Pros: Amazing scenery, gun play, and music.

Cons: Microtransactions... shaders are one time use now per armor... I beat the story in 6 hours and a lot of enemies you can just run by, final boss is bland and boring... literally bland daddy grunt and just jumps up and down and sometimes shoots at you while hes a bullet sponge... really uninspired... 1-2 hours of campane is probably just shooting bullet sponge bosses.
    30 fps...

probably gonna sell more in dlc.... since already talking about it...
probably a lot im still missing, alot of dissapointment just like the original

at the end of the day destiny 2 really just feels like destiny 1.5. in some ways certain things feel like a step back in the wrong direction. content is spoon fed and extremely bland and boring. this time around its extremely heavily wighed down by the microtransactions... Theirs a lot of amazing potential for this franchise... just not under activision. i haven't done the "raid" but after destiny 1 where you can push the boss off and win and unplug you're enternet, i don't have any high hopes for it. better off passing on this game and playing something else. still no mmo aspects, (or even basic stuff like trading and talking...) really just rinse and repeat.

No new enemies, classes, etc. Shorter story campaign than the TTK expansion, less strikes than the TTK expansion. This is not a sequel. it is an expansion. Story and cutscenes are worst I've seen for a AAA game and it's sad that Bungie moved backwards with their IP instead of doing something truly unique and interesting. Still a good shooter, but is a bigger disappointment.

I want to like this game but as others have said it's just a rehash of the original game... more like Destiny 1.5. I was hoping for some real mmo features but they must have to keep this game dumbed down for the masses. Why isn't there an economy wtih trading? Why is the loot so generic? Why aren't there any new classes? End-game content is spoon fed to players. And a really lame attempt at being an mmorpg... and that is what kills this game for me. It's pretty sad that the first raid isn't even up yet... not even a complete game. I was hoping there would be two or three raids open the day the game released so that players had a ton of progression to look forward to but they don't. The first raid will be completed in one day by some elite gamer crew then everyone will rinse and repeat. Then you'll be standing around town with nothing to do but kill the same **** you've always killed with much better gear then when you completed the raid... it just doesn't make sense why we have to buy the next expansion to get the next raid. Money? More then likely... There should be higher end raids that only a handful of people get into but there is not. This is a rpg made for the masses and its obviously brought down to that level because of it... that is why Destiny 2 suffers to achieve what it set out to do originally. Here's to looking forward to Destiny 3... Expand

Your not only paying full price for what is essentially Destiny 1.5 they have doubled down on micro transactions, the way that shaders are handled show how little they think of you as a customer and introducing pay to win just highlights the money grab this is, can't wait for the first $40 dlc mission that cannot be repeated

More Destiny 1 with minimal content. If you loved paying $200 for Destiny 1 trickling out DLC, then you'll love this. Micro transactions that actually effect gameplay added. Welcome to play to win cash grabs from Bungie.

My main reaction to this game is the frustration of seeing how much missed potential there is for the franchise. There is so much more that Bungie can be doing with Destiny, and I was hoping they'd hit the nail on some of them with D2, but alas it's not the case. It's like no one at Bungie plays any MMOs that have really well designed customization and progression systems.

In general, Destiny 2 is EXACTLY the same game as Destiny 1 with some revamped weapons and enviroments that the developers like to call "new". They're not new. You'll see the same areas with the same Vex pylons left and right and the same "revolver" type weapons with different reskins. The gun sound is a lot better than the first Destiny I'll give them that. But overall this game is not even an expansion. Blizzard made a complete overhaul of the characters, enviroments and animations for World of Warcraft FREE of charge. Something Bungie and Activision did with way less effort in Destiny and charge us for a new game + Sony's PS plus tax. No, just no. Expand

It's been a week and I still can't play it for more than 5 minutes without having it crash on my PS Pro. I've tried everything support has suggested and no help. This issue doesn't exist with any other game I've played. It seems this issue is widespread and they haven't given any ETA or info on a fix. This is troubling by both Bungie and Playstation.

This game is just a long DLC of the first game. The story line doesn't answer questions but is just a setup for the DLC. It isn't worth the initial price tag unless you are really into the first Destiny and just want more items to chose from. I would wait until it comes down on price to even consider this game.

Most of the enemies are the exact same or reskins from D1. Boss fights and other things are all the same. Bullet sponges and hundreds of adds. The story was an improvement, but at a mere 8-12 hours it's not exactly meaty.

In all honesty, the amount of "reviews" here that are flooding the scoring system is baffling. It is sad to see Activision's marketing campaign worked so well.

