Huge improvement over the first installment. The raid and competitive PVP mode are not even out yet, so I am not sure why I am seeing 0 out of 10 reviews. With an actual storyline and loads of endgame content, consistent loot and huge maps that contain many hidden areas with tons of side quests, Destiny 2's single player element is what 1 should have been. As far as PVP goes, I think Destiny 1 was more diverse. Competitive mode usually results in people rage quitting after a couple losses and you playing 1v4. I'd say PvE is a 8, PVP is 7. A big issue though is the rewards. There's so many reskins of weapons and armor it borders on pathetic. Exotics are't very exotic anymore and there's only a couple that are even worth using. There's no reason to keep playing if all the rewards for playing are garbage that you'll put in your vault to collect. Expand

Where to start, only played beta but I agree this game is pretty much just Destiny 1 all over again, except now we need to wait for all the patches and endgame..My biggest complaint is that all the critic reviews are super high but the user reviews are so mixed. Like the companies just pay the critics to give them good scores so more people buy the game. It's false advertising.

Does nothing to bring in anyone new to the franchise. If anything, the additional micro-transactions and failure to deliver new experiences will likely deter fans who had any hope left of this already fragile franchise.

I have to give this about an 8 because although it simply feels like a large expansion, which it pretty much is, it changes the game completely. Don't mind the low scores, they are just idiots who haven't even given the game a chance and are just posting spam.

If you liked the original, and wanted a better story, this is the game for you. It has a better story, basically the same combat, and more open world(not much more open, but it's better) than this is perfect for you.

I just hope Destiny 3 will have pure open world. That's my only hope and that's why I can't score it any higher.

When Destiny 2 was announced I was unsure if I would try it out. With Destiny you either loved it or you hated it. The story was virtually non-existent with most of it being on a website. It was a poor and lazy way to implement it, so when Bungie announced that Destiny 2 would have a proper story with all the lore available in game it was enough to convince me to give it a go.

It was a poor and lazy way to implement it, so when Bungie announced that Destiny 2 would have a proper story with all the lore available in game it was enough to convince me to give it a go.
Visually Destiny 2 features an expansive game world that is beautifully designed with plenty of detail. Each of the 4 new areas feels unique from Each other and are packed with detail meaning you can play hour after hour without the game feeling too repetitive. Destiny 2 feels very polished as you might expect, with the controls and movement all well established. The gun play is spot on with weapons feeling unique and different across the various classes. Fans who played the first game to death will feel right at home. Bungie haven't strayed far from their original formula in Destiny 2 but they've made a lot of important changes that give the game a fresh feel to it.
The story is very much front and centre in Destiny 2 and it kicks off in spectacular fashion. Whilst I'm not a fan of the pre-rendered cut scenes used in Destiny 2 it's a minor distraction in what is otherwise thrilling storyline. The voice acting is well done and the characters are interesting. I did struggle to really care for my mute character at first although now I'm at end game I'm finding myself feeling more connected to him. The plot is perhaps a bit safe and whilst it ends as strongly as it started I felt it was a bit flat for the middle third. Over all its a massive improvement over the first game and I love being able to dive into the lore connected to certain weapons, in game.
The story will take you around 12 hours to finish, if you don't find yourself side tracked by other activities. Once you hit end game you've easily got hours upon hours of content to enjoy and of course you'll be trying to max out your character so you'll want to dive in to one of the many quests, strikes, Adventures, public activities and challenges. All this can be done with different characters too so if you want to get the most out of the game I'd suggest going for one of each class.
The strikes are challenging yet fun and reward you well for your time as do most of the activities found across the games locations. PvP though was perhaps the biggest surprise for me. I've discovered that I'm fairly good a Destiny 2 when partaking in PvP and I think there's one very good reason for that. Through out my time playing Destiny 2 I often felt like I was playing a Halo game, Halo 3 to be exact. This becomes even more so whilst battling it out in the crucible against other players. I often expected to see Master Chief on my screen. This is in no way a bad thing as it just shows how good Destiny 2 is. I've loved every minute of my time playing the game and my experience with Destiny 2 could not be more different to the one I had with the first game.
That's not to say it's all good news because it's not I'm afraid. Rather predictable it seems Destiny 2 has been Activisioned. This is where a great game is made and then the corporate suits take over and throw in their microtransaction crap. Destiny 2 gives players the option to buy silver which can then be exchanged for in game items. These items seem to be random but you can pick up shaders (more on them in a minute), mods that can affect your character (arguably introducing a pay to win aspect) and a bunch of other stuff. Now shaders used to be a "once you have it you can use it over and over again" type thing. In Destiny 2 however you can apply the shader once and if you discard that piece of armour then it's gone. You can use them on each piece of armour (1 shader per part) meaning if you want to use the same shader on your whole character you need 5 of them and more if you want matching weapons etc. Adding random drops to that equation in my eyes is nothing more than in game gambling. Remember that this is a 16 rated game in the UK but one that kids much younger play. Yes I agree that I'm awash with shaders and that they drop like rain drops in England BUT microtransactions are in there for a reason and the temptation is there. You'll have to go to the vendor to collect an engram you've earned in-game and that's where they try to tempt you by showing you all the goodies you might be able to getFortunately, the bad is far outweighed by the good in Destiny 2 and like I said, I hated the first game but Bungie have nailed it in Destiny 2.

