No Man Sky который смог осилить Большой Ух (Desteny 2)

I created a metacritic account for this review alone. Despite its issues, I was a fan of Destiny 1 and believed that Destiny 2 would build upon its strengths while mitigating its weaknesses. Unfrrtunately, Destiny 2, mitigated the strengths of the original and created new weaknesses. Simply put the game is not fun and has very few redeeming features. Save your money ad skip D2.

Truly Disappointing. Tries to spread itself too thin, lacks overall direction. With such a huge budget, it should have been done justice to the obviously talented people who worked on it. I blame marketing and executive decisions.

People give destiny a hard time but the sequel is fantastic. It has campaign which can take around 10 hours or longer if you do extra quests. There are adventures and quests which are fun and provide more context. 4 different worlds to check out, 6 strikes, a nightfall, a raid, crucible for player versus player action.
Destiny 1 tried to do everything and achieved mixed results. Destiny 2

It's addictive and I love it... but the single use shaders is kind of a pain. Micro transactions feel pretty much non existent and are really easy to ignore but yeah... the single use shaders is a little annoying and hinders player customization until late in the game when you get high level gear.
Also, the raid is pretty brutal in my opinion. It's heavily mechanics based and although the recommended power level is 260 that's way off. If you check bungie.net and try to find random people to raid with then most won't take you unless you're in the 290's, equipped with the right and gear and know what you're doing. It's really not a friendly or inviting game mode and generates a lot of frustration because you can't carry players. Everyone has a key role to play at all times.
Despite my quibbles I still give it a 10 because it's so much fun and i've put more time into it than any other game this year.

So, my friends and I have been playing Destiny since the original release years ago. You could tell the game was a mish mash of problems due to a troubled studio with employment problems and trashing of storylines and such. Bungie is not the greatest place to work for, I would imagine. It took them years to get to where Destiny 1, Year 3 was and even then, it wasn't the best it could be. This game has been half-assed from the beginning but still our friends managed to drudge online for a raid or to play the SIVA event after maxing out our characters.

Destiny 2 had a great, short-lived story with cinematics and all that...then it was over. You moved to multiplayer events and it was the same or worse and became a drudge faster than Destiny 1. I can't even imagine where to begin with the PC version other than it's a platform full of aimbot hacks you can purchase and other cheats. That's just the cherry on the cake of another Bungie game that was rushed or half-assed just to comply with a 3 game contract. The employees are liars and Deej is the biggest one. I think we need a raid to kick Deej's ass for making this game sound more than it actually is.

This game is in a a 5 alarm 911 state and I predict the PC version will die faster than the console version...and it will die with inept Bungie employees sitting around a table scratching their asses wondering if this is a game they would actually be excited to play themselves. I don't really think so. Fix it or get out of the software business. You make great guns but that's about it. Warframe is free and it's starting to draw more players because of your disappointment.

However, having said that it is by no means a terrible game. Unlike the first game Destiny 2 actually has a cohesive story with an actual villain who has an aim that they are trying to fulfil. And while this is a gigantic improvement from the first game (as it didn't even have this), it still doesn't change the fact that the story is bland and uninspired, and at many times feels like the bare minimum. However, despite this the story isn't bad, it just isn't good. It's clear that it tries to be good, but I feel that the people who made this story didn't really know how to craft a unique and interesting one and/or was hindered by Bungie and Activision. Now having got that out of the way. The gameplay is very enjoyable and feels very tight which really does help this game. Though one thing I will say is that all 3 types of guns (Kinetic, Energy and Power) don't feel very different at all, which is annoying, but isn't the end of the world. Also, the graphics are for the most part good and throughout the 35 hours I've sunk into this game. The framerate rarely dropped and I experienced next to no crashes. Also the soundtrack is completely fantastic and at times I thought it was better than the actual game. Now to Destiny 2's greatest strength and its greatest weakness: the lore. To make a long story short, the lore is fantastic and I really enjoy learning about it, however for the most part it's NOT IN THE GODDAMN GAME. All it needed was some sort of encyclopaedia like the bestiary in Witcher 3, as that could tell people the lore and information about the main characters, as we know absolutely nothing about them apart from their name, the occupation and their race. The last of this games great problems is how it's completely geared to its current hardcore fans and does nothing to try to appease new more casual players (you can't try to call me that as I've done 3 Nightfalls and the raid (which is really overrated) ). So anybody who isn't an established fan of this franchise will most likely be done by the time that they've finished the main story (which is 8-10 hours long) as what they see during that period isn't impressive enough to make them stick around for endgame content. For me personally I stopped having fun at around 250 power, though I officially stopped playing at 285 power. And due to the games microtransactions and the fact that the minute you get the game the developers are already advertising the first of many Dlc's, I can't help but get frustrated. Though at the end of the day it really isn't terrible and it has made a lot of improvements from its predecessor, but it still isn't what it could and should be, so I can't give it any higher than a seven as while it's very fun, it's far from high end and I wouldn't recommend it to everyone. But if your willing to put up with its many flaws, you can find a good game in there. Expand

The crap in this game is bright engrams AKA loot-boxes and their unique use shaders which will be consumed very fast because many weapons you loot look like crap on purpose, they look like second-hand weapons with scratches and scrapped paint. This is only one of the ways I noticed they push you into buying more. I only bought this game to try it out on PC, if the first would have been on PC already then I wouldn't have touched it. On that note the game runs buttery smooth in 4K and it is well polished. This time the story actually got me listening and at times it has it funny moments especially with Failsafe.
To people saying that you don't have to buy loot-boxes if you don't want to even more when they are cosmetic, that is fine as long as game don't go out of their way to push you into buying like giving you crap and making you look like a hobo. My Destiny 1 character looked awesome without paying a single cent more, my Destiny 2 character looks like it is dressed from the garbage bin.

You start off with a bang. cabal invade your home, the last city of earth. However, i felt like you never really cared for the last city, you don't feel attached to the plot. The plot is generic, and nothing special. It could have been much better if they actually tried making a damn good one. Instead you get the cliched "mindlessly kill enemies". The main villain called "Gaul" is not interesting at all. the developers make an attempt to build a good villain character, but hes not even that intimidating. he looks like a mole rat from fallout 3 for gods sake! Gaul also gives a cliched "Your traveler and i aren't so different" speech. The game gives you nothing to invest into.

Gun-play is addictive, but nothing new.

The enemies in the game are horrific. In a bad way. The AI is some of the worst i have ever seen. You could run through an entire level without enemies even stopping you. Absolutely horrible.

There is seriously some missed potential in destiny. Bungie cannot make a quality game anymore. Oh, and guess what? They want you to pay for expansions. AGAIN. COME ON BUNGIE!!

It's a cash grab, stay away from it. Every person who buys into this bs supports this kind of behavior from companies. The argument that they will patch the game is also total bs, what's the reason they couldn't put all that in the game in the first place? Ohhh yeah, they are putting that stuff in the dlc so people buy the season pass or get straight **** Nice tactics.

I don't understand why there is such high praise for this game. Many have been declaring the story is amazing when it is the most generic and unfulfilling plot ever written and it fails to answer any big questions that were raised in the first game. I have played through all the end game content and I already regret purchasing this game.

Haven't played this game in about 2 weeks since maxing out... its unfortunately that Bungie catered to the more casual gamer for initial launch, which is understandable... however i do not and cannot say as a hardcore previous destiny 1 gamer, i have been enticed both from story, game play and mechanics to get the DLC... The most enjoyable part of destiny 1.5 was Public Events. Overall a average standard shooter 7/10 and i'm being nice because it was marketed as a MMORPG which it is not.

