It is almost as bad as Destiny 1 at launch. Incredibly lackluster and offensively barebone. Undoubtedly the biggest disappointment of 2017. Bungie has learned basically nothing from the past 3 years. Do yourself a favor and spend you money elsewhere.

Seems game review publications take a lot of money to give reviews to the big dogs these days. The game is boring and frustrating, and you'll get the rest of the game only when you pay for it three more times.

Game was dumbed down for the casual audience sadly compared from Destiny 1. Exotic weapons drops like candy and you have basically zero reason to play the game after 3-4 weeks of gaming.

Cabbage error, still no fix after 2 months and didn't get a refund when i asked for it 2 months ago.
Bungie should be ashamed and they can go **** themselves. Never going to buy a product of them ever again.

devs have done some good work, and some really bad work on this game. im not looking forward to paying another 60$ for the dlc's. but if they include raids, i would say it is worth it.

A complete waste of huge potential. Watch I Hate Everything's video on Destiny 2 ( titled I HATE DESTINY 2 - I'm Done.) and you'll understand why most people are extremely unhappy with this game. I've never played a game whose sequel was so uninspiring that i've completely lost interest in the future of the entire franchise. If you're curious about the validity of this comment, I've now played enough to have 3 characters over 300 hoping that the end game would actually be fun only to find out they've removed any incentive to even reach the end game much less keep playing. It's genuinely sad to see a game with such potential be so poorly executed that a huge portion of its fanbase will never play it again. Expand

Don't fall into the hype trap. This game was designed by a team of marketers and not gamers. It is completely uninspired and lazy at every turn. If you've ever played another FPS RPG, again don't bother because I can't think of single game in that genre that's more bland than D2. It features very limited character development, limited loot pools, a completely forgettable story, and no endgame. Destiny 1 also started off in a rocky place but they made a lot of improvements over time that made it a pretty good game by the end and yet somehow the game that is just a cheap clone of the original lacks most of those improvements. What's worse is that I can't tell if Bungie didn't learn from it's mistakes or if the lesson they learned was that they can deliver a mediocre product and "fix" it with dlc that most people will feel compelled to buy to justify their initial purchase. This is the last Bungie product I'll ever buy. Expand

Exotic gear is so plentiful why the hell do you even call it exotic. The epic music plays at the weird most dull moments where nothing is happening. **** that was free in Destiny 1 now cost money to get. Bosses are still massive bullet sponges. Shooting is still smooth. So if you want a mindless shooter to kill some time and chill with buds, I'd get Call of Duty WW2.

Honestly after playing the Taken King I thought they got it together, but boy did they seriously dropped the ball again. If you loved Destiny 1, this is the game for you because it's just a Destiny 1 expansion, minus any expansion on the story about the darkness and light cause **** plot.

I really wanna understand how Bungie made Halo and fell so far in terms of innovation, creativity, story/character development and just went and died. Here is a tip if you are unsure about this game, wait until the game comes out at 40$ with all the dlc included.

After your 20 hours the only thing to do is the raid which is the worst I have played, it is unforgiving even on normal mode, includes very annoying mechanics that attempt to offer something different. It requires huge amounts of cooperation and coordination with your fireteam which does not work well with the casual players or the huge amount of players that do not have a fixed 6 man team to play with each week. You are left frustrated wasting days on random pick up groups hoping that they can all execute their tasks perfectly. There is no loot just keys and tokens that you have to navigate a labyrinth to cash in and only on completion.

I have never played a game to this extent where I felt my time and efforts had been wasted and was just left feeling unhappy and frustrated at the end of it.

    1
the campaign sucks, the voice lines suck, and most of all, the way you are presented is so overtuned its laughable, i played this game since its out, and i want to resell it, sadly its already not worth it anymore.