My main reaction to this game is the frustration of seeing how much missed potential there is for the franchise. There is so much more that Bungie can be doing with Destiny, and I was hoping they'd hit the nail on some of them with D2, but alas it's not the case. It's like no one at Bungie plays any MMOs that have really well designed customization and progression systems.

The story is good definitely an improvement from destiny one's base game, cause you have an actual goal. But the ending of the main story is just dumb (don't want to spoil it).
The weapon system is also good but compared to d1 more focused on pvp. Bosses in the normal missions are fun, in the strikes just complete damage sponges with the lowered damage output it's annoying.
I'm gonna trust bungie that the raid is gonna be great (like most of the d1 ones).
Skill trees are significantly simplified. It's a good in the way of having an optimized build it's bad because of individualisation. It would be better if you could just use whatever you want (like in d1) than having the "optimized" build.
It's also sad that all classes only got one "new" subclass the rest are basically the same as the old.
But bungie good job it's a really fun game it's not perfect, it's good at best better than base d1 so let's hope the dlc make it better. And one more thing why not just give us a really good game at base instead of having an ok to good game to make it good with dlc...
    I'm a d1 addict might be a little bias ;)

I rate games based on how fun they are to play and Destiny 2 is fun to play. Is it as good as it could be? Probably not but nonetheless it is a fun game that has a decent story and will provide me with hours of entertainment whether playing with others or solo.

The graphics and sound are top notch. The gaming mechanics are as good as they get with a shooter. As stated previously the story is intriguing and actually helps define more about the Destiny universe, much more than the original.

To me this game is worth buying, playing and enjoying. I'll get hundreds of hours of playtime with it and enjoy most all of it. Will there be some grinding... sure. If you've ever played any game with levels and loot you know there is always grinding to be had. But if you don't enjoy leveling or seeking some rare item that takes time to get you should switch entertainment forms because that pretty much sums up gaming in today's world.

I'm glad to see so many enjoying the game as I am. For those who hate it and have called it basically trash... I have a copy of Bound by Flame and Hour of Victory I'll gladly sell you.

I've completed the story and now am having a ton of fun completing challenges and having to figure out how to unlock Exotic items. I read a lot of reviews talking about the grind, as a long term MMORPG player this is childs play. The end game content is actually fun and challenge based for example having to get X amount of head shots with pistols to unlock a specific item.

Bungie have done a great job with the loot system too. Basically anything you do from PVP, to public events to strikes you're rewarded with gear that is incrementally better than what you have. This means whether you have 5 minutes or 5 hours to play , you're always making progress.

At 270 light I'm having alot of fun between doing strikes with mates, jumping into some pvp (crucible) or completing challenges to unlock new weapons.

If you played Destiny 1 for its entire lifecycle, you'll know that The Taken King was Destiny 1.5. It really shook up the mechanics of the game, introduced a coherent and pretty fun story.

Destiny 2 earns its 2. It's a radical shakeup, huge improvement over the original in terms of storytelling, visuals, convenience…and it's enormous. Seriously there's a ton to do right out of the gate. There's plenty here for your $60.

But if you stick around for the long haul, Bungie is going to continue to improve, refine, and expand.. just like it did in D1.

Bungie is working against impossible expectations for this game, and what they've accomplished is pretty extraordinary. There's not another game experience quite like it.

The story is part of the same silly arc from D1, and this is not why you play Destiny, but the production values are much higher delivering a deliberately over the top and campy good vs evil campaign, while the new "adventures" offer small stories along with the gunplay in a more digestible format than the tired old cut scene approach we got in the opening section. Firstly, I would like to inform the reader that this would be my first analysis in Meta-critic.

Destiny 2, compared to the original, is simply better because of the improvements that have been made not only in the campaign but also in the game's ability to introduce its story to the player. Some of the secondary activities the player can do, such as strikes, are much more in-depth and detailed. We can not forget that the addition of optional missions and the journeys in each world have diversified the "open-world" that the game presents. Personally, the most notable improvement was the satisfying gunplay that was missing on the original Destiny.

Nevertheless, even with all these improvements that the new game presents, there has been the implementation and alteration of mechanics possibly unwanted by the community, such as the transference of secondary weapons to heavy weapons.

We have to keep in mind that, for now, it is impossible to clarify an analysis of the game totally, since there is still content to be available to current players, such as Raid that launches on September 13, or the new PvP mode that promises to have a similar role to the Trials of Osiris.

Note: Even though the story featured in Destiny 2 was considerably better, it still leaves something to be desired, since the mystery and seriousness of the original have been eliminated. We can say that the difficulty of the game is easier, but the time that the player has to spend to reach a high power level (270-300) is very high.

For now, the repeatability that the game introduces to its players is vicious, just like its predecessor. We can conclude that the consumer can only hate or love the game.

At the time this review was made, my hunter had 274 power, while my titan was 220 and my Warlock was about to end the campaign.

