Overhyped high school simulator. How anyone can even call managing your time between studying and doing laundry a serious '' best-RPG'' contender is beyond me. The only redeeming quality to this joke is its art aesthetics. 4/10 would shove a cactus up my rectum over playing this again. Expand

    Masterpiece.

No word encapsulates the experience of Persona 5 quite like the word masterpiece. The visuals, audio, gameplay, combat, combat, combat, combat, combat, and combat are so perfect. A perfectly executed game in every single area. Masterpiece, masterpiece, masterpiece.

You very rarely get hyped for YEARS over a game and when it releases it lives up to your expectations. Persona 5 is one of these miracles. Before Persona 5 I had never played a persona game so i wont be able to make comparisons. But let me tell you one thing, persona 5 is a blessing and well worth the delays that people had to endure.

Persona 5 takes place in japan and revolves around the protagonist who you can name yourself but he is referred to as Ren or Akira. I will refer to him as Akira for this review. The main plot of persona 5 is complex and hard to describe but easy enough to understand in game. Akira witnesses a woman being abused in the streets and steps in to help but is convicted of assault himself and placed on probation in tokyo with a distant relative. During a dream the following night his soul ascends into a world between dream and reality and he is told that to save his future and the whole of Japan from ruin he must reform society as a trickster. This is where the fun begins. The game revolves around Akira heading into places called "palaces". There is an alternate dimension named the metaverse which is where evil peoples visions come to reality. Only tricksters and persona users can enter this place. To reform evil people you must traverse the palace completing objectives and stealing the treasure or source of the evil desire. In persona 5 you live a double life, in the day you are a regular high school student, studying and wandering Tokyo in your everyday life, at night a phantom thief stealing the hearts of villains. In persona 5 you will gather a crew of people who have really creative designs. Ryuji is a rebellious troublemaker, Anne is a model, Yusuke an artist. The personalities go on but they gel incredibly. As a trickster or a persona user, just like how evil cognitions form in the metaverse, your personality takes a materialised form and you will use this to battle enemy personas or "shadows". The battle system is really like no other and is a turn based fighting style, you will have four teammates at any given time and you will take turns either using a gun, primary fire, or a persona move, using persona moves that an enemy is weak to will knock them down leading you on to endless possibilities in the fights. The battle system is the only battle system I have never gotten bored of so you know it's insane. Each palace takes a good 5-10 hours on average to complete each taking different designs and puzzles which adds a great sense of variety. Also the voice acting, persona 5 is one of the few games that actually has a good english dubs, no voice seems out of place and it fits. In the real world you have 5 abiltiies if you like, proficiency, knowledge, kindness, charm and guts. increasing these abilities will unlock new confidants and abilities to use in the metaverse. Confidants are people you have a bond with, hanging out with them in the daytime will increase your bonds and occasionally will give you new items or abilities to help in battle so make sure you hang out with as many as possible. My only problem was the hanging out with one person moves time on really fast, a simple activity such as reading will occupy half of the day meaning you will be rushing to get every confidant maxed out as the game really pushes you on as each day (as the game is mapped with a calender) is set with specific events. Persona 5 has the most plot twists i have ever seen and some events made me cry, laugh and smile with pure joy, the game really toys with your heart to the point that I was actually really upset when it ended. Some plot twists were jaw dropping others were predictable but fun all the same. The game does start slow however, the first hour of this 160 hour game (for me) was really vague, to any new persona player the first hour will be utterly confusing. Past players may have an idea of whats happening but new ones will be completely in the dark. Luckily after that first hour everything gets somewhat explained and new players will enjoy a smooth story game which is fun for everyone.

Another Amazing point is the soundtrack. All tracks seem very similar in style but all pack an amazing punch, the musical element really makes the game such as "life will change" and "last surprise"

The game offers a side quest mode too, Mementos, mementos is the palace of the general public where you will fight enemy shadows at peoples request, at the end of the game due to it being story driven and story only all side quests you want to do MUST be complete by the end of the game.

