    This game is very interesting as to what could happen in the future of technology, but the one thing that stood out to me was the gender roles and gender attitudes. I've noticed the female characters in the game showed more of an aggressive attitude or had anger built up when it came to the male bot characters roles.     The graphics are great, the story is immersive, the characters have personality, and you did it very well to play 3 characters at the same time. It fascinates even a player like me who doesn't like interactive movies. It's a masterpiece and the cheap price and replayability are very good. deserves the rating.

    I had low hopes for this game, but I was absolutely astounded on how amazing this game is. What a truly outstanding piece of art. There is just something special about making choices in this game, and seeing how massively they impact the story. The story in itself is great. The visuals are awesome. The dialogue is great, most of the time. Now, there are some missions that go on for aI had low hopes for this game, but I was absolutely astounded on how amazing this game is.     Это что-то невероятное! Такое разнообразие сцен, сюжетов, развилок, столько различных вариаций и все интересные! Проходить эту игру больше 2х раз будет тяжко, конечно, но 2 раза - это прям в огромное удовольствие!

    Первая игра в моей жизни которой я поставил такую оценку, настолько атмосферной, высоко развитой игры я никогда не видел, проходил игру на ps 5 но к сожалению она еще не оптимизирована для этой консоли.

    Very engaging story and gameplay, I feel like the game is a bit short and at the later part of the game it had some glitches and problems even when playing on PS5. But that's only minuses I can give, apart from that a fantastic game.

    Best quantic dream game so far. It has good characters, kinda mixes the good in heavy rain with some characters arcs but also the good in beyond two souls and they get likeable characters as well. The pacing is pretty good, the gameplay is much more fun than before, the investigation scenes with the music are **** amazing

    There is one major flaw (which is common in many games these days): When your objective is for example to find a shelter, and you are left in a rainy street during night, you can push the scan button and see a few markers placed in the world. Instead of exploring the world and really searching for a shelter, you just need to go to the yellow markers    It could have been a real stunner.

    Even worse is that not only the markers are placed but also when your objective is to "clean the house" you also see "sub-objectives" like: wash dishes, empty trash...

    And that's on "immersive" game-setting. If they limited the "scanning" and reduce the objectives, it would be such a pleasure to explore the stunning world. Instead, its just another "follow the pointer" game.

    I hate this with many games. While other games would be unplayable without the markers (e.g. Witcher 3) the World of Detroit is dense enough and delivers all you need to play the game without any UI.    … Expand

    Detroit: Become Human is an incredible work of art, featuring advanced branching stories across three likeable protagonists. The graphics, story, sound design and gameplay are all incredibly solid and this is certainly Quantic Dream's greatest effort. Very very good game

    It has become my new addiction. It’s amazing that you can really feel like you’re in the game and your choices matter.
    I have played the beginning 4x now and get different scenarios each time that I didn’t before. Sometimes you’ll miss clues and things which keep you from unlocking a new chapter, then whatever way you decide to go decides your fate. It’s a great game. Keeps you on your toes and the graphics are amazing! My man caught me playing and he only plays things like COD and destiny etc.. and he said wow the graphics are amazing. Also my 13 year old nephew loves this game too. So men, women, and even teens will love this game. I will say it is very violent, drugs are a big part of the storyline and it’s bad as*! Def check it out! The only thing I wish I could change was I wish I could choose how my character looks, but still an amazing game!

    Oh and I also wish that I could have multiple games going at once, that way when and if I wanna do a chapter over and decide a different fate, I don’t have to play from that point on then. I wish I could have multiple save games going so that I can choose to have one game to completion and one game to check out different endings and situations without losing all my new progress.    … Expand

    Generally OK. Even though I searched from Google for other endings and was really impressed by the plot, I am still not happy about the producers not allowing me to choose a story line to "dislike" robots.

    Gaming as a medium has so far been absolutely pathetic in telling engaging stories that also maturely deal with themes. The themes here should be deeply scientific or philosophical. The game does not touch on either of them. Robots just become human in the most naive and straight forward way possible. Its not a deep game by any stretch of the imagination. And even outside of that, the plot kind of breaks down in the second half.

    The gameplay is very mediocre. So yes, its a choices matter game where choices actually matter, but thats all it really has to offer.    … Expand

I found myself not wanting to stop and when I did have to stop I found myself thinking about the decisions I made and decisions that were yet to be made.

