I really think this is a fine game, great productions and combat mixed with a fairly interesting plot... just hope this doesn't mean the end for turn-based fun, still think the reviews are way too low for what this game is.

Guess they coudn't follow. The only thing holding it back are some of the side activities they feel like time killers and aren't as polished as the rest of the games.. Not to forget the game has the witcher/skyrim story syndrome; You're off to a important main mission but start to forget all about it doing side activities lol. Great game and recommended for any gamer. Expand

I never thought I would say this, but Final Fantasy 15 is actually pretty good. I loved 4,6,7 & 9 but 10,12 & 13 all left a fairly bad taste in my mouth, not saying they were bad games they just weren't my preferred entries. I went in to 15 with low expectations, especially with it quartet of kpop boyband idols, I came out shocked. I found myself lost exploring the beautiful open world taking on dozens of side quests for hours without touching the story. Much like the tie in film kingsglaive I found the story very rushed, poorly written and hard to follow for the most part. But the gameplay itself makes up for those shortcomings. The combat is a joy, being fairly easy to learn but hard to master. I also very much enjoyed the modern designs of classic series creatures and the modernized high fantasy world. A little disappointing is the lack of Nobou Umatses score writing, making the soundtrack a bit forgettable. This game actually renewed my interest in the series which I never would have expected. The people who rate this game 0's are actual idiots, what goes through their mind rating a game like this a 0 is just mind blowing, dont listen to those idiots.
This game beautifully delivers what most JRPGs fans want.
Story, Battle system, Characters, and Side quests were made great. This game will definitely keep me busy for a longggg time!

    Pros:
    - Best looking game I've probably ever played.
    - The characters and story are overflowing with humanity. - Unbelievably smooth, innovative and exciting combat system. - The Ascension (leveling grid) system is well designed and offers plenty of incentive. - The open world is teeming with side-quests, loot and monsters of all different shapes and sizes. - A truly thoughtful style

    - The Ascension (leveling grid) system is well designed and offers plenty of incentive.
    - The open world is teeming with side-quests, loot and monsters of all different shapes and sizes.
    - A truly thoughtful style and art direction that uniquely blends fantasy with realism.
    - The ability to choose between all the old FF soundtracks during road trips.
    - Definitely has that 'addictive' factor.

    Cons:
    - Good story but not enough of it.
    - You cannot save in certain areas (this one isn't that big of a deal because it makes it similar to old FF games, but in this day and age it feels like a handicap)
    - No spell hierarchy (that I'm aware of yet at least)
    - They have completely ditched the traditional Final Fantasy battle system.
    - The combat takes some getting used to and enemies are very strong until you do sufficient grinding.
    - Summons are...pretty different.
    - The main story missions tend to shove you into a linear corridor that can sometimes become frustrating or tedious. Most of the time they're extremely fun though.
    - Some of the music feels stock and gets on your nerves (Lestallum's first theme song)
    - Not enough clothing options.
    - Playable character costume design couldn't be more boring.
    - Lack of playable female characters

Despite its flaws, it still comes out on top. As someone who has been a longtime fan of the Final Fantasy series, I can honestly say this is a seriously good game that is definitely worth playing. Buy it. Love it. Do it.

As a huge Fan of the Final Fantasy Series (ranked as followed: 8, 7, 4, 6, 10, 12, 9, 13) its an Understatement to say that I was lookin Forward to 15. And after seing "Brotherhood" and "Kingsglaive" my Hype got beyond any measure.

So I locked myself up with the game along with the official Piggyback Guide (man I love those!).
And since i gave this game the highest score there is on here you can already guess what I think about it.
    FF15 is outstanding.
And sure not without its flaws.
Yes, the ending chapters leave some to be desired (Ive seen worse though lol).
The Magic and Summon System is Overall completely unneccessary (for the main Story Content it is).
There are no real Towns or Cities to explore, those that are in the game leave too much to be desired (no chatting with random People, no exploring townspeople houses).
"Safe Areas" where you can Rest, fuel the Car or shop items all look the same which leaves a copy/paste Feeling.
Side Quests are mostly fetch quests, lots of running here and there.
No direct commands for Team Mates. Overall difficulty (Main Story) way too easy, especially with plenty of items at Hand.
The loading times are insanely Long and there are way too much of them especially when you fast travel.
The camera is hectic and disturbed and even at its best moments it leaves some to be desired still since I often had a Feeling I dont really have all the control of things that I would Need.

So, after reading all of this you may think why the hell i even thought of giving this game anything more than a 6 or 7. And to be honest, I do too after reading it lol (just kidding).
But despite all those flaws (some of them to get patched still in future updates) FF15 is a masterpiece.
The characters are extremely well done and I really cared for them. The Story is evolving and gripping, the overall game world is just a sight to behold and full of mystery - it begs to be explored.
The fighting in General is also exceptionally addictive and the gameworld is breathtakingly beautiful and Exploring it gets rewarded. Theres Content to Keep you playin for about 200hours if you are that dedicated.
The combat feels just great. Switching between Weapons/Fighting Styles makes up for plenty of great Encounters, some post game Content (Mob Hunts, Menace Dungeons) will test even the skilled FF Veterans.
FF15 has so much charme and aesthetics, its production values Show in almost every aspect of the game.
It has its flaws, and I can somewhat understand all Fans that are disappointed, as there are many parts of the game that leave more than just one Thing to be desired still.
My heart screams 10/10, but I leave it at a 9, simply because that there are many things that could have been way better. Its been promised to be updated constantly, with some paid DLCs as well as free ones, along to some Major Changes in the game itself (so theres hope that at least the technical flaws like the camera and loading times will get patched) - so FF15 will also be big in 2017 still.
It may not be the best of the series (but judging this is beyond any human measure lol), but for me as a die hard FF Fan I was captivated as much like no other RPG could in the last years - a Thing that only FF does to me, and this makes FF so magical and Special to me.

What an amazing Final Fantasy! Yes, it has flaws in many aspects, but the overall joy is tremendous. Not everyone will love it, but it certainly brings new feats to the genre as Final Fantasy always did.
The best part? This is the transition, finally. I hope and feel Final Fantasy XVI will break boundaries.

But it is a little small considering how long the development took. The cities are beautifully made although they're few in number. The enemies and mobs are also very well made, though still relatively few in number (considering the world size). You'll find that they're reused quite often. I can't really explain how beautiful the game world is through words. I don't think there's any other game with a world that is quite as well made.

Combat is also awesome. It's engaging and fast paced. At the start till somewhere in the middle. I have 2 gripes with combat. The extremely low number of equipment, and the fact that skills don't really affect combat much. They don't open new mechanics and combat CAN, eventually, get kind of stale after a while.