    Positives:
    -engaging lengthy story
    -bubbly characters
    -good va
    -unique and enjoyable battle system
    -fun everyday activities
    -mesmerising soundtrack

    Small cons:
-slow at start for new players

    Mixed feelings:
    -game moves very fast

The cons are really nothing to effect the overall rating as you can easily brush them off, small nitpicks on my part

I don't get why people praise Persona 5 so much, since, in my opinion, it's flaws are pretty severe.

Much of the dialogue throughout the game is horrible. No one speaks like these people do and it's very repetitive to boot. I think you could probably cut at least 1/3 of it without problem. The biggest source of irritation for me is the damn messaging. It's like the game doesn't trust

The biggest source of irritation for me is the damn messaging. It's like the game doesn't trust that it has made its objectives clear enough, so it has to hammer them into the player with lengthy and repetitive chat conversations.
Also, it may be a cultural thing, but what 16-17 year olds really consider themselves children and **** about bad adults? I know I didn't at that age. It made the characters seem like they were 12.
Furthermore, the game tries to be very edgy with "adult themes", but the character's childish behavior made it feel very disjointed.

I would say that the games best features are the battle system and game play in general.

For me this is easily one of the best games in 2017 (if not the best one).
I love story-driven games and this one is a diamond among them.

In addition, it features stellar art design, loveable characters, deep progression system and brilliant storytelling which makes a perfect example or proper pacing. Oh, right, and the music is TOP NOTCH creating the right mood at the right time.

Yes, i admit that the graphics are somewhat outdated for 2017, it's not Crytek with 100.000 polygons per one cm^2 of a character's face, it does not have complex material shading, but whatever. It does not need this to be an awesome story-driven game, and the art style completely makes up for the lack of tech.

I spent 100+ hours on my first playthrough and i'm a little dissapointed that i finished the game. Need more games like this.

If you are not particularly open-minded about the format and subject matter of your games, it's probably the only reason to keep away from Persona 5. The school days, some interactions with characters (particularly the romantic portions), and themes of the dungeons are probably too much for those looking for a traditional gaming experience.

It is fun, thoughtful, (somewhat) challenging, and slick. I was entirely new to the series and if I had anything other than a PS4 I would definitely go back and play the other titles.

I have small gripes about the game but nothing was able to persuade me to give it lower that a perfect score.

Story: The story centers around a group of high schoolers that get a mysterious app on their phones that allows them to enter another world. When they get to this world, they find out that they have a power called a persona that comes from their rebellious self. In this world, they are able to beat dark desires out of people they deemed to be evil. Once finished, the person will confess their crimes in the real world and get sent to jail. It sounds like a simple premise but it gets more complex as the game continues. You meet new people to join your group or you meet interesting and relatable side character that don't even know what you are doing in the other world. Throughout the story, you level up your bonds with these characters, making each one unforgettable. This makes for an amazing story with a large cast of characters that are memorable and that is impressive due to the large cast. You will be entertained from start to finish, just don't rush through the 100-hour story because you are bound to get bored if your only goal is the finish line.

Gameplay: The turn based combat is simple but complex. There are 10 different elements are used when you use an attack from your persona. Your enemy will be weak to one element but depending on what persona you have out, you will be weak to one attack as well. If you hit a weakness, you get one more turn with your character, or your enemy will get one more turn if he attacks you with a weakness shot. To upgrade personas, you can fuse them together or make your bonds closer with your friends by hanging out with them on your days off. On top of your personas, you will have your gun and your basic attack. In the real world, you can upgrade these by buying toy guns and weapons in the real world. They become real in the distorted world. All of this mixes together to make a flawless gameplay experience.

