    The Campaign is Amazing! And the multiplayer is great and spec ops is great but 2 things they need to do is edit foot steps and specialist streaks

    This game does some things good and completely fails at others.

    Story: Its okay, visually its the best we've ever gotten, Story wise its all about Terror and so on and on. There are some really good missions but most are forget able. It turns into the same Russia bad America good story we've seen a hundred times already.     Story: Its okay, visually its the best we've ever gotten, Story wise its all about Terror and so on and on. There are some really good missions but most are forget able. It turns into the same Russia bad America good story we've seen a hundred times already.

    Multiplayer: Animations and graphics are very nice, but there are some huge problems.
    First of all is the TimeToKill wich is way too short, you get killed so quick you can't even turn around.
    Footsteps are way too audible you can hear them from miles away.
    Some weapons are too strong, like the 725 shotgun which does too much damage over range. Its more realistic no doubt but its not a good game play mechanic. Claymores are too strong since you can now hide them behind doors and there is no way for you to tell if there is one or not.
    And last and probably most important: camping is too easy. All of the mentioned problems mean that sitting silently in a corner is as effective as ever. People just camp in a corner and wait till some one runs into their claymore, and if that doesn't finish the job they can just pre aim you because the footsteps are so damn audible. I've had rounds in wich you heard absolutely no gunfire for a minute because everyone was camping in a house. And its not a rare occurrence either, people camp in every round. So far I've had NO round were no one was camping, it's actually insane how many people camp now. And stuns are too powerfull as well, they don't just slow you down they make you completely unable to look around, and they last too long.

    The good about the multiplayer is the gun customisation is really detailed and fun to use.
    Weapons now have recoil unlike most other CoD's.
    New modes Ground War and 2v2 are pretty good.(Tho tanks are definitely too strong)
    Abilities are a good addition to the game.
    A lot of the map is more accessible so you can reach places you couldn't in other CoD's.

    Neutral Stuff: These are based on your own preference. Most maps are bad. Some weapons are inconsistent e.g. the k98 and mk2.
    Killstreaks are in the game only mode without them 2v2.
    Overall its much better than its predecessor but still needs change.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I feel this game worked as its own game, as a COD game, it doesn't work. The campaign was enjoyable and I thoroughly enjoyed the gameplay, It does three things I don't like.
    1. They make it way to controversial. I don't have a problem with there being graphic content in a game, but when there is a 2 minute long section of the game where you're waterboarded, that's a little unnecessary.
    2. Overly demonized the Russians. Like seriously guys, wtf is with their portrayal of them. I get their has to be the "bad guys" in a story, but the Russians are treated like their the literal spawn of Satan.
    3. Over Realism. Like I said, this game would work much better if it wasn't COD. Call of Duty has always been a super fast paced run-and-gun shooter. This game forces you to be very tactical, as even on regular difficulty, you die in like 3 shots.

    In Terms of Multiplayer, I still really like the gameplay, but the balancing, or lack there of, destroys any level of fun I might have. The maps are the worst part. They promote camping on another level, especially on any game mode besides TDM.    … Expand

    But all in all the complete multiplayer is great its mostly the community which is tilting.

    But to the story.
    Not all Russians are bad it is just one high-ranked person who leads HIS "army". Within the story if you listen to everything and watch all the cutscenes you will see that the aremicans are bad aswell. They keep secrets and doesn't want to cooperate in killing an russian hgih-ranked person.

    If you insistence on the history of syria don't do this.
    The story is fictional. They needed a story for the game and every MW had russians as bad guys so why not continue?
    If germans are the bad ones in games everyone likes it because of the bad bad nazis but if its any other country everyone cries.

    The game is good, but there are still many things to be improved. The map design is poor, there are few maps to play with. and it takes a long time to aim with the sniper. special ops is very hard

    This is not call of duty, this is some kind of cross between realism, which is played very slowly, maps are worthless, bugs are not fixed from the beta test..