The name of the (end) game here is the fact that everything has been majorly streamlined and that all reputation factions have just been turned into token venders for loot that does nothing beyond looking cool. The guns have had their random rolls taken away, meaning that all versions of the same gun are now the same, eliminating a larger, albeit cheaper, way for players to keep grinding for the best stuff. Even the Iron Banner, the Holy Grail of the original PvP system and the epitome of rare items from the original game, has been neutered by this "casuals first" loot system. And with the ability to go from level 1-20 in about 4 hours, the main draw for Bungie, the new integrated story line, is basically just a drop in the pan. It almost feels like Bungie never really properly planned for the end game, beyond the initial 6 or 7 dungeons and the fairly average raid that came along with it. And while they have done a few things to extend the life of the end game with faction rallies and the aforementioned Iron Banner, there's just nothing for those people who got through the fairly short story to accomplish. It personally only took me 3 weeks, mostly of me just playing on Tuesday the reset day, to get my first character to the max power level in the game, and that only involved the few short major quests that unlock on reset day. I've no desire to do the raid again after completing it once as the items are mostly cosmetic, and Bungie seems to be content with waiting until the next "season" starts to put more cooler items into the game but we have no idea when that will be or how long it'll take to get them. Best thing I can recommend for someone in my position with the game is to take a step back from it for awhile. Destiny 1 really got rolling when they started adding expansions down the road to it before it became a fully realized game. Destiny 2 has seemingly taken the same path, with vanilla Destiny not amounting to much but the potential is there for something grand. I can only hope it doesn't take as long to get the ball rolling for the sake of the community. I don't see too many people sticking this out once they get through the inital story line and a few days at max level. Hopefully the expansion can add new end game content but I would warn people not to get their hopes up too high at this early stage in the games cycle. I'll definitely be coming back to this game in the future but I've finished playing this version of Destiny 2 and I've no desire to go back to it, no matter how much fun I actually have had with the gameplay. I sunk well over 500 hours into Destiny 1 and I have been a huge fan and supporter of Bungie since Halo 1, and played each and every release of the Halo and Destiny series, this title is completely unacceptable.

This game has 4-8 hours of good content to impress reviewers, after that you will get a better experience from The Division, No Man's Sky, or even Clash of Clans. I would recommend that you try one of those titles instead.

If you are interested in the game wait to buy it until they fix it. You could buy the Destiny 1 collection for $35 in year 3 and it included all the content. Buying now means you're paying full price and will have to shell out $150 for the complete game minus the special edition stuff (I paid that much for D1). If you wait a few months it will likely be $30 for both the main game & the expansion, and you'll know if they fixed it or not.

Right now the community is dying, clans and friends are leaving, PvE zones are dead empty and you will be constantly soloing events designed for 3-4 people and failing them if you play outside of weekend prime time. I created a clan at launch with 50 people and every single member is already gone, this is on console. I can't imagine how much worse it would be on PC.

If you value your money at all, wait and see on this game. You'll have a much better experience. I wish I had waited myself because the issues ruined my experience. Now I'll never get to have the feeling of trying the game for the first time enjoyably, and that's the worst part.

PvP design is definitely inferior, incentives to continue to play after you complete weekly milestones is almost nil, and the loot/reward system is broken.

Fun shooting and multiplayer but story and characters? It was bad to see a game with this much potential fall into the drain. Don't get me wrong I still have fun playing it but I barely know anything about the characters and most of them are pretty boring. The only flushed out character is the Ghaul who dies in the end anyway. But he had more personality in him than half the characters. When someone mentions a character I actually look them up to find out who are they talking about. It's a game I hate to love but I think seven is still too generous of a score I love this game don't get me wrong but purely on story mode NO ONE SHOULD BUY IT. Expand

As a veteran who has spent around 800 hours in the original Destiny and spent over 100 hours in Destiny 2 I have every right to fairly criticize and give this game the biggest expletives possible for ruining a concept and idea so hard that I am floored still by its existence today. To fully explain my problems and issues with Destiny 2 will take too long so rather I would like to just give a summary of the features.

Story - It sucked so much ass. Ghaul was pathetic and the plot was so confusing and trying to cater to children with its generic quip humor dialogue every three seconds that I was already tired of it after the first few missions. I know story to some isn't the main thing for this game, but when Bungie claims they want to make a great story and make it where you can enjoy the story or the loot, you better give me a story that I love and care about. Disappointing does not even cut it for me for my thoughts on this trainwreck of a story.

Graphics and Sound - The art design of Destiny 2 is much like Destiny: beautiful and mind-boggling amazing, the sound teams and the orchestra music is stunning and shames most shooter music scores. This is one of the stronger aspects of Destiny 2 but is easily going to be pushed aside from most in the community. Unfortunately, you see a repetition in the worlds as each is fundamentally the same (European Dead Zone is the Cosmodrone, Titan is the Moon, Nessus is Venus, and Io is Mars) and the music has a undeniable theme that gets repeated a bit too much in my opinion.

Gameplay: It is the same as before. Same Supers, same gun types with the inclusion of a couple new weapons that don't challenge or change up the structure. No ship combat or sparrow combat. Enemies are all reused from the previous game with some additions and visual changes that it doesn't even matter. The core loop feels fun and enjoyable with friends, but eventually the combat will feel as rudimentary and feel tiring that I would enjoy the more dumber things in the game like glitching in social areas then play the game. Speaking of social spaces...

Social Spaces: The Farm is completely wasted and the reusing the Tower on top of getting it so early is one of the dumbest decisions Bungie has made in terms of being new. Maybe if it took a long time to earn the Tower back in a few months it would be better, but with nothing at the Farm that the Tower does better for you, it makes you wonder if it was even worth it at all.

Strikes and Nightfalls: Disgustingly rehashed bosses of just stronger variants of rehashed enemies. They have some ways of approaching them differently but with only 5 strikes and not one original boss enemy, this is practically spitting in my face. The Nightfall design is bad with time limits placed on players and lacking more modifiers that the original game had. Stressing me to beat a Nightfall on a timer to a strike that is lazily put together in order to grind it out doesn't sound like a good gameplay hook does it?

Crucible and Trials (and Iron Banner): Has plenty of problems. 6v6 is now 4v4 (when it was just fine), no dedicated servers, no 60 FPS (and Bungie wants to be competitive with this game...), you can't team shot almost ever because gun abilities are fixed, no balancing in power and defense when players leave and leave teams at a disadvantage. Every game mode is boring and cookie cutter (Clash is TDM, Control is Dom, Countdown is SND, Supremacy is Kill Confirmed, etc.). Trials or Iron Banner doesn't allow power advantages and their weapons and armors are uninspiring and pointless.

Raid: Only one boss and a set of challenges. Considering I can get all my all my weekly awards in the same amount of time for all characters as doing only for one run on the raid, it essentially defeats the reason to even do it in the first place. The mechanics and creativity is fine but the struggle to do these things is always why its niche in the community to do them more than once.

Loot and Progression: Grind your life away by doing the same thing over and over again. Be disappointed on days you bust your ass and get nothing yet a newbie gets the weapon you want without lifting a finger. Be tempted by corporate scumbags to buy silver and waste it on RNG based loot boxes that should've been apart the game in the first place. It's the same **** and it is so old and sick of it.

Other issues too: No returning to the previous game's things even though no issues were solved on them, no trading still, clans are marginally improved but still lacking and weak, lore is built within game but don't have a codex at all, adventures and quests lack depth or even quantity. faction rally is just a popularity contest and has no fun meta at all, etc.

Destiny 2 is a waste of time and money that is a remake than a sequel (and not even a good one at that). Not even friends can save this mess of a game.

It's a crying shame how they could put so much effort into game play, soundtrack and outstanding presentation. Yet top it off with the same boring characters, boring cinematics, boring level design and more of the same rehashed boring dialogue. Somehow I managed to play this game for maybe just under 100 hours, because I believed in BUNGIE but the multilayer content has been halted again with only two options, public events are just copied and pasted across the miniscule outdated map design across the planets. The guided games is a broken system that requires voice chat. Problem is that it will put you into a game with anyone from any country, even if they don't speak the same language as you, when as mentioned before voice chat is a requirement, especially for the raid which requires pre meditated coordination as it is literally impossible to accomplish without planning with a team beforehand. I would not recommend joining any random clan because the game that promotes working with others is very antisocial. Most people will not join a game and those that do are almost nearly always underpowered for the at times unfair Nightfall strike and raid. I conclude by saying if this game didn't have good game play, a good soundtrack and nice presentation I think alot more people would be negative towards it but bungie have proven more than once now that in the modern era it's more about style than substance than a consumer quality guaranteed game. The sequel, while built on an apparently new and improved game engine, feels like it has little to offer beyond simple good gunplay (even that doesn't feel quite as good as D1.) The lack of hardcore endgame content is a huge stain on the entire franchise, and the overall changes to loot progression (token slot system), combined with an overall 'balancing' of power level (power level hardly matters for most activities) has resulted in a game that, while exciting and captivating at first, quickly loses most of it's steam once you finish the campaign.

Whereas previously in Destiny 1, reaching end-game felt as though you were opened up to a variety of new, rewarding activities, Destiny 2 offers little to nothing.

If you've never played Destiny 1 before, I may recommend picking up this game. You'll probably enjoy the campaign, playing some patrol, running the strikes, and getting a taste for Crucible. If you're a long-time D1 veteran, it's quite likely you'll find yourself disappointed and lacking in content.

I no longer find myself excited for Tuesdays anymore ('reset day' for Destiny). I log on and stare at the Director (menu) for a couple minutes before sighing and putting on another game.