Technicals: The visuals are amazing and stylized. There is so much uniqueness in this game. Even the UI and menu look amazing and don't get me started on the gameplay visuals like the all out attack (which you can see below). The game runs at a smooth 60fps, no graphical glitches and this game has NEVER BEEN PATCH. That is a miracle is this day in age of gaming and should be commended for it. An amazing soundtrack that gets you in the mood for battle or in the mood to take it easy with your friends (Depending on what you are doing in the game.) This game is a technical marvel and more RPG should look at this game to be their new standard.

Conclusion: If you own a PS3 or PS4, this is a must game buy for most people. Some might be put off by too much story, but if you are able to become attached to the characters and you love turn-based combat, you will love this game. It looks great, it plays great, and it sounds great. Set 100+ hours aside and play what I might consider Game of the Year 2017, if nothing else comes along to dethrone it.

Never write reviews but just finished this game and it was too good not to write one. If you can handle playing a game for 100+ hours then this is a must play. Right now Im still suffering from post game depression due to how emotionally invested I had become with it. Best game on PS4 right now and a must buy for any jrpg fan.

If I had to describe Persona 5 in 5 words, it would probably be something like this:
Exception in its ultimate state. I have spent hours, weeks, months playing this game and I still need to process the greatness of this game. Being a big fan of both the Final Fantasy Series and the Shin Megami Tensei Franchise, I recommend everyone, even those who normally don't play RPGs, to play it.

So, I just got to 20 hours of playing this game, finished my second Palace and I don’t think I can play it any longer. I’ll start by saying that this is my first time with a Persona game and I really didn’t know exactly what to expect, but my expectations were pretty high with all the absolutely great reviews and feedback this game was getting. So I tried, I tried and I tried a little bit more to enjoy it, but I just couldn’t.

The graphics aren’t a problem for me. Although many people complain about them, being a port from PS3 and all, I don’t really cared too much about them. They were simple and, for the most part, beautiful. There is a lack of livelihood to the characters when they are standing somewhere talking, but for the most part you’re reading the conversations and it doesn’t matter. The transitions are stunning, as is the opening for this game.

The sounds of the game is something disappointing to me. I didn’t really cared for anything sound-wise here. The music is boring and lame. The voices and conversations are boring and that **** cat talking all the time is so annoying. I thought I would have a nice, well-constructed soundtrack here, but ended up getting something far, far away from that.

The gameplay is, for the most part, what you’d expect from a JRPG. The battles are nice. The turn-based fights are really fun and this along with the running around the dungeons are what made me play this 20 hours and not less. It was really, really fun. Even running around the city or the school finding new stuff and getting your stats up is a little bit fun, even thought they don’t come close to the battles. The problem is, 90% of the time that’s not what happens. You just have to click the X button over and over and over again because the characters simply won’t shut up. They keep talking forever about a billion useless stuff and you get stuck there, trying your best not to tell your console to go to hell and turn it off. It’s just plain boring. Even when they were just explaining new mechanics to me, I just wanted to kill everyone and I thought I was going to die of boredom because it goes on and on and never stops. And, again, that **** cat doesn’t shut up and it won’t let you do anything. No wonder this game is só **** long.

I won’t say a lot about the story because, as I said before, I played “only” 20 hours of this 100+ hour game and got through 2 of the, if I’m not mistaken, 7 palaces, which means I didn’t go too deep into it. It was kinda interesting and had potential, though. Teenagers who are in some sort of trouble and have to face society’s prejudices and people’s judgments and, at the same time, fight everyone’s worst sins and desires in order to try to make them better and everyone else to suffer less. Besides not being the most original or incredible thing ever, it’s interesting, although the characters themselves are really uninteresting and that becomes a huge problem when you spend almost the whole game just talking to one or another. It’s just sad that those stupid and pointless dialogues got me completely out of this.

I am disappointed. Disappointed because I totally see the potential of this game. Disappointed because I tried very hard and spent a long time trying to enjoy this game, just to be turned off by its enormous amount of meaningless dialogue, lack of actual choice of what to do and god-awful soundtrack. I tried to love you, Persona, but you let me down.