The biggest con: the story. The story... or seemingly non-existent one. If you could do a speedrun, I'd reckon that you could finish the story in an hour. I spent more (LOTS OF) time with miscellaneous quests and leveling up rather than the story itself. Of course, given the crazy beautiful game world, I didn't mind them much at all. But the story was not well told, it was short, lacked depth and it was forgettable. The characters themselves are well made. You grow closer to them not through the story, but through constant interactions with them throughout the game.

I don't consider the car mechanic a con unlike some other reviewers. Yes, sometimes it feels like a drag. But I understand the design choice made by the developers. If you could fast travel at anytime, you wouldn't be able to appreciate the visuals, and there wouldn't be a reason to put that much effort into world creation. (Also the reason for the chocobo travel mechanic). But if you just want a fast paced action game, this isn't for you. Take a moment to look at the game world around your character. Listen to the beautiful BGM. Listen to the banter from your teammates. Appreciate how well the game is made. Stop **** about how long it takes or how much of a pain it is. And you'll find yourself loving the game more for it.

Which is why I'm giving this game a 15/10 just because of the beautiful game world, and deducting 6 for the crappy story. 15-6=9/10

Consequently, each entry has both its avid supporters and vocal detractors among its own fan base and the gamer community in general. I know plenty of people who's favorite Final Fantasy games are some that I consider low points for the franchise. Final Fantasy XV is no different. It can't be everything to everyone. But it comes about as close as any game can!

Final Fantasy XV tells a very grand, epic story (as you'd expect) punctuated with small, personal moments. It drew me in from the first moments of its very understated beginning. When I play a game, what I look for more than almost anything else is a world worth living in. After all, that's what we do when we play a game, we get to live in a different world. And the world of Final Fantasy XV is massive and full of beauty, danger, and delight. There's so much to explore and do in the world that it's easy to lose sight of the story.

The battle system is quite fun. It has just enough variety and strategy (if you choose to take the less brute force approach) to keep it interesting. I didn't care for the magic system - just my preference, it wasn't fundamentally flawed or anything - and I wish there was a greater degree of control over the summons. I would've like to see more summons as well, if only because the provide the game with some of its most breathtaking spectacle.

Final Fantasy XV is a game worth experiencing. I highly recommend it. I've loved nearly every moment in this game, and I think it bodes very well for the future of the franchise.

Final Fantasy XV finally hits the shelves, being announced a decade ago and having to be delayed over and over again. Final Fantasy gives us a new story, new gameplay mechanics, and new characters. Does this game triumph or does it suffer the Duke Nukem effect? Let’s find out.

Story: You play as prince Noctis as he is about to embark on a life-changing journey/adventure with his friend, Ignis (cook), Prompto (best friend), and Gladiolus (bodyguard). You begin by leaving your kingdom to go get married to Lady Luna Freya, to make an alliance between his kingdom and hers. Early on in his journey Prince Noctis and his friends come to discover that the imperial army has taken over his kingdom, his father has been killed, and his bride to be is missing. So now it is up to him and his loyal companions to take down the imperial army and reclaim their kingdom.

Gameplay: Final Fantasy XV is a bit different than what some classic fans are used to, being familiar with the linear turn based RPG; that is not the case here. Final Fantasy XV is a game that combines both linear and open-world gaming; the first half of the game is open world with lots of side content, and the second half is completely linear. The combat is totally different and much more in depth than expected; this includes some timely countering, dodging and combining combos with your party. You can assign your party special attacks; along your adventure you can upgrade their abilities, and their natural abilities such as cooking, fishing, and photography. Another big part of this game is the traveling, you have a special car that takes you place to place which is mostly driven by Ignis, but when you choose to drive the controls are so stiff with the car you are better off fast traveling or just having Ignis drive the whole time. The bond between the four friends is quite remarkable and you see how it becomes stronger as the story progresses. When you’re not out in the field taking some monster down for some extra XP or driving to the next check point you are exploring dungeons, eating food, and collecting resources.

Graphics: Final Fantasy XV does not disappoint when it comes to the graphics, improving from its predecessors and living up to the expectations of a next-gen game. Final Fantasy has always pushed the limits regarding its visuals, and XV does just that.

Verdict: Final Fantasy XV delivers; for a game that did not have my interest, once I had it in my hands I could not put it down. With a fantastic story, unique characters, in depth combat, wonderful RPG elements, and a ton of weaponry to choose from, Final Fantasy XV is a game you do not want to skip out on this holiday season.

+ Summons have a purpose not like in other FF like VII where you just put their materia in you weapon and that's it.
+ Dungeons are pretty good with multiple paths

+ but - Boss battles are epic but some are a mess (still a memorable mess)

    - The plot doesn't explains itself that good at the end
    - You have to watch “Brotherhood” to connect to the characters and “Kingsglaive” to get what’s happening because like I just said, the plot isn’t that self-explanatory
    - Parts of the story were left out for future DLCs
    - The regalia mechanics are very limited (in the “Regalia type-F” too) and are the reason I have seen the “Game Over” screen.

In conclusion, this new Final Fantasy formula works, this is a must-buy for fans and newcomers. The story has it's problems but still a memorable entry in the saga

-Everything is very beautiful and neat in the game really something fascinating to come across during the Gameplays.
-The soundtracks are amazing as you would expect and it fits very well in every situation of the game.
    - Beautiful graphics (PS4), animations and effects are well developed and the summons appearances are also excellent.
-The story is good plus for those who did not watch "Kingsglaive" really will not understand much since the game quotes the events of the movie and this ends up being recommended before playing.
-The proposal of the mode of combat and exploration are great but a little limited in some situations and in the combat that there are not many spells and summons as usual, but it has that expansive quality as always.

    Summarizing everything- -Some Negatives
-Graphics- 9.0 -Low amounts of spells and summons in the game-
-SoundTracks- 9.5 -The beginning of the game is a little slow-
-History- 9.0 -The World Map is small without counting the Dungeons-
    -Gameplay- 8.9

    Pros:
    Great graphics
    Great combat
    Great story
    Awesome character development

    Cons:
Magic graphics limited to the base elements :(
I don't particularly like to travel for v long distance but of course the car and the fast travel helps a lot.

It's the game that Final Fantasy XIII should have been. Throughout the entire of the PS3 life cycle there was a clear lack of AAA JRPG's and those that did grace the platform, did so only to disappoint.

Is Final Fantasy XV a perfect game? No. Is it the best Final Fantasy game? No. But it's without a doubt the best entry we've had since Final Fantasy X and it returns the franchise to its former glory.