I hope the DLC fixes the glaring endgame issues the game has, but at the same time, I'm really not happy with the idea of having to pay for DLC in order to experience the "complete game." Bungie took us down this road with D1; it's time for them to get things together.

Destiny 1 also started off in a rocky place but they made a lot of improvements over time that made it a pretty good game by the end and yet somehow the game that is just a cheap clone of the original lacks most of those improvements. What's worse is that I can't tell if Bungie didn't learn from it's mistakes or if the lesson they learned was that they can deliver a mediocre product and "fix" it with dlc that most people will feel compelled to buy to justify their initial purchase. This is the last Bungie product I'll ever buy. Expand

What is so disappointing is that it has absolutely nothing new in it and has taken a huge step backwards in so many ways, large and small. For example the raid has almost no fighting in it (and what there is is almost entirely contrived (the repeat Castellum sections)) and the mechanics, in the round, are uninteresting. I personally also do not like the cartoonish graphics of the raid; it is hard to believe the same people made Vault of Glass (actually, most of the those people left...).

Small things like not being able to mix and match the super sub-trees, the ridiculous decision to have primaries in two slots, making snipers absolutely useless throughout D2, not having machine guns, every activity giving me tokens like I was at a fairground rather than gear, raid gear having absolutely no raid specific perks, not being able to choose the game type in PVP, Nightfall being timed (seriously, what kind of developer makes it a necessity to race past huge sections of game design?!). And those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

D2 could be fantastic, just like D1 could have been fantastic. The difference for me is that as they have taken all the grind out of D2 and basically give you everything immediately for no effort, I have no incentive to stick with it. Which is a bloody shame as it was the only game I played for 3 years.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Destiny 2 in a nutshell is just Destiny 1.5 with major stepbacks and major quality of life upgrades.

    The GOOD:

Music. The music goes well with the current background. When there is a boss, you feel the rush of music going through.

Environments. Bungie has always been good when it comes to creating environments. The explosions are crisp. The skybox is beautiful to look at.

    Graphics. A complete eye candy.

    THE BAD:

STORY. Boring, bland, and generic. Whoever wrote the script should be fired because a 12 year old can do so much better.

The villain, Ghaul, does nothing but shouts at the speaker. He does nothing during the entire story campaign.

Loot. Remember when Nathan Fillion said that there will be a ton of loot? Yes there is a TON of loot BUT THEY ARE NOT WORTH GRINDING FOR. Bungie took several backsteps to downgrade the almost perfected loot system of Destiny 1.

Guns. Uninspiring, reskinned, and laughably dull guns. The 2 new gun types are nothing but a joke. A SMG and a grenade launcher in a space game? This just shows how incompetent Bungie's design team is.

PvP. Another joke. It's absolutely broken and the PvP is not a separate balance with PvE. What this means is that if they nerf a gun for pvp then it becomes a joke for pve. Again. This just shows Bungie's incompetence.

TLDR; This game is a joke. Overhyped BS. Don't buy this game.

    I initially would give this a 6/10, but I don't think Destiny 2 deserves that. Let's get into why;

Good: -Artstyle is great, but some textures and effects look plain bad (albeit PC with better graphics settings can look far better) -Weapon balance is spot on, there are weapons that are clearly better than others at this point (Reviewed right before the initial release for D2 on PC),

-If you don't buy the game, at the very least listen to the soundtrack
-Theres a story in this game

    Bad:
-30 fps PvP (for reference, I'm pretty sure DOOM on the SWITCH will be 60 fps for the PvP side)
    -No dedicated servers for PvP
-RNG seems to extremely heavily favor duplicates
    -Limited grind and replayability
-Tokens replace just about every way of getting loot
    -Bad raid
    -Terrible nightfall mechanics
-The worst PVP mode I've ever played in a triple A shooter, it's too slow and the entire game was dumbed down because of it
-Microtransaction loot boxes, replaces most shaders and all but 3 (to my knowledge) ghost shells, almost every ship, and all but 1 sparrow.
-No endgame content, I don't raid and I felt like I'd done everything PvE-wise on the second or third week.
-Cheating is still a massive issue on console, for those reading this review to get a recommendation on whether or not to buy the PC version, it'll most likely be worse there
-The story, while there, is still generic, boring, and extremely cliché.
-PvE is incredibly easy, with no option to increase the difficulty outside of intentionally using bad equipment and/or setting player-made limits
-Exotics are almost all extremely underwhelming and almost as a whole worse than the rarity tier below them (legendaries)

My honest suggestion is to wait until next September at the very least to but the "all DLC included" etition when and if they fix the game.

D1 was a flawed game in many aspects (it had a shallow story, bland characters and serious balancing issues in PVP), but it had two things that made it awesome: its Power Fantasy Fulfillment and its fun factor. Those things are nowhere to be found in D2.

Powers, supers and exotics were a big contributor in the Power Fantasy factor, and all of them were nerfed on D2. Sure, you get used to it, but go back to D1 and you'll feel like YOU were nerfed not your inventory.

Fun is hard to describe, some D1 players found "the grind" fun, other hated it, messy PVP games with 6 players per team and a huge reliance on abilities were a drag for some while others felt that was the meta. So when I say that a messy gameplay was fun, I mean it was fun for me, but now it is not.

I appreciate the primary weapons focused gameplay but I miss the time when you could play as the lone wolf on PVP (especially when you are playing with randoms), I like that the grind is gone, but the "one size fits all" philosophy of tokens and engrams made the game dull. There is little motivation to play for more than a couple hours every week when you are leveling up, and after you reach the level cap there is really no motivation to play at all. I don't see how special events like Iron Banner or the Halloween event will change that.

I personally like the new PvP as there is space for casual (quick play) and competitive crucible. The end game mode, Trials of the Nine has a different dynamic altogether. It is also harder to go flawless as you are no longer shown mercy. The Third Spire, the new Trials social space is my favourite place to hang out at as it has a great system of progression and looks and feels out of this world, in every sense.

The new social spaces in general are a big improvement and credit to Bungie for making it more fulfilling with its own set of quirks and entertainment.

The strikes aren't so much fun because the repetitiveness kicks in pretty quickly and the incentive for doing them is diminished as you can get your hands on equally good loot by finishing public events that take 2-5 minutes to complete compared to strikes going over 10-15.

The ease of obtaining loot has me considering quitting altogether because there is no fun in playing the game if you are handed high end loot so easily and with little effort. The raid was fun the first time but you will quickly notice how high the bar has been set by classical raids like the Vault of Glass or Kings Fall from D1.

I hope they makes some big improvements with the DLC because the excitement only lasted for two weeks before I saw how hollow this game was and the lack of innovation this game has. There is so much missing potential and as a Destiny 1 Alum, I feel like Bungie has become too lazy and they are not utilizing the amazing potential this game has right now.

the strikes feel awesome when played, too bad there's only 5 strikes in the game right now. 2 on earth, and 1 on the other planets. one strike has you going through a bunch of Cabal excavation drills to take out a big fallen mind so the Cabal can't use it against humanity. sounds more epic than it is. basically everything described sounds more epic than playing it.

the game is definitely an improvement over the first game, though Ikora and Zavala both don't have a lot of character, and are therefore boring as hell. Cayde-6 is everyones favorite, and for good reason. he gets time to develop as a character, unlike the other two who are basically one dimensional characters. Zavala is a brute that fights for justice, Ikora is clever, but in this game she feels regret for not doing anything. Cayde-6 is the comic relief of this game.

Destiny 2 at its peak with the Rise of Iron was a near perfect experience and a shining example of how properly implemented expansions can turn an otherwise mediocre game into one hell of an experience.

Unfortunately, Destiny 2 is using the same formula as its predecessor. Bungie is giving us the same great game-play, somewhat of an improved story, great soundtrack, and fantastic graphics, but then completely ruins it by skipping out on the quality of games modes and huge amount of player choice that made its predecessor great. The variety in weapon perks that kept players coming back even after reaching max light level; just to find the perfect “god” roll is gone. Strikes have been reduced to a random playlist only and can’t be individually selected, not that you’ll do any because their rewards are more easily earned by participating in public events. Strike scoring and strike specific loot have been removed. The raid is a good time, but lacks “challenging” puzzles. Lastly, the raid only awards you with one legendary item. In my eyes that isn’t worth the 3 to 4 hour play through.

