Have you played Destiny 1? Then you have played Destiny 2. I bought this for 27 and still feel like I should have bought a different game. Not bad, but not innovative or a compelling edition to the series.

Shooting is fine but as a new game experience it's just boring and doesn't feel like it's worth the time. Especially if you played previous part.

Destiny 2, oh how the sequel lives to a limited imagination. I loved the first and all it's following expansions, that was a good game, no overhaul in micro-transactions or the constant let down of rich content, you jump in to original Destiny, and you'll find yourself having a good time, what a shame the sequel could not quite keep the same standards.

The story was good, the visuals improved and the layout of the HUD was smooth and clean, but narrative and visuals are nothing once squandered by the perilous antics of transactions and one time consumables. The let down for Destiny 2 is nothing really in the game core itself, more of the virtual shop within it, buying gems or what not is nothing new in games, and buying them to purchase paying only exclusives isn't either, but this game had no need for it.

I won't say all the bad points, read other player reviews, but beside the bad points there is some light, the story is good, and I mean good, there is a lot of connection between the characters, that was seen in the original, the new antagonist is amazing and the overall direction of the story is great.

The more open world environments is a neat addition, the ability to explore and play small missions and get new gear is fun, the secrets you unravel the enemies you fight all wrapped up in a beautiful world is well worth exploring.

Combat is much the same, the classes are altered in their abilities, but that's good as it allows for a more unique experience, I've not played strikes or crucible yet (down to the fact of PS Plus, highly against that), but i would think they would be improved from the last game.

On a final note there is downsides to Destiny 2 and there are upsides to it, as there are with many games, but if you're looking for clean crisp gun combat and a story that doesn't stray in to confusion, then consider giving Destiny 2 ago.

soundtrack.then theres this abomination.like who in the hell at bungie thought hay lets take verything great about the first game and get rid of it completely and if you disagree well they removed the difficulty changer, 6v6, 4v4, rumble free for all, mayhem pvp, strike modifier, secondary weapons heavy and special ammo, replayable missions, strike specific loot, unique exotic and legendary weapons, random weapon perks, amour perks, customisable subclases, private matches, fun boss battles where you can melt the boss but the boss can also melt you and not just do a it of damge spawn so adds and go immune rince and repeat, having all the end game activities give good loot and the lower difficulty activities give you weaker gear not the other way around, faction reps, gunsmith weapons, having ships, sparrows and shaders be earned through game play not the eververse, having enemies that are tough and chalanging for anyone except a foetus, the cosmodrome in Russia , the ocean of storms on the moon, the Ishtar collective on venus, the meridian bay on mars, the dreadnought, t he plague lands on earth, siav an entire enemy race, a voiced character.now this could all be slightly forgivavle if everything they added wasn't terrible.they promoted the game with 4 new locations one of wich being the biggest they ever made that being the europian dead zone (the EDZ) now the edz isn't actualy that big as in reality its just a massive donut with fast travel points everywhere so you will only see about 5 or 6 little areas in it and 2 of the planets io and titan are tiny and are empty baron wiats with nothing in along with that io is just an ugly rock with a terrible colour palet the other planet is Nessus that in my opinion is the only decent one as it isn't just a donut it actualy uses all the space its presented with and has a nie colour pallet and is visualy impressive.now this game says it has an epic and cinematic story well it dosnt its story is about as good as the original if not worse its just dumbed down and stripped of potential unlike the original and gives us a likeable character cayde 6. now him being a fan favorite he was featured heavily in the marketing and I was really let down when I found out hes is only in a handful of cutscenes and 2 missions.now this game being a looter shooter you would expect it ot have lot of looting that it does but because all the loot is so similar due to fixed perks and how legendarys and exotics are just thrown away as if they are the effort bungo put into this game all the loot is really boring but there is still the gunplay now it is very similar to first game in this it feels soooo boring due to all the guns feeling the same where as in destiny 1 due to all the guns felling and perks being extremely varied it felt o fun to shoot mone gun switch to another and have it feel so much more different was amzing now its just sort of press buton gun fires shot.now the pvp in the first game was so fun and thrilling and hasd a skill gap but also was fairly unbalanced now in destiny 2 they have removed nay semblance of fun or variation in the pvp as all it is is just team shotting then supers being spammed at the end of a match noq th game is statisticaly a bit more balanced but in the end there its not worth it as its just so boring and in diverse as well as that the monthly pvp event iron banner not only did they retcon an entire year of the first game it had some of the most terrible and unrewarding loot drops dor what was supposed to be an endgame activity and I say supposed because they removed level advantages from all pvp in the game iron banner and trials of Osiris or trials of the nine as it is now called so they are just sweaty boring pvp matches that are extremely unrewarding.now in every destiny game/expansion there is allways a raid and bungo delivered one of the most boring raids yet with some really dumb mechanincs especialy when compared to things like kings fall and vault of glass and not only that the raid has one boos at the very end and when you finaly kill him all you get is one gun one piece of armour and a few tokens and oh yeah screw rep gains now you have little circles that you give to an nps for a reskin of a gun you got 10 minutes ago.aswell as all this bungo remove the grimiore cards that where the first games way of explaining lore oney you had to go to there website to read them this time round they removed it and said they would put it in the game yeah they didn't they just removed lore from the entire game.at the end of the day destiny 2 is a looter shooter with boring and easy to aquire loot and boring and easy shooting full of scumy microtrnasactions that have small bits of lore attached to them Expand