There are two ways to approach this game and depending on your approach the experience will differ by a large margin.
Most of the attraction to Destiny comes in the end-game content where the 'grind' for ever better gear really comes into play. It's almost a necessity that the end-game grind is played with friends as without anyone to share, compete against and compare with the game

Most of the attraction to Destiny comes in the end-game content where the 'grind' for ever better gear really comes into play. It's almost a necessity that the end-game grind is played with friends as without anyone to share, compete against and compare with the game almost becomes pointless.

Without friends to share the experience with then you could argue that grinding for better gear post-campaign is irrelevant as you can't ultimately then start any of the advanced end game content like the Nightfall or the upcoming Raid.
Yes you can find a team via LFG or via the upcoming 'guided games' in-game feature to find like-minded players but these people are not friends. Of course you may get lucky and make friends via LFG but chances are low.

If I had to score this game as a solo player then I would be going in at 6 or possibly 7.
    + entertaining story
    + great gun play
+ good variety of gear making sure load outs don't go stale.

But this isn't what Destiny is. Destiny is about the community of players on your friends list. As a social experience nothing has ever come close to the Destiny franchise. I've been gaming now for 33 years through every console and home computer and all gaming genre's.
After the tried and tested and ultimately tiresome Call of Duty type shooters I hung up my shooting boots. There was no innovation anymore. Then Destiny came along and despite all the problems it has faced what cannot be argued against is the way it has made and ultimately raised the social aspect of gaming to heights I have never experienced.

The way you work together as a team of 3, 4 or 6 depending on the activity and the sense of achievement you get from completing that activity is up there with the best gaming moments I have ever had.

Destiny 2 continues in this vain improving and refining the whole package.
An actual campaign story now exists with legitimately interesting (if not entirely original) characters. I wanted to know more about our new villain with every beautifully crafted cut scene that we were given.
The environments are stunning and are a perfect sandbox for future story expansions and live events.
The gun play is still as good as it has ever been. Yes the weapon system has changed but rather than give you a knee-jerk 'this is terrible' opinion, having now played for approx 40 hours I can say it works absolutely fine. Kinetic, Energy and Power weapons now make sense and finally Shotguns and Fusion Rifles can be massively overpowered without causing uproar in the PVP community.

As for PVP. The aforementioned weapon changes may have been influenced by the PVP gripes of Destiny 1. The first game's PVP suffered at the hands of shotguns and abilities. Many serious PVP players would bemoan how easy it was to get shotgun kills or kills with abilities (such as grenades), methods that seemingly required less 'gun skill' than a purely primary vs primary contest would offer.
Well that's no longer a problem. PVP is now way more focused on primary gun skill which ultimately will offer a purer PVP experience and I'm all for this.
However I'm not a fan of the 4v4 only game modes. 6v6 was great fun and perfectly fit in with PVE 3 and 6 man activities. Many times as a raid group of 6 we would fall into PVP post raid or even run a few PVP matches before a raid while waiting for all members to come online.
This is no longer possible. Nor can you take a 4 man PVP team into a PVE activity without kicking someone out. The balance here is off.

I have seen a lot of moaning about micro-transactions.
Let me tell you that this IS NOT A THING. Yes you can buy some items with Silver (bought with actual money via your consoles store) but these are mostly vanity items. There is one experience boosting item you can buy however all of these items can be bought using in game currency as well!
Once you reach max level, every level up thereafter rewards you with a Bright Engram. Said engram once decrypted gives you a selection of these pay items. Not only this but if you dismantle these items you get something called Bright Dust which works the same as Silver and can be used for purchases (including the experience buffing items). There is no pay-2-win in this game.

Overall this is more of the same. Which in my opinion is a good thing. My friends and I are now hooked on all of the same good things that hooked us to the first Destiny. Long may it continue.

However if you didn't like it before then you're not going to be converted now, this sequel does not re-write the hand book. But the same can be said of any gaming series. You won't like Fifa 18 if Fifa 17 is not your thing. Forza or GT will always just be another car game unless you're a real petrol head.

Well done Bungie. I look forward to the upcoming raid, trials events and future DLC with anticipation.

PC users will enjoy the bright particles for about 5 minutes and then realize its just a cover for how poorly made this game is. The musical number is on par if not the best thing coming out of Bungie Studios. PvP is the worst content in this game. 4v4 just isn't a viable option in 2017. No dedicated servers because of cost really confuses me if Bungie is trying really hard to make this game into a competitve PvP game. Did I mention how poorly the matchmaking is? Strikes take anywhere from 5 minutes just to que a random matchmake amd PvP sufferes an extremely long 10 minutes. My controller shutsoff at this time. Weapon design and creativity is hit or miss. Yes, the look of D2 is pleasing, but after visiting Titan youll see where all the resource went too. Its like D2 isnt really D2. More like an annoyance. The grind is still there unfortuanately. The only difference is that it feels far less rewarding. And thats where D2 fails. Its not n average shoot and loot game anymore. HOWEVER... I don't know who decided that one time use shaders were a good idea... They are not. Worst change ever Bungie. This would have been a 9, but for that deeply silly change, have a 0.