Now for PVP. PVP is now 4 versus 4 only. 4v4 is not for everyone. Other games do 4v4 better. Such as Halo and CS go. All matches are limited to two random playlists meaning players can’t select the kind of matches they enjoy. For example, if you want to play Clash only, that is not an OPTION! When Destiny 1 first launched player were unhappy with Crucible. We, the fans, caused such an uproar, Bungie eventually changed Crucible for the better. With Destiny 2, Bungie decided to do exactly what they did in the first year of Destiny 1. Bungie is forcing PVE players to play through 10 PVP matcher per week if they want maximize their power level gains. This needs to be balanced. If I am a PVE player, I should have the option to only play PVE and should reap the same benefits of a PVP/PVE player.

In conclusion, Destiny 2 is a good game until you hit level 20, then it becomes a hollow shell of its former self. It’s sad that Destiny 2 won’t truly shine until the upcoming expansions. It’s sad that Bungie ripped out player’s choice. I am extremely disappointed with the state Destiny 2 is currently in. My advice would be to get the game after all the expansions have released.

Destiny 2 is an improvement, but it's an improvement only on vanilla Destiny. Destiny 2 right now feels like Destiny 1 in its dying days. Just after 1 month. Sure, the story’s better (the bar wasn’t set that high, tho) and the progression is smoother and easier, but that’s it. The loot is poor and bad, the end game is shallow and worthless, the PVP is a boring mess.

What baffles is me is the amount of improvements that were present in Taken King or Rise of Iron and are just nowhere to be found in D2. And if it was Bungie’s plan all along to remove them so we have to pay for them again in the upcoming DLCs, then that’s just extremely arrogant and people should just stop buying this half-assed game, now that the word is out.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Disappointing on so many levels. They have not improved the original game in anyway. This may as well be another DLC package. I don't understand how they can get away with it. There is no new enemies (Except when they set up a new enemy upon completion of the 3-4 hour story, which will be part of the.......DLC), zero innovation, Locations still boring and empty. What annoyed me the most was the fact that you don't get a sparrow until completion of the story, and all of the the maps are clearly designed for sparrows. Bright engrams can now be bought through micro transactions to get your legendary/exotic gear. You can earn these upon leveling up every time after level 20; which is apparently when the game really starts. It is not, it is when the grinding starts. How people are so thrilled about loot i will never know. The loot is just the same **** that looks a bit different from the last lot. The Shaders you use to change the colour of your gear are now limited. So you don't end up using them because you don't want to waste them. Ultimately this is Destiny 1 repackaged with a story which is generic and mundane. Not improved on any of the problems of the first and actually created more issues. The game is **** Expand

The amount of glitches, bugs, hacks, lag, connection errors, "killed by the architects", bad matchmaking... and zero attempts of bungie's side to fix the problems at hand, this game deserves to be one of the lowest rated games ever. People can't even be on the menu when transiting to the tower otherwise they get disconnected, I tried - not joking - 30 times, with resets of the console, with network (lan/wlan) changed, with all kinds of "tricks" to get to the tower but got disconnected for 1h straight, and bungie's solution "you have a strict NAT", no we haven't - all of my friends and the people that encounter that issue have normal NAT 1 or 2 and even with all ports open this games network features are utter garbage - like 30y ago where you could "hope" to play a game in multiplayer due to the (bad) servers. This game deserves all the backlash that it gets, because if as a company your only interest are microtransactions and new payable dlc's you are not deserving any praise. FIX YOUR GAME. And for those people that don't have any of those issues mentioned, here is my initial review (rated 5 for very average and below anything bungie ever did, even Destiny (1) imo:
I've played Destiny (1) easily over 1000 hours even tough - in my opinion - the game was severely lacking but the gameplay - mostly the pvp - was pulling me back. It was fluid, paced and engaging.
Destiny 2 lacks - as the original - in (almos) every RPG or MMO aspect of the game. The Story is lackluster altough better than the original, the Raid is unfulfilling and the Activities (world, lost sectors, strikes...) get stale fast. The one thing that got me back every time in Destiny (1) - the pvp - is as tiresome as it could get. It's teamshooting at it's finest so that you can't play solo anymore, the slowed down movement makes it more "tactical" (but less fun imo because no more lone wolf"-ing"), the map design is horrendous, the weapons are not balanced (as there are clear dominant archetypes), the pvp is sweaty (already), the Osiris" (competitive gamemode) is countdown (a COD mode that doesn't fit with the gameplay of Destiny) and the community is toxic already...
The game is a minimalistic attempt to "improve" a formula that needed change and not stagnation, the weapons themselves are repetitive and not interesting, the exotics (used to be main draw to get in D1) are not special anymore and the long term activities are already boring me/people. This game should be bought at a discount when all DLC's are included.

Just to be upfront here: I did NOT play Destiny 1. At the time when it came out I was immersed in other games and other MMO's. The abundant amount of negative press the title garnered also didn't help. So when I say I enjoy this title, more than I thought I would I want it to be clear:

-I had no prior experience with the 1st game
-I am looking at the game with fresh eyes

Even so, things Bungie did that has anger the player base has made it to my ears (the one use shaders thing.) Which even outside the realm of the title and my "newness" to the franchise is a crappy thing to do, even moreso when it was an unlimited use item in the prior title.

With that being said, D2 is solid, better than I thought it would be. 1st impression I got the moment I started was: alright....so this is Halo. That's not a bad thing, but Bungie really...you could have strayed a tad bit away from Halo. the hive is the flood, the fallen are the covenant. Hell, the big bad guy is just a Super Brute!

Shooting is super tight. I'm in no way amazing at shooters, but man, is combat solid. Gun choices are really good, but just miss the mark of being amazing. Maybe this is better at endgame (as of this writing i'm maybe a tad shy of the halfway point), but I found some great and some garbage (I hate any type of pistol. I ignore them, even if they are a massive damage increase. The recoil is crap mostly).

Missions feel organic as do public quests...though the latter have little diversification. Once you do one, it's the same thing over and over. Still, they feel frenetic enough to keep the fight fresh.

The story....is interesting. The one thing I heard about the 1st title was how crap the narrative was. Well so far i'm fine with it. It's no pulitzer, but it is far from being dull. I genuinely feel like a hero fighting back against a universal threat though not just gameplay alone; the story supports it, thus making it all the sweeter as you fight the red war.

The music is sweeping and epic which makes both combat and the story reach higher levels than if they might have developed either thing alone (working harder on the story or the combat). Instead the soundtrack passively makes BOTH that much better.

As for classes, I went with the Warlock. Can't say much other than the builds at this point (as of this writing i'm only lvl 12) don't make that big of a deal. The dawnblade feels like just an elongated grenade (about 3 seconds longer than the one you have). It's a CD ability that can hurt lots of targets, but that's about it. What makes combat any different than the Voidwalker or stormcaller other than the CD. The talents in each subclasses tree are more or less the same thing for ALL of the specs, it's just the super that really is any different. Subclasses seem more "passive" than being "active." The other classes seem to be the same thing from what i've read.

I have just one concern and that is the accessibility of endgame content for the solo players. I, like many, don't really want to join guilds and do strikeforce-like content (be online for this event and such-and-such time). I love big event fights though, like a raid or dungeons but not ones that demand hours and hours of time per week to complete. Sure an hour or 2 to do is fine, but 6? Must it be with a group of people that always work together? For me, that isn't fun or frankly what I think of as a good use of my time, not when I can obtain gear and content at my leisure other ways. I don't dislike working with others....I just hate the old and played-out long form grindfest raid system that every MMO employs. I don't want super easy either, not something that equates to a bullet sponge loot pinata; just something in the middle.

Other than that, I have no real complaints. The game looks great, plays great and seems well put together. Had I played the 1st one, I would most likely had more to take issue with. For a new player, it's worth your time to jump in. If you were expecting Halo....you're getting it...just with a different skin.

Update: After "endgame" playing....there is little reason to continue. Strikes are fine and within the aesthetic of rest of the game (war of attrition to victory) as is the crucible. The place where actual gear is (nightfall strikes and raid) make the same mistake every single MMO does: funnel content into a bit-sized area antithetical to the product it is.

Why ALL of the gear/content/progression is shoved into this teeny-tiny portion of the product is beyond me. Couple that with inane timers in Nightfalls and a 6HOUR raid is astonishingly dumb. The game is a world shooter with a few single player instanced challenges, but those are vastly outweighed by random group, undisciplined skirmishes. Why condition people for this, only to stick the best stuff behind tight/focused/strike force battles that unlike EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE GAME?

It's no wonder people rag on this game.

Despite being layered on a solid foundation of excellent shooting mechanics, stunning visuals and a truly magnificent soundtrack, Destiny 2 at its worst is lazy, unimaginative, uninspired, insulting and completely pointless. It isn't Destiny 2, its Destiny 1.5. It isn't a sequel, its just a more expensive DLC.

