    Blows my mind that critics reviewed it as highly as they did. If this does not prove that the days of trusting critics are far gone then nothing will. The cutscenes feel like a cheap B movie. The combat has not evolved at all for years and the animation has only gotten less fluid over the years.

    What saddens me the most is that combo skill ceiling seems to have been reduced even further    Blows my mind that critics reviewed it as highly as they did. If this does not prove that the days of trusting critics are far gone then nothing will. The cutscenes feel like a cheap B movie. The combat has not evolved at all for years and the animation has only gotten less fluid over the years.

    What saddens me the most is that combo skill ceiling seems to have been reduced even further and couple that with the laughably bad netcode and you have a disaster recipe.

    Anyone who has actually experienced fighting games and seen their evolution over the years will find MK11 lacking in almost all areas    … Expand

    The game is missing fan favorite and classic characters like Mileena, Reptile, Sindel, Ermac and Smoke. Avoid the switch version at all costs. Only reason I give it a 4/10 is that its "playable".     Not really worth to buy. Always on "feature", a lot of microtransactions and dlcs directly unfluencing the game design by making the game grindy, female characters uglified so the developer can push its agenda (extreme violence is fine though). Better buy Soul Calibur.

    A combination of terrible design and storyline choices culminate in a total catastrophe for this franchise. Online gambling, horrible grinding, and several key fan favourites disconfirmed for inclusion, most importantly Mileena - one of the all-time top four stars of the series. Tried the game out then returned it within a couple of hours for a full refund. Absolutely awful mess.

    The game has become more serious than MK9. and MKX she was too gray and serious. Now the game is bright again. History mode, as a rule, is beyond praise. Worthy sequel to a great franchise. This is much better than in the previous part.

    An internet connection is required to unlock cosmetic items, play certain modes, and unlock certain characters. Mortal Kombat 11 is also a grind chocked full of microtransactions. Don't waste your money on this crap.

    I always loved this series of games, but this time something went wrong: microtransactions, a plot sucked from the finger and female characters are more terrible than in Mass Effect Andromeda.

    Best fighting game of the YEAR! The graphics are amazing(PC). Even optimization is great.
    (Mileena is not in the game sadly) but the gameplay is so fun.

    I remember playing Mortal Kombat Armageddon. I was really excited. All the previous characters coming back? Wow. Then I actually played it and realized, most if not all characters were the same, there wasn't even unique fatalities anymore, you have all these great characters and you just copy pasted them. The game had a lot of fanservices, but lacked any kind of depth, and so Mortal KombatI remember playing Mortal Kombat Armageddon. I was really excited. All the previous characters coming back? Wow. Then I actually played it and realized, most if not all characters were the same, there wasn't even unique fatalities anymore, you have all these great characters and you just copy pasted them. The game had a lot of fanservices, but lacked any kind of depth, and so Mortal Kombat died, until MK9.

    MK9 is one of the best if not the best revivals a IP can receive. It went back to it's root, rebooted everything, and ended having a more cohesive story, there were plenty of unlockables, nice DLC, nice story, great character development, and they got rid of pointless redundant characters, because they started over. I was stunned, that was the MK game I wanted, everything was looking good. But things went downhill.

    MKX paid more attention to e-sports and political correctness, and it reflected in the terrible single player content. The characters they introduced are were terrible, the very definition of a Mary Sue, and in turn that only convoluted the story, something they managed to fix from MK1-3 in MK9. You'd think they would also fix MK4 story, but they somehow made it worse, and still made Shinnok the laughable character he was back then. The graphics were mediocre, a clear downgrade from how crisp MK9 looked, trying to hard to be realistic.

    Enter MK11. Everything was looking bleak again. Everything in the reveal was terrible, from how it looked to character design, and as it went on, it only got worse and worse. Until the very end.

    I must say, there are a few improvements from MKX, namely, there is more single player content compared to MKX, but still not nearly enough and not as good. Character design, well, they are simply terrible, the whole focus in realism, again, and "representation" convoluted all characters. Who cares if Sub-Zero actually looks asian? Between choosing to make him look good in contrast of making him look realistic, I choose the former. Skarlet? Needless to say, but at least her alternative costume makes her justice. I can't comment about online yet, though, but it looks like the focus with e-sports remain.