I don't see myself playing it a lot because in Destiny 1 I sucked and I assume I'm going to suck here as well. I enjoy the story missions and each feels as if It actually has a purpose. The cutscenes are also fantastic. Giving you snippets into the situation of the Cabal on Earth.

The grind is back, at least in the early game, using a weapon you really want can be annoying. I have been forced to use a scout rifle I hate because it has a higher power level that I need for the mission. In the end game you can infuse, but in the beginning, it is annoying. The new Public Events are a blast and the director is a huge improvement.

Graphically there isn't much improvement but Bungie is managed to make it look much better without improving resolution. New details in the game make each enemy and surface look more smooth and the lighting is improved drastically.

Most importantly Destiny 2 has lots of things to do that don't get boring or repetitive. It would appear Destiny 2 is a Love it or Hate it game. So many people are rating it either a 10 or a 0. Take all of those reviews with a grain of salt. D2 is a middling game. As for the price: I just paid $39.99 USD for a large expansion to a popular franchise. Though it has a basic MP component, that's not why you buy that game. $59.99 for D2 just isn't that bad considering the crucible, events, etc. that will occur in the next several months/years. 4v4 crucible is fine, it actually encourages more teamwork. I also don't understand the hate with Microtransactions. There are plenty of games that have this feature. The items for sale have little to no impact on gameplay. Anything that would give the player an advantage is already available with plentiful amount for free, by playing.

It was very short, boring and doesn't give you any interest in any of the characters whatsoever. This time however, its the other way round. The campaign in this new instalment is definitely an improvement from the first one. The characters are more interesting (and funny), starring Nolan North as the Guardian (big fan of his work), but the gunplay feels smoother, it is less repetitive and it has a much more engaging narrative and amazing graphics. So what is it that really lets this game down for me? The multiplayer. This is a big factor for me because once I complete the story I will be ready to spend the rest of my time with this game on the multiplayer like I did in the first Destiny as I did not give a s**t about the story. Unfortunately for me, that was simply NOT the case. When playing the open beta I was not impressed with the multiplayer. Was it the imbalanced classes, the boring game modes, the short and boring rounds or the broken mechanics such as the class abilities or the stiff turning controls? It was all of them! Though I still went and bought the game mainly for the campaign and because I though that this was just the beta stages of the multiplayer. I knew there would be more maps, classes and game modes which it does offer but all the problems are still there. All of the classes are very imbalanced with some being overpowered and others being underpowered (for example the Hunter is OP while the new Warlock is very underpowered). The entire game itself is a combination of Call of Duty Infinite Warfare and Halo 5. I hated Infinite Warfare and if you did than you will not enjoy this. I did enjoy Halo 5 however. In the first Destiny there was something in the multiplayer that made these two combinations work, with this game however it feels very wrong. Is it because of the futuristic entries into the COD series we've been getting such as Infinite Warfare or was it the disappointment with Halo 5. I could spend an hour of your time saying everything that is wrong or doesn't work in the multiplayer in detail, but to summarise it, it is average at best and boring, frustrating and imbalanced at worst. And for some reason the gunplay in the singleplayer feels really good, even when you team up with other players, but in the multiplayer, the Warlocks guns for example are P-Shooters. Either that or the enemies I fight are bullet sponges. When I say the multiplayer is frustrating its in times such as when I get killed by an enemy I should've killed because I started shooting them first with most of my bullets landing on their body. They obviously had more armour than I did, but with a better gun at the same time that is capable at getting headshots easier, which is probably why they were able to retaliate and kill me, but like I said the classes and weapons are so imbalanced and the abilities are so inconsistent. Overall I would not recommend buying this game just for the multiplayer unless you love the futuristic shooters such as Infinite Warfare, than I would say yes, but wait. If you wanna buy this game for the single player, even then I wouldn't recommend it. As much as I enjoyed this games campaign, it was annoying how you must always be connected to the internet even when you just want to play solo. That was the same problem that the original Destiny had. The campaign is about no more than 10 hours long. If you wanna buy this game for the single player than I suggest wait a couple of months for a couple of price drops, than you should pick it up as it is definitely worth paying attention to unlike the first destiny. It seems that the game got almost everything right with the single player improving from the original in almost every way, but they just ruined the multiplayer for me. The multiplayer in the first Destiny was not perfect but was very fun and enjoyable. I am disappointed how instead of taking everything good about the original Destiny's multiplayer and make it better, they almost completely f**ked it up, but at least flag capture was untouched, which is good because its my favourite in this game but bad because I wished they would've improved on it because I found it only decent in the first Destiny. I just hope that either they make some major changes to the multiplayer throughout the course of next year or that Destiny 3 will do everything they did right with the multiplayer from Destiny 1 and not like Destiny 2 and that the campaign is just as good as it is here, because so far, once I fully finish the campaign, this is a game that I will forget about a couple of weeks later until either I trade it in or until the multiplayer is reworked. If it is, then I may do a re-review and re-evaluate my opinion on the multiplayer because so far I am NOT impressed what so ever. This game is definitely another disappointment just like the original but in the opposite way. Expand

BUY TITANFALL 2 INSTEAD. Bungie's strong suit going back all the way to the original Halo was pvp. PVE content has never been their bread and butter. Unfortunately, D2 has neither. PVE is recycled fodder enemies from D1 and the pvp changes are a significant step back. if you value pvp, play Titanfall 2 instead, it is a much better game.

