Fells like a piece of poo after it was digested thru the someone that has no idea on even how poopy games should be made. I gave it a 0/10, death sentence, sry. Its a flop, fix it properly to pick up the shards. Get rekt.

RNG on top of RNG on top of RNG on top of RNG. PvP is ridiculous with lag. 5 shots to the head, all five hits showed up as a hit and do zero damage? Garbage game, waste of money even on sale.

Within a day of the release, people could already tell that the lack of character development, plot, story arc, or anything other than a mindlessly repetitive grind-fest. The AI is made of dumb bullet sponges, and the spawn enemies and spawn points were exactly the same every time... no matter how many times a new quest required you to play through the same tired levels (expect dozens or hundreds of times for some maps). Bosses are just larger and/or take more bullets to kill. No real change in strategy anywhere. The online multiplayer and coop have no matchmaking... so prepare to find groups offline.

I've never been more disappointed in a game that promised so much. And after the subsequent DLC rendered vanilla destiny unplayable... I kind lost any respect I have for Bungie and Activision who were previously my two favorite developers. It sets a terrible precedent for game making that you can massively under-deliver and coast on pre-orders, then pull content out from underneath the day one adopters unless they continue to buy up. This is my last pre-order, and the last game from either of these developers.

My main reaction to this game is the frustration of seeing how much missed potential there is for the franchise. There is so much more that Bungie can be doing with Destiny, and I was hoping they'd hit the nail on some of them with D2, but alas it's not the case. It's like no one at Bungie plays any MMOs that have really well designed customization and progression systems.

I should have seen this coming from Activision regardless who actually developed it because otherwise it's hard to imagine Bungie was actually involved.. It's the same boring, repetitive, unintelligent mess that has become (and continues to perpetuate) Call of Duty. No actual thought went into play testing, reflection, or common sense mechanical decision making.

A perfect example of everything fundamentally wrong with this game is the story. Clocking in at around 10 hours, it ends exactly how it starts- no characters, no point, no plot, and so full to the brim of watered down sci fi psychobabble every single loading screen consists of nothing but disjointed terms that mean nothing and sound ridiculous. "A ketch!", "Queen of bleh", "the darkness bluh", "A koris!", "Storm of Struvock", "The tinkle of flub"... I've read better science fiction on the back covers of JA pulp novels at the public library.

Once you finish the entirely anticlimactic story (not that you cared anyway), what else is there?

Well, if you've got a couple of friends and you like playing overly drawn out horde mode missions that you've already completed in the story campaign you might find a couple hours of fun in the "Strike" playlists. The first thing you'll notice is that most of the post game gear you have is now completely useless so look forward to replaying the same hour long boss fights over and over in the hopes you'll randomly get better gear just to play the same missions on a higher difficulty*. You'll do this until you realize you can get more and better drops in 20 minutes of PvP than you could in several hours of PvE.

*Difficulty is completely relative by the way as every single enemy in this game (besides the basic minions) has splash damage based attacks and no amount of armor will stop you from getting killed repeatedly from enemies who don't even need to shoot you. Enemies who's AI doesn't at all improve with difficulty, only their egregiously large heath bars. This all presupposed you have a few friends because good luck meeting new people thanks to the convoluted and painful "fireteam" system.

When you do find that drops are much more plentiful in PvP you can spend hours getting pissed off over horrendously lazy, mind blowingly imbalanced, shoddily designed mechanics in one of a couple modes. You have TDM, Domination, and variants of 3v3 slayer.

TDM is about what you'd expect from CoD- spawn in some random place and run around for a few moments before getting insta-killed by a jumping rocket, a hilariously far-reaching lunge melee attack, or any number of head-scratchingly overpowered "super" attacks.

Domination (called "control" here) can be fun if it wasn't for some of the worst map design in FPS history. No hyperbole- every single map was designed solely with spawn trapping in mind. There will be two points in a somewhat close proximity with direct, safe lanes of view to a third, proportionately farther away point. If you start on the good side and cap both close points, victory is pretty much a given as you can stand behind cover and easily pick off the enemy as they spawn over and over too far away to cap another point. Not that it matters when a single super attack can completely secure (or stop) a point capture with zero effort.

I wont talk about the third mode because ultimately it doesn't matter. The fact is the PvP side of things is at best broken and at worst non-functional. Watch in rage inducting glee as you: get killed by supers through walls, enemies mysteriously take no damage at opportune times, are unable turn your head to look around you (even with your sensitivity on blast), get stuck on map terrain, get match made 2v6, constantly have players quit mid match with no penalty, struggle to navigate map poor design, constantly fight with the most aggressive sticky-aim in gaming history (and still not hit anything), and drop dead before an enemy actually attacks OR kill enemy players only to watch them run around and shoot at you for full seconds before they finally die.