Destiny 2 is definitely not the sequel we hoped it to be. A lot of the promises and premises alike were left both untouched and unmentioned, leaving us with a husk of a game made by a husk of a studio. A lot of things went wrong

A lot of things went wrong and I will try to get as much points discussed as possible as a note to anyone still considering whether or not to buy this game.

Every Bungie/Activision-selected review mentions the artstyle and graphics of the game, and you barely can have anything against that. The artists really made both D1 and D2 feel very immersing and atmospheric, and I would definitely recommend checking out Destiny's concept art for more of that feel. Improved textures and effects do help, but not by a large margin. The graphics shouldn't be a selling point by this time as the eighth generation of consoles is old enough not to have games as tech demos. The 30 fps doesn't help either, and that handicaps the game even more.

The story isn't reminiscent of anything Bungie can make. It is very clear that the studio and the publisher are trying their best to attract a wider demographic, but the plot suffers from that greatly. The game uses every opportunity to present you as something mighty and powerful, usually exaggerating. The plot doesn't follow any serious themes either, focusing on something easy to understand and get into, and, because of this, it's easy to see through. Bungie is known to have a plot in their game that can be both entertaining and intriguing, yet sadly, Destiny 2 is not that kind of game.

The gameplay mostly remains untouched, but it is already seen from the get-go that any changes are made for the PvP audience, rather than for the PvE players. The gunplay is solid enough to be enjoyable, but that alone is greatly overshadowed by the techniques the developers are now deploying. Microtransactions have a more prominent role that gives actual loot instead of cosmetic items. Speaking of those, cosmetics are now considered to be a one-time use item, and that means fans of customizing their characters are going to take a hit to their wallets. The endgame suffers from the same problem of repetitiveness as it predecessor did, and by the time of this review, the endgame turns into a mundane grind. The introduction of the raid is not to fix much of the problem (I will gladly take my words back if proven otherwise, yet I highly doubt that), not to mention that most of the bosses still maintain that level of unoriginality Destiny 1 had (they are called bullet sponges for a reason).

While the marketing campaign is blowing everyone away, their expectations are crumbling once they discover what a wreck this game appears as at launch. It is clear that pre-orders will make up for the majority of the income, and it's sad to see players and reviewers not to see the many flaws this game has.

On a final note, I will strongly recommend that potential buyers check out more reviews and take both positive and negative feedback with a grain of salt, as well as hold tight to your wallet and keep it cool. For the time being, the game does not justify neither its price nor the microtransactions in it, and I would also recommend waiting for at least the first expansion and checking out the reviews on that one as well, as this could be the best chance to see if the player feedback is understood and accounted for or utterly ignored.

They also didn't fix the problem for PS4 users to get the LETTUCE and BEE errors that keeps reconnecting them to the spawn point of the map when they try to complete any quest. They also didn't fix a problem which cause you to not be able to join the game because of "server capacity is full" while it isn't. Now there is also another problem that says "You don't have permission to join this multiplayer" which prevents AGAIN you from playing. FInal thought: you preorder the 110€ collector, but can only start playing 12-20+ hours after who bought the physical edition (And they completed the campaign in less than 12h already). The amount of glitches, bugs, hacks, lag, connection errors, "killed by the architects", bad matchmaking... and zero attempts of bungie's side to fix the problems at hand, this game deserves to be one of the lowest rated games ever. People can't even be on the menu when transiting to the tower otherwise they get disconnected, I tried - not joking - 30 times, with resets of the console, with network (lan/wlan) changed, with all kinds of "tricks" to get to the tower but got disconnected for 1h straight, and bungie's solution "you have a strict NAT", no we haven't - all of my friends and the people that encounter that issue have normal NAT 1 or 2 and even with all ports open this games network features are utter garbage - like 30y ago where you could "hope" to play a game in multiplayer due to the (bad) servers. This game deserves all the backlash that it gets, because if as a company your only interest are microtransactions and new payable dlc's you are not deserving any praise. FIX YOUR GAME. And for those people that don't have any of those issues mentioned, here is my initial review (rated 5 for very average and below anything bungie ever did, even Destiny (1) imo:
I've played Destiny (1) easily over 1000 hours even tough - in my opinion - the game was severely lacking but the gameplay - mostly the pvp - was pulling me back. It was fluid, paced and engaging.
Destiny 2 lacks - as the original - in (almos) every RPG or MMO aspect of the game. The Story is lackluster altough better than the original, the Raid is unfulfilling and the Activities (world, lost sectors, strikes...) get stale fast. The one thing that got me back every time in Destiny (1) - the pvp - is as tiresome as it could get. It's teamshooting at it's finest so that you can't play solo anymore, the slowed down movement makes it more "tactical" (but less fun imo because no more lone wolf"-ing"), the map design is horrendous, the weapons are not balanced (as there are clear dominant archetypes), the pvp is sweaty (already), the Osiris" (competitive gamemode) is countdown (a COD mode that doesn't fit with the gameplay of Destiny) and the community is toxic already...
The game is a minimalistic attempt to "improve" a formula that needed change and not stagnation, the weapons themselves are repetitive and not interesting, the exotics (used to be main draw to get in D1) are not special anymore and the long term activities are already boring me/people. This game should be bought at a discount when all DLC's are included.

