    Yet another roster update. Played the game via EA access trial and in my FIRST GAME bumped into glitches and bugs that remained in Madden for the past couple of years. This game is a spit in the face for football fans, I truly hope another football franchise game series can somehow compete because anything is better than the copy and paste garbage we receive year after year.

    Franchise mode is an exact copy and paste from Madden 20. All they did was change the menu color. All the work that should have been done on Madden’s most beloved mode was used on The Yard.

    The Yard is basically what the gameplay was made for since Madden is an arcade style game, not an actual simulation football game. It was a game mode literally nobody asked for. And you guessed it,    Franchise mode is an exact copy and paste from Madden 20. All they did was change the menu color. All the work that should have been done on Madden’s most beloved mode was used on The Yard.

    The Yard is basically what the gameplay was made for since Madden is an arcade style game, not an actual simulation football game. It was a game mode literally nobody asked for. And you guessed it, more micro transactions! They finally added mouth pieces after 10 years but you can only get them in The Yard. The blocking is still broken. Lead blocking is joke, the FB or pulling lineman will run right passed a LB and watch you get destroyed as he continues up field to block the safety after you already got stuffed. Pass trajectories are still god awful, touch passes don’t exist. The game is still HEAVILY animation dependent which sucks. It’s the reason you get sucked into blockers and get weird unrealistic stops at the 1 yard line instead of scoring. The announcers are still bad. They don’t follow what’s happening on the field very well and sometimes just flat out make no sense. Example “First and goal from the the 10 after the costly fumble but they can still pick up a 1st down.” Meanwhile I’m on my own 10 and it’s clearly not first and goal. Or, play as the Packers and hand the ball to AJ Dillon and laugh as they call him Walter Payton lol.

    As long as Madden uses the Frostbite engine I don’t think the gameplay will ever actually get better. The same issues we’ve had for a decade still exist. It’s very disheartening at this point. If you were planning on getting Madden 21 I’d wait and see what it looks like on next gen consoles if you can afford it. If not just download the latest rosters from Madden share on Madden 20 and enjoy. Unless all you care about is MUT and you’re addicted to gambling and throwing money away, then this game is perfect for you.    … Expand

    Game is broken. You might as well just stick to Madden 20. They have done nothing except added the yard which is also broken. Time for EA to have some competition then maybe they will care about creating a good game.

It is ridiculous but hey if you wanna build a dream team just offer the colts 35cent and you can get your hands on 94 overall quenton nelson. The surprising thing to me is they actually didn't even upgrade ultimate team.
    But what ea did go away and do all year is spend time creating a buggy and lifeless mode called the yard which just about sums up the fact that they manage to con the nfl into thinking they create a simulation football game whilst being about as realistic as stevie wonder driving an a aeroplane.
    Also what Ea in all there wisdom have done have made the word Moore a profanity. Which to be honest really is a bummer because I used to enjoy calling all my friends moores but I guess we have to move with the times and stop people saying such heinous words.
    I rate this a 0 because it is completely unacceptable that a business the size of ea continues every year to put out an incomplete unrealistic piece off garbage. The writing is surelu on the wall for ea. Actually improve your game and stop allowing kids to gamble.

    In conclusion if you want an unrealistic buggy mess this game is for you. If you want to watch your o line miss easy blocks and then as your run further down field watch your wrs run away from blocking whilst just as your about to get a touchdown you get locked in an animation and are teleportrd into a defenders arm then this game is perfect for you.
    If you want a game that is not based off of skill but how badly you can cheese the game this is perfect. Need a touchdown te attack or slants will do fine because its unstobbbale maybe hb stretch cause there is no counterbalance. This game would be perfect if it was celebrating the achievements of what severely handicapped people can do when asked to make a game but unfortunately it is not it is made by one of the biggest company's in the world.

    This game is absolutely broken from the foundation up, yet they devote all their resources to features no one wants or asks for. The majority of their focus is spent on getting young children to gamble in their virtual trading-card game, Ultimate Team.     Yes, please rent this at a redbox or sign up for ea access and play it for 10 hours. thats all the time youll need to realize this game is not complete, absolutely broken and unplayable. you cant even get through the menus without constantly waiting and while you are in a game, the screen stutters and flickers. even freezes when you score a touchdown. unplayable - ea has lost their way.

    In all seriousness all of you are better off buying a PS2 or dusting off your PS2 from childhood and purchasing one of the old maddens of your choice or buying 2k5, I would rather eat **** before I even consider playing Madden21 and future maddens down the road I don’t understand how people can possibly defend madden year after year.