According to Bungie.net I've played Destiny for almost 24 hours stretched across 3 days and I've seen absolutely everything this game has to offer already; every mission, map, mode, and weapon. I've seen at least enough to know that there isn't enough content to keep my interest and no matter how much (or across how many modes) I play "The Crucible" it doesn't get any better.

This game is getting terrible reviews everywhere for good reasons. If you'll notice, the good reviews that attempt to dispute the bad ones are people who arent arguing the points made and just writing off bad reviews as trolls.

In my experience the game is boring, shallow, and repetitive. I wish I had bought the physical copy so I could trade back for some of the money I put in to it.

Repetitive- There is really only one mission over and over. Deploy ghost at a certain point and defend him against waves. Eventually you'll find a boss that is really only a bullet sponge and nothing more. The sword mission was awesome as it was the only break in the monotony.
Boring- The story is short and uninspiring. It has potential but is hardly explored. The voice actors seem to be doing what they can with what they're given. Why not just let Dinklage use his native accent?

This game is pretty good. I like aspects of it, but it also feels quite limited and I felt like i got the idea of the whole game just from the beta I played. Quite repetitive, but if you are playing with friends (even though its a limit of 3?) it is a lot more fun. Hoping this will tide me over until Far Cry 4 or Dying Light, but its not looking hopeful.

Not the worst but definitely one of the most uncomplete games I have ever played. Few levels, few enemies, eternal loading times, repetitive events with absolutely no variation. To be fair, the classic multiplayer PvP is quite fun but it's not balanced well. I wish I hadn't bought this game.

It's not an MMO, mainly because it lacks the first M in the acronym, Massive. The biggest PVP situation you can get yourself into currently is 6v6. Really? For me it's very typical of the COD style we've all become antiquated with and while it's a good style, Bungie didn't really try to do anything to set itself apart. The playstyle in Co-op got very repetitive very fast and was generally not very challenging. The 'extra' skills you learn are very generic as well and don't add much to the combat style since you're still just going to be shooting everything and throwing grenades anyways. I'd rather be playing CoD or Battlefield were at least the game play is challenging and ever changing.
I might be biased in giving it a 0, but I rate it lower than I normally would because I feel deceived by the developer and publisher. They sold this game as an MMO that you could explore the universe with and go into massive battles with your buddies against tough enemies, and it's nothing like that. It's just a borderlands clone.
The one redeeming factor I can mention about this game is it is very beautiful. Bungie has been good about making very visually appealing games. Maybe in the future they should just focus on their game engine and market that out to game developers, or get better developers in to work on their own stuff. Really disappointing, but not surprising for Bungie after coming off the heels of Microsoft.

The story is chalk full of cliche, and I can't tell if the game is taking itself seriously half the time. With an evil force known as "The Darkness," there is much to be desired if one was expecting a riveting story. Overhyping a game to high heaven and promising the moon, and then delivering a bland and average game with none of the features promised is just not right. In any other industry fines would be levied for outrageous claims, but in video games you can promise things that aren't even in the game!

There is NO LOOT. No chests, enemies drop NOTHING. You get items as rewards for finishing quests, and they are usually boring and bland, with names like "SINA JAGUAR 2.1R3". wtf is that?? A HELMET. Oh wait it's also a pair of pants because they have the SAME NAME.

Items also have the same art design as items from Runescape-- a free to play online MMORPG that's about 15 years old (meaning NONE).

Equipped items don't even change how you look. You can notice a few slight adjustments here and there, but the overall character model accounts for 65% of what you see, so everybody looks the same.

The menu design is horrendous and archaic, nothing makes sense and I still can't figure out where certain things are.

Gameplay wise it's really just a stripped down version of Halo. Areas are quite small, and every mission is exactly the same as the last.

The story is no "Cinematic Experience" as promised, but rather nonexistent.

Multiplayer is like Halo and Call of Duty, minus all the vehicles, cool level design, and tactical gameplay. Run around and shoot ****

If you're thinking of buying this game, all I can say is -- "SPACE WIZARDS". Yes, there are space wizards.

They basically combine the crappiest elements of Halo and Borderlands 2 with space, magic, and then dumb the whole package down further.

I guess I'm just saying that I feel like this game should have flopped and gotten everybody canned, especially the devs making outrageous claims to the press. But instead the hype they've built has just proven a new business model for the gaming industry-- that delivery doesn't matter, only what you can **** prospective buyers into with hype.

