After completing a much longer than expected campaign (which is obviously a good thing!) I ventured onto the multiplayer, at at this i was extremely dissapointed. In my opinion it was just chaos, players boost jumping left to right, no structure, and just not a very enjoyable experience, it felt just like halo multiplayer.

All in all i think this game is worth the money, you will thoroughly enjoy the missions, and depending on personal preference you may have a good time on multiplayer, it just wans't my style of first person shooter.

Before in older versions of the game you could feel that you were running around the same layout just with different skin. It got boring very quickly and also it gave ppl using sniper rifles an unfair advantage. Most times you didn't stand a chance against a very skillful player. With COD AW now the playing field is leveled out and the average joe has a chance to shine. Exo movement makes the game fun, different and unpredictable. Snipers don't have the same advantage they once had so there's no more sitting on the spawn and getting kill after kill, now you actually have to earn your score streak. COD ghosts was trash I couldn't play it not for one second online but soon as I played this game it made me feel like I was playing a COD from old, which brought a smile to my face. Change is good! They definitely did a good job changing things up while still maintains the core of call of duty. When I first heard they were adding all this "advanced warfare" stuff all I thought of was halo and was worried I would never play a COD again, but they proved they me wrong! Good job Expand

The simplicity that made the Call of Duty franchise so fun and addicting has completely diminished with this game, and I will not be buying any future installments. Expand

Its like the 8th game in the series and yet it still looks and sounds under par. Gameplay and story are also weak and nothing special doesnt show the power of the ps4. This game has no lastability either unlike games like GTAV which is absolutely amazing.

The exosuits were a good idea, but they come out as a hit and miss. The campaign was alright, though that is mainly due to the good voice acting. The multiplayer is bad once again. It doesn't work as a public game nor as an eSports game. Boosts really hurt the gameplay especially in SnD. Latency and lag issues are worse than they were in Ghosts.

The game looks cool, but it certainly isn't.

Call of Duty became so incredibly bad with AW it made Ghosts look good. Idk how you do that. AW is the most unbalanced, shot around a corner CoD I have ever played. Then came Treyarch to save the day! Or so we thought. Shortly after launch, as a usual CoD development procedure, the guns are re-balanced every month creating instability thus ruining the experience, not to mention lack of dedicated servers, causing lag spikes still to this day. Even Ghosts had dedicated servers and it sucked. We all hoped BO3 and even AW would save CoD, but it's just another cash grab by Activision who doesn't know what made a once great franchise so great. Sadly, we have to return to Ghosts to play Call of Duty, not Call of Jet-Pack-Lag-Fare 7. I never would have imagined the franchise would go that south to where I'd think that Ghosts was decent, but that's what it's come to. So until Ghosts 2, play Ghosts.

    Good points:
    - Solid multiplayer
    - Exos are a good innovation

    Bad points:
    - Solo mode is boring
    - Pay 4 Play zombies
    - Basis coop mode is so poor
    - Not a lot of weapons, and they're not balanced (only 5 or 6 make the difference, the others do not compete)
    - A lot of sh*t killstreaks, that are too easy to unlock in some modes like domination

Now don't get me wrong, I used to LOVE playing Tribes 1 and 2 back in the day but jet packs just feel wrong with the gunplay of the CoD series.

