    Horrible..
Take the old Fallout games. Make it multiplayer though its singleplayer and not multiplayer anyway. Remove everything else except looting, crafting and shooting.
There is no content what so ever. No ultrawide support. 60 fps.
I have never seen a finished product so empty than this.

Contrary to most of the gamers, I loved Fallout 4 more than FO3 and New Vegas. But this is a rip off, they are giving me the SAME game with a bigger map, NO NPC'S (where are you Preston?!?!?!), the game engine is old, the enemies have the SAME LOOT, and there are the worst MICROTRANSACTIONS I've seen lol (5 dollars for a hat?!?! There's a lot of issues with the scripting, and I bet there are gonna be a lot of hackers if Bethesda doesn't fix that.

They really could have just made Fallout 4, play with a buddy edition

I've been a fan since day 1 of Bethesda. I do totally enjoy Conan Exiles (which people yell at it is unfinished and buggy as well), BUT Bethesda can do more. This feels like a early mod. Yes the world is huge, and while reading some information here and there it sadly is the only way of storytelling. This in addition to an aged engine and even more bugs than usual. I love the fallout series and i feel that bethesda took advantage of that to push 76 on me. I keep trying to enjoy it (and genuinely did at first) but it fights me at every turn. The bugs are game breaking and the in game systems are the worst I've experienced. I don't even think it's salvageable with a years worth of updates.

I really wish they had given this game more time in develpoment, just way too many game have a "content roadmap" just make a game then sell it. This is some poorly coded mess that has a micro transaction store... unethical

I have played every Fallout, first to last, and from my time in the beta (friend key) this game has few to no redeeming qualities. Ripping out the (humanoid) NPCs, with narrative and quests tied up with them, populated settlements, choices and consequences, and companions with personality and story arcs, was a terrible mistake and kills this title on arrival. It's what most Fallout playersI have played every Fallout, first to last, and from my time in the beta (friend key) this game has few to no redeeming qualities. Ripping out the (humanoid) NPCs, with narrative and quests tied up with them, populated settlements, choices and consequences, and companions with personality and story arcs, was a terrible mistake and kills this title on arrival. It's what most Fallout players play for. Not shooting, looting, and building/crafting, or whatever godawful way that 'loop' was describied. The lore and the living, breathing, and rebuilding world. Not to hear some dads kids screaming at him that he is 'doing it wrong' all through character creation, exploring a world where everyone you might have wanted to interact with or things you might have wanted to do are already dead/over, and then spending a dozen hours seeing glimmers of what could have been amazing but was a total wasted oppertunity in reality.

Fallout 76 feels like you are playing the aftermath of a much better Fallout title. Factions and probably heroes fighting to survive, events and great battles and personal struggles playing out, before someone messed up and got a Game Over and everyone died. Then you arrive. You spend the entire game cleaning up a mess/messes left by extinct factions, in a dead and lifeless map, with the end goal of stopping/killing what caused a second mini apocolypse, probably with an alliance made up of a guy eating chips loudly down his mic, a silent dude in a dress and part hat, and someone who can't stop jumping for two seconds. If you are lucky enough not to be met with stony silence and people totally ignoring eachothers existence which was all I found.

Made single player, with a populated world full of NPCs, where the stories on the holotapes actually played out in front of you and you could take part, this could have been vastly better than FO4 or even Skyrim. It could have taken the crown of best Fallout from New Vegas without a challenge. Instead, it commits the worst sin of all, in that while being bad, it isn't even interesting. It's just so very, very boring. It feels more like a chore simulator than a video game.

And all this is without all the wonderous technical issues.

Avoid. I'm only giving it a 1 because nothing that even launches is worth a 0.