For a start FFXV's soundtrack composed by Yoko Shimomura may be the best FF soundtrack of all time. (Yes you read that right), each track is more memorable than the last and in the heat of battle these arrangements will send shivers down your spine.

The battle system whilst not entirely perfect is the best battle system we've had in over a decade, over the last few instalments Square have tried to find something between the turn based ATB system & real time combat, but the truth is none of them really worked. By allowing FFXV to be dominated by real time combat you get a combat system that works for both newcomers and a hardcore fan base and not only that but the battles are actually really fun, aside from the severe lack of magic & summons.

The story can be hard to follow at times, but what did you expect? this is Final Fantasy!
Thankfully the world of Eos is a beautifully realised one, where the people you meet and the places you visit feel just as real as the controller in your hand. The core of the story is relatively short for a Final Fantasy game but that's only because there is so much optional stuff to do in the world that adds to it.

At the end of the day the story of Final Fantasy isn't about a prince trying to reclaim his throne.
It's about the journey you take to get there.. and what a story it is.

Combat is actually pretty good, its fun and fast paced, but at the same time it can be a little bit difficult to tell whats going on due to the camera not really being able to keep up. However if you opt to choose wait mode, which is a slower approach to combat were you can plan out your attacks (which is something the long time fans may prefer if they would rather turn-based combat) the problems with the camera will probably cease.

The characters who everyone was probably a bit worried about are actually pretty likeable and I find myself really getting attached to them, there is a real sense of camaraderie with Gladiolus, Ignis and Prompto as you endeavour on this epic road trip.

A feature I thought might be a bit pointless was that Prompto actually takes photos of each day in game, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised, it's actually a pretty nice touch-he takes some pretty cool photos which range from action shots of you fighting and group photos- all of which are memories you'll be looking back upon fondly.

The soundtrack is also fantastic, it's really the icing on the cake on whats a really good game.

There are some parts were pacing problems here and there, driving (whilst by no means is bad) may be a bit disappointing because it tends to be automatic a fair bit (you will get your chance to drive though) and along with the occasional bug, Final Fantasy is not a perfect game-but there really isn't such a thing and all that matters in the end is if you enjoyed the game or not and to say I enjoy Final Fantasy 15 is an understatement.

One of the greatest things that Final Fantasy does is changes itself to fit with the times. The characters work beautifully and you get truly engulfed in the world. Some of the greatest scenes in the game are the simplest. Just driving before nightfall, watching the sun set over the mountains reminds you of all the little details that were so elegantly put into creating this game.

I wanted to treat it like a hack and slash style game, and not the Diablo esq hold down the button game it is. I am saddened that magic doesn't play as big of a role in this game, but the combat system is fun and makes up for the lack of magic. I hope to see magic get a better role in XVI. The story presentation is well done IMO, and allows you to take breaks when you see fit like older FF games. My only complaint so far is that trying to venture out into the world at night when your still in early game is a near death sentence because most of the monsters will vastly outclass you. Overall I'm extremely happy with XV so far. It has given me hope for future titles of the Final Fantasy series. Final Fantasy XV has mixed mostly positive reviews but I feel that the criticisms are ill placed. In this review I hope to first adress these criticisms and then give my own opinion on how te game feels for me.

People have criticised the main cast of characters. I hope that my opinion here can change some peoples opinions. Despite the characters being 4 different stereo types that are pretty generic in games , stoic to lively really is the scale. They do look like a boy band and in a lot of ways behave as such. The thing is once you commit to the characters and begin role playing as Noctis ( This is a roleplaying game ) then you begin to see that they are close friends and you can see why. It genuinely feels like these guys are close. Thing is the voice work can be bad at times ( well in English anyway) but the thing is real life is also like that. The story is Final Fantasy which is without spoiling anything very much Final Fantasy template , Start with small objective then it turns out you need to do much more for the world. ( This is the exception of XIII , Which to this day I am still trying to figure on what the hell was going on).

The Story is a bit convoluted without having watched Kingsglaive or Brotherhood. I will say that is why they are there brotherhood can be watched anywhere , and Kingsglaive costs 5 on youtube to watch, if you are committed to the roleplay then they are both excellent editions and really set us up for this world.

The next mixed reaction was with the combat. I want to make something very clear , the combat is excellent and very deep when looked at in depth. It's not just a simple sphere grid system. As you level you gain health and mp, But more importantly you gain AP. This is key to your success. Sure you can spend them all on noctis but in the long run that will back fire. I personally chose my abilities to suit my style and strategy. I gave Ignis techniques that would heal us better , I gave gladiolus Techniques that would either deal major damage or shield me and I gave prompto the ability to manipulate the battle field. It's correct use of these skills that allowed me to clear missions well above my level. You need to sit down and decide what your strategy is. Yes Magic now does friendly fire damage but noctis can get a birdseye view of the battle field. Best example is I was ambushed by imperial troops there melee warriors came right at us but they had 6-7 snipers in the back. These snipers stopped me from countering and from dodging in the melee fray. I teleported to the high ground and hit them with ice allowing me room to breath. I then used noctis to clean them out while the others fought against the crowd of melee. It was a beautifully realised fight and when the strategy pays off it feels amazing.

I want to quickly summarise my View of the other features of the game.

    - There are array of side quests and they are plenty of them

    - the combat is as deep as you make it

    - Story is great , just commit to the roleplay

    - Graphics are beautiful

My only criticism is that time to time the car drives can be a bt droll.

All in All its a must play for fans and new players

Cons: Not a traditional FF game, or JRPG for that matter. I've played almost every FF game that existed, and I loved them, so this major change in style leaves me mourning the loss of a FF I once knew. That said, things change. Also, there are moments the camera is broken, mainly due to confined spaces. Some repetitive voice overs when out and about, doing mundane tasks. Not a huge fan of the magic system (basically, you make magic "bombs").

Personally I don't play a game again if I am not hooked after about 3 hours of gameplay. That being said. Im HOOKED.

I am a long time fan of the FF series. My favorite being VII. I am a big fan of the older system being turn-based combat, and being in full control of every character. I currently still replay X ever since the PS4 remake came out. But this system feels fresh and even though the camera has trouble keeping up The combat feels fluid. To make this easier to read I am going to split this into sections below.

Combat: 10/10 Everything is real time, unless you decide to use wait mode, which I tried using and it definitely brings back the feel of a turn-based action game. But I preferred this with wait mode off. The game was made for the live fast paced action. Hordes of creatures, or sometimes just one big daemon swinging at you or charging you while you dodge and phase through the attacks. During the tutorial I was quickly reminded of batman games of how you hit square to counter and what not but I was mistaken once I got into real combat. Its different. New. You have to hold square, time circle perfectly to get a better attack, the links with your friends are well rewarded with great damage. This game rewards you by using its mechanics and not just going hack-slash. Which I will admit was me during my first couple monster hunts. Playing strategic using your ability to shoot over to a high standing cliff or wherever is much needed and very useful in planning blindside attacks etc. All that being said I think the combat is stellar and very refreshing.