The singleplayer was pretty good though I must admit. Now obviously people don't pay the full retail price of a CoD game just for the 6 hours campaign, but I do feel it needs mentioning. If you have no good luck your screwed because you cant get elite weapons, elite weapons is a modified version of the normal gun you unlock at the start. In the old call of duties I loved to put my sensitivity low since people wouldn't move as fast but now its really annoying how people are jumping left right and center I cant keep track, I have to put my sensitivity high but its so fast its annoying. Exo abilities and exo launchers the the most stupid idea ever made, tactical grenades and primary grenades share the same slot so now you can only equip one kind of grenade. With exo abilities sledgehammer added something called "exo mute device" which would replace the old perk dead silence so now your footsteps will only be silenced for a few seconds, also "exo cloak" you are literally invisible and cannot be seen at all which gets on your nerves since people run invisible with a shotgun shooting you from no where. Score streaks are very short and don't last long, most of them you have to control yourself like the warbird, paladin, Vulcan, Goliath, missile strike, aerial recon drone aerial assault drone, remote turret, I basically just named all the score streaks except for 4 of them. Usually I like staying on the ground finding people to kill while the chopper is in the air getting kills as well but you have to control the choppers now so there is a disadvantage for you. Most of the CoD community ruins the game by camping, running in pairs, trash talking, and just ruining the game mode like domination. In domination the objective is to capture flags and get the most points and still get kills but most people would just hold down 2 so the other team would not leave and you understand where the spawns are and the game last longer so you get more kills, about 40-50 kills each game. Now in CoD AW everyone just cares about holding all flags, you get at least 15-25 kills each game since everyone is so focused on holding every flag. Overall I think this game is horrible and the biggest mistake in the call of duty franchise next to cod ghost and I hope sledgehammer never makes a mistake like this again Expand

I can;'t remember the last Call of Duty I played, the most memorable for me would've been the first Modern Warfare. After that I grew tired of the same thing happening every year while nothing else changed. It might be for the fact that I've not played the franchise for a few years that I'm actually really enjoying it so far.

I don't care what platform people own, its preferential choice at the end of the day. I'm reviewing the PS4 version because its the version I have. I expect the XB1 version to be pretty much identical just as I would expect last generation versions to be similar among themselves.

If you enjoy COD buy this game, if you're after a game which doesn't involve much thinking, can be played with friends and is genuinely entertaining buy this game. If you're insecure about the platform you own - grow up.

Today is probably the last time I will play a call of duty game, sadly. It used to be something to look forward to the new maps, new weapons, and various things. I have been playing call of duty since the very first game so yah, I am older now and I don't have the reflexes of the kiddies so my play style is slower and more tactical.
That said, all of the cool stuff that they have previously had in the game has been removed. The maps, the weapons, everything is designed just to keep guys running from one end of the map shooting at each other. No cool new grenades, no more bettys or claymores because too many people whined about getting blown up.
Remember Black ops 2, it had some cool stuff like the microwave emitter and new things like a plantable shield. AW has that too but it's useless against guys flying over the top of it so why even put it in?
They have a 12 round grenade launcher and other things that go boom but they are utterly useless.
On top of all that this game is just dull too. The maps are lifeless, the narrator sounds generic and bored. The music is flat.
All that said I will get to the jumping. I personally do not like it but I can see that some people would. For me, it does not belong in a call of duty game.
Call of duty started out as a game in which you played or assumed the role of various soldiers in various countries from various time periods such as WW1, WW2, Vietnam, etc. With Ghosts, it was just different factions of guys wearing ski masks.
Now with AW it's the titans vs the sentinels? This game is not call of duty anymore.
For all of the guys who complained that all they ever wanted was to run around with only guns you got what you wanted.
But what about the rest of us that liked cool new weapons and gadgets? This game has the wrist firing grenade launcher but they are all pretty much a waste of time. Just window dressing to show that they are there.
They also have a laser weapon that shoots a constant beam which I really thought was cool, until I realized that guys with bullet firing guns were killing me so fast that it made the E1 a waste of a choice.
The kill streaks are a bummer too. Barely anything flying over head because god forbid we upset anyone from a harrier or helicopter making it too hard for people. And no more good turret anymore that fires on it's own, you have to operate it because hey, we really only want a balanced game.
And lets talk about the flaws in the game. First off, every game has like half the players lagging. Secondly, every time someone chats on their mic or breathes it shows up practically in the middle of the screen. It's like they screwed up on the resolution for just the chat info. This is on the PS4 btw, not sure how the X1 looks.
For all of the complaints at least GHOSTS looked and felt like a war game. The game mechanics were bad, people shooting you in one bullet and shooting you from precarious angles that you could never be shot from in reality.
Does anyone remember MW2 and how many cool points on the map people would fight over, or how BLOPS had an elevator or mounted guns. This new COD has none of that. Remember when the stats were built into the game as in BLOPS?
Remember RPG's, The Javelin, and the army of one bag? None of that here. Just vanilla running and jumping and shooting.
For $59 bucks you take a step back to what COD might have looked like in the 80's had better graphics been available. Yet this is supposed to be futuristic warfare.
This game is the lovechild of Unreal tournament, Call of Duty, Halo, And Titanfall. Except it's NOT a good thing. For all of you that are having fun I salute you but think back to the classic COD games like MW2 where it actually felt like you were in combat.
This AW is a kids game, designed to appeal to very young kids with fast reflexes. And if you listen in to the chat lobby it shows.
And before you say it's because I am bad at this game and to get better, I have been pretty solid at these games, even Ghosts which i didn't care for. But this game, it just is not drawing me in and I bet the servers for this game dry up in a couple months.