Bethesda, I'm curious. How could you tolerate a pathetic piece of sh*t like this to wear the Fallout name in the title? The only reason I am giving this a 1 is because the game at least starts when you launch it (though, whether or not the game decides to crash in the next five minutes is questionable at best.) I tried to go into this game with the most optimism and open mind that I could manage, despite knowing this is online only (a practice I am 100% against in this industry since as soon as you decide to turn the servers off, everyone is left with a $60 coffee coaster), yet you managed to make this dingleberry hit every sh*tstick on its way down the toilet. Outdated textures that look comparable to Morrowind in some areas (seriously, did you buy some of these enemies from the Unity Asset Store?), uninspired and boring weapons like the Pipe weapons from Fallout 4, a complete lack of story that carries the other Fallout games, lazy animations/complete lack of animations for some enemies, a nauseating V.A.T.S., and player interaction that is about as good as it was when The Elder Scrolls Online launched. I did not take this amateur hour school project back for a refund, instead I took it outside and fired 76 rounds of .40 S&W into it because I didn't want someone to see it Pre-Owned and think to try this cancer for themselves at the discounted price. Not only was the game bad, but you have also included microtransactions, false advertising on the collectors edition, made the game grindier post-patch without informing anyone, and disclosed people's credit card information. That, on top of the fact that you want to use the same engine for the new Elder Scrolls, has successfully ensured that I will never purchase another game from you ever again. Way to ruin a franchise with a great amount of potential. Expand

To be be perfectly blunt and concise, do not buy Fallout: 76 and steer very clear from Bethesda for a few years. If you get burned by them again, please help yourself to a Darwin award.

If you don't follow the game, I'm sure you're wondering what went wrong: was it the unplayable launch, packed with glitches and bugs from the Beta that they didn't do anything about? Perhaps you've heard of the very literal scam that Bethesda pulled with the canvas bags. The pathetic follow-up gesture by their incompetent PR teams offering some pocket-change of in-game currency? Even more impressively, customers silly enough to buy the $200 canvas bag bundle then had their personal information leaked, including home addresses. That should be enough reason to-

Oh dear, you want more? Very well. . .

There was the hilariously out-of-touch stream with Ninja, Justin Roiland and some random rapper filling every human on the planet's cringe quota for the next century. How about the gratuitous duplication of legendary/rare items that they can't stop? We also have the completely broken PVP system that the developers looked at each other and nodded, saying, "Yes, this is a good idea," in a completely unironic tone. There is also the constant issue of disconnections preventing you from being able to actually play the game, along with losing your camp that you built over and over. In closing-

Really? I have to keep going?

Yes, they're selling Pay-to-Win power-ups in the store now. (As of January 30th, bonus health). Yes, the game is recycled Fallout 4 assets and engine, with the same flaws and glitches. Yes, they sell slightly-altered armor skins for $20. Yes, Bethesda will completely destroy your character's skill build (which you pour countless hours into just to get) with random "balance" patches without offering anyway to respec. Yes, they are actually banning people people for speaking out against them, including closing their Bethesda account so that they cannot play any other Bethesda game that the victim owns. Finally, yes, they managed to correct some bugged content. . . but due to their gross negligence, brought back all of those same issues that they "fixed" in a calamitous patch. You may have originally believed that giving the game a 1/10 if too harsh. I hope this laundry list of issues proves otherwise.

I'm honestly not sure who to blame at this point, this whole enterprise has been a disaster, thoroughly dragging the Fallout series through the mud, perhaps never to shine brightly again. My working assumption is that those corporate heads grinded their greasy palms together, twirling their rat whiskers when they saw how successful those games like Day-Z and H1Z1 were. What better way to attempt to replicate that with Fallout-76? All they had to do was make a co-op game for the series- just a simple, honest, 2-player adventure through the apocalypse.

The real tragedy is that most people with common sense knew this game was going to be terrible at the reveal and yet the all-too-common faceless, mindless consumers that seem to always lack critical thinking still fell for it hook, line and sinker. . . a story too often told nowadays. Be the change- don't buy Bethesda.

First of all, we released a buggy piece of code, then continued with various fixes for 50 gigs, deleting the game because the client wanted it, not correct positioning of the product itself, just the worst communication with fans, with a price tag like RDR 2. I think that for such an attitude to their fans, they do not deserve not a single cent.

The bad: Build limit, stash limit, lag, quests, no npcs, items, crashes, etc.
    The good: cinematic.
This game needs more work. They should have hired voice actors and added NPCs. The programming on the stash/inventory/vendors just causes lag outs. Either this is intentional Lag, or horrible/lazy programming. Inventory that isn't even rendered graphically should not lag the system.

