The critics are right, this game is very awesome. What I liked in FFXV is that game is very simple. Not casual but simple in every way. The battle system is very good, and like in all FF game, you will have easy enemies that just need to push some button, but the game also have the hard ones and impossible dungeons to defy you in every way. Play it now.

This game has everything to offer for the RPG-lover.
For me this is exactly what I wanted, 10 hours in the game and it feels great to me, the landscape is beautiful and the fights are fast.
This game is great, not perfect. But I've fallen in love with this world.

    PROS:
+ Fenomenal visual effects (I mean magic effects, particles, warps, etc)
    + Great in-game CGI's
    + Unexpected plot twists
    + Beautiful world
+ Combat system (this one is really sick)
    + Memorable characters
+ This game will overwhelm you with emotions.
+ Sectets. This game is full of secret dungeons and cool items, which you can't find if you will not explore the world
    + Very cool bossfights
    + AMAZING soundtracks
    + Interesting weapons
    + Great skill tree system
    (+ Chocobos)

    CONS:
    - Nasty bugs: visual bugs with water, shadows: sometimes combat bugs are happening, for example when weapon literally slides monster's face and u are missing (misses are not a game mechanic in this game)
    - This game doesn't looks like it was in development for 10 years (but the game still great)
    - Side quests are pretty boring (as for me)
    - Surviving in combat is all about healing potions if you're not doing side quests a lot
    - TOO MUCH HEALING POTIONS, really, EVERY hard fight will require 5+ healing potions with a not bad perfomance
    - Exploring the world is kinda boring (as for me).
    - Bossfights are looking strange sometimes due to some combat bugs (but they still looks great)
    - Noctis is too naive sometimes
    - Ridiculous auto-save system (u may fight a boss/clear a dungeon for 30-40 minutes, and when you'll die, you'll have to do it again (sometimes you will need to ride there again))
    - Bosses are sometimes easier then ordinary monsters. This looks kinda weird: chosen one Noctis can fight powerful level 40 big badass dragon, but he can't fight usual level 35 little demon, which is not a boss at all

    SEMI-CONS/PROS:
+- This game is in fact "divided" in two parts:
    1) First part of the game is all about killing monsters and farming money, resourses, leveling (feels like you're playing in single-player typical MMORPG with a really badass combat system).
    2) Second part of the game (when you will complete game in a ~70%) this game transforms from "singleplayer MMORPG" to RPG game with a great overall plot and gameplay.

In conclusion I have to say the only one thing: despite the fact that this game has such a cons, this game still 100% worth your money. FFXV will make you happy, sad, sometimes angry, sometimes it will be "jaws dropping", but overall impressions after you complete the game will be more than good.
Even after such a bugs and cons I can boldly give a 10 rating for this game just because of pros.

WARNING: Before playing the game you're really MUST SEE "Final Fantasy: Kingsglaive" (a 2-hour CGI movie about plot's beginning), and it will be really good if you will watch anime called "Final Fantasy: Brotherhood", which explains every character's childhood.

FINAL FANTASY XV is a game that has everything to make you happy. It has a open world, but also, has many linear moments due to story, and the story is VERY good at all. Escaping the flames of war, Noctis epic journey with his best friends is very real and deep. The battle system is so good and the game has the best dungeons in all FF series. I loved Princess Luna, she is so cute and strong.

For the game in general its true there are some gliches and bugs and perhaps there are some strange effects in animations (sometimes their hair seem quite shiny for example) but if you are going to make a big deal for these least reasons in specifict then you should have **** up many other games that have gliches that broked them or at the least made them annoying as **** (I was stuck in skyrim for hours since the ****ing dragons were spinning in a single point or never appeared). My last opinion would be that even though it has made many characteristics that were supposed to attract more new players to the franchise from occident iot still has a lot of appearance thata makes it look quite a lot like a japanese game even though a goal of this game was to attract non japanese players. To finish this if you read some negative reviews that peaople doesnt know anything between a 0 and a 10 since even though it may have many points that they didnt like and should be respected their opinions for that, it´s not a reaosn to **** down the score of game that bad since almost every single reviewer is their first and only one making me think they are just giving this game a bad reputation which hasnt been worth it yet even less since the upgrade of the animations, music, enviroment and chracter design since you could say its more realistic, heck even the clothes were purely desgined for the game since a fashion company was the one in charge of that aspect. Combat, graphics, history (this is a little confuse if you did not watch the movie before play), soundtrack, everything. Even the way you level up is perfect. In these 20 hours, I saw only one bug, Gladiolus turns invisible for a while and I just could see his sword but in fact, the game is so good that this bug made me laugh at the time.