(An arcade style 6v6 backyard football mode with cosmetics you can buy with real money) This game is an unpolished, unfinished, and more buggy simulation football game than last year. Please do not waste your money.

    Another installation of EA sports promising everyone that gameplay would improve, franchise mode would be fixed and so much more! But that just isn’t the case. I pre ordered the game in hope that maybe EA would follow through but I should have know they will never do more than what is required, the bare minimum. Was refunded the money paid this game after a hour of gameplay.

    0. Absolutely zero. There's no immersion, no attention to detail, nothing for sim players, no physics, and is unbearable to play. Stop buying this game, I know what I'm talking about... this is just awful in every way imaginable besides the graphics.

    There's still no coordinators either... and it's 2020. Don't buy this stupid game unless you like the feeling of underage gambling.

    The worst Madden ever made. Blame goes on the executives for not changing franchise to get people to play Ultimate Team, but also goes to developers for a complete lack of polish. Gameplay is horrible, FOTF seems like it was written by a 5th grader, Franchise is as garbage as usual.

You can only get drafted by the Bears (unless you cheat and manually pick your team) and your play card displays the wrong archetype you chose and the wrong college you picked to attend. There are new storylines but it is not realistic at all. The mode is raw but not polished.

    The new mode, "The Yard," is a good addition to the otherwise bare game and it does offer some fun gameplay but unfortunately, the mode does have some gameplay bugs. The grass field can disappear at times and the ball can glitch out. One can wonder if the mode was only added to combat 2K's new arcade game coming out next year.

    Franchise mode is an exact replica from last year with no changes except for UI and a recolor.

    Overall, the game like every other madden in the last 10 years has very minor improvements and is nothing different from the rest. The Yard and Face of the Franchise are fun gamemodes but they are not polished and they suffer from bugs all over the place. I do not recommend a buy unless it is on sale.

    This game is disappointing. I have ran into many in game glitches with the environment and mechanics. The UI included multiple mispellings and some of the properties were just copied and photo shopped from previous years. Face of the franchise feels boring. I like the premise of my yard but it feels like it needs more time in development. EA did commit to working on franchuse mode butThis game is disappointing. However, we STILL have OL that CAN'T block, they continuously clip together and get in your way causing more holes to be filled rather than open, and they can't figure out who to block.. Not to mention the RB who cant figure out who to block either. Next would be the second level blocking.. I can't tell you how many times a OL, TE, WR, etc. will not block the guy they are supposed to at the first level but, rather choose to go to the second level only to have a hit or miss on if they actually make contact with a defender ( typically they just swoop on by or clip ) I have about 4000 more characters that I could honestly fill up in regards to just gameplay and franchise alone but, I think those will get the point across.. no need to dive into the QB mechanics, CBs catching better and high pointing balls better, illogical turns when it comes to multiple things but, especially so in route running to the outside of the field, etc. Now, EA can YOU get the point? It's been years of these same complaints and yet NOTHING is done.. I'll end this with the simple fact that fans of simulation football are BEGGING for a different company to produce a football game.     On top of that, the new Face of the Franchise mode advertising your ability to play as either a WR, QB, or RB, yet you're forced into playing QB until the near end of your college career, so many story plots are forced and don't make any logical sense. For example, I put up 9 passing TD's in a college game, won the CFB national championship, but was STILL benched for a QB with clear health risks. Why even include a "story" mode if your play and choices barely make a difference at all to story outcome? It's so lazy.

    I really don't even know why we expected anything more. Unfortunately, we will have to suffer through another long few years of EA having exclusive NFL "simulation" (laughable) video game licensing.

    EA Tiburon as a studio needs to be completely cleaned out with a quality team that understands how to create a Sports game.

    TL;DR: Do not spend any more than $5 on this game. If you already own Madden 20, don't spend any money on this game. Wait for the inevitable sale in a few months when this game doesn't quite sell as many copies as they expected.    … Expand

    I know I’m in a very small minority but due to where I live, I can only game offline. 4 of the 6 modes in this game require internet to even access. You can do the story mode for some reason. Also the new “The Yard” mode is online only so you can’t even mess around and make a uniform or do couch co op.     I was sent a review copy of this game and the laziness is glaring. Somehow this game is worse than Madden 20 because the developer insisted on removing features already in place within older games of the series. Really just shows that EA is only making these games as a desperate attempt to grab cash.

    All I want is a realistic, in-depth, simulation football game to play, and this is not that game. It's unfortunate that this is the only option on the market. I will have to continue playing NCAA 14', Madden 08' & 12', and Head Coach 09' for another year.