Apart from the fact I'm desperately awaiting more zombies this is a very good entry for the franchise. It runs fluidly, the graphics are good, and the mechanics work very well. Overall I would actually recommend this.

I respect that Ghosts and MW3 left a bade taste in peoples mouth's but please don't let that get in the way of stopping you from enjoying this solid experience. One more note; the graphics have actually received a nice boost and have the aesthetics of a real next gen game and thankfully, for the sake of game play, run at a smooth 1080p @ 60FPS with almost no frame rate issues such as stutter or drops. I would sincerely recommend this game to FPS fans, I believe that even if you didn't enjoy some of the previous few iterations of the Call of Duty Franchise, this should please you, just as it did to me (I am not the biggest Call of Duty fan due to some of the previous games).

Wow, a lot of bias in the reviews here on day one.
I'll do my best to let people like me know what to expect here.

This game seems very different from any of the other CODs I've been around. It took me 4 or 5 matches to get used to the double jump and side shifts, but I think it works nicely.
There are still the general campers, but what PvP game online doesn't? The key difference from other COD games is the amount of vertical movement that goes on. Rather than everyone being on the 'floor' with the occasional sniper in one of the 3 vantage point spots, these maps usually have 3 height levels. A change, but you learn to look up a little more often. The pace is faster than earlier versions, but you 'catch up' pretty quickly. Several people are making the Titanfall comparisons, which sounds accurate but I did read that these guys started planning this game out a year before Titanfall went to work, so they just got released sooner. I don't see that being a reason to start saying "merrr, they copied them!".
Anywho, overall I've had a lot of fun playing this in the last few hours (still need to check out campaign, but that's an afterthought for me). As far as cons go, I think some of the new movement needs a bit more polish. Or maybe I just need to practice it more. Also, the spawning points online seem a little finicky. Some spawns you are surrounded by teammates, others you take three steps and get hit by an enemy. If you've played any CODs before, you know they'll touch up on this in an update in a week or two.
There is just a quite a little to get used to, so I'm going to get back to it. Happy gaming, people!.

The learning curve may be a little steep for casual gamers which is probably not a great thing. The allure of cod has always been its ease of access for all level of players. The quick scope crowd may not be happy with this game either. The movement of the game doesn't lend itself to the quick scope sniper. Gun balance is ok so far but hard to judge any of that before a few patches. If you are a fan of cod, you will assist and have fun. If you have never played cod, then I'd say pick it up for the campaign and give the multiplayer a try. Over all not a bad game. Expand

I've noticed most of the 0/10 reviews are poorly written and have no reasoning behind their scores. This game is a solid 9/10, but I'm giving it a 10/10 to offset the hate. If someone says they don't like this game it's probably because they aren't good enough to be playing this game. Beautiful environments, fluid 60fps, everything is a step up from Ghosts.