    All in all, there are a few improvements over MKX, but out of the few things they fixed, they ruined fat more. It's in there with MKX, but an even further down step from MK9.    … Expand

    Great Graphics. Cool moves and combat systems. Nice customization system and a pretty good story with some faults. Online is smooth so far and i'm liking the extra things that are added.

    The negatives: Micro- transactions are disgusting in any game and it doesn't help MK11 one bit. I wish there were more fan favorite characters and a bigger roster, but i'm assuming that is coming with the DLC stuff which leaves a bad taste.

    Now for the nitty gritty stuff and possible spoils. I am a middle right wing person politically and love boobs and booty. Do i wish they would've gone the way of MK9 hell yes that game was amazing and you could tell that they didn't give a rats butt when making stuff. BUT.... some of the girl costumes are pretty cool and a small tad revealing. So not as much flashing and beautiful bouncy action but hey its a game and i never main chicks anyways cause its not my style. Now *SPOILERS* Jacks ending on the tower could've been better. Its the equivalent to the very common saying of stopping Hitler and his atrocities by going back in time. Is slavery a horrible mark in history? You bet your sweet bottom it is and it should never be forgotten and most ppl would agree with this statement. Given the opportunity to go back and change all the horrible things humans had done to each other that is one of the top 10 which even the ppl screaming SJW probably agree. But people don't understand that they are screaming SJW because this game has ALWAYS been about bouncy beautiful women, muscular toned shirtless men, and Kombat to the extreme degree including magic gut ripping and heads flying everywhere. Which brings me to my point. Games are fantasy and most gamers play games to be enthralled in that fantasy. When you add things in of the real world in a game that has never had anything to do with the real well you can see what happens. People calling others Trumptards, Libtards, SJWs, and a whole bunch of unnecessary things. Thus instead of not buying the game or bombing it i propose an alternative. For those whom miss the bouncy beautiful sexy women costumes, ask for them. Ask them for the choice of what we want your characters to look like when we play. Those who like to have their ninja girl or guy covered up then have the choice available.

    In conclusion this right wing some times Trump liker sometimes not, wishing the world would get over the tribalism, and so tired of all the political crap-baskets of a nobody that you should not concern yourself with gives this game an 8/10. Micro-transactions suck, making things grindy sucks, but man do i love Ting off on heads with Shao Kahn. AND PLEASE GIVE US MORE CHARACTERS!    … Expand

    Cons:

    Gameplay:

    - gameplay feels to slow, characters are moving and jumping very slow and often attack animations take 5-8 seconds to finish.

    - this game has also long super and ultra moves which you have to watch every match.It feels almost as if you spent more time watching those moves then playing the game.That's a bit exaggerate, but you get what i mean, if you see or play it.

    - standing far away from your opponents and shooting nonstop projectiles at them is far more efficient then every other playstyle, because of the slow movement speed and how hard it is to get in.

    - the enemy AI is laughably bad, standing around most of the time and doing nothing, even on the harder difficulty modes, it is really easy to exploit. So while there is a lot of singleplayer content to play through its not particular interesting to do so, given how passive the AI in single player is.
    And the times it gets hard, like in many of the tower challenges, it gets hard in a very unfair and frustrating way, with you having to fight the AI input reading your moves while you have unblockable nonstop projectile spam from outside the arena as stage hazard and the reason they do that is to make the ingame currency as hard to get as possible, so that you rather spend money to buy currency to unlock things.

    - they have implemented a gambling lootbox system, with multiple ingame currencies you have to craft into each other, to obscure how long it really takes to get a desired item,like you know them from mobile games, where you have to grind a really really long time(month or maybe even years) to get the costumes you want to have. They even gated the Finishing moves, Brutalities and Character intros and outros and almost all Costumes behind this lootbox grind wall, which is also the reason this game requires you to be online in order to get skins and items, because they don't want you to manipulate their lucrative lootbox gambling system, which preys on people with gambling addiction to take as much money from them as possible

    And its not like in Tekken 7, where you can just play the multiplayer to earn currency and then unlock everything with it. You have to play very specific singleplayer modes, mainly the tower challenges, to get the currency nessesary to unlock all the Costumes,Fatalites,Brutalites and Intros and Outros you want to have.

    Presentation:

    - this game has partwise really awkward character design, where all males are half naked bodybuilder stereotypes and the females are not allowed to show any skin at all.

