Its the best rpg looter shooter game out there. The best content. You can always find yourself with something or the other to do in the game, never gets boring. Sound tracks are the best.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

This game is a masterpiece, the best in its genre. Beautiful graphics, mechanics, very good extras. I've never played a better game. The creators of Destiny, Bungie studio is a very talented team, and under sony it will only spread its wings. A wonderful takeover, halo can hide. Microsoft, your punishment is not final. Best for meatballs.

I enjoy it. But in some ways it's like being kicked in ya meatballs. I want to spend eight hours working on my game and I like it when I'm grinding in a game or on a confused grad student.

I wish the enemies didn't sponge quite so much, though it's better than before. And I also wish my dam neighbor would TURN DOWN the dam hip hop. It's crap music and always will be.

This game is an improvement over Destiny 1 in every way. The attention to small details is what really makes the game stand out. This game certainly has minor flaws, but the improvement over D1 is instantly noticeable. The story is strong, the scriptwriting is well-written at times. The mechanics are as sound as always and there feels like much more depth this time around. I would recommend to new and old players alike.

In brief: very similar to the original, but more fleshed out story, new multiplayer maps and more practical menu systems. In general, Destiny tells an interesting sci-fi story, and the added emotional impact from the story makes you care. Bungie is good at this, just look at Halo. Unlike D1, there is probably something here for most people, though not everyone will sink 300 hours into it. And that is ok.

The only thing preventing this from being a 10 is the expectancy that DLCs will make the game unplayable unless you keep paying Bungie. That is a big problem.

I only have two main gripes with it. First, it's difficulty level through most of the game is such that though you can explore using strategy, you can get by without using it - so basically you can go in with a weapon you're best at and comfortable with, shoot 'em up, and if you're hurt go hide for a little bit, come back out, and repeat. Second, and this may not be a factor for most of you, but the Trophies are lacking. The only trophies there are are gold and silver for endgame content and that's it. I enjoy trophies especially in a game like this because it gives extra incentives and goals to aim for outside of the game and getting these isn't too difficult. Other than these gripes, it's definitely an improvement on the first game. Let's hope the expansions are worth the money. Expand

Excellent Game!!! going to give honest pros and cons, but first just want to say that people talk poop about this game alot, and they did before the beta, and they did for destiny one, and they will continue to do so. Its really silly, and 99% of them dont have any real reason for not liking it. Anywhoozey, Destiny 2 is a huge improvement on destiny 1.

    Lets start with the pros!

Its really silly, and 99% of them dont have any real reason for not liking it. Anywhoozey, Destiny 2 is a huge improvement on destiny 1.

    Lets start with the pros!

-Mechanics! The game feels great! top tier fps, from the creators of halo, so expect that quality.
-Loot! This game is all about finding the best weapons and armor. in destiny 1 the rate that loot dropped was way slower. Destiny 2 ups the ante a bit by making loot drops more significant! Also most of the legendary armor looks a lot like the armor that was harder to obtain in D1. Everything you do in the game gives you loot and everything is fun! you will constantly get sidetracked chasing side missions and tasks.

-Story! Not something that bothered me in D1, but most people hated the lack of story in destiny 1, and they were right about it being nearly non-existent. Destiny 2 has a great story, with great sequences, set pieces, and characters, all connected through great CG cutscenes. The story is roughly 6-8 hours if you do nothing but the story, and missions are also alot meatier!
-PVE/PVP! this game is a multiplayer game! But you can pretty much play the whole game without talking to another person. Play the way you want to play and you will earn rewards. Everything in the game can be played with friends. I play almost all pve and have spent hours without touching the PVP portion of the game. either way there is enough game to justify the price tag.

Onto the cons section of the rant!

Glitches/Fixes- Especially early in the life cycle there are minor glitches and hiccups. i have had enemies lag/warp across a room a few times. Also this game will have weapons and abilities that are way overpowered. fortunately bungie has hotfixes and patches that fix these things but as content roles out new op weapons and abilities will come out too. so if your super power titan is destroying people, expect that to be fixed.

Microtransactions - There are microtransactions in this game. people are really upset about this one, but its no different than every other game with microtransactions. theyre all cosmetic! shaders, ships, emotes, auras. you do not have to buy them and they are not shoved in your face. you will also earn loot boxes to recieve these items as well. vote with your wallet on this one, but its no big deal. i spend 5 bucks on it every once in a while, but its worth it to me because i will dump hundreds of hours into the game.

Rehashed D1 content - This is the only thing that i actually didnt like. There are specifically some items and abilities that were in destiny 1 that have returned in destiny 2. A few of them were altered enough to feel super new and fresh, but there are some things that just feel reused. if you didnt play destiny one much this wont really matter, but specifically with the hunter, the abilities all feel like destiny one, and theres only 1 new exotic helmet. Game still feels awesome, just disappointing when you want to see everything updated and new.

There are a couple other things to mention that arent pros or cons just facts that you could take either way so here they are.

-DLC! This game will have hundreds of dollars of DLC releasing over the next few years. If you love the game then its 110% worth it. but if you dont like the main game then dont buy it! More importantly, i see alot of people in comment sections talking about buying the game of the year edition with all the dlc when that eventually releases. My warning is that the goal of this game is to get to the end content where the best content is. This means that Everything but the most recent DLC is basically obsolete. So trust me when i say, you are not getting a killer deal when you buy the game of the year edition. your just buying the most recent expansion, the exception being the story. Since no DLC is out for D2 i cant verify that this is true for D2, but it was for D1, so hopefully they upgrade the old content as dlc is released with destiny 2, and if youre not sure then thats what i would look for.

