It touches important topics about humanity and our future that are much deeper than it can be seen on the surface as "game about androids". Long essay could be easily written just about the story and important issues that it contains so I skip this part. All I can say is that it's very emotional story that touched me deeply. Not often I feel so engaged in the events and fate of protagonist because not many games can develop great story. I played it on 'experienced' level even if I'm new to PS4 controller and I need more time that game allowed me to tap right button but this way it was more challenging and more emotional. Of course, I failed almost completely. Another plus for a game because failing is winning here: you can learn a lesson and try again to success by trying new pathways - game is not boring and allow for many game-plays where you can see events previously not discovered.
Music is awesome. Three composers matched to character of protagonists plus bonus tracks. It's so nice to hear artists from Detroit like father of Techno Juan Atkins.
My personal favorite is Kara, her story and soundtrack. I felt in my hands is life of real person not character in the game. Other two stories and characters are inferior. No not at all. All of them are equally great. It's just personal preference to like one character above another.
Graphics is also really good - nothing that I could complain about, it keeps today's highest standards. Face expressions are great. They doesn't break 4th wall - another achievement.
Main menu android assistant is also great idea. I'll miss her :)
It's easy for me to give highest score because it seems that authors of the game share the same view about the world and our civilization/society as me so I felt at home.
I hope that more games will have such engaging stories and rich characters and I hope that Quantic Dream will bring new awesome game soon.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

The plot is really good - we have straight strong motivations, places where we want to end up, and we have trouble along the way. It's not a kind of story with crazy plot-twists etc. It's an emotional story about finding identity and freedom. I can recommend it to anyone who likes this kind of topics.

