Much hype about nothing, a disappointment, a game so buggy that perhaps deserved to be published only as early access.

I managed to play ten minutes maximum before the crash, a tutorial beginning ... and not even seem bad!
A mix of resources research, crafting and exploration ...

Under these conditions € 60 is not worth it, maybe 15 for early access as a beta would be more honest.

Extremely repetitive. Same planet pattern, no story, no feeling of progression, lame space battle. The game isn't optimised for PC so even with a good computer there is a lot of lags.

Otherwise, the world is big enough, destroyable terrain, nice ambiance. Not worth 60$ but 20$.

This is a magnificent game, with a good concept, you're alone in the universe with thousands and thousands of planets, species not be recognize, and much vegetable places too, your capacity to make things is Absolutely big. You make you story or you not be able?
This game is not for everyone, but I think "that game is for me"

Only thing you do is grind, grind, grind to get better stuff. I like to grind in games but i don't want to play a game that has nothing to offer besides grinding. It has to be a less prominent role in a game. This game is behind the interesting idea (on paper) so shallow and thin that it is almost unbelievable this game had a green light for a release. It's not a finished product. Maybe this game was better suited for something like a demo, a promotion thing of a game producer. To show what can be done with nowadays technology, because this game is missing it's core: Gameplay.
It's an unripe apple, plucked from the tree too soon.

I hope to come back to this in 6-12 months and see what they have added but as things stand, this just feels like a tech-demo. It's amazing to see how many planets exist in this game and the size of each one. It's amazing to hear how it works and how it is created. The problem is that whilst you are playing it, you can't help but think "imagine when someone makes a proper game with this tech."

I like it, the mechanics are good but it's clearly not finished. They need to put a lot more variety in there or I won't be playing for long. Elite Dangerous is a far better game right now but has had significantly more development

Good relaxing exploration game. I can sit down and discover new planets for an hour or two in the evening. Some are barren and unfriendly some are lush and filled with life. Is it intense and super on gameplay, no. However it's still an awesome experience flying around a universe filled with various animals, aliens, plants etc.

I feel like I have brought a unfinished game that as just left the Alpha stage on it's build and now entered into the beta stage on the build. They are right in saying that every planet is almost different, the only differences I see in the lighting and the texture. To tell what a planet is like before I land on it for the first time is by looking at the plants eg some mushrooms tell me if the planet is toxic or nuclear. So to end this I'm saying it is good game but could of been better if one it was tested right and all the bugs were fixed. Expand

(all these Views in my review are my own personal preference) I love this game, I love exploring all the different planets, finding the different creatures and plants. This is just the type of game for me, Open world with nothing that pressures me to do something, which has always been my problem with the genre, for example in Skyrim I always felt Pressured to go straight to the quest objective without deviating from that path but in No Man's Sky I can do what I want without feeling like I should be doing that "Important" quest that needs to be done now. No one say's you need to get to the centre of the universe because if you don't do it the Universe will end or something else to that same effect, It's like "Hey Man the story is in this direction but you can do some completely random **** for as long as you want, i'll wait". I enjoy the flying mechanics and love customising bases and going around in the vehicles from the new patches. I don't mind mining, after all I've played minecraft for over a few hundred hours. but one problem I have is that there isn't enough sentient life on the planets, a few outposts here and there but otherwise nothing, If you say this system is controlled by the Gek then were are some cities or at least towns, but that doesn't bug me all too much. This game would be great if it were.... $5.

Aside from the bugs and crashes, the only thing you do in this game is fly to a planet, break some things, smell some flowers, and then leave. There is no story, there is no dialogue, there is nothing. It is amazing how empty and unpolished this game is.

The tutorial is completely reworked and it introduces core mechanics earlier, like bases and freighters (I hear you get your first freighter free of charge, so that's neat).

They also reworked the enhancement systems for weapons and ship upgrades. It makes more sense now, at least for me.

Textures and procedural generation have been improved, along with new animations and a character model with full customization. You can play with other races, too!

It's a breathtaking game. All new features that comes after today is going to be a plus.

Following two years of enhancements, the game is now unrecognisable to that released in 2016. Significant new content and well considered changes to the story and game play loops make this the game promised, and a must play experience for any fans of Sci fi, spare exploration, base building or survival.

Yes, I can see how some could find it repetitive or boring, but no game has ever so perfectly captured the feeling of space exploration, and even after ~20 hours of playing since release, No Man's Sky continues to feed me surprise after surprise.

Most of the planets are barren or toxic. Most of the creatures are unremarkable or boring. But just when I find myself getting bored of gathering resources/crafting on barren hellscapes, I'll stumble across a lush garden world, or an ocean planet, or a panther-dragon, and find myself audibly yelling "Holy **** at my TV screen.

Its easy to think that exploration in NMS is boring until you realize how many secrets are hidden beneath the surface. Many planets that have, at first glance, prompted me to say "Oh look, Mars again" have shown to have something cool - extensive caves systems, incredibly cool plants/animals, rare resources, or hostile sentinels. These experiences are rare enough that you don't start to have them until you have played continuously for a long time, but amazing enough to make the overall experience incredible.

The truth is that if you are someone who loves space games and has always dreamed of exploring the cosmos, No Man's Sky is not going to let you down, whatever legitimate complaints people may have. It just captures the 1950's sci-fi feeling of lonely wandering in a strange galaxy so perfectly. You will recognize its many flaws and love it all the same.

In short, this is the game I've always been waiting for. I continuously need to remind myself, "Do whatever the heck you want," because I can do anything in this massive universe, and it's awesome knowing that I'll have a completely different experience every time I play. Furthermore, that extra piece of lore is worth the 2 minute trek through the alien jungle... just saying. While I’m sure developer Hello Games is still tweaking things and perhaps even creating more content for No Man’s Sky, the current state of affairs is a strong one. This galactic opus still offers an infinite amount of content for those who want to lose themselves among the stars, but now also contains a concrete throughline that will satisfy a wider array of players. It can be irritating at times, but it’s also full of stunning moments and the satisfaction of building a virtual life among the stars. Four years after launch, it’s finally a journey worth taking.

While No Man's Sky is engrossing for the first few hours, repetition starts to set in and the proceedings grow dull. The developers stated that they plan to add significant features such as base building which could dramatically change the game for the better. There's a promising foundation present, so it's possible to envision a more substantial game down the line. As it currently stands, though, our excitement to cross the universe faded sooner than we expected.