Final Thought: This game is great! Dont overthink it! If you enjoy a solid triple a shooter, with the ability to play with friends this is your game! bungie will continue to release new content, some free but mostly paid. Vote with your wallet and spend what you think its worth.

The reviews for this game are extremely skewed. I would discount 90% of the negative reviews and treat the mixed reviews as the negatives.

I'm not sure what the issue is with all of the negative reviewers, but everyone I have played with, friends and randoms, are all enjoying this game. Even as I type this, I bet most of the people who have left bad reviews are still playing the game.

Destiny 2 is the way to go. It is a great shooter with MMORPG characteristics. The planets are bigger than D1 and the graphics make you feel like you're really outside the earth. Also, the campaign was good and try to explain many details in order to create a nice story. If you like sci-fi games or play Destiny 1, you'll enjoy the game a lot!.

Ignore the nonsense 0/10 reviews. This game is everything fun about "Destiny: The Taken King", but expanded upon and revitalized. My only real complaint is the bullet-sponge bosses are still here, which aren't much fun in the face of lacking mechanics. Expecting good things for the raids however.

A big improvement over Destiny 1 at launch. The campaign is engaging, there is lore in the side missions, there is so so much more to do, new zones are worth exploring, and the gun play as always is fantastic. Some negatives, similar enemies, classes lose alot of their customization, feels like a massive expansion.

Absolutely fantastic. For someone who never played the first Destiny, I am not disappointed because it didn't meet my expectations because I had none! Not a perfect game, but by far the best and most addicting one I've played all year. It's a shame people rate this anything below a 5 for what is truly a well developed and quality game. Full recommendation from me.

My main reaction to this game is the frustration of seeing how much missed potential there is for the franchise. There is so much more that Bungie can be doing with Destiny, and I was hoping they'd hit the nail on some of them with D2, but alas it's not the case. It's like no one at Bungie plays any MMOs that have really well designed customization and progression systems.

Almost every story mission has a cutscence which adds more lore and information that Destiny 1 was lacking, otherwise the story missions are more interesting and keep you going during the more boring fighting periods. Instead of the old boring patrols of Destiny 1 Bungie has added a new way of fun patrols. There is travel points in each planet for faster ways to get to adventures, story missions, public events, etc. The patorling is more fun and less time riding around on your sparrow. Most of the weapons have stayed the same, but there is a new change where you have a "kinetic" primary and a "energy" primary weapon and a "power" weapon which is the Destiny 1 secondarys and heavy weapons. This adds a fun new way of allowing a long range primary and a short range primary with a fun strong power weapon. Yes this game is similar to destiny 1 because it is a sequel. There is a lot to do, so far I've played about half the campaign I'd say, a good few patrols, and a few side quests- and it's all brilliant, really cool cinematic cut scenes and every mission is immersing and fun. I'm looking forward to the raid next week and some pvp now the servers are online, but based on the single player experience so far I should probably give it an 8 having only played half the campaign, but I feel from what I've played that this gets a well deserved 9 from me, and could well be a 10 once I've played all it has to offer, but we will see. I don't see myself playing it a lot because in Destiny 1 I sucked and I assume I'm going to suck here as well. I enjoy the story missions and each feels as if It actually has a purpose. The cutscenes are also fantastic. Giving you snippets into the situation of the Cabal on Earth.

The grind is back, at least in the early game, using a weapon you really want can be annoying. I have been forced to use a scout rifle I hate because it has a higher power level that I need for the mission. In the end game you can infuse, but in the beginning, it is annoying. The new Public Events are a blast and the director is a huge improvement.

Graphically there isn't much improvement but Bungie is managed to make it look much better without improving resolution. New details in the game make each enemy and surface look more smooth and the lighting is improved drastically.

All the zero scores on here a simply ridiculous!! The game is more of the same but with better graphics and sound, There's loads more to do in D2 than the first game! As for some people saying it's only an 8 hour campaign, it's longer than that! If you enjoyed the first game then you'll love this. Haters gotta hate but this game doesn't deserve this much hate!!!

The story-telling is fantastic and an incredible improvement to Destiny 1's disconnected and mostly confusing plotline. Outside of main story missions, there are a plethora of activities for players to do: public events, lost sectors, strikes, patrol missions, PVP, Adventures, and of course the upcoming release of the raid. After +1000 hours of Destiny 1, D2 feels fresh, active, and most importantly fun! Joining a fireteam with friends and going on missions and strikes is incredibly satisfying and a hundred times better than D1 where you would have to leave the planet to go to orbit before selecting the next event. In D2, my friends and I have been able to jump into a mission in the EDZ, break down at The Farm, and get right into the strike playlist with no issue and the ease of slicing butter with a hot knife.
I fully plan on playing the hell out of this game, and once you start playing it's very hard to put down. One second you are running through an 'Adventure', the next a public event starts and you start doing that, and a wandering world boss comes up and joins the fray. It is a step forward for the franchise and I cannot wait to get my hands on the new raid in a week!

I rate games based on how fun they are to play and Destiny 2 is fun to play. Is it as good as it could be? Probably not but nonetheless it is a fun game that has a decent story and will provide me with hours of entertainment whether playing with others or solo.