DUNGEONS. Yes, this final fantasy has amazing dungeons to explore. One of the best parts of exploration.
The game also has side quests. Hunts, treasures, ingredients, weapon improvements, all kind of quest. I was not walking through the world doing nothing in these 20 hours in fact, I'm pretty busy right now!

So, fan of final fantasy or not, if you like RPG, buy it. I have to play more to have a definitive opinion although a game that made happy for 20 hours, knowing that it's just the beginning, already convinced me that it's worth it.

Please, take a few moments of your time to read this:

There is one thing you should take note of; I cannot and will not call this a review. I think burdening a game that is in the scale of Final Fantasy XV with a number is beyond my capabilities. That said, I simply scored it the maximum possible score, as I foremost desire for this review to be read. So, please, join me for a not so brief yet somewhat important talk.

Final Fantasy XV has two major flaws:

The first and less burdening flaw lies in its side quests. Many of them consist of simply fetching stuff with no background story at all of the world or the characters we are in. Thus, no drive to really explore these quests is really created, making most people who can't enjoy such a thing feel discontent from the game.
The second flaw is actually important and in the end, takes away a lot from Final Fantasy XV. We have here an amazing story, which I assume was written with love and thought. But it's.. simply put, badly executed. Missed cut scenes, cut content, way few explanations, fewer "meetings" in the story with important characters in the game, like King Regis, Luna, even the Emperor and most of all, a feeling of a work that didn't get enough time to be completed. Was it the development hell from which it had to be saved, or a lack of concern for storytelling? I don't really know. Even the material that came with the movie and the anime don't correct this bad side of the game. The story is just not handled right. What I need to clear though is that, while many people say or believe the story is bad, they are actually far from correct. The story is brilliant, the way that is presented though... Far from it.

And so, I get to the main point I wanted to talk with you. Why can't I review this game, or why can't I shake this feeling in my heart that it's a ten, despite its clear flaws? (Take in mind I have never played another FF game)

That is truly a simple thing. I immersed myself in this beautiful world and explored it -and still am- with all my being. It's truly a marvel how a world so alive can be created through a computer. You cannot help but enjoy traversing through this world, through its lakes, its dessert, its mountains, its towns, its many many dungeons. The vastness of it, its beauty, the amazing music, the fun of exploration, the different beasts that come with it are all simply connected by a trivial thing. The relationship of its core cast. Those four young characters, albeit a somewhat generic and mainstream J-BoyBand, are connected so deeply and their relationship is crafted so well that you can't escape from their "spell". All those side quest problems, or even the execution of the main story, are somewhat if not completely forgotten due to the simple relationship of four characters. As you enjoy traveling with them, eating with them, indulging in their hobbies, getting stronger, you'll see four splendidly crafted characters - and their in between relations - that keep you immersed in the world. And suddenly, all the aforementioned problems, although visible and still there.. are simply cast aside. So much that, by the end of the game, you are afraid to proceed to the last mission, simply because you don't want your journey to end. You don't want to say goodbye to these characters.

There is where Final Fantasy shines. That's the reason why I cannot simply give you a proper review. This game is a work of art and the next evolution of video games. Those of us who believe in the potential of video games as art cannot simply ignore this. And more importantly, those who didn't manage to escape from the "spell" are bound to fondly think of this world for some time to come.

Conclusion: Many people will not understand this game and won't go past its flaws. I agree that the way the story is handled is a massive blow to its concept, which is beautiful. That's the reason why it has received mixed reviews up till now. It's also the reason why its true aim that I mentioned before is somewhat "hidden". But, I at least hope that after reading this, even you people who have come to dislike the game would see it in a new light. It's a way forward in the Art of Video Games. And you should at least-as video gamers - recognize that.