This game has single handedly made me quit playing video games. I'm done. I can't support an industry that considers this kind of garbage it's crowning gem.

Now, the game is not bad, just very mediocre. Destiny does a lot of things well, but its so safe, uninspired and lacking in anything fresh that it ends up being a jack of all trades, master of none. The game so clearly wants to be a Halo/Borderlands hybrid, but it misses the marks that make both series popular and falls into a strange gray area. It has the exact same identity crisis that Elder Scrolls Online has, in that it can't decide if it wants to be a singleplayer/Co-op focused shooter, or an MMO. It has MMO elements, but since there's no big PVP battles and the world is way smaller than it was hyped up to be, it hardly feels like an MMO, especially with no real voice chat. But, because it still has the gameplay of an MMO IE: Repetitive grinding and a severe lack of mission variety, it simply isn't as fun as a single player/Co-op experience (especially with no local Co-op). If your game is an shooter with MMO elements, but the MMO elements aren't used effectively, its just a shooter with annoying DRM.

Don't get me wrong, the core of the gameplay is still excellent. The game controls well, the leveling is satisfyingly addictive, the gunplay and physics are tight, the environments are gorgeous and the weapon customization, while not as deep as say, Borderlands, is still very fun. But that's the problem. Like I mentioned before, the game just lacks any discernible wow factor and leaves the player feeling like its all been done before and better. You'll fight the same enemies, in the same mission types, with the same objectives over and over and over again. The objective always seems to be: Fight off waves of enemies while the Dinklebot hacks into something, or Guard the Dinklebot while it opens this door. For a game that hyped itself up to be a game that will be the next big thing in Next Gen gaming, it plays it insultingly safe.

Maybe the most heinous sin that this game commits is that it lied about its size. The game was billed as having this massive world with an emphasis on organic exploration. Nope, its a mostly linear shooter that takes place in various indistinguishable rooms and outdoor areas. The story, which may be the most disappointing aspect of the game, is insultingly short. It took me about 7 hours to finish the story campaign, which included about an hour of grinding for gear. 7 hours? In a game that is supposed to have a 10 year life span? Are you kidding me? This game is hardly an MMO, more like a Fairly Sized But Far Smaller Than They Promised It Would Be Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter. It needs its own genre, FSBFSTTPIWBMOFPS. Wonder if it'll catch on... The worst part is, is that what little story you do get, is not memorable at all. Seriously, can anybody tell me the story or lore of this world? No you can't. There's no engaging narrative or characters worth getting emotionally invested in. I'm not saying that every game needs to have this, as I much prefer games that try to excel in gameplay, music and visual style, but its like Bungie suddenly forgot that they made Halo, which had both an epic sci-fi narrative and characters worth caring about. Most of the story is told by the Dinklebot, in a flat tone, as if Peter Dinklage was given Ambien and then forced to narrate the world's most boring documentary on space. Most of the sound design in the game, including the music is lackluster, which is a shame since Marty O' Donnell composed it, and he usually knocks it out of the park. The PVP is mostly worthless too, as it is horribly balanced, and uncharacteristically of Bungie, has very poorly designed maps.

Overall, I played about 9 hours of it on a rental and I got to level 12. I'm sure as with most MMO's, it gets better once you hit the level cap, but the game did nothing to convince me to keep playing it, and unless you're Zelda Twilight Princess, I'm not under the impression that games get to be boring for 6 hours before getting good. I've heard the game is also better with friends, but most things are better with friends, and I believe that games should be able to hold up as a single player experience. Destiny will go down as the poster child of overhyped, underwhelming games and should be a harsh lesson to gamers about pre-ordering games and buying into advertising hype. Because of the record breaking amount of pre-orders, the game feels stripped of content, clearly made to squeeze more money out of consumers with DLC and expansions that should have been in the game at launch. The best thing I can say about Destiny is that it's just another soulless AAA game that promised us heaven and drags us through hell, like Watchdogs, ESO, Thief, and Titanfall before it. For some people the core of Destiny is good enough to find enjoyable, but for people who haven't allowed themselves to be force fed the flavorless gray paste that is the modern AAA gaming industry, we expect better.

Can't comment on the story as I'm only so far in. Multiplayer pvp seems fun. Enemies are repetitive for the first few hours. I like to address the mmo crying I keep hearing. Bungie has repeatedly called this a share world shooter. It has elements of mmo and other games in it. Don't buy if you're expecting World of Warcraft with guns and an outer space theme.

I haven't tried hard modes yet but I look forward to it.

