    I expected a lot more from one of my most beloved game publishers.
    Fallout 76 is a complete disgrace in my honest opinion.
    in the early days, Morrowind and oblivion had glitches and bugs that were to be expected, Fallout 3 had the exact same issue but the gameplay and story put those problems to the wayside. With the release of new vegas and then Skyrim the novelty of Bethesda was    I expected a lot more from one of my most beloved game publishers.
    Fallout 76 is a complete disgrace in my honest opinion.

    in the early days, Morrowind and oblivion had glitches and bugs that were to be expected, Fallout 3 had the exact same issue but the gameplay and story put those problems to the wayside. With the release of new vegas and then Skyrim the novelty of Bethesda was wearing thin, however, with the release of Fallout 4(a game I was genuinely excited for) the never-ending pattern of poor quality, the use of an aging engine, unbelievable persistent bugs present since oblivion days and an uninspiring story. all I can say is, thank god for mods.

    Fallout 76 is the worst game ever created by the publisher but fortunately for them, there are people who enjoy the opportunity to play fallout with friends and family. However, this does not excuse the fact that this is a "boring as **** game. NO NPC's except quest giving robots, A boring as hell story(if you can call it a story), terrible enemy encounters, sucky at best PVP and early 2000 graphics that want to make me throw up.
    It's sad when small indie game developers are doing a far better job producing quality games with a compelling story for $20-$40 and Bethesda wants $60 for a sub-par game with in-game currency and purchases. Most games like Fallout 76 are generally free-to-play with in-game purchases, the best example is always WARFRAME.

    Don't purchase this game, find a trusted reviewer and then make your decision. Don't let Bethesda off the hook for this cheap attempt at money grabbing.    … Expand

    This game is an unacceptably broken, creatively hollow, blatantly exploitative, and shockingly lazy execution of a fundamentally flawed concept.

    You may be able to enjoy playing Fallout 76, but Bethesda certainly do not deserve your money. Vote with your wallet, and force Bethesda to confront their own failure. DEMAND better from this venerable developer.

    It may be fun for the first few hours, if you ignore all the bugs that should have being fixed ages ago in Beta, but then it gets completly boring with hollow quests and bad gameplay.
    This is not Fallout.

    The game itself is . . . empty.
    This is not an rpg as show the lack of npc or the (only) simple quest (go there, kill, loot, repat). You can found storie (trought note and hollodisk or terminal) but you will never be part of anything.
    This is not an FPS, as bugthesda never understand how to make shooter or the ennemi IA that goes with it.
    This is not a survival game as past the few first level you would have no difficulty regarding thirst or hunger.
    This is not an open world PVP as the mechanics are all against pvp (no loot, duel had to be accepted, etc).
    This is not a building game as the limitation won't allow you to build anything biger than a 3 stories house. and anyway you'r camp disaper when you leave server.

    So what is it? It does have the game engine of FO4, it does have the colors of FO4, but it's empty. . . Nothing to do, nothing to see, no fun. Beteshda sould have remeber that FUN is part of the definition of GAME and SUCCES.

    And i had to say it but the atom shop. . . buy usless emoticon, hat or pyjamas are overexpensiv (6$/€ for pyjamas. . . ), pass your way nothing to see.
    At least it doesn't make microtransaction P2W or unavoidable. Which is actualy the only good point of this game.

    I was defending 76 from the very beginning, I was trying to give this game a chance. I can forgive it everything:
    - crappy graphics, bugs, missing chat, empty world, boring quests, tiny C.A.M.P budget. stupid controls and interface... But the stash limit and shared vendor caps -    I had to register account on Metacrit just to write this review. That alone should explain how pissed I am.