With this being an open world game rushing through it will mean missing a large number story elements, which I can only assume some reviewers have done based on what they have written.
One of the most enjoyable elements of the game is the combat system, I look forward to every battle that I
    get into.
There are the odd annoying sections - the car is 'on rails' and you can't drive it where you want to - it is stuck to the roads. A highlight of the car from a Final Fantasy fans point of view is that you can play all the old music from past final fantasy games on it's radio!
And if you fast travel between locations you have visited the loading takes a while. However, on the loading side there is none at all if you don't fast travel, every area is open and accessible.

I'm around half way through the game at the moment and look forward to ending work every day so I can get lost in the world of Eos yet again. Can not recommend the game highly enough.

Great game. Even after beating it, i find myself being drawn back to it, for the post game stuff, or just to replay portions of it. The story may not be fleshed out in the game as much as some want, but that can be remedied with some reading, as well as watching the decent Kingsglaive movie.

I loved this game. This is the first Final Fantasy I have done a full playthrough of since Final Fantasy 10.
It is well worth your time,

Many , many, many, many of the CAMPS as well as the INNS trigger cutscenes.
If you sleep at these points,
Gladiolus, Ignis, and Prompto can give you SPECIAL tagalong quests that involve just YOU and THAT CHARACTER (two people)

Someone mentioned not being able to summon, your summons. Thats bull, again, you pull back from the enemies without hitting any other button and hold L2 for around 5 to 10 seconds without pushing any other buttons.

People say their is not enough equipment.
HAHAHAHAHAH is that a joke? Noctis himself has over 10 different (UNIQUE TO HIM) WEAPON equipments.
This is not counting the numerous mechanical items that you can find throughout the game,
or the numerous weapons that can be equipped by yourself and your party members. There is atleast 30 of each type of weapon . not including mechanical weapons and weapons unique to Noctis.

People say their is not enough accessories,
Yet you can even activate 2nd and 3rd slot accessories and by level 30 I had over 20 of them.

The gameplay is very fun. creating combos and using teamwork .

The story is awesome. Progresses very well with both the quests and side quests.

At no point in this game did i ever feel "bored" .

I am over 40 hours in, and i am nowhere near beating the game.

Many people seemed to have rushed this game for no reason.

    Lastly,

People are addressing camera angle issues during combat, especially.
This can be fixed from the settings menu in which you can choose how fast the camera follows you or how far away or what angle it is at.

Almost everything people have complained about on here is totally nonsensical.

It's not perfect, but then again, no story is. XV always kept suprising me to the very end. The characters are wonderful and i never got tired of them and the combat was way better then i expected. All of these things combined is what truly make XV such a hard game for me to rank. But one thing i can say is that XV is definitely the best entry of recent years, and if this is the future of Final Fantasy then i can't wait for the next one.

My pros and cons to the game.

+ Very good graphics and textures, especially on some monsters/bosses.
    + Very pretty environments
    + Amazing battle system
+ Nice way to implement magic inside battles, i never liked to play with mages, but using fire with combos is awesome.
+ A lot to do, quests, sidequest, a lot o places to explore and lore to acquire about the game
+ The combo history, Kingslave and brotherhood is a nice combination.
+ Fishing is cool and a nice passtime
+ Using chocobo is cool too, you can stop and battle anytime.

    Cons

    - The story needs a little more explanation, they are adding stuff with future patches, so it is great
    - The dlc selling is not fair, but this is the new era of gaming , every company does that.
    - Maybe a little more combos? and turn off AUTO ATTACK, it makes the game not being able to combo in a right way.
    - Add a hard difficult mode