The characters are well thought out: Connor, Markus and some of the NPCs stealing the show. Lara’s character and plot is a little irritating on the second play through (and beyond), but that is simply because she has less dimensions than the two male leads. It doesn’t help that her plot is not intrinsic to the overarching story, where Markus and Connor’s are. She carries the ‘civilian’ experience of a civil war, so while her journey is emotional, it’s not for everyone. I found her story to bring the enjoyment of the game down. For what it’s worth, I found Connor and Markus’ scenes much more enjoyable, with an emotive experience, and Connor’s plot definitely trumps the whole experience. All in, an excellent game. I’m on my fifth play through and I still have a good 30-40% of gameplay still left to view.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Detroit Become human is a fascinating game filled with beloved characters and new twists and turns each chapter. There is a lot of story writing errors though, for examples, not explaining what rA9 is. I think the writer left it to the players to decide what it could be, but that just ends up leaving many confused. Also, Alice was a android the whole time was a good idea, but the writer made a few mistakes on details that didn't make sense on why Alice did human things like eat and need sleep if she was an android. But a handful of errors does not takeaway the fact that as a whole, Detroit is a great game. My favorite parts are when you are Connor, I love to solve mysteries and anyone who is a fan of mysteries might find these chapters to be a lot of fun. Replay value for me was slim, I got bored trying to replay the game being a violent deviant since most of the story is the same, just different endings per chapter. I wish there was a skip option for any cutscenes that you've done before. I loved heavy rain and any fans of that game will like this one as well. Graphics are good and will age well overtime unlike heavy rain and beyond two souls. Can't wait to see the future games of Quantic Dreams Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. "Detroit: Become Human isn’t a game, it’s an experience." This or similar banal phrase may frequently be heard about Quantic Dream’s most recent title. And it’s actually not wrong, in case we don’t take it as a praise. Detroit definitely isn’t a game, but the question is what does it want to be, and I’m not sure whether the developers can answer, as the gameplay is too dull for a game, limiting to walking back and forth around corridor-type locations and pressing buttons to progress through the dialogues and QTEs, and the plot is quite fragile for a worthy movie, as its setting is made rather poorly (at least some grounding for now-dying Detroit becoming a world’s capital of futuristic technologies by 2038 would be nice), its backstory isn’t even a bit sophisticated (the game doesn’t show you how and why do androids develop human feelings, it just tells you - they do), and it doesn’t mind forgetting something established within the game’s universe if it’s needed (e.g. Markus is clearly shown to need to physically contact an android to turn them into a deviant, but at some point he just starts to turn entire hordes of androids remotely). And yes, Detroit: Become Human is an experience. A disappointing, unpleasant experience of playing through the game preferring to push on some ‘tragedy’ to cover its unsustainable plot and hide its mediocre gameplay behind ‘nonlinearity’. Yes, the most painful thing about Detroit: Become Human is that it’s not fully nonlinear. Of three main storylines, only Connor’s feels totally free, as you’re able to choose between both sides while playing as him, and you aren’t while playing through Kara’s and Markus’ paths. Whether you want it or not, Kara will become the deviant, flee, approach certain people, etc (though in her story you may at least choose between saving her life only and helping Alice and Luther as well), and the endings when she gets captured by Zlatko or dies feel more like a game over than an independent finale. And while Kara’s story is actually somewhat nonlinear, Markus’ one is disappointingly straightforward until the very denouement. Your choices have almost zero weight until he joins Jericho, but since then not too much will change, as your choices will only be affecting his position within that movement hierarchy, not the fate of the rebellion, as it will continue, with or without Markus, and its destiny is actually in Connor’s hands, not his. These intricacies of the branching trees show that the game might have actually become much more nonlinear. However, despite Detroit is too straightforward for an interactive drama, it actually manages to achieve that level of attention to detail when the game’s replay potential becomes almost limitless, as no two playthroughs will be totally identical if you respond a couple of dialogues differently. The other really strong part of the game is its amazing visuals and a decent sound design, and those who provided them deserve only glorification for their work. Returning to the epigraph of this review, I can tell Detroit: Become Human IS an experience, but not necessarily a positive one. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m very late to playing this game. I’ve only heard good things about it so I gave in and decided to give it a try and I was genuinely impressed with it! The story was interesting, the choices fun, and the acting great. Then suddenly that just changes. The story becomes immensely generic, the choices make no sense to what you chose, and the characters become... well... androids. They have no emotion and you don’t care about any of them. One mission on particular is incredibly embarrassing and hard to play. That is the broadcast mission where out “hero’s” get to go be generic spy’s to get into a broadcast station to state why they should be free. Except the mission makes no sense. Why was there an Android outfit in the bathroom? Who stashed it there? How come nobody saw two androids against the windows of the building full of people? How did they get up the work elevator? How did they get all this spy crap when they have nothing at Jericho? So many things make zero sense and none of your choices matter. There’s also very little direction so you’ll spend most the mission ignoring the controls to figure out where to go. I literally let Simon die because I figured it would let me get out of the mission faster. And because I didn’t even know his name and had zero attachment to him. This mission just to lazy for me. They went for something generic and “cool” and pulled it off so embarrassingly bad. And that’s how the whole end of the game feels. I couldn’t recommend this game to anyone. It just ends up heartless and lazy after the first few hours. Expand

It's one of those games where the graphics and details really suck you in at first, and there are some intense moments that try to clutch at your heartstrings, but then later on the plot twists and bad writing hit and really suck the air out of its sails.

The characters are really kind of flat, as much as Cage tries to give them some sort of personality, but they all basically come down to the embodiment of certain over-used tropes. At the end of the game there's a survey that asks if anything resonated with you in the game, and it's pretty telling that for the most part, most people did not. Myself included. I couldn't really feel connected to the characters. Maybe because deep down in my brain, I know that they're just machines? Or maybe because there really wasn't much depth to them. Either way, there was no emotional attachment there.

The 'plot twist' where you find out that Alice is also an android instead of a human child really ruins any replayability of Kara's route for me, especially since so many of her tasks/actions revolve around keeping Alice safe/warm. An android looking out for another android is just the same as the rest of the game, but an android looking out for a human child is something that seems a little more touching and moving. Bad writing ruining things once again.

The parts with Markus and 'liberty for androids' being so closely mirrored to the civil rights movement only made me cringe. So many parts of this game being torn out from other movies and TV shows made it... not so original. And some of the endings of the game where it just ends and the credits roll, feel super jarring.