Only problem I find is the lack of guns, there are few different stats (minor changes like +1 accuracy and -1 stability) for 1 gun from supply drops but overall there aren't many guns to pick from.

People who rate this game 1s and 2s have never played other shooters or are having cod burnout of playing it too much. Its definitely not a game that deserved lower then 6-7. If like me you had a break from COD then you should also find it fun.

After the horrible disaster of Ghost, this game actually is a great, fun, simple games.
    The General:
This game has AMAZING GRAPHICS, you cannot say it has bad graphics.
While on the ps3 and xbox 360 graphics looks decent, the current gen ps4 and xbone has beautiful, stunning graphics.
The controls are easy to get use to. A baby could play it.
The hit detections are great, easily one of the best.
Now the animations in this game are OUTSTANDING, its smooth, and nice.
Now the newest editions are the EXOS ability, and i gotta say, they are very well balance except the one that gives you more health. It was a concerned but you guys can calm your nips, its very well balance.
Even while it has the exos, the gameplay is still at its CALL OF DUTY finest

    The SinglePlayer:
The singleplayer is great, the storyline is alright but the performance of Kevin Spacey, and Troy Baker makes it gripping, and entertaining. They performance are amazing, everyone in the singleplayer acting/voice acting is top notch. The only downside is that i wish the story was better, but i was addicted to the singleplayer cause of the acting.

    The Co Op:
Its a decent co op but its disapointing. While its not as good as zombies but its average. Its fun for a few hours, and has a great easter egg about zombies. And once you beat the easter egg, you will get an awesome zombies skin for your multiplayer, which is cool and sick.

Now to the core of the game....
    The Multiplayer:
This multiplayer is addictive, fun, and entertaining.
With gamemodes returning to this fun shooter, hardpoint, capture the flag, war(momentum) etc
This will be a great competitive shooters for mlg and for people who wanna have fun.
But my favorite game mode is the new game mode "Uplink" which is a mix of capture the flag and dodgeball.
You have to get a ball thats randomly place in the map called the satellite, and you have to run to your enemy spawn where it has the floating goal. You could throw the ball for a point, and get in the goal for 2 points. But heres the catch, you can't use a weapon with the satellite, so it takes strategy and skills to play this game.
The maps in this game is well designed and it beautiful to look at. There is no bad maps in this game in my opinion, they are just well designed.

    My rating is a 9/10
    Pros:
    Addictive, great Multiplayer
    Fun to play
    Great graphics
    Phenomenal voice acting
    Sounds are amazing
    Well balance multiplayer
    Cons:
    Disapointing Co op
    Stale storyline of singleplayer

I recommend you get this game, its a new experience, and is very addictive :)

The Call of Duty series has garnered as much hatred as it has admiration. With COD it's hard not to make comparisons to past entries in the series. Even with this in mind, the game excels and surpasses even the most beloved COD games.
With this iteration things have been turned up to 11. The set pieces are bigger, things are definitely prettier and the game runs silky smooth. It feels fresh and the extra year they spent on the game definitely shows.

I think the reason gamers are hating on this one is that it hasn't revolutionized the series. It's not the game-changer everyone had hoped for. It's still a great game, but it is a COD game at it's heart. If you go into it with the expectation that it will be very similar to past games in the series, with a few changes and you enjoyed those past games, you will surely not be disappointed.

I do have to add that this game takes a huge dump on ghosts.

I wanted to say something good about a Call of Duty game ever since BO2. And I must say. It's awful. It's Titanfall. Even the mechs are awful though. The only quality of this game was the graphics. Which were beautiful I must admit, but that doesn't stop the game from being an absolute fail of what was hyped. This game is overrated already that it's not even funny.