I feel that I am very lenient with a 5, maybe I am hoping that later part of the game will be better since I just finished the demo part (earth + 1 mission on the moon). The game is pretty boring so far especially with that soothing Peter Dinklage voice (put some emotions and do your GoT accent, man). And honestly, Bungie should done a better ripping of Borderlands: more loot and freaking scopes on guns, seriously f*** iron sights. And the whole social/mmo part of the game... yea that probably sounded nice on paper. On the note of PVP, if you plan on doing PVP, do not play as a hunter, the stupid golden gun is just underpowered when you have a titan or warlock doing their AoE type of super attack, it's like bringing a gun to a nuke fight. Waiting for the critics to post their review, they probably are all afraid to say this multi-million $ game is crap because it was so overhyped initially. Expand

This is a well made, fun to play game. The gunplay is solid and the loot hunting addictive. The game is rough round the edges in places, but overall is a quality title well worth your money (although perhaps not worth full retail price).

A beautifully boring and repetitive game. It's not an MMO, its Halo with a spit shine, a Borderlands rip off, grind, grind, grind all for nothing. Co-op isn't really Co-op, for a multiplayer game the world sure seems empty and the PvP is the same retread of every other FPS game. This game should have been a free download...

I was disappointed when I started harvesting ressources on earth when I realised there was only one and it wasn't used into a more intricate crafting system.

The enemy design is good, but the strike missions do get repetitive due to the lack of specific mechanics other than shootting / cover / clean adds / get bullets from dead adds.

There are too many loading screens, especially when going to the hub they're very annoying. The graphics are okay, but it's a bit sad having barely any control over your appearance, I Wish they atleast gave the option not to show helmet.

it's always full to look at the profiles of people scoring this 10/10, most of them seem to have a singular review, for this game in particular - nothing suspect about that. Destiny is the prime example of what happens when business men try to play pretend as creatives, spending more on marketing than actual product and think that terrible one-liners equals good gameplay.

To start off, its a fun game. Both the campaign and PvP are enjoyable to the point that it was hard to put down when I first started playing. That being said, the game was almost criminally overhyped.

I will start off with an explanation of the campaign. Its short (8 hours at a leisurely pace), extremely easy, and seemed to get samey and monotonous about halfway through. There also seems to be an issue with bulletsponge enemies kind of similar to the newer fallout games in the sense that you can unload an entire magazine into a single enemy and barely have them react. The ending, including the final "boss" are pretty disappointing and will leave you going "wait, that was it?". However despite all this I dont think its fair to call it bad or even mediocre. The quality of the game was high and the problems that I listed before are more of pitfalls of the genre instead of pitfalls of the Game itself.

The Multiplayer is where I think the game seems to teeter off. The PvP gametypes are lacking with only 4 being availible and are very small scale with 6v6 being the biggest multiplayer experience you can get as of release. It plays almost exactly like halo with the gravity turned down. In other words, the movement is REALLY floaty which isnt a problem in PvE but a major annoyance in PvP. There are also some balancing issues but are almost certainly temporary. The MMO features are pretty cool if kind of pointless. There is very little communication between players unless you are in a party with them but its still cool seeing other people just walking around doing their own thing.

However what has been hands down my biggest gripes with this game is the fact that it:

1.) Has no offline singleplayer - a HUGE problem for both people with unreliable internet as well as EVERYONE given the obligatory day one server issues. I understand that making it online only prevents possible piracy issues as well as item editing/duping that is experienced by the console version of diablo 3 but this hurts paying customers far more than it does pirates and cheaters.

2.) Has no splitscreen. Yes you heard that right. no local multiplayer, at all. A massive disappointment to both people who were expecting a more connected and expanded borderlands style game and to people coming from other FPS. What has been considered a staple to the FPS genre for years is absent because it didn't fit bungies "ambitions". It blows my mind that this would even be considered an unnecessary feature and is by far my biggest problem with the game.

Overall the game is fun. It does RPGFPS better than anything else ive played and I feel content paying full price. Only real reasons I didnt give it a better score were a lacking multiplayer and the limiting of options of the player for no good reason. Dont listen to anyone reviewing it as a 0,1 as I find it hard to believe that any game actually deserves such a score but also take any 9 and 10 reviews with a grain of salt. The game is by no means perfect and I wouldnt be lying to you if I said the game was sold on extreme levels of hype and marketing that either intentionally or unintentionally misrepresent the game.

They've also put such an emphasis on the dropping and looting system, which is absolutely and fundamentally broken. It just doesn't work. Because absolutely no one will join your freaking fire team. Everyone is either already playing with friends, or running around solo for no reason. This is an ONLINE game, and yet there's nothing cooperative about it. There's no matchmaking feature for joining parties to do missions with so you're out of luck if you haven't pre-arranged a team.

