This DOOM is excelent, the guns, the demons, the level design, the movement, and the guns power are the combination of good FPS. The difficulty is excelent, is very hard and most exciting to play. The ejecution of knocks to finish the demon are good.

This seems so very unlike what I envisioned for the Doom franchise. It seems to copy from a lot of the modern shooters which have hand-holding features and other codswallop that Doom does not need. Enemies are woefully easy and dumb. Keep your $60 and wait for a better shooter.

Finally a new Doom that feels like a old school shooter. The campaign took me roughly 11 hours to beat. The campaign was a blast but to its point. The true magic takes place in the multiplayer. Its extremely fast pace and a bloody good time. A must buy if you are a fan of the series!

With a strong campaign, and plenty of replay value, DOOM is exactly what fans of the series were hoping for, whilst also being relevant for newcomers.

Also nice to have finally 60fps and 1080p on consoles in a top game. Also great to have a game without the needless story telling that has become standard in modern games. If you come up with a story with the quality of Witcher 3 than a story is worth telling. But most games and shooters dont get close to such a high level. So than skip the entire story telling. I dont want to watch the needless movies that only interrupt gameplay. I think Bethesda really did a great job here. Graphics are great. Gameplay is great. And I also liked the diffculty levels. I grew up as a PC gamer with keyboard and mouse. This was my first shooter with a controller. But the low difficult setting is perfect. Difficult enough to be challenging. But not so difficult that I want the mouse back. Perfect balance. Like any game DOOM des have negative points. But they are small. Forst of all the gameplay is sometimes interrupted by seeking way to long to enter new environments or find keys. Especially in a game like this that downgrades the gameplay. And the background music of the game could have been much better. The game could also have a more fear in it.. But the addictive fast shooting experience eliminates th negative aspects. Bethesda did a good job here. Better than I expected to be honest. Expand

An utterly brilliant homage to the old school FPS. This is quintessential Doom, updated for the modern times without forgetting what it is and where it came from. Kinetic, visceral, and impactful, DOOM delivers a delightful punch to the teeth to remind audiences what a shooter is supposed to be.

In DOOM, game-play comes 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. And by game-play I mean gun-play and by gun-play I mean HOLY HELL these are some fantastic weapons! Shooting is fast-paced and fun. Strafing, circling, closing in for for a melee kill, I found myself constantly staying on the move to avoid enemy fire and the game rewarding me for a clever and aggressive play-style. Nearly all weapons have two different upgrade paths that you can switch up on the fly and not a single one isn't satisfying to use. Ammo is plentiful but not plentiful enough that you won't be swapping out your weapons regularly, and the increasing variety of enemies that require different approaches and tactics means you can't get comfortable with just one or two guns to see you through the day. The games signature "glory kills" are fast and satisfying, requiring you to "stun" your enemies with well placed gun fire first before closing in to finish them off. Each glory kill you pull off rewards you with extra health, a great little risk/reward mechanic that keeps the pace of the fight up and never sees you retreating from an enemy in search of more health. The chainsaw and BFG are perfectly implemented as well, incredibly over-powered one-hit-kill weapons with very limited ammo meaning you'll need to carefully consider when to break them out but always incredibly rewarding when you do.

Each level in DOOM is expansive and labyrinthine, as any good DOOM level worth it's salt should be. This ain't no corridor shooter, and you are encouraged to explore each environment thoroughly to discover all of the hidden secrets and unlockables this game has to offer. Traversing the environments is fast and fluid. You move at a satisfying clip and incorporate a clamber and, later, a double jump to navigate the large, vertical spaces.

A point against DOOM could be it's rather weak and generic story. If you're looking for a world deep with lore then you might be satisfied by what is on offer through the collectible journal entries that flesh out the UAC and their Mars research facility, but the pretty intriguing idea of a corporation-turned-cult is barely explored. Arguably, focusing more on the story might have taken away from the game-play, which is DOOM's obvious first priority, but I did sometimes find myself wishing I had a bit more motivation than DEMONS: KILL.

