    An incompetent schlock riding on the coat tails of better games of the past to deliver an uninspired mess full of grind, micro-transactions and lacking in sex appeal and character design. Should have been a mobile release, for free, at best.

    The story of this game is the worst in the series, I'd even go as far and say that MK Special Forces has a better story than this installment. Aside from that filled to the brim with MTX, questionable decisions in terms of roster and Outfits for the characters.

    Better wait for it to go on sale or skip it all-together.

    They couldn't have done worse with this game. I was really interested when it was first announced since it seemed to be the best game of the franchise, but I can't stand all the politics around this game. Microtransactions, monetization everywhere, online required for offline things... It's awful and I can't forgive these things, specially in an incomplete game of 60 $.

I was dead set on buying this game when I first saw the trailer, but then I remembered Injustice 2. This game is everything that's wrong with gaming today.

    Sistema de monetización abusivo y casi obligatorio para conseguirlo todo. DLCs. Lo de que requiera conexión permanente para cosas offline es simplemente rastrero. Lo tenían todo para hacer el mejor juego de la saga pero estas medidas para sangrar al usuario son imperdonables.

    The story of this game is not the Mortal Kombat anymore ,so disappointing . the new characters are awful . where are the old characters????? where is onaga ??? hope that this will be a good lesson for ED Boon , to pay attention to the Traditions.

    Yes, currently the item collecting is a little grindy. I don't feel any incentive to pay for things though.. if you were playing the old MKs you would be doing playthroughs for player endings and just enjoying the game. You do the same here except there are the towers of time that mix things up, dragon challenges which can change your fight and also the extensive and informative tutorial that is needed for beginners in modern fighting games. There is plenty to do, we don't need access to everything right away. With some adjustments the Towers of Time will be awesome.

    It feels like people who seriously complain want to have their cake and eat it. As I have said, it is slightly too grindy for items at the moment (which they are due to address) but the game is literally just out. It is no wonder the video games business gets annoyed when people are screaming out against micro transactions but on the other hand don't want to put in a reasonable time for things... it is currently 24th, a day after the regular release date. The RNG does suck, Im sure theyll fix it.

    The roster isn't for everyone either, but I appreciate some original characters. The story is a bit different rather than a rehash, they are bound to add some of the favourites in later. The different loadouts for characters is also great and means a single character can play massively different to another. It encourages exploration and creativity, I like it.

    Some people are on the fence about the new character designs. I like most of them, some of the characters less so but then I am less bothered about those characters anyway, e.g. baraka. the female characters are outright cool and different to each other as they should. I am certainly not being wistful about the time when they all had basically milennas build, and fake breast shape with different coloured bits of fabric on and different heads. These characters are written well and the model designs are great, the outfits are badass- I do not know what the fuss is about. People seem to miss the sexuality thing, Milenna was the starkest example of this and shes not in the roster anyway. The only thing I've noticed (might be wrong) is that several of the models noses look exactly the same (you notice during crushing blows). A small complaint really.

    Do people not think Netherrealm are a bit "damned if they do, damned if they don't"? They are telling a new story, it is going to need new characters so it isn't a rehash. I'm pretty certain if they did not mix it up a bit people would be moaning it is stale.    … Expand

    - The setup is very poor. 3-4 suits and each about 5-6 colors. What the hell? BlazBlue or Guilty Gear is allowed to change the character's coloring as you like, you don't need to grind your character to look like a clown.

    Game is not a good representation of what a good fighting game should be. Fighting is boring and from previous games lacks challenge. Micro transactions need to be eradicated from games. Story is boring and the characters ugly and uninteresting.

    Mortal Kombat 11 is very disappointing, been a fan since I was 10 years old (24 now) I have purchased and played almost every MK game from MK2 to MK11, despite Mortal Kombat 11 lacking a lot of fan favorite characters like Mileena & Reptile and the females being overdressed for political correctness I still bought the game because I was a huge fan but I regret it. The new single playerMortal Kombat 11 is very disappointing, been a fan since I was 10 years old (24 now) I have purchased and played almost every MK game from MK2 to MK11, despite Mortal Kombat 11 lacking a lot of fan favorite characters like Mileena & Reptile and the females being overdressed for political correctness I still bought the game because I was a huge fan but I regret it. The new single player modes: Tower of time is unfair and impossible to beat because of cheap Test your Luck modifiers on top of hard AI bosses with huge amount of health. The Krypt used to be a fun minigame to unlock skins and fatalities but in MK11 it's filled with lootboxes that gives random items which are mostly one time consumables that can be used in Towers of time, also they added microtransactions that are similar to mobile games or free to play games after making costumers pay $60-$100, it's very insulting.
    If the economy and grind is not significantly reduced soon this game will die quickly.    … Expand

    Great game, new mechanics are reasonable and enjoyable, cutscenes are great, the story is kinda stupid in some points, but come on, it's MK.