    Every year, I tell myself that I am done with the Madden series, and I never follow through, but after being disappointed and, frankly, lied to for another consecutive year, it will take a hell of an effort for EA to ever get me to purchase another product that they develop.    … Expand

The franchise has declined year after year to the point where the game is just awful now, which is sad because all other game genres and other sport games have gotten better in that time. EA's decision was to purchase exclusive rights so they can get away with releasing mediocre games year after year. Instead of putting out an extremely good product, they decided to invest into a new arcade mode for the simulation football game- and have that be the only real update. So what you are left with is an extremely buggy, not well crafted and mediocre title with 4 or 5 mode options that are all awful. This game does nothing well and needs major patches to even function properly. It is an exact copy and paste of last years game with an added arcade mode. EA and the Madden franchise appears to have given up.

    Specifics:
    Franchise mode is bad, no depth, no ambition and needs completely thrown out and remade. The madden franchise was built on the pack of this mode and they have neglected it for a decade and we're just not playing anymore. I even enjoy messing around on MUT, but franchise is needs to be the most exciting feature to bring fans back. This mode is severely lacking in creativity and has no heart. On top of all the other issues, player progression is awful. Literally franchise mode was better 15 years ago on PS2 and GameCube.

    Yard is very surface level and has no depth with meaningless micro transactions. It's just a 3v3 football arcade game- you might as well not have a created player on it or attributes. Mode freezes a lot and countless other glitches will occur MUT is about 99% unchanged with same card art and format, same menu art and same bugs
    . Game will freeze when loading in. Also, same loading screens.

    The gameplay no longer resembles simulation football about half of the time. You will have a receiver not react to catch a ball at all, blockers just walk around during big plays. O-Line aimlessly twirling around. Players warping around and through each other. Mouth guards are somehow missing from the game, but they are in the new yard mode? You also can't create players really with custom faces other than yard mode. No creating a tem, or stadiums. You're forced to reuse the same basic handcuffed assets as the last 8 Maddens. This is the first year ever I'm not buying. The folks at Madden clearly have no idea or don't care to put out a worthy football game. This game is only better than football games from 15 years ago from graphics alone. (I played the 10 hour trial)    … Expand

    Superstar KO is about the same, and despite its gameplay issues, it's good to have this mode in the game.

    Franchise mode received bug fixes for it's year long development on the new game. Bug fixes. As a yearly game release, bug fixes shouldn't be all the changes that a game makes to advertise to make the public want to buy it. There were only some minor quality of life updates, bug fixes, and implementations of new rules that are expected of a simulation game.

    Face of the Franchise is decent. A cliche story that looks weak compared to 2k's, but it isn't too bad. It's great to have a separate player career mode back in Madden, but some fixes should be made to this mode too.

    Gameplay is a problem. Nothing has really improved, and it still is a buggy mess. EA tries to claim that Madden is simulation football, and has a license so no other company can make a "simulation" NFL game, yet things happen in Madden that never can in real life. There's been no positive changes in this area from Madden 20 to Madden 21.

    Graphics look cool, but adding a new color scheme and font to everything doesn't make the game better, the features need to work.

    The real question will be how the PS5/Xbox X console versions of Madden 21 will be. Given EA's rough jump from Xbox to Xbox 360, and Xbox 360 to Xbox 1, I do fear the worst.

    It's sad to see that Madden isn't just football anymore, it's just Ultimate Team. Sure you can do the Yard and Superstar KO, and even try it's watered down franchise and career mode, but it's really only worth it to play if you like Ultimate Team, which is a shame because there's large communities that like more than just the pay to win pack opening mode, but really can't enjoy their own modes.

    My advice is to keep Madden 20, and download the season roster updates that people have uploaded. You will find there isn't a huge difference, and the Yard at this stage isn't a strong enough mode to really warrant paying $60 for what otherwise is just Madden 20 with updated rosters and a new menu and color scheme.    … Expand

It's truly baffles me people actually pay full price (or more!) for this trash. I'm so glad I played this as a demo with a friend and didn't have to feel the deep regret of being swindled by purchasing this dumpster fire.

    Madden NFL 21 is another blatant recycling of last year’s edition of the „simulation“ of the American football. Sadly, most of the modes remained the same. Gameplay received a few minor tweaks, and in the end it still persists as a cash grab not worth anybody’s time.

    For NFL diehards, there remains hundreds of gaming hours at your disposal in Madden 21. These same diehards – much like players of EA’s NHL and Sony’s The Show – will be left with the impression they’ve played this game before, however.