AW is better than Ghosts hands down, however it does not live up to the hype. Sledgehammer took the ideas of Halo and Titanfall and renamed it COD. This will probably be my last COD game I buy. They had a good run, but everything must come to an end. Keep your money, buy it when it drops in price. When you get it enjoy Call of Duty Advanced Titanfall, I mean Advanced Halo, I mean, well you get it!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Have you ever wondered what Lester the unlikely would ply like if he had powered armour and a gun?
no? Neither did I but sledgehammer games sought to answer that question anyway. CoD:AW, while being a pretty game, with solid voice acting, and all the action and gimmicky moments you expect from the series relies on a "on trick pony" to move the plot along in nearly EVERY FREAKING LEVEL.

    --------------------------------------------------MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD------------------

Nearly every level has one Guaranteed moment where you are somehow stunned, pinned against wall by something, fall into some pitfall and are stunned, get sucker punched as you open a down and Knocked down or out, and something dramatic happens that may or may not move the plot forward. the first time, is admitly cool where you fall off a moving truck but use mag grips (gloves) to catch yourself on the side, jump to another moving vehicle to rip the armor off, grab and toss the driver into a pillar and back on to he previous truck and it's all down hill from there.

Alright right just kill a group of enemies, time to enter the hous...oohhhhnoooo I'm been sucker punched and knocked down for the umpteenth time aren't I badass yuk yuk yuk. Every level save maybe two, never fails. It's like a Survival horror game that tries to use only jump scares every five minutes to bring the horror. It only works once and the novelty wears off pretty fast. . When you have to rely on the same gimmick every level to move your plot forward, it might be time to fire your writer.

My only other complaint about the complain is the friendly fire penalty. The one thing the series has not evolved past from when CoD was a ww2 series. When you are playing on veteran, you often don't have time to check if the guy shooting in your direction is friendly or not. Specially in the wide open areas where the battle has become rather chaotic. On numerous occasions I've had to restart check point having almost completed a task only to have a friendly npc run in front of me as I was shooting at something making me start completely over. Or as I said accidentally shot a friendly cause he was shooting in my general direction as I peeked out from cover and only have a split second to react due to the difficulty I am play on.

Other than the story is pretty good, though it relies on many of the CoD tropes from games prior.
The armor abilities were more subdued than I thought they would be, but it's to the benefit of the setting.
not every game with "power armor" can be Crysis, and thankfully CoD did not try to get.
Sure, there is stealth and increased jump power/double jumping, but you also get a "Sonic" sound attack
That stuns a bit, a riot shield to help you get to that next piece of cover, little strafing boosts to help get you out of trouble, along with a few other neat little tricks.

The weapons feel solid, and sound good. The Grenades have a new trick to them, allowing you to switch it's type on the fly rather than having you use which lethal or tactical or have on you.

The multiplayer is standard CoD fare with added movement abilities thanks to the power armor to spice things up a bit. If you liked the previous games competitive or survival modes then you'll find plenty to be happy with. New kill streaks, some interesting, some not, some brought over previous games.
You also get "supply drops" Which grants new, sometimes temporary items of various sorts.
"modified" varients of guns that fire faster, hit harder, or are more accurate, "supply drops" that occur at
a set interval of your next match and ever armor/gear.

The is one last issue I need to address. the $50 season pass. Activision what kind of crack are you smoking?! I don't care how good your game is, there is no way I'm spending that kind of money for "DLC" I can get a whole other game, maybe even two if I buy used with twice as much content as the DLC. $20 while still pricey, would be a fairer price.

Speaking of armor and gear, a feature that was in ghosts that I enjoyed makes a return, the ability to customize your "operator's" look.
Though the Squads mode does not make a return. Still not being locked into a specific character model
be it male or female is an always welcomed touched.

So, all and all if you are someone whom follows the series with enthusiastic glee then you'll feel right at home. If you hated the games prior, then you still won't find much to redeem it, aside from solid voice acting and pretty visuals, and if you are sitting on the fence then consider renting first.

I'm not going to go into the plot details but you may find the villains to be a lot more rational than the good guys. I don't know why I thought that this game would be worth $110, maybe due to all the high, extremely positive reviews and the dramatic advertisements. But it isn't.