The programming on the stash/inventory/vendors just causes lag outs. Either this is intentional Lag, or horrible/lazy programming. Inventory that isn't even rendered graphically should not lag the system. They could have easily separated it more into pages so that only 10 or 20 items load in at once. There is appears to be an issue with over processing of the inventory.

And if "ARK" can handle better builds than Fallout 76, that's pretty bad.

It feels like no thought went into this game.

It's unbalanced. Enemies are either extremely easy or next to impossible.
One quest even says "recommended 8 players". That's just horrible. You would have to get groups from some obscure gaming website to be able to do that. There is not a group-up mechanism in game. And the levels of players on server are to varied. A level 4 is not going up against scorch beasts. You're lucky if you get two people in the same area, let alone 8.

This game should not have been sold. Waste of money. And this is coming from a guy that has skyrim tattoos. I love Bethesda. But this game is horrible. The only reason I keep playing it is so I get my money's worth and drudge through the npc Void story.

I think of Tenpenny Tower and Megaton, the Brotherhood and the Enclave, the NCR and Caesars Legion, heck even the Railroad and The Institute. All of these great rivaling factions interacting with each other and the characters within them telling their story, not through notes and holotapes, but through actions. The idea to do a Fallout game with none of that to me seems to me to be a terrible idea but i gave it a shot anyway. And after playing it for a few hours with a friend i can safely say that i will not be purchasing this game even if it somehow manages to get great reviews. The combat is so too weak to compete with any "decent shooter" and the pvp feels awful even with 2 separate teams fully committed to the pvp it just was a mess of poorly optimized laggy impossible garbage. While yes this can and will probably be fixed over the next 2 or more years of Bethesda fine tuning their game. The overall feel of the PVP combat itself was just boring and useless. And then there is the base building of this game that i just don't get at all, i don't remember seeing any positive reviews about building bases or anything with base building really in "Fallout 4" except maybe people liking what the modding community was doing. So i am really confused by Bethesda doubling down on the building aspect of "Fallout 4," and while yes they did make some minor improvements to this system, it still feels boring and empty if anything more so for the lack of NPCs floating around. If anything this will teach me to stop just throwing money at Bethesda for crapping out anything with the name "Fallout" on it and that is the only reason i am even giving this a score of 1 is because at least with this B.E.T.A. i was able to realize all of this and refund it, so it cost me nothing but taught me a great deal Expand

It is a lazy cashgrab. Don't pay 60 bucks to run around in an empty void. I feel bad for the Designers, that obviously put some thought and effort into the worldbuilding and trying to make something off this ancient engine. In vain, sadly, since the Bethesda was probably like "nono, don't worry, just do whatever, no effort, everyone is gonna buy it based off the name alone"
But the audacity this company has, to charge 60 bucks AND include laughable high Microtransactions is way beyond me.

It runs very badly on the PS4 too. I don't own a PS4 Pro, but i guess it runs a bit better there. It's very laggy, sounds pop in and out randomly, so do textures, when they don't decide to have a flashy rave.

I didn't expect much, and i still was utterly disappointed. I liked the previous entries, especially Fallout New Vegas and after keeping track of Beta Reviews, i thought i could expect some mindless, grindy, braindead fun. But all i got was a broken game and feeling ashamed of myself for giving Bethesda my money.
So don't be like me, spend your money on something else, just not this insulting abomination.

We started to chat and I said "This game is a huge disappointment, would you like to buy it from me for half off?". My buddy said sure - why not?

And that was it. It took about 15-16 hours for me to have this experience, but it was by far the most enjoyable part of my adventure. I wouldve literally burned the disc for free but I made back half of my purchase that I can put towards a game that has a development team that hasnt completely sold out a franchise for the name in exchange for profit.

