    What a disappointment !
I bought the game the day it came out without having played the Beta ...
I trusted the reviews on the net and I strongly regret it!
The game is still the same, we get bored quickly

Best ps4 game to date, graphics are great, the online is smooth and seamless and its great fun to play with a few friends. All the negative reviews on here are the upset people who choose to buy an xbox and are now stuck with a crappy system. Great game, worth the money.

I feel that I am very lenient with a 5, maybe I am hoping that later part of the game will be better since I just finished the demo part (earth + 1 mission on the moon). The game is pretty boring so far especially with that soothing Peter Dinklage voice (put some emotions and do your GoT accent, man). The storyline is really not that gripping: I don't really feel like saving the world, II feel that I am very lenient with a 5, maybe I am hoping that later part of the game will be better since I just finished the demo part (earth + 1 mission on the moon). The storyline is really not that gripping: I don't really feel like saving the world, I don't really feel connected to it. And honestly, Bungie should done a better ripping of Borderlands: more loot and freaking scopes on guns, seriously f*** iron sights. And the whole social/mmo part of the game... yea that probably sounded nice on paper. On the note of PVP, if you plan on doing PVP, do not play as a hunter, the stupid golden gun is just underpowered when you have a titan or warlock doing their AoE type of super attack, it's like bringing a gun to a nuke fight. Waiting for the critics to post their review, they probably are all afraid to say this multi-million $ game is crap because it was so overhyped initially. Expand

This is an exellent online experience. Shooter mechanic is great. It is very easy to understand and play, not like usual MMOs where you need to learn a lot how to play.Just try it - and better with friends - and you will get it.

A fundamentally capable and polished core shooter suffering from a lifeless world and lack of creativity.

Sadly, Destiny was doomed from the start to be plagued by overzealous marketing and fanboyism. It's almost justified, too; regardless of your opinions on Halo or Call of Duty, they're both immensely successful franchises and a game by the developer of one and producer of another was bound to garner attention.

Unfortunately, living up to its own hype was a tall order for Destiny. It's graphically unimpressive, fails to innovate on any core features and relies on a particularly bland, uninspired plot to push the player through its core missions. The conspicuous absence of universe building outside of a brief setup dialogue close to the beginning of the game is disappointing in a game purporting to be an 'MMO' FPS.

However, it does have its merits. At its core, Destiny is a perfectly solid multiplayer shooter, bearing many resemblances to Borderlands and in some ways Defiance. It controls well, the open-world segments - though obscured as 'patrol missions' - are fun to roam around, enemies provide 'cause for concern' if only rarely actual challenge, and progression is smooth and reasonably rewarding.

Worth playing, but don't expect to meet your next Game of the Year.

I'm failing to see how the majority of the negative reviewers came to the conclusion that Destiny was promised to be an FPSMMORPG. It was never, EVER advertised this way. It was never, EVER advertised this way. And their failure to expect anything more that a Borderlands/Halo clone with a multiplayer system akin to Dark Souls (Also, not an MMORPG) is a solid indicator on how little they actually understand system mechanics and clearly represented information, let alone how to critique something. There were TWO opportunities to play this game with the Alpha and the Beta, which were both solid representations of Destiny. Granted this was one of the "biggest" Alpha/Beta test, surely they played it, right? The pre-release gameplay footage alone was evidence enough of it's stance, but these people who deem themselves "reviewers" couldn't figure this out for themselves.

So now, I will turn my "review" into an insight on the intelligence of the negative reviewers.

In a nutshell, they are dumb f***ing casuals who can't even process CLEARLY represented information.