I am a die hard-core FF fan. It's just the way of things. I was around 19 when i saw the first screenshots of Noctis...i am now a 30 year old little man...i don't need your symptathy though. I give it 10 stars because I, as an extremely ardent fan of the franchise, cannot help but love it for all that it is and all that it could have been, as it is with most things. it's a 10! But that does not mean that i do not feel let down, because i do. The story is disjointed and full of holes. many important characters are only given screentime for about 3 seconds...there is a severe lack of cutscenes and no amount of decent cinematography. Everything we ever saw in any of the trailers are false. what i mean by that is, nothing that we see in those clips ever appear in the game. so i was waiting for things to happen that i had seen, to no avail. that is very good marketing yes, but it is also false marketing. So i naturally feel let down. also, there are 4 summons. you cannot control when they appear, which is actually kind of cool, because it works, it makes every appearance all the more special, but there are only 4...you get another legendary summon which makes 5, but it only appears during an obligatory cutscene. summons have always been one of the greatest and breathtaking aspects of the series, and to see it reduced to almost nothing is sad. though i have to say, those few that do appear in the game, are beyond awesome. absolutely gorgeous! so all is probably good. i just wish they had spent less time making a huge CGI action film with AAA names attatched to it, 2 independent games for android, a 5 episode animation series and a bunch of other crap in order to tell more of the worlds story...damnit, tell the damn story in the god damn game! at the beginning of the announcements last year, when we learned that all of these meta things were incoming, i screamed like a little girl who had just touched a hot stove! But it was only later that i realized that they obviously had to take away from the actualy game in order to make all of this other crap. so no, i do not condone this kind of meta philosophy. they should have cut the movie, cut the two android games, justice monsters five and kings knight, and the anime series and all the other **** and just focus all of their attention on the only thing that actually mattered in the first place. the god. damned. GAME. YES, i do love it, but i do feel betrayed, to an extent. the game feels unfinished, not so much in terms of mechanics, but in terms of interesting quests and storytelling and involvement of character. i understand why they may have made some different choices, and i am all for that evolution of the series, but i am NOT for the sacrifice of time spent on making the actualy product in order to make a bunch of lesser products to accompany the main product. obviously that obstructs resources and time that should have been focused into the main game and only the game. but it is still breathtakingly beautifully made. the combat is super fun, the music is powerful and there are a lot of good things to experience. For me, not only was this game refreshing, but it was fun, and downright addictive. The graphics were amazing, as one might expect from a square enix game, and the characters truly are deep and interesting. I felt the 4 main characters really made this game awesome.

The story was good, though a bit confusing until you get all the facts towards the end of the game, but I had no problems following it. The ending really does bring it all together and provides a satisfactory conclusion (in my opinion).

As for the game play, I know it isn't turn based but I actually prefer this style because it makes things move quicker while still maintaining a level of strategy. For example, you can customize the battle by changing your friends' special moves, and you can scan enemies to find out what weapons and spells they are weakest to and priced accordingly. In short, I didn't think this was just a hack and slash with no depth.

Some of the side quests can be a bit repetitive, but I actually had a lot of fun doing them. Also, I guess in the way of criticism, some of the dungeons were a bit tedious, but they don't by any means break the game. If I could tell square enix to change one thing it would be to let us save in all the dungeons, because I cannot imagine my power going out in the middle of some of those and having to do them over again. Lol.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Not without its flaws... But ultimately the most fun, and emotional, Final Fantasy experience I have experienced... And the most fun I've had playing a game for years.

Myself and Final Fantasy have had a troubled relationship over the past decade. Ever since the PS1 era, I have felt they have never quite matched the quality I had known from the series. With FFX it was the awful voice acting (all I'll say is: HA-HA-HA). With FFXII it was the fact it didn't feel like Final Fantasy as much as Star Wars combined with Dungeons and Dragons (although being an amazing game with a brilliant cast in its own right). And Final Fantasy XIII felt like the ultimate minimal input, beautiful port of ProgressQuest... With convoluted, ultimately unrelatable story (but amazing mythos), forgettable stereotypes for characters and almost literally corridors with minimal exploration for 80% of the story.

So Final Fantasy XV landed with my patience pushed to the limits. Although XIII-2 and Lightning Returns were much better, they still lacked that feeling I had from the past. And I will start off saying this: If your heyday of Final Fantasy was back in the days of PS1, you will probably love this game as much as I did.

You are almost straight away plonked into the open world, which both encouraged and wowed me. The world of Eos (Final Fantasy XV's world) is a beautiful, beautiful place; For the first time it feels like they have been able to fully match the graphical quality of cut-scenes of FF8 and 9. Noctis and his retinue realise the huge difference between the modern Crown City and the 50s-style world we can actually explore. It reminds me of the disparity and rustic beauty of Cuba in comparison to the rest of the world.

So you travel through this beautiful world... A world you can get lost in (something missing from the series for a long time)... Sometimes pushing the story along, sometimes taking part in side quests... Broken up by camps each night, which act almost like the beating heart of the game; giving your characters the chance to level up and have one of Ignis' fabulous, status-boosting meals. They sometimes act as an opportunity to take part in optional side quests with one of your party (although sadly this happens less than the Episode Duscae demo made me think it would).