The only good thing about this game is the fact that Bryan Dechart (who plays Connor) is so into his role and so appreciative of the people who have made the game as big as it is. But I still can't give the game a higher score.

I really want to like this game. There are so many positive aspects about it - the visuals are amazing, and clearly show not just a high level of skill, but also a lot of care and attention to detail. The acting is quite good - certainly better than any of Quantic Dream's previous works. And overall it just seems like a lot of the non-core parts of the game had a lot of effort put into them. That's why it's so tragic that at it's core, Detroit: Become Human is just another **** David Cage game. This game shows that once again, Cage has failed to learn from his mistakes and has merely gotten better at hiding his flaws. I can talk about a number of them (the lack of any real consequences for many decisions because Cage doesn't believe in game overs, the abrasively obvious moralistic overtones, the terrible cliches - like the son of the painter - who continue to show that Cage cares less about showcasing the human condition and more about pushing one particular narrative), but I'll focus on one in particular that really annoyed me. There are boatloads of menial tasks and fetch quests that have to be completed by the player to progress the story while not providing any real engagement or meaning. If anything, despite the obvious attempt to increase immersion, these tasks make me feel much less immersed because of how menial they are. David Cage needs to realize that escapism is a big part of why most of us play video games. Sure, there are many other reasons as well, but I never pick up a video game just so that I can feel like I'm doing the same chores that I'm avoiding by playing the video game in the first place. Immersion is certainly an important part of video games, and realism can be a key component of immersion. However, David Cage always takes it too far. Video games are special because they can transport us beyond the mundane lives that we lead. There are many great games that allow you to go through "real world" scenarios, but most of these games use surrealism to keep the player immersed - that is to say, there are many realistic situations and choices that the player has to make, but it's always buoyed by the fact that there is something special about the situation. This could involve fantasy or just a situation that's more extraordinary than our daily lives. Either way, we feel like we're able to vicariously experience things that we couldn't otherwise. Detroit: Become Human absolutely has the raw material necessary to pull something like this off. The world in the game is very interesting, and offers many opportunities to use this "surrealist" approach when assigning the player tasks. However, Cage somehow manages to turn this dynamic landscape into a boring, drab fetch quest simulator far too often. It's incredible frustrating to play through once this becomes apparent.

I honestly want to give this game a 4, but because of how many other aspects of the game were done well, I'm upgrading it to a 6. I'm definitely biased against this game because I really disliked pretty much all of his previous games, and I'm frustrated that he's getting away with it this time because the elements that he likely didn't contribute to were so good.

    What a game!
The intriguing story line, the 99 endings that let us practically to an infinite game play , one of the most epics musics( like the first one when the game starts) and great graphics make this game AWESOME in my opinion. Even all, the game have some problems with bugs that didn't let me review it with 10 stars.

This game is awesome, the number of decisions and outcomes you can get is insane. I don't know why people say the replay value is zero, I finished the game four times and in all of them I got different endings. It's nothing like reaching the endgame and having to choose between two options while all the other decisions you made through the game affect little to nothing on the ending (like MANY games of this genre do). Every decision on D:BH counts, even the little ones can greatly change you story. Replaying the game to take different paths is something you should totally do.

Easily one of the best games of 2018. Well done, Quantic Dream!

All this complaining about how boring the gameplay is blah blah blah. It's like people who leave bad reviews under certain JRPGs like "I hate turn-based combat". DON'T LEAVE A REVIEW THEN! The genre obviously isn't for you so you literally voided your own review. If you played Detroit hoping for action packed gameplay, then I dont care what you think about the game.

Sidenote: I personally wouldn't give this game more than a 7.5. Granted I've only gotten one ending so far so MAYBE my opinion can change but to be completely honest, there just weren't very many characters I cared about. In a game like this, you are shooting yourself in the foot to have anything off about your story considering the entirety of your game is storytelling. And like typical QD fashion, there's a number of unrealistic interactions, lack of explanations regarding certain character motivations, and extremely polar quality voice acting (ranging from EXCELLENT to just awkward and flat).