    2
    events and dropps,
loot will at some level no longer be good, 260 as a powerlevel, will become hell for you
you will rott there until you reach 280. it took me 4 days to reach 277, from 260. just saying you reach that point after 2-3 days.

the events suck, are ALWAYS the same events, at the exact same place, with the exact same svoice lines from npcs,
sometimes ppl leave the planet, means out of 6 ppl on the planet, you are alone. nobody joins it. you MUST reload the planet. which takes me

    3
loading times are insane, i had several moments when i was in 5 minute loading screens, finish a mission, go to the quest guy, 1 minute, 2 minutes to finish that, then yu must go somewhere else, which takes you forever, then you leave the city, you are in a loading screen, 1 minute, you need to run there somewhere, and so on. you basicly do nothing for great stretches of time

    4
    rewards
they suck, the only rewards that do not suck, are some exos that you get from missions. so 3-4 are good.
you wont get most of the time, the things you need, you will get TONNS of duplicates from exos from engramms, i talk about getting the exact same exo ( legendary in other games) two to up to endless times,
my record is getting the fking PROMO weapon i got from a code, for FIVE times
i got the item that should NOT drop five fking tmes.

    5
    the missions are a joke,
there are literaly missions that are, go there, stand there for 3-4 minutes, go make yourself some tea
you do not defend, you do not do anything, you stand there and it loads a, scanning meter,
    no enemys, nothing

and every event is the same, its ALWAYS either of 2 things, defend this, or kill this. mostly both in one mission
so, defend this drill, then kill this guy,
defend the loader, then kill this guy,,
defend this circle, kill the guy that spawns,

every planet has this. and its a chore.

multiplayer is okay, some things are rly unfair, but all in all its okay and the ONLY fun part of the game... if you got the loot for it...
well, there are ppl with auto aiming granades, that will instamurder you... but that rarely happnes.

    6 always online
due to the poor mission matchmaking, ... basicly non existent, you play if you dont have real life or pre game friends, nobody to play this game with, so you are solo
... also the planet player despawn and no longer join thing... so you play aloe most of the time then rly...
i cnt play tis offline. its just a negative on its own.

    7
this game makes me angry, once you finished the lame campaign, and all the leveling from before until you reach endgame, you never want to touch that again, so if you want to test out another character, you can do it all over again...
jut so you know, you wont get the car until you finish the campaign... WHAT THE FK... you run for most of the time, if you later do strikes, ( which are basicly story missions in harder and mayby 1 boss, which is a cloned stronger variation of another boss or smaller unit) you kinda realize that you need the fking care desperatly...
8 okay okay next is. some of the kill quests, they require you to do kills with certain methods, like flying with an mp and killing units. do 50. the flying and aiming thing is a chore, it is annoying. or kill with this 1 handgun 10 big enemys on that planet, of that race. and so on. you basicly run from spawn to spawn and kill 1 unit. for 1-2 hours.... nice, afterwards you gotta do more of those... you get nothin directly. 9 some things feel unfinished. edges feel very **** sometimes, if you yetpack SLIGHTLY against them, youfly backwards, and die... sometimes you get knocket up like ****, and you fly away into death, you cannot dodge this, you cannot save yourself from this you are dead. 10 enemys are retardet.... or something you can just punch EVERY enemy to death. bosses will kill you because they just deal to much dmg, but you can do it. you also can just spamm revives into something, and chip the enemys away until you win. 11 lootchests are a joke, vendors too... there is ONE vendor who sells good stuff... thats it. the rest is locked behind the raid, which i cant even play, because i dont have the ppl for it, nor can i play the pvp event stuff from the nein or how they are called, terrible drops from chests are glimmer which doesnt bring you jack **** and tokens which result in sad loot from vendors and npcs... you will get floodet with this dirt. DO NOT BUY THIS,

If a game ask player to pay money to skip playing the game and get that thing naturally, it means the developer believe that their game is not good enough for player to actually play for enjoyment and give player option to skip it.

Destiny 2 is aimed at a dumbed down audience whose girlfriends tag them in Destiny promo vids, so they can show the world how amazing they are for buying their BF's the latest pile of garbage for mainstream casuals. The type of gamer who buys this trash are the same ones who buy two games a year Fifa and Destiny and repeat the cycle each year the new shiny version comes out.

