    I am 36 and gamed for 32 years. Gaming crazy before gaming was cool. This was the first game i finished for the ps1 and never forgot hitting a bastard with the shotgun for the first time. A memory holds dear. This is Doom people.._no mistake. Idk how many young folks on here are like ._.Ok._.Just a fast shooter._.Wah wah wah._ to hell with their opinions. Pun? No. I want Doom._.     This game is fantastic on every level. Score highly on every front. what stands out is gameplay, sound & music, graphics, presentation.
    The secrets are neat, like original doom secrets. The multiplayer is expansive, and snapmap is one of the best level editors for console.

    The game is damn fun. And immersive. Doom (2016) makes doom 3 look really quite poor.

    Doom is excellent. Im not gonna lie here, my initial expectations were low, I expected a slow pace modern wannabe shooter consistent with the quality of games ID put up recently. I was blown away, I am a massive fan of the series and saw that this doom was everything I wanted. It is fast-paced, gore filled fun that only doom can deliver. My original guess was that it was going to pander to console players by making it slower ( I thought this after I saw the scroll wheel that slowed down game play.) It has been a long while since I have seen a shooter with intelligent map design, design which rewards players for playing the game at a faster pace, in fact I rarely found myself stopping in between combat, if at all. There is secrets galore in this game to. Not only that but the game itself is absolutely beautiful. From the large bosses to the small imps for pistol fodder every part of the game does not lack in design, This game reinvigorated my faith in ID. The online has obviously improved since the beta (Its great, i didn't get the chance to play the beta but I heard complaints) With a larger selections of weapons. In fact I see so many modding possibilities for the multiplayer on PC. After playing leagues and leagues of modern shooters this is the most refreshing multiplayer I have played in a while and will suck in hours and hours of my time I haven't really played around with snap map yet, but Ill be looking forward to it!.     I really loved the campaign so far, its fast furious makes me feel in control and makes me think about exploration much like the original doom did when I played it as a kid, Now snapmaps is awesome to play about and make your own stuff much easier than previous moddings

    If you liked the original Doom, you are in for a special treat! The game reminds me of old school "run n gun" shooters, which is a rarity nowadays. SP campaign is epic so far, and multiplaye ris fun

    few hours in and wanting a lot more, it is great. full of content and longevity. It has multiplayer a campaign and creature your own map. Overall it is great

    None of the trailers gave this game justice. Damn is it fun! Is it like old doom? In some ways yes, in some other, no but I like it for what it is. Best 60 dollars I spent since the launch of the new consoles. Even considering buying a copy for my best friend Jacob.

    Game is amazing so far! It feels like Doom meets Metroid Prime. I enjoy the fast game play and how you can jump and climb things which is convenient for escapes.

The glory kill system is great fun and adds another dimension to the old FPS formula. I can see this emulated in every FPS going forward. The atmosphere and graphics are second to none. The gameplay is fast and visceral.     I am extremely impressed with Doom 4. Fast-paced demon blasting action with heavy metal in the background. The Snapmap feature also looks extremely promising. Id, you nailed it!

    The king of FPS is definitely back. Easily the best FPS I have played for years. Fast, challenging, brutal, awesome music, great level design, and a lengthy campaign. I cannot express how much I recommend DOOM, I feel like I'm back in the 90's again which is **** awesome!

    A true callback to all the fantastic elements that 90's era FPS games offered. The single player campaign is near flawless and retains the sense of speed and discovery of the originals. The multiplayer is deep and exciting, giving the same rush of great arena shooters of old. Excellent and exceeding in every facet, and an experience worth the price of admission.

    The only thing I'm hesitant about (that isn't in the purchase of the stand alone game, so I won't dock points) is the DLC. $40 for 3 MP expansions seems pretty steep. I'm holding on to the code that I purchased just in case I find it to not be worth it.

