more fleshed out review, but I firmly believe that going into this game completely blind like I did is the best thing you can do for yourself.
    The game isn't flawless, as nothing can be perfect, but it's personally very close.
    Get this game now if you even vaguely love RPGs, I assure you that you will not be disappointed.

    Как по мне это лучшая часть Persona 5 которая вообще выходила. В ней просто всё идеально, да есть минусы для некоторых фанатов P3 и P4 но это не говорит что и они плохие. В общем, я каждому советую сыграть. Игра показывает множество проблем в обществе а также в Фантомных Ворах, поэтому берите не пожалеете!Как по мне это лучшая часть Persona 5 которая вообще выходила. While the game has its slow monotonousIn short, Persona 5 accomplishes two things: (1) it re-imagines turn based combat and evolves it to be fun/fast/stylish/and strategic in todays's modern gaming landscape, and (2) it delivers a unique story that is aimed at mature audiences with well written characters that are believable and fun to befriend throughout the course of this 100h+ journey!     Best.Persona.Game.Ever (IMO)


    Great Gameplay,Great Characters, Great Story and a Great Soundtrack, when i played this masterpiece,it surprised me a lot about how good this game is, Persona 3 is my Second favorite of the series,3 and 5 just blows out the other games of the series on my honest opinion (sorry for my bad English, I'm Brazilian :/)

    Solo te diré, juégalo aunque es cierto que para públicos de habla Hispana se necesita un buen nivel de Ingles para jugarlo, por todo lo demás te aseguro que el juego te encantara de principio a fin.

    This game isn’t fun. Isn’t for everyone and might seem boring and too long. But I still love this game. Story isn’t interesting for most of time, but isn’t boring too. Dialogues are so natural (especially when you’re high schooler like me). Gameplay is something you probably have seen in other games like old ffs (gameplay, walking and beating creeps) and pokemon (catching personas). AfterThis game isn’t fun. Clocking in at over 100 hours, it's an epic adventure that features a fantastic cast of characters that will stick with you long after you've beaten the game. It's a combination of a sim like elements with RPG dungeon crawling that is addicting. Clocking in at over 100 hours, it's an epic adventure that features a fantastic cast of characters that will stick with you long after you've beaten the game. Now, do note: It uses classical turn-based gameplay, but it perfects the formula and adds a bit of Pokémon like elements to the mix. The story is very well written, although it can get too overly dramatic at times, but if you're used to more insane plot-points and Japanese like writting you won't have an issue with this. Visuals are amazing, yes it can't rival AAA games in the technical graphics, but what it lacks in raw-horse power it makes up with an amazing art direction. The music is just heavenly and surprisingly the voice acting as well. My only gripe with the game is that the pacing is off. I would have preferred it not to be at times boring and just have a good balance of normal sim-life and action gameplay. Overall: If you've been looking for a Japanese RPG in the past decade that will consume your life for at least weeks on end - and at the end feel like you've played one of the best in the genre, Persona 5 will not dissapoint.… Expand

    I've never played a Persona game. I bought it based on rave reviews and had no idea what to expect beyond game play videos on Youtube. Turn rpg is boring and outdated. The game is very slow- you don't see combat for several days. Pop-ups interrupt you every 5 seconds. The game also give you fake diol huge options where you are given various ways to say the same thing, “say yes, say II've never played a Persona game.     I got the game about a week after joker was confirmed to be the first dlc fighter in smash. and holy **** did I not know what I was gonna get myself into. the story is amazing with one of the best twist I have ever seen in gaming. the game play is also amazing combining dungeon crawling with a jrpg and a life sim. the characters are also amazing and it really made me want to explore theirI got the game about a week after joker was confirmed to be the first dlc fighter in smash. and holy **** did I not know what I was gonna get myself into. the story is amazing with one of the best twist I have ever seen in gaming. the game play is also amazing combining dungeon crawling with a jrpg and a life sim. the characters are also amazing and it really made me want to explore their confidant story. I don't really know what else to say except that this is a must buy for anyone who has ever breathed. the opening can be slow (as it is a jrpg) but if you stick with it, the game becomes a beautiful piece of art. thank you Atlus for the best experience I have had while playing games. The social themes of the game, as well its dungeon crawling game play aspects are amazing, polished and addicting. Its like the epitome of all good elements of the series inserted in one package.
    But for me, the game suffers from some narrative issues it get from P4. Like    Persona 5 can be considered Atlu´s Magnum Opus on the 2010´s. Its a great game, that hooks you up since the beginning. The social themes of the game, as well its dungeon crawling game play aspects are amazing, polished and addicting. Its like the epitome of all good elements of the series inserted in one package.
    But for me, the game suffers from some narrative issues it get from P4. Like how constant the game presses you to make your things in the time limit.
    Some of the social links are not so good as the last ones, and i would like Mementos to be more complex to explore. But again, if were not for this issues, Persona 5 would be easy a 10/10 game.    … Expand