    - the story is also full of stereotypes, where all the male characters are portrait as absolute idiots or vengeful rage induced monsters and most female characters are there to get things right and fix the things, the males screw up.

    - if you want to play Shao Kahn, one of the fan favorite characters, you have to preorder the game or you cant play him.The character gets installed on your hard disk drive anyways, in form of data, but they let you only play him if you have preorderd.

    - most arenas you fight in look very good texture and lighting wise, but many of them have the old MK X problem of being to dark, so that the fighters do not really pop out of the background very good.

    Combos:

    - most combos are very short and often you have to press only one, two or three buttons and your character is doing an entire combo

    - non of the characters seems to have much depth when it comes to combos or combo execution

    - most combos are really easy to perform, both timing and execution wise and as far as i have seen there is not a single character which is hard to learn.    … Expand

Also I do not appreciate real world politics in my videogames. Especially laughable is that the game we are talking about is Mortal, freakin, Kombat - true paragon of virtue right. But even politics aside the milking of money is over the top.

    TL;DR If    The game is ok. Following the formula of the previous games. However the grindwall is ludicrous. So much good stuff is behind paywalls.     Mortal Kombat 11 is filled with a 10/10 story mode and content that you can do for awhile. The unique character designs speak volumes as do the personality in each of them. Netherrealm brought so many of our favorites to life with their new face scan tech and better animations than any MK before. Thank you NRS.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Jax's ending is so racist. he wipes out all races but his own and creates an Ethno-State, which NetherRealm tells us is a good thing by making it an advanced society to promote wiping out races they deem "problematic"

    Kano's ending puts Sonya and Cassie in skimpy clothes fighting in a cage, sending the message that any fan who wants the women to not be covered head to toe is a "pig" like Kano

    Jade has a "proper" outfit, which has the only parts of her visible being her eyes, coupled withSkarlet being in a hijab. So the male feminists at nether realm took a page out of the Middle Easts' book of how women are "supposed" to be dressed, ignoring that women are FORCED to wear that stuff over there or face harsh punishments.

    The combat is still good and the graphics are great, which is why I was going to give it higher than a 0, but personal attacks from people defending the game's messages of race superiority for Jax and the "Women need to be covered head to toe" against people who didn't like the game made me reconsider

    I refused to buy this so when my brother got it last night at Midnight I sat and played it with him all night and watched him get some of the endings.

    The game is Nether Realm "going woke", covering the women up in the name of "realism" while also having men in butt flaps and shirtless, meaning they are fine with men being allowed to display their sexuality but not women, wanting the women to be covered. They forget THEY were the ones who had the women in the clothes they now deem to be "a problem" in past games, so their attacks on fans being sexist for not wanting the women covered head to toe with flat chests and man faces is hypocritical.

    I expect the next game to be worse, assuming this game doesn't flop

    The story leaves a lot to be desired, once again dipping into the time travel crap because they've written themselves into a corner, ending the story with Liu Kang having the power to make history the way he wants. So hopefully that means he makes a perfect timeline with no evil and we are spared a Woke sequel

    The irony is watching male feminists calling people sexist, then they turn around and mansplain why women fans who don't want the women covered head to toe because it is insulting to women are wrong.

    Don't buy this game. My brother bought it and he's already complaining about it, and he's been playing the series since we were kids back in the Super Nintendo days    … Expand

    Poor story, with again a special forces focus
    The new characters are bland and injustice like, Cetrion is Ivy 2.0.
    Fatality slomo doesn't work, and is too esthetical
    Characters design are mostly bad and over the top
    Mortal kombat atmosphere is gone

    The game gives you kombat koins to unlock chests in the Krypt that unlock extras like secondary fatalities, brutalities, accessories, announcer voices, and what have you.
    The biggest problem? The amount of koins you get vs the price to unlock is astronomically unbalanced. It can take around 10-15 minutes to earn 1,000 koins. Some chests in the krypt require 10,000    Straight to the point.

    That's that's just 1 chest, what about the other 100+ chests?

    By the time you unlock everything your grandchildren will have retired from work and mortal kombat 82 will have already been on sale 7 times over.

    Do not buy this game at this time.
    Best to just wait for a deep sale and then used the money saved to buy the unlocker.

    In order to progress in the game you have to grind your way through boring, almost-impossible to beat towers, filled with unblockable homing projectiles. The gear level-augment system is random, frustrating and time-consuming.