Destiny 1 was one of the best games I've ever played. It was repeatative, it was grindy, but it was damn good. Destiny 2 lost all the charm of the ancestor. It's too casual, the grind became boring (lol). The raid is a solid piece of disapointment and it's very bad in general. Curse of Osiris even made it worse. Pity

When I played Destiny 1 years ago I said at the time that it was an Excelent Multiplayer. Now, this is like the first 1 but improved noticeably. So, both game are very good. Now, when I played the first one I remember I struggled because I didn't play many shooters back then. And the guides on GameFAQs though very extensive thay dealed mostly with the game like how to progress through levels, but it didn't actually teach or give clues on how to play a shooter. So, if you are a bit like me having not much experience with shooters well I can help, but just a tiny little bit. I've written a FAQ on GameFAQs not on Destiny but on Call of Duty Black Ops 4. So, if you look there for a Blackout guide you find it under this same username. On the Weapons section I give very little comments on each weapon type. Though very little it's better than nothing especially for someone completely in the dark.

Now, that's it. I really enjoyed the game and I may update this text in the future as I plan to play the expansions including Forsaken. I'm really looking forward to it, it looks promising and I've heard that it's great indeed. So, this just covers the base game. And if you read my guide on GameFAQs please don't forget to click the "YES" button if you enjoyed it :-)

And regarding the guide that's something interesting. I love GameFAQs, but for those in need of a tutorial on how to play shooters, or any genre, like racers or RPGs you don't have that in GFAQs. So, Ihave to refer a guide for a specific game to cover the basics. I think it would be interesting if GFAQs included a section on "General FAQs". Not guides for specific games but rather guides on how to play specific game genres like a mentioned shooters, racers, RPGs, MMOs and on. I'm not sure GFAQs has that and I'm not implying I'd write those guides. It's just that when I played NFS Rivals the same happened, I needed to look elsewhere to learn how to play racing games, because I don't even have a Driver License, so I needed to look elsewhere but I still wished I never needed to go outside of GFAQs S2

Well, that's it for now. Maybe will update when finishing Forsaken but not sure if I'll play it right now. Thanks for reading and enjoy youtr Destiny as a Gamer!

Update: I have notplayed through the expansions yet, but I did the assaults and played a bit of the Leviathan Raid. I said I said that Destini 1 was an Excelent Multiplayer, and this is indeed no different. Especially the Raid where you team up with other players with Voip and are required a lot of coordination and teamwork, the likes that I've seen only in MMOs. It's definitely real fun. I'd like to applaud Bungie's take on Matchmaking, for the Raid, they designed it knowing what would it require, so definitely know what they're doing on this issue. I'm glad I finally played a game from the legendary Devs of Marathon and Halo :-) Still not sure if I'll play Forsaken right now but may further update this when I do.

To be fair, many things are nice in this game, but it's like they just hired the most expensive beautician to dress up a pig, not just lipstick but mascara and eyeliner. That's it, it looks nice but everything else is just have arsed. The game play was wonderful for the length of the story, then it gets so mind numbingly boring I couldn't go on.
I have no idea why anyone would read critics reviews anymore.

I read user reviews, sift through the ones you mentioned to get to genuine reviews. ( you were wholly misleading in your review of them BTW)
I read the fan reviews and the newcomer reviews and compare their versions.
But one thing I know for sure, is that the critic reviews are either 100% BS, 90% BS, or 80%BS.
You get paid to sit and make positive reviews of all the high budget games because they won't give you access if you make a negative one.
You as a critic have every incentive to mislead and be completely disingenuous. I know why a user gives a bad or good review based on how coherent and complete their arguments are. I can trust they are genuine.
Critics need to either grow a pair, or go away.
Metacritic is the only site I trust, and I know that is the same with many of my peers.