You cannot chat with anyone in the game world, further making it impossible to work cooperatively (especially during public events / world bosses, etc.). The only way to group up seems to be to run around the world trying to find any of the 3 people you might just find in your zone at any given point and spam them with fire team invites...That's if they stop moving long enough for you to even select them. There's no way to say 'hey let's join up', so you just have to send cold party invites which probably annoy people.

The story is absolutely HORRIBLE, who the heck even knows what it's supposed to be about. The voice acting is horrendous. The only thing the game has going for it is the shooting, but the missions are too hard to play alone so good luck even trying to enjoy that.

Where to start off... Where to start off... I have spent the last 2.5 weeks playing this game SOLO (only using matchmaking and playing with randoms without having a mic) every single day, doing most bounties, getting to lvl 28, getting a bunch of exotic weapons, done everything in the game except for the raid (DeeJ, you can do everything in the game, it doesn't have endless content).

In my minds it's an FPS with MMORPG elements, making it a hybrid of the two, but mostly being an FPS where you do the same stuff over and over to get better and better, where you will hopefully enjoy the game more and more as you get better at it and figuring out stuff. But after figuring out most tricks, you'll get constantly annoyed at the ridiculous AI, sudden appearance of enemies because of the absolutely terrible FOV and getting randomly killed by the classic modern way of doing position tracing, where the enemies will always hit you if you go at the same speed all the time. Even when you're doing lots of random actions which should avoid all of it. (The Shock Rifle is the dumbest weapon ever to be given to an AI)

You can tip-toe through a lot of the missions by running away from the battle, into "safe-zones" while being in a "darkness zone". But then you have the absolutely horrible way of dealing with those places in the Strikes. The game spawns additional enemies to "take care of you" if you go outside of the designated room, which should be closed from the start. The best example of this not working is in the strike "The Nexus". The trick here is, you can stay up on the tall ledge and snipe all the minotaurs to spawn the boss. While doing that, a SINGLE major minotaur will spawn behind you. Which spawns every 20-30 seconds, being easy even when doing the weekly heroic strike on lvl 28 solo. Then you can just stay up there, using a scout rifle, picking up the ammo you eventually get from that minotaur and complete the strike EASILY with a lot of skulls. This also comes up in the story mission "Scourge of Winter", where you can avoid fighting the boss in the end by just simply using a few sniper bullets to the head, then walk in, which causes the door to shut, which then causes all the enemies to get killed because the boss is dead. Easy peasy. The QA of these parts feels non-existant.

Speaking of the "story". As a frequent MMORPG and FPS player, I don't care about the story in those, unless there's something really interesting in a cutscene of some sort, then I'll NOT skip it. In this game, with absolutely no interesting story, no attempt at character personality development, Dinklbot saying stuff that doesn't make sense, out of context or is just a general blablabla of how every generic sci-fi story is made, I CAN'T SKIP THOSE. AT ALL. Not only did Bungie not even attempt a story, they are pushing the boring-ass cutscenes down your throat. That's unnecessary downtime. Having to wait for a useless cutscene when doing the same mission for the 3rd time the same day is not fun. Time is valuable.

Now moving on to the core of the FPS. The weaponry. All the guns, make the same noise. They're all the same. They feel all the same. The stats and descriptions usually don't match the actual handling of the weapon. Which wants me on to the worst part of Destiny.

Crucible. "Level advantages disabled". My ass. Not saying that the PvP is easy, but damn it's easy... IF you're owning legendary and exotic gear and weapons that supercharge the super, the weapons and everything. Why aren't those disabled? All of the perks you have, why are those enabled? Shouldn't those be classified as "level advantages" as you can't use exotic/most legendary gear before you reach lvl 20? Not like it's difficult to get to lvl 20, but it IS time consuming to get the gear.

Also I want to mention the amazing PvP experience.

Shoot someone until they die, but doesn't, then you trade kills even though you had a lot of health remaining, then you get the message that you got a kill 3 seconds later, then the game is stuck at respawning for 5 seconds with no explanation to why, then you see an enemy with a super, then you immediately die.

That's all of the bad stuff about PvP compressed into one sentence. The amount of lag is ridiculous. Battlefield got bad lag, but this just takes the cake. Congrats Bungie, you somehow made trading kills the most common thing in this game across all games. Do people enjoy that? I really don't think so.

And the expansions. No they're not expansions as they don't expand the game with entirely new areas. Ridiculous. They're just two mediocre DLC.

For some praise to the game. The concept of "Destiny" is great, just poorly executed. The Exo design is quite nice. Bounties, patrol missions, public events are also great.