I feel sorry for Destiny players because the rest of the gaming scene sees them as non gamers (the equivalent to mobile gamers) but they somehow think they are the real deal. Now you may wonder why I'm so annoyed at these sheeple who buy the latest pop songs because everyone else does, watch the latest Hollywood blockbuster because the TV add told them to and play mass produced corporate titles like Destiny 2?
Well I'm annoyed because while the sheep are wasting cash on shaders, DLC to find out how the game ends and paying micro transactions for virtual boots in a generic wave shooter fighting hordes of identikit Halo enemies, the rest of the gaming industry follows suit. So it becomes the norm to release half completed DLC's as if they are a full game for full price. We all suffer due to the actions of the easily fooled. And that is what Destiny 2 is doing, it is fooling people into spending a fortune on a very average FPS, they've even stripped it back meaning you're getting less than Destiny 1. Even the PVP is only 4 v 4, not that it's worth playing as no skill is required (which is why it appeals to casuals). To win in multiplayer you just need to type in your credit card number, buy some loot, win a legendary weapon, equip the weapon and one hit kill your opponent. You might as well let a bot play Destiny for you for a monthly fee.

The graphics have had a slight lick of paint but it still lacks any fine detail and looks the same as Halo or any other generic space shooter that came before it.

Nothing has changed since the first game, same classes, same enemies, same character models, animations, weapons etc etc. In fact it's not even a DLC, it's more like a re-master.

No doubt the unimaginative among us, the ones who believe fake news and like and share couple prank videos online will buy into this disgrace of a game and play it all year spending hundreds on micro transactions and badly made DLC.

And then after a year of wasting your hard earned cash and many many hours repeating the same thing over and over on the same few maps over and over just so you have a golden set of armour, a gun with a skull on it and a silly hat on your character. Look deep into your soul and ask 'was it worth it?'. If the answer is yes: then ignorance truly is bliss.

I've decided to review this game not the conventional way but rather through series of honest questions.

Why is your game so predicated on grinding?
Why even have a story when it only serves as a hurtle to get over before the real game?
Why are you classes so depthless that it takes away any feeling of identity this game could provide?
Why even have weapon classes and why limit yourself in a scientific fantasy setting to mostly guns?
Why are there only three classes?
Why is your character creator so shallow?
Why limit fun to just the end game rather than making the whole game fun?
Why have platforming when it's not fun or enjoyable to do?
Why call this sequel when you've added so little to it from the previous?
Why do you rely so heavily on hoards to make your game difficult?
Why did you make me dislike this beautiful game?
Why have so many enemy types when they're all pretty much the same and they hate you more than any others?
Since when did you decide games don't need to be fun?

For starters this is a soft reboot to the Destiny franchise, that much is obvious. Bungie was clearly upset about how D1 turned out and they didn't like how people were playing "their" game so they ripped it from our hands and went "no play with it like this!". Barely anything has changed, same gameplay, same endless grind for gear to grind for better gear, the AI is still brain dead to the point where PVE is basically a shooting gallery, difficulties are gone, everything is too easy, you can sprint through most of the story missions without firing a shot and everything looks like a Hollywood set(fake and set up to make the player think there is more there than there is). There is absolutely no reason for this to be a "shared world shooter" that is a pure marketing gimmick, it would be so much better if they just dropped that money making BS and focused on making a coherent story. Instead what we get is an incoherent mess with high school level writing and lore that not only makes no sense but is now filled with holes because it does not line up with the last game. But at least it's a "social shooter"! With no proximity or in game chat at all and 99% of players are antisocial only coming together because the game forces it. Well the PVP must be good then right? Nope. The PVP is hot garbage, fanboys will try to tell you it "takes more skill now", ignore them it doesn't. All you do in PVP is follow your team around like a lost puppy and team shoot the other team's stragglers, that is literally all PVP is. Abilities also charge way too slow so don't expect to use them much or at all, the entire point of destiny is the abilities and they are barely present now. Surely the gear grind must be good? To which I say there is no grind any more. God tier gear is now handed out like candy on Halloween, by the time I finished the campaign I was decked out in legendaries and exotics and I didn't farm anything, hell you don't even have to play to get gear any more just join an active clan and let them play for you, you get free gear from that too. Without challenge video games are completely pointless, I know most of bungie are probably on the left side of politics given how they tend to balance their games to benefit people who are **** at the game and to them "Sharing the wealth" must make them feel so good on the inside, but the fact is that kind of design makes playing games like this completely pointless. I don't want to be handed god tier gear just for being a warm body, I want to earn it. Why should I even bother playing when I can just join a semi active clan and check in daily for free gear? I feel ripped off and I got this game for free, let's hope the DLC which I also bought is better than this nonsense. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There is so much more that Bungie can be doing with Destiny, and I was hoping they'd hit the nail on some of them with D2, but alas it's not the case. It's like no one at Bungie plays any MMOs that have really well designed customization and progression systems.