I'm looking forward to the raid next week and some pvp now the servers are online, but based on the single player experience so far I should probably give it an 8 having only played half the campaign, but I feel from what I've played that this gets a well deserved 9 from me, and could well be a 10 once I've played all it has to offer, but we will see. Bottom line- It's a complete blast and an awesomely fun game. It might put rainbow six siege at risk as my new go-to shooter, as both the gameplay and gunplay are seriously addictive. Expand

Excellent shooter, just what I was looking for. I dived into Destiny when it came out and had a blast. And yes, for me it didn't last for months and months but all in all I got more then my money worth. Destiny 2 is still very much Destiny, which is a good thing for me. Even the same rants (and zero ratings) can be seen today for 2 as compated to 1. Awesome ;-)

D2 does a great job updating the graphics and making the game more accessible to old and new players. I love the fast travel and presentation of the campaign. Graphics are a nice upgrade and new planets look fantastic! Servers worked well, I played for 10 hours straight with no problems with friends!! Very solid game with so much to do and enough new changes to make it feel fresh.

I see Destiny 2 as a worthy evolution of Destiny 1. I generally always play PvE so thats what my review focus's on.

Pros • New Director available in all activities. • Gun classes change. Far more diverse weapon combos now. • Beautiful graphics. • Refined gunplay. • Less Grindy. I am not doing the same thing, so many different activities to level up(I'm at 250). Almost too many.

    • Campaign. While improved and beautiful, still abit meh.
    • Currency. Maybe just me, but have not really spent any glimmer(except for treasure maps off Clayde). Most of the Vendor weapons become redundant very quickly as I can tell. I should feel the need to spend glimmer, not just horde it like I am. D1 had a Glimmer cap, that encouraged me to spend it.
    • Strikes not in Campaign. I still have only seen 4 of the potential 6 strikes due to it being random.

8/10 for me. Most of my Cons are fairly minor. If the Raid is great it might be a 9/10

Absolutely fantastic. For someone who never played the first Destiny, I am not disappointed because it didn't meet my expectations because I had none! Not a perfect game, but by far the best and most addicting one I've played all year. It's a shame people rate this anything below a 5 for what is truly a well developed and quality game. After a few days with the game, and experiencing all the content currently available (Trials of the Nine, and the Raid are the main things missing), I can form a mostly complete opinion of the heart of the game.

After playing Destiny 1 on and off throughout its lifespan I was optimistic for D2 and am pleased to see while the core gameplay is nigh identical, the fat has been trimmed and systems refined into a far better core experience than the original did,. It even has a decent campaign that is 95% playable co-operatively in a three man squad. If you liked the original, you're going to love this. Mostly.

There are a couple of choices made during development which while minor do stop me from giving it a perfect rating. Primary of these being the choice to simplify the subclasses. I assume this was done to more easily balance them in PVP, but making the builds from 10 or so different 3 node choices made for a great amount of build diversity. Now these have been trimmed down to a choice between two options per subclass, I don't feel as unique as I did in the original.

The second is the public event system. At first its great, but the same event spawns in the sam eplace every time. It would've made for a much more living breathing world if each event space had a different event spawn on it each time one started.

The last thing I will mention are the shaders. I can't say if the choice to make them single use and sell them in microtransations is a problem, because after two days I haven't played enough to see if it actually IS a problem yet. I'd rather there weren't microtransactions in any game, but like people farting on aircraft, it's a fact of life we are going to have to learn to live with. Every other change to shaders though is 100% positive. Being able to colour each individual item, (equipment, ghosts, ships etc can all be shaded) is a really nice touch and enables me some individuality back from what I lost with the subclasses.

All in all, it's a great game with a bright future.

And for an expansion pack, it's mighty expensive.

Also just like Destiny 1, the game is STILL locked at 30fps. Why in the world do developers think 30fps is still perfectly okay for a first person shooter? It's not. It's jarring. If I play any number of other FPS games (Battlefield, Overwatch, CoD, RE7, Doom, Rainbow Six: Siege, etc) and then come back to Destiny 2, there shouldn't be a long period where my eyes need to adjust in order to enjoy it.