I won't spoil anything but in my story branch, there was a twist that they built it up to seem like a big deal but because there were no hints or lead up and they just sorta spring it on you and move the story forward like nothing happened, I felt nothing.

Gameplay is smoother than it's ever been in a QD game but still stiff. It pissed me off how many object interactions I missed because I wasn't able to line the character's body up the right way to do so. Like if something is sitting on a table, why do I have to walk all the way to the front side of the table to pick it up?? Just grab the damn thing like a regular person! They really do make you feel like a stiff android when you move around. UGH!

Also did not like how there were a number of NON-TIMED sections that were secretly timed. Which stung me more times than I was comfortable with when I assumed I had time to kill and would read the human magazines only to have the sequence move forward shortly after I put it down -- BEFORE I was able to investigate like half a room. A little heads up there would've been nice..

Overall, (while it is FUNCTIONALLY their best game) in terms of story it only beats out Beyond Two Souls. To me, Heavy Rain and Indigo Prophecy were still more compelling so it does feel like QC is moving backwards. There were literally times I took a break out of boredom and continuing sometimes like punching the clock before sitting down to do work at the office. Like "(Sigh) Well I don't like to leave things unfinished..."

    - Visually, it's one of the best looking games I've seen on the PS4. Animations, lighting and the detail are just top notch and you will want to just take in how beautiful some of the environments look.
-All three characters are interesting and I felt compelled to keep them alive and see how their story ends.
-The options given to you do have an impact on the story as you progress and it does feel like the outcome weights on your shoulders.
-Quick time events in the game, while I'm not a huge fan of QTE overall, are manageable in the game especially compared to Beyond Two Souls
-Soundtrack is good and matches the story and tone
-The main menu of the game is pretty cool as it is an android interacting with you

    CONS
-Some chapters don't have much in terms of branching out and are simply chapters to get from A to B.
-While this isn't an open world game, there are times you can't cross the street without going across a crossing path which means there are invisible barriers blocking you from roaming freely
-The game can be completed in roughly ten to 11 hours so it's relatively short. However if you want to unlock all endings and paths, game play time will increase

Overall, this is a game that has an interesting story and makes you wonder about the possibilities technology has to offer going forward. Could we really go to far to the point that technology overtakes us and machines develop consciousness?

The demo for this game on the other hand made me wish I had a Playstation, but it turned out Detroit: Become Human most likely won't stand the test of time. And I explain why.

A lot of cliches, plot holes and silly things that just don't let you take most of the story seriously. As an example: singing in front of police. I'm sorry, I laughed. Games that rely a lot on dialogs must be written very good, I felt like there are only few moments in the game that I would like to "rewatch". In the year when there is rise of cyberpunk and A.I. shows and movies, you have to be very impressive to not look like a bunch of recycled ideas.

Out of all 3 main characters relationships with their companions the only one what doesn't feel forced or annoying is Connor and Hank (if you go buddy route). The chemistry, the humor, the dialogs, everything fells more superior to the others just like Connor character himself. Doesn't surprise me he is fan favourite. The variety of behaviour and outcomes for Connor is the most interesting and versatile. Such a shame creators didn't really make enough of interactions between Kara, Markus and Connor. Especially the last two, considering how story tries to make them opposite to each other.

I can't share the love for Kara. Her story feels a bit off. Connor and Markus on the other hand directly affect on the main plot. Yes, sometimes there should be more grounded story line to see more sides, but Kara doesn't progress and change as a character at all, her motives stay the same. You don't have a choice but to keep the same narrative with her. The cliffhanger that people like to praise is very easy to predict and it doesn't affect the story at all.

