Average game, not a MMO, think Borderlands with the same "want all the phat lewt" mindset.
So it may apear gindy, and unfair to fighting peeps who have grinded beter weapons to you.

Races are bit of a drag since there just reskins, besides the exo.

Game is fun if you want to play with a few friends.
I give it a 6 not good, not bad, just average.

Where do I begin in this game?
Firstly you cannot play it without an internet connection, which means that it is just as bad as the xbox one when you have to check in to play single player.
Secondly if you think this game is co-op you are sadly sadly mistaken. Each map or mission has a limit to the amount of players that are online in that area and sadly the limit is 3 YES including YOU.

Thirdly when you go into a boss fight it you and only you, no friends or other multiplayers allowed in the area, oh and whats worse is that a "ban on respawn" appears on the screen, which means if you die, thats it sorry you start the mission again...
Fourthly and this will take the cake, this game runs on bungie servers, which means if you want to play single player (remembering it requires connection) and their servers are down then, too bad you cant play single player.

This game sounds like watch dogs??? where it was over inflated and set out to be something that sadly is not.

Anyways it could just be me, whats your response?

It's a decent enough game if you disregard all the hype surrounding it. Does it change the FPS or MMO formula? No. But its obvious now that Bungie wasn't even trying to do that. They just wanted something for next-gen that they could be financially successful with, so they put the barest minimum of effort into the game and marketed the hell out of it. As someone who's played the Alpha AND Beta, everything in the final version of Destiny is what I came to expect. The world is unique and inspiring, the weapons sound great and there's plenty to do that will last you for weeks.

It might not be the game for everyone, but for me, Bungie have made another solid game.

I don't know, my score will range from 5-7 on this game and nothing more. I give it a 5 because I simply don't like this auto-aim type gunplay. The hype machine was strong with this one but unfortunately the game failed to live up to the hype. This review is based purely on single-player and PvE experience as I have yet to delve into the PvP content.

The main problem with Destiny stems from the basic pitfall which arises in almost any genre--it's repetitive, to a fault. Everything from the story to the gameplay to the music feels as if it has been done a million times before and that's because it has. This isn't necessarily a bad quality. Games like Diablo or WoW or even most MOBA games relish in their repetitiveness. The formula for these games is to hold a constant carrot-on-a-stick for the players to entice them to keep playing and keep advancing their characters. Destiny attempts to accomplish the same thing but misses out on much of the charm of the aforementioned games.

To begin with, the story feels rather uninspired and souless. Characters are not compelling and, while the history of the universe seems interesting and unique, seldom is the player actually made to care for it. To compound this problem, the plot is a standard "save the world" storyline and does little to deviate or revise upon that narrative. For Bungie, a company which is known for their elaborate and fascinating narratives, Destiny is huge step backwards.

The core gameplay itself is very solid, though not entirely innoative. Progression feels very fluid and natural. Players are given missions (similar to quests in games like WoW or Diablo), most of which are unlocked in subsequent order, in which they partake to earn rewards and experience. Again, the repetitive factor must be taken into account, as variation and innovation in mission design is stale and uninspired. The challenge to take down many mobs or even elite mobs seems the same with little variety thrown in. Most elite mobs wield extremely powerful weapons which force players to take cover every few seconds. This results in long and often tedious encounters and while there are technically three separate classes, their abilities and play styles all result in the same basic tactics--shoot until you are hit and then take cover to regen your shield. Rinse and repeat ad nauseum until the mob(s) is/are dead.

This boring play style is made even worse by the fact that the three classes are not separated by any unique play styles as should be expected from any game with multiple classes. This is where the real failure of Destiny lies. A game like Borderlands, for all of its faults, manages to accomplish the task of creating unique player classes. A gunzerker could run and gun and rely on life steal/extreme toughness to survive. An assassin could go stealth to get out of combat or into a more advantageous position. With Destiny, none of these options are viable. The only viable strategy is to take some pot shots and then take cover. To this end, Destiny is a failure of game design.

Still, the feeling of an open world, MMO environment makes up for some of the pitfalls. Groups in Destiny are known as Fireteams and can consist of up to four separate players. Players won't have trouble finding groups, even random ones, to team up and take on missions. This may be the one factor that saves Destiny from being one of the biggest blunders in video games history, as the game is greatly enhanced when playing with other people.

The other thing of note is the graphics, which are among the best of the next-gen consoles. Unfortunately, the same can not be said about the art direction, as most maps and missions take place in dilapidated or destroyed environments and buildings. Still, the graphical output is fantastic to look at and brings the production qualities of the game up a notch.