Another definite negative is DOOM's multiplayer offering, which feels very tacked on and is entirely forgettable. All of the kinetic energy and adrenaline found in the single player game is absent here. This is where the description "mindless shooter" fits perfectly, where not even a respectable variety of game modes can keep it from feeling wholly shallow and lifeless. DOOM's multiplayer is a temporary distraction to be played once and then never picked up again.

But, despite these faults, in the end the game is just too much fun and I have so much praise for what it does do that it is hard to fault it for what it doesn't. DOOM is an incredibly refreshing return to form and has re-energized my enthusiasm for genre that has been, in my opinion, languishing for years, bereft of any originality and becoming stale and stagnant in the process. DOOM remembers that FPS's don't need to be a dreary slog nor do they need to take themselves seriously or rely on scripted set pieces to be incredible experiences. DOOM is a must buy for any shooter fan.

With all these reviews about the "frenetic gameplay", I'm wondering if they played the same game as I. There are *periods* of frenetic firefights, bursts of rapid run-and-gun killing, but then there's also long stretches of boring hallway walking with only a handful of enemies around. Exploration is a snoozefest and, outside of the BFG, most of the weapons are simply unremarkable. You WILL get tired of Glory Kills before you're done with the first chapter and yet, when playing on Ultra-Violent, constantly performing them is a necessity (for health and the like), thus devolving into a constant shoot-stun-glory kill routine over and over for the duration of the game. The campaign is painfully short; with finding about 70% of the collectibles, beating the game took only 10 hours, and far too much of that was spent looking at loading screens. Campaign is also lacking in spirit - looking back I can't really identify as single "holy s**t, did you see that?!" moments. Graphically the game is neither good nor bad. It, too, is average. I guess the best compliment I can give it is that it runs smooth most of the time with only the very rare frame drop during hectic sequences.

With little reason to replay the campaign, I turned to multiplayer. What I found there is a tacked on mess of a game that won't appeal to many over the long term. There's nothing in multiplayer to distinguish Doom from the myriad of other sci-fi shooters in the genre. It will likely keep some players for a week or so but they'll go back to their FPS's of choice very soon.

The shining gem of this reboot is Snapmap - the gory version of Super Mario Maker for Doomheads, if you will. This is what will ultimately give Doom any sort of longevity but the problem is waiting for a decent variety and amount of levels to become available through the community. Right now, being new, Snapmap is only good for those people who want to dabble around with level design.

The game is a solid rental but not worth the $60 price of ownership UNLESS you're hardcore into building levels through Snapmap. The best (and worst) of the campaign can be seen through a two day Redbox rental and multiplayer is best left to other games. I'd recommend waiting to buy it until it's cheaper and the community has had time to learn the Snapmap functions and create a decent amount of user based levels.

You can turn off almost all of the new mechanics so difficult ceiling is pretty high, there are two locked badass difficulties. From this fact comes a statement that DOOM has a high replayability. Tired of single player mode? Well, how about a old school quake-like multiplayer? No problem, dude. Not a huge fan of PvP. Then there is a "Snapmap". Were the community are to use map creating tool to make kick-ass maps of various kinds. From arenas and single player levels to PvP arenas between demons and persons and a 4-man **** raids.

The only thing that is bad about the game that i managed to find is unpretentious story. And for the person who played the **** out of first two games and enjoyed the third one it's, honestly, not a big **** deal.

I made an account on this site to submit this short review of the new Doom. I was so taken by it's sheer mediocrity, despite the gushing praise you can read from others here, that I just had to add my voice to the mix. Movement is fast and fluid, highly reminiscent of the original Doom. Graphics are acceptable for a current gen title, but certainly nothing on Uncharted 4. For me, however, and despite the modern spit and polish this is simply a game that doesn't need to exist. Gameplay wise it adds nothing that wasn't in the original Doom (apart from some annoying platforming mechanics). It even had the old Doom's same beats - see some juicy pickups? Expect to be swarmed soon thereafter. While the glory kills are interesting the first few times, they grow stale before too long. And the story of the campaign? Bland, uninteresting and with not a single character of note.

In short, a technically sound title that is bland, uninspiring and not worth a replay. I guess I'll be trading it tomorrow.