    But for what it's worth, I created this account to post my first review because of how much I love this game and how much I'd dislike for haters to just tank the score with their 0's.    … Expand

    I bought this for PC, but I will review the ps4 version too just to not let the fanboys voting zeros sway ps4 gamers into not trying it. (although I don't know how well the ps4 controller will hold up in this game). DOOM muliplayer. is something I am really enjoying in the same way I enjoyed Quake 3 back in the day. .The pace is perfect, levels are well designed, armor and health pickups everywhere just like oldschool times, and it just feels FUN to play, not frustrating like battlefield or Call of Duty, just FUN! ... I understand the criticism that this game may be "too much" like the old school fps genre, and I think SOME modern improvements to certain things would have helped, but would have been hard to do without screwing up the whole "oldschool" feel.The people giving this game a 0 just to bring down the score need to be stopped.     Doom is a great arcade style first person shooter great mechanics and ui. It plays like any other modern first person shooter. The take downs are a little over used but they are actually useful.

    The gameplay is fast, visceral, satisfyingly brutal, and very fun.
    There was only a few times I wanted to pull my hair out due to a hard area or boss (yes, technically there is a boss every once in a while), however it made want to keep trying. There were sometimes I reloaded a checkpoint from dying and found some secrets I had missed along the way. You also have upgrades to your weapons and armor, as well as mods in the form of Runes. These all can adjust to your play style.
    The SnapMap is a nice addition. You can create your own maps, add whatever kind of mode you want, or play some of the more popular maps done by players or the developers from ID.
    The multiplayer is fun, reminds me of oldschool doom/Quake back in the day. However, my main draw point was the campaign and SnapMap, so I may be overlooking some things in Multiplayer.
    The game runs very smooth. I had Motion blur off and FOV turned up all of the way, and never saw any screen tearing, slow-down, or crashes.
    If you are looking for a good return to the oldschool fun formula of yesteryear, this is the game for you. If you love blasting demons in the face whilst jamming to an awesome soundtrack, this is also for you.
    This is easily a must-buy for all Demon Slayers out there.    … Expand

From the beginning you are exposed to the true, fast paced, gory, over-the-top DOOM experience. Hordes of enemies? Checked. Badass weapons? Checked. Huge **** map? Checked. Tons of useful secrets?     You can turn off almost all of the new mechanics so difficult ceiling is pretty high, there are two locked badass difficulties. From this fact comes a statement that DOOM has a high replayability. Tired of single player mode? Well, how about a old school quake-like multiplayer? No problem, dude. Not a huge fan of PvP. Then there is a "Snapmap". Were the community are to use map creating tool to make kick-ass maps of various kinds. From arenas and single player levels to PvP arenas between demons and persons and a 4-man **** raids.

    The only thing that is bad about the game that i managed to find is unpretentious story. And for the person who played the **** out of first two games and enjoyed the third one it's, honestly, not a big **** deal.

    This DOOM is excelent, the guns, the demons, the level design, the movement, and the guns power are the combination of good FPS. The difficulty is excelent, is very hard and most exciting to play. The ejecution of knocks to finish the demon are good.

    What a refreshing shooter. It brings the classic map styles from the 90's shooter games to life through an immersive progression system and secret finding that is finally worth the search. The Multiplayer is extremely simple, but that's a great change from overly complex multiplayers. If you want a Story mode like Doom 1 and 2 mixed in with a Multiplayer similar to the likes of CounterWhat a refreshing shooter.     Got my early copy of the game , i started playing doom at approx. 1 am , and ended up playing this AMAZING piece of art and IMHO the best FPS game till 7 in the mornin' , it felt good playing a REAL fps game in a long time , WAYY better than any of the COD b****crap. Highly recommending this game to anyone who likes to play some hardcore fps ... you'll not be disappointed :)

It still has all the classic guns, intense action and secrets that you're used to, but it also has some updating items as well (weapon/suit upgrades, etc.). The game is incredibly intense and just as gory as you would expect a new age Doom game to be.

