As a die-hard Fallout fan, I can only say that this game is horrible.
From an fallout perspective, this game is anything but fallout.

If you are a true fallout fan, this game Is absolutely not for you.
If you are a fan of simple sandbox games, like Rust, Conan exiles, ARK, but you always wanted that with a fallout skin, then this is not a bad game. Not the best, not the worst.

See this as a Fallout for kids.
A simple fallout game, with low effort, that's not meant for the fans.

Fallout new Vegas was made in a shorter time period than 76, and simply is way better.
Maybe it's time that Bethesda looks at obsidian for their spin off titles again.

Unfortunately Bethesda hasn't listened to the fans since fallout 4, and to think they'll change is just a pipe dream.

The main storyline, dialogue system and human characters have been replaced with repeated world events (similar to the never-ending radiant quests of Fallout 4) and side-missions conducted through robot characters and audio logs found around the map. The game emphasizes the survival elements of Fallout 4’s ‘hardcore’ mode and expands upon them, making the game more in line with other sandbox survival games like Rust and ARK... only Fallout-themed. You’ll be expected to eat, drink, cure diseases and take medication where appropriate.

The game's core gameplay boils down to exploring the map, killing monsters, looting items, building bases, and crafting/upgrading weapons/armor. The game puts you in a world with 23 other players and you can choose to go it alone, work with other players, or fight against them in the limited PvP combat. There are workshops you can fight over that provide resources and act as semi-permanent bases on the map. You can build smaller, personal bases with the CAMP system in certain areas of the map also. PvP can only be initiated if you attack another player's workshop, or if you damage the player and they damage you back. There is also a bounty system that puts a prize on your head and leaves you open to being attacked/killed. Death in Fallout 76 in general doesn't hold much at stake. If you die, you'll drop junk from your inventory -- all of which is easily replaced, as the game is constantly spawning more of it everywhere you go. You can also respawn wherever you want, which makes dying a convenient mode of transportation.

Combat with non-player-characters in Fallout 76 is almost identical to Fallout 4, both in how it controls and how combat engagements play out. The game typically spawns waves of hostile NPCs as you enter a zone or event area, and will sometimes respawn them if you stick around certain areas for too long. You’ll mostly be fighting robots, feral ghouls, super mutants, mirelurks, and a new adversary known as the ‘Scorched’ which can only be described as repurposed feral ghouls from Fallout 3 that can use weapons. There are also bigger, less common monsters you will eventually come across. While they may seem threatening at first, much of the time they can be outsmarted by exploiting their poor pathfinding and AI. The toughest of all adversaries you will face in Fallout 76 is known as the "Scorch Beast"; a mutated bat that is very similar to the dragons in Skyrim. The winged menace will endlessly fire magical radiation projectiles at you and take 10,000 gunshots before dying, making it more of a world boss.

Weapon and armor variety is in the same vain as Fallout 4, with some new additions (mostly new outfits that can be worn over armor). Customization is also about the same. You unlock new mods for weapons/armor by scrapping them for parts. Your gear will break after some time and can be repaired at a workbench, though it is usually cheaper to simply craft a new one if you've learned the recipe. Gear also has its own levels which will scale with your own level, and so you will often find a weapon that is unusable simply because it boasts a higher level than your character. You’ll need to collect junk across the map to make use of all of the crafting facilities in the game, which can be a chore to organize and store. There is a universal storage chest that pops up at many key locations, and can also be put in your own base, but beyond that you will have to craft more storage containers in your own base.

The game revamps Fallout 4’s perk system with a new “perk card” system. Each level you will gain 1 perk point that can be spent on a new card for each skill in the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. skill system. You will occasionally unlock perk card packs, which reward you with a small assortment of perk cards. Each card gives you a perk, and multiple cards of the same perk can be combined to provide a higher level perk card. Perk cards can be added/removed at a whim, and so your character build is a lot more flexible than in previous Fallout titles. As with the single-player games, you can expect a number of builds that are simply overpowered in PvP or otherwise.

If most of your fun while playing Fallout games is made up of exploring open worlds, shooting-and-looting monsters, crafting items and upgrading your character, this game will likely keep you entertained for a couple of weeks. If you care about any of the RPG elements of Fallout, enjoy a consistent lore, storyline, dialogue, and a sense that your actions and choices are leading up to something larger in scale, then you should steer clear of this game as it's not for you.