The other major problem for me it's how game feels empty after you finish it and cool down a day later. There are nothing to discuss really. No major twist that make you go and debate with others, not theories what could expand the lore more. The main question is never answered and even worse it dies down right after the other character plot became the main focus and player has to deal with it. I feel like if it was explored more Detroit could be really impactful and strong plot wise.
As a fan of sci-fi and just a geek I wasn't satisfied with the world that Detroit: Become Human offers to me, most importantly it offers nothing new. So much potential gone to waste and that what saddens me. Game just feels like there are only two views: black and white. No middle ground or gray area. It's really easy to criticize this game, honestly. And you don't have to be a hater for it.

But there are undeniable good things that make Detroit enjoyable and entertaining, at least for a while. Visually it looks stunning and may has the most realistic facial animation, thank to motion capture. Sometimes it make you forget all you see is not a movie. The cast is really good and I like when I can recognize only few familiar faces in it. The soundtrack has some strong moments, sometimes a little repetitive, but overall - good. Amount of paths what story can go, mostly in little details. I thinks Detroit is the first game that has so many possible outcomes for player, just wish the writing was better.

Detroit: Become Human is heavily cinematic and I must admit some scenes are very nice. The junkyard scene is probably the most darkest and cyberpunkish is the game, I liked Terminator reference. The final kiss scene may feel melodramatic, but surprisingly i found it some sort of beautiful. When girl was riding the carousel in park, two androids in love trying to escape in rain (heavy Blade runner reference). And again: Connor and Hank chemistry makes it all. But it's esy to miss these scenes if your playthrough goes in different way. That's why to have a good script overall and not just a pieces of it is necessity.

Should you play it? Totally. Does it stays in your mind after you finish it? No. But If you are undemanding and unsophisticated person who never explored other works in the same category you probably will be blown away. Well, sadly I wasn't.

I find it astounding that a game such as this was actually made - concepts go as far back as 2013, meaning that some middle managers fought hard to get this game made, remade, polished and finally released.

The writing is worthy of a favorite TV series or book - kudos to all involved. I really have no time to play games right now, but I stole every moment I could to further progress. Note that the game has a great narrative structure enabling short sprints of engagement, so it gets my new parent recommendation with a vengeance.

The game is one of the best games this year, and is the best game from Quantic Dreams so far. The Characters, the music, the graphics, everything is done so well.

The Story is the reason why you'll be playing. You can tell that this concept has been tackled dozens of times before from previous works like I robot or Metropolis, but this game executes it in a way that's much more refreshing and interesting. Usually when a game claims to have the ability to let you choose your own story and make how you want it based on your actions it tends to basically be more of an illusion of choice where they tell the story they want to tell with your actions having minor affect (looking at you, Telltale games) but this game actually has several well fleshed out paths that change the story DRASTICALLY. Your characters can die (both playable and secondary) leaving you with dire situations actually feeling DIRE (movies can't build up this much tension because of the fact that you can actually loose the characters you love) And seeing how your actions affect the characters and story is just a treat each time you play. There are three main characters of whom you control, each leading their own different but connected stories. Just saying it now, Markus is the most bland of the bunch, but that just means that you don't have enough reason to like him because the other characters are just so fleshed out.

The graphics are amazing, as is each game that QuanticDreams comes out with. The faces and expressions are amazingly photorealistic most of the time (there are time when their mouths could definitely be done better, but these are done better than most other games) I only wish the body movements were on par with the faces. They aren't BAD per se, but they aren't to the same degree as the faces, which can be noticeable at times, so by comparison they just look a bit lax.

The gameplay is geared towards maximum story telling, so don't expect anything like the newest God of War or anything. It's made for the purpose of the story leading the game, but the gameplay still stands out as pretty darn impressive regardless, playing as a detective robot and finding all the little secret nooks and crannies that are available is just downright fun. The controls, although generally tight enough to for the game's purposes, can sometimes be a little fidgety, causing your character to sometimes do things that aren't at all what you were telling them to do, which can lead to frustration as they especially love going wonky in high stress situations in the story where accuracy and speed are key. Other than that, the gameplay is tight and great. It's nowhere near as bad as Beyond Two Souls.

The music is like that of a blockbuster hit; it's just amazing, and keeps the situation tense when it is supposed to be tense, and emotional when it's supposed to be emotional, and the like.