    Went in hoping for a new experience from a well established heavy hitter in Bethesda...boy was I in for a rude awakening. A total buggy, boring, lack of effort mess. Congratulations Todd, you have become the new "Hello Games". Your only saving grace is you did'nt promise the moon and delivered a pebble. You promised **** and that's exactly what we got.

    where do i even begin what a steaming pile of **** absolute technical mess the game is **** disappointment. I mean whose idea was it to take out npcs and leaving up to other players to make an experience and the holotapes dont even get me started. Whats the point of meeting other people if they don't **** interact with you??????

    This is probably the stupidest game I've ever heard of. So you have to pay $60 just for the game and then additional fee each month just to play the damn thing? What a retarded thing to do. This is the last time I will be purchasing a Fallout game. I've Xbox and Playstation want me to "subscribe" just to use the things I've already bought for them, then that's me turned off of gaming forever.

    I have never played a fallout game before 76. But I looked into the lore of fallout after I saw fallout 76. I was hoping the game was going to be a good pvp game. But there is almost no pvp only duels this is so stupid why can't they have pvp and pve servers. If there was more players and better pvp this game would be one of my all time favorites. Fallout 76 tries to be a good multiplayerI have never played a fallout game before 76. But I looked into the lore of fallout after I saw fallout 76.     I've played fallout since the first pc interplay game. This is just a Bethesda money grab. Same engine and graphics they've been using for the past decade, only its multiplayer. Sort of. I played today for one hour. Saw one other player, who did nothing but repeatedly shoot my guy as he was trying to sleep. The world is a dead, empty wasteland. They got that right, although not inI've played fallout since the first pc interplay game. This is just a Bethesda money grab. Same engine and graphics they've been using for the past decade, only its multiplayer. Sort of. I played today for one hour. Saw one other player, who did nothing but repeatedly shoot my guy as he was trying to sleep. The world is a dead, empty wasteland. They got that right, although not in the way they intended. So you no longer even pretend to have a conversation.

If I wanted to interact with random people and "join up" I would have played Call of Duty. Hydration, Food Consumption, any interaction with other players, fast travel cost should all be OPTIONAL!     No refunds, no fov, insanely shallow, this is a definite dont buy. No substance, no fun without friends, nobody has mics. This game is just not fun. Period. The stash size is a constant 400 which limits you to about 10 hrs of actually playing the game. Absolutely dont buy this.

    A game where the devs rather than write a story figured it would be better to make the players the content. Why play a game where all the normal people are the content? What's the point?     This is a shell of a game that shouldn't be supported. Look at Red Dead Redemption 2, A gorgeous game with a 60+ single player story mode and an multiplayer component added on later. ADDED ON. This would be an ADD ON in another game, not a full price game on it's own.    … Expand

    Buggy grouping system most of the time you can't team up. Old graphics, terrible FOV, boring game play, storyline that you can't feel for it except being an annoying task, expensive micro transactions that is pretty much pointless as you still need resources to craft them, immense amount of bugs. DO NOT BUY YOU WILL BE BORED TO DEATH.

    But here's why: No NPC = No emotional investment/attachment to an empty world Graphics look worse than Fallout 4 = A boring world to look at, looks dull and bland or plain Monsters = They look cool, they're the ONLY thing that's actually okay in this God forsaken game Weapons = Nothing to be amazed at, pretty average- move on    Game's bad. That's all you really need to know

    But here's why:

    No NPC = No emotional investment/attachment to an empty world
    Graphics look worse than Fallout 4 = A boring world to look at, looks dull and bland or plain
    Monsters = They look cool, they're the ONLY thing that's actually okay in this God forsaken game
    Weapons = Nothing to be amazed at, pretty average- move on
    Character Creation = Exactly like Fallout 4- nothing new and pretty boring

    Overall - Just get Red Dead Redemption 2, if you don't want to then look elsewhere- maybe play the
    new Spyro game, AC: Odyssey, other older games or wait until the New Year to get some

    I had heard so much about the Fallout Franchise from my friends but I had never touched a Fallout game before. Seeing the reviews, hearing stories and responses for previous games I had no doubt that 76 was going to be a blockbuster, the trailer was chilling and when I bought the game on the PS store I had goosebumps. Soon after my download started I started going through the reviews asI had heard so much about the Fallout Franchise from my friends but I had never touched a Fallout game before. Seeing the reviews, hearing stories and responses for previous games I had no doubt that 76 was going to be a blockbuster, the trailer was chilling and when I bought the game on the PS store I had goosebumps. Soon after my download started I started going through the reviews as approx. 15 hours had passed since the game released.