The graphics and sound are top notch. The gaming mechanics are as good as they get with a shooter. As stated previously the story is intriguing and actually helps define more about the Destiny universe, much more than the original.

To me this game is worth buying, playing and enjoying. I'll get hundreds of hours of playtime with it and enjoy most all of it. Will there be some grinding... sure. If you've ever played any game with levels and loot you know there is always grinding to be had. But if you don't enjoy leveling or seeking some rare item that takes time to get you should switch entertainment forms because that pretty much sums up gaming in today's world.

I'm glad to see so many enjoying the game as I am. For those who hate it and have called it basically trash... I have a copy of Bound by Flame and Hour of Victory I'll gladly sell you.

After a few days with the game, and experiencing all the content currently available (Trials of the Nine, and the Raid are the main things missing), I can form a mostly complete opinion of the heart of the game.

After playing Destiny 1 on and off throughout its lifespan I was optimistic for D2 and am pleased to see while the core gameplay is nigh identical, the fat has been trimmed and systems refined into a far better core experience than the original did,. It even has a decent campaign that is 95% playable co-operatively in a three man squad. If you liked the original, you're going to love this. Mostly.

There are a couple of choices made during development which while minor do stop me from giving it a perfect rating. Primary of these being the choice to simplify the subclasses. I assume this was done to more easily balance them in PVP, but making the builds from 10 or so different 3 node choices made for a great amount of build diversity. Now these have been trimmed down to a choice between two options per subclass, I don't feel as unique as I did in the original.

The second is the public event system. At first its great, but the same event spawns in the sam eplace every time. It would've made for a much more living breathing world if each event space had a different event spawn on it each time one started.

The last thing I will mention are the shaders. I can't say if the choice to make them single use and sell them in microtransations is a problem, because after two days I haven't played enough to see if it actually IS a problem yet. I'd rather there weren't microtransactions in any game, but like people farting on aircraft, it's a fact of life we are going to have to learn to live with. Every other change to shaders though is 100% positive. Being able to colour each individual item, (equipment, ghosts, ships etc can all be shaded) is a really nice touch and enables me some individuality back from what I lost with the subclasses.

All in all, it's a great game with a bright future.

I am gonna be honest, at launch destiny 2 archived what destiny 1 couldn't in three years... make me proud of this game
Let's start with the story, it was great, fun, well written and told. Characters were very good, with personalities and goals. One bad part about it was a weak exposition of the vanguards crises, they exposed it very well tbh, but the exposition we had to this crisis was pretty short (we only had it present in 1-2 missions per character). The mission design was marvelous, all mission didn't feel empty like D1's defend the objective missions, the last four missions are a blast, and the last one is incredible. All of them gave me a sense of progress, epicness and victory by the end. Also cutscenes were superb, and ghaul was a really strong antagonist withheld defined objectives and motivations
Destiny 2 's post campaign activities feel very nice. Public events, strikes, lost sectors, adventures, world quest, exotics, and the clever reputation system gave me a reason to get back to every beautiful destination and play for hours its activities
Strikes got a big improvement from D1, now bosses are not as bullet spongy as the first one, but they still pack a punch. Not only that but all of them have some sort of mechanic, although some are only aggressive move mechanics that the boss uses throughout the fight, there are still some pretty good ones.
The leveling system is really good this time around. It feels rewarding to infuse weapons and get them now, and feels really good to level up, although after lever 265 it feels really grindy to level up, the game activities could still pull me into farming
Nighfals are Back with new modifiers and great challenges, divided into two modes, normal and prestige, the new raid is coming September 13 th, we have high expectations for it, and we have milestones to give us a direction of what to do to get more endgame loot
The loot system has been improved, giving more rewards more often, without the presence of three of
    Coins
The crucible( pvp) is back now 4 V4 with 2 playlists: quickplay, which relays on a connection based matchmaking priority, that focus on enjoyable and casual matches; and competitive mode, where two teams are put competitively against each other. An endgame mode for pvp, called trials of the nine will be constituted of crazy compatível matches against other players, in one of the competitive modes, the team who wins the game gets points in a passage, that if gets fully completed without loses, gives the players an insane amount of the best loot available in the game
PVP fells casual and balanced, fun and rewarding, even if you are not into PvE, the crucible will still give you ways of reaching max power level

    Thx for reading
And thank you bungie for this game

I've completed the story and now am having a ton of fun completing challenges and having to figure out how to unlock Exotic items. I read a lot of reviews talking about the grind, as a long term MMORPG player this is childs play. The end game content is actually fun and challenge based for example having to get X amount of head shots with pistols to unlock a specific item.

Bungie have done a great job with the loot system too. Basically anything you do from PVP, to public events to strikes you're rewarded with gear that is incrementally better than what you have. This means whether you have 5 minutes or 5 hours to play , you're always making progress.

At 270 light I'm having alot of fun between doing strikes with mates, jumping into some pvp (crucible) or completing challenges to unlock new weapons.

    Highly recommended

Destiny 2 is a real achievement, and it's unfortunate that it attracts such a troll following online that, for some reason, get off on trying to see the game fail. There's a large swath of people that were burnt by Destiny 1's launch (and for good reason, I won't dispute that), and just haven't let that go. But that's fine.

If you played Destiny 1 for its entire lifecycle, you'll know that The Taken King was Destiny 1.5. It really shook up the mechanics of the game, introduced a coherent and pretty fun story.