The story is boring, the character upgrade system plays like Bungie have never even played an RPG before and the game is nothing but shooting forever. A sequel should build on the foundations of the first, take some risks, add some interesting new mechanics. A sequel should justify it's own existence, and Destiny 2 just doesn't. It is an overpriced, underdeveloped expansion pack and I will not be spending any more money on the 2 already planned, paid for DLC packs.

Maybe I'll come back when the game is fully released as a complete edition, but until then this is just a waste of time and money.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Destiny 2, the latest addition to the series is an overall improvement to the first Destiny. Unlike the original Destiny, Destiny 2 has an actual story line planned out starting off with sorrow and tragedy, progressing towards redemption. Although the original wasn’t terrible, so far the sequel has done everything better, from the voice acting to the impressive graphics and framerate.
The gameplay of Destiny 2 is near perfect. Ok, we have only seen a little bit of the game however from what I’ve experienced so far, the game runs smoothly with no dropped frames, this paired with the fact that there is a smooth-flowing momentum to the game results in flawless gameplay. With a game like Destiny 2 it is necessary to have working textures, not only for lore but for overall enjoyment- and Bungie has hit the nail on the head with Destiny 2. With the incredibly improved graphics from the first Destiny, something had to go wrong, it seem just too good to be true; however the final release of Destiny 2 was outstanding with very little flaws to the world design.
When it comes to the storyline of Destiny 2, it could have gone any better, with very few flaws in the story, players are left with an action packed storyline that tugs on the heart. From the very start you are left with devastation after the destruction and sorrow as you fight to redeem yourselves in the eye of the traveller. During the story you get to level from level 1, all the way up to 20. This is done, very cleverly, with a set campaign to follow, you will level up in no time, although say you get bored of following these quests (which is very unlikely), Bungie has very kindly given you many other ways to level up, such as adventures and events, which reward you with better gear. Moving onto endgame, the first main target is to finish the campaign which rewards you with the ability to obtain more powerful gear, while also granting you access to the new social space. After you finish the immersive questing, your next aim is to raise your power, to get your guardian as strong as you can get him. This is obtained through the all new strikes- a series of events that you have to do, to the reach a powerful boss at the end to obtain your loot. The loot chest always drop rare gear, which go up to 260 power. Along the way you can pick up rare, legendary, and even exotic engrams which can be decrypted and turned into very high power gear that often come with slight buffs like “enemies explode on death.” Along your course to 350 power, there is also the weekly nightfall, which also rewards powerful gear, as well as the raid, Leviathan, which is do-able with your own team at 260, however is recommended to have 280 if you are using the whole new guided games system, which allows you join other people looking for other members to do Leviathan.
However PvE (Player vs Environment) isn’t the only thing there is to do In Destiny 2, you also have the PvP (Player vs Player) environment, called The Crucible. This one of the many things to do during levelling, or at end game. There is also a competitive or casual aspect to it as well. On the competitive side you are teamed up with other competitive players to eliminate the enemy team before they eliminate you. There are many game modes such as control, countdown, clash, supremacy, survival and Trial of the Nine, my personal favourite being survival. The aim behind survival is that each team has 8 respawns, and once each team have used up all their respawns they are out, and have to spectate. This creates a competitive environment where guardians can go to obtain gear and show their worth.
The world design in Destiny 2 is astonishing, and navigating through the different planets is made simple, with a touch of the touchpad you can open the roster, and all the destinations you can travel to, as well as view you quests. Each world has its own environment and enemies, with plenty to explore and fast travel evenly distributed in between. This paired with the fact that this is vanilla Destiny 2 sparks a lot of hope in terms of new planets, where expansions have been confirmed with the release of the limited edition, which contains the season pass. As seen with the first Destiny, Bungie did an adequate job while spacing out the expansions, and left a small space each expansion where content had dried out for new players to catch up.
Compared to all the new competitors released this year, Destiny 2 is definitely up there with the best, with easy controls, brilliant graphics, and the addictive grind for gear it is very easy to become addicted to this new release. The constant release of new expansions provides a fresh start, often as they come with a new level cap- Unlike many new games this year to that tend to leave their content to run dry.

    Introduction
Destiny 2 is a fantastic and compelling game. However, it does lack somewhat in content and originality, yet it is still a massive improvement from the state of the base game of its prequel - Destiny 1 - at Launch. Destiny 2 includes thrilling cinematics during the campaign which make the sequel look like it was made on Unity by a fourteen year old. As much as it adds to and changes the franchise - such as the new game modes in crucible and the acclaimed “Adventures”, which make patrols a whole lot more enjoyable – It does feel a lot like Destiny 1, which is not a bad thing as they have used the same amazing mechanical formula to keep me coming back and Bungie have done a great job at keeping and improving so many aspects of the game, for example the grind for loot is still incredibly addictive and is more so with the new loot to be discovered and claimed. However, it is not without its faults, due to a lack of content, for example, I only ever seem to be able to play two or three strikes, making for a very repetitive grind for gear.
    Prequel
There is no doubt that this sequel is far more enjoyable than Destiny 1 was at launch, and that is because Bungie has learnt from their mistakes. Mistakes like having an incredibly lacklustre campaign, and making the characters that we (eventually) grew to love, bland and almost pointless (I’m looking at you Mysterious Exo Stranger).Destiny 1 only grew properly during the third expansion The Taken King, and lots of new content and changing up the gameplay, bringing in many new players. Destiny 2 seems to be following in these footsteps so far, including breath-taking cinematic cut scenes, with a dash of their famous humour (mostly from fan-favourite character Cayde-6), topped off with beautiful set pieces and incredibly addictive and enjoyable gameplay. I personally believe that really one of the only negative parts that Destiny 2 has borrowed from its predecessor is an overall lack in content. Don’t get me wrong, Destiny 2 has a lot more to offer, however it still feels underwhelming when the campaign is completed in around 8 hours, and then you are dropped in to repeating the same strikes or go on the same crucible maps again and again. I just want it to be spiced up a little bit more.
    Gameplay
Well… it’s basically Destiny 1, with a whole lot more explosions, enemies, death, fun, and more explosions. It is by far the most enjoyable game I have played in a while simply for the gameplay alone. Its simplistic use of controls mixed with the fluidity of gunplay adds up to a near perfect experience, I just wish it had more variation. I am yet to attempt the raid so bare that in mind as so far a majority of what I have done is the campaign, followed by the adventures, then grinded out crucible and strikes. It gets slightly dull after a while… Yet I’m always drawn back, back to the rewarding feel you get when you finally obtain the exotic piece of gear you’ve been searching so hard for, or when you finally have a power level high enough to attempt the nightfall and begin to grind all over again.
    Competitors
I don’t have much to say about Destiny’s competitors as it is such a unique game that really can’t and shouldn’t be compared to another. However, if I am to compare it to other shooter giants such as Call of Duty, then I’d say that Destiny 2 is a whole lot more enjoyable, for me that is. I grew tired of COD’s mechanics that never really change, whereas Destiny and Destiny 2 are the type of games that keep me playing all night, and once I do finally get some sleep, it is with me in my dreams. I can’t escape it and I love it. I wouldn’t really call it a competitor, but it is clear that Destiny and Destiny 2 can be compared to the Halo series for the right reasons. However, this is only the case because they were both amazingly designed by Bungie, and should only be compared in how well they are doing in creating truly great games.
    Multiplayer aspects
I’ve always loved this aspect of Destiny, because it has brought me so many enjoyable moments and new friendships. Destiny 2 does not lack in this factor, it even improves on it with guided games (matchmaking essentially) into previously only organised fireteam game modes. I believe this will bring the community a lot closer together, and will allow for almost everyone to play the end game content, which Destiny is basically made for. In addition to this, Crucible is still a massive part of Destiny 2, and is such an amazing way to play competitive PVP.
    Final Verdict
In conclusion, Destiny 2 is an amazing game, however it lacks in content at the moment, which actually makes me look forward to the future content Bungie releases. It includes the same incredibly addictive formula of gameplay, with a few new twists in additions, I just wish it was a bit easier to reach end game without having to grind the same few activities.

One month in and over the last weekend I had more of my usual Destiny friends playing the Battlefront 2 beta than Destiny 2. It's not hard to understand why.

While leveling was enjoyable, the story was about the same level as the story told in Destiny: Rise of Iron. Still fairly disjointed and hurried along, but overall OK. But end game is just a boring slog that's taken several steps back from all of additions and lessons learned by Bungie from the original three years of Destiny.

