    Absolutely zero Improvement to franchise. All they care about is the gambling card game called MUT. It's a shame that EA has a monopoly on making simulation football games

    Horrible gameplay. Linebackers are still either 1000% op or 1000% useless. It's essentially just madden 15 with a roster update - which to be fair is every year. This year displays an new level of laziness, full of small, stupid bugs.

    This is horrible, EA just keeps ignoring the FOOTBALL fan and just focus on earning money through kids using MUT. It's disgusting. They have exclusive rights to a simulation football game, yet they don't care about that. They care only about MUT money.

    Somehow, EA tricks me every year into buying this game. I was lured this year by Face of The Franchise. I knew it wasn't going to be great, being a new mode and all, but I never thought it would be as cheesy and boring as it was. The game mode has no replay-ability due to a storyline that made absolutely no sense to me, and the outcomes of every action you take having no consequence. ISomehow, EA tricks me every year into buying this game. I was lured this year by Face of The Franchise. I knew it wasn't going to be great, being a new mode and all, but I never thought it would be as cheesy and boring as it was. The game mode has no replay-ability due to a storyline that made absolutely no sense to me, and the outcomes of every action you take having no consequence. I literally played as bad as I could and still made it to the NFL and started my rookie year.

    I do like some of the features, i.e. throwing out of a sack, quicker throwing animations, a slowed down defense, the ability to (kind of) throw the ball where I want, and a few other things, but these features where in older (and previous EA games) to begin with.

    All I want is a realistic, in-depth, simulation football game to play, and this is not that game. It's unfortunate that this is the only option on the market. I will have to continue playing NCAA 14', Madden 08' & 12', and Head Coach 09' for another year.

    Every year, I tell myself that I am done with the Madden series, and I never follow through, but after being disappointed and, frankly, lied to for another consecutive year, it will take a hell of an effort for EA to ever get me to purchase another product that they develop.    … Expand

It really is the epitome of not giving a damn about the consumer. Loading screen times are horrific, which is maybe positive because it prolongs the time until I have to play the horrific gameplay.

    The franchise mode is empty. There is no realism there is no logic. I consistently see Larry Fitzgerald being cut from the cardinals. Adrian Peters on cut from the redskins. It is ridiculous but hey if you wanna build a dream team just offer the colts 35cent and you can get your hands on 94 overall quenton nelson. The surprising thing to me is they actually didn't even upgrade ultimate team.
    But what ea did go away and do all year is spend time creating a buggy and lifeless mode called the yard which just about sums up the fact that they manage to con the nfl into thinking they create a simulation football game whilst being about as realistic as stevie wonder driving an a aeroplane.
    Also what Ea in all there wisdom have done have made the word Moore a profanity. Which to be honest really is a bummer because I used to enjoy calling all my friends moores but I guess we have to move with the times and stop people saying such heinous words.
    I rate this a 0 because it is completely unacceptable that a business the size of ea continues every year to put out an incomplete unrealistic piece off garbage. The writing is surelu on the wall for ea. Actually improve your game and stop allowing kids to gamble.

    In conclusion if you want an unrealistic buggy mess this game is for you. If you want to watch your o line miss easy blocks and then as your run further down field watch your wrs run away from blocking whilst just as your about to get a touchdown you get locked in an animation and are teleportrd into a defenders arm then this game is perfect for you.
    If you want a game that is not based off of skill but how badly you can cheese the game this is perfect. Need a touchdown te attack or slants will do fine because its unstobbbale maybe hb stretch cause there is no counterbalance. This game would be perfect if it was celebrating the achievements of what severely handicapped people can do when asked to make a game but unfortunately it is not it is made by one of the biggest company's in the world.

It’s quite obvious they put minimal effort into improving this game, and was completely okay with releasing it with the dozens of glitches and bugs that came with this game. The Yard is different, it’s just okay..... but it’s another way EA is trying to make more money off an already overpriced version of Madden 19. Funny thing is. When 2k comes outHonestly, it doesn’t even deserve a 5. It’s quite obvious they put minimal effort into improving this game, and was completely okay with releasing it with the dozens of glitches and bugs that came with this game.     I don't know what to say, the game is awful! EA should be ashamed of this game, but they are proud of it. How can you keep making this game so bad when you used to make this game so good?? You would think that with all the technology the game would be awesome, but that's not the case with Madden anymore, it keeps getting worse and worse.

