If you like a more-than-decent shooter and lots of blood splatters on your television screen, DOOM remains a force to be reckoned with. I just wish the game was a little more fun to play.

As graceful a marriage of old school action and modern sensibilities as you could probably hope for, despite the so-so multiplayer and repetitive setting.

Doom feels stuck out of time, a gorgeous, gruesome beauty, but only inches removed from shooter conventions 15 years past their prime.

People will be talking about the first two Doom games for decades more – those two games may well be remembered as true classics of the gaming medium a century down the track. This Doom won’t. This new Doom is terrible...Like the greedy organisation that unleashes hell on Mars, this is the product of exploitation; the developers at ID Software and Bethesda are playing with fire in treating a property as valuable as Doom this way.

Any game that demands to be measured against one of the medium’s towering accomplishments and comes out ahead in many aspects has to be admired for its huge guts. The fact that this game also has the honor of doing the Doom name proud is just the gory icing on this exquisitely violent cake.

The original Doom transcended videogame to become cultural icon, the inspiration for a hundred imitations, ports on virtually every digital medium imaginable including airplanes, and even a terrible movie starring The Rock. The new Doom succeeds by taking that legacy seriously, rendering it as a religion of sorts: the cult of Doom Guy writ through generations. To play is to enact a mass-media ritual, to go where a million other players have gone before you and will go again...The legions of hell should be quaking in their boots: Doom has been reborn.

It is a Doom game. If you are looking for anything else you will be disappointed. Everything is updated for modern times but the original formula is there. Have not tried multiplayer yet, but if it is any good it will be icing on the cake. If you are playing s game for multiplayer try call of duty. Full Review »

We have waited way to long for having a game like this again . Just shooting up monsters in hell and futuristic environments. No needless story telling. No needless complexity. Just fast addictive gameplay. Also nice to have finally 60fps and 1080p on consoles in a top game. Also great to have a game without the needless story telling that has become standard in modern games. If you come up with a story with the quality of Witcher 3 than a story is worth telling. But most games and shooters dont get close to such a high level. So than skip the entire story telling. I dont want to watch the needless movies that only interrupt gameplay. I think Bethesda really did a great job here. Graphics are great. Gameplay is great. And I also liked the diffculty levels. I grew up as a PC gamer with keyboard and mouse. This was my first shooter with a controller. But the low difficult setting is perfect. Difficult enough to be challenging. But not so difficult that I want the mouse back. Perfect balance. Like any game DOOM des have negative points. But they are small. Forst of all the gameplay is sometimes interrupted by seeking way to long to enter new environments or find keys. Especially in a game like this that downgrades the gameplay. And the background music of the game could have been much better. The game could also have a more fear in it.. But the addictive fast shooting experience eliminates th negative aspects. Bethesda did a good job here. Better than I expected to be honest. Full Review »

But for me Doom did same thing to PFS as Dark Souls did to action RPGs. (In a possitive way). It is not afraid to be very challenging. At the same time is fair all the time and gives you oportunity to avoid every enemy attack.it gives you very well ballanced tools that you need to use wiselly (chainsaw, bfg, powerups, glory kills). Every death (even on harder difficulties is you mistake). And the thrill and feeling when you finish difficult fight is same as when you beat DS Boss. Full Review »