    Why all of this takes place in a fighting game escapes me.

    The game kinda ruins a lot of what can be loved about MK. The fighting is decent, but everything else, from the out of place tower endings to an insane grind to always online hurts the experience. Why would anyone play MK11 when there are plenty of upcoming and released fighters (T7, UNIST, SamSho, even DBFZ) that are just better in every way? It's hard to justify the pricepoint at this time.

    CONS

    - The Towers of Time are ridiculously time consuming, both because they can be overly long, and because the modifiers are dialed in to literally be game breaking. The game makes no bones about it, either, encouraging you to use consumables as it readily admits some fights will be too tough. I’ve spent hours on one battle because even with modifiers it’s too intense to beat.
    - The chests inside the Krypt, which earn you rewards like skins, gear, fatalities, etc. are all random from the looks of it. I spent over an hour with it and have yet to get a single item usable by my main.
    - Rewards for the Klassic Towers (basically the arcade mode for the game) are flaccid at best. There is no incentive to play them except to get consumables that you can use in the Towers of Time, which only lengthens the progression system that much longer.

    Mortal Kombat 11 has so much to to be appreciative of gameplay and presentation wise, but the progression system is painfully overdone. If all you’re looking to do is fight online and play through the story, then you’ll probably have a good time. But if you are interested in customization and really getting your money’s worth, be prepared to be driven to tears by the impossible odds thrown at you. Progression mechanics are essential to games, from RPGS to First Person Shooters to Action games and even Simulations. If fighting games are going to start adapting these mechanics to their experiences, they’re going to need to do it in a reasonable way. Making the process a random, overly painful and drawn out one — like some kind of mobile game — is not the way to go. NRS has always been receptive to criticism so let’s hope that they can fix some of these issues. If they do, Mortal Kombat 11 has the potential to be one of the best.    … Expand

Lets say you have to defeat Raiden for a cool Item you want and another Fatality for your fav character (its randomized but for the sake of this review lets assume its exactly for the character you want). You have to defeat Raiden twice to get that stuff. But these are his attributes:
    -6 times more life than you
    -makes more damage than you
    -calls a tag team partner which makes quick immediate damage to you
    -its raining acid in the arena which damages you constantly and is unavoidable
    -if you stand near Raiden for more than a second you get electrocuted and paralyzed

    Its impossible to beat him, and therefore to get the gear you want or even enjoy the MK essential things like fatalities to the fullest. Its a shame, and frustrating, obviously there to make you spend more money on the game you already paid a lot for. If it would be only cosmetics ok whatever, but the other stuff is important.

The developers lied about certain aspects (all characters in the story will be playable, there will be unlockable characters, they will listen to the fans and include all the fan favourites...)

    Most importantly however: The developers showed how much they disrespect/hate one of the biggest fan favourites (Mileena) and her fanbase. They didn't include her in the game and mocked/ridiculed her fans for telling NRS how much they want their favourite to be a part of the new installment.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story mode is a disappointment because of a few reasons. One is the unnecessarily level of feminism in it. The moral advantage is lopsidedly on the female side in fights where both genders participate. Other problem is too much spec.force chapters, less interesting kharakters. I hoped for an Erron chapter, but he was more ignored than in MKX. I was also disappointed with the lack of screentime of the Colletor. It should be easy to make chapters from viewpoint of the opponents at least when they have the temporary upper hand. Its boring to fight the same boring kharakters in story mode.
    I've got mixed feelings about the new kombat system. The new meter system is a backstep, but I liked how this game is not so execution heavy, and more casual friendly.

    the game just isnt good, the animations are wonky, the voice acting is subpar and the story leaves much to be desired. This all not even mentioning the **** tier hero pool and the trash hit reg. Im thankful I can return this **** ASAP because its such a disappointment compared to 9 and the anti consumer DLC pratices just Ice the cake on the entire fiasco.

    If is the eleventh installment really is the last Mortal Kombat for at least some time, then the developers part with it with dignity. Large number of fighters, great possibilities for editing them and great gameplay make the game one of the best fighter games of recent years. [Issue#295]

    Like the grisly cutscenes, Mortal Kombat 11 is fun as long as you don't think too hard or look too closely at it - but that's exactly where the real joy is found in a fighting game.