You are not even allowed to chose what PvP you want to play with a randomly generated playlists. The developers have created false ceilings on leveling (you can only level so fast each week) and turned major draws in D1, such as Iron Banner, into shadows of their former selves. PvP design is definitely inferior, incentives to continue to play after you complete weekly milestones is almost nil, and the loot/reward system is broken.

Overall, there are a preponderances of mechanisms intent on controlling the player rather than focusing on making the game fun for the player.. If you really want to try this game out, wait for another year or two before investing any money in it. Maybe they will fix the game in the meantime. Buyer beware.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Destiny 2 in a nutshell is just Destiny 1.5 with major stepbacks and major quality of life upgrades.

    The GOOD:

Music. The music goes well with the current background. When there is a boss, you feel the rush of music going through.

Environments. Bungie has always been good when it comes to creating environments. The explosions are crisp. The skybox is beautiful to look at.

    Graphics. A complete eye candy.

    THE BAD:

STORY. Boring, bland, and generic. Whoever wrote the script should be fired because a 12 year old can do so much better.

The villain, Ghaul, does nothing but shouts at the speaker. He does nothing during the entire story campaign.

Loot. Remember when Nathan Fillion said that there will be a ton of loot? Yes there is a TON of loot BUT THEY ARE NOT WORTH GRINDING FOR. Bungie took several backsteps to downgrade the almost perfected loot system of Destiny 1.

Guns. Uninspiring, reskinned, and laughably dull guns. The 2 new gun types are nothing but a joke. A SMG and a grenade launcher in a space game? This just shows how incompetent Bungie's design team is.

PvP. Another joke. It's absolutely broken and the PvP is not a separate balance with PvE. What this means is that if they nerf a gun for pvp then it becomes a joke for pve. Again. This just shows Bungie's incompetence.

TLDR; This game is a joke. Overhyped BS. Don't buy this game.

Destiny 2 is one of the most disappointing games I have ever played. As a veteran who has spent around 800 hours in the original Destiny and spent over 100 hours in Destiny 2 I have every right to fairly criticize and give this game the biggest expletives possible for ruining a concept and idea so hard that I am floored still by its existence today. To fully explain my problems and issuesDestiny 2 is one of the most disappointing games I have ever played. As a veteran who has spent around 800 hours in the original Destiny and spent over 100 hours in Destiny 2 I have every right to fairly criticize and give this game the biggest expletives possible for ruining a concept and idea so hard that I am floored still by its existence today. To fully explain my problems and issues with Destiny 2 will take too long so rather I would like to just give a summary of the features.

Story - It sucked so much ass. Ghaul was pathetic and the plot was so confusing and trying to cater to children with its generic quip humor dialogue every three seconds that I was already tired of it after the first few missions. I know story to some isn't the main thing for this game, but when Bungie claims they want to make a great story and make it where you can enjoy the story or the loot, you better give me a story that I love and care about. Disappointing does not even cut it for me for my thoughts on this trainwreck of a story.

Graphics and Sound - The art design of Destiny 2 is much like Destiny: beautiful and mind-boggling amazing, the sound teams and the orchestra music is stunning and shames most shooter music scores. This is one of the stronger aspects of Destiny 2 but is easily going to be pushed aside from most in the community. Unfortunately, you see a repetition in the worlds as each is fundamentally the same (European Dead Zone is the Cosmodrone, Titan is the Moon, Nessus is Venus, and Io is Mars) and the music has a undeniable theme that gets repeated a bit too much in my opinion.

Gameplay: It is the same as before. Same Supers, same gun types with the inclusion of a couple new weapons that don't challenge or change up the structure. No ship combat or sparrow combat. Enemies are all reused from the previous game with some additions and visual changes that it doesn't even matter. The core loop feels fun and enjoyable with friends, but eventually the combat will feel as rudimentary and feel tiring that I would enjoy the more dumber things in the game like glitching in social areas then play the game. Speaking of social spaces...

Social Spaces: The Farm is completely wasted and the reusing the Tower on top of getting it so early is one of the dumbest decisions Bungie has made in terms of being new. Maybe if it took a long time to earn the Tower back in a few months it would be better, but with nothing at the Farm that the Tower does better for you, it makes you wonder if it was even worth it at all.