    I found mostly negative reviews but I told myself "These people must be haters or just wanting another typical Fallout game" I was excited to tryout the first full-online Fallout game myself and I gave the devs a lot of credit to begin with for taking this risk to change the way Fallout games were.

    But f****** h*** this game is a piece of s***, I tried so much to be happy, motivated to go up and play this game but it is absolute nonsense. I only opened the game again because I told myself "I have paid 60 bucks, I need to see where this goes"

    PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY, DO NOT SPEND IT ON THIS C*** !!

    You cannot even sit on a mountain top or enjoy the scenery or sunset rays because some f****** mutant animal or rogue robot will start shooting the f*** out of you !!!

    Yeah great job Bethesda !! Way to go !! Pop all the champagnes you can !! So now if we need to play or enjoy games we need to go around socializing and encouraging people to play it with us !!

    Even when you tag an item while trying to cook, you cannot see it anywhere on the map !! so you expect us to keep searching the entire f****** map with the stamina meter depleting in less than 10 seconds !! F*** YOU !!

    You studio will never be the same as Guerrilla Games or Rockstar !!

Bethesda are destined for Chapter 13 if they don't give us that next FO3/NV within the next 5 years. I'm rooting for either or at this point to be honest.… Expand

So you are forced to go look for a person but you know exactly he will just be a corpse because the whole mechanic doesn't exist. It's so incoherent, the gameplay is miserable, graphics look bad.. On the backend the situation is tragic, you can basically see the IPs of other players in plain text and the game speed is bound to the FPS (yes exactly, like they used to do in the 90s) and i could go on for days. If you buy this game without being an ignorant casual you deserve no respect.     This game is a cancerous, buggy mess. Physics are all client side and tethered to framerate. I learned early on, that if I look at the ground, I run significantly faster than my allies because I'm at a much higher framerate. We got caught and stuck in terrain several times. We were killed by invisible enemies. There is nothing redeeming in this crapshoot. I wish I could get my money back.

And another $59.99 to renew my PS4 Online pass, so I'm $180 in the hole for this abomination. Imagine leveling up in Fallout 4 and just spinning a wheel to see what perk you get next. Oh WOW i just looted an awesome weapon, too bad I have to be level 30 to equip it. I'll just save it for later but oh wait, my stash is already full cause I can't craft anything useful till I find some plans for a GD weapon that I already looted 400 times and broke down for parts! I guess I'll just go kill another 10,000 scorched that keep re-spawning in my face every ten seconds and hope one of them drops something useful. NOPE just another A-D block, that's f-ing useful if Shawn was still a kid not a senior citizen. Building your own camp is kinda cool, till the server resets and you lose everything you built and have to start over. Taking a settlement for resources is great, till you logout and lose your progress. Or you invest tons of resources into it and some massive mob attacks it while your trying to complete a timed quest and destroys everything and you can't rebuild cause I'm out of junk!

    This game should have never been released in this condition. It can't be fixed with patches that are bigger than the original version of the game. It is flawed from the ground up and needed years more of work to make it playable. Bethesda has lost all credibility and I will never give them another dime. How they thought they could fool hardcore gamers is beyond me.

    They haven't given 2 **** about updating their A.I. since Oblivion, and I pray to God if he is still somehow alive that they never release another title with this horrible system.

    Like seriously, the A.I. in offline mode Recruit difficulty has more competence than these A.I.