Fallout 4 may not have been the funnest game in the world, but the game at least worked. The story may have been fairly shallow, but it made sense and there was quite a bit to it. The world may have been a tad empty, but there was no doubt that there was stuff to do and things to explore. The combat may have had too much emphasis on gunplay, but the gunplay was the most fluid of the Fallouts and combat was easy and worked really smooth.

Not this game. This game doesn't work - it simply does not work. The game is not fun no matter how you slice it. Your framerate will drop to 15 FPS on console if you're ever in combat; the combat is very clunky and buggy; the graphics are okay, but the whole world looks more like a really good Fallout 4 mod than a new game; the storyline is GARBAGE because there is no story line, and while I know it wasn't necessarily supposed to have a main story, the sidequests are uninspired, recycled garbage that are meant to artificially extend the life of the game. The gun play is very difficult because of the sever frame rate drops. The building mechanics are glitchy and VERY restrictive. You cannot build a massive base like you could in Fallout 4, because the budget is so low due to trying to keep the frame rate workable.

Lazy, uninspired, dull, unfun, lifeless game that will bore you very quickly. This game is a chore to play.

The premise of Fallout 76 has several issues such as the removal of any human npc’s. This creative decision leaves the world feeling empty, lifeless and uninteresting. This game also focuses on areas of the fallout franchise that were not fan favorites (shooting, looting and fetch quests) in a blatant attempt for Bethesda and, by extension, Zenimax to get a piece of the ‘games as a service’ pie and to provide the company with a reliable source of finance for years to come, through the overpriced ‘Atom Shop’. Furthermore, the games horrendous performance on anything that isn’t an Xbox One X, the platform this game was clearly built for if the fact that the first gameplay trailer was announced at the Microsoft’s E3 conference, hampers any real enjoyment possible in this game. Overall this Fallout 76 is a definite avoid until it goes on sale for the price the game actually is worth ($30). Expand

Honestly, it feels almost like a regression from Fallout 4. They scrapped several mechanics throughout and there just wasn't anything to replace them with. The fact that there is just nobody around in the game NPC wise makes it feel incredibly lonely.

I love Bethesda and probably will even after this but this is not Fallout and should not even be associated with it. I did give it 2 points because the scenery and setting is beautiful but that gets old quick.

It has an overabudance of gamebreaking issues, the servers are unable to sustain the endgame without crashing(We launched a nuke and it instantly killed the server we played at, wasting all launch keys and keycards) it lags so much people are unable to loot and it randomly crashes due to 10 people being in the same vicinity inside the game. Certain quests resets upon leaving a server which crashing and disconnecting counts as.
Not to mention the numeric bugs and glitches that carried over from fallout 4 that they havent bothered to fix.

The game is fun as long as you dont run into bugs/gamebreaking glitches, sadly. there are more of those than raditation in this game.

It has the potential to be a great and fun game, sadly, that is too far out of reach at the moment, while it has alot of features promised, i can only judge it on what it actually has at the moment. It is a broken game that shouldnt have launched in its current state.

Incredibly slow to load, huge amounts of lag, often grinds to a complete halt.
If this is not bad enough then your faced with multiplayer and with no warning you have lost everything you have spent 2 days collecting, then 2 days later you die and game craps out and you lose it all again. Some instructions or tutorial for the multiplayer would have helped.

Check back in a year, I guess, when modders finish the game on Bethesda's behalf.
I put more effort into signing up to leave this review than they appear to have put into the game. If I thought they'd actually made mis-steps in the pursuit of fun instead of trying to cover up corporate compromises (like always online, no PVE/server-selection, no human NPCs), it might be worth a pity 3 instead of a 2.

It came with Spiderman and Lego Batman also part of the deal, and considering the price and competition I'm pretty sure Bethesda gave it away.