Strikes and Nightfalls: Disgustingly rehashed bosses of just stronger variants of rehashed enemies. They have some ways of approaching them differently but with only 5 strikes and not one original boss enemy, this is practically spitting in my face. The Nightfall design is bad with time limits placed on players and lacking more modifiers that the original game had. Stressing me to beat a Nightfall on a timer to a strike that is lazily put together in order to grind it out doesn't sound like a good gameplay hook does it?

Crucible and Trials (and Iron Banner): Has plenty of problems. 6v6 is now 4v4 (when it was just fine), no dedicated servers, no 60 FPS (and Bungie wants to be competitive with this game...), you can't team shot almost ever because gun abilities are fixed, no balancing in power and defense when players leave and leave teams at a disadvantage. Every game mode is boring and cookie cutter (Clash is TDM, Control is Dom, Countdown is SND, Supremacy is Kill Confirmed, etc.). Trials or Iron Banner doesn't allow power advantages and their weapons and armors are uninspiring and pointless.

Raid: Only one boss and a set of challenges. Considering I can get all my all my weekly awards in the same amount of time for all characters as doing only for one run on the raid, it essentially defeats the reason to even do it in the first place. The mechanics and creativity is fine but the struggle to do these things is always why its niche in the community to do them more than once.

Loot and Progression: Grind your life away by doing the same thing over and over again. Be disappointed on days you bust your ass and get nothing yet a newbie gets the weapon you want without lifting a finger. Be tempted by corporate scumbags to buy silver and waste it on RNG based loot boxes that should've been apart the game in the first place. It's the same **** and it is so old and sick of it.

Other issues too: No returning to the previous game's things even though no issues were solved on them, no trading still, clans are marginally improved but still lacking and weak, lore is built within game but don't have a codex at all, adventures and quests lack depth or even quantity. faction rally is just a popularity contest and has no fun meta at all, etc.

Destiny 2 is a waste of time and money that is a remake than a sequel (and not even a good one at that). Not even friends can save this mess of a game.

Destiny 2 right now feels like Destiny 1 in its dying days. Just after 1 month. Sure, the story’s better (the bar wasn’t set that high, tho) and the progression is smoother and easier, but that’s it. The loot is poor and bad, the end game is shallow and worthless, the PVP is a boring mess.

What baffles is me is the amount of improvements that were present in Taken King or Rise of Iron and are just nowhere to be found in D2. And if it was Bungie’s plan all along to remove them so we have to pay for them again in the upcoming DLCs, then that’s just extremely arrogant and people should just stop buying this half-assed game, now that the word is out.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Disappointing on so many levels. They have not improved the original game in anyway. This may as well be another DLC package. I don't understand how they can get away with it. There is no new enemies (Except when they set up a new enemy upon completion of the 3-4 hour story, which will be part of the.......DLC), zero innovation, Locations still boring and empty. What annoyed me the most was the fact that you don't get a sparrow until completion of the story, and all of the the maps are clearly designed for sparrows. Bright engrams can now be bought through micro transactions to get your legendary/exotic gear. You can earn these upon leveling up every time after level 20; which is apparently when the game really starts. It is not, it is when the grinding starts. How people are so thrilled about loot i will never know. The loot is just the same **** that looks a bit different from the last lot. The Shaders you use to change the colour of your gear are now limited. So you don't end up using them because you don't want to waste them. Ultimately this is Destiny 1 repackaged with a story which is generic and mundane. Not improved on any of the problems of the first and actually created more issues. The game is **** Expand

D1 was a flawed game in many aspects (it had a shallow story, bland characters and serious balancing issues in PVP), but it had two things that made it awesome: its Power Fantasy Fulfillment and its fun factor. Those things are nowhere to be found in D2.

Powers, supers and exotics were a big contributor in the Power Fantasy factor, and all of them were nerfed on D2. Sure, you get used to it, but go back to D1 and you'll feel like YOU were nerfed not your inventory.

Fun is hard to describe, some D1 players found "the grind" fun, other hated it, messy PVP games with 6 players per team and a huge reliance on abilities were a drag for some while others felt that was the meta. So when I say that a messy gameplay was fun, I mean it was fun for me, but now it is not.

I appreciate the primary weapons focused gameplay but I miss the time when you could play as the lone wolf on PVP (especially when you are playing with randoms), I like that the grind is gone, but the "one size fits all" philosophy of tokens and engrams made the game dull. There is little motivation to play for more than a couple hours every week when you are leveling up, and after you reach the level cap there is really no motivation to play at all. I don't see how special events like Iron Banner or the Halloween event will change that.

Unfrrtunately, Destiny 2, mitigated the strengths of the original and created new weaknesses. Simply put the game is not fun and has very few redeeming features. Save your money ad skip D2.