    Im just hatin on the game cuz i´ve seen similiar gameplay and type of fightning genres everywhere, this does not stand out that much except for the "cool cinematics" they have added...which they always have done in their previous games..nothing new, nothing im impressed of. If the majority of the people who bought this game actually plays 60+Hours i would be really surprised,

    This game by far exceeded my expectations. the last games campaign was amazing and didn't believe it could be topped. The cinematics, the color, the story telling, and the voice acting were top notch. Complimented with great fighting experiences between. the end was great and fulfilled what I desired without leaving it open ended.     The game kinda ruins a lot of what can be loved about MK. The fighting is decent, but everything else, from the out of place tower endings to an insane grind to always online hurts the experience. Why would anyone play MK11 when there are plenty of upcoming and released fighters (T7, UNIST, SamSho, even DBFZ) that are just better in every way? It's hard to justify the pricepoint at this time.

I do not really care about a lot of the skins, but it is a shame that the human forms of some revenant characters and Skarlet's Klassic costume are locked behind an unhealthy grind. I also don't care that much at all about female characters being more covered up, but there is a clear double standard for male characters that makes me question why there was a need to implement this in the first place. Nonetheless, the character models look great. People are complaining about the lack of Mileena and Rain but forget that we have not seen the likes of Kabal, Skarlet, (secret), Jade, Noob Saibot, and Baraka as playable characters in years. Cetrion, Kollector, and Geras are strong additions to the roster, each having their own quirks that set them apart from the rest of the roster. Having Cyrax and Sektor be NPC's is honestly such a waste and according to DLC leaks, they may not be DLC characters either. From what I have played so far, the story mode is well developed and fun to play through; moreover, the character interactions are top notch. Voice acting is alright with the exception being Sonya Blade. I played the Nintendo Switch version, and although the graphics are blurry at times, the game runs great (60 fps). For a fighting game like this, you likely won't be focusing on specific textures during a heated battle. It was distracting at times when character's like Liu Kang and Johnny Cage would get temporarily have grey hair due to the lighting, but the graphics were not an issue on both docked and handheld. The portability is definitely a fair trade off. It is a shame that the implementation of a stingy Krypt system got in the way of such a fine game. If enough people keep complaining, perhaps NRS will change this system. I would not be surprised if Warner Bros is really pulling the strings on these microtransactions. The PC launch being handled horribly again does not help with this either.… Expand

Second I’d like to say I’m glad to find that the community here is being vocal and letting NRS know that this is not how you treat your fans.

    My biggest complaint right off the bat is no cosmetic or custom variations available for those playing locally. If I have a friend come over and sign in as a guest, he should have all the available options that I have unlocked. This was **** in Injustice II and it’s even more **** now because NRS has had more than enough time to fix this. The simple answer is this was left unchanged purely out of greed which leads me to my next point…

    Loot boxes. Loot boxes are the worst thing to ever happen to gaming. When EA tells me there will be no loot it’s obvious they have an equally **** alternative in the works. Ed Boon has always come across as a genuine, humble and just all around cool dude so when he tells us that there will be no loot boxes, I take him at his word and believe he has my best interest in mind. It sounds dramatic but it feels like he just stabbed me in the back.

    I’m going to be honest and admit that I actually don’t hate microtransactions. I can appreciate them as an adult because I don’t have the time it takes to grind for items. NRS I felt handled them well with MKX. There you could buy the Krypt pass which would allow users to unlock all kinds of costumes/taunts/fatalities/etc for $20. Now you can’t even buy a single costume for under $5 which is absolutely ridiculous.

    If this wasn’t bad enough MK has tried their hardest to be perceived as “woke”. Let me just say that I didn’t prefer the scantly clad direction they were going for with the ML women in more recent titles. Mileena’s bandage costume in MK9 was just embarrassing. I preferred the classic MKII and MK3 costumes for the female ninjas but it seems now that NRS find even those to be too risqué. NRS went from one extreme side of the spectrum to the other rather than finding a middle ground. Now they’re just pandering to a crowd that doesn’t give a **** never did, and never will.

    Lastly, this is a weak roster. Jacqui is not a “fan favorite”. Reptile, Mileena, Smoke, Ermac, Cyrax/Sektor, Goro… these are fan favorites NRS. Take notes.