Like I say, I wasn't planning to buy it, but now owning it, and after a family sesh of spiderman last night, I felt I had to see what all the fuss was about. I've seen a lot of people saying they're having fun with this game, and I heard most of the bugs were on PC, so I was kinda thinking everyone was over reacting and the PS4 version would really be okay. I've put 3.5 hours in at this point, and .. yeah it's the worst AAA game I've played, hands down. If I payed real money for this, I'd be angry - I'm even annoyed that it came with the bundle TBH. I want to give it 1/10, because it really is a joke of a $60 game, but I'll leave it as a 2/10 on the assumption they fix the bugs.

To be clear, this game will be really boring I think even once they fix the bugs. I would place it around the level of no man's sky in terms of things to do, meaning you try make your own fun. On the topic of bugs, no it's not just PC, yes they are that numerous, yes it is utterly ridiculous for what's supposed to be a AAA game. Most common ones for me are graphics errors where things are not loading or popping in, atrocious frame rate (even though there's sometimes not that many things visible and the ones that are look like assets from a 10 year old game, the framerate will still noticeably slow down), some animation errors where they seemingly don't load the next animation or skip one, and, of course physics bugs. It's not AS bad as what I've seen people saying the PC one is, but it is totally unacceptable. You think; this came with Spiderman which is supposed to be it's equal in terms of price and quality and this game just feels like a cruddy indiegogo game built with fan-made fallout assets next to a polished, quality product.

As for the game play... there's nothing "wrong" with it, there just isn't really any. You get a list of chores, you do a list of chores, you get bored and see if anyone else is about to play with but they're all bored too.. If bethesday don't do something fast (meaning about a year of development in a month) it seems inevitable that the active player numbers will drop below sustainable by christmas.

Don't buy this game, and if it came free with your console, don't waste your time playing it until it gets the development it needs.

The combat is usually only at a couple of frames per second on my PS4 Pro. Animations don´t work. Invisible walls and ruble. Loot disappears in objects. Enemy´s don´t fight back. Enemy´s spawn in beside you. Enemy´s get stuck inside objects. Path finding is awful, enemy´s are running against walls. Settlement building is bugged. VATS is broken, accuracy can shift between 100 and 0 for no reason. And much much more, even bugs from fallout 4 is still there, mainly power armor bugs. I played for a little bit more than 76 hours, I've reached lvl 80 and in the process completed several innumerable quests, fought in pvp and took part of events. I really wanted to like this game because it feels so comfy just walking around the Appalachia exploring, and discovering the over 100 different locations in it but simply this game just doesn't work.

The story. Honestly, I stopped caring about the story at some point. Listening to monologues on holotapes all the time is boring, specially when the game doesn't stop (because of it's online feature) and you're always hearing noises, enemies and random people talking on their microphones. It's just a really weird way of replacing NPC's and dialogues that doesn't work pretty well. Sometimes I would find myself venturing into a random building, hacking into terminals and reading the mails and information to learn more about the lore but most of the time I wouldn't find anything interesting. In general it just sucks that everyone is already dead when you get out of the vault.

The enemies. Ghouls and scorched are spread everywhere so you're going to see A LOT of them and killing them gets way too repetitive after a couple of hours. The AI is way too primitive, enemies get stuck everywhere or sometimes it seems like they can't see you at all. You're gonna spend the first hours of the game admiring the flying Scorchbeasts flying above you and once you're strong enough to take one down with your friends you're in for a huge disappointment as these boss-like enemies don't drop any notable loot and they're just a waste of ammo, because trust me they usually take a lot of ammo to kill. You know when you're playing a game and after hours of farming and grinding you kill a specific enemy or boss and you feel so much pride of what you just accomplished? Well, you're not gonna get that feeling here.

The PVP aspect. When you shoot someone first you barely deal any damage so you gotta wait until the other player shoots you back in order to begin a "duel", unless they have a bounty on them. The most fun I've had so far was finding two players (bounty on them) attacking someone else's camp and taking them both down with my .50 cal. machine gun from behind, later accepting one of the player's challenge to kill each other. The worst experience I had with pvp was getting killed by a player wielding a knife and sporting a jet pack, this guy hit me and flew onto a building rooftop, of course I couldn't follow since I don't have a jet pack yet. He eventually killed me, I came back for revenge only to realize he was glitched so no matter what weapon I used I wasn't dealing any damage. This is a common issue, by the way.