The length of the main story is over 80 hours filled with enjoyment and surprise. Regretfully, the gameplay in later game period lacked polishment more or less. The repeating maze design made me really upset. But this is the only flaw I could find in P5. It is an amazing game for almost every single person.… Expand

It's a powerhouse of a game that leaves an impression that I haven't forgotten, two years on. The sheer amount of content and the quality of it is jaw dropping. The writing is as amazing as it comes. A beefy, engrossing story that delivers intrigue and entertainment in equal measure. The game also is filled with some of the best characters I've ever interacted with. The characters are so well developed and each comes with an arc that helps to truly connect with them. Visually, it's stunning with a gorgeous style and the U.I. of all things is god-tier. The voice-acting is great and the soundtrack is one of the best games have ever seen! The gameplay is also so damn good. Refined, turn-based combat mixed with tons of flare and strategy at times. You've also got a whole other segment where you develop relationships and improve your stats in the regular world in order to strengthen your combat capabilities which is a fantastic feedback loop between gameplay and story. And, on top of all of this, the game is a linear campaign with around 100 hours of content. So, yeah, it's pretty wild. Complaints are minimal like a few difficulty spikes but this game is just so damn good and deserving of all the praise it's received! Definitely check it out!… Expand

    I started playing Persona 5 without any knowing about the shin megami tensei or persona franchise and haven't played the predecessors, but the game has flashed me away. The exiting story about the mental shutdowns, the amazing Press Turn Gameplay with soooo many possibilitys for combos. Im totally hyped from this game and it "takes my heart" in the very long playtime of 140 hours.

    This overrated JRPG sells itself with its aesthetics and music. Sure its colorful, eye-grabbing, and pretty looking, but much under the surface there is deep ugliness.

    The gameplay is nothing special, after many hours, it gets repetitive and un-challenging. The music is the one carrying the experience. I dare players to play this game for 2 hours without music. You'd be surprised how P5's music shaped your experience. While doing so, pay attention to the bad script and writing.

    P5's story is bad, the worst I've seen. Walking anime-stereotypes, moronic villains, try-hard funny scenes, and very cringe worthy dialogue.

    The narrative is packed with hypocrisy and obnoxiousness. You'd think this game would help outcasted members in society and help the vulnerable, but in fact it does the opposite.

    1. Excusing Child Pornography

    The Phantom Thieves excuses a case in Futaba's confidant, her friend Kana. This game tries to tackle mature themes but does an awful job. How can a game like this be praised, when it excused child pornography. The PTs telling the offenders to just "be better people". Wow, true justice delivered.

    Apparently, child sex-exploitation is a "light" issue to be taken account of.

    2. Homophobia

    Demonising male homosexuals and mock them. The LGBT community in Japan is suffering, and this game encourages it. As of recent news, P5 Royal still contain these scenes. Atlus had three years to remove these scenes for their remake, yet they didn't.

    This goes to show, the developers hold certain views against this marginalized community.