    Introduction
Destiny 2 is a fantastic and compelling game. However, it does lack somewhat in content and originality, yet it is still a massive improvement from the state of the base game of its prequel - Destiny 1 - at Launch. Destiny 2 includes thrilling cinematics during the campaign which make the sequel look like it was made on Unity by a fourteen year old. As much as it adds to and changes the franchise - such as the new game modes in crucible and the acclaimed “Adventures”, which make patrols a whole lot more enjoyable – It does feel a lot like Destiny 1, which is not a bad thing as they have used the same amazing mechanical formula to keep me coming back and Bungie have done a great job at keeping and improving so many aspects of the game, for example the grind for loot is still incredibly addictive and is more so with the new loot to be discovered and claimed. However, it is not without its faults, due to a lack of content, for example, I only ever seem to be able to play two or three strikes, making for a very repetitive grind for gear.
    Prequel
There is no doubt that this sequel is far more enjoyable than Destiny 1 was at launch, and that is because Bungie has learnt from their mistakes. Mistakes like having an incredibly lacklustre campaign, and making the characters that we (eventually) grew to love, bland and almost pointless (I’m looking at you Mysterious Exo Stranger).Destiny 1 only grew properly during the third expansion The Taken King, and lots of new content and changing up the gameplay, bringing in many new players. Destiny 2 seems to be following in these footsteps so far, including breath-taking cinematic cut scenes, with a dash of their famous humour (mostly from fan-favourite character Cayde-6), topped off with beautiful set pieces and incredibly addictive and enjoyable gameplay. I personally believe that really one of the only negative parts that Destiny 2 has borrowed from its predecessor is an overall lack in content. Don’t get me wrong, Destiny 2 has a lot more to offer, however it still feels underwhelming when the campaign is completed in around 8 hours, and then you are dropped in to repeating the same strikes or go on the same crucible maps again and again. I just want it to be spiced up a little bit more.
    Gameplay
Well… it’s basically Destiny 1, with a whole lot more explosions, enemies, death, fun, and more explosions. It is by far the most enjoyable game I have played in a while simply for the gameplay alone. Its simplistic use of controls mixed with the fluidity of gunplay adds up to a near perfect experience, I just wish it had more variation. I am yet to attempt the raid so bare that in mind as so far a majority of what I have done is the campaign, followed by the adventures, then grinded out crucible and strikes. It gets slightly dull after a while… Yet I’m always drawn back, back to the rewarding feel you get when you finally obtain the exotic piece of gear you’ve been searching so hard for, or when you finally have a power level high enough to attempt the nightfall and begin to grind all over again.
    Competitors
I don’t have much to say about Destiny’s competitors as it is such a unique game that really can’t and shouldn’t be compared to another. However, if I am to compare it to other shooter giants such as Call of Duty, then I’d say that Destiny 2 is a whole lot more enjoyable, for me that is. I grew tired of COD’s mechanics that never really change, whereas Destiny and Destiny 2 are the type of games that keep me playing all night, and once I do finally get some sleep, it is with me in my dreams. I can’t escape it and I love it. I wouldn’t really call it a competitor, but it is clear that Destiny and Destiny 2 can be compared to the Halo series for the right reasons. However, this is only the case because they were both amazingly designed by Bungie, and should only be compared in how well they are doing in creating truly great games.
    Multiplayer aspects
I’ve always loved this aspect of Destiny, because it has brought me so many enjoyable moments and new friendships. Destiny 2 does not lack in this factor, it even improves on it with guided games (matchmaking essentially) into previously only organised fireteam game modes. I believe this will bring the community a lot closer together, and will allow for almost everyone to play the end game content, which Destiny is basically made for. In addition to this, Crucible is still a massive part of Destiny 2, and is such an amazing way to play competitive PVP.
    Final Verdict
In conclusion, Destiny 2 is an amazing game, however it lacks in content at the moment, which actually makes me look forward to the future content Bungie releases. It includes the same incredibly addictive formula of gameplay, with a few new twists in additions, I just wish it was a bit easier to reach end game without having to grind the same few activities.

The story-telling is fantastic and an incredible improvement to Destiny 1's disconnected and mostly confusing plotline. Outside of main story missions, there are a plethora of activities for players to do: public events, lost sectors, strikes, patrol missions, PVP, Adventures, and of course the upcoming release of the raid. After +1000 hours of Destiny 1, D2 feels fresh, active, and most importantly fun! Joining a fireteam with friends and going on missions and strikes is incredibly satisfying and a hundred times better than D1 where you would have to leave the planet to go to orbit before selecting the next event. In D2, my friends and I have been able to jump into a mission in the EDZ, break down at The Farm, and get right into the strike playlist with no issue and the ease of slicing butter with a hot knife.
I fully plan on playing the hell out of this game, and once you start playing it's very hard to put down. One second you are running through an 'Adventure', the next a public event starts and you start doing that, and a wandering world boss comes up and joins the fray. It is a step forward for the franchise and I cannot wait to get my hands on the new raid in a week!

These games are made for the stupid... Sorry to offend people who bought it but it's true lol. Hear me out...

Micro transactions. Corporate greed. More money that they don't need. Many companies that work harder don't do this crap... But companies like crapdivision like to do it because they are super greedy and don't give a crap about how great of a video game experience you will have. Nothing says EF you to the customer more than this. A system designed to pressure suckers into wasting money.