Open-World: 8/10 I would give this world a 10/10 quick if the driving was a lot more involved. You are stuck to the road, and can't drive very fast. This to me is the biggest downfall to the open world. You are forced to run or chip out cash to get a chocobo. (which if you do, is a very fun experience. I love chocobos one of my favorite things about FF) But we have upgrades available for the car, and its just a shame it has to be stuck on the road. But the world is beautiful. There are treasures, and dungeons that can be found throughout the world and all together the world seems very involved. Crouching and staying hidden does come in handy because most of the creatures seem to notice you very quickly if you are just running.

Monsters/Creatures/Bosses: 10/10 The bosses make this game. The fights are intense, and really require your attention to every detail from your MP to your friends health etc. The design is amazing, and so detailed. Every species is unique even the ones who are similar to one another. Fighting styles are different, It definitely feels as though they created ever species separately from the ground up and didn't just remap another skin on top of an already existing move set. Fighting against different species is even better. Fighting 10 enemies out of 3 different species is a challenge. and requires you to analyze and understand each of their abilities and how to avoid them/get the better of them.

Gear/Leveling: 9/10 I actually like the new pace of leveling. You gain experience like normal, but you have to rest in order to actually use the exp to level up. This is a very new way of making the player use what is available to them. A lot of times players get comfortable and say ima just do it my way, but this game forces you (to an extent) to do it their way. This enables you to get the whole story, and even comes to your benefit with food, exp boosts, etc. It definitely rewards you for doing the "extra" stuff some people would find useless. The gear and leveling is easy to understand. The only thing negative I have would be that you can sell what you have equipped, so be careful. Using your AP points can be confusing at first but don't be overwhelmed with your options, you get plenty of AP and will be able to get everything you want out of it.

Overall: 9/10 Overall this game is refreshing. The story is great and the character designs draw me in. There are old nostalgia moments from past FF games, and new memories that will have you thinking of this game forever. I definitely recommending watching the Brotherhood Anime, then the Kingsglaive movie, then playing the game. If you haven't the games story might seem a bit narrow so to speak. But with the movie and anime involved the story is one to be remembered. Again this is a review based off early gameplay, and I will be giving another once I complete the story and get to know the End-Game content.

P.S. Ignore the bad reviews. This game deserves nothing lower than a 7 and thats iffy. Most bad reviews are from old fans of the series like me but that don't wanna accept the change. This is a FF game, but for todays time. It feels more and more like FF the longer I play.

Also, understand and experiment with the combat. Do the basic tutorials provided by the game and watch some tutorial videos on Youtube. This is Final Fantasy for the modern era. No longer are you bound by an archaic menu battle system. Fighting is similar to the Kingdom Hearts series in attacking and dodging in real time. The world is immediately open for you to explore as soon as you start the game. While the story is on the short side, it has an abundant amount of dungeons to explore and side quests to do.

Although the main story has some problems, I believe SE will finish the story via update patches. Apart from the main story, the game system, mini-games and mazes are extremely interesting! I've played more than 110 hours on this game.

FF XV is an open world game (With linear gameplay at story telling) feels to me like Witcher 3 combined with Dragon Age Inquisition and fighting style of Devil May Cry however with the Final Fantasy atmosphere.
This game contains FF features such as Chocobos, Summons, Gear and items, upgrade system and consists linear quests for story telling.
The fighting system is very good once you get to know it with great party combos.
Road trip driving with your car anywhere you want, listening to all previous FF soundtracks while driving ;)
Each one of the characters has some role in the game which defines their personalities (except for Noctis which is just fishing).
For me XV is fourth in the FF series right after VII, VIII and X.

Final Fantasy XV plays out in an action based combat, but unlike games like Devil May Cry, God of War and etc. the game goes for a more realistic way of combat, which means your attacks feels heavy and sometimes stagger you so you can't just dodge mid-attack, something I personally like. There are a decent amount of weapons, outside the normal weapons, called Royal Arms, that have their own unique way of attacking, 13 in total, then there are Short Swords, Lances, Daggers, Great Swords, Guns, Mechanics, Shields and Magic, Notcis, the main protoganist, and the one YOU control, can use EVERY weapon. All of your party members can use magic, but Ignis can also use Daggers and Lances, Gladio can use Great Swords and Shields, while Prompto can use Gun and Mechanics.
The story is that Noctis needs to marry Lunefreya, but on his way to picking her up, he finds trouble, it's your job to fix it.
The story is decent, at best, but the post game content and side content in general really shines through, and it's the games strong point. Also with the graphics, you drive through a beautiful world, filled with many secrets to uncover. Are you ready to step into the world of Eos, and take back your throne?

FFXV is a beautiful, expansive game with a lot of heart and easy to understand lore. The characters are deeply woven into the narrative, but it appears that they did a lot of people pleasing for the video game. They tried to give the Western audience the open world and the JRPG audience the narrative, which does not work for any JRPG title. I enjoyed running around the world, but I would have greatly preferred more depth to the other characters that were story driven and were not for DLC. To get the entirity of FFXV, you must watch the anime, the movie and play the game and DLC. For someone like me? A game like this can steal my heart, which is does down to its core but some people might not bother investing such time.

The battle system seems a little chaotic, I would have preferred a hybrid between FFXV and FFXIII where the characters don't need to be babied by you doing all the healing. I found the need for potions constantly to be really frustrating. There should have been a dedicated healer/magic character, but given the lore of the world it would have been Lunafreya, but they rob you of her in middle game.

I love the story, the gameplay and the adventure FFXV had to offer. It would have been a perfect score for me had their been a bit more development instead of open world shenanigans.

Great game. I expected something much worse after the last final fantasy games... but this is a new starting. The gameplay is awesome though the camera sometimes is a mess. The story is short but good. The openworld makes it much better than the fix corridors in the last final fantasy games. Cool game, should be a must in this generation.

In an era where reviews, endings, bugs, stories, and secrets can be uploaded and easily accessible within hours after a game's release, we need to carefully sort what we see online before we play the game. I prefer not to start the game with any prejudice.

If you don't like it then its not the game for you, If you do then it is for you.

I personally tried it without looking at any review or spoilers whatsoever and I like it a lot.

It's really really fun. The world is beautiful. The characters believable yet still true to final fantasy. It's a definite 10 until the last few chapters made it a 9. The story isn't as deep as I expected. Plot holes everywhere. But still fun and really enjoyable. The first PS4 game I'm gonna complete the trophy list.