    Never thought I’d say this but MK11 is a bigger failure than even SFV and that’s saying something.    … Expand

    7. Наличие компании - да она есть и на этом спасибо. Да она абсурдная, да она порой даже смешная. Но она есть в игре где по сути главной целью является набить рожу своему оппоненту. При этом в играх вроде шутеров от компаний начинают отказываться чисто в целях экономии на проекте.

    Здесь много хейта насчет лутбоксов и кастомки, я его не понимаю. Наверное мною движут другие ценности и МК для меня это не игра про то как переодеть и украсить своего персонажа.    … Expand

    the game also seems to be pushing an extremist left wing agenda with how they have went about handling the female fighters where all of them are covered from head to toe and are beaten bloody as if they are from oversea's while the men are all half naked and bare chested. the game also is online only meaing any type of progression you make is tied to you beaing linked to the internet when past MK games of old had no such feature and then there are the pointless greedy MTX's too boot on top of all of the other issues.

    now the story while an improvement over MK10 pretty much ends up rebooting everything again so it's hard to be invested in anything that is going on here. there are some funny moments but overall the story is serviceable not bad or great just fine

    while i don't think this game is a 2.0 or a 3.0 it's no where near an 8 or 9.0 so i''m giving MK11 a 6.5    … Expand

    I don't approve of the double standards this game has with the costumes. Men are half naked while women are covered up, hypocrites. The people that complain about women being oversexualized are the same people that complain about gore and violence. At least allow players to chose between costumes instead of saying "too bad" to the fans. Ed Boon make this right.

    I don't think this is the woke hill the developers will die on. I think the grind and casino will kill this game instead. Then again whales are thing so, but the average consumer best maybe worth avoiding until a massive sale. The grind seems so dialled forward that maybe it well could be just one of those marketing tricks? Like to lower the grind later to get some good PR and set the grind at the level they really intended to profit off anyway.

    On a side note I have to ask how butt hurt and triggered do you have to be about Donald Trump winning in 2017?     With only the single player enjoyable the rest of the game plays like a free to play mobile game where you have to get lucky just to unlock extra content in the game. Rather than difficulty the towers seem more a chore that I would rather not play.

    Also the massive switch from a martial arts and fantasy focus with some technology and cyborgs to mostly focusing on main characters that are just dudes with guns. Thankfully Liu Kang was brought back as the main character but in what should be considered a fan fiction of MK9's story.

    The main bad guy, Kronika is the most boring character in the game (which is a considerable achievement) She has the look of a cancer patient in hospital robes. All she does is tell everyone the same promise and have them all hope that they are benefitted when all is said and done, when they KNOW that she promissed everyone that's on her crew to be on top. What a NOSE DIVE from absolute legends like Shao Khan, a character that was impossibly hard in ALL depictions of (basically) ALL games thus giving him a genuine feel of strength and painting him as a real threat and challenge to overcome. Well they got rid of that too, in this he gets beaten almost by accident as a side note. The main story is just a bunch of excuses to fight, which would be great if fighting npc's was very fun, saddly its just alright. All the deaths in the story are awful, no fatalities like the memorable one in mkx that destroyed quan chi, or the ones in MK9, in this the deaths seem so mundane as to put into question if this is the same franchise that caused the creation of the ESRB.

    Ohh well, shady business practices and pushing ideologies will take their toll sooner or later, maybe after they need to fire people and completely restart the franchise (AGAIN) they'll realise the necesity of putting art and the customer first and we'll get another true interpretation of what is Mortal Kombat.    … Expand

    But, if that isn't enough, even the most bleeding heart will be aghast at the giant grinding paywalls that nickel and dime you for the basic features on which you just spent the usual (though astonishing) 80 bucks, thinking you had already purchased them. Tower after tower, chest after chest...endless time or money so you can get what should have been included in the price of the game.

    This game sucks. It is like work. Like going to play those crummy ticket games at the crummy modern arcade where you spend $100 to hit the button at the right time just get enough tickets to win a 5 dollar stuffed animal.

    Out of all games in the world, Mortal Kombat wants to become "less offensive".(pro censorship).. who would've thought that... Also they are going all out with Microtransactions that shouldn't even be there in first place in a full price titel.

    All characters are ugly and Fatalities are not creative in comarsion to the older games in the series.

The hypocritical, benevolent sexism on display as character lead, Brendan George shamelessly shut down the desires of the fans to see the female fighters in more Klassic attire should have been enough to keep me from buying this game day 1. Whenever a company devalues the input and desires of a Konsumer and opts to thrust their own ideology, moral superiority and virtue onto those who have kept you in business for 27 years it should be an automatic "wait and see, let's not buy this right away".