The level design is masterfully done, with tons of hidden secrets in every level, even some hidden old school gems. A lot of the levels have an arena-like look/feel, and when the music picks up it pumps your blood as you blast demons in the face with your double barrel shotgun.
The gameplay is fast, visceral, satisfyingly brutal, and very fun.
There was only a few times I wanted to pull my hair out due to a hard area or boss (yes, technically there is a boss every once in a while), however it made want to keep trying. There were sometimes I reloaded a checkpoint from dying and found some secrets I had missed along the way. You also have upgrades to your weapons and armor, as well as mods in the form of Runes. These all can adjust to your play style.
The SnapMap is a nice addition. You can create your own maps, add whatever kind of mode you want, or play some of the more popular maps done by players or the developers from ID.
The multiplayer is fun, reminds me of oldschool doom/Quake back in the day. However, my main draw point was the campaign and SnapMap, so I may be overlooking some things in Multiplayer.
The game runs very smooth. I had Motion blur off and FOV turned up all of the way, and never saw any screen tearing, slow-down, or crashes.
If you are looking for a good return to the oldschool fun formula of yesteryear, this is the game for you. If you love blasting demons in the face whilst jamming to an awesome soundtrack, this is also for you.
This is easily a must-buy for all Demon Slayers out there.

All in all its not a bad multiplayer, just pretty standard and forgettable. I certainly won't play it again. However, I must encourage you not to let that put you off. If you are looking for replay value, snapmap has you covered. The amount of depth snapmap has is insane, pretty much anything you want to make can be made in snapmap. There is already thousands of snapmap content provided by the community, and some of it blew my mind with how creative they were. I played 1 map called music maker (has coop support as well) and you can literally design a beat in a step sequencer on the floor, then play a keyboard along with it. I also had a good laugh when I seen the creator had taken a little extra time to add in the much requested cowbell. I played another map which was a funny take on whack a mole named "whack a soul". The name alone had me in hysterical laughter, but the game itself evolved my joyful laughter into painful laughter as I found myself at an arcade machine with flaming skulls moving left to right and shooting them with a shotgun. The whole thing lasted about 30 seconds and the map then triggered a victory since apparently I beat the high score. I bet heshe probably spent a lot longer than that designing it all just to provide 30 second s of laughter. Ahhhh, how I love the gaming community! Of course, there are more serious maps. For instance, a remake of doom 1 episode 1 first level of the classic! A few other examples are a Call Of Duty zombies style mode where you use points to buy weapons, health, powerups or open a door. A raid boss, playable in coop that actually scales to the amount of players in game. You have to see it to believe it, snapmap is the best feature of any video game I ever played. The dev have put the replayability of doom in the gamers hands and it is the best thing they could have done. Unfortunately, the tutorial is quite vague. It states the obvious but fails to teach the more complex features of snapmap. I honestly didn't learn much more than I could've figured out on my own. To learn complex stuff, I had to do a little bit of digging on google plus analysing some of the templates the game offers to learn certain things myself e.g setting amount of player lives lost before game over is triggered. I would've thought something like that would be simple to setup but I couldn't have been more wrong, had to tweak quite a bit of game logic to get it set up. I know I will hit many more creative walls in snapmap, thanks to not every feature being explained. I suggest waiting for a user to post a more in depth guide if you want to save yourself hours of frustration. Of course, a lot of things are easy in snapmap and the possibilities are huge. Overall, the campaign not bringing enough new features to the table and the standard multiplayer let doom down, but snapmap more than makes up for it. Without snapmap I would have given doom a 7 (Skippable, but a fairly decent blast from the past), but snapmap earns an extra point for both adding an immense amount of replay value and offering some of the best and easiest creation tools any game has ever had for consoles and pc. I couldn't justify giving doom anything lower than an 8. Expand