As of now, my conclusion is that Final Fantasy XV is a fantastic addition to any RPG fan's collection. I give this game an 8.6/10, so obviously, I definitely found a number of faults in the game as well; but overall, it's a fantastic Final Fantasy adventure set in a beautiful Final Fantasy world that I'm going to enjoy spending another dozen or more hours exploring.

    The Good:
-The characters have fantastic chemistry, and listening to the side banter as you undertake quests or move from quest location to quest location was great. Doing side quests also nets you some additional dialogue scenes that sometimes gives you even more insight into your entourage's personalities, and I felt like the "bond" I forged with my team was really from all the side questing I did.
-The battle system. There are some negative aspects to it too that I'll list later, but overall, it was entertaining enough, and gets fairly challenging for some of the side quests or random overtuned bosses you find as you explore the map. Main story battles are never "that hard" really. But I don't ever think I've ever encountered a truly "difficult" storyline battle in any other FF either (between I to XIII-2), so that's fine.
-The "open world"-ness of this game was perfect, in my opinion. The last thing I wanted was a Witcher/Falllout/ES clone with a Final Fantasy facelift, and I think XV handled the balance perfectly. Sure, there aren't AS MANY things to do in this world as you would find in, say, Skyrim or Oblivion, nor do the side missions have the same amount of depth as in Witcher 3. But what I really wanted out of this game as a franchise with JRPG roots was really one main storyline, and then supplemental quests on the side to help fill out the experience with more fun things to do that don't have to become entirely new storylines on their own, unlike how the several branching/diverging side storylines are for the side quests in Bethesda titles. So something reminiscent of hunts in FFXII, or catching monsters in FFX for the arena, or finding random things on the map like Chocographs. And that *flavor* of side quest is exactly what we got here for the most part.
-The story; overall, I liked it. It gave a good sense of grandeur that didn't seem overblown or overly cliche. Again, some negatives here that I'll expound upon below, but I honestly don't understand how some folks are saying they didn't "get it" without Kingsglaive or Brotherhood. I haven't seen either, and I feel like I 100% understand the story, and was 100% happy with how the game resolved the primary issue.
    -The graphics are AMAZING
    -The soundtrack is AMAZING

    The Bad:
-The battle system seemed disorganized at times. Like many have said, for simpler fights, it does deteriorate into button mashing (for some of the side quest fights, there does seem to be more structure though; opponents telegraphing moves for you to avoid, telegraphing openings to get a good combo in etc). But I was hoping they'd take some inspiration from the Kingdom Hearts series in designing the battle system, which they didn't really. Also, I rarely ever found myself using magic in the 36 hours I've played so far, which was a little disappointing.
-Like I said above, the story was good, content-wise. But it DID feel quite rushed in the last 5 chapters or so. All of a sudden, the game decides to hit you with 2-3 big plot points with extremely brief dialogue scenes, that make sense, but you just don't have time to take it all in and appreciate what just happened because it all happened so quickly. I think this problem would have been resolved had the game been designed to have maybe 10-15 more hours of storyline, as opposed to the ~20 hours of story it actually has.
-The cast: the characters we got, like I said above, were great together. But I really miss the old FF style of having a larger cast of characters that you slowly meet throughout your adventure, and I was extremely disappointed that they went with such a small cast.
-Minor possible issue: a large chunk of the side quests are "hunt" based. For some gamers, this may feel "grindy" or repetitive, which is understandable. I myself enjoyed the hunts though, as I like feeling like I'm getting sent out to kill huge things in the wilds. I haven't finished them all though, but already I've seen a few throwbacks to old FF's, which was great

So overall, I thought this game was absolutely a joy to play so far, and has a new "feel" to it that isn't quite "like the old school FF's", but rather a feel that can be described as being "uniquely Final Fantasy XV". My favorite part of this game has got to be immersing myself on the "road trip" with the main characters, and getting to know them throughout the story and side q's. I am absolutely looking forward to what kind of new experiences Square Enix brings out in the future!

After some rocky development years, Final Fantasy is finally back. I've been a huge Final Fantasy fan since I was 10, and it is my pleasure to say that this game truly has everything a Final Fantasy should have. We should go part by part.

    Gameplay
FFXV is no longer turn-based. Bummer. But, Square Enix has experience with ARPGs, and this game's combat system is amazing. You'll soon learn enemy's weakness to certain weapon types and magical elements. AI is great, your allies will always know what to do and when to do it.
    Exploration divides into three sections.
Walking around the great fields is interesting, but can be tedious, and walking in towns is rather fun, but slow.
You can divide the car in two opinions. If you let Ignis drive, the Regalia can be a fun and chilling experience, as you just lay down a while and take a view at the amazing landscapes, while listening to your favorite FF classics! BUT. If you decide to drive, Oh boy! Driving is tedious and it takes you by the hand. It's not fun.
And then there are the chocobos. They are the best! You can easily get to your destinations in the wild. And they help you out in battle too!
The progression system reminds me a bit of FFX. You progress in diferent astral maps, dedicated to certain aspects of the game, like combat, abilities, exploration, magic, etc. You progress trough this buying skills with AP, which is kinda hard to get.
Magic works kinda weird. You prepare spells mixing energy from the three main elements and an item. At the beginning it is hard, but you will learn quickly.
    Soundtrack
The soundtrack is perfect. Besides being able to buy classic FF soundtracks, the soundtrack is huge.
When battling, you'll feel energized. Boss battles and hunt battles don't share themes, so every battle theme is way diferent.
While exploring, the songs will remind you of Terra's theme and sorts.

    Graphics
This... is not that good. Characters look nice, and landscapes near to you look okay. But at the distance, it just looks... wrong. Hell, FFXIII looked even better.

    Story
I left this at the end because this is where the biggest problem is.
The main characters are awesome. It's not just a prince and his bodyguards, it's a prince and his friends.
Supportive characters feel underused, as they appear, say "see ya" and never come back.
The worst is Luna. She is interesting and all, but she has little to no screen-time.
The main villain is actually pretty interesting.
The story is cool and well written, but it all falls down at Chapter 10, and Chapter 13 is a true mess...
Suddenly, things start happening off screen, main characters suddenly disappear, and it just feels wrong.
At the end, it all comes together in an interesting way, so it's not disappointing.

Overall, Final Fantasy XV is a great experience, with just minor problems here and there. You'll get at the very least 30 good hours of gameplay. And I'm so excited for the DLCs, I already got the Season Pass.