    * Why have skill points if you can only spend on one part of the tree at the time? This is just an illusion of choice. Introduce real and meaningful alternative traits.
    * Why is the main character mute during the story? This fundamentally straightjackets the type of story that can be told, all for the incredibly misguided principle of Bungie's "not putting words in your character's mouth". Well, that only works if you can *say* something yourself. If you can't, well, then put *some* words in there or else we will just be the mute sidekicks and lapdogs that do what everyone else tells us to do.
    * No meaningful item use, gun customization (to offset lack of perk RNG), quest system, lack of real NPCs with stories and chat dialogue. All the *world building* that Destiny so sorely lacks.

You could say that many of these things don't matter and that it's demanding too much. But the problem is that Destiny is consciously aiming to be a mixed MMORPG/shooter. If it *consciously* wants to inhabit that space, it automatically is on the hook for implementing the most basic systems that are expected in the respective genres.

Aside from this, there are the little things that are just facepalm-inducing in this game.

    * Why no sparrow horns?
    * Why no post-mission stats?
    * Why only 4v4 in PvP? Why not have both 4v4 and 6v6 modes? 6v6 is incredibly fun most of the time!
    * Why cater **all** the game mechanics to be beholden to PvP, and refuse to have separate PvE and PvP systems? This results in inevitably twisted game mechanics. Whoever heard of a FPS where your shotgun is a "power" type weapon instead of a secondary? These are vagaries of Destiny PvP that have forced themselves onto the entire game. The collateral damage is that PvE is now a predominantly primary-only snoozefest, and every boss is basically like good ol' Rockets McDickface (though not as bad as the OG one).

It's like Bungie decided to play whack-a-mole with all the little aspects of Destiny they wanted to improve, without stepping back for a second and looking at the big picture to see if the resulting changes would make *sense* when put together. There is a role for bottom-up game design, but you have to have **some** top-down design or else the result will be a hodgepodge of lateral and vertical changes, with little sense of improvement in overall direction towards the **vision** of the game.

And oh god the story. It's much more fleshed out than in D1, that's for sure. But boy is it *cheesy*. That wonder I felt in the early stages of D1, of vast dystopian worlds with so much mystery and room for imagination, is now firmly out the window, and replaced with cheesy tropes, "rah rah our hero is the bestest", and overly excessive humour.

In essence, there is a lack of vision for Destiny. There **was** a clear vision during the development of D1, but that was famously gutted at the last minute, and we are suffering from the consequences to this day. Is it a serious sci-fi story-driven shooter? Is it a competitive PvP game? Is it an RPG with meaningful loot and character progression? Or is it a tongue-in-cheek casual FPS (like Overwatch aims to be)? At this point, the answer is "a bit of this, a bit of that, but all mashed together and not doing any of them well."

Instead, to make it work, Bungie forces artificial grind (ooh now we can only infuse using weapons of the same type, extra grind yay!) to *compensate* for the lack of meaningful quests, story, and so on, which themselves stem from a lack of true world building and clear-headed implementation of *basic* MMO game systems.

As a D1 veteran who invested many hours in the game, and a long-term MMORPG and FPS fan who is begging for a true union of the two, it's frankly more than a little heartbreaking.

PC users will enjoy the bright particles for about 5 minutes and then realize its just a cover for how poorly made this game is. The musical number is on par if not the best thing coming out of Bungie Studios. PvP is the worst content in this game. 4v4 just isn't a viable option in 2017. No dedicated servers because of cost really confuses me if Bungie is trying really hard to make this game into a competitve PvP game. Did I mention how poorly the matchmaking is? Micro transactions. Corporate greed. More money that they don't need. Many companies that work harder don't do this crap... But companies like crapdivision like to do it because they are super greedy and don't give a crap about how great of a video game experience you will have. Nothing says EF you to the customer more than this. A system designed to pressure suckers into wasting money.