The copy-pasting. Basically, what Bethesda did here was recycling most assets from Fallout 4, like weapons, armors, automated turrets, buildings and enemies, without providing with more content, which is what most fans expect from a new game. We have this whole new map to explore only to find the same power armors (except for the new Ultracite PA), the same guns and the same enemies from Fallout 4. Charging fans $60 for a multiplayer Fallout 4 experience complete with the same glitches it had 3 years ago is totally unacceptable. We deserved a whole new game, not a recycled one with a few add-ons.

The collector's edition. I just want to say I'm really disappointed with this, I care very little about the bag not being canvas although Bethesda failed to delivered something that was already promised but the T-51 power armor helmet's quality is outrageous, we paid $200 for it and it has glue everywhere, it feels cheap as hell and I feel like I'm gonna break it if I touch it too much. I also own the Titanfall 2 Vanguard's Edition helmet and the quality is 100x better even thought the price was around $150 I think.

Overall the whole game is broken, every day people find new bugs and Bethesda fails to keep up the pace fixing things. A huge disappointment.

InI have played around 50 hours of this game, and I can say that if you're expecting a nuanced and detailed story like previous Fallouts, you will be disappointed. Fallout 76 strips you of interesting sidequests and storylines that made previous Fallout games. There's no factions or reputation system, There are no companions or NPCs that have interesting backgrounds or stories to tell. In fact, I can hardly say there is a "story" with this game at all, as it just involves running quest marker to quest marker, quest marker to quest marker. The quests are given out by holotapes and voice recordings and the main protagonist just decides to follow them ad nauseam. Fallout 76 completely takes away any semblance of player choice that made Fallout such a good franchise in the first place, you can not choose who to side with to finish the main story, as you are forced to work with different "factions" that consist of only dead people and robots.

All of this is to be expected of an online Fallout, though, right? What about the gameplay? The gunplay and shooting mechanics are serviceable, to the game's credit. I don't think there have been this many guns in a Fallout game, so you will always pick up new varieties of guns to shoot and play with, which was a big positive. You can mod the guns by scrapping old weapons and learning mod schematics, which I thought was pretty interesting. Power Armor is back as well, being as cool and tanky as ever. Scavenging for junk to build and mod your armor and weapons is time-consuming, but I thought looting and shooting was the most enjoyable part of the game. Some of the guns and armor I picked up though are locked behind level caps, such as the experimental mirv I found being only available past level 45. I know this is to balance the game's "PVP", but they mess that up terribly. The PVP system was the main thing I was looking forward to in the game, being able to snipe and kill people from long range, blow them up, etc. The PVP, however, is very underwhelming. If you attack someone, or they attack you, the damage dealt is reduced by about 90%. This "damage" is more equivalent to being hit with a pool noodle. There was one point where a level 50 came up to me, a level 10, and hit me with a super sledge around 10 times and only took off about a quarter of my health. You can literally choose to play the game without other people bothering you at all! If the person attacked fights back, however, you both do regular damage to each other. This system leads to people getting shot at, then going into their pipboy and taking all of their chems and just barrel stuffing their attacker with a shotgun. This system is unlike any I have ever seen, it just doesn't work properly. Without a properly working PVP, the game turns into a subpar shoot and loot. The game pretty much devolves down into go here, kill these guys, come back. Go there, kill these nameless enemies, come back. Though I did find myself enjoying exploring the numerous dungeons and areas, the enemies were always the same. It's just scorched, ghouls, mole miners, and super mutants, over and over again. This is unfortunate as some of the areas have super interesting backgrounds, and they're completely glossed over for just killing the same nameless enemies again and again.

The "RPG" mechanics as Fallout is known for are minimal. Your character never seems to get any interesting skills, and most, if not all of the perk cards are things like "10% damage boost with rifles" or "Junk items weigh 25% less". Gone are the days of interesting perks that can change the way the game is played. The perk cards serve their purpose, but for the sake of "balance", any interesting builds and perks from even Fallout 4 are scrapped.