If we're comparing this to the older games, such as MW or BO, Advanced Warfare has less guns, half of which are near-worthless in combat. The exo suit makes it almost impossible to strategize or pull off large killstreaks (it's bad when the game alerts you when someone reaches a 5 killstreak and all they get is a UAV) because someone is always shooting you in the back, camping on top of a building, or sneaking around in cloak mode. The game has been reduced to extreme camping (hiding in corners while cloaked/shielded or using all the stealth perks to kill those going by) and rushing, of which neither is a more viable option. If you rush, you're likely to be shot in the back by a camper, and even on a 1 vs 1 fight, the game logic is severely flawed. I've literally put clips into enemies only to have them turn around and put a few bullets into my legs to kill me. I watched one of my teammates knife an enemy twice and then get sprayed by the SN6 (submachine gun). And then the spawn system is so screwed up that you can spawn and die within three seconds, or likewise kill an enemy that was running through the spawn point unknowingly.

The game now favors gamers that play excessively more than ever. It takes forever to get attachments/camos that by the time I had reached level 41 (when I quit), I hadn't unlocked a single camo and I was still uncomfortable with the guns I had unlocked. Going positive was considered me doing really well, and if I did any better it was by using dirty methods, such as the melee(which has increased range) and slide-shooting (using the exo suit's sliding ability to dodge the enemy before spraying them to death).

And though there were thirteen maps in the multiplayer, I honestly can't name any of them, and I played the MP for over six hours. So either the maps were that unmemorable or the game simply liked to play the same maps over and over again. Speaking of their designs, I can say that I didn't have a favorite map, but simply maps that sucked less than the others; the few that didn't have really dark corners to hide in or nice ledges for players to perch on.

As for the campaign, I didn't get past the first level. It was so boring and frustrating that I actually prefer Ghost's story, of which I didn't even play. And that's because I didn't get to experience it first-hand, unlike AW's...

Survival was surprisingly fun, but it was about the same as the previous survival modes. You prepare, you beat a wave, and then upgrade your gear. Do this task, refill your inventory, and upgrade your gear. And you make it as far as you can with that setup.

Some people might really love this game, but for me, who liked the older installments of the series (CoD2, MW, BO, BO2) Advance Warfare didn't impress me. In fact, it tried being something it wasn't. Calling it part of the Call of Duty franchise is like saying Destiny was the latest Halo. And for paying $110 for it and not liking it, and only being able to get $45 back... let me offer some advice: Borrow the game from a friend/rent the game before buying it. No one can afford to just throw money away, especially if it's going to a company like Activision. You can choose to listen or not; I'm just trying to keep people from making mistakes. I'd give this game a 6.5 on normal means, but after wasting $70 on a game I didn't like and got rid of, that lowers the score. If one included the pre-order BS CoD pulls off every year, this game really should deserve such a low score. The creators of this game should focus more on what they can give their consumers instead of how much they can get by hanging exclusive content out on a line, hoping people take the bait.

Maybe I am not the best person to be reviewing this because I haven't enjoyed a COD game since MW2 but this game has not brought back anything to the franchise or added any truly new exciting features. Let's not talk about the horrible addition to CoD last year that was Ghosts. Sledgehammer has developed their own vision for CoD's future, ands it works effectively. Multiplayer elements such as the jumpsuit are well balanced, and the campaign is a blast to play. If anything, this is the most fun CoD since the MW2-BO I era, and I fully embrace this change.

COD AW plays like a hacked version of Ghosts. The maps are badly designed mazes with. You can no longer predict enemy routes or behaviour as spawns are broken and each room or flag area has ten different ways to get to it, causing chaotic gun battles which require no skill, just luck. All of the killstreaks are useless and the pick 13 system hinders the game rather than moves it forward. Perks are relatively useless and their are two guns used in the whole game because the others are so bad. One of the best game modes -demolition has now been permanently removed and doesn't look like it's coming back - and now the only one worth playing is domination if you like team based objective modes. The new game mode Uplink is a waste of time and clearly designed for kids with low attention spans. Exo abilities are also useless and don't play any role in the game. All skill has been removed and anything which made the early games has gone. The days of playing demolition on favela and feeling the thrill of calling in an AC130 after rushing a bombsite are long gone, replaced by retarded jumping and horrific lag.