The developers only have so much precious time to work on the game in order to make it better and better. A game is only as good as how much work goes into it for the most part. They could be spending ALL of their time making it as good as possible but what do they do instead? They cut out a huge chunk of their time in order to implement a scam your wallet system. This isn't for the gamers... You're an insane idiot if you think that... Wake up! It's for corporate gains. Which means this is a game with no heart. No soul. It was designed to trick stupid people into thinking it's good while ripping them off big time. This isn't a matter of opinion. It's a fact that it's not a very impressive shooter compared to the greats I listed above and it's clearly designed to rip you off and pressure you into wasting more and more money on stuff that's only worth while to idiots with tiny brains/low standards. If you are one of these suckers then you seriously need to stop buying these games...

And don't give me that "I love the game and never bought micro transactions"

1... You're a idiot so of course you would love something mediocre/terrible.

And 2... Even if you're telling the truth about not buying micro transactions (I don't believe you because you're a moron who's into this game in the first place)....... But if you are being truthful... Think to yourself right now... Think hard about something that I'm going to ask you here...

Have you ever saw a micro transaction and felt some what tempted to buy it? The answer will be yes. As you grind and grind and grind senselessly whilst bored as hell... You're going to get a feeling that tells you that if you buy micro transactions, your grind will be shortened. Of course you're going to feel that way. That's what this system does. It's designed to tempt you into doing something that's totally not worth it. And that's what's wrong with it...

It's a dirty trick and only idiots fall for it. Sadly most gamers are idiots which is why micro transactions are super popular in video games today. It's bad enough just about all of our multiplayer games are getting screwed like this... But it's happening to single player games too. The new Shadow of War will have them. How lame is that? DLC is bad enough as it's usually over priced weak sauce that should have come with the game. But micro transactions are really pushing it as they can cost you close to thousands if you go overboard like a idiot. My advice? Ignore games like this altogether... Besides... No micro transaction game EVER falls into the category of greats like ocarina of time, chrono trigger, smash bros melee, metal gear solid, star craft 1 etc etc... Why play a dumb ass over priced micro transaction game that's mediocre at best when you could be playing the best of the best? You know deep down that you're not missing out when you pass up a game like theftiny poo.

Lets talk about the game play... Many shooters take a bit of skill to master. The good players can pull off some impressive stuff from time to time. You see that in shooters like the older ones. Quake, counter strike, halo ce... YOU DON'T see that in crap like Theftiny poo. In theftiny poo you see high auto aim, bullet magnetism, and super powers that any scrub can get good at abusing. The skill gap isn't that high. It's a game for dude bros. It's not for the skilled. It's for cod kids lol.

The story... Part 1 didn't have a story and this one does but it's corny, short, and not interesting. The only good thing about it is a few jokes I guess but you shouldn't buy a game like this for its story. You can watch that for free on youtube.

Content is low as crap. People beating the game in just a few hours and then what's left to do? Grind grind grind... Yawn...

Maybe it gets to about a 7 out of 10 once all the DLC is released one day but at that point the game is massively over priced. It's already overpriced as it is. It's not even a expansion lol. I seen free games offer more than this haha! So I give it a 3 out of 10 for being the scum of gaming. Games like this are what's making new video games these days fail miserably.

You can see so many party crashers here, just coming in to score "0" and lower the rating on an amazing game. Well done Bungie, keep up the good work!

If would be great if those playing on PS4 Pro could actually play the game without it crashing. As is I cannot recommenced this game on PS4 Pro as it continually crashes and is unplayable.

Still unplayable on PS4 Pro. Destiny 2 had a known catastrophic error found in Beta but released the game anyways. Horrible Customer Service thousands are affected but no real response.

I do not recommend it. and the people who give it a score of 10, are activision workers and they themselves make the votes .... 0/10 this is called Destiny 1.5 is a Fraud

Pay no attention to the trolls with the zero scores. All the people that would give it a high score are too busy actually playing the game. If you liked Destiny 1 than you need to get this one. Destiny 2 improves in every single area from the first game. Best new multiplayer this year by far. Its too bad metacritic reflects bad scores because all the trolls had to rush and give the game a zero.

Rehashed **** EXact same crap as d1. Dull boring campaign. 0% innovation. Same old rng loot gambling simulator. Forced expansions down your throat. Not a sequel, more like a dlc

It's sad to say but it's Destiny 1.5 the DLC. after beating the cheesy story in under 12hours I was kinda left disappointed. It still feels like a mmo..that is missing all the MMO features. Most MMO part is the hub....guess that makes Splatoon 2 an MMO also.

The 30 frames per second lock is a joke for PvP. Reminds me of playing Golden Eye on N64 with 4 players. It could have been a good game, but I feel pretty ripped off that the developers would release it when the game-play is like molasses. 30 frames per second is fine for a single player adventure game, but a competitive PvP first person shooter!? First and last Bungie game I'm gonna buy. So glad I just bought the base game.

Ok, everything I was expecting. The core mechanics from the 1 are there. Thankfully it's one of the best interface ive seen in a game. The graphics are phenomenal. On my ps4 Pro I never seen a game popping that much out of the screen. The color and the lights are getting me out of this world. Don't worry to hit level 20 because that's when the game start in my opinion. A masterpiece from bungie.

Headline - if you liked destiny 1 your will like destiny 2 (if you didn't like destiny 1 you most likely wont destiny 2).