Unfortunately, we live in a day and age where "gamers" are a thing of the past, since gaming has become as mainstream as daytime television (See: Xbox One). Pewdiepie is the king of the retards and people are still enthralled by Call of Duty and GTAV is heralded as one of the "BESS GAYMES EVAHHH"

Several points I've seen from aforementioned reviewers are subjects such as:
-Limited chat system (Stops trolling and reduces excess noise)
-Comparison to Call of Duty (Is it because of ADS and sprint?)
-Comparisons to Halo (Totally justified, since Bungie spent 10 years with the series)
    -Not being an MMORPG
    -Being an online only title
-No story (Dafuq? It's told as you play, right?)
-Grinding (Diablo was a grindfest too, y'know?)

Sure, I can take a couple of those points as serious consideration to negatively review Destiny.
But a lot of these users dismiss every other positive aspect about the game, because of their disgruntlement about a feature not being what they "expect", even though the information is publicly available. Alas, I leave you to your own devices on which users to believe

So rather than believe that big red bar, stemming from sh*t tier reviewers.

Try the game for yourself, read up some information or maybe even rent it?
Form your own opinion, instead of listening to the ramblings of subhuman dimwits.
You never know, you may actually like it...

I DO think there is a ton of fun in this game to be had if you approach it as playing the same planet maps with the same mobs doing the same fetch quest type things, over and over and over as you level up in each area. For example Earth seems to be just one map, where objectives are in different parts of that same map AND the map is not all that big, definitely NOT an MMO type map, more along the lines of multiplayer maps. Along that same issue, this is NOT an MMO open world game environment, its very confined to above said maps. You don't "travel" anywhere as in MOVE in/through space, you simply transport from location to location, map to map. I expected so, so much more based on advertising, like actually exploring large open spaces that weren't crammed full of the same mobs from mission to mission, playing the same maps from mission to mission, with the only thing changing in my level number and equipment. There is no true single-player experience, with other players always being in the same "zone" as you. If you can forgive the very uninspired art style and level design, graphics and gameplay are good but everything else is completely lacking. FFIV is a better MMO, Borderlines a better Co-Op game, and they're countless better SP and competitive MP FPS games out there. It feels as if Bungie was completely insecure in everything except the graphics and Halo-esq gameplay.

Being Bungie I expected an epic story but it's not. It's very bland with horrible voice acting. Word of advice to devs thinking of using very well-known actors with iconic TV/movie characters as voice actors in games is a good idea. It's not. When trying to create a new character don't use someone who constantly reminds me of someone else. All I hear is a completely bored Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister). (Same goes for you MGS - it sounds like the actors try and take the character seriously...but they can't)

Destiny tries to be several games in one but In the end Destiny is a pretty bad MMO, a horrible Single Player experience due to the bland story, level design and lack of set pieces or otherwise inspired graphics, and an average co-op game. Also, competitive MP can be had better elsewhere.

It tries to be the jack of all trades and excels at none. And given the content, level design, and scope of the game it hard to imagine that the majority of the 500 million budget went towards making the game and not to marketing.

The way I see it Destiny sells you 4 games for $70 (in Canada), but MMO's are free, the SP isn't worth anything, the CO-OP and Competitive MP are probably worth $29.99 each but neither game can compete with their better peers in each respective genre. All I picture when I play this game is that meme with the dog in a lab coat and glasses with the caption, "I have no idea what I'm doing", especially in terms of the the MMO and story elements.. That comes across here. They would have been better off making a Borderlands clone but with a great story... This game was not made with confidence, gameplay aside.

If your playing alone don't even bother with this game and don't expect to make any friends as it's impossible to communicate with people. If you have TWO buddies it can be fun, but guaranteed someone is going to get bored with the repetitive nature and stop playing.

People try to downplay how good this game is because it has been marketed and hyped a lot but considering you can easily spend 40 hours+ just on single player without completing it and countless hours on multiplayer, I don't see how this couldn't be worth 60$ if you bought any other game this year. No this isn't the next Last of us, Fallout, Borderlands, or even Halo and it's not trying to be. Destiny has it's own unique story and that unfolds as you play in a thought out manner. People that tell you they don't understand the premise of this game are the same ones that get upset when an ending of a movie isn't clear(No imagination).
But don't listen to people on the internet, try it out. Rent it at least! See why this was the most pre-ordered game in history and will most likely be another billion dollar franchise.