As much fun as dungeon crawling and collecting personas is, these moments are too spread out as the game DRAGS you through a mediocre plot and suffocates you with dialogue boxes. The game gives you the illusion of choice (like many games these days), but does it pretty transparently. While I can choose how I spend my time most days, in the end it just feels incredibly formulaic- you do an activity, or hang out with an NPC, and a stat increases. No skill is involved whatsoever. This also applies to the strategy around the battle mechanics. Barring the occasional enemy who is a snowman, all tactics are a guessing game. You just throw attacks against enemies and hope that they work. The core mechanics that make Persona so unique is there, I just wish Atlus would have made more improvements. Maybe the JRPG genre is no longer for this gamer, but Persona 5 is "check-list gaming" personified. Expand

The animation looks great especially the transitions from gameplay to cutscenes. Music is decent and the menus pop out of the screen with vibrant colours. But unfortunately the gameplay is repetitive and does not offer anything new to the series.

Characters are flowing with personality and the confidant system has been very much improved where in non party members actually give you some perks for battling in the metaverse if you level them up rather than just the usual buffs from persona fusion. Dungeon crawling is also miles better as it departs from the usual random generated floors with customized and well-crafted palaces with different puzzles and bosses that aren't just "hit them with the best attack until it dies". Though unlike Persona 3 and 4, there isn't a lot of memorable events in the game. The school trips, holidays, and school breaks doesn't take a break from the story. The protagonists either talk about their next target or whatnot where in past games actually gives time for some funny and memorable moments which I believe is a crucial part of Persona. Other than that, the story is fantastic as it tackles with corruption, sexism, etc. and is definitely has a more serious tone than past games. Overall, its an excellent game and is a must buy for anyone who loved RPGs, emotional drama, and has all the time in the world because this is a LONG game. Expand

As for minus side game can get bit repetitive sometimes, it has kinda similar formula through its whole run anyway. Also for me at least game was bit too easy on normal difficulty, I am someone already familiar with persona games so for someone new to games normal might be actually quite ideal difficulty, as hard difficulty on the other hand can be really punishing if you do not know what you are doing so this can be bit of an issue for some people looking for more challenge but not really understanding everything and having social links low level etc. xd as I could see someone getting too many game overs in such case. For me personally hard difficulty did offer really nice challenge though which will affect positively my score as I had much fun beating the game due to this.

While I would consider myself a fan of Atlus - at least a fan of their quality works - I'm so tired of this entry and the extremely low quality of its PS4 release that I felt this was a good place to give an adequate summation. If I ever get around to finishing it, I will update the review to reflect that, but as is, this release has left me feeling very bored and soured by Atlus in general. Seen enough to make a good call.

Overwhelming sense of "been here, done that", but I've also been playing SMT games since the 90s. Tons of recycled assets and concepts, while the soundtrack is new in general, I've heard repeats of tracks and/or segments of tracks I've already heard many times before. I get it makes sense, it's like how Zelda has recurring music, but it's the same reason that brand has more or less become dead to me now as well. Treading the same ground over and over and over again. Gets old!

The low score is largely based on the extremely low quality of this port, since this is clearly a lousy port of a PS3 title, which is another huge sore spot with this release. This was clearly a PS3-centric title in development that got a PS4 release with nothing to differentiate it but a resolution bump to 1080p and 30fps lock, which is quite easy. And while it is locked 30fps on PS4 vs the PS3 version's spiky performance (proven in videos) with a ceiling of 30fps, they could have made this 60fps which would have made it pop far more on the PS4, which could have easily handled this framerate - the textures are low quality, the LoD is low, the effects are low quality. It's all clearly a last-gen title with a resolution increase. They even kept in the lousy PS3 joystick deadzone size - massive, which plagued the entirety of the PS3s lifespan. Sony backed out of this error with the PS4, but Atlus couldn't even be bothered to polish up the port by making the deadzone tighter to reflect the newer control scheme. Again, it's a straight dump of the PS3 version minus the resolution bump and 30fps lock (both of which are really easy to do, the latter especially so since it's just the PS4 brute forcing the PS3-designed engine with better hardware) and they couldn't even take the extra 10 - 15 minutes to make the stick controls tighter. Sure, it's a JRPG, but you still have a character to steer and are still turning the camera plenty, while only about 10% of the joystick space is actually recognized. It matters and is very frustrating that they couldn't even be bothered to take that very small time requirement to brush this up.