    This isn't even the biggest concern though, the disgusting level of grind and microtransactions just to unlock much-coveted items in the krypt is ludicrous for anyone paying $80.00 upfront for this game. The "woke-anda" ending for Jax, and the Drumpf Khan "make Outworld great again" needlessly infusing of politics into a simple fighting game just adds insult to injury. It comes off as completely tone deaf, and just gives the impression that NRS is purposefully altering Ed Boon's vision to be more compliant with the woke-mafia, so as to appease the majority far left-leaning game's journos in return for praise and positive reviews. If you need evidence that Boon's vision was Kompromised then look up the interview where he states that Kronika (the main boss) was originally meant to be male. If Boon had no Kontrol over something as significant as the main boss, then it's likely that many more aspects of this game were perverted in order to cow-tow to the regressive left.

    Here's a warning: game journos and activists do not keep you in business. Kontinue to disregard the wills and wants of your fan base and your nightmares will be haunted by the phrase: "Get Woke, Go Broke"

The amazing custom skins and gear are mostly found in Towers of Time which are randomized, timed, encounters specifically built to force players to buy "konsumables" awful, penny pinching one time use breaks that attempt to even the odds but often makes it so you can last just an extra second or two. If you die, you lose the item anyway. The difficulty is tremendously off balance. Watching the developers play on the Kombat kast versus what this game is actually, is the equivalent of watching a fun musical where people dress as lions and dance versus watching six starving real lions tear into thirty human babies covered in A1, and being told it is the same thing.

    Series mainstays such as Mileena, Ermac, and especially Reptile(non human characters should always be featured) is disappointing but will not influence my review as that is my personal preference.

    Overall this has the potential to be the best Mortal Kombat game ever released to konsole, but these jarring insidious methods of locking kontent and changing core mechanics to enable, encourage, and influence the purchase of "premium kurrency" is shameful and seriously harms what would otherwise be a crown jewel in the crown of NRS.

    Aside from all that, which alone could already absolutely ruin the game(and it does), I'd like to talk a little about the game/playability itself, which for me is already bad enough to warrant a low score for the game. This is my opinion and it's obviously subjective, but that's my impression from playing this game for a few hours.

    I think that they took away many aspects of the game which made MK what it has always been. At least for me, I always loved it because it had fast paced fights, crazy combos and amazing character designs. Unfortunately, they took out the run feature and most of the old games combo capabilities, resulting in a slow, limited game that relies a lot more on footsies and projectile spam. It's like a child between Street Fighter and Injustice. And don't even get me started on character design. The female characters look like they belong in a muslim country or something. Absolutely ridiculous and completely out of touch with the rest of the series.

    Don't get me wrong, a lot of people might enjoy that, but it's just too different from what I grew up with. MKX had its problems, but it was an amazing iteration to the series precisely because it was developed under the concepts the made the series what it was. The gameplay in MK11 overall was highly boring for me personally.

    Almost forgot, the game has that "always online" concept, so whenever server problems emerge, players will have problems even playing single player features. This is a huge letdown and deserves to be mentioned.

    Overall a lot of people will probably enjoy the game itself, but the underlying problems it has are way too much to ignore. I hope they learn from their mistakes in this game.    … Expand

    I remember the days when you paid for a game...and received the full game! Instead, we now have an unscalable grind wall unless we want to pay even more in microtransactions. Somebody needs to say bye to Boon and make Mortal Kombat great again, because it's fallen way too far.

    I really don't understand why NRS made the female characters ugly und un-sexy.
    MK used to be the most politically incorrect game... now, with the SJW approved female outfits and the woke story-lines, it seems like the devs made a 180 degree turnaround. Very disappointing. Will play MK9 and MK10 instead.

    Great game. The combat mechanics are polished to a new level, is going to be fun to play online. Story mode is fun to watch, and the tutorial system is so complex that help new players in fighting games get a grasp of complex mechanics.

    Only gripe is the Krypt currency system, but has been announced a fix for it coming very soon.

    "developer acknowledges the issues"....Seeing how quickly they are acknowledging it, it doesn't erased the fact that they are once again trying to scam the consumer for every penny they got.

    Plus just because they are releasing a patch, it doesn't mean all the major complaints will be addressed, this should have never happened to begin with if they are so worry about reviews.

    If is the eleventh installment really is the last Mortal Kombat for at least some time, then the developers part with it with dignity. Large number of fighters, great possibilities for editing them and great gameplay make the game one of the best fighter games of recent years. [Issue#295]