Destiny 2 earns its 2. It's a radical shakeup, huge improvement over the original in terms of storytelling, visuals, convenience…and it's enormous. Seriously there's a ton to do right out of the gate. There's plenty here for your $60.

But if you stick around for the long haul, Bungie is going to continue to improve, refine, and expand.. just like it did in D1.

Bungie is working against impossible expectations for this game, and what they've accomplished is pretty extraordinary. There's not another game experience quite like it.

There are two ways to approach this game and depending on your approach the experience will differ by a large margin.
Most of the attraction to Destiny comes in the end-game content where the 'grind' for ever better gear really comes into play. It's almost a necessity that the end-game grind is played with friends as without anyone to share, compete against and compare with the game

Most of the attraction to Destiny comes in the end-game content where the 'grind' for ever better gear really comes into play. It's almost a necessity that the end-game grind is played with friends as without anyone to share, compete against and compare with the game almost becomes pointless.

Without friends to share the experience with then you could argue that grinding for better gear post-campaign is irrelevant as you can't ultimately then start any of the advanced end game content like the Nightfall or the upcoming Raid.
Yes you can find a team via LFG or via the upcoming 'guided games' in-game feature to find like-minded players but these people are not friends. Of course you may get lucky and make friends via LFG but chances are low.

If I had to score this game as a solo player then I would be going in at 6 or possibly 7.
    + entertaining story
    + great gun play
+ good variety of gear making sure load outs don't go stale.

But this isn't what Destiny is. Destiny is about the community of players on your friends list. As a social experience nothing has ever come close to the Destiny franchise. I've been gaming now for 33 years through every console and home computer and all gaming genre's.
After the tried and tested and ultimately tiresome Call of Duty type shooters I hung up my shooting boots. There was no innovation anymore. Then Destiny came along and despite all the problems it has faced what cannot be argued against is the way it has made and ultimately raised the social aspect of gaming to heights I have never experienced.

The way you work together as a team of 3, 4 or 6 depending on the activity and the sense of achievement you get from completing that activity is up there with the best gaming moments I have ever had.

Destiny 2 continues in this vain improving and refining the whole package.
An actual campaign story now exists with legitimately interesting (if not entirely original) characters. I wanted to know more about our new villain with every beautifully crafted cut scene that we were given.
The environments are stunning and are a perfect sandbox for future story expansions and live events.
The gun play is still as good as it has ever been. Yes the weapon system has changed but rather than give you a knee-jerk 'this is terrible' opinion, having now played for approx 40 hours I can say it works absolutely fine. Kinetic, Energy and Power weapons now make sense and finally Shotguns and Fusion Rifles can be massively overpowered without causing uproar in the PVP community.

As for PVP. The aforementioned weapon changes may have been influenced by the PVP gripes of Destiny 1. The first game's PVP suffered at the hands of shotguns and abilities. Many serious PVP players would bemoan how easy it was to get shotgun kills or kills with abilities (such as grenades), methods that seemingly required less 'gun skill' than a purely primary vs primary contest would offer.
Well that's no longer a problem. PVP is now way more focused on primary gun skill which ultimately will offer a purer PVP experience and I'm all for this.
However I'm not a fan of the 4v4 only game modes. 6v6 was great fun and perfectly fit in with PVE 3 and 6 man activities. Many times as a raid group of 6 we would fall into PVP post raid or even run a few PVP matches before a raid while waiting for all members to come online.
This is no longer possible. Nor can you take a 4 man PVP team into a PVE activity without kicking someone out. The balance here is off.

I have seen a lot of moaning about micro-transactions.
Let me tell you that this IS NOT A THING. Yes you can buy some items with Silver (bought with actual money via your consoles store) but these are mostly vanity items. There is one experience boosting item you can buy however all of these items can be bought using in game currency as well!
Once you reach max level, every level up thereafter rewards you with a Bright Engram. Said engram once decrypted gives you a selection of these pay items. Not only this but if you dismantle these items you get something called Bright Dust which works the same as Silver and can be used for purchases (including the experience buffing items). There is no pay-2-win in this game.

Overall this is more of the same. Which in my opinion is a good thing. My friends and I are now hooked on all of the same good things that hooked us to the first Destiny. Long may it continue.

However if you didn't like it before then you're not going to be converted now, this sequel does not re-write the hand book. But the same can be said of any gaming series. You won't like Fifa 18 if Fifa 17 is not your thing. Forza or GT will always just be another car game unless you're a real petrol head.

Well done Bungie. I look forward to the upcoming raid, trials events and future DLC with anticipation.

The campaign is short and straightforward; this isn't a choose-your-own-adventure RPG. I was told whats happening and what I was supposed to do, and I went and did it. It feels more like a prologue, and the snippets of lore I learn while playing strikes and exploring the world provides more insight.

I keep seeing pay-to-win thrown around here. I'll lay it out, and you can make up your own mind. You can buy a Bright Engram (basically loot crates) with real money and there's a chance you can get some gear mods which do impact gameplay. Those SAME mods can be bought with glimmer (the in-game currency) from a merchant. In both cases, what you get is random (and in fact, the loot crate has a chance of not containing a mod at all). You also get a Bright Engram every time you level up and it has the same items potentially available as the ones you buy. You can 'dismantle' items from Bright Engrams, bought or earned, and receive a special currency that can be used to directly buy featured items (cosmetic or otherwise) each week.