In the end, DO NOT BUY DESTINY. It will reinforce the notion of making barely a game, dressing it up, filling it with extra fee's and ruining the industry. Do not reward this. I want this company to be an example of how bad you can fail if you treat the consumer like fools.

New players don't even experience the advertised story unless they are willing to waste their time doing filler missions.

Gameplay: You jump, you shoot, you pick up stuff. And it's all incredibly underwhelming.

Characters: Bungie tries to make an MMO, yet is too lazy to make memorable characters or NPC's, The game is as wide as an ocean, but as deep as a puddle. Not a single character is worth listening to.

I bought the game for 4 Euro's, but i still would have rather spend it on something else. I've had a terrible experience with this game, forcing myself through it. This is not a game, it's a complete joke. I give it a 3/10, it is terrible!

    Story: mediocre.
Content: too easy. No challenge at all.
Game is build around a cashshop.... that sucks. My major critic for destiny 2: Its a boring shooter because abilities are boring and their cooldown is way too long. i want to have nice combos and more skills than "melee and grenade" and every 10 minutes a super which is one-shotting everything. I love the mechanics of this game, and it looks great. The problem is it feels more like an add on to Destiny 1. I think the amount of money for DLC is crazy. Think about it! For $20 more you could buy a new game. Seriously stop supporting this kind of behaviour.

In the sequel, Bungie opted for a "story" with a defined villain "Ghaul". I think this effort was made just to say that they have a "story". I feel like this actually hurt the campaign when trying to cater the gameplay towards the story. The campaign was very boring to play and I would've preferred the storyless campaign of Destiny 1 because its campaign was fun to play. Don't even get me started that you can't use your sparrow until you beat the story. IO is extremely boring and the missions after it.

Crucible is okay, but should not be looked as a very competitive experience and just as a gamemode made as an afterthought. The double primary meta is too slow and the flow of Crucible does not work.

The strikes are fun, but they are in no way memorable or feel like they fit in the story. In Destiny 1, they tied strikes to the story as a "final boss"/activity for the planet. For example Devil's Lair on Earth. I don't see any link to the story and unlike Destiny 1, I don't remember any of the strike bosses names.

The raid feels like a raid, but I don't think it's very good.
-Castellum is not very fun and is unnecessary. In bathers, I don't like that they force you to solo an ultra and you have to rely on others having good enough weapons to kill it themselves.
-Dogs is just completely stupid. It's very buggy and you have to rely on the finicky AI of the dogs to not see your not very smart raidmates. Then you have to rely on their weapons being good to solo a dog and kill your dog fast enough to help their out.
-Gauntlet is kind of too easy, but people for some reason can't wrap their hands around it.
-Calus feels like an actual raid encounter, but the barriers in the alternate dimension can be buggy at times.
Prestige Leviathan feels like a worthy challenge.

I would only buy this if you loved Destiny as a franchise to accept this game's misdoings. And would wait for DLC to fix the game.

Anything under a 7 would be unfair because of the sheer amount of time I have spent with my brothers here but I certainly would not recommend this game per se.

The overall community is pretty toxic, there are tons of microtransactions (making the base game free didn't change **** about this payment model being super shady and unfair), the introduction for new players into the universe is espacially at this point super rough and you really gotta stick to it to have a chance to enjoy it and lastly it's nearly unplayable if you don't have friends to play it with.

As for the expansions you can play, well as long as you haven't done forsaken, you can still play it. I couldn't but someone said you could, and if you have only like 3 missions are available (1 per week). just really bad. Shadow keep isn't even worth mentioning i mean that expansion was so weak with content i'm surprised they don't call that the base game. They have amended the base game start to try and compensate but it isn't well done or thought through (typical bungie let's be honest, story threads are not their strongest point). Beyond Light was dull, because - same enemies, same stuff that you've been doing, very little diferrent.