It is a mod of fallout 4 with multiplayer at full price. It has bugs everywhere and the story is very limited. No NPCs and how multiplayer handles with missions between players is just broken. This is just depressing because i was looking forward to fallout 76 and now I just see trash. The game has exploits from day 1 and the engine it uses was old and outdated when fallout 4 came out.

o yes the game has it's flaws but as i stated earlier the bugs just break so much of this that it feels like a slap in the face that bethesda wants 60 bucks for this, i mean pubg has fewer issues than this (which is saying something). For instance the t-pose enemies, quest markers over dead corpses that have nothing to do with the quest, c.a.m.p setup destroying your building to force you to start over, enemies that LITERALLY do not die no matter how much you shoot or hit them, and mothman who i happened to come across and yes was the hostile variant who stood in front of me while he watched me kill him after 10 minutes of me hacking away at him. So yes the issues in this aren't small not by a long shot.

In short it's a buggy game that lacks depth while providing the user a very unsatisfying experience overall. So while people say "It's a multiplayer spin off it's not meant for you it's meant to be played with friends", just remember that playing games with friends is enjoyable in general, you could do the same in CoD, fortnite, LoL, Overwatch or so many other games and have just as much fun and enjoyment (if not more in all) and feel better than myself for putting up with this game.

Fallout76 is a very difficult game to review because it is such a bizarre entry to the Fallout series.
I believe I gave Fallout4 a 7 review, this is noteworthy because Fallout76 is basically 85% Fallout4 with all the NPC's and quests removed. (the things that made fallout4 enjoyable) all that is left is a hollow husk of a game, with the clunky gunplay and inventory system of Fallout4.

If you enjoyed the gunplay in Fallout4 and enjoyed building a settlement, but found the quests disinteresting. Then maybe Fallout76 is for you, if you want to go around bashing ghouls with your friends sure it can be fine.... for awhile. Other than killing random mobs and looting their corpses this game is devoid of purpose. There is no RPG elements, no branching stories, or interesting characters; just a group of roving psychopaths murdering irradiated creatures (you and your buddies).

I am very disappointed by this game, it feels lazy and uninspired. The game is also awash with bugs and technical issues. I hope for the sake of the Elder scrolls series that Bethesda will learn from the failure of Fallout76 that is my only positive for this game.

It is mind-boggling that a AAA game released in 2018 can have as many bugs and glitches as it does.

FOV/framerate locking, horrible optimization, I shouldn't have to make .ini tweaks in order to make a brand new game run at least halfway decently, even on a new machine. The world is dull and lifeless, you're just as likely to have a kid screaming into his mic as you are an actual productive experience with other players (my tally currently sits at 5 of the former, 2 of the latter). Refund, here I come.

With Fallout 76, it seems that Bethesda has stripped away the aspects of the game that made it worthwhile, and lazily left in everything that made it so frustrating and broken. Even most of the bugs and broken mechanics that were in Fallout 4 initially are still here, along with a slew of new issues. The game just feels like garbage to play, and it looks like a total mess. I dont mind that it is multiplayer, its a big map and its not often you see other players. But lets go over some of the details:

Graphics: Everything in the background look like it has haze/fog, all the time. The graphics on FO4 is better.when looking at objects in the distance.

Lootbox: its stupid with the 400 limit, its way to low. Fallout is a game where you should loot and collect for building and crafting. With this limit it destroys the fun of the game, because you have to use way to much time to handle inventory.

Framerate drop: I have noticed heavy framerate drop in scrapping menu, nearly to the point that the game becomes unresponsive if you have many items.
The same happens when you enter areas with many enemies or players. Also there is a lag from when you enter VATS until you can shoot. Not fun when the game throws many enemies at you. Its better to stay away from VATS in those situations.

Enemies and spawn: Its kind of stupid that enemies spawn at an area you have cleared right away. Its frustrating, and takes away some of the fun. Like, if I clear that area, leave to dump some items at my camp (that is placed just outside the area I cleared), I have to start all over when I return to same area a few minutes later.
The same if you die. I was clearing out a big area with high level Super Mutants, nearly at the end I died ( because of lag and unresponsive game). Then I could spawn outside the area, but I had to clear out everything one more time. I turned of the game instead. This is not my idea of fun gameplay.
No contact with server? Same result. I was thrown out of the server when clearing out many enemies, came to the last one and game froze, no contact with server, resulting in logging in again, spawned just outside said place and had to start all over again. (now with less ammo and food/stimpacks). This makes progress feel useless and boring/frustrating.This is not fun Bethesda,

Many times enemies float on the ground when they move, it kind of looks like they are on a hooverboard instead of running/walking. Enemies that you cant kill, enemies that just stand there. The AI in this game is rubbish.