I enjoyed Destiny 1. Loved the art design, loved the gameplay and D2 is more of the same. There's a lot of people out there and everyone of them seems to have a different definition of what Destiny was supposed to be. For me, it's always supposed to have been fun, and it's that.

I carefully picked through the 'reviews' on those that gave the game a 0 or 1 rating and you can tell they haven't actually bought the game and probably haven't played it either. Haters gonna hate. One reviewer admits to coming to his conclusion from watching You Tube. Seriously?! Another said he hated Destiny 1 and this is the same crap. Well why buy Destiny 2 if you didn't like Destiny 1?

Don't believe the low scores as clearly, they must have their own sad reason and motivation for giving them, but they are just untrue, unreal and unfair. Game designers must despair when people exist solely to give out zero scores.

The game is a lot of fun and I can't wait to get back to it (I'm on business away from home right now and am missing playing it). I liked Destiny 1 a lot and this is much better, a lot more than just DLC which some claim. Some people are whining about the micro-transactions - then don't pay them; you can still play.

To the immature people that reviewed it as a 0 or 1, grow up. You clearly had no intention of giving it anything else.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Destiny 2, the latest addition to the series is an overall improvement to the first Destiny. Unlike the original Destiny, Destiny 2 has an actual story line planned out starting off with sorrow and tragedy, progressing towards redemption. Although the original wasn’t terrible, so far the sequel has done everything better, from the voice acting to the impressive graphics and framerate.
The gameplay of Destiny 2 is near perfect. Ok, we have only seen a little bit of the game however from what I’ve experienced so far, the game runs smoothly with no dropped frames, this paired with the fact that there is a smooth-flowing momentum to the game results in flawless gameplay. With a game like Destiny 2 it is necessary to have working textures, not only for lore but for overall enjoyment- and Bungie has hit the nail on the head with Destiny 2. With the incredibly improved graphics from the first Destiny, something had to go wrong, it seem just too good to be true; however the final release of Destiny 2 was outstanding with very little flaws to the world design.
When it comes to the storyline of Destiny 2, it could have gone any better, with very few flaws in the story, players are left with an action packed storyline that tugs on the heart. From the very start you are left with devastation after the destruction and sorrow as you fight to redeem yourselves in the eye of the traveller. During the story you get to level from level 1, all the way up to 20. This is done, very cleverly, with a set campaign to follow, you will level up in no time, although say you get bored of following these quests (which is very unlikely), Bungie has very kindly given you many other ways to level up, such as adventures and events, which reward you with better gear. Moving onto endgame, the first main target is to finish the campaign which rewards you with the ability to obtain more powerful gear, while also granting you access to the new social space. After you finish the immersive questing, your next aim is to raise your power, to get your guardian as strong as you can get him. This is obtained through the all new strikes- a series of events that you have to do, to the reach a powerful boss at the end to obtain your loot. The loot chest always drop rare gear, which go up to 260 power. Along the way you can pick up rare, legendary, and even exotic engrams which can be decrypted and turned into very high power gear that often come with slight buffs like “enemies explode on death.” Along your course to 350 power, there is also the weekly nightfall, which also rewards powerful gear, as well as the raid, Leviathan, which is do-able with your own team at 260, however is recommended to have 280 if you are using the whole new guided games system, which allows you join other people looking for other members to do Leviathan.
However PvE (Player vs Environment) isn’t the only thing there is to do In Destiny 2, you also have the PvP (Player vs Player) environment, called The Crucible. This one of the many things to do during levelling, or at end game. There is also a competitive or casual aspect to it as well. On the competitive side you are teamed up with other competitive players to eliminate the enemy team before they eliminate you. There are many game modes such as control, countdown, clash, supremacy, survival and Trial of the Nine, my personal favourite being survival. The aim behind survival is that each team has 8 respawns, and once each team have used up all their respawns they are out, and have to spectate. This creates a competitive environment where guardians can go to obtain gear and show their worth.
The world design in Destiny 2 is astonishing, and navigating through the different planets is made simple, with a touch of the touchpad you can open the roster, and all the destinations you can travel to, as well as view you quests. Each world has its own environment and enemies, with plenty to explore and fast travel evenly distributed in between. This paired with the fact that this is vanilla Destiny 2 sparks a lot of hope in terms of new planets, where expansions have been confirmed with the release of the limited edition, which contains the season pass. As seen with the first Destiny, Bungie did an adequate job while spacing out the expansions, and left a small space each expansion where content had dried out for new players to catch up.
Compared to all the new competitors released this year, Destiny 2 is definitely up there with the best, with easy controls, brilliant graphics, and the addictive grind for gear it is very easy to become addicted to this new release. The constant release of new expansions provides a fresh start, often as they come with a new level cap- Unlike many new games this year to that tend to leave their content to run dry.

Destiny 2 has so many activities the replay ability is great, from strikes, to nightfall's, to the crucible, to the raid you will have a lot of fun and engaging activities to immerse yourself in. Destiny 2 has a flaw however, the multiplayer weapon balancing is not the best, and the overall variety in multiplayer modes should be the diversity of destiny 1. Destiny 2 has plenty to do tons of quests, missions, and story to explore that it becomes a great successor. The music fits the tones, and the graphics are astounding, the visual color pops out and so do the environments. Destiny 2 has some issues in multiplayer however that is not enough to have an amazing time with this game, destiny 2 is a great experience to be had and is everything destiny 1 could have been. There is WAY MORE to do for those who dont/cant raid every week and the whole "pay for play" is really pay for shaders which to me isn't that big of a deal. No there aren't many new enemies and its a lot of grinding etc but thats what Destiny is and if you bought the sequel expecting different you deserve to be disappointed. The game plays great and all of the fixes they release do a little more and more to fix the bugs, etc. TL:DR - more of the same plus more that has been added. Good story, good gunplay, fun pvp and beautiful vistas. There are very few games that once you hit weekly milestones you keep going back to when you dont technically have anything to do. this is one of them for me.