Destiny, at its core, is wonderful. However, it's dragged down a good bit by quality of life issues, as well as a slightly lacking story.

    Pros:
+ The gameplay is lovely. It's smooth, paced well, and doesn't feel repetitive.
+ The three classes and multiple weapon types all feel different, yet everything seems extremely balanced. That, my friends, is not easy to pull off. Way to go, Bungie!
+ There aren't ten million statistics. It's easy to understand. However, there's enough there for min/maxers to still have fun min/maxing.
    + The graphics are great.
+ The music gives me goosebumps.
+ This game made me like PvE again. The AI is actually fun to fight, unlike the AI in 75%+ of other games.
+ PvP feels engaging. It doesn't feel like a regular shooter, thanks to the class abilities and weapon types. You can also get some cool loot from it! The RNG aspect of it is great!
+ The game gives you plenty of things to do. It may be considered a "grind" by some people, but it doesn't really feel that way to me.
+ Melee is actually fun. It feels truly powerful.

    Cons:
    - It'd be nice if there were some more players in the maps.
    - An easy way to friend/team up with random people would be great.
    - Some form of voice communication would also be great.
    - The story does feel a bit lacking, even though the premise is cool.
    - There is currently no way to customize your appearance after character creation.

(I was convinced to buy Destiny at the last minute (9/8/2014) by a co-worker. I have never played any of the Halo games, and I've only put a few hours into Call of Duty. Basically, this is a very unbiased review.)

Destiny has no IP defining characters. The gameplay is OK but it gets very repetitive. Every mission is playing through the same areas 4-5 times every on planet. It gets boring after the first 2 times you play the missions on any given planet and especially when you fight the same boring enemies every time. Character design has lots of options, but all of the options feel rather bland. Also, free roaming is the same as replaying boring missions but with no rewards AT ALL. Most of the weapons in Destiny have similar names, feel the same when shot, and look almost identical. The multiplayer is fun to play, but other than that, this game is very underwhelming. It felt like I was playing the alpha build of the game again. I have 20+ hours clocked into the game between the alpha, beta, and final builds of the game and this is an experience that I was really looking forward to, but I was very disappointed with what we received. By no mean does this game deserve that high of a score. I'm reviewing purely from what I expected which was a balanced competitive multiplayer, a singleplayer with fun and innovative gameplay, and a good story. Unfortunately destiny was very lackluster when it came to these things. First the multiplayer is too casual for any kind of competitive person. It doesn't take too much skill and it was clearly designed for the casual gamer. Next the gameplay to me felt stale. It was like call of duty at 30 FPS with space gun sound effects. Next the story is gripping at all. During the cutscenes nothing was really gripping and for even some of them I'd get up and eat a snack while the characters who I don't even know or care about are talking about something else I don't care about .The worst part was the repetitiveness of the missions. About every mission is go press X and let your ghost scan something while you shoot about 3 waves of enemies. It does that about 15 times in the campaign.

The game tries to be a little bit of everything. It has FPS elements, MMO elements, and other things but in the end it isn't enough to satisfy.

So, after playing the alpha and then the beta, it felt like Bungie was on track for a GREAT game. I never played HALO, but I read where there is a lot of comparison to HALO. After playing the final build for 12 hours or so, here's my take.

THE GOOD: Beautiful Graphics, Smooth Game Play, Free Loot to Find Hidden all over the Map, Free Roaming Environment, Great shooting mechanics. That's.....about it.

    THE BAD (soooooo bad)...

GEAR: You can't drop/share guns with friends, Requirements for higher level (rare) gear are ridiculous to accomplish (unless you have no job and no life...it's going to take a while). It does feel like ammo drops more frequently since Alpha/Beta, so that IS a plus.

MISSIONS: REPETITIVE GRINDING MISSIONS (OMG). You can fall asleep going from mission to mission. I'm not even kidding.