    "Micro" being the key word.

    Aside from the plethora of absurd bugs, glitches, and inexcusable typos (Any "Seahacks" fans out there?), Franchise Mode has, also inexcusably, been untouched with the exception of the NFL's updated playoff structure, which is merely a patch.

    For fans who want simulation football, and Madden being the only simulation football game they can get their hands on, EA Sports should be ashamed of the unpolished, uninspiring, and completely unchanged game mode, Classic Franchise, that gives consumers a "simulation" experience.

    This gets us back to "micro."

    No one can deny the game modes that got the most amount of attention are Madden Ultimate Team and the new mode called The Yard. Why? Because those modes depend entirely on microtransactions.

    With the revenue Madden pulls in from microtransactions, from a capitalistic perspective, of course that's where the company is going to allocate their resources.

    But if arcade football that entices you to gamble your money away isn't your thing, why in the name of John Madden should EA be allowed to have an exclusive deal with the NFL to be the only simulation game, if they continue to grossly undeliver a simulation franchise mode?

    The answer is: They shouldn't be.

    EA should not be allowed to monopolize simulation football if they're going to continue delivering an underwhelming product to paying consumers who want an authentic simulation experience ripe with broadcast presentation you'd actually see on TV and fun features that were removed over a decade ago. (See YouTube and hop on social if you want specific examples. The #FixMaddenFranchise community has done an incredible job of putting together a solid case).

    Consumers deserve better. The NFL deserves better. NFL players deserve better.

    Unfortunately, microtransactions have ruined the Madden franchise.

    We're not going to see a better Franchise mode until gambling and microtransactions are removed from the game — and who knows when that will be.

    If you're looking for simulation football with a franchise mode that brings you back to the NFL 2K5 glory days, when Madden actually had competition, Madden NFL 21 is not your answer this year.

    Nor has it been for several years.

    And that's just sad.

Matthews literally enters the draft the same year as you even though you left college early when they named him the starter. Defeating the purpose of you entering the draft early.     THE YARD
    Got boring very quickly. They somehow managed to add mouthpieces and other gear in the yard but not the rest of the game. I'm not sure how that happens.

    both and got bored after an hour. The Yard is just trying to compete with 2K’s game, and FOTF is just a longer and somehow more boring and more scripted than last year. I got drafted to the Bears, just like everybody. I haven’t seen anyone get drafted    It’s literally the same game as last year. You pay $60 for a new font and color. Yeah you got FOTF and The Yard but honestly I played them

    EA honestly has run out of excuses at this point. It is an atrocious game preying on kids and dumb adults with its Ultimate Team and The Yard modes. The gameplay is awful and the features we used to have in the PS2, Xbox, GameCube days are still not in the game after 10+ years. I think I will stick to Madden 06. Do not buy.

Terrible body builds (players looks two skinny, weird knees, too big or too small helmets), Legacy warping issues, canned animations that pull players into or out of tackles regardless of momentum / physics, terrible animation for running and passing, no real character depth, NO NEW FRANCHISE ADDITIONS, just to name a few. This is what happens without competition,Where should i begin? We’ve gone 2 generations of console of almost no focus on the franchise mode. There is a couple Indie games doing it better than EA. #fixmaddenfranchise

    Also please add physics back into the game. Ignite engine was awesome.    Have been with Madden from the start and I can’t go yet another year of being ignored as one of the customers that supported and help build this sports gaming giant.     I agree with most of the reviews.. the game actually regressed?? GAME SPEED CAN'T BE CHANGE so it's like a arcade, the music is terrible but what made it worst there's no ORCHESTRA music... I personally only have the orchestra music because the music is always terrible. THE PENALTIES are cranked up and it does nothing for a simulation setting....     Madden 21 is just another re-iteration of the exact same poor product that EA has been releasing for the last 10 years. EA's complacency due to its anti-consumer stranglehold on the NFL simulation football license is just as apparent this year as it has been for the past decade.