Regardless how good the story may or may not be (there's a *ton* of dialogue bloat here however - again a symptom of the "bigger not better" development mentality), this is a PS4 release at a (at the time of this writing) AAA pricepoint. At that level, far more is to be expected, and at that level, it falls flat on all technical fronts. As far as gameplay is concerned, it's really just a watered-down old-school SMT - *severely* watered down, might I add - with a *ton* of story added on to try and cover up those flaws due to people becoming attached to characters, but all the typical anime-archetypes are here. In a nutshell, this is just another run-of-the-mill dark anime, but then it has JRPG elements to it and the Atlus flair to spice it up. Except it doesn't, because it's all so bland now. All they can do is go bigger, but going bigger with something bland isn't a good idea. It's spreading something tasteless over more space for people to chew and feel less of anything because that already tasteless spread is being spread over so much space, what is it anymore?

Would love to see a SMT Nocturne Remaster. 1080p with the PS2 motion-blur mask removed and HD font with nothing else changed. $20USD. Peak of this corner of the genre Atlus has carved out and it's clear all they can do is repeat themselves and go bigger. Not better. It's very telling how little they care about this property when they can't even take advantage of the modern hardware it *should* have been designed for with the simultaneous multi-plat release. Or delayed this release to give it a proper PS4 upgrade that could then get an ultimate release as an "Extended" edition (like P3 has FES and P4 has Golden). This PS4 release has "fine, here" written all over it, and nothing more. If it wasn't worth their time to do properly, it isn't worth giving them your money for something they didn't do properly to have your time wasted with something that's sub-par compared to their prior works anyway.

When I thought about this game while doing something else, the combat mode seemed a bit repetitive, but somehow, the combat doesn't disappoint. It's not just about turn-based combat though. It's also about making the best decisions in your RPG grind and a thoughtful story with character development.

It expands upon the ideas of persona 3 and 4 when it comes to activities such as playing video games, going to batting cages and as well as fishing. And the shadow world are like the two previous entries, but expanded upon. The Palaces are close to that of persona 4 only alot more work were put into them to actually make each one vastly more unique. As for Mementos is a better version of Tartarus. Persona 5's social links or confidants have also improve by been able to gain special abilities through leveling them up. As your able to give gifts and take most confidants to hangouts spots they might like to boost their bond with you.

WARNING: BE CAREFUL OF THIS GAME OR IT WILL BECOME A SECOND LIFE FOR ITS TO LATE FOR ME.

    THE BEST JRPG EVER MADE.

But seriously this game is what FFXV should have been. An enjoyable game with a good story and a good cast. GOTY 2017. If you haven't played Persona 5 then please do. It's the best JRPG in modern times

For me, i need 90+ hours to finish the first gameplay, i want to try play the new game+ but i dont have any motivation because of the looooonnnnngggg story and battle that i have to encounter again.

Shoji Meguro vuelve a realizar una excelente banda sonora. El juego siento que es mas completo que Persona 3 y 4. Desborda estilo tanto en combates por turnos, como en la historia principal misma.

This game is basically flawless and a better Persona 4. There are plenty of interesting characters, beautiful cut scenes, good voice acting, fun RPG elements, and lots of content, this game easily takes hundreds of hours to do most of what's in it.

This is my first Persona game, but as a big fan of the mainline SMT games I felt right at home with the excellent turn based combat, the unique to Persona parts surprised me and this game became an obsession for me, this was one of the rare games where I just didn't want it to end. This is a masterpiece, an example of the JRPG genre at it best!