    If you're looking for a Call of Duty type    The single player campaign is amazing. I believe it is the perfect mix between old and new. It still has all the classic guns, intense action and secrets that you're used to, but it also has some updating items as well (weapon/suit upgrades, etc.). The game is incredibly intense and just as gory as you would expect a new age Doom game to be.

    If you're looking for a Call of Duty type game, this is not it. Especially when it comes to the less amazing multiplayer. Snapmap is also surprisingly easy to get into. Whether you want to make a map or play someone else's, this mode provides a lot of additional content.

    This is the best FPS I have ever played in my life. I'm new to this franchise and have been mostly playing COD and HALO. I saw all the videos for this game and it got me really excited because my dad has played the originals. This game has it all, incredible graphics, gameplay, art style, level design...everything. I play it on Ultra Violence and watching my dad play it on Nightmare isThis is the best FPS I have ever played in my life. I'm new to this franchise and have been mostly playing COD and HALO. I saw all the videos for this game and it got me really excited because my dad has played the originals. This game has it all, incredible graphics, gameplay, art style, level design...everything.     The new Doom is one of the best fps I have played in a while, the additional multiplayer makes you enjoy the game even more giving you the possibility to play online and with your friends. Even though the multiplayer might have some balance issues, (for example the overpowered demon pickups) it still delivers a great multiplayer experience. It is one of those games where you can come home, play it and just relax and have fun. It has no story, but this is because developers didnt want to take away all the attention from the super fun gameplay.Beware gamers, if you are serching for a game like Doom 3 THIS ISN´T THAT GAME. This game oozes style and attitude and it is undoubtedly the best single player first person shooter experience I have had on the next gen consoles to date. But I have to be honest, I have not touched the multiplayer portion of this game and based on what I have read it is not the reason to purchase this title. It certainly was not for me so that is why I am focusing on the campaign only. And what a campaign it is! Firstly the graphics. Wow . I am playing on the PS4 on a Sony 4K TV and this game is jaw dropping. The textures, lighting and particle effects are all some of the best I have seen this generation. The game runs in full 1080p( though my television does upscale the image to 4K) at a consistent 60 frames per second which is an unbelievable feat considering the graphical fidelity on display here. For anyone familiar with this series and arena style shooters in general, the decision to provide a consistent 60 frames is highly appreciated. The art design is also top notch. The weapon models are exceptional as are the environments which range from space station corridors, sprawling areas on the surface of Mars with lots of verticality as well as dreadfully beautiful locales in the depths of Hell. The game’s aesthetic is reminiscent of old heavy metal album covers and it is all very very cool. The creature designs are also fantastic. There is a large variety from small grunt like demons who pepper you from a distance with hellfire balls to enormous demons with surgically attached machine gun arms. Very heavy metal indeed! The enemy AI is good. Foes are very aggressive and keep you on your toes. The game is fairly challenging at medium difficulty and downright Dark Soulsesque at the higher difficulty settings. The sound design does not take a backseat to the visuals. The game is powered by a driving heavy metal soundtrack which increases in intensity as the on screen action ramps up. Guns sound great and all of the ambient noises are top notch as well. Most importantly the gameplay delivers on every level. This is Doom. The speed of the game is the biggest factor here and it immediately sets Doom apart from any other shooter on the market. This game is fast. But the buttery smooth controls ensure that you have control over that speed at all times. This game is all about movement. Tactical concepts such as taking cover, regenerating your health, and picking your enemies off one by one will get you killed in Doom. Constant movement, good aim and an itchy trigger finger are your only methods of survival on Mars and in Hell. Movement is always a joy however, thanks to fantastic controls and a climbing system designed to navigate the environment with ease. Doom also introduces a Glory Kill system which consists of staggering an enemy with gunfire and then getting in close for a brutal melee kill. Since Doom sticks to its old school roots it does not feature regenerating health. Instead Glory Kills provide you with a small health burst for every enemy taken down in that fashion and it adds a great tactical aspect to the shooting formula and I found it to be a relatively small but very welcome addition. But this is Doom as you remember it and also what you imagined it would be like in 2016. In terms of story its completely serviceable. The gates of hell are accidentally opened on a remote research facility on the surface of Mars and it’s up to Doomguy to put his jet powered space marine boot up Satan’s behind. War and Peace this is not but if anyone wanted a super intricate story line complete with branching story paths and dialogue options simply does not understand what Doom is all about. You are here to kill demons and kill demons you do. In glorious fashion! Doom also includes a very user friendly SnapMap feature which allows users to create a variety of multiplayer, single player and co-op content which adds a lot of value and replayability since there is always something new to play. This game is an absolute blast. It is highly polished, infectiously addictive and I cannot put it down. I know many review sites have really knocked down the score because the multiplayer is not great but if you are interested in Doom for all of the right reasons I would highly recommend this title.… Expand