The story and campaign is good. It has replay value and fun little achievements to get if you wish to do so. It's more mature themed and you'll definitely notice the small change in tone for sure. The guns feel good and amazing to play with. Custom classes can be made really well to fit your play style well. Time to kill is faster. Cross play is a thing and never before seen player numbers and map sizes in a call of duty game. However, footsteps are really loud in this game. No red dots appear on the minimap when someone shoots. Maps sizes are on the bigger end and people do tend to camp a lot in this game. Maps aren't the best too. Haven't really invested time in the special ops section.… Expand

    I'm not a call of duty fanboy and truthfully I swore off buying these games years ago when the company started pumping out monetized diarrhea every single year, however a current user score of 3.3 is absolutely not fair to anyone and the only people that it hurts is the players. Now let's talk about the graphics and sounds:
    Absolutely superb. I play on a PS4 pro and let me just say that these graphics are unlike any other call of duty game to date. It's almost photo-realistic. The sound for everything is done extremely well and explosions and gunfire are loud and booming. The explosions looks sweet as well. Just throw a grenade and you'll see what I mean. The dev team should be proud of their work. The campaign, though very very short sitting around five hours, is done well and is fun and interesting. But there is nothing groundbreaking here. It's a far cry from the original MW, but still decent for a soft reboot of the series. However, it still leaves much to be desired and thus will be shown in the overall score.

    Now to the meat and potatoes, what most people buy CoD for. The Online. We will start off with my opinion then do the rest in a pros and cons list. Online, in my honest opinion is great. I haven't had any lag issues or any connectivity problems since I bought the game day 1. Some game modes are familiar, such as TDM, Domination, Search and Destroy, and Headquarters. There is a new addition by the name Cyber Atack and Ground War, a huge 64 player warzone
    Online as a whole is a treat to play and look at. I would like to compare this to Battlefield. This game is more of a War Simulation. Which I personally love. They have huge maps with vehicles and tons of things going on at all times. Sniping is actually and finally viable in Call of Duty again! It's crazy, it's chaotic, and it's as close to real war as I would ever want to get. Oh and did I forget to mention it's cross platform? Yes. No need to go buy an Xbox or PC or have your friends convert to your system of choice anymore!! Log in with an Activision ID and add your friends IDs and have fun gaming with everyone else! Now don't get me wrong, it isn't all sunflowers and daisies. It's hard. Like really really hard and there are, of course, still campers waiting in the shadows to kill you as soon as you come close. There are some matchmaking issues where you will get into a match where everyone else is way higher level than you. And even light spawn issues, where you may spawn right next to an enemy who guns you down as soon as you load in, this is also goes both ways. Sometimes you get lucky and get a free kill. Overall though there is far less issues than everyone is crying about, they still need patched however. Pros:
    -CROSS PLATFORM!!!!
    - Familiar and new game modes with even more to come
    -Big 64 player ground war more is amazing
    - No loot crates or stat changing P2W garbage
    - True skill based multiplayer
    - Licensed firearms(Finally no more made up laser guns) -Kill streaks are strong. They can turn the tides of battles instead of just being for someone to rack up huge kill counts. (this one may be subjective) Cons:
    - Multiplayer bugs need fixed
    - No one enjoys campers
    - No slasher game mode (Ok, don't count this one, but I loved it in the original MW)

    The game isn't perfect, But it definitely is worth buying. I can't recommend this game enough. In fact, I have been telling all my friends and co-workers to get it, because it is so good and we can play online together no matter what system they have.    … Expand

    This game does not deserve a 10 but I’m giving the game one to offset the people getting offended. I get people are tired of the old Russian is bad and America is good narrative but the missions in the campaign have been some of the best ones in a long time and the multiplayer is pretty good. If I did not have to offset those people review bombing I would give this game a 8/10.

It shows equal acts of good and bad on both sides, showing that you can't just win a war with words.     The campaign was a master piece, the multiplayer has some balancing issues but overall a blast, the co op needs some improvements but still feels and plays amazing

    From it's incredibly precise sound design, to it's somewhat problematic, but bold maps. The game, has flaws, it's campaign can be a little overwhelming at times and the maps can be tricky to traverse most of the time. But I believe this different approach to the franchise should be    Modern Warfare, has to be one of the most intrepid and carefully crafted shooters I have ever played.
    From it's incredibly precise sound design, to it's somewhat problematic, but bold maps. The game, has flaws, it's campaign can be a little overwhelming at times and the maps can be tricky to traverse most of the time. But I believe this different approach to the franchise should be celebrated instead of disincouraged. Even if it doesn't deserve a 10/10 rating. Some recognition has to be made in order for new ideas and concepts to thrive in this now somewhat soulless franchise.    … Expand

    Good game sums up what is the Russian army and what war crimes they have committed. All these crying comments with 0 point ratings show that the sensitive truth has been touched. Crimea, Donbas, Luhansk, Syria, Abkhazia, Ossetia. There's no declared war against Ukraine, Georgia or Syria because Russian soldiers don't fight fair, they are cheaters, liars, and cowards.