The game is slightly playable but lacks the magic that made games like COD 4, MW2 and WAW so special. This is a last ditch attempt to claw back so dignity for a dying franchise, but unfortunately it falls flat on its face.

The problem is that they haven't given dedicated servers and rely on the terrible P2P host system which causes the most game braking lag I've ever experienced in a COD yet. I used to play MW2 on a 2meg connection and rarely got lag, when I did, jumping server usually fixed the issue and I could carry on having fun. In AW lag is in 98% of games I have played causing massive frustration. I now have 80meg fibre, surely there is something wrong when I could play older games on a slower line and they played better?

When there is no lag, it can be a little fun, kind of like a free to play game is for an hour or so. Ive played until 1st prestige and feel there is no reason to continue playing. In MW2 I wanted to get all the unlocks and online achievements but in AW it would be torture top even attempt them.

It is however better than Ghosts, mainly because you can traverse the **** maps with a few jumps so they don't feel as empty as Ghosts Ghost towns.

Maybe one day they will release a decent cod, maybe they will listen to fans and go back to basics creating great small to medium sized 3 route maps with basic kill streaks and great weapons. Until then, cod is pretty much dead. RIP COD.

I'd like to point out that Call of Duty is a shooter, and that's what you will get from this game. New things about this game are namely exo suit (there are different types of suits, some allowing double jump, some allowing cloak, etc), "new weapon" (they still shoot bullets after all) and futuristic theme (2054 vs 2024 of black ops 2), but three things are quite a lot. Somehow, through the completely revamped multiplayer, the same COD feel emerges. This, mixed with the fun new levels of customization, and the sheer polish of the game (plays and looks like a dream on Next-Gen consoles), Advanced Warfare has serious potential to bring Call of Duty back to its glory days. If you still aren't sure, try out the game at a friend's house, or use the new Share-Play system (if you're a PS4 owner like myself) and make your own decisions. I am a long-time CoD player. I've played every version back to WaW. CoD Ghosts almost broke my interest in the franchise. It was a pile of garbage, period. Advanced Warfare has restored my faith in the series.

The multiplayer is smooth and gorgeous. Sledgehammer seems to have found a happy medium between the super tiny, three lane monotony of BO2 with the huge, incongruous monstrosities that were featured on Ghosts. The exo suit additions are decent changes, but nothing that will knock your socks off. Hit detection seems good, although time/shots to kill need to be brought down a bit, imo. The new, update "pick 13" system was a great decision by Sledgehammer, and lets you customize your killstreak rewards in ways never before possible.

Overall, this is a solid CoD game. If you are a fan of the series, you will enjoy it and be grateful that they did not let Ghosts sound the death knell of the CoD franchise. There are a few balance issues and tweaks to work out, but overall, I am pleased thus far.

+ Exo suits breath new life into a stale franchise
+ Increased verticality in MP offers truely high speed online matches
+ Fan communication is unparalleled against most other games

Now, to the negative.. It's still the same "I see you first, I get the kill." It has been fun playing this no skill game, but I'm already pretty much tired of it and will go back to a shooter that requires skill. This game is just a bunch of people running and flying around very tiny maps shooting each other in the back. Most of the guns feel the same, and pretty much all of them kill you in about 2 to 3 hits. What I actually used to really enjoy about CoD was the killstreaks. The killstreaks in this game are horrible. Some are virtually useless, such as the recon drone where you have to control the drone just to spot enemies while your player is standing out in the open looking at a computer screen and gets murdered because there are no "safe" places in any of the ridiculously small maps. I don't get the excitement of working toward a kill streak in this game as you did with helicopters etc in MW2.