All of this to mention that the game, technically, is similar, if not WORSE to any other Bethesda game. I had my game crash around 20(!) times in my playthrough of Fallout 76. I also had numerous occasions of bugged quest markers and glitched quests that I literally had to close my game numerous times to get the quests to actually work. The game runs like absolute crap on PS4, with frame drops and lag spikes very, very common. There were points in the game when I was in buildings in the wasteland where I was getting around 5(!) frames per second. This wasn't spikes in frames either, no. There were certain buildings where if you visited them this would be CONSISTENT until you left. Games in this state should NOT be released, especially for 60(!!!!!) dollars as a "AAA" experience.

Fallout 76 feels like a game without identity, straddling the line between PVP and PVE, while not committing totally to one or the other. It's too scared to fully embrace the PVP, yet it relies on being multiplayer too much to have any interesting RPG elements, NPCs, Factions, or side quests. Bethesda should have just fully committed to one or the other, and not give us this mediocre "run here, shoot this" type of game.

    2. Yes, we the formerly loyal fan base are used to -- and even often amused by -- the numerous bugs and glitches that have traditionally been associated with fresh Bethesda game drops. I mean, we get it: the worlds they typically create are huge and ridiculously complicated, so it's totally unsurprising that their new games will be more infested with bugs than a tenement apartment has cockroaches.
    3. This game, however, is a whole new level of horrific, half-baked gameplay; frankly, I can think of no other phrase than dumpster fire to describe the sheer, virtually colossal degree of jammed-up, low- frame, repetitive, bugged-out pile of flaming garbage that is Fallout 76.
    4. To clarify where I personally am coming from, I am both a long-time fan of the series -- yes, one of those crazy people that spent hundreds of hours playing and replaying Fallout 3, Vegas, and 4 -- and am most definitely not the sort of fellow that typically complains about games on internet forums.
5, Which is why I signed up on metacritic just to write this post. This game and -- as is becoming abundantly clear -- the company behind it has stepped so far over the line in terms of willfully screwing over their customer base that i simply felt obligated to warn off other video game fans from getting suckered into plonking down their hard earned green in exchange for a burning chunk of roadside debris.

However, the reality is that Bethesda rushed a half-baked game that stripped the charm of Fallout series from the game, while failing to implement basic aspects of the MMO genre that have evolved over the last decade into standby's of the genre. Gone are the compelling Fallout stories, characters, quests and emotional ties to factions and companions. Gone is the humour and quirkiness, or surprising bits of lore that were embedded into the very fabric of the post-nuka landscape. Effectively, the Fallout world was reduced to another post-apocalytic wasteland with echoes of what drew people to Fallout over the past 15-years. Combine this with failing to implement any form of zoning mechanics, a total lack of instancing, terribly buggy re-spawn, woeful inventory mechanics, recurring and frequent bugs with C.A.M.P. spawning/placement, and totally non-intuitive levelling, and you have an MMO that learned NOTHING from WoW or other pioneers of the MMO space. From vanilla WoW through to Cataclysm, WoW always had a strong storyline and quest-givers that kept you involved - Bethesda could have taken this approach and not rushed the game to market and thereby would have kept the feel of the Fallout world, but alas, they chose not to.
Overall, after playing Fallout76 for a couple months, giving it more that a fare share of playtime, I can't rate this game more than a 2/10.

Deceptive marketing and other promotional products, a money-grubbing micro transaction store, newly introduced pay-to-win micro transactions, and multiple year old bugs from Fallout 4 being introduced in new patches?

Nothing about this game was finished, which would make sense, as Bethesda had their B-team on it. For such an ambitious project, only the best in the industry should've been around for it, not the shovelware-tier developers. Development could have continued into Q1 or Q2 of 2020, and I still have doubts that any level of polish would've made its way to 76.

Countless videos and essays and articles have been written, however, Joseph Andersons' pair of videos ((If you care to have THREE ENTIRE HOURS of bug reviews, plus his full format review)) for the issues with Fallout 76 itself, as well as Internet Historians' video covering everything surrounding 76 are excellent ways to recap everything wrong with modern Bethesda.

Illegal conduct in the means of marketing, illegal conduct in the means of negligence, illegal conduct in the means of customer deception, as well as inconsistent return policies, and this threadbare, duct-tape-and-bubble-gum excuse for a "video game" leave only one option. Bethesda is never to be trusted to produce a product of quality, instead, a train wreck, to point and laugh at out of morbid entertainment.