(btw you also have to fill up gas and repair the car sometimes(I love that immersion))The fighting mechanics are very fun and for a newcomer to the Final Fantasy series this is the perfect game. The quests are also very fun. All although a good number of them are fetch quest I personally enjoy them. The music is fantastic is does hit the heart with emotion and heroism when you're in the middle of a battle The graphics are glorious as also the atmosphere. Boss battle are intense as hell. The dialogue between the characters are realistic and gives you that bond between them. You can go from talking about each other's experiences during car rides or asking noctis about certain things to talking about problems on top of a motel ceiling. The experience you’ll have in this game are memorable and the relationship between the characters are on point. You truly feel that “bromance” when you're playing this game. The only problem I have with the game is that the driving mechanic is a little linear. You can’t go off road or really crash into anything but I understand because it wouldn’t make sense in the game if you were able to do that. After chapter 8, the game gets more linear so it can prep the player up for the ending. People are expecting the perfect game because it was announced in 2006 but in reality it wasn’t in development for 10 years lol. I really enjoy the new combat style from turn based to live action. People perceive it as a hack-n-slash but its not becuase it you do try to hack and slash you just get your butt whooped lol. The combos and team attacks just make the combat more enthusiastic. Final Fantasy XV is for sure a masterpiece that people will enjoy. Don’t listen to the people who gave it a bad rating because they are just rating it on nostalgia. LISTEN TO ME. This game is far better then Final Fantasy XIII. It may not be the perfect game but I believe that Final Fantasy XV played its part to move the franchise in the right direction.

I personally believe its a good game. Its the only FF game that has interested me since X.

The battle system has its kinks but what battle system doesn't. I personally hated FFXIII's battle system with a passion and was hoping for something like the battle system the game has but keeping with the old stuff. I personally love warping around. It takes alittle getting used to at first but

I personally hated FFXIII's battle system with a passion and was hoping for something like the battle system the game has but keeping with the old stuff. I personally love warping around. It takes alittle getting used to at first but once you get it you'll enjoy it. I like it way better than FFXIII's battle system. It's not frustrating and its very fluid to me and that's what I enjoy. I don't like the magic system but I never have been much for magic in RPG's at all. It really takes skill to use that one correctly. The only one I use magic in is Dark Souls

The graphics are amazing as per a 2016 game. It should look great and be a beaut to view. Don't got much more to say than that.

You need to watch Kingsglaive and Brotherhood if you want to have a full understanding of the preplot to the game or just go look up what happens. One or the other. The story telling isn't bad at all. Its intense at times as it should be. I love Noctis because he reminds me alot of myself. I won't reveal many spoilers but I think its a good story.

The open world is good but it doesn't go to its full potential. However, for the westernized JRPG that keeps with its old roots, I think it was done very well. It doesnt compare to some of the triple A titles who have been working on Westernized Open World RPG's for years like Bethesda and others have.

However, this should be obvious since they are trying to blend the two together. We have to remember that this is 2016 for the old FF folk that are annoyed. This is a generation of open world and very sandboxy games. I didn't mind the fetch quests. I've played Maple Story for almost 11 years and I'm used to it. If you are annoyed by fetch quests you'll be annoyed! I personally do not like the "stumble upon secondary quests" attitude. I can deal with it if it was the prominent use of secondary quests in this game. Yes there is alot of time spent in the car, that's what you have fast travel for. Be thankful, they could've made you walk the entire game.

Finally, do not go into this game expecting a savior. Final Fantasy 15 is not a savior. It is the foundation of something they really can build off of. We all know the JRPG's are struggling and the reality is they need to blend JRPG's and Westernized stuff together or they will continue to struggle. Some people may think this is an insane comment. I do not believe it is. I believe that if they polish up alot of the stuff in this game they truly could revive the series. Likewise, do not come in overhyping it or you will be disappointed. I was skeptical of the game when I first played it but once I settled in I personally enjoyed it. So go into the game and enjoy the game. Do not nit pick at everything you see because you'll find yourself rating it a 5 and say you wasted your money and whine like a baby. Its definitely a 7-8 game but because I love the series and am hopeful that this is the beginning of something good I gave it a higher rating. I'm glad I bought the game and its definitely been a fun time enjoying it and taking it slow.

I was sceptical of this game for that reason but, bar some jarring design choices toward the end (you're literally on rails?! Come on square) and a lack of supporting character progression/story being fleshed out on screen this game delivers in every respect. Graphics are a 10, battle system for once did not leave me pining for the turn based systems of old and the gameplay is super addictive. Despite some repetitive side quests I put 60 hours in and am sad to be putting it down! The story is fantastic if you're prepared to do some reading around.

Final Fantasy XV is a RPG made by Square Enix which has a lot of mixed reviews from love to hate. It has a very hit or miss type of combat and way of travel via car. Final Fantasy has always been a prominent figure in the RPG genre. Final Fantasy VII was a VERY popular game and has set an almost unbeatable standard for the entire franchise. The problem that people have with Final Fantasy XV is the fact it is not Final Fantasy VII which is a very unfair biased that people have The two don’t have very much in common besides the fact that they are called Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy XV is a beautiful game with real characters that you can relate to and feel emotionally attached to the characters. I would say this is my game of the year and many others agree but this has been a very you love it or you hate it type of game. The main cast of character are remarkably done and have a wonderful impact on the game.
Noctis, Prompto Gladiolus and Ignis are the main group of characters you will be following on your adventure. The main objective of the game is to meet up with Noctis’s “wide to be” Lunafreya. The whole idea of the marriage is political and is meant to stop the war between Lucis and Niflheim. This however was a trap set by Niflheim to take over lucis. Noctis the prince of Lucis finds out about this attack on Lucis once he had left to go to Niflheim. The entire adventure after he finds out about the attack on his kingdom is to get revenge on Niflheim and find Lunafreya.
They executed weird ideas amazingly, but it did have some problems. There were small thing that annoyed me such as loading times. It takes about a minute for something to load to completion which gets annoying at times however loading times are very rare to come by so you won’t deal with them that much but it is still annoying. I also had some graphical glitches that happened to me but my friend who played the game never experienced any glitches. Some side characters which could have had the potential to impact the story greatly and the player were not given enough screen time and we couldn’t learn about their character.
The game was rushed and understandably why but it does have some lack of content that should have been added into the game. Most people have a very simple idea about game design and development . The longer it takes to make a game the better it will be, this statement is usually accurate until a certain point. The process of developing this game took 10 years, which was not intentional. When this game was first announced during E3 2006 it was called Final Fantasy Versus XIII. The idea of Final Fantasy Versus XIII was soon dropped and the leading developer left the people who were developing the game after 6 years of development. Final Fantasy XV then went into a state of limbo where the developers were trying to decide what to do with the game. Soon it became known as Final Fantasy XV and was back into the development stage. Square Enix kept the story idea and did some minor tweaks to the characters. Demand from the fans of the game was too large and the game was rushed and incomplete. The developers of Final Fantasy XV say they will be adding things to the story to make it better and have an entire rework on a chapter in the game that nobody really enjoyed. I would rate this game a 9/10. You should buy it especially when the game has been polished.