    They are milking this franchise till it dies, and I will be surprised if they don't just quit.

    Finally, for some reason, I fear to touch this game now.

    The Fallout New Vegas Multiplayer guy made a more effective mod that people would have probably actually payed money for, not whatever this is.

    I wish I could, but similar to escape from tarkov, I was only told the implications of what I was buying once I bought the game, and wasn't told how hard of a dicking I was recieving for pre ordering the game.

    Battlefield 2 looks like a passion project compared to what I was given with this.

    I will say **** You' for all of the people who had faith and didn't buy Red Dead Redemption 2 because they wanted to play the new Fallout.

    There was a time when Bethesda's name carried the same weight as Rockstar and Naughty Dog. As a bethesda fan I gave this game despite the bad comments a chance and played it at least 10 hours alone and further 20 hours with friends to make my own opinion. And i'm totally disappointed by bethesda, it was a waste of time to play Fallout 76. Never thought that I would say that about a Fallout game.

    also very little choice in the passage, in fact you can not play an evil character or good

    If I could return the Beta and game I would. I have hundreds of hours into Fallout games and I can't get past an hour before this game just sucks. You walk around, get killed, re-spawn, walk around, get killed, re-spawn.

    I think a blank screen would be better.

Graphics that look like a PS2 game coupled with clunky mechanics, both ofAs a fan of Fallout 3, 4, NV (and Morrowind, Oblivion & Skyrim), I had to at least give Bethesda the benefit of the doubt & so ignored the negativity & gave Fallout 76 a chance. Huge mistake; will never happen again. This game simply should not have, under any circumstances, been released in it's present state. Graphics that look like a PS2 game coupled with clunky mechanics, both of which are a result of a 10? 15? 20 year old engine probably held together by duct tape at this point & which must be retired. Some reviewers have reported framerate drops as low as 30 fps when areas get busy - 15 fps or less is more accurate. Server disconnects regularly. Lack of NPCs makes the game feel hollow & unfinished; quests are boring & repetitive. Listening to Holotapes non-stop wears thin very quickly. Enemy AI (if you can even call it that) is a joke - enemies either stand still while staring at you or they run straight at you. Occasionally some glitch & get trapped in a wall or the ground or a tree. As for running into other players, this has to be the only online multiplayer game where PVP & multiplayer aspects are virtually non-existent. Crossed paths with a couple other players who just threw an emote & ran by. One person offered stimpaks. And since there is nowhere near enough content or immersion to keep playing solo, the game quickly becomes a $60 scavenger hunt simulator. Bottom line is there is nothing redeeming about this game. It is most certainly not a AAA game & is not worth more than $10; there simply are no more excuses to be made for Bethesda releasing half-finished garbage like this. If this is seriously the best Bethesda can do in 2018 then, very sad to say, it may be time to either have some people step aside or just stop making games.… Expand

I can already do nothing in the real-world without spending money on a game to do more nothing in. I feel like I've completely wasted my money and I supremely regret pre-ordering this game.     The perk system does not have any influence on the character progression what so ever.
    Either you steamroll ghouls or you get onehitted by enemies that are 5 levels and more above your level. The environment is nice and kind of a fallout atmosphere sets in.     However you do not find any good loot at all or the loot you find does not have any effect on your progression as well.
    The events occurring on the map are completely random and you always have a hard time to compete with them. EIther a bazillion of ghouls rush for a machine and destroy it while you stand next to it and wont get any aggression from the mobs or a level 30 monster will spawn next to you and you instantly die - however you can just jump up a fence and kill the level 30 enemy from there because it will move next to you and stand there staring at you until it dies.
    After having collected a lot of scrap and building kind of a base I became frustrated as well by this mechanic, as you can only use a fraction of the available blueprints and would have to grind to unlock more. So my base was up and running and had a decent defense set up - due to blueprint restrictions - when it got overwhelmed by a bazillion of level 30 monsters destroying everything in the base. When I figured out all my resources gained from two days of grinding scrap were gone, because destroyed base items are gone for good, this was it for me.