    I am citizen of Russia and I think it's a great game. As for "propaganda" and other local butthurt... remember, my fellows: Russia is evil. Regtetfully, our country committed in only 20th century more war crimes than U.S. wouldn't ever do. Face the truth, buddies.

    The Multiplayer on the otherhand is a **** For some stupid reason they thought it would be a good idea to put SBMM in the game without showing what rank you are. There is no casual mode so its always sweaty asf and this isnt what cod should be. Cod was always one of the more casual shooters but now you gotta use meta weapons    Campaign is great compared to other cods, super fun missions.

    And for god's sake finally, no micro-transactions or loot boxes in the game! I really hope it stays this way as long as possible. Cosmetics can really only be obtained by actually playing the game and the missions for it can't be skipped in any way. Great!    … Expand

Campaign - Very good immersive experience here and I love the direction they are taking, yes the Russia propaganda is a bit much in places but if you can look past that and remember that this isn’t a real depiction of historic events or otherwise then it’s fun, edgy and a good entry in the Call of Duty franchise. I highly recommend playing on Realism first time through if you can handle it, great experience! The downside however... it is FAR too short. At a run time of 6-8 hours (even on Realism) I think that’s a poor effort and one of the main reasons why this game isn’t a positive for me.
    Multiplayer - Though playing through the campaign may lead you into a false sense of security that gameplay feels slower, multiplayer will draw that straight out of you again. This is simply for the reason that the time to kill here has been reduced and I believe it to be at its lowest ever point in the CoD history. It is more of a learning curve but it does feel one hell of a satisfying game with the updated gun mechanics etc. Great experience here and if you’re going to be spending most your time here, then you’ll be absolutely fine.
    Spec Ops - This... is OK. It presents itself as extension of the campaign at first but you quickly learn that this isn’t the case and as such it almost feels lacklustre. As if it were a tacked on game mode to fill out the home screen. Gameplay however is pretty good and this can be good with friends, however short lived. Overall - A good entry in the CoD series if your fan. Personally though, the campaign is where I was hoping for this to being my love back for the franchise and though it hit some good high notes, it’s length and replay ability left me with a sour taste in the mouth. For this reason I would either wait for a reduced price or buy a physical copy and trade it in when you’re done. If you’re here just for the multiplayer though, you’ll have a great time as I have so far and it’s well worth the price for this.    … Expand

The single player campaign is amazing. Some of the missions bring the reality of combat to your screen. Claustrophobic and dark building environments, suspenseful moments, and tough shoot/no shoot decisions, all a reality of fighting enemies that have no remorse for innocent lives and have no rules. Some of you will notice some missions have similarities to recent war movies, almost down to the letter. They definitely drew a ton of influence from them.

    A lot of people are upset because it paints the Russian army as being the bad guys. However, they fail to forget that this is a fictional game, with an imaginary story. But most importantly, they fail to mention that in the story, this particular section of the Russian army was in the command of a rogue general, and not characteristic of the entire Russian government commanded army, and their people. Much like there have been games and movies made of rogue sections of the US armed forces, but no one bats an eye when US forces are being naughty. 10 out of 10 to Activision for not cowering down to the politically correct crowds that think everything is offensive. Don't let the Russian bots discourage you from playing this game, as long as you keep the narrative in mind that this is a fictional story where a Russian general and his rogue army do some terrible things.    … Expand