STORY: There is NO story. You go from location to location to complete a random (and often tedious) task. And you can expect to visit that area at least 500 times for more random tasks.

PUBLIC EVENTS: The public events are not balanced for the player levels on the map. I participated in two events and couldn't complete either one because there are a half dozen players on the map, and they all kept getting killed from being severely under leveled. Fix it.

INTELLIGENCE: Bungie said they tweaked and balanced the game. I don't see where. The AI is still very dumb. Creatures will see you, run behind a box and just keep peeking at you. This is something I thought would have been addressed but wasn't. Fix it.

VENDORS: The vendors sell under-leveled gear, and NEVER...I REPEAT, NEVER sell gear at your exact level. This requires you to (a) hope that gear drops from a NPC that you can equip while grinding, (b) choose to either buy low or high at a vendor, (c) complete the story missions and take the reward gear as you KNOW that will be at your level. And the vendor refresh time is RIDICULOUSLY long. Fix it.

In summation, this is a good start for the series but if it's going to play like (and compete with) Borderlands it needs to use some of the same elements that made that game so successful. Like many others have stated, this feels like another over hyped game that does not live up to expectations.

Here is exactly why. The game has precisely zero soul. It has bland, paint-by-numbers environments that look pretty but have no gravitas. The multiplayer is lifeless in terms of communication; I played for a good while and it didn't pick up. Thing is, even the moments when it did, it all resulted in the same thing - shooting at stupid, mechanical enemies with the same movement patterns over and over again. The lack of imagination in the AI is frightening given the budget and hype this game has had, and particularly the extended beta.

Biggest flaw, as a predominantly PC gamer, is the 30fps. Compared to shooters on the PC, the drop from 60fps is so noticable as to give you a minor headache. Yes, the barren environments are nice to look at it crisp HD and pop-in isn't an issue, but none of that matters with the overall jerkiness of movement 30fps offers.

Load times are horrendous - you're talking one minute plus each time. I wondered whether it was just my copy, but no, it's universal.

Gunplay is stiff and lacking intuitiveness. Again, I can see what they were going for with a "realistic" approach to movement, but it just baffles when you're hands-on with it. The campaign mode barely extends beyond what Titanfall offers; I'll admit this may be harsh and the game may open up considerably, but the lack of story and involvement of character here is worrying. Not once did I feel an integral part of this universe, and not once was I struck by any semblance of originality in this title.

Customisation is good, but it is in no way, shape or form an MMO or even an RPG; the closest I can describe it is akin to an action RPG like Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning bundled with a half arsed Halo.

What Bungie have tried to do here is commendable; reinvent the wheel and add a twist to the ridiculously oversaturated FPS genre, and I'm 100% sure that there will be gamers who lap up every Halo, and Call of Duty and Battlefield who will be delighted with this game and think it's offering them something different. But what Bungie have actually achieved is a middle of the road, pretty first person shooter which many people will be bored of inside four hours and won't feel the need to go beyond that, and will trade it in en masse, which is a shame, because it's just a fine tune away from being a solid game.

As it stands, Destiny joins Titanfall and Watch Dogs as games that aren't "bad", but it hasn't defined the new generation of consoles. The wait goes on for the true Metal Gear Solid/PS1 game changer for the PS4/XB1.

I mean look at all the Call of Duty games repetitive as ever yet many people love playing it. Destiny is delivered as it is, you can still solo through out the game which is much harder for those who prefer single player, and ignore people saying there isn't single player because you have the option to either choose to play by yourself or with others meaning there is single player and multi-player, where multi-player is fine as it is either playing with 1 friend or more up to 5 and or 5 other random people. The story is rich and unique, it's what sci-fi fans would like, it's more on the generic side but has it's unique parts within the stories. Game play is full of action pack, with different capabilities with the 3 classes, fun vehicles to drive around the map killing things, large maps to explore including hidden enemies, treasures, bosses and new area locations within the maps. This game no doubt is not a let down, but meets my expectation and I give it a fair rating of 8/10. The game is not perfect but is enjoyable, fun and can be competitive if your not a casual player. If you yourself owned a game company, you would try to hype it up as much as possible also.