Things take a turn for the worst for our crew in the second half of the game, when tragedy hits nearly everyone. The game takes a much-criticised linear route from Chapter 9. A route which, personally, I absolutely loved. Even though you get the feeling it is (literally) a whistle-stop tour of the remaining assets they were able to complete for the game, it hits all the right narrative beats. You straight away feel the more sombre tone from the death of Luna and the loss of Ignis' sight, and our tour completes in the very Midgar-styled city of Gralea.

This is one of my favourite parts; Darin De Paul's brilliant portrayal of antagonist Ardyn makes up for probably the best villain of the entire series. He leads you condescendingly down the dark corridors and eventual horrors you learn in the city. "Bah, I knew you'd go that way" he says as you explore the room to your left instead of your goal in front of you. "You're such a tease".

Everything from the end of this chapter onwards is a beautifully directed feels train of reminiscence, nostalgia and regret, and almost a metaphor for a world 10 years on from the very first trailer for the then-titled Final Fantasy Versus XIII. I can personally say it made me very reflective. I remember having just left home and starting university when I first saw that trailer, thinking I knew everything about life. 10 years down the line, and the biggest lesson I've learned is I still barely know a thing about life... None of us do... We all just make it up as we go along.

Underscoring these moments is the beautiful soundtrack, and I wish to commend Yoko Shimomura on creating the best Final Fantasy score I have heard. It manages to evoke feelings of the old games without feeling like it is trying to copy Uematsu's style from them, something which I have felt the series has struggled with since his departure. There are around 6 main themes which run throughout the game, and these evolve for their respective characters/institutions as the game progresses. The best example of this is the epic Magna Insomnia; the final boss theme which also acts as a combination of Somnus and Ardyn's Theme. The chorus of Somnus teases throughout the song before being fully realised as you battle Ardyn above Insomnia's Citadel; and has a chilling choral conclusion as Ardyn finally shows his true rage in telling you "10 years is nothing... I have been in darkness for ages!".

The game isn't without its faults. But I have already spent 200+ hours on it... Every battle is a joy to play, feeling more interactive and fun than FFXIII.. Making it take much longer to complete quests than you would think. Worth every penny

Much in the way FFIX tried to pay tribute to its predecessors, this game is filled with nods to the storied series.

This game is about brotherhood, the bond between friends, and the duty to one's purpose. No different than a good book, keep the genre(brotherhood) of this game fresh in your mind as you play. Take every little nuance of the relationship between the main cast as you play, and I promise you the character will quickly rise as some of your favorites in the series. The only thing that remained constant in the 10 year development period was the relationship between the main cast, and oh my, the polish is there.

Other highlights of the game are top tier console graphics, an amazing soundtrack by yoko, and flashy combat. However, I have to acknowlege the shortcomings of the game: storytelling. The content is there, but too much was saved for DLC or rushed. I think after all content is released, the gaming community will look fondly on the completed story; however, I think as it stands right now the DLC model stomped on it.

I do not understand all of the hate towards this game. I can understand the wait but the continuous criticism of the gameplay sickens me. In other games, such as the Resident Evil franchise, there have been sporadic change in gameplay that revolutionized and gave life to the series. I feel that this gameplay change from turned based combat to real time combat is brilliant and outstanding.

When you have many other titles in development, lack of development thinking this would be apart of FFXIII as a side story and a rebranding, an engine change and next gen development would make a game sidetracked to 10 years in development. With that being said, was it worth the wait?

ABSOLUTELY! The game has its flaws, but it shows new LIFE in the Final Fantasy series, now we can turn away from the turned based combat and indeed move with other things and I would like to see more of this real time combat in the series. The REAL TIME COMBAT is what really got me interested in playing this title to completion. An adult version and Final Fantasy version of Kingdom Hearts is what I had thought about this game at first.

The storyline of the game is incredible until the end as I feel that the ending of the game could have used more build-up when Noctis awakened after his 10 year slumber. Moving forward with this, the FPS could have improved as well as there was some lag in the Frame Rate. I have seen that Final Fantasy XV's interface has a lack of design and which really knocks down my rating for this game. But as I have been playing it, the open world is beautiful and outstanding.