It's certainly not enjoyable or has any replay value.

    There is a possibility that the game could become better with new content, NPCs that deliver a plot to this dead and barren sandbox. If they fix the bugs and add some balancing then it might also be good for PvE. This game engine can't do PvP. It's too old and too broken to jury rig in any way to make this an enjoyable PvP experience.

    And as for the price? It's an absolute insult charging fans $60 for a cut down version of Fallout 4. This is a dlc at best and the price should reflect it. So avoid wasting your money. If it appears as a $10 sale item then I might recommend it just for the Fallout lore. But I'm sure modders could actually add a lot of this into a overhaul mod for Fallout 4 given enough time.    … Expand

Textures don't render, and gigabytes upon gigabytes of patches don't even come close to scratching the surface of the problem.

    I generally have a policy against pre-ordering games, but Bethesda is a studio that's built up such reputation for me that I was willing to bypass it - but never again. This is a combination of laziness and greed. Laziness to build something so unfinished and release it - and greed for trying to rush it so much to capitalize on the Black Friday / Christmas holiday season.

    Someone said "Hey, we know the game isn't finished, but if we don't drop it now, we won't make money. We can deal with 60% of our content being disfunctional or completely broken.". That's the real slap in the face here.    … Expand

Prior Fallout games were fun because you did not have the ant hill mentality of multiplayer to get between you and the enjoyment of the game.     There are NO companions and this hurts because; I always enjoyed the Super Mutant Companions. Last thing I want in a game is to spend hours crafting a nice building or defense only to have some 8 year old ruin it all. Don't even get me started on the patch that is HUGE like 50 gigabytes, so forget it if you don't have high speed broadband.

    Mostly the Fallout 76 is boring, repetitive and uninspired. The story is lame and the lack of Human NPC's just makes the world feel empty. The NPC's used to add a layer of immersion to the story and quests that made things fun, consequential and worth doing. My review has no spoilers because, Fallout 76 is so bad there is literally nothing to spoil here. The problem with garbage is that it is already spoiled and Fallout 76 is just plain straight up garbage. Save your money on this mess it is not worth buying not even for $3.00 in the bargain bin!    … Expand

When walking backwards you walk into invisible walls yes i see that there was nothing stopping me when i turned around to see why i couldn't walk backwards. The main story quest is you following holo tapes that someone leaves behind and you don't feel like you are contributing to anything. The pvp is broken when you are up against 2 people with power armor and you got nothing and there is something you can do but let them kill you. The building is broken there are only a few spots to build and if someone builds at a workshop you can't move it or collect your stuff that got placed next to it. The hit detection of enemies is also broken. Just don't buy it and save your self the trouble or just watch people streaming it.… Expand

    So utterly disappointing and flawed in every possible way… The first few hours, most of it can be ignored, and occasionally the flaws can be forgotten, but only briefly before they come storming back to the forefront. An awful, boring, empty, pointless experience. There is, however, a glimmer of hope. It's worth mentioning that there has already been a Bethesda title that was equally as unimpressive: The Elder Scrolls Online - but looking at it now, it has transformed into one of the best MMOs out there. There's always the hope the Fallout 76 develops the same way and becomes something special, but for now, that seems impossible. It's a world away from that.

    Fallout 76 isn't your typical fallout experience. You don't have NPCs or dialogue, but instead get real players that should fill this void - that ultimately fails to do so. It does some things right, but as of now I cannot recommend getting this game as long as it stays a broken and boring mess that it is right now.

    Fallout 76 is the series’ Freshman introduction into the world of online, multiplayer games. As a result, we are experiencing all of the awkwardness and clumsiness associated with that season of life. It is imperfect and a bit uncomfortable, but I see opportunity for Fallout 76 to be more than it presently it - to be a truly great, rich Fallout experience.