So what's the game like? Since no one has written a decent unbiased review.
The game is nothing short of entertaining, it isn't what you would expect. So if you're deciding to play and expect an MMO FPS, you will be extremely disappointed. But if you just take it for what it is, you could actually find yourself enjoying it.
As a big MMO player and a huge fan of FPS, I knew it wasn't going to be some amazing revolutionary MMOFPS. So, if you just take it for what it is, as an easily entertaining game. You won't be let down by huge unrealistic expectations, like everyone else seemed to have, only to be disappointed and label it as a "bad" game, for that reason.

So with all unrealistic expectations aside, is it a good game? Yes......and......No. The game it self is a pretty decent and entertaining game. How ever it gets old fairly quick. Let me elaborate.

    So what's the up side?
Well, for one, the world is gorgeous, I don't care what anyone says, you can tell they put a lot into developing the world so you can feel immersed. The large variety of different armours and weapons and a huge array of skills is another highlight of this game, finding loot and getting loot drops is very exciting as you don't know what you're going to get, and could be something very good.

Trying to Level up is another exciting part, as you get something new each level.
"Quests" or missions aren't too long, which for me is a plus side, and playing campaign with friends makes it all that much more fun.

    So what's the downside?
Where to start? This is where I felt really let down, If you're a fan of the Halo franchise you would know where I am coming from.
Let's start with the online area called Crucible. This to me is where the game felt bland.
There wasn't much too it, it wasn't anything that hasn't been done before, I mean just look at Halo. Not only does it have the same type of multiplayer, but it's done far better in Halo. Destiny's online competitive mode really just feels like a down graded Halo, and there is no denying it.

The campaign also can get dull sometimes, especially when you're playing by yourself. The story is nothing special and I actually don't find it at all interesting......I'm also sure some people have a few things to say about no single player online....But I understand what they were trying to do, MMO's in generally don't have an offline play, but it doesn't feel or exactly play like an MMO, so this may have been a silly path to go down. There is many more I could mention but I'll stop here and let people figure out the rest for them self.

In the end it is a fun game to play, nothing mind blowing....but fun. Definitely deserves a solid 7. Thanks for reading.

It does have a grinding aspect to it which is not common in console shooters but if you manage to get yourself past that it is a fresh next generation experience.

Fun at first for maybe a few minutes but everything about this game is repetitive. The scenery and graphics are the only positive for me and even those aspects don't break any new ground.

destiny is a good game but was over hyped i personally think borderlands 2 was a better game because it had a better story line. i have played around 5 hours of the game and think it is starting to get repetitive. this game is kind of like a borderlands halo crossover.

    1. Over 50% of the reviewers are people who just log on to post negative reviews regarding things. Click on some of their names and see.

    2. People expected a Halo clone. Hellllloooo? Bungie left Halo because they were done with it. They said from the start that this would be more similar to an MMOFPS than Halo.

    3. "Voice chat is limited/people don't talk." Then why did you get it on PS4 and not XBOX? Having both a PS3 and an Xbox 360 for years, Xbox is far noisier when it comes to people talking. Granted it's mostly kids but... Also, voice is in the game. That's all Bungie needed to do. The fact that it's limited does not matter.

    4. "It doesn't have an offline mode." This shouldn't even be a complaint. You knew this was coming from day one.

    5. "We have to shoot the same enemies, all the time." This complaint is coming from the same people who expected a Halo clone...where all you do is shoot the same enemies...all the time....on different little maps...talk about finding fault with everything...