The activities in this game is endless and lasts a long time which really brings out the 10 years I have been waiting for. The main characters really bring out the definition of BROTHERHOOD. I love the communication and relationships with all of the main characters. I am also a fan of the supporting characters. Gameplay was extremely fun the story is gripping and heartbreaking straight at the end. This game I will definitely be playing again!

THE DLCs I will say there could have been improved but as we see the next few episodes, I can see longevity in this game and more room for REAL TIME GAMEPLAY in the Final Fantasy series.

In some ways I believe that the best games are those that give you at least one or two experiences that you can’t help but walk away from going wow that was amazing, and after finishing Final Fantasy XV I’ve had far more of those then I feel I can reflect on and as such I’ve come to the conclusion that I may very well be thinking about these moments for a very long time. If I were asked what gave me these feelings I would say it was the way the game gave me experiences that felt extremely unique to my journey that caused them to stand out. Some of these experiences are vastly different from each other, but each carries with them something that struck an emotion out of me that stuck with me from the beginning to the end.

To me franchises like Call of Duty and Pokemon are pulled by their fans kicking and screaming before they make any big changes, while Final Fantasy on the other hand is the exact opposite of this in that it is the one pulling it’s fans kicking and screaming into the future. I am of course talking about Final Fantasy XV action role playing gameplay(rpg) that has divided some fans, big gameplay changes to the franchise are not new though as seen in the opinions given on Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy XIII which are each different, but there’s a chunk of fans and journalists that wish to see Final Fantasy return to it’s turn based origins and they have very strong opinions on this matter. Because of that I have come to the opinion that people will either love this gameplay experience given by Final Fantasy XV or hate it, and if you want to know which camp you reside in your better off just watching some gameplay online or borrowing a copy to decide if it seems fun rather then read this review.

The story throughout the game goes at a pretty steadily consistent pace and stars protagonist Noctis who is a prince on a road trip with his closest friends where their final destination involves a marriage to an oracle/princess as a sign of peace between too warring nations. The story is probably the shortest main narrative in the franchise that I can think of especially when compared to the last three single player games. Outside the game there are two medias that introduce the plot going in to the game “Final Fantasy XV Brotherhood” and “Final Fantasy XV Kingsglaive” with the first being an short series of animated videos and the second being a CGI movie which is the prologue leading up to the events. I recommend both of them to better understand the plot of Final Fantasy XV if you’re looking to appreciate the main story more, and even though I enjoyed both of them I couldn’t help but wonder if they spent their whole CGI budget on both of them (especially “Kingsglaive”) leaving very little money for cut scenes. Despite all that keep in mind that I didn’t consider the plot bad. However, I would say the main story isn’t a big focus here, the focus resides on the small stories that you and your comrades share/create together in the open world. It’s here that the gameplay and the story merge as characters react to things around them giving insight on current affairs or quick reactions to immediate situations at hand. While Noctis holds the spot light there reside three characters that will accompany him for the bulk of his journey Gladio, Ignis, and Prompto. I found that each one brings something that enhances the party to make them feel more like real characters that I could come to depend on with their own interests and hobby’s as every event feels like a story in itself as the party reacts to each action that occurs both big and small. Beyond that the gameplay is action skilled based where enemies do large amounts of damage so you can't go in hacking and slashing and are forced to focus on defense which I found fun. The world is big filled with mini games and small sidequests to take on and the game truly feels like a journey thanks to the open road. I'll buy the soundtrack and the art is also stunning to look at and admire. I did experience a number of small tech issues like texture popins, but nothing game breaking.

Final Fantasy XV is a game that has presented me with many great memories filled with joy, laughter, and heartache. It’s a game I will never forget that is truly unique in the way it presents the world, characters and gameplay. Thanks for all the good memories Final Fantasy XV; and just like Noctis put it, what can I say you guys are the best!

I would say go into more detail, but character limit. I would give it a 9.5, but if I have to round I'll go up :)

I'm giving this game a 10 for one reason: Because I believe you can rate a game based on the way it makes you feel before, during and after playing it. The same way The Last Guardian was imperfect technically speaking but was flawless in the way it made you feel, Final Fantasy XV may have some flaws but works masterfully with the way the player feels during the story. The same way The Last Guardian was imperfect technically speaking but was flawless in the way it made you feel, Final Fantasy XV may have some flaws but works masterfully with the way the player feels during the story. And I'm not saying it makes you overly emotional or uses cheap tricks to make you cry; this game makes you feel exactly what the developers wanted you to feel each step of the way. I was halfway through the game when I realised I had felt excitement, happiness, curiosity, impatience, anger, loneliness, frustration, insecurity, confusion, heartbreak and many more emotions I could barely identify, all in one game. And let me tell you something, you will not find many games capable of making you truly FEEL the whole time, even if it's just feeling at peace.