Too many focus on COSMETIC microtransactions, or negatively rate the game because its not Destiny 1.

    ACTUALLY READ! IT IS HELPFUL!

I love this game. Many of the reviews that are negative are most likely people who don't actually take the time to grasp the beauty and complexity of Destiny. Even in Destiny 1 vanilla, they got 3 big things right: Gun feel, aesthetic, and the hidden complexities. Now, I know some people dislike hidden lore or even searching for 3 seconds to read up on a character, but it is well worth it. It adds a layer to the game that not many other games have. It allows for those who want a quick 50-hour experience something to do and feel accomplished about and it gives those who want a 1,000+ hour experience something to feel proud about. The hidden lore isn't nothing either. It explains the mysteries of Ghaul's rise to power and who his mysterious teacher is. It covers wowing feats from incredibly depth characters. It tells of a time before desolation. It engulfs the innocuous secrets of Oryx and legendary evil, the darkness. It has most likely the most in terms of story than any other game out there. People who complain about a lackluster story forget all the incredible cinematic masterpieces presented to us throughout the campaign, and the missions you can face afterward. Those who complain about a lack of content haven't gone through the struggle to collect every weapon or gain every achievement, or even play the incredible raid offered to us (more on that later). However, all great things have faults. In this case, the biggest issues are gameplay repetitiveness, hardcore content, lack of new enemies and weapon repetitiveness. If you are looking for a game that gives a new experience every run, this isn't the game for you. The fact that one new enemy was added to the base game is annoying and seems lazy; however, I quickly changed my mind when Curse of Osiris was released along with new enemies for all the vex. The story is unfaltering and fairly easy. If you want a game where even after your ninth of the same gun you still feel proud of it, this isn't for you. I do believe that even with those faults the game still delivers an incredible experience that will make you smile at every corner.

The raid that was released in D2 is one of the best experiences in a game ever. The bosses feel challenging and rewarding to play against. The implementation is near genius and fits into the story perfectly. The time that it was released was slightly late and would have been appreciated sooner; however, with so much new information to explore it was hard to truly feel finished with the game.

Curse of Osiris was D2's first expansion. It served its purpose as a cheaper $20 DLC well. It added new story content and gave me a higher incentive to play and continue to mow down tons of enemies. My only complaint about this DLC is the heroic adventures, which are normal adventures only dialed up in difficulty so much they are nearly impossible for a solo player to finish.

Bungie, the creators of destiny have been rather annoying in the game as well recently. They tend to ignore the serious issues and instead go after small bugs that nobody is complaining about. They have been taking a very poor approach to fixing issues. One example is the recent controversy circling XP throttling. A game mechanic that gave players who played less an advantage over other players. That said, I still have faith in Bungie to realize their faults and turn some bads into only goods.

In summary destiny 2 has been a rollercoaster of a game and has some incredible pieces that have been either poorly implemented or just left out. Its cons are many, but the pros far outweigh them. Destiny offers a long-term experience as well as a short-term one. I only hope that the next addition to the franchise is as good if not better than the first. If you found this helpful please rate i so as I put tons of effort into writing this review. If anything confused you (naming characters from the game may be one), just know all will be revealed in the game.

I'm not sure what the issue is with all of the negative reviewers, but everyone I have played with, friends and randoms, are all enjoying this game. Even as I type this, I bet most of the people who have left bad reviews are still playing the game.

The RPG quality to the game has improved, and the modification and customisation choices available allow for very unique gameplay compared to other shooters. The music is truly stunning and the scenery only adds to the immersive experience. There is so much to enjoy in this game once you complete the first steps, with many different routes for the player can take: You can play PvP only if you feel that's for you; you can play the story if you want to truly get involved in the lore; and you can play strikes with clanmates or others if you want a teamwork-type environment; or you can enjoy all of these different aspects for a wholesome and enjoyable game The *only* flaw, in my opinion, is the micro-transaction cost and lack of high-level items in the free season pass.

Whether these details make sense or not. I highly guess most of the negative review people love the fast and furious series, which is in no way as real world as they make it out to be. There is a story now, at least. And it's engaging and interesting. The graphics are gorgeous as ever, the soundtrack and voice acting on point, the gameplay is tight as expected and the missions and exploration feel like a real improvement over the grind and almost empty repetition that was a big problem with Destiny.

But I expected more. I wanted things to be and feel different. The 3 classes look exactly the same as before - although there are new subclasses; the new weapons and gear look the same as always; so do the enemies. Why not make new classes? Or change their appearance and make them really different from one another?

It's a lot of fun, sure, but the feeling of deja vu is always, always there. I wonder if I'll be able to stay for the long haul, like I did with the original Destiny. Hard to say, right now.