    6. "I've played for 15 hours and I'm bored." No you haven't. When these complaints came out this morning, the game had been released for literally 6 hours. Plus, this is geared toward an MMO. Have you ever played an MMO for 6 hours and quit because it was a bump and grind? I don't think so. There's a leveling process. In every RPG type game. If you played WoW for 6 hours at launch, every quest was fetch and kill, and you'd barely hit level 10 in that time (Cap was 60). How about you actually play the game and see?

Seriously...put in some time and effort...even Bungie said be weary of day one reviews. Sigh, sucks to be impatient I guess.

This game is worth the money...pick it up.

My experience with game playing solo was completely different from when I had friends to play with during the beta (they were unimpressed by the beta, so they passed). It's particularly frustrating to see other human players on the map but there's no open chat channel so I'm unable to communicate with anyone, so it like playing with bots.
On the plus side I do like the skill trees and the amount of customizable weapons and gear. The use of the Tower as a hub to acquire new gears, bounties, etc was enjoyable - but again, I found myself frustrated seeing so many players but there was no way to get a few together for a fire-team to go on some missions.
If I had bought this on disc I would be trading it in tomorrow, so this has also made me re-think pre-ordering AAA games digitally going forward.

Yes the graphics are pretty, especially on a 10 year old PS3, but it's still a very repetitive shooter, where you're supposed to shoot tons of spawned enemies.
To add more to the insult, this is on a console, where aiming is painfully crippled, compared to a PC.
If they indeed wanted to focus as much on consoles, they should have though the core mechanics of the gameplay through a little bit more...
I am happy to change my score and the game is likely to improve over time, but at the moment, there is no reason to rush out and pay the premium for a launch title.

To start off, its a fun game. Both the campaign and PvP are enjoyable to the point that it was hard to put down when I first started playing. That being said, the game was almost criminally overhyped.

I will start off with an explanation of the campaign. Its short (8 hours at a leisurely pace), extremely easy, and seemed to get samey and monotonous about halfway through. There also seems to be an issue with bulletsponge enemies kind of similar to the newer fallout games in the sense that you can unload an entire magazine into a single enemy and barely have them react. The ending, including the final "boss" are pretty disappointing and will leave you going "wait, that was it?". However despite all this I dont think its fair to call it bad or even mediocre. The quality of the game was high and the problems that I listed before are more of pitfalls of the genre instead of pitfalls of the Game itself.

The Multiplayer is where I think the game seems to teeter off. The PvP gametypes are lacking with only 4 being availible and are very small scale with 6v6 being the biggest multiplayer experience you can get as of release. It plays almost exactly like halo with the gravity turned down. In other words, the movement is REALLY floaty which isnt a problem in PvE but a major annoyance in PvP. There are also some balancing issues but are almost certainly temporary. The MMO features are pretty cool if kind of pointless. There is very little communication between players unless you are in a party with them but its still cool seeing other people just walking around doing their own thing.

However what has been hands down my biggest gripes with this game is the fact that it:

1.) Has no offline singleplayer - a HUGE problem for both people with unreliable internet as well as EVERYONE given the obligatory day one server issues. I understand that making it online only prevents possible piracy issues as well as item editing/duping that is experienced by the console version of diablo 3 but this hurts paying customers far more than it does pirates and cheaters.

2.) Has no splitscreen. Yes you heard that right. no local multiplayer, at all. A massive disappointment to both people who were expecting a more connected and expanded borderlands style game and to people coming from other FPS. What has been considered a staple to the FPS genre for years is absent because it didn't fit bungies "ambitions". It blows my mind that this would even be considered an unnecessary feature and is by far my biggest problem with the game.

Overall the game is fun. It does RPGFPS better than anything else ive played and I feel content paying full price. Only real reasons I didnt give it a better score were a lacking multiplayer and the limiting of options of the player for no good reason. Dont listen to anyone reviewing it as a 0,1 as I find it hard to believe that any game actually deserves such a score but also take any 9 and 10 reviews with a grain of salt. The game is by no means perfect and I wouldnt be lying to you if I said the game was sold on extreme levels of hype and marketing that either intentionally or unintentionally misrepresent the game.

