    I took a dump in my toilet, stood up, turned around to look at it, then looked at a pic of Madden 21 and put them side by side and I couldn’t tell the difference. EA.... your game is garbage.

    I have spent well over a 1000 hours on this game over the past ten years and at this point I'm beyond fed up. Its incredible to see a franchise absolutely run straight into the ground, but over this console generation we haven't seen ANY improvements to long standing issues. This year, following in the footsteps of its previous installments, the game has gotten WORSE. Zero updates to franchise mode. Community requests go ignored again. Gameplay remains flawed.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly I've only played this game for about 1 hour and I already want to frisbee this disc into the Pacific Ocean. That would be more entertaining anyways. The bugs require a damn exterminator at this point, the O-lineman block each other more often than they block an opposing defender. Animations are somehow even more rampant than they were last year. There is no point in getting the game if you're not a fan of Ultimate Team. FOTF is The Room levels of horrible writing, Yard is just a flimsy attempt of "competing" with 2K and The Show. Franchise, the mode that should be the bread and butter of a supposed NFL Simulation game, is the exact copy and paste same as the last couple of years. It's even worse because draft prospects are so much less likely to have a hidden development trait, which was the sole purpose of me playing the game last year. Announcers are still recycled and boring as all hell, kickers are nerfed, they can't get player names, ages, or contract lengths right. I heard an announcer say that I was about to head into super bowl 23. The NFL Regular season can't come sooner, because this game has me Jonesing for some actual, real life football.… Expand

    This game is atrocious. Same game as Madden 20, which was a bad game. Franchise mode has been the same for years. All they added was pass rush moves and the yard. This game should be a 6 max. I’m giving it a 0 because EA has ran out of excuses in my eyes. Do not buy!!!!

    Same garbage game with garbage animations year after year. I told myself I wouldn’t buy it this year but it being the only football simulation game I caved. Worst 60 dollars I’ve ever spent.. well besides on Madden 20, 19, 18 etc. last year I purchase this garbage game for sure though.

Há vários glitchs, quase sempre há erro na tela de salvamento automático, ou quando acaba uma partida, cansei de perder semanas de jogos por causa dessas merdas, tendo que forçar vitórias, mudando toda liga.     Same game as 20 and they made no changes to franchise mode. So many glitches from day 1 and have yet to fix any of them when the game has been out for over a week with ea access. EA does not care about the quality of the game, they just care about the money.

From the constant glitches/ lagging, to the constant force quit the game does, to the fact that I can’t get past week 3 in franchise mode w/o the game crashing, to seeing the same game recycled for over 5 years with slight(emphasis on slight) additions each year, to seeing videos online of ppl finding Madden 19 & 20 logos IN Madden 21. It’s literally SOOOOO many places to begin and SOOOOO many problems that need to unpacked. For years, each madden has lacked individuality from each other to the point where each madden that comes out is just seen as a roster update. Granted, the addition of “the yard” was an excellent idea that has potential, but with the crashing, it’s almost impossible to play. Why aren’t there more customizations for created players(i.e. more hairstyles like dreadlocks or facial hair styles like full beards; more customization of gear for created players in franchise mode). Its sad that EA continues to put out mediocre content because they know people will buy it. I truly don’t think they care about the games they make. That’s why NBA Live was cancelled indefinitely because they don’t put in effort into their content. Maybe 2K Sports should just take over making video games for the NFL again because EA Sports is literally limping to the barn with the games they’ve been making for YEARS. Before Madden 20 and 21 the last Madden I bought was madden 25 I’m thankful I was able to save my money all those years in between. I really feel bad for the younger kids who saved their money or didnt ask for anything else from their parents(DURING A PANDEMIC) just to buy a game they you can barely play and is just a copy of the last edition. EA needs to pass the torch to somebody who’ll do Madden justice and they can stick to FIFA, UFC, and whatever else because this is honestly atrocious.… Expand

    Same game as madden 20, but with more microtransactions, Franchise mode still sucks and hasnt been updated in almost a decade. If you have madden 19 or 20, just download the rosters and draft class. Your wallet will thank you.

    Buggy, broken gameplay. Recycled content. Very few new features. It literally took 20 minutes of gameplay before encountering a game breaking bug where thr ball was hiked and just floated behind the line while all players from both teams tried in vain to recover it. Horrible. Steer clear.

Many of the animations are recycled, as are the commentators which are GOD AWFUL, and are once again unrealistic; not to mention the many bugs that come along with them. Ultimate Team has the right foundation, but they need to inputMadden 21’s downsides weigh out the upsides unfortunately. An already offensive-dominant game now has possibly the worst defense in any Madden game to date. Many of the animations are recycled, as are the commentators which are GOD AWFUL, and are once again unrealistic; not to mention the many bugs that come along with them. Ultimate Team has the right foundation, but they need to input more effort. The Yard was a good addition, however it lacks content. Not fun unless you’re playing with friends.

    Franchise Mode is once again ignored and boring. It lacks options- EA clearly doesn’t care about this mode unfortunately because it’s and exact copy and paste. There is so much untapped potential in the game mode.

    Face of the Franchise is cheesy and unrealistic. It’s far too easy and predictable. They should go back to the route that they had in the last NCAAF game. Plus the storyline cuts off after you make it to the NFL. It feels unrewarding.