With Persona 4 being one of my favourite video game titles of all time, I really didn't think that Atlus would be able to top it. These were my exact thoughts when starting the game, where having finished the first dungeon I found the story to be rather slow. The beginning of the game (and the entirety of the first Palace that you visit) feels like one big extended tutorial, with too much hand-holding being done for the player in my opinion. The story unfortunately gets off to a rather slow start, but towards the middle of the game it really picks up, and the ending had me going through a variety of different emotions.

Yes, the characters don't really match that of the squad that was assembled in Persona 4 but- having said this- I grew to like most of the characters when I got to the end which I found a tad surprising. Mechanically, this feels like a really refined and polished version of both Persona 3 and 4 (which you would expect), but it manages to add a wealth of useful and fun abilities that you're able to unlock through the provided Confidant Social Links. The ability to switch out characters when travelling around inside dungeons is a very welcome one, with the Baton-Pass ability adding another great layer to the turn-based combat that the series is known for. The only other downside I can really point out here is that of the soundtrack, which for me is arguably the worst in the series with very few memorable numbers which I didn't expect from a Persona game at all.

I feel pretty empty right now from having completed this exceptional title, and I feel that Atlus couldn't have done any more with it which I'm thankful for. Other would be role-playing game titles/series (looking at you Final Fantasy) need to take a look at this series and take note of what it gets oh so right. For me this is arguably the best role-playing game series that is available right now on the market, and I cannot recommend this game enough if you are into the genre.

Persona 5 is a JRPG masterpiece and it manages to revive turn-based combat in a way that you wouldn't think possible.

Graphics/World Design: 9.5/10: The graphics are good and they fit a very 3D anime design. The main complaint I have is that the anime cutscenes are used very well in the first part of the game and end part but oddly underused in the middle. That being said the world design of the palaces is great. The thieve outfits and color usage is simply perfect. It's simply artistic. Yusuke would approve.

Soundtrack: 9.5/10. Certainly an odd jazzy soundtrack. It took a little getting used to for me but it definitely fits every scene and by the end I craved each song.

Story: 10/10. Absolutely an amazing story. You get tied into each character and each confidant. You want to know the full main story and each subplot. The idea of "stealing villains' hearts" is intriguing and the palaces are an excellent refection of the villains' mental state.

Side Quests/Bonus Material: 9.5/10: The game does a good job of giving bonus mission in Momentos via Mishima so you're never lacking for extra missions. Persona 5 also does a good job at giving you more to do in a second play through which is pretty much necessary if you want everyone's full story.

Misc: 9.5/10. It's a great game and playing through everyday is amazing especially with the fact that the entire game up to a certain point works as a flashback. the only negative is that you need to play it a second time through to get everything from the game which leads to a high hour commitment to gameplay.

Summery: Persona 5 is a great game with an enthralling story. It's style keeps you interested and wanting more. The negatives are few and far between and it ever manages to innovate on a very classic battle system.

    Overall score: 10/10

Persona 5's plot kept me hooked for the entire game, and I managed to get past the long intro to get the actual meat of the game, which was absolutely worth it. Persona 5 improves the battles from the previous entries, proving just how turn based RPG's are still amazing and not "dead" (according to one JRPG company). And don't get me started on Persona 5's amazing music that kept me exited for whatever track was next. The only true flaw with the music was that there was not enough of it, as the same battle theme plays for the hundreds of hours of battles you will be doing unless you buy the DLC. I enjoyed this game so much nonetheless, and now I truly want to play video games again due to the fact that Persona 5 has truly changed my heart.