I watched a guy on there live streaming Destiny today for a good 9 hours and I have to be honest, this game is boring as hell. Oh, and I have no idea what the game is about. Lore? Sure lots of it - just never see it. Aka: BS. Remember this:

Destiny is Halo without a story.

Remember that kids because it's going to be said many times by many people over the next few months. The reviewers know that its a mediocre game but they have to hold back on reviewing it formally to give Bungie a few more sales - because they (the reviewers helped to convince us that this game would be amazing). But don't fall for it guys, there's nothing more to this game and I guarantee the reviewers (barring a few good ones) will come out giving this 9/10+...just like they did with Titanfail - and this is worse.

And before anyone says: "hey man you gotta give this game more time", all I ask is (a) "when have reviewers ever given more than a day to review the game and held off because a developer asked them to" and (b) "who needs more than 9 hours to determine whether a game sucks"? If it honestly takes me more than an hour to figure out that a game blows, then I think I've got bigger problems than a crappy game.

I'm not saying that it's a zero - it's not. But it honestly plays exactly like Halo with some minor customization (albeit irrelevant because all 3 classes play exactly the same way) and even has the same kiddie looking enemies (bright colors, etc.) just like Halo. But there's the problem - we were told it was going to revolutionize gaming. People won't forget that. It's betrayal. Consequently, I think this one will go down as the BIGGEST letdown and marketing fist-**** that has ever been released in the history of gaming - bigger than Aliens Colonial Marines. Companies will be sued.

$500 Million to make this? Let me rephrase that: half a BILLION duckets. Where do you think they're coming from? Check your wallet and keep it in your pocket. Do not buy.

This is the definition of white-collar fraud in the 21st century.

Which is exactly why I went in with a bit of hopefulness this morning, but only expecting mediocrity really, and that's exactly what I got.

Unfortunately, many of the negatives have called it, even if the "0" is a bit much. Repetitive, stale feeling FPS, with questionable multiplayer design (mainly chat), shallow story, and unimaginative game play that at times subjects the player to all of the "fun" of a MMO grind fest without really being a MMO.

To be fair, if you're one of those people that just loves playing the same level of Halo over and over, you'll probably get your money's worth, but if you're looking for something much more than that, you'll likely not find it in Destiny. Yet another over hyped, but under delivered attempt at "Redefining gaming for the next gen."

I'm giving it a 5. It's not awful. It's just meh. Rent or play a friend's before forking up your own money. A definite gamble on mediocrity.

No-Offline - I have only had one disconnect and I think it was because my internet actually went out. Nothing to do with the servers. You can play solo with other people around and based on the open world field, it is better to see people hunting around you. They don't mess up playing solo (which is something I enjoy) but you definitely will have benefits playing with friends.

No in-game chat - this is a huge draw back. If a game like BF4 could make this work, albeit glitchy, I am sure Activision and Bungie could have made this happen - so why not? It really makes coordinating a random Fireteam difficult because if you want to join up with someone you meet in game while questing or farming, you need to become PSN friends.

Sound - Using my Wireless Gold Headset, this game sounds terrific.

Gameplay - I would say nothing terribly new but why fix it, if it ain't broken.

Quests - When patrolling, I have found that I can randomly get assigned a quest that is well above my level. I am not sure if this is by design or a mistake, but it can send the game to a crawl. Haven't figured out if I can simply drop these questions so I don't have to run through a zone of bad guys who will one shot me.

Public Events - Incredibly fun but can be a complete butt-hurt episode if not enough people are around.

Those are the things that stick out in my mind. I am sure I will come back and give it a final review way down the road, but for now if you are trying to decide, it is not a Halo remake, it is not a Borderlands Clone, and its not some hybrid. It is a pretty good game worth a pick-up because I guarantee you will put well over 100 hours into this before you realize it.