    3. Anne's Sexualization and Humiliation

    Did one horny developer wanted to jack off to Anne's humiliation so badly? The game plays it off that she's this "strong empowered woman, who owns her body", but it really isn't.

    She's forced into uncomfortable situations: A. Pressured into stripping for a stranger B. She and her friends got pressured into wearing swimsuits under the request of her friend Ryuji (ironic) C. None of her friends defended her when she was getting groped, they all stood and watched.

    And oh yes, P5R introduced bunny-suit Shiho, a victim of rape, another controversial addition. Double-down with cheap shock factor and titillation.

    4. Lack of Consequence

    PTs are not heroes, they are a gang of teenage vigilantes. The game urges you to support the "good guys" and shouts that in "what they are doing, is not wrong". However, as the plot-holes pile up and the hypocrisy builds, the PTs notion of justice is in fact, deluded.

    How can one support a group that forces individuals to change. The PTs strip away people's identities and their free-wills. No matter how evil a person can be, should this be considered acceptable? No one calls them out on it, apart from Akechi, but even his reasoning is stupid.

    The game also paints that every person holds this "secret guilt" of their evil actions. Do you really think a man like Kamoshida, actually feels guilty of abusing his students? The game showed he took delight of his power, made him an unlikable bastard. IRL, there are people who exist, who holds no regrets of their bad actions, isn't Kamoshida one of those people? Persona 5, tries so hard to make villains sympathetic, shove it in our faces that "everyone has a conscious", but fails to do so. The justifications of many of the evil targets are also downright stupid.

    Clearly no heart was put into the plot, all of that budget went straight into music, visuals, and waifus.

    What is Persona 5 actually teaching? To excuse inhumane actions, encourage stigmatization of a discriminated group, sexualizing victims of sex-abuse, believe that "all adults are evil" and their core message..."Fix up society, by changing hearts" with force.

    Video Game journalists should be ashamed of themselves for overlooking these flaws. The morals conveyed in Persona 5 are problematic, hypocritical and shallow.    … Expand

    One of the best games I've played period.
    Combat is near perfect for JRPGs. Characters while not the best ones in the series still really good. Story is good. Graphics are amazing. There are quite a lot of small details that are not good but in a 100 hours game it doesn't really make that much of a difference

    Persona 5 is a wild ride. The soundtracks are amazing, the characters are unique and it keeps you busy for as long as well over a 100 hours. Even if you finished the game there's a lot of replay value because of dialogue choices and maxing out certain stats and abilities. Persona 5 is definitely the King of JRPG's!

    Despite the 10/10, this game isn't perfect. The story really drags around the 5th palace and the characters aren't as deep as the ones in Persona 4. But so much about this game is fantastic to the point where I don't care. The characters are still fantastic, the gameplay is fun, the story is great, music is breathtaking, visuals are gorgeous.

No amount of praise or love could even come close to how much I deify the experience that this game gave me. 100 hours+ of just sheer magic that can only be conveyed through this medium. Characters so well written and likeable they feel less like the protagonists friends and more like your own.     The story is very interesting and detailed, characters are unique and fit perfectly within their roles as each of them have their own personas alongside their personalities which relate to them. Never played a turn-based JRPG before, but this really is worth a play. Recommended from my friend prqdgy

    An amazing JPRG that is solid. A pity its a ps4 exclusive, but it's a very enjoyable one. For those who havent got it yet, just hold purchase until the Persona5 Royal gets released, it will be a far more complete game.

It has - life simulation, RPG elements, JRPG elements, farming Personas, making money, upgrading combat items etc. The combat system is great, especially when you can remember all the 'Weaknesses' of PersonasI am 60 hours into the game and only at the 3rd palace! The most endearing, engrossing, visually impacting thing I've played since prime-era Final Fantasies, Persona 5 has cemented itself in my hall of fame.