    I initially would give this a 6/10, but I don't think Destiny 2 deserves that. Let's get into why;

Good: -Artstyle is great, but some textures and effects look plain bad (albeit PC with better graphics settings can look far better) -Weapon balance is spot on, there are weapons that are clearly better than others at this point (Reviewed right before the initial release for D2 on PC),

-If you don't buy the game, at the very least listen to the soundtrack
-Theres a story in this game

    Bad:
-30 fps PvP (for reference, I'm pretty sure DOOM on the SWITCH will be 60 fps for the PvP side)
    -No dedicated servers for PvP
-RNG seems to extremely heavily favor duplicates
    -Limited grind and replayability
-Tokens replace just about every way of getting loot
    -Bad raid
    -Terrible nightfall mechanics
-The worst PVP mode I've ever played in a triple A shooter, it's too slow and the entire game was dumbed down because of it
-Microtransaction loot boxes, replaces most shaders and all but 3 (to my knowledge) ghost shells, almost every ship, and all but 1 sparrow.
-No endgame content, I don't raid and I felt like I'd done everything PvE-wise on the second or third week.
-Cheating is still a massive issue on console, for those reading this review to get a recommendation on whether or not to buy the PC version, it'll most likely be worse there
-The story, while there, is still generic, boring, and extremely cliché.
-PvE is incredibly easy, with no option to increase the difficulty outside of intentionally using bad equipment and/or setting player-made limits
-Exotics are almost all extremely underwhelming and almost as a whole worse than the rarity tier below them (legendaries)

My honest suggestion is to wait until next September at the very least to but the "all DLC included" etition when and if they fix the game.

It's a crying shame how they could put so much effort into game play, soundtrack and outstanding presentation. Yet top it off with the same boring characters, boring cinematics, boring level design and more of the same rehashed boring dialogue. Somehow I managed to play this game for maybe just under 100 hours, because I believed in BUNGIE but the multilayer content has been halted again with only two options, public events are just copied and pasted across the miniscule outdated map design across the planets. The guided games is a broken system that requires voice chat. Problem is that it will put you into a game with anyone from any country, even if they don't speak the same language as you, when as mentioned before voice chat is a requirement, especially for the raid which requires pre meditated coordination as it is literally impossible to accomplish without planning with a team beforehand. I would not recommend joining any random clan because the game that promotes working with others is very antisocial. Most people will not join a game and those that do are almost nearly always underpowered for the at times unfair Nightfall strike and raid. I conclude by saying if this game didn't have good game play, a good soundtrack and nice presentation I think alot more people would be negative towards it but bungie have proven more than once now that in the modern era it's more about style than substance than a consumer quality guaranteed game. I sunk well over 500 hours into Destiny 1 and I have been a huge fan and supporter of Bungie since Halo 1, and played each and every release of the Halo and Destiny series, this title is completely unacceptable.

This game has 4-8 hours of good content to impress reviewers, after that you will get a better experience from The Division, No Man's Sky, or even Clash of Clans. I would recommend that you try one of those titles instead.

If you are interested in the game wait to buy it until they fix it. You could buy the Destiny 1 collection for $35 in year 3 and it included all the content. Buying now means you're paying full price and will have to shell out $150 for the complete game minus the special edition stuff (I paid that much for D1). If you wait a few months it will likely be $30 for both the main game & the expansion, and you'll know if they fixed it or not.

Right now the community is dying, clans and friends are leaving, PvE zones are dead empty and you will be constantly soloing events designed for 3-4 people and failing them if you play outside of weekend prime time. I created a clan at launch with 50 people and every single member is already gone, this is on console. I can't imagine how much worse it would be on PC.

If you value your money at all, wait and see on this game. You'll have a much better experience. I wish I had waited myself because the issues ruined my experience. Now I'll never get to have the feeling of trying the game for the first time enjoyably, and that's the worst part.

Now its more difficult to lvl up gear wise. Before the patch I could easily get legend drop (purple), but now it's mainly standard (blue - for lvl 20). Also a HUGE drawback are the raids and the way they designed it. Basically the game holds your hand and its difficult to die, unless you f'ed up big time. Then you launch raids to get proper gear and... the game f. you in your behind. NO walk through what so ever. Big guessing game what to do (leviatan), so you open youtube to find out that you and your team mate are done with the game. It turns our you need 6 ppl to do it! I have a full time job, wanted a game where I can relax but these ppl designed it only for hardcore and clan players.
Just yesterday I was thinking... maybe I'll buy DLC but there is no point, I can't simply play. What's most retarded is that on easy mode (read STRIKEs) the game is matchmaking you with 2 other ppl. But hard ass Leviatan.... oh well let me see you and your friend struggle (muahahaha), no matchmaking!