Another point many people criticize is the story. Well, I don't think it is simple, or bland, or unfinished. I think it was presented in such a subtle way that you needed to actually pay attention to details in order to understand it and put the pieces together. Everything has a reason, even those little secondary missions people won't stop complaining about. They are there simply to make you bond with your friends, to have an opportunity to show their personalities, to make you feel accompanied. And by the point where you decide you keep going with the story, you have already formed a bond, you feel better just by knowing those three characters are there by your side.

I could use the 5000 characters to explain why I still think about FFXV days after finishing it, but I think it's better if you just give it a chance and try it for yourself.

I played all the numbered FFs, except the MMOs. XV is definitely a Final Fantasy game and it is a great one too. It reminds me of FF 6, 7 and 8 (which is a great thing). Boy, the ending was a tearjerker. If Square Enix could add Hard Mode (raise the prices really high on potions, etc.) and 2-3 more chapters near the end game (after Chapter 8), that would make the game even better. sure it has it's shortcomings like the long travel times, and the fact that you have to rent a chocobo instead of capture one yourself witch in my opinion losses some of the charm of having your own Chocobo.

but the battles are fun, the characters feels legit and you can almost believe that they have known each other for ages.

i have spent about 130h on this game and still haven't done everything.

Battle: 3/10 very badly executed. Except for dazzled visuals, there's absolutely No achievement gained after slaying a powerful adversary. All boss fights are extremely boring, basically all you need to do is to attack.
Dungeons: 9/10 I especially like the last imperial base. That dungeons is so long and keeps making people wonder what had happened here. But because of the existence of the ring, there's no challenging passing it.

The graphics are awesome, the history is interesting and there is a lot, but a lot of secondary missions and the world of the game is really beautiful, with a lot of places and dungeons to explore and items to find in this world. I didn't get the chance upon release unfortunately as real life took a lot of my time away from me, but when I finally got to play the game I had nothing but a blast.

The development of the game was a bit rocky, that much is clear, the thing is about the game though is that despite this rough time pre-release when the game came out it wasn't a mess or a disappointment, or even bad in any way, in fact quite the opposite as the game was fun, entertaining and even good. The feeling however was strange because it was still quite rough around the edges with a few little hiccups here and there.

Despite these flaws though the game never really let me down when playing it however, which was the most surprising factor.

Now to be more specific, this game clearly has a lot of love put into it from start to finish and really is a Final Fantasy for first timers and newcomers probably being the closest to the original in terms of feeling since the pre-VII titles. With the story whilst being a bit rushed in the later half still had some very epic and otherwise emotional moments. The characters were some of the most likable characters to have ever been introduced and the world was beautiful from start to finish.

It may not have been perfect, but overall it was a fun ride and isn't that the most you can ask for in a game?

They are continuously adding to the story of the base game for free, and have made the Season Pass more than worth it with the Episode DLCs, with the carnivals/festivals, and the upcoming multiplayer, Comrades.

When's the last time a developer has done things at the detriment of their own bank account to try to make the fans happy? With such dramatic failures like No Man's Sky and Mass Effect: Andromeda getting nothing, I will happily give major props to this game.

Perhaps if I had played it for the first time when it first came out, I would have been of the same mind as many people here, but I came in just a few months ago, and I am so happy with this game. It's the first game I've cared about enough to play for long enough to reach platinum with it. And the fact that the good stuff keeps on coming.

Yes, the game could have been better, and it's sad to see what happened with Final Fantasy versus 13, but given how much I enjoy this game as it is now, it would be disingenuous of me to give it anything shy of a 10.

if you're on the fence, and this review caught your attention as you're trying to decide whether you want to hop on board with this game, do it and remember that this is a game to have fun with. Final Fantasy has been a trendsetter for decades when it comes to games, and they can't evolve without leaving concepts behind in favor of new ones. Keep in mind that they built this game as part of a complete universe, and that you WILL want to take in all other media to get a good idea of the story. Final Fantasy XV: Kingsglaive is something like $5 USD on PSN, and free if you're subbed to Netflix (right now). Final Fantasy XV: Brotherhood is free on YouTube. There's even a free sidescroller that's like the old days of 1990s gaming dealing with the main character's father on PSN.