If you are the least sensitive to clumsy and greedy business-practices this is not the game for you.

The metacritic-reviews that defend this game or give it 10/10 suffer from one of the things that have bothered me the most when playing Fallout 3 - 76 as well as Skyrim. Why not settle with something realistic such as you either be the leader of the Dark Brotherhood or head of the Companions or Arch-mage. Or why not just Joe Schmoe in a big world of wonder?

Yeah, I know; it sounds stupid but in an fantasy-world it's unrealistic that you are the chosen one as well as the leader of any organization you happen to stumble across. And it's totally unrealistic that anyone who has played any AAA-title in the last five years actually thinks this booooring mess is actually really good unless you are paid to say otherwise.

Sadly it has (at least for now) made me grow totally tired of all them. I've uninstalled both Skyrim and Fallout 4 from my ps4 and doubt I'll ever play anything from Bethesda again... :(

The crafting system is nice, as is the camp building and survival aspects. So that is the +2 points. The other 8 points...well let’s start from the beginning and work our way forward. The game released riddled with bugs and glitches that I would expect to see in a beta for most devs, but this being Bethesda, it was about par for the course. Which would have made it forgivable iif not for them announcing before hand that the game had 16 times the detail of FO4. I’m not sure where this detail is supposed to be found, but it is not in any part of the game I have explored in the last 100+ hours. Further more, the story is lifeless. I had an open mind with the holotape telling of the story and robots and the like...but the story itself simply lacked life, As usual with a Bethesda game now, combat is unimpressive as well. We move forward and see that the atomic shop now includes functional items, seemingly contrary to Bethesda’s original statements, but they conveniently only said the Atomic Shop would be cosmetics. Not that it would be cosmetics ONLY. I’m not sure that any of the player base caught that one prior to launch. Now instead of working on content that has been promised, begged for, and could save the game (NPCs), they have announced a 100$ a year paid subscription to private servers, something that was confirmed to be in the plans prior to launch, but never mentioning it being charged for, much less 100$ a year. Given the nature of mods (a core part of Bethesda games now), they are likely to be behind this steep pay wall as well. Given all of these facts, a 2/10 seems more than generous for a game that was released half baked and over priced, and remains so to this day. Expand

I leveled myself to 77 when this first came out and then stopped playing completely for the last couple of years. I 'thought' given the amount of time it's been, they should of had enough time to address many of the issues that made me quit in the first place. And of course, creating a fresh character makes me run into the same issues that have pissed me off with every Bethesda iteration. In this case, I talking specifically about the button mapping issues that has persisted for decades now. And every time, I need to go back and reset to the default button layout so that I can see where the button's' that don't work, get mapped to. As the engine has a terrible time showing and correctly mapping buttons. I am a pc gamer - I map my "Active/Activate" button to the letter 'G' - but in FO76 - the letter G only rotates items when you try and build sometime and does not allow you to actually place the item. So again...I have to reset buttons to default, see that the default is 'E' - reroute this to another button that doesn't 'rotate' items when in build mode.
I'm so tired of this...I've experienced some form of frustration around the button layout in virtually every single Bethesda game I've played for the last 15-20 years. Why is this so hard to address?!?

The "game" is a boring 2nd life with long slow travels walking to constantly find food and water. You're health and action bars are constantly lowered by unavoidable disease, irradiation, thirst and hunger. Your inventory is low, vendors carry little cash and necessary supplies are limited. So fine the game forces you to live with very little. Don't get attached to a good weapon because it breaks and you don't have the resources to repair it. Don't build because someone will drop a nuke and you'll lose your camp. Don't modify anything because again it'll break and you can't repair it without looking for items for hours. You can't afford to buy them. You can't afford to fast travel and you can't run so you'll walk forever to go anywhere. If you do fast travel free back to base and when you go through doors both with long load times you'll likely be surrounded by a hoard of enemies when you spawn and you'll die. When you die you lose all junk and you have to go back and die again trying to retrieve it if someone doesn't steal it first. There's no way to play co-op even with friends much less strangers because everyone will take different times to manage items, health, read/listen to items. There's so few people on your server on a huge map there's no help in public events which give you fewer gifts than the supplies you'll use accomplishing them. And if you claim a workshop for a public event your caps were spent on something that disappears when you log off or someone steals it. Welcome to your new life. Basically don't buy, build or get attached to anything. Live off of whatever weapon you can find at the moment and when it breaks or the ammo runs out have a back-up and pick up whatever else is dropped. The maps will show you in general where you'll be walking to but won't show local maps or anything helpful like locations for benches. Since the game is live good luck trying to hack a computer because you'll be attacked during. And good luck trying to use the vats or manage weapon and health items during combat. So if living with nothing, having your whole day be occupied with looking for food and water and having what little you acquire be taken away this is the game for you. Expand