At the end of the day, Destiny is a mediocre product which offers little in the way of innovation. It has serviceable gameplay and a solid multiplayer atmosphere. Outside of these things, it's a lesser Borderlands (and for the record, I don't even think Borderlands is that great of a game either).

PROS: Great graphics, solid core gameplay, fluid character progression, strong music, strong multiplayer experience.

CONS: Extremely Repetitive, redundant combat tactics, limited options, classes feel unimportant, bland environments.

The thing is though is that this game will only get better as time goes on. They have created a game were they can add endless content. They can add different types of multiplayer and loot. Right now this game is a solid 9, but I believe it has the potential to get very close to a 10. There simply aren't any other games were you can just add endless content. The most common complaint I see is "boring, grind-fest, you do the same thing over and over." What were you people expecting? Mini-games? Every FPS on the market is repetitive, almost every single game is repetitive. Mechanics are in place, settings that allow you to play the game with those mechanics are in place. You don't play the same level over and over; the levels take place on planets which are each one giant map. You can play the story/strike missions, where you are led through certain areas of the map and certain enemies will be present, or, you can play the free-roam map where you can explore the whole planet while doing side missions.

The multiplayer aspect of this game is perfectly integrated. So, here's something people thought was going to happen; "You arrive on Planet A and everyone who is playing Destiny on Planet A is there with you." This wouldn't work with an MMOFPS; yeah idiots, it isn't an MMORPG because an FPS can never be an RPG! The population is split into separate servers for each instance so there aren't more players than there are enemies!

Destiny is a great game. It is a fun FPS, with plenty of RPG elements, set in a MMO environment. Before I hit level five I was in a party with two other people (strangers) doing missions together, coordinating against the mobs with voice chat. But, the trolls said that the game is easy, right? Well, games have this thing called "difficulty" where you can choose normal or hard, so by playing some missions on hard, we needed to be on the same page and we were! Wow.

It's so strange when so many people 'claim' to have experienced a game that is completely separate from the one I'm experiencing...the one that the people I've played with are experiencing. There are so many people on the internet who seem compelled to unleash their self-loathing, tortured souls onto the accomplishments of others. The same is true here, the press will give people out there a real look at the successes and flaws of Destiny; and I predict the average score will be in the high 8 to low 9 out of 10 range.

The people who reviewed the game and gave it such low scores couldn't have even gotten 1/4 of the way through the content. (Yeah, level cap is 20; but there are multiple end game raids that will take a long time for people to finish). My score is based on the content I've seen, (up to level 10) combined with my evaluation of the systems in place. Borderlands meets Halo in a persistent world (style of gameplay). Graphics are very good (For a PS4 game). The multiplayer component is easy to use and is very important when completing the end-game content or any content, because cooperative and competitive MP is fun... (Really people, did you expect Bungie to create a virtual-world FPS for you to waste your real life on? ITS A GOOD GAME, so go play a different 'repetitive grindfest' if you don't like it.)

P.S. I am mostly a PC gamer, and I haven't played a Bungie game since Halo 2; so I'm not a fanboy or anything like that. This is my actual opinion of the game, which I'm guessing over 200 people (at the time I'm writing this) can't honestly say.

Re-visit the same locations over and over in "Old Russia" and fight the same types of enemies. Sense of character progression is missing and nearly existent, despite the skill tree. It's missing all of the charm and fun that games like Borderlands 2 deliver on and feels like another generic shooter that's trying to be an MMO (eg. Defiance). In the COMPETITIVE mode, it is an even sadder story. You can not communicate at all to the competition or say "good game" between matches, and even more mind boggling - you can not even talk to your whole team unless they're on your friends list and you've added them to your squad as well. You heard me right - they thought it was a smart idea to create a competitive team game where you cannot communicate and coordinate with others, only your friends. So much for a connected game. The radar also shows you where every enemy is, all the time. So there is very little excitement and ambushing people in the competitive, and less challenge in the story mode. Please don't devalue my review or dismiss it it as being a "troll" because I'm not rating this game very highly. I wasn't paid to praise it so I'm giving an honest impression of what I felt after spending $60 on this product.

The game probably had a higher marketing budget (and funds allocated to expensive Hollywood actors) than it did for the game design department. Let me breakdown my impressions in a bulleted format:

    PROS:
+ Soundtrack: An absolutely amazing orchestral score makes the setting feel epic!
+ UI Art: The menus and interface art is reminiscent of Jules Verne and old-school H.G. Wells. It's gorgeous and deserves kudos.
+ Gunplay: Aside from a heavy reliance on iron sites (something that afflicts a lot of console shooters), the gunplay feels very much like it was lifted from Halo - which, if you're a fan of Halo, you'll enjoy.