DOOM is back. As a love letter to the original series, it's perfect. Combat is fast and frenetic, with a heavily emphasis on mobility and item resourcefulness. There is no regenerating health and no hiding behind cover, but you have access to a full weapon wheel as compensation. It's all complemented by excellent level design which inspires a ton of exploration on the part of the player, and there's a lot to find in exploring (new weapons, upgrade tokens, and collectibles). On top of all of that, each level is accompanied by unique challenges and even time trials, with rewards for completing each. These rewards, along with most of the game's collectible secrets, go towards customizing the way you play (ex:// speeding up gameplay or providing you with more resources), and the way you upgrade your character actually matters; there are upsides and downsides to specializing along a certain path. What you end up with is a highly replayable campaign.
What really sets DOOM apart from other shooters on the market is this: it's all about the shooting. The atmosphere is stellar, but never becomes intrusive thanks to a lack of the in-your-face, dramatic bravado that plagues the majority of modern shooters. The story is good for what it is, and what it should be - it provides an interesting enough justification for the chaos (just don't expect the narrative complexity of, say, The Last of Us). Ultimately, the game's tone is incredibly consistent. It wants you to have fun and revel in the ultraviolence, and that's what the original DOOM wanted for us back in 1993. Whether you're new to the series or a veteran like myself, the game has a ton to offer.

The multi-player is equally great. Hardcore COD fans beware though; this an arena shooter (as opposed to popcorn shooters, one hit kills) but those of us who remember/ enjoyed arena shooters of back in the day (eg: Unreal Tournament and Quake) then you'll have an absolute blast! As someone who played the Beta - the first round or two really didn't sell me but after a few more matches I was hooked - something about the speed mixed with the varied mechanics: shield pick ups, becoming a demon, the original guns ect. - all just came together to form a shooter that's just simple, uncomplicated fun. There's not a lot of gun modifications, different attachments, unlockables ect. (eg. COD/Battlefield) but sometimes there doesn't have to be. Which is ultimately why this shines - it's simple, fast and fun - straight up. Just like the games which gamers have come to know, love and hold dear in our hearts from the 90's. And that's exactly what this Doom gives you.

So, what are you waiting for?! Grab this, NOW! Suit up, shot gun in hand and have a blast! (pun intended)

Every single one of the reviews here which gave less than a 7 or 8, I would bet money are from people who never played the original two Doom games, or are just fanboys of something. The game is solid, the campaign is old school on purpose,(and yeah repetitive) but it's fun as hell, fast paced, and very refreshing. It's full of pure demon killing goodness, not much story, or boring cut scenes, just good old great GAME PLAY. I am having the most fun though with the multiplayer. DOOM muliplayer. is something I am really enjoying in the same way I enjoyed Quake 3 back in the day. .The pace is perfect, levels are well designed, armor and health pickups everywhere just like oldschool times, and it just feels FUN to play, not frustrating like battlefield or Call of Duty, just FUN! ... I understand the criticism that this game may be "too much" like the old school fps genre, and I think SOME modern improvements to certain things would have helped, but would have been hard to do without screwing up the whole "oldschool" feel. The people giving this game a 0 just to bring down the score need to be stopped. For that reason I will give it a 10, but in all honesty, I think it's a solid 8 Expand

Great graphics, Great gameplay, blood, guns, demons, no story. It is a Doom game. If you are looking for anything else you will be disappointed. Everything is updated for modern times but the original formula is there. Have not tried multiplayer yet, but if it is any good it will be icing on the cake. If you are playing s game for multiplayer try call of duty.

Playing this latest game is absolutely nostalgic for me, but not in just wanting it to be a fantastic game, but rather how stellar it turned out to be. The music is incredibly bass-y, shakes my entire room, and pulls me right in. The combat is very arena style: you go into a new area, there's a handful of resident enemies in there that are typically fairly simple to clear out. Then you trigger the waves upon waves of enemies and this will make you go from weapon to weapon to weapon, picking what makes sense for that second before swapping again. This is not a game to creep about like Doom 3 was, you will be punished harshly for doing so as your HP and ammo comes primarily from "glory kills" which require you to quickly get in melee range and perform a killing blow. The bigger the enemy, the less time is given making it risky sometimes.

All the classic enemies and weapons are back (not sure if any of the bosses are exceptions to that yet), and much of the old mechanics have been brought along too (looking at you keycards... my god you hide well sometimes) and they dropped all the things from Doom 3 that people despised: no flashlight, no oxygen meter, no jump scares, no more small scale fights. I personally enjoyed Doom 3 a great deal when it first released, but it was not what I could consider to be the Doom franchise should be.

The amazing thing is how well it runs. I am able to run 80FPS at 1440p on a single (though highly OC'd and watercooled) GTX 980 and it just begs for more.