The raid, in terms of mechanic design and level design, is probably the most boring raid Bungie has put out across both Destiny games. The loot from the raid isn't impressive in the slightest: Almost every weapon has a near identical non-raid equivalent and the armor no longer includes raid-related (or extra) perks, thus making it only worth collecting if you like the look of it. Most of my group who religiously ran VoG, Crota, King's Fall, and WotM regularly during Destiny 1 have no desire to keep running Leviathan. Bungie recently announced the forthcoming "prestige" difficulty raid will not increase power level and the rewards will also just be merely cosmetic. That has done little to enthuse my usual group to bother.

Strikes feel absolutely unrewarding, especially since there's no heroic mode anymore. I spent an evening chain running strikes with a fireteam medallion (xp and loot drop booster) on and got 6 legendary engrams over the course of 4 hours. I could easily get that in half the time just by chain running public events. Sure, I had a ton of a Zavala vendor tokens, but everything he gave was duplicates, all significantly lower than my character level and none with a single +5 power mod. Back in Destiny 1, Bungie added strike-specific loot in order to give people interest in replaying strikes or farming specialty loot. Inexplicably, they chucked this completely out of Destiny 2. Most strikes will just drop boring, standard, blue-rarity gear and tokens, leaving no real reason to spend time chain running strikes any more.

Nightfall strikes are no longer enjoyable. I miss the days of Nightfalls having weird, unique, and challenging modifiers. Instead those have largely been replaced with an uninteresting (and unfun) timer mechanic. Every D1 Nightfall mod was a million times better than Time Warp.

Crucible PVP is just garbage. Dominated by weapons with high-caliber round perks (MIDA Multi-Tool, Uriel's Gift, etc.) and favors whichever team is better at camping and team shooting. The map Vostok, for example, is just a gigantic circlejerk at the middle cave regardless of mode. Stale, scout rifle/auto rifle meta with a handful of rocket and sword power ammo campers. Ooo and for this frustration I get what? MORE TOKENS. For more underpowered gear. Bungie just announced that Iron Banner is losing its only differentiating factor (it will no longer have power level advantages enabled) compared to regular Crucible? What's the point then? Also, the Crucible menu removes ALL choice from the player outside of choosing Quickplay or Competitive play. No choice in game mode and no private matches. If you don't like one particular game mode, well, that's tough, as Bungie's system gets to choose the mode, not you. Plus, it's still a peer-to-peer game with all of the easily exploitable network manipulation tricks that plagued Destiny 1.

Bonus issue lightning round: Static loot made the loot side of the game boring as all hell. Mods are a welcome addition but tying power level to legendary mods that are pure RNG is absolute BS - then again, the way everything aggressively scales, to individual players, power level feels meaningless anyway. Not being able to get mods through other means (legendary shards, dismantling) is a major oversight. Most exotics don't feel interesting enough to call exotic. There's a small handful of exceptions like Sunshot or Wardcliff Coil. Bounties are gone, replaced by less interesting and more repetitive daily, per-planet, "challenges". Classes are dumbed down to the extreme: You get to choose one set of four talents or the other, no mixing or matching allowed. Tokens are the predominant award for EVERYTHING now. Tokens to turn into some other vendor rather than being rewarded for your activity. (Destiny 2: The Token King?)

I bought the game two weeks late and my two characters are already 301 and 300 respectively from casual evening and weekend play. As previously mentioned, most of my clan is already playing other games again. I heard more enthusiasm in party chat about Battlefront 2 than the short term future of Destiny 2. It's pretty clear Bungie/Activision are targeting a more casual audience - one they hope will splash more cash in their microtransactions no doubt.

It feels like Bungie are too scared to make an ambitious game now. The new weapon system hurts my eyes and brain to witness, the new exotics are underwhelming. This makes Vanilla Destiny (1) feel like the Citizen Kane of video games. The only good thing about it are the looks of the new raid mechanics. But overall I’m glad that I did not waste my money on this “game”... Expand

The game mechanics are still spot on. Running and Gunning is satisfying. There is a lot more vertical jumping in this one which my titan had no problem with, but my friends warlock was struggling with (he may have just sucked at jumping, I never played warlock)

If you didn't pick up Destiny 1, I would say give it a shot. You may get to feel a bit of wonder for 20 or 30 hours exploring the world for the first time. For any one that has played Destiny, then you have played Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 is an improvement from Destiny 1, but worse than Destiny: The Taken King and Rise of Iron.
Those two expansions added significant quality of life improvements over the original game, but Destiny 2 contains none of these.

Destiny 2 at the moment isn't a game for fans of Destiny, it's a game for fans of an FPS.

When D2 was released, I chose to play it the way it's suppose to be played and I did enjoy it. The story was decent and flowed very well. Setting and details on the PS4 PRO look amazing and I'll always love a decent PvE FPS.

But here's what I did not enjoy as a 'semi-new' destiny player:

    1. For an FPS, it felt somewhat unnatural. Movement felt slow, sliding didn't flow well, and turning was more of a frustration than anything. Despite that, eventually you get used to it and it won't bother you. It was just something that pissed me off right off the bat.

    2. I get the idea of fireteams and bungie wanting you to come in with teams because a lot of the end game task do require communication. If you are someone who doesn't like playing with others, does a lot of solo, or doesn't care to go on the bungie site and find fireteams.. you're not going to get the full experience of the D2 end game.

    3. Once you get to that ~300 light level (currently at 303) and you've done your weekly milestones. There's really nothing to do but grind (and yes all you intense D2 players.. I know that's the point) but for those who don't care to do that, you may find yourself playing the game less and less. I'll play every tues - wed (SOMETIMES thursday) and get the milestones done and then move onto a new game. If crucible had more of an incentive or something, trust me i'd be on that but there's nothing for you there.

Don't get me wrong, I love the game but there are some things to watch out for if you don't really know what you're getting into.

Bungie was clearly upset about how D1 turned out and they didn't like how people were playing "their" game so they ripped it from our hands and went "no play with it like this!". Barely anything has changed, same gameplay, same endless grind for gear to grind for better gear, the AI is still brain dead to the point where PVE is basically a shooting gallery, difficulties are gone, everything is too easy, you can sprint through most of the story missions without firing a shot and everything looks like a Hollywood set(fake and set up to make the player think there is more there than there is). There is absolutely no reason for this to be a "shared world shooter" that is a pure marketing gimmick, it would be so much better if they just dropped that money making BS and focused on making a coherent story. Instead what we get is an incoherent mess with high school level writing and lore that not only makes no sense but is now filled with holes because it does not line up with the last game. But at least it's a "social shooter"! With no proximity or in game chat at all and 99% of players are antisocial only coming together because the game forces it. Well the PVP must be good then right? Nope. The PVP is hot garbage, fanboys will try to tell you it "takes more skill now", ignore them it doesn't. All you do in PVP is follow your team around like a lost puppy and team shoot the other team's stragglers, that is literally all PVP is. Abilities also charge way too slow so don't expect to use them much or at all, the entire point of destiny is the abilities and they are barely present now. Surely the gear grind must be good? To which I say there is no grind any more. God tier gear is now handed out like candy on Halloween, by the time I finished the campaign I was decked out in legendaries and exotics and I didn't farm anything, hell you don't even have to play to get gear any more just join an active clan and let them play for you, you get free gear from that too. Without challenge video games are completely pointless, I know most of bungie are probably on the left side of politics given how they tend to balance their games to benefit people who are **** at the game and to them "Sharing the wealth" must make them feel so good on the inside, but the fact is that kind of design makes playing games like this completely pointless. I don't want to be handed god tier gear just for being a warm body, I want to earn it. Why should I even bother playing when I can just join a semi active clan and check in daily for free gear? I feel ripped off and I got this game for free, let's hope the DLC which I also bought is better than this nonsense. Expand

So how could they rate the entirety of this game? It's an FPS that tries to be an RPG, though it mostly flops on the later. Destiny 2 is smooth and precise in most of what it does, it just regularly does those things without a lot of true feeling - most of the campaign felt numb despite the dire situation that humanity is put in. I don't know why Destiny 2 falls short of expectations as the fanbase has been very vocal about what they (we) want out of the sequel, which arguably came too soon. This is a very shallow RPG at-best so it's really all on the shooter side of things that the game makes its hay, and it occasionally does. There's an outline of a great game here. It plays like one, it looks like one, but it never feels like one. Destiny 2, like Destiny, is fairly hollow. Had it not been for The Taken King, I think Destiny would have been abandoned long ago. Perhaps quality DLC can save what is arguably the briefest narrative and weakest RPG experience of AAA gaming in history (that's subject to debate, but I'm mad at this game so I'm gunning for it right now), but why the heck do we need DLC to save a game? Is it because it's under the Activision umbrella? Who knows, it's just not that good. Expand

If you’re a casual player looking to spend time experiencing Bungie’s first class shooting mechanics, you’re in for a treat. If you’re a returning player who was looking for more, there is trouble up ahead my friend...