Incredible graphics, awesome gameplay (I think I spent 3 hours on one heart), and have built two maps with BFG traps, warps, etc; snapmap is a powerful tool, easy to learn, hard to master. (you like Boolean?) They've said in a video that they want to give the modders all the tools they need, so this is actually a pending score of 11.     From the moment the game starts you are up to your eyes with undead and demons alike. Near the story of my journey I found myself wondering whether this constant flow over enemies attempting to wash over me would get tiresome. It didn't. It got more entertaining, more intense, and, in some cases, more hilarious.

    Visually the game looks fantastic; from the lighting and environment effects, to the general feel of the environments you're in.

    The sound effects are brilliant, thought I concede my least favourite is when I'm too caught up n the action and a noise sounds to alert me to my dangerously low health.

    Gameplay-wise, it just feels like someone has taken my beloved childhood game and brought up to the visual standards of 2016, with a few querky extras along the way.

    It has to be, hands down, one of the best FPS games I have played in a long time.

    Every weapon is perfectly balanced in terms of output, making your choice of weapon more situational than simply because it's overpowered. The exception being the BFG, ofcourse.

    The story is subtle. I fully understand what's going on at all times, and I'm interested to learn more as the game progresses, but it does not force you to watch cut-scene upon cut-scene.

    The multiplayer is an intense assortment of game modes, most of which you'll have experienced in other multiplayer online games. The balancing of the guns translates to the multiplayer, meaning every gun has its own pros and cons, without there being one clear winner. Though you can never go wrong with shotgun.

    Doom's interesting spin on your tactical throwing items is incredibly fun to play around with. We still have the classic Frag grenade, but you can also enjoy a personal teleporter, tesla greande, siphon grenade, energy shield wall, and more!

    There is nothing funnier than throwing your personal teleporter over an enemy combatants head, as you face them in head to head combat, only to appear behind them and unload a double barrel into their spine.

    Oh, and did i mention Demons? A demon buff will spawn every pre-fixed amount of time throughout a round and the first person to read said buff becomes the demon they have selected for their current loadout. If you're fortunate/quicker enough to become the demon try to avoid being killed, if the enemy kills you before the buff expires naturally they can pick it up and then terrorise you for a short period.

    So in summary; Doom has far exceed any initial expectations I had for the game. I bought it without any real conviction but it has kept me enticed since I started playing. If, like me, you're tired of the same COD-style shooters that we seem to be inundated with, get Doom. It's not all that often I enjoy both multiplayer and campaign.

    Wow just wow! Being old enough to remember seeing doom for the first time when my parents took me to a computer show at some hotel conference room long ago and just being amazed. DOOM 2016 is a big thank you to Id for bringing something that amazed long ago back. Been gaming for a very long time and imo doom is a 10!