VATS/Shooting: When targeting and shooting enemies in VATS it is a frustrating lag (as said before). From pressing button for entering VATS I have to wait a second before shooting. If I shoot right away the first bullet will miss as VATS uses around 1-2 seconds to lock on target. This is frustrating as you sometimes have to act fast when the game throws way to many enemies at you at once.
When in VATS its not possible to bash enemies with gun, this can be frustrating if your enemies are to close and VATS uses said time to lock.(communicate with server).

No NPC makes the game boring, with a very thin story. I really like and enjoy the Fallout universe, but this game dont belong in this universe. Shame on you Bethesda

You're supposed to be "Rebuilding America" in Fallout 76, but who are you rebuilding the world for? Because BGS has decided that no human NPCs will be in the game (thus eliminating the workload of building meaningful characters and a populated world), so are we rebuilding the world for our fellow Vault Dwellers? Probably not because they can build their own junk shacks. So... what's the point again?

I've played this game for just over 20 hours, and already the "main quest" is uninteresting and very predictable. It pains me to say it–because I love Fallout and have loved past BGS games–but this game is horrible. Do not buy this so developers will understand that we won't tolerate this kind of garbage in the future.

Power armor is designed to be used most all of the time however the sound is annoying after a while and the blocked field of view sucks. I understand people were upset with the bugs and glitches during the beta and think that the low reviews due to bugs BEFORE the game was released are uncalled for as it was a beta however I did not start playing it until it came out (actually about a week after it came out) and it still had bugs. Nothing like random crashing of a server or glitches making things fly. Maybe i was just hoping for something better. The final negative thing is the music! I'm not joking when i say that my daughter listens to fallout 4 music on google play all of the time and when she realized i had the new game she was soooo excited. When we turned on the radio, it was the same songs as fallout 4! Seriously! Expand

I just want to say: this game is the first fallout game since the first in the mid 90ies i do not like at all, the first i just cannot have any fun with. I even liked Fallout Tactics and as from now on the PS2 Fallout is not the lowest of this franchise. That at least made a little bit fun with a friend.

I feel betrayed by Bethesda. 60 Euro for a game that i cant even get rid of cause i bought it on psn. I hope i do my share to warn people.

Also, unlike what was advertised the game is barely playable solo. Multiple reasons for this: every thing is a bullet sponge that eats though the small amount of ammo that can be found. Then there is the lack of finding Stimpaks or things that can heal you. I can be hours of playing before running across a stimpack. Oh you also need food and water seams like every time I turn around I have to consume one or the other if not both. Also, extremely low cary wight but that's not too bad as you can put stuff in your stash when you get to it... oh and that is already full. no luck there. While the concept behind the game is certainly sound, the execution was dropped several times on it's head. The player count for the game is underwhelming, leaving each player sometimes struggling to locate one another. Graphically is no different than Fallout 4, along with bringing it's own bugs.

I however was quite optimistic about the game, giving Bethesda the benefit of the doubt. The game would only reveal a small amount but show it's colors and catch us all in shock. But it failed in the end, as it was shipped in what feels like early Alpha or Beta. While core mechanics are certainly present in the combat, and exploration, the lack of real story, content, NPCs, and substance hinder it. After getting a few good hours in with my partner, we found ourselves genuinely bored. We delved into the PvP system a little, but after a few honest fights, found players simply avoiding combat, which led to further boredom.

Enemies will respawn immediately once a new player has entered the AO. Meaning any fighting done to scavenge items must now happen again before looting peacefully.

Overall I feel like Bethesda dropped the ball, trying to create a Fallout style MMO like FF14 but their own twist. With no real story, lore to base content off of, and NPCs to provide much needed dialogue it feels empty. FF14 for example has NPCs that provide small quests or small bits of audio to help the game feel alive. Bethesda could create a few dozen quest givers, with the ability to become incapacitated or no hit boxes, as to prevent players from ruining other players games.