The DLCs are story important, although you'll want to play those after you finish the main game if you're one of those sorts that hate spoilers. Episode Gladiolus and Episode Prompto are out, with Ignis coming in December. The upcoming multiplayer Comrades is supposed to be important to the story, as well, and so long as you have the Season Pass, all four of these are covered inside of it!

Yes, the devs have produced crack like the Choco-Moogle Carnival, and the Assassins Festival, but these two were/are free, and all in total good fun.

This is a game you're meant to have fun with beyond the main plot, and it does it well.

Escaping the flames of war, Noctis epic journey with his best friends is very real and deep. The battle system is so good and the game has the best dungeons in all FF series. The characters are well polished something you see in many high budget games, the quad team that you play with throughout the game felt great making me want to play with them rather than seeing them and then going "meh ok let's go kill something".

The story was a little confusing to start with as I didn't know much about the characters or the factions or game worlds or the God's or the various unique animals but in someway it felt as if that made it more fun more adventurous and something which hooked me from start to end.

Aspects of the game like the limited driving and travel of the world, as well as the this weapon is best for this monster mechanic let it down for me a bit but not by much.

Overall this was a awesome game, had loads fun and really enjoyed it. However this to me seems like a game that I would only play once so future or even past installments of this franchise I wouldn't go hunting for, as I feel this was a one time thing and it's style and genre is not all for me.

BEST Final Fantasy game of all time! Finally, we have an FF game that focuses more on the characters and their relationships rather than BS expositions and background information. I also MUCH prefer this fast-paced Action combat system to the slow garbage turn-based systems of the past. 10/10

Possibly the single greatest video game ever made. Everything from the music, characters, gameplay to the visuals is absolutely unparalleled! (Also: Ifrit is by far the greatest Boss battle in gaming history.)

Rough edges can't stop the game from delivering an emotional, endearing and charming journey between 4 lovely chocobros.

If you have time to enjoy a story driven game with beautiful graphics, animations, and deep combat I whole heartedly recommend FFXV. Maybe for a bit beefier computers, i will update this post to how it runs when i upgrade my processor in march. Seriously recommended game.

The game has an amazing story and it has a lot of things to do. I know it has a linear area but you can still go back to the open area.

This game is good after all the updates. 7/10 is not fair. It is 9/10 for me. I gave 10 to balance 0s. This game is way more fun that that overrated game called Red Dead Redemption 2. At least better gameplay and that is all that matters. If it is not fun, why bother, right?
    Pros:
-Great gameplay and satisfying combat -Good but not great story -Great graphics -Tons of stuff to do

The combat, the story, the characters, the open world, the game, is absolutely everything! When I started the game, I never stopped because it got me hooked! This game is one of my favorites. The story is remarkable, the open world is extraordinary, and the characters are awesome. This is one of the most outstanding JRPG games I've ever played.

Falar do espetáculo que é esse jogo é bastante complicado! Joguei inúmeros títulos do final fantasy. Terminei o FFVII cerca de 5 vezes, Final Fantasy Tactics cerca de 4 vezes, FFVIII, FFIX, FFX, FFXII, serei uma vez cada! Mas acredito que FFXV esteja dentre os meus favoritos. After so many years of development, Final Fantasy XV is not what I expected it to be. The universe is immense and beautiful and the characters are just fine. But the story is short and disappointing and the gameplay suffers from lack of depth. FFXV is a good game, but it can never bring the former glories back to the series.

Even as you reflect on the rarity of a blockbuster that's willing to take real risks, you'll be left with the uncomfortable realisation that ten years wasn't quite long enough, after all. Those jagged edges are, in the end, just a little too sharp. [Feb 2017, p.110]

Despite a divided feel, torn between what it was and what it plans to be, Final Fantasy XV has a lot to offer. If you're a diehard JRPG fan, then it's a positive sign that the series can cross over to a new format. And if you're just looking for an open world adventure, Final Fantasy XV certainly has that in spades, while doing just enough things differently to separate it from the likes of Dragon Age and Elder Scrolls.