    - Fast, furious and fully satisfying combat. Challenging (playing on hard) while still making the player feel empowered. Watching enemies explode like blood squirting ammo and health pinatas is endlessly fun
    - Graphically and artistically excellent. This is the first game in ages I actually cherished unlocking the enemy models - everything in this game, from the weapons to the demons to environments themselves, look incredible
    - Pulse pounding music. From the opening menu to the end of the game, I was constantly bobbing my head along to the awesome soundtrack. Getting to hear the end-level music was one of the most satisfying parts of completing a stage
    - The codex is hilarious and well worth reading. Adds a lot to the lore.
    - A well defined world, loaded with backstory, weaving an excellent lore

    - In the good game modes, action in frenetic and focused.
    - Playing as a demon never gets old
    - Huge amount of customization options

    Cons:
    - The old school modes do not work well here. The maps are too big for undirected modes such as team deathmatch. Objective-based only.
    - Far too limited weapon selection
    - Progression is limited to skins after the initial unlocks. There is little to keep working towards once you've unlokced the weapons and demons (which doesn't take long). Added the ability to unlock and mix and match secondary fires would've added a lot of longevity to the mode.

Every weapon, excepting the basic Pistol, is powerful enough to be viable in any situation, but are more useful some times than others. Each one of the dozens of demons is unique in its own way, and some, like the Possessed Engineer can be a life-saver in some situations, while others are annoying pests, such as the Summoner, who teleports around the place, spawning enemies to overwhelm you. Other factors heavily, and positively, improve the combat for me, such as the removal of reloading, which saves you from slowing down or glory kills, which is one of the only ways to last on higher difficulties. The soundtrack is one of the most unforgettable in a video game, containing incredibly heavy guitars, strange pedals, in-your-face synths and even a choir when need be. Just to think what the music for this game would’ve been if Bethesda’s idea of no metal in the DOOM soundtrack had gone through. Another thing that the DOOM franchise has been pushing since the first game is graphics, and my god does this game look gorgeous. The locales are all wonderfully textured, and you’d be hard pressed to find anything that looks horrendous in this game. Secrets are littered across the world; and in every level weapons that are introduced in the next level can be found, and also Classic maps, which let you explore older maps from the first two DOOM games, and the jarring difference between the pixelated background and the beautifully rendered demons is almost comedic. The story is nothing much to worry about. It’s a normal Science-Fiction story, with humans finding a new type of energy, trying to extract it, not noticing the massive repercussions that are bound to ensue. If you still crave some more out of the game, there are a couple options, although this game’s campaign is quite a good-deal long, and extremely re-playable, especially for its miniscule price. SnapMap is a handy feature which allows you to create your very own map, and also explore other player’s creations. The game does a good job teaching you, and you can probably read every tutorial in the seven years it takes to load SnapMap. There is also multiplayer, which died quicker than a honeybee. And at least the honeybee was useful. Whereas DOOM’s multiplayer wasn’t. And if you don’t want either, well, kiddo, you’re outta options. To recap, DOOM is certainly my favourite shooter to ever be released, with its high-octane combat, unforgettable demons and even less forgettable soundtrack.     Doom is f****g awesome , i love this game. Finished it on ultra-violence on PC, now i play it on PS4. The game is absolutely awesome , you can finish it 2-3-4 times on higher difficulty , get all the challenges done. Bethesda really did a good job with this game. This deserves a 90+ score. Also it has the classic doom maps which are so good on nightmare difficulty.

    Good old Doom. Basically you jump around shooting everything that moves throughout the entire game. The game is so dynamic that it feels more like dancing than shooting. Go buy it immediately if you enjoy mindless shooter like classic Doom or Serious Sam!

You kill your demonic foes in numerous ways, from close range shot gun blasts, to chainsawing them in half and getting rewarded with more ammo for your many, many guns. There's no reloading, as well - which aids in the flow of combat, allowing you to keep a fast pace as you zip around the large, open arenas, occasionally preforming a glory kill on a hapless hell spawn in order to get your health back up. Coupled with this, there's a large amount of upgrades to help bolster you on your mission; from weapon upgrades, to upgrades for your suit (some, such as the one making you immune to explosive barrels, are somewhat more useful than others), to runes gained from completing challenge arenas. All of it serves to make the game more fun, and a worthwhile venture at any rate.