Witch queen slightly better (filled with the usual mission breaking quests even now in 2023) and "lightfall" the new one is lifeless, again same enemies... although ONE, one new type but not interesting enough to go "yes finally". i mean i'm not sure why this is even still going. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. With Bungie taking Destiny 2 and with us all going into a new era of Destiny, i think it is time to do my review now. Okay so lets begin with the story. Now I know that Destiny’s in game story is not really anything special and the real story is online in the grimoire system or now in the collections tab for the lore section but I must say I really liked how the cabal destroyed the tower and took the traveler with our powers. Although i must say that the character development and the way the characters act and talk are beautiful. Cayde-6 is still my favorite character in the Destiny franchise due to his attitude towards everything and how he’s a joker/comedian. The weapon system and armor system at first was okay but now as i’m making this review it has became much better. I REALLY loved how they added random rolls back to which give tons and tons of replay value to certain events. Okay so now with the end game content. At first you had the nightfall and the Leviathan Raid which was okay for awhile but got boring/repetitive. Now we have tons of raids to which i think the number is 5/6, we also have now many different types of Nightfall which is nice and pretty cool if you ask me. We also now have a new activity called Nightmares to which have certain guns/rolls to which is REALLY cool but VERY challenging if your not high enough of power. The final thing that i would add is how the exploration on the worlds have been upgraded AMAZINGLY compared to the last game and the same thing can be said about the public events too. However, I will say that the everversce store is packed with goodies but sadly you need silver to which you can ONLY get from spending real money but they are fixing it as I'm making this review. All in all, this game is basically a slight downgrade in my opinion from the first game but it doesn’t do a bad job as being a sequel to the franchise but I personally prefer the first game. Expand

However, Destiny 2 feels more like Destiny 1.5 than a sequel. While the gameplay and music still hold fairly well, and the worlds to explore still hold some beauty and awe to them, the empty characters and non-existent story makes it hard to enjoy the game, despite being a multiplayer focussed one.
If there isn't any intrigue to the universe that you're looting and shooting in then what's the point in the grinding for gear if all you're getting is pretentious storylines and mediocre action.

Exclama a mamã pata.
    - Alguém te pregou uma partida. Afirma a vizinha galinha.

    - Olha! Um recém-chegado! Gritou uma das crianças. Todas as outras crianças davam gritos de alegria.
    - E é tão bonito! Dizia outra.
Bonito?... De quem estarão a falar? Pensou o patinho feio.
De repente, o patinho feio viu que todos olhavam para ele e, ao ver o seu reflexo na água, viu um grande e elegante cisne.
    - Oh!... Exclama o patinho admirado.

While I have played this game into oblivion, I find that the yearly charge (which cost as much as a new game every time) is getting to be too much. I hope they find a way to continue expanding this game, but at a much lower cost to the consumer. Gameplay wise, it’s always been pretty good, but story wise it’s mostly been lackluster other than forsaken.

Why do games like this get so much mainstream attention? Yeah, it's bad, we all know it's bad, Jim Sterling. In that case, support some great indie titles instead. Don't just whine about the same thing over and over again.

Destiny 2 is quite bad, and deserves most of the hate it gets. But instead of focusing on games like this, I think it's a lot better to move on and play some good

I hope someone who's reading this user section for laughs sees this. We need to focus on the good, now more than ever.

the game is fun for the first few hours, but as the game goes on, it begins to get grindy and meaningless, and also boring. the story is not good, the games is frustrating, and the endless hours of just killing the same enemy over and over again gets stale. however, the graphics are pretty good, and the movement is fast and hectic, and the gunplay and abilities are pretty fun to use. thethe game is fun for the first few hours, but as the game goes on, it begins to get grindy and meaningless, and also boring. the story is not good, the games is frustrating, and the endless hours of just killing the same enemy over and over again gets stale. however, the graphics are pretty good, and the movement is fast and hectic, and the gunplay and abilities are pretty fun to use. the music is pretty good too. other than that, if you like slaughtering enemies by the thousands, go ahead. if you prefer story and less grindy work, then stay away. What a **** suprise when the other day I tried carrying on from where I left off and was informed that it's nearly all been Vaulted away. All that money that I put into this game is gone. **** you BUNGIE you Corporate Parasites I want my money BACK!

    "New content is hard!" -Bungie

That pretty much sums up their attitude. Why make Fresh content when people spend money at Eververse? Why make fresh content when they can just RESELL content from Destiny OG and early D2 content. After taking it away first, of course. Destiny is the most frustrating and unrewarding game I have ever played. I kept supporting Bungie in hopes management

Destiny is the most frustrating and unrewarding game I have ever played. I kept supporting Bungie in hopes management would die off or quit and some fresh people, that were actual gamers, would join the upper ranks. Unfortunately that is never going to happen. Eventually Destiny will become a mashup of desperate streamers and naive newbies wandering around in a gamer's desert asking for water(content). FYI, you can buy a water bottle at the Bungie Store. Note: it is shipped empty.