In essence this is amazingly good looking game with a great feel (gun play), but it's shallow as water in the toilet. Minecraft in Alpha version offered more joy that this overpriced and cut in half (DLCs) piece of poop.

    10/10 for graphics, optimization, sound
-10 for looong loading times, shallow gameplay, no possibility to enjoy the content without a clan

I didn't like the first one because of this, gave the second one a chance but quickly realized it was actually worse for grinding.

If you are into that go for it, the graphics are nice and it is fun for a bit, if you want something you can play a lot and continuously progress just avoid this.

-1: a beautiful game running on 30 fps. Say what you want, I'm a PC purist, I don't care. A shooter with 30 fps in 2017 is unaceptable even by the lowest standards. They consciously made the game look good on screenshots, with complex particle explosions that will make your fps go to **** It's unbelievable.

-2: They completely destroyed the shaders for the sake of implementing microtransactions.

-3: PVP was downgraded from 6v6 to 4v4; and god how it feels amateurish; the way the maps were designed favours team shot everywhere, you're always secure in cover, you can always run if you feel you're in danger, so obviously what you do is wait for your team, and attack in bulks.

-4: Bungie insists with P2P "servers" (and I'll insist giving this game a low score). Enemies are always teleporting, you're always like "WTF??"

-5: They promised a better campaign but the story is actually much worse. Gary and the cabals are laughable. They don't mention a lot of important characters from the first game while others have central appearances but have insanely simplified roles (looking at you Speaker, if I can call that a role). When the game ended I was laughing in disbelief. The campaign is literally: lose the light > get light back > rascue zavala/cayde/ikora > kill Gary > the end. This is not a summary. If there's anything more one dimensional than this please let me know, I'm curious.

-6: To accompany the game laughable campaign, they made sure we would feel like nothing is new. There's not even a single new race. You fight cabal, vex, fallen and taken all over again. It's incredible how they like the courage to be bold, to bring something fresh and breathtaking. The game have so much potential but I'm thinking the developers at bungie are just plain incompetent and unninspired. Is this really all they could come up with? I know there's presure from Activision to release stuff and all but someone must man up in there and make sure they do the right thing. It feels like everyone in there were good with the way things went.

-7: Glimmer? Legendary Shards? What's with all these currencies you have no use for? The ONLY momment you notice glimmer even exists is when you open your ghost to see the challenges and there's freaking glimmer on the screen preventing you from seeing it (because you can either see glimmer or challenges) and everytime you kill an enemy the glimmer ammount pops on the screen instead of the challenges. It's like no one at Bungie played their own game.

-8: The whole game feels like the first; there's no way you feel like this is a fresh experience. It's the same itemization, same menu designs, same freaking CLASSES. It's a DLC no matter what perspective you try to see it.

-9: I remember Bungie saying how the planets were going to be much bigger in Destiny 2. Not only they killed the solar system planets (which were much more interesting), but they actually made them incredibly smaller. Titan is fully explored in 30 seconds using a sparrow. It's ridiculous.

-10: Bungie/Activision are testing their fans to see how stupid they are, and they are really pushing it more and more with each game/dlc release. This DLC plan even before the main game comes out is ridiculous. They obviously hold on to content to sell in smaller batches; stupid fans will never have a full game with developers using this phylosophy. I'm not against DLC, but just look at the Witchers base game and DLC's. You may not like the game but CD RED Projekt has set the bar with The Witcher. And Destiny has set the lower bar. When you look at how much content per dollar spent each game offer, it's insane. For the same price you get roughly 15 times more content in the Witcher (yes I measured it). While in one game you struggle to do all content at least once in your lifetime, in the other you're constantly repeating the same boring stuff over and over again, to try and improve its life cycle, give it a grind here and there.

In general the game is a DLC for Destiny 1, nothing more than that. The Taken King DLC had many more interesting things to mention. Destiny 2 is a marketing experiment. Luke Smith is a sociopath, I've been saying that for a couple of years now. It's a shame because someone in there know how to make a shooter feel nice. And the concept artworks are awesome. How can a strong foundation like this lead to so much mediocrity? I could go on listing the issues I had with this game but I'm afraid I'm reaching max 5000 characters so I'll just stop here for now. I hope no one will say I'm just hating on the game for no reason. I think I gave my reasons.

I mean especially for the PC Players this seems really unfair, and even for the console players, to be gated out of content they paid for and had access to. Just, wow. You start off with a bang. cabal invade your home, the last city of earth. However, i felt like you never really cared for the last city, you don't feel attached to the plot. The plot is generic, and nothing special. It could have been much better if they actually tried making a damn good one. Instead you get the cliched "mindlessly kill enemies". The main villain called "Gaul" is not interesting at all. the developers make an attempt to build a good villain character, but hes not even that intimidating. he looks like a mole rat from fallout 3 for gods sake! Gaul also gives a cliched "Your traveler and i aren't so different" speech. The game gives you nothing to invest into.