    A Huge improvement
I wasn’t a huge fan of the original destiny, I ended up giving it a 6.5... It just never felt like a complete game to me…
This time around though... Destiny 2 definitely feels like a complete game…
You start out choosing a class for your preferred playstyle, creating your character... then you’re thrown into the world of destiny… right in its story…
The story isn’t uncharted level… the writing isn’t that great.. But its passable... and the characters you meet throughout have characters… there are cut scenes... it isn’t just background noise like the original destiny…
Still again the writing isn’t great so I felt no urgency trying to take down the bad guy and save the traveler…
However this is still a very real campaign…
The campaign is about 12 hours long, its cinematic at moments but missions finally feel unique... it isn’t running through the same map just a little deeper each time like the first destiny…
No... There are still planets here... but these planets have story missions that take you to completely new and fresh locations to complete missions each time…
You’ll be doing a mix of straight up clearing areas of a variety of enemies that will occasionally even be fighting each other, taking down mini bosses, main bosses, vehicle levels…
    the campaign feels fresh throughout…
However to me it sort of loses its spark halfway through and starts to feel a little more lazy with its missions structure and level design feeling more like original destiny… not quite as bad... but it gets close at time… improved like the story and campaign is the loot drops…
They’re not too frequent, not too rare... weapons feel unique so there is plenty here to fall in love with...
though a few things have changes with the weapon and armor system…
First the same... there are different subclasses you can unlock for your guardian and dump skill tree points into your preferred Grande type, shield type, jump type, and enhancements for your grenades and super move which like the grenades are on a cool down and can be boosted with combat and armor…
you still slot armor and dismantle them for parts and cash to buy weapons off of characters… but different is the fact that shaders are now micro transactions because of course they are… these items can only be used once on individual weapons and gear.. and in a game like destiny you’ll be swapping in new gear every hr. at the most, extremely slimy….
but new to the weapon system is that you still have 3 weapon types but this time you have a kinetic weapon, an energy weapon, and a power weapon…
There is no main, side, and heavy like your typical shooter..
Kinetic and energy weapons are exactly the same weapon types, however one has an element attached to it which is used for shooting through enemy energy fields…
I thought this was a pretty cool system as it encourages constant weapon swapping
this means though that there are no more rocket launchers… instead shotguns, grenade launchers, and sniper rifles live in the power weapon slot…
These weapons have such a small clip and ammo capacity that they’re practically useless outside of boss battles..
which are done much better this time around, as is the delivery of the campaign itself…
The campaign is actually paced this time with a couple of missions requiring you to reach a certain level before you can progress the story, so that the campaign is very beatable playing solo…
Level requirements usually annoy me.. but they annoyed me less here because there is so much to do on these planets… there are adventure missions which are essentially solo side quests, there are public events where you can team up with random players to take down a huge wave of enemies for some rare gear, strikes are back where you go through a dungeon to take down a massive boss with a team of 3, and then there’s the crucible which to me is the only thing I feel took a hit…
The crucible is a pvp mode like call of duty, where you’ll randomly play kill confirmed, death match, and kill confirmed type matches against other players with weapons and shields balanced to take away that level advantage… but this time its 4v4 instead of 6v6 and because of that matches just felt less fun to me... the crucible was my favorite part of the original destiny, but here things just aren’t as hectic…
teams huddle up together for easy kills against single players its just not fun, and in quickplay there are only 2 maps and it takes forever to find a match compared to competitive with its 6 different maps but still slow match building times
No raids to talk about yet, those start dropping next week…
But as someone not a destiny fan, I think it says a lot how much I enjoyed this one more even if its competitive modes to me aren’t as fun
    I give Destiny 2

I see Destiny 2 as a worthy evolution of Destiny 1. I generally always play PvE so thats what my review focus's on.

Pros • New Director available in all activities. • Gun classes change. Far more diverse weapon combos now. • Beautiful graphics. • Refined gunplay. • Less Grindy. I am not doing the same thing, so many different activities to level up(I'm at 250). Almost too many.

    Cons
    • Campaign. While improved and beautiful, still abit meh.
    • Currency. Maybe just me, but have not really spent any glimmer(except for treasure maps off Clayde). Most of the Vendor weapons become redundant very quickly as I can tell. I should feel the need to spend glimmer, not just horde it like I am. D1 had a Glimmer cap, that encouraged me to spend it.
    • Strikes not in Campaign. I still have only seen 4 of the potential 6 strikes due to it being random.

8/10 for me. Most of my Cons are fairly minor. If the Raid is great it might be a 9/10

If you came here looking for an actual review or score, then focus on the reviews from the critics and not that of the user reviews. Anyone can watch a quick video on youtube and write about **** that sounds true, by not even playing a single minute. Secondly, I feel some try to make up for all the 0s, so they give it a 10, which it certainly is not. But I can tell you one thing, from someone that has not yet finished the game, this is a massive improvement from D1. There is much more to do, the cutscenes look great and the story is presented in what is expected of a game. As an avid player of D1, my biggest concern, back then, was content. D2 delivers and brings a lot of new to the table. Perhaps what I like most, is the fact that Bungie tried to keep all the fans happy by listening to what they had to say about D1, and improve on that in the new game. If they keep on doing this, the game will just evolve going forward. For me, I am satisfied with the direction it is going. Bungie is planning to keep us, much, much more busy in the months to come and I find that extremely pleasing. The game is great and it is definitely worth a buy! Expand

It is better than Destiny 1 so that is a plus. The art is great as usual so it is a good looking game. If you played Destiny 1 not much has changed since you just get reset to nothing to start the grind over. At times I could not tell the difference considering enemies and assets are almost the same with little changes. The improvement is in the story delivery, now it actually feels like a complete game even if the story is you get your butt kicked and your city stolen then you gather your allies and assault the bad guy and take it back. Most of the things that made you come back over and over just for the sake of grinding and not fun are gone. It still takes a good amount of effort to get to the highest level but really there is no point in doing so since enemies scale for the most part.