    Half turn-based RPG, half life simulator, there's so much content to enjoy in Persona 5 it is extremely overwhelming to begin with. Deciding what to do on a day-to-day basis, which characters to spend time with, what social stats to work on, is anxiety-inducing to begin with, but this game really just needs to be experienced. Guides etc. ruin it, so I found myself having the most fun when I just went with my gut and did what felt right. The story sees you trying to fit in and survive at a Tokyo high school by day, while infiltrating the unconscious mind of criminals at night, in an attempt to change their dastardly ways by 'changing their heart'. Thing get very dark in places, taking me aback many times, but the characters involved are truly special. At first appearing to fulfill the standard cast of anime stereotypes, every main character gets time to shine and develop believably as things progress. Crises of identify, mental breakdowns, heartbreak, hope and new aspirations drive the narrative, and the cast's development ties closely in the the story. The mysteries of the narrative last until the final hours of play and pacing is helped infinitely by the calendar system ticking on nicely.

    Speaking of which, little did I think a game about time management would be so enjoyable. Days are divided up into portions. You go to school Mon-Sat daytime but after school and the evening are yours to do whatever you wish. Hanging out with one of the 20+ 'confidants' boosts your bond with them (with knock on skills and perks attached as well as side-stories). Activities like reading, shopping, crafting, cooking, making coffee, playing baseball, working a part time job and so much more boost your character's social stats which in turn open up different confidant advances. As I said, deciding what you want to do is overwhelming, but it's best to just do what you want as every single thing is hugely enjoyable.

    For the JRPG elements of the game, there are dungeons (called Palaces) in-game which are tied to each narrative chapter and the criminal involved. Exploration is straightforward and battling is turn-based, but the real focus is, of course, on Personas. There spirits can be collected (there are ~200 of them) and each have their own attacks, skills, elemental affinities, buffs and spells which the main character can use against enemies. You can have 8 to 12 on hand at any time and they can be fused together to make better and better options. Collecting and fusing is so addictive and battles are tactical, brutal in places and require a lot of careful moves. An ambush by an enemy at any point in the game can be fatal. I cannot undersell how well-designed every single Persona is, they need to be seen to be believed. Penis monsters, incubus, angels, Hindu goddesses, ghostly samurai, dragons, gnomes, you name it. An optional randomly-generated seemingly endless dungeons provides grinding spots and catch-ups for all previous Persona. Using your and your teammates' elemental strengths tactfully to bring your enemies to their knees is key to battle and highly polished and addictive.

    Finally, the main selling point of this game...the design. I have truly never played anything that looks like Persona 5. The graphic, illustrative way everything (pause menus, text boxes, maps, item screens, battle menus, save screens, cutscenes, day transitions, phonecalls.......) looks is mind-blowing. Bold, colourful, punchy and totally unique, this is the pinnacle of stylish game design and sets it apart from all the grey, grim, realistic games which are so favoured these days. Add in to this great voice acting, a FANTASTIC soundtrack and an insane amount of attention to detail in every Tokyo street, shop, dungeon and environment,