To sum up. This entire game has been an annoyance and a continuous grind most of the time, which makes me wonder why I played it this much.

(I thought of checking the box for spoilers, but how can you spoil anything in this game?)

My main issue comes when I am playing PvP for the weapons you have are null, everyone is brought to the same amount of damage and my shotgun that I have spent much time upgrading is no different from a level 1 shotgun that you get at the beginning of the game. There are so many little things that they didn't implement, like voice chat or some sort of way to customize your ship and your story, and just left the game so bland. All in all it feels as if Bungie and Activision have much more ground to cover in their expansions or the game would flop. Expand

To begin with some of the good qualities that Destiny has the game has great graphics especially on PS4 and Xbox One. Secondly the firing of weapons feels good aiming down sights isn't too slippery or too tight,so shooting fells fine. Now on to the things Destiny lacks,Destiny has basically no story at all their is no characters you care about like Peter Dinklage as your Ghost or that speaker guy who could tell you about the lore and history of the game but chooses not too. Also after level 22 the game really starts to piss me off, to level up you have to get light which is found in armor only problem is That for some people it will be rather easy to level up for others extremely hard but why you ask? Because the game has a Random Number Generator meaning almost all gear you get in strikes, multiplayer raids is all random you could do **** in multiplayer like die 17 times but get an Legendary while someone does good and gets 20 kills and no deaths gets nothing. and the campaign the missions on every planet are the same your Ghost scans something and you go into horde mode and fight waves of enemies. They also have Grimmoire cards which are cards that you can read online at Bungie .com and its just story that was cut from the games that you can read online and some of it is actually cool like how the Cabal can move entire planets but that's not in the actual game because **** US! So at the end of my review i give destiny a 6 because it has fun multiplayer and strikes but leveling up past twenty is a **** and this whole game is just grinding so in closing buy Destiny when its 40 dollars or just rent it for five days just don't pay for it full price i don't know so go play Shadow of Mordor or read a book just do something fun before you go insane like me from pouring 30 hours of you life into Destiny Expand

While I did not follow the original press releases and hype surrounding it, I had enough trusted hearsay to take a chance. Again, it was worth the hours and $40, but nothing past that. I grew bored from the repetition and yes, every game gets somewhat repetitive, but Destiny became painful.

Story: Scattered, dismiss able, and shallow.
Graphics: Beautiful and varied, this game shone brightest here!
Variety: Please...5 or 6 multiplayer maps came up for me 95% of the time on the few offerings of game modes, 6 strikes (3 of them making up 95% of the 'random' strikes), and repeated, dull enemies.
Replay Value: Not long...10 years of content to come, but 2 weeks of fun, 2 weeks of frustration, and ultimately, a break up in the end.

If you enjoy it, good for you. If not, there is plenty more out ther to love!

Single Player- The story is somewhat of a back thought in this game , its not very prominent and very story driven, however saying that, the snippets of story you get are quite interesting, about the different races and the fall of mankind etc. The atmosphere is very nice aswell, now the game play, is very reminiscent of Halo and Borderlands, however the loot system is somewhat different from borderlands, i have only played as the warlock class so i can't really say about any other other classes however, the skill trees are varied with a choice of 2 sub classes , and different 'perks'. Gun customization isn't that in depth which is a shame.

Multiplayer- The PVP is my favorite part of this game, i think the 6 v 6 is a good number (others are complaining but i think its a good number with the size of the maps, its very balanced from my experience and the fact that in some of the modes level is abolished and everyone is on an equal footing, i played when i was level 5 and i was playing against level 15's and was able to hold my own which i thought was a very good feature.

Overall it's a very good game, it's not a game changer or the setting a new standard for shooters or anything like that but its a damn good game and i am enjoying it a lot

Its got the FPS/RPG from borderlands 1/2 only without the colour.

    Or humor.
    Or fun.

But you know what it DOES HAVE?! Brown and grey (Much like most games released post-COD4) and Bloom. "Next gen graphics" which still fail to stand up against most PC games from the past 3 years.

I honestly can't recommend it to anyone but console fan-boys. Its too bland and 'meh', something $500 Million in marketing maybe should of been put towards. Repeated levels. Same enemies. Bland gunplay. If it wasn't for all the hype then it would not have been given anything close to a 10/10.

Save yourself $60+ dollars and just wait for something worthwhile to come up.

The story is pretty forgettable and the PVP is extremely unbalanced, but if you're like me and like a pretty big world to run around with your friends and explore in for a few hours a week, then that's where this game shines. PvE is very balanced, and if anyone says it isn't it's because they're not being careful enough in battles, and they're getting themselves killed. Everyone that I've seen play that has died a lot is because they think they're invincible and try to punch everything to death.