The combat is simple but enjoyable. By the end of the game I was very attached to these boys. More so than I usually get in other Final Fantasy games. Rather than long periods of silence they will make comments throughout on various subjects which makes it feel like you're really on a journey with a group of friends. Its something I hope they include in their next games. Before I forget: make use of the photography functions. It plays a clever role in the end.

Now for the problems. The story kind of feels as if they were rushed. I very much recommend watching the movie and the anime before playing this. It's not ideal but if you skip them you're not getting the full detailed picture in regards to certain plot elements and character backstories. Another issue is the lack of screen-time for the main love interest and heroine Luna. It made it difficult to care about her. While the game excelled in the brotherhood theme not so much for the romance. I didn't expect it to overshadow the friendship aspect but just a bit more of her would have gone a long way to making certain scenes more meaningful.

That about covers it for me. Ultimately I was satisfied with the game and it left me wanting to see more of these characters so I look forward to the character episodes dlc.

This game is about brotherhood and the bond between friends. It has an open world, which is fun to explore, but also many linear moments due to the story, especially in the second half of the game.

The battle system is really fun and easy to control. Noctis’ Warp Strike ability is super cool! In certain areas (like small caves) some objects can block the camera which is a bit frustrating at times. The variety of activities and sheer amount of side quests is incredible. Most of this is entirely optional, so you can enjoy the activities you like and ignore those that doesn't matter to you. Side quests also provide an extra challenge. The game has also some of the best dungeons in the whole series. After a while they might get repetitive and monotone.

The story is intriguing - there are some scenes that surely touched me and gave me a bittersweet feeling - but fails in the way it is told, because too many scenes shown in trailers were cut or rushed. My only real issue was this lack of cutscenes to explain what happened with some characters after chapter 9.

The road trip feels organic due to the camaraderie of the main cast. The four guys are so likable and each one of them has their own very well written character. While spending over 60 hours with Noctis, Gladio, Ignis and Prompto I easily got attached to them and their attitudes. Noctis quickly became one of my favorite characters in the whole Final Fantasy series.

Driving the car is enjoyable; you can listen to old FF soundtracks while driving. The soundtrack is unique and has a high recognition value.

Final Fantasy XV was the most addictive game I've played in a long time - exceeding my expectations, but at the same time it feels like the game could have been even bigger! Still I find myself smiling while looking over Prompto's photos at camp each night and wouldn't mind re-visiting Eos again. As a long-time fan of the series I can say that this entry falls into my top 3.

    + Beautiful world design
    + Enjoyable road trip
    + Touching and realistic characters
    + Amazing graphics
    + Awesome soundtrack
    + Epic summons
+ Taking pictures with Prompto’s camera
+ Fishing (who thought that this could make so much fun?)
    - The camera can be blocked in smaller areas
    - Some side quests are repetitive and poorly written
    - Lack of cutscenes
    - Trolls trying to down vote this user score

Please note that there are haters and the so called "Real Final Fantasy (7) Fan(boy)s" who try to vote down this user score and rating the game poorly, because they are not ready for innovation. Don't let them ruin this game for you and play it for yourself, to make your own opinion :)

Nonetheless, I really don´t think it is a game every one would enjoy, but if you do like the genre you will have a blast playing it

The game is fantastic. It's not perfect in every way, but it's amazing. The action-y combat feels great and plays great, but there are two problems with it. First is that you have to use wait mode to ind out a monster's weaknesses, and the second is that magic friendly fires for some stupid reason.

The dungeons are some of the best in the series. The music is some of the best since 7

The music is some of the best since 7 imo.
The fishing mini-game somehow manages to be fun.
    The graphics are great.
The environments are a little on the empty side, but that's because quests (main, side, and beast hunts) add monsters to areas, so if you have accepted a bunch of quests at once you'll find that the areas are a lot more full than if your not doing anything
BTW you'll never want for something to do in this game, there is a ridiculous amount of side quests and activities, and dungeons, including endgame dungeons after the credits.

The main thing keeping it from a 10 is the story, or rather what's missing from the story. You can pretty obviously see where they intend the DLC to go. Also, a lot of characters that should get development don't get any whatsoever, especially on the villains' side.

This doesn't mean the story is bad, overall it's still pretty great and hits all the points it needs to, and the ending is one of the best endings in FF.

    Overall, definitely worth playing.

BTW. there are adding a lot of free updates to improve upon the story's weaknesses. For example, they added a few scenes from Kingslglaive in near the beginning of the game.

On that note, no you do not need to watch anything else to get what's going on or to appreciate the story. It does help you get invested though and the movie and shorts are decent (but not great).

Also, yes ch. 13 is terrible. 13 seems to be FF's unlucky number

Don't let that stop you though FF15 is still one of the best games in the series.

Sorry for that tangent
Ok finally we are at the positives first I really all the hunts those should get really intense and some could always have some scripted climatic moments the open world also always felt so big and wide it always felt like there was something but it always felt real it always feel like some place you can just go with it felt like there was history everywhere. Also some people complain that you need to watch a movie and a anime to understand the plot but no you totally don’t need to watch that **** I didn’t need watch some anime to understand this game hey the game is this thing called subtilty were they tell you the same stuff but they don’t go out to tell you, you have to not be a dumb ass to understand it So you remember when I rambled all about the game play well I lied because I don’t know how but they just made it work the bosses are so cool and each enemy fells challenging enough to make you think on which weapon to use and yeah I said that the block was not reliable but in my opinion it makes feel that much better when you finally get the block and perry it feels so good. And now the best thing about the Final Fantasy 15 was the characters each character bonches off of each other so much Ignis is always the straight thinker who takes care of everyone prompto is the descent comic relief who has a actually good and unexpected backstory and Gladio is the straight thinker who always tells Notis when he is being a dumbass which happens a lot. And I can’t even get into any of the other characters without getting into spoilers so please go play this amazing game for yourself

FFXV gives you a big world to explore, a quick and fun combat system that can be adapted to easily, great graphics, decent story, Amazing instalment in the Final Fantasy series.