    This game is outstanding. It's like playing your own anime, every bit as ludicrous, over the top, fun and melodramatic as you imagine. But something that took my by surprise is that it's also quite relaxing. The chilled music, going for coffee with characters who you truly learn to know and love, exploring what I've heard is a very accurate portrayal of Tokyo and basically living a second life is so freeing, so escapist, that it's a joy to play after a hard day at work. And then you get mauled in a battle and realise it's also not for the faint hearted. But, beware...it will suck your life from your very existence.     I have played it for 120 hours so it is is clear that I enjoyed it. It is 120 hours of story, no generic side quests. And if you have been to Tokyo, you will visit many familiar places here.
    However, the game has a few major flaws.
    1) You cannot take screenshots which is sad. I like to take pictures in games just like during travels - to retain memories. Now my memories of Persona 5 will    I have played it for 120 hours so it is is clear that I enjoyed it. It is 120 hours of story, no generic side quests. And if you have been to Tokyo, you will visit many familiar places here.
    However, the game has a few major flaws.
    1) You cannot take screenshots which is sad. I like to take pictures in games just like during travels - to retain memories. Now my memories of Persona 5 will fade in a few years. It would be understandable a few weeks after release as a protection against spoilers. But after two years, when entire game is on Youtube? Come on..
    2) The soundtrack is very repetitive. There is just a few songs that you'll hear 1000 times. For example, in the Cafe Leblanc which serves as your homebase and you'll spend a lot of time there, there plays this: [search "Persona 5 OST - Night Rain (Vocal Version)" on Youtube]. The song is quite nice..at first. But not for 1000th time. And things will get worse - during almost all battles you'll hear this stupid disco: [search "Last Surprise [With Lyrics!] (Persona 5)" on Youtube]. Again, and again, and again, for the entire 120 hour playthrough. Annoying for the second time, equivalent of waterboarding for the 1000th time.
    3) There is a lot of text in the game. A LOT. It is an equivalent of National Library. You are dragged from one conversation to another and you cannot avoid it so you just mindlessly press X to advance. "Auto-advance" feature in the settings applies to just roughly half of the texts. Sometimes you have 3 choices of answer but in most cases all three have the same meaning. And the worst part - most of the texts is just a filler and contain nothing of interest. The characters just comment on obvious things, again and again. On everything you do in the game.
    You enter a safe room:
    Character 1: "Finally we can rest a bit" (press X)
    You leave a safe room:
    Character 1: "We have rested and now let's get back to work" (press X)
    Character 2: "I'm looking forward to kick their butts" (press X)
    Character 3: "The dungeon is big but we are halfway through" (press X)
    Character 4: "Yeah, let's go, Joker!" (press X)
    You take a sh*t and wipe your ass:
    Character 1: "This is awesome! You can use this paper to clean your ass!" (press X)
    Character 2: "Sugoi! I like that." (press X)
    Character 3: "I wish I had such paper to clean my ass" (press X)
    Character 4: "We have such paper at home. You don't?" (press X)
    Character 3: "No we don't." (press X)
    Character 5: "Let's concentrate on our quest. Once we steal the treasure, we'll buy a lot of toilet paper" (press X)

After the game won the best RPG in 2017 and even a nomination for game of the year, I was pretty interested but didn't own a PS4 at the time. After then buying a PS4, I remembered the game when the main character was added to Super Smash Bros Ultimate,Just to clarify, I have never played any long JRPG or RPGs in general. After then buying a PS4, I remembered the game when the main character was added to Super Smash Bros Ultimate, a game I had been anticipating since March. After playing the game to its completion, and crying my eyes out about 3/4 of the way through, I've realized how amazing this game is. From the shining colors to the music that's too amazing I can't stop listening. Then there's the UI. The UI should be put in a museum its that stylized. And if you're concerned about the story, it has twists and turns, with certain scenes that really have a lasting impression on you, and let you connect with the characters. The combat is also very interesting since it's half of the game. Being a slice of life/visual novel some days and the infiltration JRPG battles in the other. Personally, I find that the music, the subtle sound effects whenever you go into menus, and the flashy attacks make the JRPG formula of standing around and hitting people from a few feet away, make it a lot more satisfying. But one of my favorite parts of the game is how you manage your time. Maybe one day you hang out with a friend called a confidant, which gives you the upper hand in battle, like instantly escaping a battle if you so please or letting you start the battle with a barrage of bullets. This makes the visual novel aspect play into the dungeon-crawling JRPG aspect. If you love JRPGS, a riveting story, fun combat, and a beautiful presentation, you need to play this game.… Expand

    An overall amazing game! The colour contrasts, the fun and enjoyable charactes, the story, the gameplay- which is the best idea of Japanese RPG- and the personas wrap all together and create a amazing yet almost campy game that can be enjoyed by anyone who likes RPGs.