Doom doesn't waste time by trying to explain why you're doing what you're doing I was blasting demons within minutes. It's gun play is addicting, satisfying and fantastic. Probably the best shooters I have played...ever and I am a big FPS fan.

I missed out on doom 3 but I have played it here and there and I can tell why some did not like it. I did enjoy what I played though but this game is way different. It's pretty much a middle finger to doom 3. It's gory and glorious. Sometimes you just want to plop down and shoot stuff and this is the best way to do so.

I recommend playing with headphones and in the dark. I have a smart LED light and I been playing with the light in a red color which just adds to the atmosphere.

Pick this game up if you're a fan of the FPS genre and remember paying FPS games before confusing stories and cut scenes. The best thing about this is it does let you explore and you should. The gameplay is so fast that it's hard to step back and appreciate the work Id did on this but I encourage it.

MP is fun and fast. Nothing too spectacular here but it's fun. I really bought it for the campaign.

Graphics and sound are top notch. The main multiplayer is it's weakest component but it's better than the beta. SnapMap is already impressive. Overall solid package.

Roughly 4-5 hours of campaign n the rest I have been digging into multi and snap mode. as for the campaign mode the game is generally a re-imagined version of old dooms. There are not any horror aspects into it, no dark rooms, no flash lights whatsoever and generally there is no trace of doom 3 visible in solo experience. This can be a good thing or a bad thing based on your own preferences. The single player mode is basically within the idea of kill and proceed. It starts very slow in early levels and it goes beyond your expectations in terms of its speed and pace in future levels. the action is awesome and you can feel the survival in it. The glory kills are nice addition to the game as well and they are totally optional. The additional violence in comparison to doom 3 is a welcome feature which adds more excitement and breath taking moments . Each level has a good area design in terms of depth and size and it is designed in a way that you can hover around and battle with demons based on your strategies. Fortunately loading are short enough and check points and reasonable as well. There are explorations involved in the levels as well if you interested to go after secrets and collectibles. Another nice addition is guns and the variety of upgrades available for them as well as you suit. The upgrade tokens can be earned through given challenged in each level which is a very nice addition to the game-play and you can feel how powerful you slowly become through out the campaign mode. as for always demon designs and boss fights are amazing as they have always been. In terms of visual, PS4 version has a smooth 60fps performance, visuals are good but they are not anything beyond "good" . based on the level of difficulty the single player can take anywhere from 8 to 13 hours.
The second part is multiplayer. Perhaps its the biggest let down because it has no addition and innovation in comparison to other games. HAving demon mode its a nice addition to overall pace of the game but its nothing spectacular. modes are pretty standards, map are OK and enough, tones of untouchables as well. at this stage provided that it might become boring after a while i am not sure going for season pass is a good idea !
Next stop is snapmode which i believe many have been waiting for. sadly it comes wit so much disappointment and lack of variety in it. one thing is that you can make hell levels which is a huge disappointment. but there is actually enough depth within its limits in order to build things and download them from the share hub (does not requires ps plus unless u wanna connect and coop or share your maps) and extend your solo experience. But obviously we have 2 wait for more than 1-2 week to see true potential of the snap mode based on user created maps.
Overall i can say DOOM package worth your money if you are into a complete action packed game. But if you have been waiting a true sequel to doom 3 then i suggest perhaps wait a bit for game to become cheap enough !

Incredible. It's fast, it's fun. It's the first FPS in years that I've sunken more than 3 hours into single player and I'm loving every second. The secrets, the guns, the runes. It has everything going to keep it fresh. I've found myself scouring every nook and cranny to find everything that is hidden...and STILL missing some!

The multiplayer is great, and has a great draw to it. I love the feel of it. I've been missing an "arena style" shooter and this quasi-arena approach is fresh and approachable in today's day and age.

Snap Map LOOKS awesome, but I honestly haven't been able to hop in to that yet. I'm curious as to what people will come up with.

The only thing I'm hesitant about (that isn't in the purchase of the stand alone game, so I won't dock points) is the DLC. $40 for 3 MP expansions seems pretty steep. I'm holding on to the code that I purchased just in case I find it to not be worth it.