One of the PS4's seminal looter shooters, permanently ruined by its own software development team, Bungie.

Immersive, sprawling, and smartly-constructed MMORPG-esque sci-fi with functioning up-to 6-man co-op PVE multiplayer or 12-man PVP, API apps, websites, and all-sorts to support offline administration sorely lacking in games such as The Division 2 that are an administrative burden
One of the PS4's seminal looter shooters, permanently ruined by its own software development team, Bungie.

Immersive, sprawling, and smartly-constructed MMORPG-esque sci-fi with functioning up-to 6-man co-op PVE multiplayer or 12-man PVP, API apps, websites, and all-sorts to support offline administration sorely lacking in games such as The Division 2 that are an administrative burden and brutally joyless time-suck.

Alas, any goodwill Bungie created with its Destiny 1 fanbase was comprehensively destroyed in 2020-21 by an apparently indecisive, devil-may-care, 'we have your money now so we don't give a flying f**k' attitude. In detail, Bungie single-handedly ruined the entire PVE side of the game with weapon sunsetting and content vaulting. This generated a situation whereby the most devoted of long-term Destiny players were forced to re-purchase the same content they'd previously paid for, over and over, while other relatively recent paid-for content was mercilessly taken away. At the same time, weapons, armour, and other exotic items that players had spent months or even years grinding and perfecting were summarily confiscated from players, leaving them with a lacklustre, malfunctioning sandbox devoid of new weapons and items that should have filled the vacuum but never arrived.

Despite massive online backlash that caused even Bungie themselves to publicly concede that they wouldn't ever dare sunset again, the damage was never undone! So in true doublespeak fashion, despite Bungie publicly admitting it had made a mistake, all players who lost their hard-earned product of hundreds of hours of gaming STILL never received them back again! To make matters even worse, Bungie then poured gasoline on the fire already incinerating what was left of the relationships it held with its player base by re-introducing old weapons and armour that had been previously confiscated, and forcing players to re-acquire and re-grind god rolls on them all over again!

Unsurprisingly, players left in their thousands and never came back, some of whom had played the game for as far back as the Destiny 1 beta seven long years ago.

Simultaneously, cheaters were permitted to run rife within the PVP side of the game to such an extent that all free-to-play PVP has been rendered generally unplayable. Blatant aimbot, invulnerability, limitless ammo, hyperspeed, x-ray vision, and other god-mode software and hardware-based cheats were permitted to infect most PVP modes, right up to and including the pinnacle of Destiny 2 PVP - the Trials of Osiris. This combined with Bungie's clumsy use of a new guardian ability, 'stasis', as a means to force players to purchase the latest DLC at the time, turned the non-cheating miserable leftovers of PVP into a complete farce. The stasis ability is still so, SO overpowered that it continues to ruin the game for players even today. In short, the choice is to either use stasis builds on all your three characters, all of the time, or lose every PVP match you start.

Destiny 2 is yet another sad case study in how humankind has failed to evolve beyond money, and therefore witnesses the profit motive ruin most aspects of life on an almost minute-by-minute basis. Play it only if you can time-travel back to 2014, and plan to cease playing in 2019.

In all, the Destiny and Destiny 2 gaming experience suggests that Bungie is no longer a game developer you should entrust your time or your money to unless you're content to give up both for nothing in return.

I did enjoy the game but it didn’t keep my attention during expansions where the emphasis of the massive multiplayer experience was lack greeted and most notably given lesser relief.

Even if Bungie backtracks on some of these horrendous missteps, there’s evidence that the dev team is either flailing around without a clear idea of the experience they want to present, or even worse, they’re happy to offer the least amount of mediocre content possible until the player base starts pushing back. When free-to-play titles like Warframe and Let it Die seem monumentally more generous and offer vastly more entertainment value than a triple-A sixty dollar release built with a budget large enough to feed whole continents, it’s clear that something has gone horribly wrong.

It’s this sense of streamlined player experience that really defines Destiny 2. Where the first game had you grinding for hours just to experience increasingly diminishing returns, this is a sequel that trims away its processor’s frustrations, firmly putting fun first.

Destiny 2 is tough to compare to other shooters or games, but it is evidently a better title than part 1. The campaign is longer, the progression makes more sense, the structure is more satisfying and the sheen and splendor on the various planets entices even more. Destiny is comparable with its predecessor after the add-on The Taken King, and is therefore a more solid foundation for the coming months of content.