The only reason you shouldn't play this game is if you don't like great stories and character development, in which case I'm sure there's a mindless shooter like Fortnite or something for you around somewhere.

Sure, "Heavy Rain" is still a game I absolutely adored, flaws and all, and I still call it a "flawed masterpiece," one of the few games where I can look past the problems and still absolutely love it, but unfortunately, Quantic Dream followed up their "flawed masterpiece" with "Beyond: Two Souls," a game that was no masterpiece, but it was certainly flawed. And I had my skepticisms going into "Detroit: Become Human." Sure, the story looked more focused, but the gameplay looked very similar to the company's previous titles, so this game's success rested solely with the story. Would "Detroit" be able to win me over in a way that "Beyond" was unable to? Well, fortunately, yes!
"Detroit: Become Human," as it should be obvious, looks visually brilliant. Quantic Dream's first PS4 adventure is gorgeously designed, and it's a game that actually makes uncanny valley look good. The gameplay, while similar in ways to their previous titles, is more streamlined and easy-to-follow, and I'd even argue that the game sets a new gold standard for choice-based gameplay. This is shown in the flowchart, which shows you exactly how many options there are in the game, and while some have said it ruins the pace for them, I didn't mind it, and I found that, with it showing you how many paths you can take, the game beg for replays. On top of that, I find the narrative in this game to be the best of any of the Quantic Dream games. Maybe it's because I'm judging on my first play, but I feel like there weren't as many gapingly obvious plot holes here, and luckily the story says focused on one unified idea: androids in Detroit, all hoping for survival in a world where they are constantly discriminated against. And while some have criticized the somewhat heavy-handed approach it takes to historical themes, I personally found a lot of the subtle social commentary and allegories to be quite fascinating. Beyond that, the characters are compelling and unforgettable, and they're led by incredible performances, with standouts being the trio of Jesse Williams, Valorie Curry, and Bryan Dechart.
There are a few minor flaws that do stop the game from being a 10 out of 10 from me. For one, the controls can be a bit difficult at times. The Quick-Time Events are fine, but sometimes movement can be a bit awkward, and it can be nerve-wracking when movement is integral to a character's survival. On top of that, as I said earlier, the game does follow a style of gameplay very similar to "Heavy Rain" and "Beyond: Two Souls" (with the addition of some neat scanning and analyzation aspects here and there). Now, while I personally don't mind that, I do know that their style of gameplay (the "interactive drama," if you will) is VERY polarizing, so I do feel like, if you haven't been into their style of gameplay before, this may not change your mind (unless, of course, the story fascinates you).
Even so, flaws aside, "Detroit: Become Human" is an excellent title that fully re-establishes Quantic Dream as a company to watch for. It's nice to see them deliver a really great game on the PlayStation 4, and even if the wait for the game was long (QD first announced they were making a PS4 game back in 2013), the wait was worth it. It's bound to be polarizing, much like everything else the company makes, but I think it's a wonderful game that's definitely well-worth trying for yourself.

Excellent game. Amazing graphics, great storyline, and entertaining gameplay. The game also has a pretty decent amount of action in it too. Highly enjoyable. In a world where open-world seems to win out, having a more linear game is appealing to me but of course it still provides an incredible amount of depth, decision making, and multiple playstyle options. By the end of the game, I was certainly emotionally attached to the players - which is a big rarity for me.

An absolute must-play, if just for the social commentary alone.

Was it a good choice? Definitely. I only wish I could wipe every memory of this game from my brain and experience it again. After playing previous games from Quantic Dream I can fairly say that this game is much superior compared to their previous titles - a real milestone. Both Heavy Rain and Beyond had some problems with plot holes or other minor issues. In case of this game everything feels very polished and decent. Graphics and motion capture are state-of-the-art. I am not able to count how many times this game made my heart beat so fast. Not to mention producing a lot of emotions during gameplay. Music, acting and plot are also a great delight to eyes and ears. The only one tiny thing I'm missing is more philosophical questions about being alive, but except of this Detroit is my personal favourite. 10/10. Thank you Quantic Dream. Please make more great experiences such as this one and push boundaries even further. Expand

The best Quantic Dream game so far. And also the best game in "interactive drama" genre.