    CONS:
    - Lack of Open World: Destiny is no more an MMO than Dead Island. The heavily instanced missions feel less like "planets" and more like a very small collection of maps. You select a mission, watching a loading screen, start the map and kill a bunch of enemies. Rinse/repeat.

    - Lack of Enemy Diversity: After hour 5, killing the same handful of enemies gets VERY boring. I don't feel any sense of progression when I'm killing the same Dregs and Shanks from minute 1. This feels exceedingly more awful as more and hours pass.

    - UI Design: Sure, the UI art is amazing (can't praise it enough actually), but the design is downright awful. It was clearly designed for a mouse pointer and yet we're playing (as of now) a console exclusive game with analogue sticks to navigate menus. The overall user-experience is clunky and needlessly frustrating.

The icons are completely arcane and I have no idea what I'm looking at when I see them. Since there is little color use, I'm left guessing what the obscure shapes mean...and I'd had better luck teaching myself Japanese. Also, why does my Waypoint vanish? Who thought that was a good idea? I'm constantly summoning Dinkbot so I can see where I'm supposed to go because the waypoint vanishes after a few seconds. That's an extra step that is completely unecessary.

    - Poor Mission Design: The formula become increasingly boring after the second or third time of killing swarms of identical baddies that act the exact same way over and over again. Since we're expected to do this several times (see: grind), the laziness of the poor mission structures really become apparent. I'm only on Day 1 of this game and I'm already growing bored with it.

    - Cringeworthy Lore/Writing: Peter Dinklage is getting all sorts of crap for his terrible VO acting in this game and I find that completely unfair - it's not the acting, it's the terrible writing. No amount of Hollywood star power can turn a bad script into Shakespeare. The premise is overwrought, the delivery is awful and I really don't even like hearing the creature names ("That wizard came from the moon!").

    - Boring Core Game Loop: Destiny feels like a re-skinned version of Borderlands 2 but lacks the addictive draw that game has: loot-chasing. There is no real instant gratification of seeing items drop from slain enemies and having to repeat the same boring scenarios only to receive a random number generated loot prize in a victory screen feels less compelling.

    - Reliance of Others For Fun: This was the game breaker for me. On more than one occasion, I was grouped with mute strangers that were either terrible players (stirred up the hive and then died, forcing me to contend with an increased difficulty curve of enemies that were often frustrating to deal with) or I was the noob that simply followed in the wake of someone else clearing the mission's enemies before I could even get a shot off. Both scenarios felt terrible.

    - Obscenely Long Loading Screens: these loading screens can reach up to a minute in length and when you're merely traveling from a menu map to the non-action hub location, sitting through the same spaceship cutscene loading screen again and again becomes difficult to tolerant.

    - Last-Gen Design: This game was clearly designed for the 8 year old Xbox 360/PS3 hardware because the maps have a lot of view occlusion (they're not as open as most PC shooters) and often feel hamstrung by last-gen limitations (particularly the number of players you can see, have in your group and can fight each other. The only thing you're getting with the PS4 version is an increased display resolution and some material resolution enhancements.

    FINAL WORD:
I'm angry at myself for falling for the marketing the hype (seriously, this game was hyped more than the World Cup). It's not an MMO Shooter and I don't see it having any longevity. I'm hoping I can get a decent trade-in credit for this game because $60 was a lot of money for me and I really don't like wasting it. There are much better games out there that you could spend your $60 on and not feel bored an hour into playing.

A huge set of worlds to explore, great weapons to choose from, plenty of upgrades for your character. What's not to like. It's was well worth the wait but I do think some reviewers do hype themselves up far to much and go way over the top with expectation. It's a beautiful looking game and deserves all the plaudits it gets, congratulations Bungie.

Destiny, Halo's and borderlands love child, what you expect is an epic journey with custom class and feel for a universal struggle between the Traveller and the Darkness what you actually get is something different, a horrid hide behind any wall while blankly staring at your shield charge bar to recover so you can go out and take pot shots a waves of generic "covenant" look alike aliensDestiny, Halo's and borderlands love child, what you expect is an epic journey with custom class and feel for a universal struggle between the Traveller and the Darkness what you actually get is something different, a horrid hide behind any wall while blankly staring at your shield charge bar to recover so you can go out and take pot shots a waves of generic "covenant" look alike aliens as they stand out in the open or wander back and forth taking pot shots, the AI is terrible in this game often enemies in cover will just sit with their head sticking out for no reason and wont run past certain markers in the game to prevent them from being pulled too far.