    Summary: Madden 20 was a step in the right direction, but Madden 21 just feels like a dud. It’s boring, and it’s too similar to Madden 20. Many of the game modes don’t have enough content or were just recycled from last year. It’s unfortunate however I’m sure the pandemic had something to do with the obvious lack of effort    … Expand

Look this game has its ups with the yard and superstar ko those two game modes are probably the most fun to play right now but the other game modes like face of the franchise it was so hyped up and I was excited but it was terrible it had a good storyline but god just let me play the games at least would rather just transfer it to classic franchise then just playing my division rivals for like 3 years in a row the game is super buggy misspellings everywhere and most importantly franchise what a disappointment they literally copied and pasted it it still has super bow 54 like how ea how are you that dumb no not play this game until it actually gets good not worth any money… Expand

Superstar KO is the same every part of it, you get no satisfaction after you win all 5 games. Then you have franchise where they dont even add anything year after year after year.     $$$ is all that EA is worried about. And I'm surprised they haven't just eliminated franchise mode all together with how little thought they've put into it. Maybe once they show love to the most popular game mode, then they'll recover a little bit of reputation. But until then, no one should buy another Madden game

The “updates” to this game are plain and simply pathetic. The Yard would be a cool upgrade to this title, if they had first fleshed out their horrible gameplay, and stale other game modes. At this point, the best thing that could happen to Madden would either be the loss of its exclusive license, or the de-legalization of loot boxes in the gaming industry.     EA execs have neglected Madden fans for years and this year is the tipping point. This game is a shell of its former self on life support. For years important core features have been removed from the simulation experience EA has the exclusive contract to deliver in favor of microtransactions.

    I'm personally of the opinion this game will not be quality until two dominoes fall, both pertaining to franchise mode, the simulation game mode only EA can make. First, full team staffs need added. This game has head coaches and owners. That's it. We need full front offices with rated owners, general managers, and scouting departments. We need full coaching staffs with rated offensive, defensive, and special teams coordinators. Position coaches would be nice, but everything just mentioned prior are in other sport video games. There's no excuse for them to not be in Madden. Second, Madden needs to add compensatory picks. This is tied for my most important domino because this is essential for other features to work functionally. Trade logic, free agency, meaningful scouting, and draft class depth will never be correct until compensatory picks are added to the game. Baseball has arbitration, in their video game. Basketball has bird rights, in their video game. A simulation football experience needs compensatory picks. It doesn't even need to be perfect as compensatory picks are commonly a guessing game, but they impact so much that it cannot be excluded from the simulation experience franchise mode. We are always missing an entire round of players being drafted without them just for starters.

    Scouting needs completely overhauled. Knowing the top three attributes of players and their combine isn't enough. Partner with The Draft Network, ESPN, NFL Network, and Bleacher Report. Have each of them provide scouting reports for each player so we can see multiple opinions on the same player. Then give us a full combine experience where we can question players individually to learn about their character. Character then fits with team culture and chemistry. This paragraph alone should tell you how much immersion is missing from the game.

    Gameplay is also terrible. It is animation based and ridiculously holographic. Players are commonly going through players; the ball constantly goes through players. The OL has no logic and sense of creating a pocket. Referees don't exist, they do in NBA and MLB video games. MLB even includes calling tendencies. Madden doesn't even have defensive holding, one of the most commonly flagged penalties in the NFL, in their game. Give us rated zebra crews with their flag throwing tendencies and accuracy. Give us replays of the penalty with commentary on if they got it correct. Challenges are also pointless. The game needs to give us a menu of what we're challenging. That's just the tip of the iceberg for gameplay issues.

    I don't play MUT because it promotes children gambling. I'm not qualified to review it, but I hear it is also a copy and paste from last season.

    Madden added They Yard, an arcade mode that adds additional revenue streams for EA through microtransactions. While this mode has plenty of potential to become something awesome, this was not the year to add a new mode.

    The main consumer fan base for Madden is their franchise players. For years, we fans have been asking for so many features. This review by no means includes everything Madden needs to add to its simulation football experience or needs to improve about its gameplay. I could write an entire thesis paper of ways to improve this game.

    Final lines: Madden is a shell of its former self. It's a good to great arcade game, but EA has the exclusive rights to deliver a simulation experience. Imagine you or I as a person hiring an interior designer, which EA is. You hire them to create a nursery room. They give you an arcade room decked out with games requiring coins to play that designer EA continues to profit on. If that happened, the designer would get an awful review and should be fired. That's what Madden is and why they are being deservedly slammed with negative reviews, including this one. I recommend boycotting this game until the executives at EA step back and let the developers create the simulation experience EA used to deliver decently well in the once great Madden game. This game spits on everything John Madden stood for when he agreed to let his name be used for the game. EA should be ashamed. Hopefully they listen for Madden 22. To quote the judge in Billy Madison, I award them 0 points, and may God have mercy on the souls of the executives at EA who dictate what is developed in Madden.    … Expand

    Absolute trash!!! I would spend the money to sue EA but they are always sure to cover themselves in the terms of service agreement. Anyone who had a say in the development of this game or lack of should go to prison. I’ve given them too many passes for all the good they did in the past but now this game is just a casino. A glitch filled casino and the people running it need to be exposed.

    Madden NFL 21 is another blatant recycling of last year’s edition of the „simulation“ of the American football. Sadly, most of the modes remained the same. Gameplay received a few minor tweaks, and in the end it still persists as a cash grab not worth anybody’s time.

    For NFL diehards, there remains hundreds of gaming hours at your disposal in Madden 21. These same diehards – much like players of EA’s NHL and Sony’s The Show – will be left with the impression they’ve played this game before, however.