The shooting feels great, especially the pulse rifle, which is my personal favorite. I use a sniper too since a Warlock shouldn't exactly be on the front lines very often, and it feels balanced because a headshot is almost always a one hit kill, and a body shot takes three to four on an evenly levelled enemy. I used the shotgun for the first couple levels, and it packs quite a punch, though for my class it was terrible because it put me too much in harm's way, shotguns are more suited to Titans.

The story is repetitive, but you only really feel it if you try to marathon the whole game in a night, which is very possible. If you stick to a mission or three a day, then by the next time you play it'll feel much less repetitive. An hour a day is the sweet spot for this game, two if you have friends to play with.

Just don't marathon it, you will get burned out and you will find it repetitive.

P.S. The Sparrow is incredibly fun to drive, I've spent a good amount of time just riding around and jumping off makeshift ramps.

TL;DR Play in short bursts with friends, and don't expect a life changing story.

The game has great shooter mechanics. which is it's only positive. it's bungie though, so what did you expected? they are the reason shooters on console are so popular. I just wonder how did everything else go wrong?

since I went through the positive lets go through the negative.

-bullet sponge enemies, every boss has high health for the sake of high health. it becomes a chore to kill bosses.

-repetitive strikes are the core of the game. every strike is "go here, kill wait for the robot thing to open a door, fight boss that takes forever to kill because it has high health" every boss feels the same too. they all spawn other enemies and they all just sit there eating bullets.

-the worlds feel lifeless and dead. they could have put the whole thing on earth and no one would have known you touched another planet. no humans are seen other than the tower. I'm sure people would at least attempt to scavenge stuff from earth.

    - story is non-existent. it's like a bunch of random ideas put together into a "story". there is no character development and you will see what you would think are major characters and never see them again! it's insanely poor.

    - poor character dialog. Peter Dinkleage is a great voice actor but the horrible writing kills his performance.

-Crucible is just boring. crucible is the pvp mode, it's bad. how the people who made halo messed up pvp idk. everyone has a sniper or shotgun because green (special) ammo drops like candy. map design for the most part is poor. vehicles are annoying more than awesome like in halo. it's just sad this happened.

-no mini map to see where you are going, the game worlds aren't big but they are a maze so getting to a certain area can be hard.

overall. destiny isn't the innovative experience people wanted. it's just a bad borderlands rip off with a crap PVP mode tacked on I am glad to see critics actually giving it poor reviews and people alike.

The games story is a joke, story missions have little to no variety to them and a vast majority of the dialogue is exposition, it's a shame the universe is very interesting. I just wish Bungie put a story in it instead of having story missions be encyclopedias.

Gameplay is very much like borderlands, with far less loot. Levels are decently sized, and varied. Space travel essentially acts as a loading screen, which screams wasted potential. When you land on the planets, or levels, they act as a sort of open world, and it's dull. Like I said they are large, but there is just no story to them, it's just an open world with enemies sitting in an area waiting to be shot. The game isn't skill based (unless it's PVP), it's level based, which was annoying for me. PVP is great, it's easily the best part of the game, very satisfying, very competitive, and very addicting!

The graphics are great, and they left me wanting more. When looking at the games gorgeous backgrounds I repetitively said to my friend "I wanna go there!" sadly I could not.

Destiny is just an average game, it's not next gen at all in terms of gameplay (no manual space travel or large planets to explore.) In the end it's a good game, but it could have been fantastic.

This game is repetitive. Read, REPETITIVE. Not only does it keep reusing the same old areas, but the mobs spawn in exactly the same spots, facing the same direction, with exactly the same "AI" every time. Your equipment drops give you more equipment that looks and behaves exactly the same as the last set, with small performance changes or color changes as the only discernible difference.

Even the AI screams repetitive. Have you played Halo? Then you're familiar with Grunts jumping behind a rock, then out from behind, and back again, over and over until you shoot them. That is what all the mobs in this game do. The "different alien races" you fight have all the same crap also. Minions that might as well just be Halo Grunts (since they have the same guns and AI), a few Lieutenants that might as well be Elites (except they use the same brain dead "AI" as the Grunts), and a few bosses that just wander around shooting as YOU jump back and forth from behind rocks.

Even the weapons are retreads. "Pulse Rifle" is a skinjob over the Battle Rifle. "Hand Cannon" is the old pistol. Even the "Needler" is redone with enemies firing at you. Jumping feels exactly like, wait for it, Halo. Regen shields? That's new. Oh wait, nope. Thank goodness I can buy a vehicle that... does nothing. Or a ship, so I have something else to stare at during load screens.