The developers only have so much precious time to work on the game in order to make it better and better. A game is only as good as how much work goes into it for the most part. They could be spending ALL of their time making it as good as possible but what do they do instead? They cut out a huge chunk of their time in order to implement a scam your wallet system. This isn't for the gamers... You're an insane idiot if you think that... Wake up! It's for corporate gains. Which means this is a game with no heart. No soul. It was designed to trick stupid people into thinking it's good while ripping them off big time. This isn't a matter of opinion. It's a fact that it's not a very impressive shooter compared to the greats I listed above and it's clearly designed to rip you off and pressure you into wasting more and more money on stuff that's only worth while to idiots with tiny brains/low standards. If you are one of these suckers then you seriously need to stop buying these games...

And don't give me that "I love the game and never bought micro transactions"

1... You're a idiot so of course you would love something mediocre/terrible.

And 2... Even if you're telling the truth about not buying micro transactions (I don't believe you because you're a moron who's into this game in the first place)....... But if you are being truthful... Think to yourself right now... Think hard about something that I'm going to ask you here...

Have you ever saw a micro transaction and felt some what tempted to buy it? The answer will be yes. As you grind and grind and grind senselessly whilst bored as hell... You're going to get a feeling that tells you that if you buy micro transactions, your grind will be shortened. Of course you're going to feel that way. That's what this system does. It's designed to tempt you into doing something that's totally not worth it. And that's what's wrong with it...

It's a dirty trick and only idiots fall for it. Sadly most gamers are idiots which is why micro transactions are super popular in video games today. It's bad enough just about all of our multiplayer games are getting screwed like this... But it's happening to single player games too. The new Shadow of War will have them. How lame is that? DLC is bad enough as it's usually over priced weak sauce that should have come with the game. But micro transactions are really pushing it as they can cost you close to thousands if you go overboard like a idiot. My advice? Ignore games like this altogether... Besides... No micro transaction game EVER falls into the category of greats like ocarina of time, chrono trigger, smash bros melee, metal gear solid, star craft 1 etc etc... Why play a dumb ass over priced micro transaction game that's mediocre at best when you could be playing the best of the best? You know deep down that you're not missing out when you pass up a game like theftiny poo.

Lets talk about the game play... Many shooters take a bit of skill to master. The good players can pull off some impressive stuff from time to time. You see that in shooters like the older ones. Quake, counter strike, halo ce... YOU DON'T see that in crap like Theftiny poo. In theftiny poo you see high auto aim, bullet magnetism, and super powers that any scrub can get good at abusing. The skill gap isn't that high. It's a game for dude bros. It's not for the skilled. It's for cod kids lol.

The story... Part 1 didn't have a story and this one does but it's corny, short, and not interesting. The only good thing about it is a few jokes I guess but you shouldn't buy a game like this for its story. You can watch that for free on youtube.

Content is low as crap. People beating the game in just a few hours and then what's left to do? Grind grind grind... Yawn...

Maybe it gets to about a 7 out of 10 once all the DLC is released one day but at that point the game is massively over priced. It's already overpriced as it is. It's not even a expansion lol. I seen free games offer more than this haha! So I give it a 3 out of 10 for being the scum of gaming. Games like this are what's making new video games these days fail miserably.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. destiny 1 was bad, but this, this is a lilttle better. the game gets good when you get on the ending, but are you sure you want to waste lots of days of your life to get to the good content. btw, the content is still not good, but its satisfatory if you really like shooters, which i do.