Everything is better in D2 compared to D1. Graphics, Gameplay, Story, Activities etc. The only negative thing i can say is the rise of micro transactions for shaders and weapon mods. Those who are saying it is D1.5, I am not sure what you are expecting. Of course

In essence if you bought D1 and didn't like it don't buy D2, if you did buy D1 and liked it buy D2. If you didn't buy D1 but you like games such as borderlands , you might want to give it a go. If all you play is cod and FIFA this might be one to pass on.

Improvements made across the board from Destiny 1. There is still room for improvement in PVP as far as matching goes but it's early on and I believe Bungie will address some of the main complaints in due time, or at least I hope they do.

Excellent Game!!! going to give honest pros and cons, but first just want to say that people talk poop about this game alot, and they did before the beta, and they did for destiny one, and they will continue to do so. Its really silly, and 99% of them dont have any real reason for not liking it. Anywhoozey, Destiny 2 is a huge improvement on destiny 1.

    Lets start with the pros!

-Mechanics! The game feels great! top tier fps, from the creators of halo, so expect that quality.
-Loot! This game is all about finding the best weapons and armor. in destiny 1 the rate that loot dropped was way slower. Destiny 2 ups the ante a bit by making loot drops more significant! Also most of the legendary armor looks a lot like the armor that was harder to obtain in D1. Everything you do in the game gives you loot and everything is fun! you will constantly get sidetracked chasing side missions and tasks.

-Story! Not something that bothered me in D1, but most people hated the lack of story in destiny 1, and they were right about it being nearly non-existent. Destiny 2 has a great story, with great sequences, set pieces, and characters, all connected through great CG cutscenes. The story is roughly 6-8 hours if you do nothing but the story, and missions are also alot meatier!
-PVE/PVP! this game is a multiplayer game! But you can pretty much play the whole game without talking to another person. Play the way you want to play and you will earn rewards. Everything in the game can be played with friends. I play almost all pve and have spent hours without touching the PVP portion of the game. either way there is enough game to justify the price tag.

Onto the cons section of the rant!

Glitches/Fixes- Especially early in the life cycle there are minor glitches and hiccups. i have had enemies lag/warp across a room a few times. Also this game will have weapons and abilities that are way overpowered. fortunately bungie has hotfixes and patches that fix these things but as content roles out new op weapons and abilities will come out too. so if your super power titan is destroying people, expect that to be fixed.

Microtransactions - There are microtransactions in this game. people are really upset about this one, but its no different than every other game with microtransactions. theyre all cosmetic! shaders, ships, emotes, auras. you do not have to buy them and they are not shoved in your face. you will also earn loot boxes to recieve these items as well. vote with your wallet on this one, but its no big deal. i spend 5 bucks on it every once in a while, but its worth it to me because i will dump hundreds of hours into the game.

Rehashed D1 content - This is the only thing that i actually didnt like. There are specifically some items and abilities that were in destiny 1 that have returned in destiny 2. A few of them were altered enough to feel super new and fresh, but there are some things that just feel reused. if you didnt play destiny one much this wont really matter, but specifically with the hunter, the abilities all feel like destiny one, and theres only 1 new exotic helmet. Game still feels awesome, just disappointing when you want to see everything updated and new.

There are a couple other things to mention that arent pros or cons just facts that you could take either way so here they are.

-DLC! This game will have hundreds of dollars of DLC releasing over the next few years. If you love the game then its 110% worth it. but if you dont like the main game then dont buy it! More importantly, i see alot of people in comment sections talking about buying the game of the year edition with all the dlc when that eventually releases. My warning is that the goal of this game is to get to the end content where the best content is. This means that Everything but the most recent DLC is basically obsolete. So trust me when i say, you are not getting a killer deal when you buy the game of the year edition. your just buying the most recent expansion, the exception being the story. Since no DLC is out for D2 i cant verify that this is true for D2, but it was for D1, so hopefully they upgrade the old content as dlc is released with destiny 2, and if youre not sure then thats what i would look for.

Final Thought: This game is great! Dont overthink it! If you enjoy a solid triple a shooter, with the ability to play with friends this is your game! bungie will continue to release new content, some free but mostly paid. Vote with your wallet and spend what you think its worth.

Even if Bungie backtracks on some of these horrendous missteps, there’s evidence that the dev team is either flailing around without a clear idea of the experience they want to present, or even worse, they’re happy to offer the least amount of mediocre content possible until the player base starts pushing back. When free-to-play titles like Warframe and Let it Die seem monumentally more generous and offer vastly more entertainment value than a triple-A sixty dollar release built with a budget large enough to feed whole continents, it’s clear that something has gone horribly wrong.

It’s this sense of streamlined player experience that really defines Destiny 2. Where the first game had you grinding for hours just to experience increasingly diminishing returns, this is a sequel that trims away its processor’s frustrations, firmly putting fun first.

Destiny 2 is tough to compare to other shooters or games, but it is evidently a better title than part 1. The campaign is longer, the progression makes more sense, the structure is more satisfying and the sheen and splendor on the various planets entices even more. Destiny is comparable with its predecessor after the add-on The Taken King, and is therefore a more solid foundation for the coming months of content.