Having put a great many hours into the game, experienced all it offers, it becomes clear, and fast, that the game turns boring. Loot stops scaling at around the 260 power (previously known as ‘Light’) mark and the only way to power-up higher is the completing of weekly activities, which can be done once per character, per week. Once done, and once you find yourself at the 265/ 270 mark, infusing exotic weapons and/ or getting exotic engrams are your only way to scale up. It’s either mindless grinding for the same loot, of which has baked-in perks (more on that latter) or make new characters to take advantage of being able to do multiple weekly milestones.

While the latter sounds appealing, it’s actually detrimental to anyone looking for long term replay ability, because there is no incentive to grind out the endgame activities beyond getting what you get, the first time. With the lost benefit of raid weapons and gear not having raid perks nor even random perks on normal loot, the incentives to keep playing is lost. I reached 300 power very fast using the multiple character method and once there, activities that granted rewards useful to me, diminished exponentially.

This is a huge step backwards in a looter game, and that’s the bottom line in this genre: getting better loot. Everyone has the same loot now. There is no more White Whale to pursue anymore.

I’ve digressed though and believe that what I am about to say, should be the only thing that needs to be said. More than 90% of the people who have been leaving reviews here for this game, have been comparing it to the vanilla release of Destiny.

And this, critics, is not only a mistake, but it shows just how out of touch you are, and have been, with the many progressive changes made to Destiny, up to this point. There were a lot of extra incentives added to Destiny. Post Rise of Iron expansion saw the game in a truly fun position.

Gone, entirely, are all the changes that year 3 Destiny had that helped mold the vanilla experience, over time, into a wonderfully rewarding experience.

Sequels should retain aspects of their predecessors, for continuity sake. Movie producers and novelists alike know and understand this. However, and I cannot emphasize this enough, more must be built upon that foundation. More. Not less.

Destiny 2 is three years behind Destiny: Rise of Iron. Quite literally, we veteran players who stuck with Destiny from day one launch, we are playing that same bland vanilla Destiny experience of 2014, all over again.

Critics praising Bungie for the story and fancy graphics, need to stop. Just stop. Those are characteristics that are, in this era of video gaming, come to be expected of any first rate developing studio. Expected! You don’t praise an adult for tying their shoes every day, do you? Unless you have stuck with Destiny since initial launch and up until now, your critiques, opinions even, are entirely moot.

Do not buy this game. Maybe, in two years time from now, the game will offer everything that Y3 (Year 3) Destiny does. But, really, who wants a repeat of 2014 again?

Hardcore fans are abandoning the sinking boat. Have no illusions, the game grows stale and the casuals, whom this game was clearly targeted at, will leave when they do and will grow bored, fast. Anyone left standing who was a hardcore fan, if any at all by then, will be left wondering if the whole experience was a nightmare and they can finally wake up.

Stop spreading false information, critics. You cannot compare this game to vanilla Destiny. In doing so, you are clearly disclosing your lack of intelligence and acknowledgment of the fact that Destiny has, since launch, never seen many expansions and core mechanic changes that have refined the end user experience. Stop. Your. Madness.

Search Youtube for a video by “Skill Up.” It’s an hour long review of Destiny 2 and one of which tens of thousands of fans are in agreement with. You owe it to yourself, if you value not only your money, but the integrity of the video game industry.

The game is an insult to creativity, ingenuity, inspiration, and takes no risks. Nothing to see here. Nothing you will truly miss. Move along.

If you’re looking to critic reviews, or listen to people that tell you to ignore user reviews, ask yourself this:

Would you rather take the word of someone who is not knowledgable, in that they are comparing an outdated version of Destiny, minus all the software updates and changes for the past three years, to Destiny 2? Or the word of someone who has put in thousands of hours into Destiny, up to now, and many in Destiny 2? Someone who has skipped three years or someone who has seen them all?

If you played Destiny 1 not much has changed since you just get reset to nothing to start the grind over. At times I could not tell the difference considering enemies and assets are almost the same with little changes. The improvement is in the story delivery, now it actually feels like a complete game even if the story is you get your butt kicked and your city stolen then you gather your allies and assault the bad guy and take it back. Most of the things that made you come back over and over just for the sake of grinding and not fun are gone. It still takes a good amount of effort to get to the highest level but really there is no point in doing so since enemies scale for the most part.

The bad parts which depending on who you are they might not be bad is that the game can and will feel a bit easy. The connection issues are there for PvP and the inability to select PvP game modes is annoying.

The levels required for the better parts of the endgame like the RAID and Nightfall are fairly easy to reach anything more than recommended is just bonus if you have the people to play these activities with.

You can play this game if you have not played D1 without feeling lost since the story in D1 was so badly told and mostly irrelevant to D2 you can just read the Wikipedia if you want to know more. Also there are things that are redone so this feels like a minor reboot.

In general Bungie listened and made the game more casual gamer friendly for people too busy with life which is what all fun games do and should do. If you are a casual gamer you will like it better than D1 since you can reach a point where you feel like you are done until the next DLC/expansion etc.

A former Destiny 1 Player, Reviewing this from a 4K TV on PS4 Pro.
    I can't score this more than a 5 for the below reasons;
    1) The game only runs at 30 frames per second. It feels choppy, sluggish, unresponsive at times. The turn speed cap on the game is horrendous, if someone jumps behind you, it's a nightmare to do a 180 and shoot them. (Games like Battlefield, COD, Overwatch,

(Games like Battlefield, COD, Overwatch, Lawbreakers to name but a few examples, all feel incredibly smoother game play wise compared to Destiny - the decision to go 4K @ 30FPS is the wrong one in my opinion, especially as it doesn't benefit the players who do not have 4K TV's or PS4 Pro yet. Instead, the game should either run at 1080p @ 60FPS, or if you have a PS4 Pro & 4K TV, you can turn the FPS down to 30FPS and run the game at 4K if you would like that option - myself personally, I prefer smoother gameplay, lesser graphics, ESPECIALLY on first person shooters where aiming is of such importance)

    2) The aim assist is possibly the strongest I've ever experienced on any FPS game, it feels like it's practically aiming for you. I put this down to the low frames per second, because the game doesn't run smoothly enough, if they took away the aim assist, you wouldn't be able to aim with any meaningful precision.

    3) There aren't enough new enemies, there are new planets, but they're not much different from the Destiny 1 planets, they just have different names.

    4) The story campaign is poor. People who say "Well the story is much better than Destiny 1" .. Well, yes, that;s true, but that's because Destiny 1 didn't have any story, it doesn't change the fact that Destiny 2's story is poor just because it's better than Destiny 1's non-existent story. The last boss fight on Destiny 2 is one massive anti-climax.

    The Good:
The guns feel great to use, the sounds, the impacts, the music is brilliant, the quality of life improvements are much appreciated (such as not having to return to orbit to travel to where you want to go next)

All in all though, I am bored of the game already and I don't enjoy playing it because of the 4 reasons I stated above. I was burnt out on Destiny 1, I couldn't handle going from smooth games such as Overwatch & BF1 back to the sluggish, slow, choppy feeling of Destiny, it just feels horrible like I am playing a PS3 game. I think Destiny 2 has improved in some areas, and got worse in others, it's all a matter of opinion what you prefer. As Destiny 2 isn't different enough from Destiny 1 for me, it just feels like I am playing the same game all over again from the beginning but with slightly improved graphics and quality of life improvements.

When I first heard of the new Warframe Lite 2.0, I was very excited.

The AI is terrible. Enemies have a strange strategy of walking up to you to be a bigger target. The PvP has no direction, trying to be CS, Halo, and COD at the same time. It simply relies on teamshooting, with none of the thrilling speed-demon tactics that pull us in from the first game. All we hope for is that Bungie uses this cashgrab to better fund their next projects, but most likely it'll end up as promotion money for Cayde-6, the unnecessary comedic relief of Destiny. Until there's a discounted version with all the DLCs, you shouldn't buy this game.

I enjoyed this game initially but have soured on it the further I play. Gunplay is still the highlight of the series and the story was solid, if not at least there. Downside is the removal of features from D1, continued lack of in-game lore, no real new activities to the endgame and an odd game-play direction (4v4 and ability cooldowns) for their PVP.