In the end I'll be returning the game, and waiting for it to release with more content hopefully. Otherwise this is a pass for me.

This game was very well intended, the idea behind it looks solid, but the state in which was delivered is pure garbage. Maybe it's just my isolated experience (which I doubt), but I can't play on server for longer then hour or two before I get disconnected from it. The bugs, glitches and crashes are endless and the frustration to finding out that the game didn't save last 10 minutes of progress (especially when you found some really cool random loot) before a crash is driving me crazy.
I can't find people to play with, since most of my friends after playing beta canceled their pre-order (good for them) and the random player encounters are generally pointless, because after some 30 hours into the game, I was not able to for a single party for coop. The game at least at these early stages is too easy to force people playing together and why divide loot?
And one final thing.. you can't store stuff in the world, because it doesn't carry over after server change. You can't really build stuff, because you have to rebuild it after server change. So the idea of rebuilding the wasteland is down the drain, because I can't see the point of trying to rebuild my camp and workshops every time I get disconnected from server and get migrated to a new one. And to make it even more insulting we get only 400 pounds of storage??? I mean, what the hell?
I can't comment on the game's story, because I didn't find any. It's a post-apocalyptic survival simulator, not a role playing game. Although the environmental storytelling is top notch, it's hard to stay motivated to soldier on playing this game when the occasional few seconds of ohh-moments is all there is to the story.
To summarise, this game is insult to anyone who actually sunk money and time into trying to make it work. Maybe in few months, after developers actually bother testing the game, it's mechanics and add a purpose to the chores of hoarding/exploring, I can see they'll make it fun to play. But right now, the players should get paid as testers, because that's what they are doing.
P.S.: I can't believe I took a break from red dead redemption 2 to sink my time into this garbage.

The game It feels almost like Bethesda have conned everybody out of their money, as this has a price tag of a triple A game & it is far from it almost worse than a E game if there was such a rating.
The price tag should be no more than $12 USA dollars.

Bethesda was asked many times in the past within blogs and forums requesting they make a Fallout game that was immersive as Fallout 4 and previous games but was just co-op, only with friends etc.

The multiplayer game route option they have took is terrible' glitches everywhere server kicks regular and game crashes way too much. This game has destroyed the Franchise and Bethesda should be ashamed of this half effort of a game!

No going back I suppose for them now, as the baseline game has been made almost it seems with the same engine yet worse outdated and so broken even with a 48GB fix it still plays boring and uninteresting with way to many features broken and missing.
If only they had listened to the community in the first place ''Single Player Only' OR ''Co-Op only''
Looks like they just made the game just for some quick Caps $£

I really think they spent more time and money on the Advert Trailer for the game than the actual game!

The third worst feature is that there is absolutely nothing and no one to care about in the story. Paid fast travel is the definitive insult to all the players becouse they basically stretched the few ideas they had on a huge low resolution and heavily bugged environment. Questing is also a nightmare becouse mobs are on random levels all around the map, so even if you follow the "story" (read on terminal/find stuff/try to figure out why the markers are pointing on random positions/repeat) you'll find yourself stuck in areas with mobs killing you way too fast.

An awful, boring, empty, pointless experience. There is, however, a glimmer of hope. It's worth mentioning that there has already been a Bethesda title that was equally as unimpressive: The Elder Scrolls Online - but looking at it now, it has transformed into one of the best MMOs out there. There's always the hope the Fallout 76 develops the same way and becomes something special, but for now, that seems impossible. It's a world away from that.

Fallout 76 isn't your typical fallout experience. You don't have NPCs or dialogue, but instead get real players that should fill this void - that ultimately fails to do so. It does some things right, but as of now I cannot recommend getting this game as long as it stays a broken and boring mess that it is right now.

Fallout 76 is the series’ Freshman introduction into the world of online, multiplayer games. As a result, we are experiencing all of the awkwardness and clumsiness associated with that season of life. It is imperfect and a bit uncomfortable, but I see opportunity for Fallout 76 to be more than it presently it - to be a truly great, rich Fallout experience.