    There are plenty of reviews which praise the graphics or the gameplay, so I want to take a slightly more philosophical view in this review. This will be a bit lengty, so bear with me.

    Looking back at the time spent playing Detroit: Become Human, I would have to say my biggest complaint with the game is that there's just no subtlety in the way the conflict between Android and Humans is portrayed.

    With exception to the one chapter between Android Markus and his Human owner Karl, every Human/Android interaction is negative or abusive. Even as you walk down the street you see Human owners verbally and physically abusing their Android helpers. When interacting directly with Humans as Kara, Connor, or Markus, there's always a sneer or an underlying skepticism, no matter how peaceful or normal you act.

    The closest we get to a positive Human/Android interaction is the relationship between Lieutenant Hank Anderson and Connor. But that starts off very abusive and only turns into a positive experience if Connor makes the right set of decisions.

    The game bludgeons the player with this situation where Humans are complete garbage towards Androids. Anyone with a single shred of empathy would side with freeing the Androids given the situation as presented.

    Additionally, when Markus begins freeing the Androids and granting them free will, all of them follow him without question. Not a single one of them makes the decision to stay with their Human owners. Historically we know this is inaccurate and in all cases where a group is oppressed there are some who feel loyal enough (or otherwise compelled) to stay with their oppressors. Not a single Android in Detroit: Become Human does this, not even when Markus explicitly offers the choice. Except as a vague "Public Opinion" meter, no Humans among the general public support the Androids' cause throughout the course of the game, even when the Androids protest peacefully. No Android/Human collaboration. No Humans marching with Androids in their own version of Android Lives Matter. The game pits Humans on one side and Androids on the other.

    I feel like the situation was too binary where the player's only real choice was to determine if the Androids would end up as bad as, or better than, the Humans. Maybe that was the point of the exercise but having the sides aligned as either/or muted the overall message, in my opinion.

    Otherwise, this was a fantastic story where I felt compelled to play through it completely three times and reload varying checkpoints to see different endings another three beyond that. I hesitate to say it's a $60 value but it's definitely worth picking up and playing multiple times. I'm torn between an 8 and a 9, so for the purposes of Metacritic I'm rounding down to an 8, but would give it a solid 8.5 if I could do half scores.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So from the get go I can say that this game looks absolutely phenomenal. The graphics look beautiful, the lighting is excellent and the particle effects like rain looks really excellent. Furthermore, the characters, for the most part are excellent. Connor was extremely interesting as a character who showed some human development while also being excellent for comedic relief with his back and forths between himself and Hank.

    The downsides though do stick out. The most annoying of which is the lack of evolution in gameplay. This still feels like Heavy Rain with just a robot theme, the gameplay has not changed or adapted since then. What has annoyed me about it the most though is the fact that every small goddamn action requires a button movement... My character is not mentally challenged they don't need to be told to open a door! The games themes are also a bit of a hit and miss for me because while it presents some interesting ideas such as slavery, racism and persecution, it presents them in such a blunt way that it almost feels like a parody. This goes from scenes such as the androids standing at the back of the bus (all they would have needed was a Rosa Parks lookalike android to just make it a little more clear lol) to scenes where the androids are sent to camps to be destroyed... I'm not making this up it really is that on the nose about this! This is also best presented by the character Markus who really just feels like they come across as generic freedom fighter. He doesn't really feel like he has any other personality and the characters around him don't really have enough personality to really make Markus feel unique, so he just ends up feeling like a generic freedom fighter with a message. While this may sound like a turn off, honestly I found the themes quite funny just because of how much Cage wanted to make sure it was ABUNDANTLY clear that this game is about slavery, racism and persecution that I found myself laughing at how blunt the scenes were trying to be in conveying this message.

    Overall, the game is a technical marvel, it is a pretty excellent game in its genre and its quite clear that this is that kind of game you really should try because a David Cage game is its own experience that is worth at least trying. However, it does always feel that with David Cage games the biggest criticism is that they are not games you need to play but games that you can watch and this is the same way I feel about Detroit. In the end, I ask myself; "could I not have just watched someone else play this game?" and my answer to that is always yes, I could have seen someone else play this game. It feels like David Cage would rather have been directing movies and this becomes abundantly clear in the atrocious camera that is locked in place (this has been remedied somewhat but is still terrible), barebones gameplay (if you can call moving around and interacting with objects while pushing buttons for responses gameplay) and very high tech cutting edge graphics to make the characters feel as human as possible. I guess in the end that's the way this game feels, not much different from heavy rain with robots but themes that are really blunt. It is enjoyable if you like this kind of game and enjoy the story with the way it takes you.