But for what it's worth, I created this account to post my first review because of how much I love this game and how much I'd dislike for haters to just tank the score with their 0's.

Bethesda and id stayed true to the nature of the past DOOM's with the chaotic and adrenaline pumping action. This game has a huge replay value. I will be putting many more hours into this game.

The multiplayer is not the greatest. It is very comparable to halo in the mechanics of movement and shooting. There are some unique aspects brought in with the hack mods that give you an edge at times. It is fun to play but it isn't hard to tell that the main reason to play this game is the campaign. I usually play multiplayer or snap map when I want to take a break from the campaign.

Snap map is fantastic. I would compare this to halo's forge, though this is much more universal and user friendly. There are MANY different game modes, not all include combat. Some are puzzles, music makers, parkour, races. There are also the co-op matchmaking survival maps. This part of the game has some serious potential.

If you enjoy intense, chaotic, adrenaline pumping games with gore and some SERIOUSLY BAD ASS melee kills, you will love this game. Do yourself a favor and buy it.

It's Serious Doom, and that's not a bad thing. It's similar to Serious Sam 3 in a lot of ways, including the melee system and how alt fire works on the weapons. Once an area is cleared, you stock up on health and ammo and move on to the next.

It's not quite the same, melee is the primary means of healing as it results in health drops. You do need to shoot most enemies to weaken them before you can do this. Traversal is also a bigger element here than it is in Sam.

It also takes elements of Brutal Doom and mixes them into the formula. It's quite gory and the kills are quite a spectacle.

The result is a fast and fun old school style shooter with Doom 3 style visuals that are newer and shinier. Single player alone is well worth the price of admission.

Plus there's a Little Big Planet style map editor system called Snap Map that will give plenty of replay once you tire of the campaign. Users can create both single and multiplayer maps, so regardless of your preference you'll have tons to do after you've escaped Hell in the campaign.

Haven't messed with the MP, but I've heard it's similar to Quake and UT. I'm not a MP guy and don't care much, the rest of the game is more than enough to satisfy me.

Doom is grand and doesn't try to reinvent the wheel. After Doom 3 fans asked for a throwback to classic FPS gameplay, and ID delivered exactly that.

My original guess was that it was going to pander to console players by making it slower ( I thought this after I saw the scroll wheel that slowed down game play.) It has been a long while since I have seen a shooter with intelligent map design, design which rewards players for playing the game at a faster pace, in fact I rarely found myself stopping in between combat, if at all. There is secrets galore in this game to. Not only that but the game itself is absolutely beautiful. From the large bosses to the small imps for pistol fodder every part of the game does not lack in design, This game reinvigorated my faith in ID. The online has obviously improved since the beta (Its great, i didn't get the chance to play the beta but I heard complaints) With a larger selections of weapons. In fact I see so many modding possibilities for the multiplayer on PC. After playing leagues and leagues of modern shooters this is the most refreshing multiplayer I have played in a while and will suck in hours and hours of my time I haven't really played around with snap map yet, but Ill be looking forward to it!. Anyway this reinvigorated the franchise and will forever be known as a classic, Amazing job id, i look forward for more Expand

This game is fantastic on every level. Score highly on every front. what stands out is gameplay, sound & music, graphics, presentation.
The secrets are neat, like original doom secrets. The multiplayer is expansive, and snapmap is one of the best level editors for console.

The game is damn fun. And immersive. Doom (2016) makes doom 3 look really quite poor.