Most of my time spent walking around it's meaningless environments I can't help but think that this is some kinda of beta and the actual game with content will release soon. The only hint of a story line is the ghost character that narrates along with some of the most boring gameplay I have experienced.

Gameplay is simply run to point A kill people, run to point B kill people and then fight a boss at C to magically and abruptly finish literally each and every mission. The repetition is so awful and each planet feels like a firing range scattered with bad guys who respawn in the same spots every few minutes. The gameplay is extremely uninspiring it could infact be the ultimate cliche of shooters since there inception. I can't understand how Bungie could release such a lame duck when compared to their previous Halo Franchise.

AI behavior is laughably brain dead and the only reason they pose a challenge is due to the number of enemies thrown your way or the amount of health the stronger types have. The only reason to ever play this game is to equip your character with better gear. Be prepared to repetitively play the same dull scenarios over and over just to get a better item. If killing the same enemies for hours to get a new gear piece is your idea of fun then you will be at home. The competitive multiplayer is the games saving grace but once again it is nothing to write home about. Everything in competitive multiplayer has been done to death as it offers nothing new to the table and I'm sure most players will put it down once that new game sensation wears off.

Overall Destiny is a pathetic cash crab by Bungie in my opinion. I would be the first person to sing this games praises if actually was a real game. However as of now this game is an absolute joke and easily one of the worst games I have ever played.

Excellent videogame, just like the beta. It is really fun, if grinding is not for you and you don't like to explore maps and just go full story or pvp, this game is not for you.

I cannot believe IRONDUKE doesn't love this game. This has been the next gen experience. These trolls need to knock it off. The game hasn't even been out for 24 hours. Go review ME3.

I though this would be innovative new fps game, but it's not..
It's just another repetitive shooter, go to point A, kill a wave of enemies, go to point B and do the same.
The customization is also really limited, only the graphics and the sound are good.

Don't recommend this. It's like WOW meets poor COD maps with nods to Killzone and Halo but it does not deliver it's promise. Too much fuss about how it looks, they forgot to add a story. It's too repetitive, boring missions and enemy patterns are too similar. You can't talk in multiplayer, the multiplayer is very poor. I honestly didn't want to review this. Really. The sheer amount of HYPE given by the media and close friends made it depressing when I saw the gameplay trailers. Still, I put my cash down and got myself a copy!

Oh boy, was that a bad choice. ~8.5ish hours later and I just can't see the point. Its some sort of 'FPSMMO', and by MMO it means

Oh boy, was that a bad choice. ~8.5ish hours later and I just can't see the point. Its some sort of 'FPSMMO', and by MMO it means "FPS-with-a-hand-full-of-people-so-it-still-feels-empty."
Its got the FPS/RPG from borderlands 1/2 only without the colour.

    Or humor.
    Or fun.

But you know what it DOES HAVE?! Brown and grey (Much like most games released post-COD4) and Bloom. "Next gen graphics" which still fail to stand up against most PC games from the past 3 years.

I honestly can't recommend it to anyone but console fan-boys. Its too bland and 'meh', something $500 Million in marketing maybe should of been put towards. Repeated levels. Same enemies. Bland gunplay. If it wasn't for all the hype then it would not have been given anything close to a 10/10.

Save yourself $60+ dollars and just wait for something worthwhile to come up.

Although Destiny isn't the brilliant start to a franchise that many had hoped for, it's a great game for those who can push through its flaws and enjoy the ride.

What is most amazing of all is that despite its litany of weird little problems, Destiny is fantastic, its combat up there with the very best, the thrilling rhythm of its battles still not fading the 30th time through, and it has no single systemic problem that is not fixable. [Dec 2014, p.106]

Destiny is a flawed but still extremely fun first person shooter. While the Destiny universe itself seems intriguing, the storyline is told in such an incoherent manner that it's hard not to be turned off by all the technobabble. Fortunately the co-op shooter mechanics are absolutely perfect. The loot system can be maddening, but in a way it adds to the game's addictiveness. [Oct 2014]