now to the bad points - this is based on bungies previous achievements and other great fps games.
1- the story campaing is terrible- nothing really feels like happens, i sometimes got bored and turned on my tv, i used to play d1 while watching tv by how interesting and engaged it was.... this was irony.,
2 - nothing happens in the story, --- oh, the city and plot blows up, but who cares, nobody dies really, the closest thing you see of an emotional shot is some bots being destroyed.... really **** in the game i felt more interested in stopping playing and go read something
3 - theres not many fun moments in the main plot - its all so repetitve and easy it gets boring, the only good thing is the scenery in some missions and patrols and driving a tank, but thats it.
4 - shooting is only fun in the harder dificulty missions, which they basically removed, but now there is only the strikes, the nightfalls and the raid, i wish there was no stupid time-investment bull**** to get me there, thats the only good thing in the game, in the previous game all missions had a hard versions FFS
5 -patrols is still barely interesting - one questgiver, some missions and public events, nothing much, some are very repetitive, some are good, and some patrols are so bad, IO and Nessus are basically the same ****ty place, IO(i think thats the last map or is it Nessus) is just a **** terrible labyrinth of rocks
6 - the community sucks - lots of people faking that they like it because some part of their income is related to destiny fanatics.
7 - pvp became more boring - less variety and more repetitve encounters, dont misunderstand, its a tight game of skill, but thats it, the fun game that existed before in d1 got canned

Destiny could have been more, but as a sequel, its a disappointment who thought Bungie would do a good job.

But if you never played destiny 1 , rent this game or borrow a copy from a friend. if you cant do neither dont bother, just go play something good or wait for d3.

Besides, finally there will be some competition for the market, hopefully that will make Bungie stop screwing around

Destiny 1 at its peak with the Rise of Iron expansion was a masterpiece and a shining example of how properly implemented expansions can turn an otherwise mediocre game into a fantastic experience.

Destiny 2 takes the Destiny 1 formula, gives us the same great gunplay, improves the story and gives us one of the most memorable soundtracks in recent memory, then completely ruins it by skipping out on the fantastic quality of life changes, game modes and huge amount of player choice that made Destiny 1 so great. The huge variety in weapon perks that kept players coming back even after maxing their characters out to look for that perfect god roll is gone. Strikes have been reduced to a random playlist only and can't be individually selected, not that you'll do any because their rewards are more easily earned via quicker public events, strike scoring and strike specific loot are both gone. The nightfall, once one of Destiny 1's most challenging activities has been given a timer and reduced to a glorified speedrun mode. And to top it all off their newest raid the leviathan is an incredible looking raid ruined by some of the most puzzling and tedious raid design decisions I've seen in any MMO.

The puzzling design cuts also extend into PvP, with all matches limited to 4 versus 4 only, and all matches limited to two random playlists meaning players now can’t select the kind of matches they enjoy. Players petitioned bungie for months back in Destiny 1 for custom PvP matches and were ecstatic when there request was finally granted, this is now gone for Destiny 2. Players also asked bungie back in year 1 of Destiny 1 to separate PvP and PvE modes to facilitate balancing and to prevent PvE players being forced into PvP, this has not been done and has in fact been worsened by forcing PvE players to go through 10 PvP matches per week if they want to maximize their power level gains for the week.

In conclusion, Destiny 2 is fantastic until you hit level 20, then it becomes a hollow shell of its former self. The game feels like the team that made it were completely oblivious to the progress Destiny 1’s team made during its expansions especially with regards to the endgame.

Even if Bungie backtracks on some of these horrendous missteps, there’s evidence that the dev team is either flailing around without a clear idea of the experience they want to present, or even worse, they’re happy to offer the least amount of mediocre content possible until the player base starts pushing back. When free-to-play titles like Warframe and Let it Die seem monumentally more generous and offer vastly more entertainment value than a triple-A sixty dollar release built with a budget large enough to feed whole continents, it’s clear that something has gone horribly wrong.

It’s this sense of streamlined player experience that really defines Destiny 2. Where the first game had you grinding for hours just to experience increasingly diminishing returns, this is a sequel that trims away its processor’s frustrations, firmly putting fun first.

Destiny 2 is tough to compare to other shooters or games, but it is evidently a better title than part 1. The campaign is longer, the progression makes more sense, the structure is more satisfying and the sheen and splendor on the various planets entices even more. Destiny is comparable with its predecessor after the add-on The Taken King, and is therefore a more solid foundation for the coming months of content.