    Franchise Mode: FM has once again gone completely untouched and still does not come close to resembling what the mode used to be in 2005. There is absolutely no depth and no replayability in Franchise mode or Face of the Franchise (the new attempt at Career Mode/Superstar Mode). Face of the Franchise is plagued with horrible cringeworthy writing and an extremely short storyline with meaningless "choices". The core Franchise community has been completely neglected once again in favor of focusing and investing in the pay-to-win arcade modes, mainly MUT. 5000 characters are not enough to explain everything that needs to be improved/fixed in Franchise Mode. I advised everyone to check out 3 channels on Youtube who have made extremely detailed videos outlining everything wrong with Madden Franchise Mode: ShutdownSafety21 (Ryan Moody), SOFTDRINKTV, and ThatFranchiseGuy. Keep the hashtag #FixMaddenFranchise trending on twitter, the community needs to keep our voices heard until EA restores Franchise mode to its former glory. The community deserves better.

    Gameplay: The gameplay is still the same handful of canned animations from the last 5 years that make every game extremely boring and predictable. Animations still fail to blend properly most of the time which causes awful-looking interactions between players, and most animations have visual cues that make it extremely easy to predict outcomes of a play. Referees are still missing which is still a major complaint that EA has yet to address. Overall, it is clear that the Frostbite engine is not capable of replicating real-life football, and EA really needs to rebuild this game on a physics-based engine. The addition of X-factors only serves to make the gameplay less like actual NFL simulation. This shift to dumbed-down arcade-style gameplay is clearly intended to appeal to younger players who are more inclined to carelessly spend money on microtransactions. The Madden devs and executive teams have lost any and all intentions of replicating real-life football.

    Presentation: Visual game-day presentation is the exact same bland repetitive animations from the last 5 years. This includes team entrances, sideline clips, and SB win celebrations. The pre-game, post-game, and half-time shows/reports are extremely inadequate in giving you stats/storylines about the game and the season in general. The commentary library consists of the same boring and predictable lines that we have been hearing for the past 5 years. The commentary team is devoid of any personality or passion and often say lines that are irrelevant to what is happening on the field. Madden desperately needs a complete presentation overhaul to get on par with NBA2K's presentation and commentary.

    In conclusion, Madden 21 gets a 0 because of what it should have been.     Played it since it dropped on EA Play, and preordered the deluxe version to play early, and the entire time, it’s been a broken mess. I actually got a refund through PSN because of the issues. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone in the state. It’s going to need multiple patches to even work properly, let alone be judged by it’s content.

Your moms should slap you for investing all these "resources" you evidently don't have to improve Franchise mode and allocating them to this awful, unplayable, unfun, and unrealistic "simulation". EA has an exclusivity deal with the No Fun League to create a simulated experience, no? Where is this supposed "simulation"? I'll tell you where it isn't- it isn't in the mechanics, game play experience, or anywhere in MUT, the yard, or the hellscape that is your replacement of the already cringeworthy Story Mode.

    I'm wasting my time. If I could give this a -10, I'd give it a -100.

Years of neglect for the core game mode franchise has made this an incredibly stale game game for anyone who enjoys NFL simulation football. EA should just move to two year cycles for franchise mode development and not get our hopes up.

One example off the top of my head, Miles Garrett's X Factor description lists him as 23 and not 24. It was ripped directly from last year's title. This is a small detail, but it goes to show how little care was put into making the game feel unique. The developers are aware of the fact that they are lazy and are too lazy to hide their laziness.

    The game-play feels pretty untouched from last year. The jukes feel a bit slower and I find that the CPU gets called on pass interference fairly often. Outside of that, the game plays very similar to last year. If you liked the game-play in 2020, this game-play will be no different.

    They included a new game mode called Yard. It feels like a combination of Superstar KO and NFL Street. It's reasonably fun, but very arcade-y. EA owns the rights to make a simulation style NFL game, and instead have focused on the arcade aspects.

    Franchise mode is completely unchanged aside from a change in color and the font is bolded. That's it. I cannot find a single other difference. This is by far the most egregious issues because fans have been outspoken for their wish for improved franchise modes.