But overall its a fantastic game ! Expand

I am truly enjoying this game. Clear departure from older games in the series, but very fun. The main negatives for me are 1) On XBox One platform I have experienced multiple game freezes and other glitches such as not being able to exit combat 2) Creating and using spells is a hassle. Have to switch to magic and then aim where you want it to go. Can't really target enemies easily (or at least that I have been able to figure out) 3) Really explains combat as you go, but doesn't explain elemancy well. Such as using coins to create experience spells. Much of that is hard to figure out 4) Fishing game is great, but doesn't explain lures or how to figure out what fish are in a spot. 5) I find it annoying that items keep popping up again on the map. Would have preferred to just find and move on with more items to find out there. Tough for completion-ists like myself to make sure we found everything. 6) Stopping the damned car. When you want to stop and get out the car it doesn't pull over and parks sooooooo far past where you wanted to. Annoying 7) Repeated attacks from above by the Imperials, even when your already in a quest hunt. Gets tiring fighting them over and over again. But I guess it's nowhere as tedious as the original games where you would randomly have to fight monsters.

That being said, I love the comradery between the 4 lead characters. The conversations seem genuine. Even if a little corny at times. Like why is Cindy in a bikini and constantly washing your windshield??? I mean, it's awesome, but really??? Graphics and map are awesome. I really like the story so far, and especially Noctis' and Prompto's characters. Although I seem to get tired of completing quests, I find myself enjoying 2-3 hour sessions before I get bored. Much like Resident Evil 7, I think the franchise was seriously in need of a reboot and they got most things right in my book.

It's complicated to review a game that was teased more like an event or an experience, I fell in Square Enix's trap and I eat all the media that came before the game: movie and anime episodes, so my time with the game was pretty positive in regards of lore and story. With that in mind, my review goes as follows:

It's complicated to review a game that was teased more like an event or an experience, I fell in Square Enix's trap and I eat all the media that came before the game: movie and anime episodes, so my time with the game was pretty positive in regards of lore and story. With that in mind, my review goes as follows:

First things first, the mood of the game it's perfect, it starts as a best friends road trip and that feeling of adventure and friendship never gets old, the sound team made an amazing job making every sound feel almost real, things like footsteps, rain, forests at night, even the sounds of the Regalia (your car) when closing or open its door, it may sound dumb but the immersion and the feeling of traveling with friends through the sound design it's outstanding, it also makes the Regalia like a 5th companion to your adventure. Which leds us to another great topic, your party, the developers took the great decision of making a small party that always accompanies you, they feel real and their dialogues are so detailed and at times silly that only helps to build a real bond with them, there's no need to watch the anime episodes about them but it sure helps to stablish and understand some things related to their personality or bond with Noctis, speaking of Noctis, at first I taught that I was going to hate this guy because of his "generic character and design" but the truth is that I really like it, I understood his feelings and decisions, also I firmly believe that is necessary to play this game with japanese audio, I'm not a big fan of the english dub, its not bad but not great, also is pretty noticeable that they took a lot of liberties with Noctis, they feel like complete different persons, where the Japanese is kind of introvert, sweetheart and silly, the English one sounds more stoic, "cool" and it kinda tries to be Cloud, so at least for me, that it's a big no, no. As for the supporting cast, there are some cool characters like Aranea or Lunafreya, they're good but not as good as our main villain, I won't spoil anything but as for me, at least he is now a top tier antagonist on Final Fantasy franchise.

I really liked how Square Enix dished out unnecessary complex and convoluted stories like the one presented in the first installment of FFXIII, instead, we have a simple "reclaim your throne" kind of story that works for the best, I really liked a lot of the twists and turns, I have no issue with that, but its worth note that there are major events hinted through the game that are just hinted but really important to the overall plot, mainly things in the movie and stuff that happens in the Episode DLCs, its not that they felt so necessary to the plot but they sure feel like holes, speaking of holes, the game has a nice rhythm and passing until you arrive at a point of no return (at 3/4 of the game more or less), it feels rushed and suffers a lot of breaking the immersion.

As for the gameplay, I have mixed feelings about it, first, is very simple and enjoyable, at times almost addicting, its simplicity compensates with its flashiness and fast passing action, my only problem is that the HP system it's broken, you can kill almost everything if you have enough potions so in order to enjoy it you must put a rule of limited potions, but then again that's a thing that was meant to be solved by the designers, not you. Another negative aspect is the side questing, the world map is massive and so beautiful, it's accompanied by a masterfully crafted soundtrack led by no other than Yoko Shimomura (which make instant classic songs for this already filled with classics franchise), but it kind of feels empty at times, the only thing that makes you do any quests is for the combat, which maybe is no the cup of tea for everyone but it's very fun.

In the end, the negative aspects didn't were overweighted by the positive ones, its characters felt to me like real friends and its twists and turns were for the most part very interesting and enjoyable, as for the ending, it has a heavy punch that reminded me why I prefer storytelling in videogames over other media.

I really love this game, but it's clear it has some flaws. The story is good but they really rushed everything on the second half, plus, DLCs covering plot holes are a cheap strategy to get our money. The open world is stunning and worth the exploration, but the side quests are kind of repetitive.

However, even with all it's flaws, I keep coming back to this game from time to time. The game shines on the small things, mainly the dynamic between the main character and his friends. You really care about these guys, even more than some other characters that the game begs you to care. Exploring the world, driving on scenic roads with your buddies, camping, enjoying the photos taken after a day battling all kinds of creatures, funny idle chats... All these little things add a lot on the experience. The battle system is awesome too, very dynamic and intuitive, you never get tired of it. The creatures you face only make everything better.

This game is awesome and after all the updates, it's finally at the best form. I don't understand all the hate this game gets but for me, FFXV is among the best games of this generation.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Love, love, love this game! Is it perfect, no. Is it awesome, oh yeah! Love the battles and all of the quests. My only complaints, not enough cut scenes and you do not get to choose who you summon. Other than that, I'll play for a long time. Hopefully there'll be more DLC...crossing my fingers. Would love to see Noctis, Iggy, Gladio, Promto & Luna again, yet I doubt there will be a FF Afterlife edition. Again, love this game! Expand

After so many years of development, Final Fantasy XV is not what I expected it to be. The universe is immense and beautiful and the characters are just fine. But the story is short and disappointing and the gameplay suffers from lack of depth. FFXV is a good game, but it can never bring the former glories back to the series.

Even as you reflect on the rarity of a blockbuster that's willing to take real risks, you'll be left with the uncomfortable realisation that ten years wasn't quite long enough, after all. Those jagged edges are, in the end, just a little too sharp. [Feb 2017, p.110]

Despite a divided feel, torn between what it was and what it plans to be, Final Fantasy XV has a lot to offer. If you're a diehard JRPG fan, then it's a positive sign that the series can cross over to a new format. And if you're just looking for an open world adventure, Final Fantasy XV certainly has that in spades, while doing just enough things differently to separate it from the likes of Dragon Age and Elder Scrolls.