Gun-play is addictive, but nothing new.

The enemies in the game are horrific. In a bad way. The AI is some of the worst i have ever seen. You could run through an entire level without enemies even stopping you. Absolutely horrible.

There is seriously some missed potential in destiny. Bungie cannot make a quality game anymore. Oh, and guess what? They want you to pay for expansions. AGAIN. COME ON BUNGIE!!

    - No more weapon grinding
    - Leveling up is super fast, and not 1 bit satisfying.... and worse... there is nearly a reason in game to level up (except for the Raid)
    - No weapon perks (HUGH MISTAKE)

I considered myself a hardcore PvP player in D1. playin more than 1000hrs only in crucible matches...and now The PvP D2.... is not necesary but (the gun play is still... okey, but!!) there is at times lag with certain players...
    - only 4v4 is a mistake, there should be 6v6, 3v3 and maybe 8v8 matches
    - no 60fps is just lazy from bungie, if games la battlefield accomplish this with better graphics and 64 online player... there is no valid scute for this.
    - the weapon balancing is POOR, couple of friend believe its good, but the reason why it isn't is simple, they eliminated the use from sniper, shotgun, fusion, etc, by putting them as "special" weapon, and control the amount of people that use them... THAT NO BALANCING A GAME... its being mediocre

... the enemies are the same
... weapon design almost always the same
... I really wish I hadn't bought this game... already deleted it (the only decent decision I made with D2)

After playing both expansions I can honestly say that the game still feels like a stripped down version of D1 and the changes they did make do not make up for it. Those changes have mostly been centered around player interface and ease of access to game functions. (IE not having to go to orbit for every move you wanted to make). There have been no new enemy factions and only minor changes to the ones we've had since the beginning. Along with limited re-playability as you are only allowed to re-play a handful of randomized story missions once a week. There is also a weekly cap to how high you can get your light up each week. Your light level also limits your ability to participate in certain missions and public events. They know players are getting through their small expansions too quickly so they created this wall to prolong it.

There is certainly a difference in the amount of effort being put into new content (missions, strikes, new areas) then what was done for D1. The first two expansions in D1 felt like it rounded out the base game. The last two expansions were large and really gave you a lot to do. It was the whole reason I bought into D2, but after its release along with two expansions I feel like they are just putting out content to satisfy their contract with Activision.

If you’re a casual player looking to spend time experiencing Bungie’s first class shooting mechanics, you’re in for a treat. If you’re a returning player who was looking for more, there is trouble up ahead my friend...

Having put a great many hours into the game, experienced all it offers, it becomes clear, and fast, that the game turns boring. Loot stops scaling at around the 260 power (previously known as ‘Light’) mark and the only way to power-up higher is the completing of weekly activities, which can be done once per character, per week. Once done, and once you find yourself at the 265/ 270 mark, infusing exotic weapons and/ or getting exotic engrams are your only way to scale up. It’s either mindless grinding for the same loot, of which has baked-in perks (more on that latter) or make new characters to take advantage of being able to do multiple weekly milestones.

While the latter sounds appealing, it’s actually detrimental to anyone looking for long term replay ability, because there is no incentive to grind out the endgame activities beyond getting what you get, the first time. With the lost benefit of raid weapons and gear not having raid perks nor even random perks on normal loot, the incentives to keep playing is lost. I reached 300 power very fast using the multiple character method and once there, activities that granted rewards useful to me, diminished exponentially.

This is a huge step backwards in a looter game, and that’s the bottom line in this genre: getting better loot. Everyone has the same loot now. There is no more White Whale to pursue anymore.

I’ve digressed though and believe that what I am about to say, should be the only thing that needs to be said. More than 90% of the people who have been leaving reviews here for this game, have been comparing it to the vanilla release of Destiny.

And this, critics, is not only a mistake, but it shows just how out of touch you are, and have been, with the many progressive changes made to Destiny, up to this point. There were a lot of extra incentives added to Destiny. Post Rise of Iron expansion saw the game in a truly fun position.

Gone, entirely, are all the changes that year 3 Destiny had that helped mold the vanilla experience, over time, into a wonderfully rewarding experience.

Sequels should retain aspects of their predecessors, for continuity sake. Movie producers and novelists alike know and understand this. However, and I cannot emphasize this enough, more must be built upon that foundation. More. Not less.