    For me personally this game does not really feel like it has developed enough to be considered an evolution of Cage's gaming concept and it just feels like the same kind of game I would have played in 2010 (Heavy Rains release date).    … Expand

The three character arcs are given three distinct visual styles, from the use of color, to the cinematography. Markus' story is epic in scale and scope, with grandiose wide shots and smooth camerawork, Karla's is gritty, dark, and with a more handheld style, while Connor's is cool, sterile, and precise. It's this attention to not only its storytelling, but the way in which they bring these characters to life so thoroughly, that plenty of tension spills over when you are faced with a difficult decision, or accidentally make the wrong one. Every aspect matters, and the flow chart that displays your progress and which pathways you have yet to unlock makes each play a different experience, and I think each play will be as satisfying as the last. This is honestly up there with The Last of Us and the Uncharted series for me. I'm not as much of a hard core gamer as others, but I'll definitely be returning to this one, and I already look forward to playing through it again. This is a landmark video game experience, with incredible and fascinating storytelling and unique, intuitive, gameplay. It's also genuinely terrifying at times, and even hard to stomach. Not just because of the imagery or brilliant atmosphere, but also because of how sucked into it you become, and some of your choices you may regret. It's insanely involving and addicting, and I don't get why it never got as much credit as it deserved.… Expand

    I'm playing that on PS5 and I'm impressed. Very realistic faces. Probably the best I've seen in a game. It's impressive it has been developed for PS4. Environment is not that great, but still very good. UI animation and design is superb. Gameplay is something fresh for me.

You always have the thought of characters dying throughout the game, and that ups the ante. Now I believe this is the first truly authentic "your descisions will impact the story" type of game. It's not 100% like that , but some decisions you make will completely change how one scene plays out for one player and another for someone who makes a different choice. (There seems to be about 3-5 different outcomes on average for each chapters; not including the endings). Dialogue options can be unlocked for one player, but not for another if some clues are missed. Multiple endings, based on your choices...you get the point. And surprisingly, this game has some longevity for a interactive game, the flowchart peaks my interest, and you can either play through the game twice, or mess around and see how different decisions would change the outcome. The only con is that the theme of this game never evolves or innovates in its genre. Other than that, it's one of the best interactive game to date.… Expand

    Some of the best visuals I've ever seen in a video game. Enjoyed the cinematic video game experience. The game felt very well put together and constructed. On the downside, the game sometimes felt too melodramatic though and a bit slow. Overall, it had an interesting narrative take on the future of androids.

There is a many ways to finish each episode and game has a different endings. Every character may die so easy and you have to think carefully. I love it. In my play through Conor has died in the end because of my mistake and I felt sad. I knew that I could change it and I will replay a game to see other options.     This was a phenomenal game - brilliant story, very immersive, fantastic graphics & sound. Only niggles were some at-times wonky controls and the quicktime events were a bit on the easy side (when playing 'Experienced' - the harder of the two difficulty levels).

    As the story progresses however, there's nothing left of being an android - they have no identity other than being 1:1 humans with android bodies.

    I didn't expect to like this game but I was bored 2 days ago and fired it up. Already finished 1 playthrough. Had to keep playing to see what would happen next. Good chance I will play it again at least once to see what I can change in the story. It looks like there A lot of could be a lot of different paths and endings

    The bad part ,however, are the choices that sometimes unclear to me of what characters will do. They should give us more explanation in each choices. For exp, in the first episode there is one choice "Blame" but they did not explicitly tell you who are gonna be blamed ? I thought our protagnist was gonna blame human, but instead he blame the villian, which made situation worse and not what I intend. I had to frustatedly reload the mission again. The unclear choices like this one happened many times in the games and are very critical to gameplay so I was gonna game this game 8/10. However, after I reconclied everything and thought about how vast the content is. I think 9/10 is solid because I took about 15-20 hrs to beat this game first time and yet I feel like it is only 1/3 of all content. There are so many route I could explore. In term of all content, it could have been 40 hrs or so, which is very huge for a movie interactive game like this.