I spent 120 hours in the playthrough and it never felt grindy and except for maybe the last 10 or so I was always discovering new things. This is definitely the best game I have played in years and possibly ever, I have been playing video games for 35 years so this says aIf you like Japan and Japanese RPGs I'm pretty sure you will agree that with me that this is the best game ever made. I spent 120 hours in the playthrough and it never felt grindy and except for maybe the last 10 or so I was always discovering new things. This is definitely the best game I have played in years and possibly ever, I have been playing video games for 35 years so this says a lot. Everything is spot on and so balanced, it shows it age and development time a bit in graphics, but apart from that I can't imagine how to make a better jrpg, simply amazing....… Expand

Difícil um jogo com campanha me manter preso por 120 horas completamente viciado. The Witcher 3 mesmo pra mim se tornou secante depois das 30horas

    The story of this game is actually no joke a thing of beauty. The story of persona games have always been an amazing journey they just deliver the damn best possible "anime-ish" story with amazing twists and moments.
    The story of persona 5 revolves around the protagonist who was framed for assaulting a man for no reason. When in actuality this certainly wasn't the case. I won't spoil the main stuff of the story for you people! The first few hours of the story may not feel masterclass quality but after like 5-10 hours you'll be hyped and ready and so willing to spend all your time on this game because the game's story is so good that it makes you curious with great twists and awesome villain figures, and when I say awesome villains I mean it. The villains are portrayed so well that you literally would want to punish them asap. There was this one villain which I didn't hate that much, he's actually the second villain in the game. I thought he wasn't that hate worthy! Near the end of his palace I found out about something absolutely he did that was absolutely notoriously and enraged me...Then there is that one villain "boy" who I ABSOLUTELY loathed. The game somehow managed to even make me feel some "pity" for him. As you might've guessed by reading the stuff I said that the game actually handles its villains masterfully. The true and canon ending of the game is super satisfying and the bad ending is actually trash. I recommend you definately do the true ending because it the canon one(thank God).

    Characters:
    The characters in this game are amazing and absolutely amiable. They are portrayed so damn well. There is not a single main character who I can hate, might've hated Ryuji at some moments but I like him as a whole in the game. Their voice acting is just uff I can explain how excellent it is, it is simply ineffable!! It sounds so damn good like so damn good, the English version and Japanese version both but I believe the English version is truly the superior one. The protagonist of this game Joker(Akira) is truly an amazing character. He is my second most favorite persona protagonist right after Door-kun(Minato/Makoto), his costume is so damn sick and he actually speaks plenty in the cutscenes and during gameplay that it feels very great to me. His signature persona Arsene is cool as heck...I had the DLCs so I actually mainly used Izanagi, Asterious and Messiah later on I started using other DLCs legendary personas. I actually heavily recommend the DLCs.
    The confidants of the characters are actually quite lacking if compared to the previous personas. There are no actual confidants for Akechi and Sae Niijima they just automatically level up through the story. The best girl Makoto Niijima actually has quite possibly one the worst confidant in the game, her confidant literally focuses on her talking about a girl named Eiko and stuff.The confidants don't express the character's as much as the the games predecessor persona 4 did. The confidant part is not as cool which I would love to see get improved in the Persona 5 Royal

    Gameplay:
    The gameplay is turned based combat which feels better then ever here. It is so damn improved and well that I who didn't think would like this type of gameplay much ended up liking it a lot..
    There are features when you knock all the enemies down, you can choose either to hit them with an "all out attack" or to loot them, you can also make them submit to you and become on of your persona. The soundtrack that plays during the regular fights, "life will change" is soooooo damn good to listen to. It is such a catchy song! The gameplay includes a new feature which give you the ability to use a gun which is amazing an helps greatly. The overall layout during the battle sequences is the best it has ever been and is amazing in general.

    Verdict: Persona 5 is one of the best RPGs out there and it takes you on a long amazing journey. There is a **** ton lot of content here and if you got the platform to play it on trust me this is a MUST PLAY!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The art style of the game is stellar, making the game stand out in a way that many games don't even try to. P5 also carries the tradition of great music to accompany both intense battles and mundane school life.

    The gameplay of Persona 5 is far and beyond the most refined the game has ever been. giving dungeons a unique layout does wonders in making them stand out and the theming of the dungeons does a great job at selling the high-stakes heist vibe. The party's Persona's are also nicely chosen, giving each character a rebel Persona to fit the band of misfits.