    Overall, I know nothing I or other reviewers say will change anything. It's like when you're realizing that you can't change your S.O. and have to let them go. I think it's time I let Madden go. I know EA won't miss me, but I miss Madden.    … Expand

That and in a game which heavily features a mobile QB like Lamar Jackson, they probably should have left QB contain as a presnap line adjustment for your defense. I honestly enjoyed last years madden a lit more, as ushering a fast LB could overcome a lot of the AI flaws on defense. This year you just have to let the offense do what ever they want and hope you can stop them in the red zone or force a fumble.… Expand

Lead blocking is joke, the FB or pulling lineman will run right passed a LB and watch you get destroyed as he continues up field to block the safety after you already got stuffed. Pass trajectories are still god awful, touch passes don’t exist. The game is still HEAVILY animation dependent which sucks. It’s the reason you get sucked into blockers and get weird unrealistic stops at the 1 yard line instead of scoring. The announcers are still bad. They don’t follow what’s happening on the field very well and sometimes just flat out make no sense. Example “First and goal from the the 10 after the costly fumble but they can still pick up a 1st down.” Meanwhile I’m on my own 10 and it’s clearly not first and goal. Or, play as the Packers and hand the ball to AJ Dillon and laugh as they call him Walter Payton lol.

    As long as Madden uses the Frostbite engine I don’t think the gameplay will ever actually get better. The same issues we’ve had for a decade still exist. It’s very disheartening at this point. If you were planning on getting Madden 21 I’d wait and see what it looks like on next gen consoles if you can afford it. If not just download the latest rosters from Madden share on Madden 20 and enjoy. Unless all you care about is MUT and you’re addicted to gambling and throwing money away, then this game is perfect for you.    … Expand

I pre ordered the game in hope that maybe EA would follow through but I should have know they will never do more than what is required, the bare minimum.     Yet another roster update. Played the game via EA access trial and in my FIRST GAME bumped into glitches and bugs that remained in Madden for the past couple of years. This game is a spit in the face for football fans, I truly hope another football franchise game series can somehow compete because anything is better than the copy and paste garbage we receive year after year.

A huge majority of my issues are persistant issues from game to game. Littered with bugs, completely unplayable at times. There are too many times where a player does a balancing act on their facemask for 15 second. Just for an opposing player to be the only one who grabs it, because EA Tiburons idea of simulation football is to completely script events to make the game "harder" when in all actuality. All that they're doing is making you want to turn the game off.

    For 7 years, Franchise Mode has remained a stain on this community, the lack of love and effort for this project is glaring. There is not a single developer in that ideas room that knows football.

Franchise Mode received a color change, patch notes, and an updated playoff format. Even when we expected the bare minimum they somehow went less than that. Nearly all game modes are nearly unplayable with glitches, bugs,and crashes. Face of the Franchise is a broken joke that was written by a team of teenagers. Even Madden's baby, MUT suffers by terrible lag times on the menu and crashes. It is very difficult to see any improvements over an entire year. This version will leave a bad taste in fans mouths for years to come.     Yes, please rent this at a redbox or sign up for ea access and play it for 10 hours. thats all the time youll need to realize this game is not complete, absolutely broken and unplayable. you cant even get through the menus without constantly waiting and while you are in a game, the screen stutters and flickers. even freezes when you score a touchdown. unplayable - ea has lost their way.

    It’s just not good. Competition breeds greatness. EA has gotten away with a mediocre NFL game for far too long. All they need is competition, bring NFL2K back! This is the year NFL fans who loves a great NFL game takes a stand against the ONLY football game that’s out here. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! Force EA to do better!

    I have played Madden since 04 and this game gets more disrespectful to the fanbase as the years go on. They are literally feeding us the same game play with even worse game play than ever. Its insane smh, so embarrassing its a waste of time and money. Do not get! Just play Madden 20 if you are a masochist and save 60+ bucks.

    Madden NFL 21 is another blatant recycling of last year’s edition of the „simulation“ of the American football. Sadly, most of the modes remained the same. Gameplay received a few minor tweaks, and in the end it still persists as a cash grab not worth anybody’s time.

    For NFL diehards, there remains hundreds of gaming hours at your disposal in Madden 21. These same diehards – much like players of EA’s NHL and Sony’s The Show – will be left with the impression they’ve played this game before, however.