    - Positives -
    1. Combat is very fun

    2. Confidants provide very useful abilities and provides great incentive to hanging out with your friends

    3. If the Protagonist falls in battle, the game is over, I am very happy they decided to stick to tradition

    4. Visual Presentation is great, like seriously this game has style

    - Mixed -
    1. Story is 100 hours long and there are way too many days where you have no control on what you do

    2. Dungeons while no longer randomly generated like past Persona titles, can become very annoying,
I have never actively avoided playing a game before, because I knew of the upcoming dungeon

    3. I felt like the music was a huge step down from previous Persona titles

    4. Characters are interesting but no where near the level of past Persona titles

    - Negatives -
1.Combat is way too easy, even on Hard Mode except in the beginning when it's very brutal, almost unfair

    2. You can switch the game difficulty mid-game

    3. Even for serious moments or boss battles, most of the time standard music plays

    4. Lack of overall plot until end game

    5. There is a point of no return in the final dungeon that happens without warning,
and I am really speaking about how you can't buy any recovery items at all once your past that point.

This game was amazing, so I immediately bought and beat Persona 4 Golden, and wow...It really opened my eyes on how disappointing Persona 5 was in comparison.
Don't get me wrong Persona 5 is great, but compared to Persona 4 Golden, I feel like it falls short.
Persona 4 Golden is a magical experience from beginning to end, and I would recommend getting that game instead.

It'll only cost around $60 to get a PS-TV and Persona 4 Golden.
So overall, this is a great game, but falls in comparison to past titles.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is the best JRPG of 2017, unless you want to count FFXV as a 2017 release. There are few things in Persona 5 that I didn't necessarily hate, but they were kind of disappointing. Pros and Cons listed below:

    Pros-

The characters in this game, mainly your playable characters are all designed very thoroughly and actually do have depth unlike many JRPGs in the past. Some of the them remind you of close friends and family and by building your confidant relationship with them, you get to dig deeper into them in their own side stories. Persona 5 was meant to have just as much realism as any typical Japanese student's life today, and by playing, you the player will choose who your best friends and family are and not only what you say in every social situation.

Music is definitely some of the best in an RPG, and many things in the game teach you about Japanese culture.

Battle System and Personas in this game are also very complex and help the player learn and grow. Fusing personas is fun and rewarding and you have types on top of types of persona (similar to Pokemon) that aid you in your fight. You can also use fire arms to exploit weaknesses and cause hold ups.

The Plot of the game takes quite a while to get started but once it does, it becomes quite interesting and exciting, the Phantom Thieves go through many struggles and overcome obstacles in their own private spots to gain the favor of the general public time and time again, so not only do they have their "Power Rangers" style during the metaverse but they also use knowledge and wit in real life. There are also some of the best plot twists in a JRPG that rival past installments.

    Cons-

The Game is simply too long and that does not mix very well with the battle system at all. Thinking as a developer, I would want my game to be quite lengthy but there does exist a balance between how long a game the fans want it to be and how long it should be. JRPGs are known to be quite long to begin with but Persona 5 could very well take 200 full hours of play time to finish.

Battle System yet again is not bad, there are guns, there are Personas and there are regular attacks as well and all your other basic RPG fundamentals. However, with how long this game actually is, Personas start to dominate the battle system by a lot to the point where they completely take over. Hold Ups are really cool and all but do I really have to see the same Victory pose art of each character over and over? The fights are very likely to become way too repetitive and you'll find yourself ending each one with: Persona, Weakness, Hold up, Victory Art, done. There could have been other ways to finish a fight other than a Hold Up into all out attack. Maybe Special attacks could have been present and made the system even more unique.

The weakest part of this game are enemies and bosses. The enemies are your Personas so thats understandable seeing as how there is a taming aspect to this game with rules and limitations. But the bosses and mini bosses (Mementos Requests) are a pathetic excuse (Incoming Tales Bosses). They're absolutely horrible: A piggy bank boss, A painting boss? As soon as you see these two, you will guess what the next ones will be because of the Person's Palace. If that's not the worst part, one of them is literally a bunch of the same enemies until he runs out of enemies to use and loses because of it. Pretty much, bosses were probably fillers which is very disappointing.