Also, the acting of the actors is very powerful, all the characters seems to be so real.

The story was excellent and the level of player choice was really very impressive. Decisions from early parts of the game continually impacted my choices and really made it feel like my choices mattered. I was also really impressed by how many scenarios had multiple possible endings so you rarely feel like you're being funnelled towards a certain objective.
This is a huge step up from beyond two souls in terms of narrative and gameplay wise it greatly improves on heavy rain in terms of its smooth controls. You have to expect though that this game is primarily story driven. So don't buy it expecting lots of shooting or car chases.
My biggest complaint is probably the box art.... like why david cage? why make such a great game and then choose one of the ugliest box art designs i've ever seen?
This is one of the best games i've played so far this year and highly recommend it.

    SILENCE INFIDELS.
Detroit is very much a video game and while no it is not the type of game you see every day that does not make it bad just... different. Detroit is a game created by the aggressively French David Cage and like all his other games if you are expecting fast paced action or a 40-hour story then you done F-ed up. Cage's games are made so that the player immerses themselves in the world and tries not to break immersion even for mundane task. His previous works include Heavy Rain (Great game with issues) and Beyond Two Souls (terrible game with issues). Detroit is his latest work and is the most technically improved game yet.

    1. Graphics - Starting with the games biggest strong point is its graphics. Everything is stunning from the facial animations to the cityscapes to the thread count on the characters jackets. Things look as close to photo realistic in this game as they could be. My wife not knowing I was playing a game walked by during a cutscene and thought i was watching an episode of greys anatomy cause of Jesse Williams. Visuals cant be beat.

    2. Story. The story is good but not great. This is a good setting and premise but there are alot a political boxes checked off that break immersion because you are slapped in the face by slavery allegories or "hands up dont shoot" references. This game was definitely written for the USA political climate of 2018. I dont know if it will age well but I can say as i was playing the game I enjoyed it. If you try to think to hard about all the real world politics involved THAT is what will make you enjoy the game less. If you sit down and enjoy the story for what it is with all the chases, heist, investigations, and daring escapes then you will have a good time. Remember its a game; have fun.

Main characters are the games strong suits. I loved Kara and her maternal instincts, Marcus was alittle stiff but I attribute that more to Jesse Williams than to the writing (Sorry Jesse). My favorite character was Brian Decharts Connor. He and Clancy Brown made an awesome duo.

    3. Mechanics. The mechanics were not that of an average video game. This is not an action game so I wish people would stop criticizing it for not being. What it is and an amalgam for and old point and click adventure and quick time events mixed with story driven choose your own adventure dialogue. In other words its very David Cage. The mechanics were alot smoother than in his previous games and while I do wish the characters could sprint sometimes when going from point A to B i am not complaining because the whole game has been carefully crafted for presentation.

Conclusion: 10/10 when I appreciate it for what it is. Must Buy

PS: After every chapter log out to the main menu to interact with Chloe. It is a big part of the experience that you can miss if you are not careful.

Detroit: Become Human delivers a story with a ton of possible choices, and a lot of questions for a player to bear afterward. If you like it when games make you think about them after you play them, this is the game for you. Stunning visuals and music score, make you forget about some weaker points of the game. But all in all, it is an enjoyable experience you should not miss.

Detroit: Become Human looks and sounds great, and includes key player choices throughout, though it could have benefited greatly from a tighter script. While it’s commendable that Quantic Dream tried to cover hot-button issues in a big-budget video game, it works better when focused on the personal character moments than the bigger themes that don’t dig deep enough to make a meaningful impact.

Although the narrative is fairly linear, there are enough branching paths over the course of the game to make it feel like your actions matter. That allows Detroit to still be fun even on multiple playthroughs – and for an interactive movie, that’s a rare praise. [Issue#231, p.68]