As for the actual areas they look nice of course but so much for this massive world spending the first few hours of the game visiting the same tiny little space-port as each return reveals yet another room in this epic warfare across the galaxies you will have to unlock to story corridor by corridor, same room after same room filled with same enemies after same enemies.

PvP/Crucible is a painful experience in a very small circular map, their is no real rhyme or reason to the flow of combat, supercharge abilities just one shot you or your enemy and its about as generic of a shooter experience as could be asked for.

The MMO-experience is wanting you see others but no point do you feel inclined to include them the controls and interaction and worse than basic with DC Universe leading the way on how a console should allow social interactions in MMO's, if you have friends playing the game it will increase the enjoyment but this isn't a game feature that's just playing with your friends and there are far better options for you to spend your money on to play together.

As for character creation was very basic a part I looked forward to alot but was let down very badly as about as basic of a face creator as possible not much else to say about this part.

Overall for the budget and hype surrounding the game along with the price tag its a total let down, generic warframe feel to the limited class options, 4 ability options for each class also screams warframe and the planetary mission selection and general UI is poor.

    PROS:
    It looks nice
You have have a orb that lights the way for you in darkness
    ehh. . . struggling here
    CONS:
Generic shooter experience with poor cover/Wait for shield recharge
Generic lifeless AI that just attack you in waves and do nothing in particular most times you can strafe and avoid fire
    Bland MMO experience
Social interactions limited with other random players
PVP experience is woeful mainly due to the base mechanics of the game and PVP maps are terrible little circles you fight in

This game is amazing and is especially amazing when playing with friends. Played the beta nonstop while it was out and still I'm having fun while playing the same spots now.

The beta was basically the early levels of Earth. They left nothing out so the first hours of the game are going to be the same if you played the beta. But the game is a lot of fun and can't wait to get to the end game content. currently level 14 and on the moon. still have 2 unexplored planets, and a lot of stuff that i need to unlock and upgrade.

So far I've played for 15 hours and some was just collecting money and finding remaining ghosts that are hidden around the maps. The people who played the first 3-5 hours and are complaining that the game sucks obviously didn't play the beta which would of let them know if they would like the game.

Also the petty reasons they gave a low score are astounding. No voice chat? that can be patched in later if people really want it.. Lacking in guns? well there aren't a billion weapons while you are leveling up and there might be in endgame 3-4 guns in each category that are BiS doesn't mean that the game sucks xD. I've gone through tons of guns before I find the type I like. its like borderlands where there are different brands of a semi-auto rifle and each has a different balance to it. one like jacobs has high impact (damage) but lower magazine and more recoil and slower fire rate. different elements on the guns also change the gun as well.

And while the abilities are lacking in variety per subclass you get two per class at this time. So switching back and forth will also change up your gameplay.

So far me and my friends are having a blast playing and i cant wait to get back into the pvp once i hit 20. And cant wait to play the end game.

I would be more forgiving if quest varied more in objectives, but they don't. Go here, defeat wave, push forward, defeat second wave, then go here. The content with each class is shallow, nothing really stands out to being unique. Single Player- The story is somewhat of a back thought in this game , its not very prominent and very story driven, however saying that, the snippets of story you get are quite interesting, about the different races and the fall of mankind etc. The atmosphere is very nice aswell, now the game play, is very reminiscent of Halo and Borderlands, however the loot system is somewhat different from borderlands, i have only played as the warlock class so i can't really say about any other other classes however, the skill trees are varied with a choice of 2 sub classes , and different 'perks'. Gun customization isn't that in depth which is a shame.

Multiplayer- The PVP is my favorite part of this game, i think the 6 v 6 is a good number (others are complaining but i think its a good number with the size of the maps, its very balanced from my experience and the fact that in some of the modes level is abolished and everyone is on an equal footing, i played when i was level 5 and i was playing against level 15's and was able to hold my own which i thought was a very good feature.

Overall it's a very good game, it's not a game changer or the setting a new standard for shooters or anything like that but its a damn good game and i am enjoying it a lot

The party chat being disabled, unless I'm wrong, seems disabled but I get why seeing as this is a social game. The matchmaking isn't bad, given this is Bungie who are renown for their involvement in console multiplayer.