To sum up, for the most part it's a great game but it looks as though more should have went to the fights and bosses and there probably wasn't enough time for that.

i was surprised that the game's battle system is more complex than i though i'd be, i hate deadlines like "you have to finish this project in 5 days or you get fired!" - but it makes the game become more real and again take me deeper into the story...

Persona 5 is a masterpiece in modern gaming, which is not a term one should use lightly. Expect an excellent story with an amazing soundtrack, interesting and deep characters with excellent voice acting, and engaging gameplay that switches between a unique combat system and real world exploration in order to keep things fresh. (It should also be noted that the player need not have played Persona 4 at all, since each Persona game is completely independent of other numbered entries, much like Final Fantasy).

With a completely original art style and dozens of hours of fun, this is definitely a "must buy" for all - it's also worth buying a PS4 just for this game!

It's JRPG, so it doesn't have the popular game style.
Overall, it's awesome game!! Excellent characters, music, story and long playtime. Be careful with spoilers.
However, game didn't use characters well enough. Cooperation was not good as P4G. Some of characters did pretty much nothing in story or team. Very unbalanced character roles in main story line. I heard they've changed story

We are missing one arcana, so we will have completed version like P3F or P4G. I hope they enhance the story line, cooperation and fix some character unbalance. It's great game! So I want to see it better on completed version!!

Only a few months since its release and this game is already considered one of the best RPGs of all time. After spending several hours dungeon crawling and living my daily high school life in Persona 5, I can clearly see why it has been given such a worthy title. The visuals are one of the most stylistic I've seen; it's insane how much detail was put into this game. The visuals are one of the most stylistic I've seen; it's insane how much detail was put into this game. Persona 5's depiction of Tokyo is very accurate; the areas are lively and are just waiting to be explored. Music in this game is stellar and addicting to listen to. They fit each situation perfectly and create an immersive atmosphere that is difficult to find in most modern video games. The story is strong, as it has caught my attention from the very beginning because of its cast of lovable, well-written characters and the themes it tackles that relate to a modern day society.

Generally for most people, it will take around 100+ hours to complete one playthrough, but I assure you every minute of the journey is worth it. The minor flaws I felt were worth a mention were the occassional low res textures, some redundant dialogue, and a slow paced beginning, none of which took away much from my overall experience with the game. Initially, I was worried about the hype it was given prior to release, and that it might become a disappointment like some other anticipated games. Thankfully, this wasn't the case, as it has lived up to its set expectations and exceeded them.

Following up to an already successful franchise, Persona 5 takes what made Persona 3 and 4 great, and improves on it in every way possible. The game raises the bar from Persona 4 and is an example of what a modern JRPG can offer. Atlus deserves recognition for such a well-executed sequel to the Persona series, and as a result the game earns a deserved 10/10 (which I don't hand out often), a masterpiece and one of the best games I've played. As for recommendations, if you're a fan of JRPGs or are keen to pick up one of the best PS4 games this year, Persona 5 has got you covered. The Phantom Thieves have truly stolen my heart!

Best Persona game yet, and easily my favorite PS4 game. This game contains too many quality of life improvements to list, and they help cut into the frustration factor of the game significantly. Alternatively, if you are new to the series you can set the difficulty to Easy and just enjoy the games unique style and story.

For Persona veterans you'll find that the game hasn't remained stagnant, and several formula shakeups keep things fresh. After playing through this game twice, I can't wait for the next game from the Persona team.

Persona 5 is an absolutely amazing game that convinces with its art style, music and story. It has anything one could ask for such a game and more. The turn-based battle system offers a wide array of opportunities. While it may not be everyone's cup of tea, it is definitely recommended to give it a go.

Persona 5 beats every other turn-based RPG in terms of production values, combat, story, symbolics, character design, music, pace and variety. 2017 is a great year for gaming and Persona 5 confirms this with a load of unmatched swagger.