But the Multiplayer open world is even worse. Who the hell designs a "Social Hub" and neglects to put ANY way to actually socialize? I can hardly say that with a straight face, there is zero, zip, nada, nothing at all in place to let you speak to other players in any way. No chat, no "LFG" channel, no public channel, no trading, no market, NOTHING AT ALL. I can talk to friends off my friends list, of course, but I can do that during ANY game.

What a piece of crap. Do like I did, take it back to Gamestop right away while you can still get your $43 credit.

The game promised much more than it gave. Exploitation is limited and does not reward the player with items or in-game currency. He does not allow the sale of items when they exceed the maximum allowed in the inventory. Another over-hyped AAA title that turned out to be a huge disappointment. Graphics should not be a selling point in games anymore as the do not make up for the bland gameplay, and treadmill grinding the game revolves around.

This is a review to hopefully get the message across to Activision, and Bungie. We do not want anymore generic FPS games. The entire genre is dead, and nothing can change that. You guys at Bungie tried to get the tons of money by going to Activision, and by doing that every sequel you make for Destiny will be considered cancer to the gaming industry, just like Call of Duty. This game is obviously designed to make as much profit as possible, and I doubt you are surprised this game flopped. Expand

I don't consider this even to be the game, it is pure marketing product. Great engine with zero actual content and endless grind. There are FTP games on market right now which beat Destiny.

Totally understand why some people may not like the games if they got their expectations up too high but to rate it a 0 is just a sign of ignorance. Don't be stupid. The game is a sold 8 for anyone interested in an honest review, ignore the children that are unhappy for one childish reason or another (no games deserves a 0 and certainly not this one). It's certainly fun! Expand

Just terrible, nothing special about this game at all. The marketing department did a good job but the development team clearly didn't put in the same amount of effort. This game is gonna need a lot of time before its anywhere near worth playing.

For starts I am a seasoned Female FPS PVP Gamer, I expected so much more from Destiny. I won't go into how bad the pve was, you all know or are in denial or inexperienced.
    .
As for the PvP, I enjoy it but the modes, weapons and special attacks are nothing revolutionary. The matchmaking is horrible. As a lvl 5 with no gear you face lvl 25+ in almost every match. While this is good for end

While this is good for end game owning it does not lead to even, well balanced PvP. I do like the constant proximity radar that helps prevent camping but that's about all the praise I have sadly.

The lack of single player story/narrative is unforgiving. There is nothing to get exited for in the world of Destiny, just grind through enemies and fight bosses that can take absurd amount of damage.

This game is absolutely awful, not only was it overhyped. The game is so unbalanced even if it was good it was horribly made. I'd rather play borderlands.

The biggest con in video games history. P t barnum once said that a sucker was born each minute and Destiny is further proof of that. Activision and bungie are laughing and rolling in mountains of cash. 500 million day one sales, for an insubstantial bit of rubbish that's closer to dried bird droppings scraped from a shoe than to a playable video game. Well done gentlemen.

i have this very minute finished the game and i can assure you its a huge let down, i had to actually YouTube the ending to make sure it was the same thing as i just witnessed, its the same concept as every other. You get on your sparrow ride through, get to a gate deploy ghost, he does his business, fight some enemies, go through a gate, kill some more goblin robots, then you are presented with fighting 3 of the boss's (all seperately) with the yellow writing (you will know what i mean if youve played it) and they are the EXACT same as the boss's from the previous level and i think they are also EASIER to kill, once youve done that the mission ending timer counts down, you go back to the tower and speak to the speaker, he does a little speech , THATS IT, not even any end credits!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is the EXACT same as every other boring level.

the only thing i like about the game is the visuals and the levelling up but thats all pointless now, unless you fancy doing the same boring stuff in crucible over and over again.

You might see a trend here with the game - "repetitive" - awful!! - oh and certainly no replay value!

the second worst ending ive ever seen in a video game behind sniperghost warrior on 360. 4/10

Although Destiny isn't the brilliant start to a franchise that many had hoped for, it's a great game for those who can push through its flaws and enjoy the ride.

What is most amazing of all is that despite its litany of weird little problems, Destiny is fantastic, its combat up there with the very best, the thrilling rhythm of its battles still not fading the 30th time through, and it has no single systemic problem that is not fixable. [Dec 2014, p.106]

Destiny is a flawed but still extremely fun first person shooter. While the Destiny universe itself seems intriguing, the storyline is told in such an incoherent manner that it's hard not to be turned off by all the technobabble. Fortunately the co-op shooter mechanics are absolutely perfect. The loot system can be maddening, but in a way it adds to the game's addictiveness. [Oct 2014]