This is a very raw and boring game, regardless of whether you are playing alone or not alone.
Standard actions, the absence of the NPC, annoying combat system, a simple journey around the world quickly bored, nothing to catch in the game

At mid November 2018, this game is almost unplayable. It's broken. Don't lose your time with this.

I'm a huge Fallout fan, so I'm incredibly sad and disappointed to be playing this mess of a game, I do kind of wonder if this is just a cash grab from Bethesda with added micro transactions on an already expensive game.

Next time Bethesda listen to your fans and not assume you know what you're doing.

The game has a weak story and contradicts its own lore. It's a complete asset flip from Fallout 4. While the game has fun moments, I left frustrated after the game deleted my entire hard-earned power armor due to a bug. The game has too many game breaking bugs. I would stay clear for 6-12 months until they have fixed everything and added better content, let your wallet speak, maybe they'd stop rushing it for next time like this. Expand

All the people who are giving this game a score above 4 are lying. this is a mess. what a big failure. Todd and bethesda are the new hello games plus the new EA. and you know what bothers me? theyre working and theyre the ones who will release the new doom games and that worries me. not going to trust Todd howard again. Why everything that goes mainstream dies or gets destroyed? justAll the people who are giving this game a score above 4 are lying. this is a mess. what a big failure. Similar to playing with your garbage bin. No storyline and quite boring. Only up side is that there'll be less bugs playing with your garbage than Fallout 76

Disappointed in the presentation. This look like a modern game and certainly not up to triple A standards. Extreme disappointed. Avoid this cash grab until it hits the sale bins.

I knew that this game wasn't gonna be mind blowing by any account but my friend and I had planned to both get it to play it together. I thought at the very least it'll be enjoyable playing with them.. I didn't think i'd end up falling asleep whilst it playing with them. I went into this game expecting it to be average but average would be a compliment. I went into this game expecting it to be average but average would be a compliment. Fallout 76 feels like a small grade up from those asset flip **** games that people would put on steam. As consumers for Bethesda games we expect bugs on launch... but I got this a month after launch (cheap thankfully) and it's one of the buggiest games I've ever seen. There's no story, no NPCs to talk to and no sense of wonder as youre exploring the map. Buildings and places are just shamelessly reused from other fallout games and pasted.

It's just a mess and I wish I could sell this game but I'd feel guilty putting the pain of the game onto another living person. This game has broken my faith in Bethesda and I have lost my excitement for Elder scrolls 6 because of it.

So utterly disappointing and flawed in every possible way… The first few hours, most of it can be ignored, and occasionally the flaws can be forgotten, but only briefly before they come storming back to the forefront. An awful, boring, empty, pointless experience. There is, however, a glimmer of hope. It's worth mentioning that there has already been a Bethesda title that was equally as unimpressive: The Elder Scrolls Online - but looking at it now, it has transformed into one of the best MMOs out there. There's always the hope the Fallout 76 develops the same way and becomes something special, but for now, that seems impossible. It's a world away from that.

Fallout 76 isn't your typical fallout experience. You don't have NPCs or dialogue, but instead get real players that should fill this void - that ultimately fails to do so. It does some things right, but as of now I cannot recommend getting this game as long as it stays a broken and boring mess that it is right now.

Fallout 76 is the series’ Freshman introduction into the world of online, multiplayer games. As a result, we are experiencing all of the awkwardness and clumsiness associated with that season of life. It is imperfect and a bit uncomfortable, but I see opportunity for Fallout 76 to be more than it presently it - to be a truly great, rich Fallout experience.