The bad parts which depending on who you are they might not be bad is that the game can and will feel a bit easy. The connection issues are there for PvP and the inability to select PvP game modes is annoying.

The levels required for the better parts of the endgame like the RAID and Nightfall are fairly easy to reach anything more than recommended is just bonus if you have the people to play these activities with.

You can play this game if you have not played D1 without feeling lost since the story in D1 was so badly told and mostly irrelevant to D2 you can just read the Wikipedia if you want to know more. Also there are things that are redone so this feels like a minor reboot.

In general Bungie listened and made the game more casual gamer friendly for people too busy with life which is what all fun games do and should do. If you are a casual gamer you will like it better than D1 since you can reach a point where you feel like you are done until the next DLC/expansion etc.

I lost my light and then found it again. With some other people while punching tanks and chilling with a British sounding sniper who's probably more badass than I am. Guess I have to keep grinding to prove to him I'm cool enough for a beard too.

I played the Beta and I really liked the shooting but I was worried that I wouldn’t enjoy the grind and just keep doing the same Strikes over and over again. Typically one of my biggest gaming pet peeves is doing the same thing over and over again but it didn’t bother me here. I definitely got caught up in the loot based grind.

This is a game that is meant to be played as a co-op experience but I played most of this game as a single player game. I didn’t even play with friends until after I played through the entire story, level 20 and probably power level around 200.

There are plenty of things to do in this game and I enjoyed them all. Between the story missions, the adventures, the public events and the Strikes. There are couple modes that I just didn’t care for. One was the Nightfall which was basically a harder strike, its okay but I didn’t like the timed aspect of the Nightfall. I like to take my time and eliminate all enemies, not run past them. There is the Crucible which is the competitive multiplayer and that’s not why I’m playing that game. Lastly, there is the Raid which is a 6 person event that takes hours to get through. I’m not very good at video games and I feel bad when I’m bringing down my team. I don’t want to be the guy who’s bringing down the team so I feel better just not doing it.

Where this game truly shines is in the combat, its the tightest shooter that I have ever played. It just feels good to shoot things in the game. I chose the Titan class because of its definitely the most defensive class. I like to be a little “tankier” so being able to put up the wall and shooter enemies over the wall definitely fit my play style. There is some platforming in the game which is okay but I just don’t like platforming in first person.

This is a game that people are going to say, “you should play with friends” and yes it is fun to play with friends but it’s not terrible playing alone either. I have no reservations to say that this is one of the best first-person shooters that I have ever played.

Smooth gun play, good soundtrack with some truly breathtaking masterpieces and nice graphics. If you're a fan of D1 you're going to like this. My biggest gripe with the title is the vast amount of recycled content – I kinda wish that Bungee would've been more ballsy with the reforms and improvements.

    I'm still hooked though :)

However, I liked Destiny 2, it's a game to get lost in from time to time, shoot a few shots, do a few missions and, on occasion, meet up with some friends and have a great time in a 'raid'. The game also offers content to play alone or in co-op in the form of campaigns, associated with content expansions that expand the game considerably. As a shooter the game is a blast. You can tell that Bungie have learned their lesson as the original developers of 'Halo'. A great game that will make you spend dead hours in a very fun way. Highly recommended. Expand

It would appear Destiny 2 is a Love it or Hate it game. So many people are rating it either a 10 or a 0. Take all of those reviews with a grain of salt. D2 is a middling game. Good graphics, but not great. Ok story, but not great. Good campaign, but not a great campaign. I would have preferred a 7.6 score, but I'm willing to bump it up a few points rather than go down. As for the price: I just paid $39.99 USD for a large expansion to a popular franchise. Though it has a basic MP component, that's not why you buy that game. $59.99 for D2 just isn't that bad considering the crucible, events, etc. that will occur in the next several months/years. 4v4 crucible is fine, it actually encourages more teamwork. The 8-11 hour "SP" campaign is fun (I'm at about 8 Hrs, and about to finish it) enough, and I will be very willing to repeat it with another character right away, and eventually with a 3rd. Expand

Even if Bungie backtracks on some of these horrendous missteps, there’s evidence that the dev team is either flailing around without a clear idea of the experience they want to present, or even worse, they’re happy to offer the least amount of mediocre content possible until the player base starts pushing back. When free-to-play titles like Warframe and Let it Die seem monumentally more generous and offer vastly more entertainment value than a triple-A sixty dollar release built with a budget large enough to feed whole continents, it’s clear that something has gone horribly wrong.

It’s this sense of streamlined player experience that really defines Destiny 2. Where the first game had you grinding for hours just to experience increasingly diminishing returns, this is a sequel that trims away its processor’s frustrations, firmly putting fun first.

Destiny 2 is tough to compare to other shooters or games, but it is evidently a better title than part 1. The campaign is longer, the progression makes more sense, the structure is more satisfying and the sheen and splendor on the various planets entices even more. Destiny is comparable with its predecessor after the add-on The Taken King, and is therefore a more solid foundation for the coming months of content.