What I found disappointing, maybe it's just me, but the gameplay is very repetitive. There is a bit of exploration but the agenda or mission is always set in a "Go to Point A, complete, then move on to Point B." The leveling in the game is rather quick, seeing as I bumped into max players within 4 hours of playing the game on both consoles. I get why because it's the loot that matters but my fear is that it won't be enough to sway gamers into staying in the universe that Bungie created.

The Multiplayer side, something I don't play much, is good and slightly refined from the Beta stage that we all played. Can't say much about it here seeing as its really up to the gamer to come away with their own opinions.

To close, I give the game a 7.

    Pros:
Graphics great on both. Slight edge to PS4 for its vibrancy.
Gameplay great on both. 1080p and 30fps holds good on both.
It's great game to invest in and really down to personal taste.

    Cons:
    Lack of story.
Leveling too fast may hurt in the long run. Seeing as this game is a time investment more than other games.
Hope of long term investment hinges on upcoming dlc and loot. May be a big gamble that won't succeed with all gamers but with a few.
Repetitive nature of the game could prove to be detrimental to its success.

    Summary:
Destiny is a game that truly reaches for the stars but I fear it may come short since a lot of its success hinges on content that comes in the future. A future that is about to become packed with more games going into the holiday. The repetitive nature could be it's downfall but it all hinges on the gamer and his/her friends. Forgive me for saying but another game that hinged it's success on content was Titanfall. Developed by a great team with the hype and promise that couldn't deliver before it's too late. Let's hope that's not the case for Bungie's first outing since their brilliant work with Halo. Take it as you will, keep on playing.

The game is setup with a home base where you handle alot of your RPG elements of the game, then you drop down to the various planets to continue the story, do bounties or the other various tasks they have in the game.

The loot system is pretty standard for an RPG with that addition of locked attritubtes that you can unlock by upgrading the gear. You use items you find while playing to upgrade the gear so combat is rewarding for more than just exp.

Yes, there are a limit amount of gun TYPES, but that doesnt mean there are a limited amount of guns. I used a sniper playing as a Hunter and I have 3 rifles that all act in dramtically different ways.

The story I feel is eclipsed by the gameplay itself. The game as definitely made with long term play in mind, and the story more gives you a frame of reference but its not so linear that its all you are doing.

I give this a 10/10 because it hit all the criteria i was lookign for in a next gen MMO RPG. There are things i would like to see, and that i expect to see in the coming patches/expansions, but even as it sits currently its a great game with a great future.

It's so repetitive, the missions are linear masquerading as open world. You cannot talk to the other Guardians you meet in the world, there is NO proximity chat AT ALL

The story of this was so fractured I look back on it now and it was really just a story about how Peter Dinklage can unlock or decipher everything for you while spewing a horribly cheesy script, I honestly kind of thought Bungie would release something better (expectations yada yada). There seriously was like barely any explanation as to who people are or what was going on, I'm not even sure there are any memorable moments in this game and the only memorable character I can think of is The Speaker and that is only because he sells some cool looking items which you need to grind for.

It's like one great big escort mission for your Ghost.

Let's just hope that the Bungies 'Biggest Game so far' and it's proposed 10 year life span change things up a bit, because I can't see a good majority of people buying this expecting a grinding sim.

    2) After 4 hours, the story seems like they put a lot of effort in, but it never captures the pure whimsy and exploration I expected from a game with this much hype. Granted I still have many hours to go before I complete the main story, so this point might not be totally valid.

    3) There seems to be very little mission variety. Almost everything is a variant of "go to this planet, kill some enemies."

    4) There is very little interaction with the game world itself other than blowing stuff up.

    Summary:

Basically, take the MMO-type structure of World of Warcraft raiding or Diablo 3's bounty system (a "home city" with equipment vendors, currency points, reputation grinds, etc.), strip it down heavily so that it fits the masses without the complications and depth of 25-man raids involving 10+ classes, make it a shooter, and make it so that missions are launched from a world map screen rather than a continuous open world. That is Destiny.

If you've played WoW's endgame and think it will offer the same sort of depth, expect to be massively disappointed. Likewise, if you think it has the same crispness as a Call of Duty game you are mistaken.

This game is good, but it's not great, and it's not NEARLY the game-changer that I expected. I even bought a PS4 just for this game and I definitely regret doing so. If you already own a next-gen console it's probably worth checking out, but if you don't, DO NOT buy it for this game.