Though all the modes are very different from one another, they all share the same core gameplay mechanics.
    The controls remain the same as other Call of Duty titles for the most part. Off the bat something that is very noticeable is the amount of recoil the guns give, as well as the muzzle flashes. It’s something that adds more realism to the game, and at first I wasn’t a huge fan of, but with time and the right attachments, it’s almost something that you could easily forget was there in the first place. Another addition to the game is the ability to mount near walls/aiming in cover. It’s quite useful, but doing it on the control certain doesn’t feel as good as it would on mouse and keyboard(console peasant problems). There are also come mountable walls or objects that complete obscure your view making it useless. You also have the ability to open and close doors now. The sliding mechanic feels like it could be worked on a little bit more, it just feels like it stops a little too fast and too soon, but this might just be a me problem after being spoiled from games like Titanfall 2 and Apex Legends. Aside from texture pop-ins and long loading times, the game runs nice and smooth.
    The Campaign definitely feels more cinematic than the other Call of Duty games that I’ve played before, especially with its beautiful cutscene graphics and lighting. There are plenty of great examples of realistic looking character models and this game is certainly up there with the cutscenes, but once you get into the game, some characters really don’t transition well. With cutscenes that looked so great, it is very disappointing to say that the story itself was very bland. I played through the entire campaign not knowing who or why certain characters showed up. Much of the advertisement of this game shows off Captain Price, but this being a reboot of the classic Modern Warfare games, the new Price just ends up losing all of his charm and becoming forgettable.
    Everyone knows that the Campaign isn’t the main event when it comes to a Call of Duty game. The multiplayer feels like nothing much has changed since the last Modern Warfare game, which is a good and bad thing. Of course, gameplay experiences in multiplayer games are varied between everyone. A new mode to multiplayer is Gungame, a 2v2 match up where every 2 rounds the weapons change, which is great for those who are looking to get a quick match or two in. Another addition is having night-vision modes to some maps, which although nice, does not look as good as the Campaign’s use of night-vision.
    My initial thoughts of this game not having any gimmicks revealed itself after realizing that the return of the Modern Warfare subseries was a gimmick in its own right. The multiplayer unfortunately doesn’t have much to offer. At launch there are only Team Deathmatch, Free-for-all, Headquarters, Domination, Search and Destroy, and Cyber Attack(a mode similar to Search and Destroy, but with the ability to resurrect your fallen teammates). There are also not many maps at launch, many feeling old quickly with tight spaces that almost reward players who camp. It also feels easier to camp because of how loud footsteps are in this game.
    The final mode in Modern Warfare is Spec Ops, which feels like an afterthought to the Campaign and Multiplayer modes. The first couple attempts to play were very buggy with the game either not starting at all or spawning me straight to my death. There weren’t many missions to play. The survival mode, being a PS4 exclusive for what will be the lifetime of this game, felt like a last minute mode added on so that there could be an exclusivity deal with Sony.
    Call of Duty:Modern Warfare felt like a nice return to form, but maybe it went a little too far with how it wanted to feel like an older Call of Duty title. It feels as great as it did back in 2009, but at the same time it deals with many of the same problems, but in some cases even more issues. The gameplay is very enjoyable to play, but unfortunately none of the modes or maps are good enough to support it. The Campaign while visually spectacular, fell flat and lacked personality. Overall, I give Call of Duty:Modern Warfare a 7.7 out of 10. It’s a fun game to jump into for a few rounds, but not one that will leave a mark for years to come.    … Expand

    Superb game. It's the call of duty we all wanted and needed. Boots on the ground. Away from all that fortnite induced disease that seemed to be spreading into games *cough*blops4*cough* fantastic game. Campaign is the best so far absolutely amazing. 10/10 all round.

Lacking a significant number of good maps. Some guns need balancing. Spec-ops feels bare bones and should be avoided. Has the potential to be an overall amazing game with new maps, balancing and updates to both multiplayer and spec-ops.

    I think it’s a great game that Activision have published for a while. It has graphic and game mechanics. Though the storyline is very dark; that is both good and bad, this is because many people want to experience the game as realistic as possible, on the other hand, it can be very political and people can offended. I think there can be room for improvements.

    The campaign is probbably the best call of duty campaign i've played in a long time. But the game does fall short on the multiplayer that isn't all that great. But at the end of the day the game more than makes up with the singleplayer campaign which is very fun.

    Story is too short and easy. Online multiplayer is a great return to the foundations that built Call of Duty, but frustrating due to a few broken mechanics: shotguns are dominant and people would rather play for stats, than the objective.

    Everything is upside down. Call of Duty has a better solo campaign than multiplayer after many years. We will remember a perfectly scripted war with a dense atmosphere, but we’ll forget about the unbalanced online multiplayer. [Issue#298]

    After a multiplayer-centric episode, the COD fans will be delight with the return of a nervous and strong solo campaign. Modern Warfare is back with old-fashioned gameplay that is more grounded and efficient. The generous amount of content adds some depth to one of the best chapters of the saga to date. Magic!

    Overall Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a good title that is marred by the expectations that the Modern Warfare name brings with it. The campaign has some really stellar gameplay moments that are brought down by the mediocre plot. Multiplayer was fun but felt a bit like the competition’s output (despite there being no Battlefield release this year) which may be a turn off for some. I don’t think Modern Warfare 2019 has done anything to make me rethink waiting for substantial price drops to play Call of Duty campaigns, because clearly multiplayer is still Activision’s main focus and that’s just not where I get my kicks.