    My misgivings is the narrative and characters, which I feel are a step down from P4. The theme of P5 is freedom and rehabilitation. This works well with the prison motif of the Velvet room, but this theme seems disconnected with the idea of going on heist to stop corrupt adults. The characters, are also less engaging. The main problem is that Atlus wanted to use momentos in all of their story lines to help them with a problem. But the result is that you don't really get to know about these characters as well. For example, Makoto's storyline was focused on helping out her friend, which takes away from learning more about Makoto. Sojiro's story is also essentially a watered down version of Dojima in P4. This usually wouldn't be that big of a deal, but the characters is a main reason why I like the persona series and this made P5 feel like a disappointment.    … Expand

    I'm 40 hours in and I get the sense that's I'm maybe only about halfway through, but I think 40 hours is more than enough time to know what I think of any game.     My only complaint is that a lot of the dialogue is extremely overwritten, which is a problem that pervades most JRPGs I've played, and anime I've seen in general. I mean seriously, every JRPG I've ever seen can write the crap out of practically any mundane occurrence, but it's definitely worth sitting through in this case because the characters are brimming with personality.

    Edit: I just finished the game last night at 110 hours. Geez this game is insanely long, and I think that the absurd length is heavily due to how overwritten so many of these scenes are. But like I said, when a game contains this much personality and hidden depth, the extreme length is worth it if you're up for it.    … Expand

If you say this game is bad, that's mean you're just suck and have never played the Megami Tensei series. P5's story is kinda good and many side stories and stuffs based on the dark side of Japan.     If you like RPG’s you’ll love this game. It does take about 4 hours to get good though, but the entire game is about 80-100 hours of content.

    I bought p5 a year ago and just finally finished the game a few days ago i put in over 100+hours and still didnt manage to complete everything this game has to offer. The game drags towards the end and is the longest persona game to date. Definitely one of the best RPG's out there

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I love this game, between the dungeon crawling, stealth, and everyday life this game is perfect. This was first Persona game and it most definitely won't be my last.

    There were a couple small problems with the game that I got annoyed about when playing it. First off, was the save room distance in some of the later areas. I would get 1 more'd by a new enemy and die and be nowhere near a safe room, therefore having to backtrack for a little. my second problem was with the villains as the story went on.

    My thoughts on each:
    Kamoshida: This guy was horrible because it felt personal to me in the game and my friends, so I thought he really was evil and enjoyed taking him down
    Madarame: The game was telling me he was evil but I din't really feel it even after I had dealt with him
    Kaneshiro: I was just kind of dragged into this without feeling like he was evil at all

    This continued to slightly bother me, but I enjoyed the game nonetheless.

    This game 30hs longer than it should be, too much padding to hide how either underdeveloped some of its themes and story beats are. Good thing the game is filled with style to distract most players from that.

Implanting a turn based combat is hard nowadays but Persona 5 is able to make combat so much fun. The music, weakness mechanic, varieties of personas, voice overs, and battle animations makes grinding the dungeons much more tolerable. The non-combat life gameplay is also just as good. There's enough places from Japan, activities, and people to bond with to distract you each day since the game goes by day to day. The moodiness story gives the atmosphere a sad feeling but gets more joyful and intense as the story progress. I'm also fond of the characters and their (English for me) voice actors that are correctly spaced out throughout the game. Easily this game takes up 100+ hours to finish from start to finish and you will get addicted. Persona 5 is perfect for anime JPRG fans and I think even if you aren't, there should be something appealing you will get if you decide to embark on this long and rewarding trip. P.S: Can't wait for the Royal Edition to come out, which would probably enhance the game more than I think.    … Expand

    Persona 5 is an absolutely amazing game that convinces with its art style, music and story. It has anything one could ask for such a game and more. The turn-based battle system offers a wide array of opportunities. While it may not be everyone's cup of tea, it is definitely recommended to give it a go.