    In sum, Detroit Become Human is really worth playing. It is definitely amazing game. I strongly recommend everyone to try it out even just the demo.    … Expand

It's a wonderfully polished experience, and I really, really wanted to like it, but towards the end, everything became so disjointed that you destroy any attachment created to the characters. Split-second decisions for multiple conflicting storylines and incredibly random qtes lead to an exit you didn't wish for, and it feels SO frustrating. Shame...

    And the story, while it started well, the events happening felt forced and often nonsensical. Marcus didn't do anything to become the leader, he just kind of stumbled upon it, and everyone around him instantly agreed, "he is our guy". Kara and Alice ran the whole time, but outside of being incredibly depressing, nothing of note actually happened. The worse of it all was how incredibly predictable the story was if you managed to steer it properly. At the start felt engaging, while towards the end was just a drag that I really wanted to see over. I had plans to explore various missed connections that evaporated the moment I saw the end credits.    … Expand

    I really enjoy the story and characters much more then I already highly expected! The voice acting and motion capture were some of the best I have ever seen in a game.     I played the entire game a second time and make some different choices. That is when something amazing happened: the story changed radically! Entire scenes and narratives were gone and new ones took shape! I felt like I was playing a different game. I could not believe what I was experiencing!
    Granted, the theme of the game and its type of gameplay is my cup-of-tea, so I was predisposed to like it, but it also means I expected a lot from it. However, what I got was beyond my wildest expectations! I cannot recommend it highly enough.     Let's get to the game:

    First of all, the decisions really mattered and the game really changes based on them; it's also so smooth that you don't realize that you might be off the path. But the amazing point is, it's not just for the sake of having different paths, they actually are all well-crafted!

    The three separate characters really feel like three different games with Kara being my favourite one and Connor and Markus tied at second (ok, I like Connor a bit more, to be honest!), yet somehow the stories come together so well that you can feel the butterfly effect! Unlike Heavy Rain which had very poor voice acting, the acting in Detroit is amazing, I really liked the level of attention and the love the actors had put in! (I recommend watching the behind the scenes clips of the show)

    The music was top notch, great idea to have three different artists for each character, really well-done!

    The graphics are so great and beat games released this year! It's amazing how well it performs on PS4. Granted, you should like the genre: it's not everybody's cup of tea but if you do like Interactive Narratives, this game is hands down the best one ever made.

    I was going through the news and saw that QD recently formed a new partnership with NetEase so I am not sure if the next QD game would be a loot box riddled mobile game or else, but if this is the last AAA game they made, it ended on a high note!    … Expand

It looked amazing, had great storytelling, and unlike those Telltale games actually really had tons of different endings---something like 85 endings. It's pretty devastating to have your character die and not be able to load an old save. Los personajes están increíblemente bien desarrollados, cada uno tiene una personalidad marcada. Es un verdadero juegazo que vale la pena totalmente.

If you didn't like Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls, you may buy a different game because this is similar but better in all the possible ways. I just have wished and ending with more scenes or things but it's still a great game. I think it shouldn't deserve less than a 9. This game is short, it took me no more than 12 hours but this kind of games can't be much longer than this. I don't know, there are moments that you have to choose between difficult choises and you get attached to the characters. I lost some characters just before the end and although I think you can repeat some parts of the story I think I'll just replay this game in some days or months. Just read some other reviews and decide if this game is meant for you. Personally, I just wish there were more games like this one.… Expand

    Detroit: Become Human delivers a story with a ton of possible choices, and a lot of questions for a player to bear afterward. If you like it when games make you think about them after you play them, this is the game for you. Stunning visuals and music score, make you forget about some weaker points of the game. But all in all, it is an enjoyable experience you should not miss.

    Detroit: Become Human looks and sounds great, and includes key player choices throughout, though it could have benefited greatly from a tighter script. While it’s commendable that Quantic Dream tried to cover hot-button issues in a big-budget video game, it works better when focused on the personal character moments than the bigger themes that don’t dig deep enough to make a meaningful impact.

    Although the narrative is fairly linear, there are enough branching paths over the course of the game to make it feel like your actions matter. That allows Detroit to still be fun even on multiple playthroughs – and for an interactive movie, that’s a rare praise. [Issue#231, p.68]