    The soundtrack is absolutely topnotch. Although its mostly very heavy music I have to say its mixed in perfectly to set accents on the scenes you encounter in the campaign. The sound is hard, heavy, fast paced. Your adrenaline goes up instantly and makes the fight even more pumping. They did a good job on that one. Although taste might differ of course.

    The controls are decent, even for console. There is a certain aim assist but I feel its less heavy then in other shooters. I m not the best in terms of console aim and the game is really fast paced more like the oldschool 90s shooters which is very unforgiving. The AI is not ultra clever but it will seek you out somewhen most of the time, so covering is not always a good solution. But if you acknowledge the game and its rules there is much fun to discover. Go right in the brawl melee shotgun the demons, glory kill them, get life back, find the next one, switch weapon and wreck the rest. Very satisfying!

    The world is a nice concept of a semi-open world that interconnects via story telling. The mini-map does assist good although I like the simple markers more. Mini achievements bring bits of difference but most of them will be achieved anyways if you just play, kill and look behind corners. The rune runs are a nice addition. They put you out of campaign into an arena like setting where you have to kill or achieve a goal with a certain gun in a certain amount of time. Not the worst idea although pretty simplistic overall.

    The story itself is pretty typical for Doom. Nothing new but its just what you came for and it ll be delivered without unnecessary hazzle.

    After all the open world and multiplayer driven shooters that were produced, Doom 2k16 is definetely one of the best single player campaign shooters I have played in DECADES. The sound mixing is brilliant, the OST is pumping, movement is very fast and smooth even on consoles. Weapons are fun and can be modified for individual play style. It brings different mini components to mix up the drill.

    To me Doom 2k16 is a true successor of the old glory that was named Doom 2. For prices below 10 bucks please get this game and give it a try at least.    … Expand

    I had never played a doom game, I never really had any intentions of ever playing one either, but I regret all my life choices, I would have regretted never playing this game, the graphics and gameplay are outstanding, it makes you feel like a one man army as you tear and rip demons to shreds with your bare hands great game I reccomened

    One or two glitch here and there but this aside Doom is the third best game i ever played ! It was the first time i replayed a game after finishing it ! Mortally Challenging, beautiful, fast paced, brutal, feel like a **** god, one of the best lore out there etc... this game is the best FPS since a decade

    Smooth gameplay, knows it's role as an action shooter. The levels are visually pleasing and worth exploring. The rpg elements are fitting.

    Mild complaints: I would personally cut doom guy's running speed by half and the text is way too small. I have an aversion to industry-wide menu screens that are 50% border crap and tiny visuals.

    I went through the game on the highest difficulty with a PS4 gamepad. And damn it was cool. This is a great game, with great shooting and just best music.

    I never was a big Doom fan at the time. I’m fact, I had never played any of the games at all, until the beginning of this year, sadly. I was blown away with how awesome this game turned out to be. Everything from the gameplay, the weapons, level design, and of course, that badass soundtrack, made me fall in love with the series, and I couldn’t be any happier with how this game turned outI never was a big Doom fan at the time.     This is by far the best first person shooter I've played. I don't care about all that boomer talk, this game manages to provide fun and challenge, progression and improvement like very few games out there do, especially FPS.

    I first play campaign and its perfect i never seen a action game like doom and later play the multiplayer its awesome you can be a demon!
    And i try the snapmap its the best thing i ever seen in games i play snapmap and make maps for 2 years and im still playing it basically its a perfect game.

    Great game, love it...old style shooter but with all the extras, weapon mods etc etc.
    For some reason it doesn't like my wireless controller though but works perfectly with my plug in

    I bought the game and i was hesitant to play it for some reason but i started playing it and i really enjoyed it and i thought i wouldn't. It was that good i even completed it to 100% and got the platinum trophy on ps4 which i rarely do and i only do that if i really enjoyed the game but anyway i cant wait to play doom eternal and its DLC.

Everybody else can just kill demons and not be bothered. Speaking of killing demons, it's more fun to do than I ever imagined. Combat is visceral, fast and brutal. Every arena is a potential for a symphony of ripping and tearing.