Destiny 2 is three years behind Destiny: Rise of Iron. Quite literally, we veteran players who stuck with Destiny from day one launch, we are playing that same bland vanilla Destiny experience of 2014, all over again.

Critics praising Bungie for the story and fancy graphics, need to stop. Just stop. Those are characteristics that are, in this era of video gaming, come to be expected of any first rate developing studio. Expected! You don’t praise an adult for tying their shoes every day, do you? Unless you have stuck with Destiny since initial launch and up until now, your critiques, opinions even, are entirely moot.

Do not buy this game. Maybe, in two years time from now, the game will offer everything that Y3 (Year 3) Destiny does. But, really, who wants a repeat of 2014 again?

Hardcore fans are abandoning the sinking boat. Have no illusions, the game grows stale and the casuals, whom this game was clearly targeted at, will leave when they do and will grow bored, fast. Anyone left standing who was a hardcore fan, if any at all by then, will be left wondering if the whole experience was a nightmare and they can finally wake up.

Stop spreading false information, critics. You cannot compare this game to vanilla Destiny. In doing so, you are clearly disclosing your lack of intelligence and acknowledgment of the fact that Destiny has, since launch, never seen many expansions and core mechanic changes that have refined the end user experience. Stop. Your. Madness.

Search Youtube for a video by “Skill Up.” It’s an hour long review of Destiny 2 and one of which tens of thousands of fans are in agreement with. You owe it to yourself, if you value not only your money, but the integrity of the video game industry.

The game is an insult to creativity, ingenuity, inspiration, and takes no risks. Nothing to see here. Nothing you will truly miss. Move along.

If you’re looking to critic reviews, or listen to people that tell you to ignore user reviews, ask yourself this:

Would you rather take the word of someone who is not knowledgable, in that they are comparing an outdated version of Destiny, minus all the software updates and changes for the past three years, to Destiny 2? Or the word of someone who has put in thousands of hours into Destiny, up to now, and many in Destiny 2? Someone who has skipped three years or someone who has seen them all?

The money spent on this game is better spent at a strip club.

Lesser of a game than the first one. Features gone and its a glorified, overpriced DLC; they went backwards. The same people that would buy this and give it a good review are probably the same people that would pay $1000 for the new iPhone, sheep and fanboys.

Destiny 2 is another cash grab , sure it has improvements but its easy to overlook them . This game has micro transactions , a poorly written story, and there is hardly any end game content . once you get to a certain light level the loot drops become rigged , you will get NOTHING BUT CONSTANT DUPLICATES OF GEAR YOU ALREADY HAVE OVER AND OVER AND OVER, it never ends and i know forsure thatDestiny 2 is another cash grab , sure it has improvements but its easy to overlook them . Stay away from this copy pasted reskined dissaster , it is a waste of time and a waste of money . Bungie should give this franchise to another developer it would have been an incredible game if that were the case Expand

This game is ok but i'm not sitting through another 4 years of dlc and micro transactions. I finished getting to max light in less then a month of it coming out, and that a short amount of time even for Destiny. I realise that prestige raid is coming out soon but with Destiny no longer having different roles on gear, I know I will only be grinding to raise a number. I realise that prestige raid is coming out soon but with Destiny no longer having different roles on gear, I know I will only be grinding to raise a number. I usually don't have a problem with just raising a power level, gear score, or dare I say light level, but knowing I am just going to rinse and repeat with my wallet and my time just doesn't make me happy about that number anymore. I realise this is a new game that bungie is trying to appeal to new people with but unfortunately I this might mean sacrificing their old audience. Dispite all this I might stick around if I thought Bungie might read reviews and go fix things or try to change things, but Bungie is a company and they will do what is best for themselves to make money. I have to thank all the reviews as I was looking forward to the second version, but will now not bother as I refuse to face the same disappointment others have faced.

Even if Bungie backtracks on some of these horrendous missteps, there’s evidence that the dev team is either flailing around without a clear idea of the experience they want to present, or even worse, they’re happy to offer the least amount of mediocre content possible until the player base starts pushing back. When free-to-play titles like Warframe and Let it Die seem monumentally more generous and offer vastly more entertainment value than a triple-A sixty dollar release built with a budget large enough to feed whole continents, it’s clear that something has gone horribly wrong.

It’s this sense of streamlined player experience that really defines Destiny 2. Where the first game had you grinding for hours just to experience increasingly diminishing returns, this is a sequel that trims away its processor’s frustrations, firmly putting fun first.

Destiny 2 is tough to compare to other shooters or games, but it is evidently a better title than part 1. The campaign is longer, the progression makes more sense, the structure is more satisfying and the sheen and splendor on the various planets entices even more. Destiny is comparable with its predecessor after the add-on The Taken King, and is therefore a more solid foundation for the coming months of content.