Bungie opted to hide players' connection from us, but you know something is fishy when you are shooting a player and he is taking no damage.

The story is weak. I don't understand how it is considered good. Bungie introduces to Ghaul, and tries to make us sympathize for him, but his motivation are never clearly explained. He also kills his mentor without any precedent. My reaction to it was, "Wow. Really?"

Nightfalls, Raid, and Trials no longer drop loot to help you reach max light. Everything always drops 10 levels below you. It gets the question, why even bother? The most challenging parts of the game should have been rewarding, but they aren't. Instead of getting loot drops for most activities, you get tokens. You then use these tokens to upgrade specific characters, but everything they give you is always lower light. Even the raid npc give you low light gear.

It has plenty of content although most of it is easy. Once you reach light 265, most of it becomes irrelevant since it doesn't drop higher. Lost section were a missed opportunity. They should have been post story mode, 280 plus light, but nope.

In truth, I will most likely play this game a lot because of the shear amount of friends who enjoy playing it, but it's average a best. Not an 8 out of 10 like reviewers are giving it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Bungie delivers Destiny 2 as an improvement of the original and to my surprise they pulled it off really well. Destiny as a whole had a solid formula for a great FPS and MMO but was executed poorly. However Destiny 2 maintained that formula but executed pretty well.

Destiny 2 offers a rich cinematic campaign with a coherent story and tangible threat named Dominus Ghaul of the Red Legion than the supernatural entity known as the Darkness in the original Destiny. The characters are fleshed out even more and don't feel like the the cliche old boring character that gives out exposition before starting a mission. Characters such as Zavala, Ikora and Cayde were fleshed out and felt like actual characters that we can relate to. Although the campaign was more or less a very cliche story to sum it up is basically a villain comes to ruin everything and we as the hero save and defeat the villain and doesn't really have anything unique to it.

The game adds 4 new destinations: European Dead Zone on Earth, New Pacific Arcology on one of Saturn's moon Titan, Arcadian Valley on Nessus, and Echo Mesa on one of Jupiter's moon Io. Each new destination improves on what the concept of exploration with Lost Sectors, Regional Chests, Public Events and Adventures through the open world. You can also land in specific landing zones scattered throughout the destinations maps instead of a specific location like in Patrol back in Destiny 1. However, some destinations felt kind of rushed for example Io which is by far the smallest destination in Destiny 2 and disappointing as the Pyramidion had potential to be an open world dungeon but it's just closed off and can only be accessed via the strike.

The loot haul is more rewarding now and didn't feel like a chore at all in Destiny 2. It's by far the biggest improvement of the game. It made me want to grind more and it felt more rewarding the more i leveled up. Even at it's most grindiest the loot haul is still rewarding. It can however have the potential of people throwing their controllers as Engram drops are still random and can result in people can weapons they already own.

Destiny 2 offers a variety of activities including Strikes, The Crucible, Public Events, Nightfall Strikes and the Raid. However the activities have problems on their own in particular loot. Loot is more rewarding and each activity does merit the same amount of loot. The problem is that some of these activities take really long to complete and are not even worth doing if their not on the milestone tab. An example of this is an incentive to due Public Events rather then Strikes as the Events are much more quicker to complete and merit the same loot when doing a Strike. Aside from this, the activities are fun in particular the raid. Raids in Destiny have always been a staple of why players play the game. They offer complex mechanics, enforce communication and teamwork to complete without offering guides within the game forcing players to do trial and error in order to learn the mechanics and rewards you immensely when completing an encounter. However you also get tokens in each encounter and these tokens are used to earn reputation from the Raid faction and earn loot via RNG. Again, this can cause some people to think the grind isn't worth it as there is a potential to get the same loot 2 times in a row. Loot for completing the raid and Loot gained via leveling up with the raid faction.

Other negative things I like to point out is we don't get a sparrow until the end of the game despite Bungie knowing that these destinations are big. It felt like they did this to increase playtime and hours in the campaign. The only way to get a sparrow before the endgame are through bright engrams. And unfortunately my second negative concerns are the micro transactions. Shaders are now one use consumables that you can obtain. However, cool legendary shaders are locked via these Bright Engrams. Although Bright Engrams can be obtained via leveling up, they take a long time to get. It's basically like OverWatch's loot boxes. I would be fine with these engrams however they also had to add mods to these engrams. Mods are basically consumables for your weapon and armor and perform specific things if you apply them to weapons and armor. Legendary mods up weapons to 5 attack and or defense. Although not that bad, it is kind of a scumy way to enforce a pay to win system in Destiny 2 as a 5 attack and or defense can really make a difference.

In general Destiny 2 is a major improvement of the original Destiny. Although still flawed and kind of ruined by micro transactions, the game showcased that Bungie did listen to feedback and criticism on the original Destiny and improved on the game. I recommend this game.

Destiny 1 at its peak with the Rise of Iron expansion was a masterpiece and a shining example of how properly implemented expansions can turn an otherwise mediocre game into a fantastic experience.

Destiny 2 takes the Destiny 1 formula, gives us the same great gunplay, improves the story and gives us one of the most memorable soundtracks in recent memory, then completely ruins it by skipping out on the fantastic quality of life changes, game modes and huge amount of player choice that made Destiny 1 so great. The huge variety in weapon perks that kept players coming back even after maxing their characters out to look for that perfect god roll is gone. Strikes have been reduced to a random playlist only and can't be individually selected, not that you'll do any because their rewards are more easily earned via quicker public events, strike scoring and strike specific loot are both gone. The nightfall, once one of Destiny 1's most challenging activities has been given a timer and reduced to a glorified speedrun mode. And to top it all off their newest raid the leviathan is an incredible looking raid ruined by some of the most puzzling and tedious raid design decisions I've seen in any MMO.

The puzzling design cuts also extend into PvP, with all matches limited to 4 versus 4 only, and all matches limited to two random playlists meaning players now can’t select the kind of matches they enjoy. Players petitioned bungie for months back in Destiny 1 for custom PvP matches and were ecstatic when there request was finally granted, this is now gone for Destiny 2. Players also asked bungie back in year 1 of Destiny 1 to separate PvP and PvE modes to facilitate balancing and to prevent PvE players being forced into PvP, this has not been done and has in fact been worsened by forcing PvE players to go through 10 PvP matches per week if they want to maximize their power level gains for the week.

In conclusion, Destiny 2 is fantastic until you hit level 20, then it becomes a hollow shell of its former self. The game feels like the team that made it were completely oblivious to the progress Destiny 1’s team made during its expansions especially with regards to the endgame.

My main reaction to this game is the frustration of seeing how much missed potential there is for the franchise. There is so much more that Bungie can be doing with Destiny, and I was hoping they'd hit the nail on some of them with D2, but alas it's not the case. It's like no one at Bungie plays any MMOs that have really well designed customization and progression systems.

Single player campaign is cheaply executed. Raid finder modes not there since we're missing out if we don't know anyone or are part of a fireteam. Just ditch the raids and focus more on strikes which are better anyway. Rated this very low when it came out but I've realized it's much better than the first. It does better on some things and worse on others but what else in the shooter department has this much creativity without hindrances like Fallout 4's terrible base building add on that felt more like a chore. If you like science fiction and shooters this is great but please Bungie don't make it all about Eververse and pay to play or even just focusing on raids. Shaders should not be limited and just ditch the mods. Exotics too common and most of the time end up being the sames ones over and over. So much potential there it's just not being given any attention and instead focusing more on micro-transactions and whether or not you have raid fireteams. I get more enjoyment working with complete strangers in the strikes or crucible. It's like World of Warcraft when Blizz had enemies attacking the capital cities pre-Cataclysm. Those sorts of open events are way more interesting and offer more surprises than any raids. Raids are completely pointless and just a way for companies to cheat out solo players from epic loot and make you lazy by letting others carry you instead of bringing your own solo experience to the table. Even if Bungie backtracks on some of these horrendous missteps, there’s evidence that the dev team is either flailing around without a clear idea of the experience they want to present, or even worse, they’re happy to offer the least amount of mediocre content possible until the player base starts pushing back. When free-to-play titles like Warframe and Let it Die seem monumentally more generous and offer vastly more entertainment value than a triple-A sixty dollar release built with a budget large enough to feed whole continents, it’s clear that something has gone horribly wrong.

Destiny 2 is tough to compare to other shooters or games, but it is evidently a better title than part 1. The campaign is longer, the progression makes more sense, the structure is more satisfying and the sheen and splendor on the various planets entices even more. Destiny is comparable with its predecessor after the add-on The Taken King, and is therefore a more solid foundation for the coming months of content.