I'll admit I was excited for this release for sometime and actually preordered well in advance. Then as time went on and negative reviews were pouring out from the beta review's and hands on copies, I was more then a little nervous and almost considered canceling my preorder. Well I'm glad I didn't as this is "Classic Doom" with all the bells and whistles that we are now accustomed to and even more. The graphics are amazing and the gameplay is extremely fast and it runs without a hitch on the PS4. The guns are powerful and sound amazing, all the classics are present and a bunch of new ones to boot with mixed results but mostly satisfying. The monsters and demons look great and have allot of detail; they are usually easy fodder but can sneak up on you and in some instances will provide a challenge with above average AI. Of course there are still traps present like in previous renditions and lots of Easter eggs to find. You will also find upgrades lying around throughout the map for your armor and guns. Speaking of the map that is one area that is lacking to say the least, It isn't the most user friendly and the blue and gray coloring can be hard to read. So honestly the only thing in the game that will slow you down is the map, I spent almost 2 minutes the first time I tried to figure out where I was trying to get to. I'm not going to speak on the multiplayer experience as I haven't gotten to it yet but honestly the main attraction here is the Campaign and always has been with Doom. So if you have been waiting to sink your teeth into another great Doom this is the one for you as ID has knocked this one out of the park. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wow, just wow! DOOM is by far the best game I've ever played. The graphics are stunning! The effects are out of this world! And thank God, the story is of secondary importance, and that's how it should be. After all, we are talking about DOOM and not an interactive movie (how many games are built nowadays). DOOM has been built with a lot of passion and it shows from the very first second. The soundtrack is awesome! A mix of rock, metal and industrial sounds. Pure perfection. Really hard and dark. There is no other soundtrack that would fit better. So many details and thoughtful secrets. 100% replay value! I for one would like to find all the "secret areas", because this is another reason why I find DOOM great. These "secret areas" are from the very first DOOM levels of 1993 (including original textures). Pure nostalgia! Just what you need before you pop back into the DOOM of 2016 and give 'em demons hell! DOOM has a slight struggle to find it's own identity. The story delivers exactly what you would expect from an arcade experience. On the other side, DOOM lacks a lot of well beloved features from it's predecessors and has some quickly appearing wear marks of it's own. However, the technical aspect performs well on PC and Consoles and the Multiplayer is fun, but requires some balancing updates.

Personally not a fan of the multiplayer portion, though many will enjoy it... The game is worth getting for the single player alone... reminds me of Painkiller in its speed and brutality.

The new Doom has a lot of legacy to live up to. My two first hours of the game were checking if everything was in place.
The gameplay feels amazing, it the old 90's power trip were you get to discharge all of your adrenaline by shooting monsters with awesome weapons. There are plenty of secrets and Easter eggs and massive maps to explore. The graphics are breathtaking, and immersive.

Fantastic, a masterpiece. This is EXACTLY what people had been crying out for. It goes back to the roots of Doom 1 and 2, and leaves the Doom 3 scary stuff at the door (for the most part).

Visually it's the best thing I've seen on my PS4, and gameplay wise it's a whole load of fun. It's EXTREMELY fast paced - much more so than the initial videos had led on, it's actually really difficult too - I'm playing on the medium difficulty level and I'm getting my ass handed to me regularly. I often find myself and 1-5 health and then have to find some health or complete a glory kill to stay in the game.

On the subject of glory kills, I have no issue with them what-so-ever. Despite the fact you can turn them off, I enjoy the fact they bring a seconds breather to the insane action that is going on around me. This is 2016 - games need to evolve and Doom is doing it brilliantly.

The gameplay is a mix of exploration (quite linear but a tonne of secrets), corridors / large open spaces you need to traverse parkour style, and then big epic arenas which really test what you're made of. It's exactly what I wanted and finds a perfect mix of arena action and normal FPS - people complaining clearly can never be pleased in my opinion.

The single player is well paced, the weapons are insane, as are the audio and visuals. And then, after all of that, you also have a real fun arena style multiplayer. People who didn't like the multiplayer clearly had the wrong idea of what Doom multiplayer should be. Awwww you don't regenerate? Poor COD fanboy! Remember, collect health and collect Armour - that's how you survive!

I have had a play with Snapmap too - it seems super powerful. You can build offline if you want to, and the tutorials are well thought out and a good way to get into what appears to be complex level creation. It's early days for Snapchat - I'm sure they'll be adding more content in the weeks to come. I for one would love to see the ability to create "open" environments set in Hell and Mars - I suspect this will come but at the moment you can't. The logic system however is pretty powerful and you can basically customize LOADS. It's going to take me weeks to get properly to grips with the tool - but I'm excited to see what the community creates.

I really would ignore the haters, those voting 0/1 and claiming it's "Not fast enough". They clearly don't have the game. It's epic fast! Top stuff. I'd be surprised if the critic review score didn't average at over 9.