It looks like Halo and plays like Borderlands, which is bad considering the huge bucket applied for this game. It's a huge disappointment for me. The multiplayer is so so, the "story mode" is boring and bland. The worst of it, by far, is the hype they gave us, for this? What a huge disappointment. A lot of the negative reviews are based off of people having misconceptions about what this game is "supposed to be." Let me say right now what Bungie has been saying all along this is neither Halo nor an MMORPG. This game is also not Borderlands. If you bought this game or are planning on buying this game because you think it is one of these things then you are mistaken.

This game is what Bungie is calling a "shared world shooter." It is a FPS first and foremost with a combat system that is similar to Halo. By similar I mean the feel of the combat is comparable to Halo as far as combat flow, weapon mechanics, physics, etc. However, it still feels unique particularly with the super abilities.

As far as the "Shared World" portion of the game there is not open world chat system, it is all squad based. Bungie did this deliberately so that the Tower and other social areas didn't turn into troll central. Honestly, it's better that way so we don't have to deal with racists and spammers in the common areas. It is entirely up to you if and when you want to team up with other players and engage in the social aspect of the game.

The loot is cool and unique and it doesn't spam you with loot like in Borderlands and Diablo. I prefer this system honestly since you will be leveling up your individual gear.

The world is open world in the same way that Borderland is open world not in the way Skyrim is open world.

Overall, if you appreciate this game for what it is rather than trying to turn it into something it is not and was never intended to be, i.e. Halo or WoW, then you will have a great time. One of the best games I have played in a long long time.

Sadly this game just falls flat on its face. It tries to incorporate RPG elements into a FPS, but doesn't flesh out any sort of character customization. Three very similar looking races and three very similar classes just does not cut it. There is very little exploration. A few nooks and crannies to crawl through, but the worlds are extremely small and linear when you take a step back and look at the whole thing. And my main gripe was the one-sentence dialogue for any singular topic. It felt like there was no real story going on.

As for gameplay... well... its "meh". Your average shooter with regenerating health and instant melee kills. There are maybe five different variations of mobs which are repeated for each enemy race. And all behaved the same. All the bosses are EXACTLY the same: glorified bullet sponges/regular enemy with more health. The levelcap is extremely easy to reach, I only played seven hours and got to level twenty. Its just all around "meh".

If you are looking for yet another generic FPS, go ahead and give the game a try. You might like it.
If you want the Sci-Fi action RPG shooter that was promised, save your cash.

With your talking flying helper thingy, and the character sometimes speaking, you'd think we'd get some banter, but no not really. And the news that Old Russia is the only explorable place on earth is just **** Come on, 500 million dollars and you have the first planet with almost nothing. Boss battles are either pathetic or extreme. Also minor complaint, but I can't stand the "Bungie" way of naming things. You know where everything is just named after something instead of just being original. In conclusion the game is little more than an overhyped Borderlands Halo hybrid that lacks in both of the games best aspects. The Good:
First of all the game "plays" very well. The Halo heritage is very much present, where close combat, dodging and weaving are integral to the experience to a larger degree than in many other shooters. It's a fast paced and very satisfying way to play an FPS(in my humble opinion at least). The visuals are nice, from a technical standpoint it's nothing revolutionizing, but it's still very pretty. The music is gorgeous and often helps kick moments in the game up a notch.

    The Bad:
All of the above only get you so far though. There isn't much in the way of story or variety. It's largely moving from point A to point B, often through the same re-used maps. As it's designed for multiplayer you never really get the heroic moments you would in a tighter singleplayer experience. And when it lacks the soul and constant banter of games like Borderlands there just isn't much left. Everything you have at that point is grind, and when loot and gear is sparse as well when compared to games like Borderlands and Diablo the experience drags on even more.

The online aspects of the game also feel odd and uneven. It's an always online game, but outside of playing pvp or with friends it feels largely superfluous as you only ever share open zones with a handful of people who usually mind their own business.

It is perhaps early to say where this game is headed, but I kinda wish I could have gotten my money back for now. My time is better spent on other things than this game in its current state.

What is most amazing of all is that despite its litany of weird little problems, Destiny is fantastic, its combat up there with the very best, the thrilling rhythm of its battles still not fading the 30th time through, and it has no single systemic problem that is not fixable. [Dec 2014, p.106]

Destiny is a flawed but still extremely fun first person shooter. While the Destiny universe itself seems intriguing, the storyline is told in such an incoherent manner that it's hard not to be turned off by all the technobabble. Fortunately the co-op shooter mechanics are absolutely perfect. The loot system can be maddening, but in a way it adds to the game's addictiveness. [Oct 2014]