I'll still play this game some when I don't want to have to put effort into being good at other games.. It's a decent game to grab some beers and have a stupid fun night, but that's about it.

I honestly think this new addition to the Call of Duty series is quite a good game, nothing special but it definitely does not deserve all the bad user ratings it has gotten. That being said, the campaign mode, however enjoyable it may have been, was far too short, if you buy this game at full price, you don't really get your money's worth.
I have just recently started the multiplayer mode and must say I'm happy they've actually tried to make the experience more different, even if it is not ALL THAT different! The exo-suit, while it does not provide you with a whole load of new abilities you'd expect, it still has a few really cool helpful tricks that you might enjoy and prove to save your ass during battle. The Exo Launchers and Exo Ability slots also have some cool selections to choose from that can be of great use when you're in a pinch. This opens the game up to a lot of different ways of playing, coming up with different tactics, and just feels pretty damn cool. If you were expecting a totally new Call of Duty game however, apart from the stuff I just mentioned, there's not a whole lot, but I'm satisfied with what they have changed.

TL;DR: Good game with an enjoyable but short campaign, with some great differences in the multiplayer mode but probably not worth buying at full price.

Player hosting. Same issues of weird bullets registering because Activision and their partners don't want to upgrade the gameplay so it can play better since they're making millions already. Exo survival is garbage. I have to pick between light, heavy, or recon and they can't use each others gun. So going light keeps you from the light heavymachines and going heavy means you can't pick assualt rifles or SMG. Modern Warfare lets you unlock anything in their survival mode. It just feels like a step backwards. Then there's the whole zombie DLC thing which at first was a annoyed that players have to dish out more cash for zombies but I thought, maybe the whole DLC will just focus on zombies. Nope. 1 freaking map for zombies and the rest for multiplayer in which I always felt wasting money for map packs was a waste. And for those of you saying that it's not the same developer that does zombies hence why it's "ok" that they are doing this know that Activision has overall control and anyone of them can make a zombie mode. Just because one is notorious for it doesn't make it ok for the other attempting it to charge people ridiculous amounts for what's always been in the game. Really if you want better games it's better to not pre-order and wait to see how the game is. Make developers realize that us players want better quality in our games. At least our 60$ worth. Following the disappointing Ghosts, Advanced Warfare marks a return to form for the Call of Duty series.

Campaign - While the majority of my time thus far has been spent in multi-player, what I have played from the campaign has been enjoyable, and a clear step up from recent COD titles.
The game looks gorgeous visually, and the character performances allow you to become immersed in what has been, for the first few hours, a coherent narrative. The "Advanced Warfare" also helps keep missions fresh, providing new toys to play with and experiences that aren't exactly identical to previous COD's. The only issue I've had thus far is with the quick time events. The prompts are so small you can miss them if you are drawn in to the action around you, which causes you to replay a section.

Multi-player - Fortunately this game builds off the multi-player from Black Ops2 and acts as if Ghosts never existed. This means the game has went back to the more traditional and addictive ways of unlocking items and completing challenges.
Some new features include the ability to modify score-streaks, a pick 13 system (instead of 10) and supply drops. The supply drops could have been an issue, since they are random, if it was the only way to unlock equipment, but instead they just add to the experience since they provide new apparel and modified versions of weapons that you can receive simply be leveling up.
The game also returns old modes while providing new as well, Uplink. Really there is something for everyone. Don't like the exo-suit? There is a classic playlist that allows you to play without it. However, that may be a mistake since the suit does open the game up and changes the dynamic of the entire experience. It provides a sense of experimentation and wonderment that has largely been absent from the series since the initial Modern Warfare.
The main negative at the moment has been lag and connectivity issues. This can be a major problem in a game like this, but it also is the first week, so such issues are not unexpected. It is worth monitoring how this is addressed or if it stabilizes here in the near future.

COD may not be the thinking-man's tactical first-person-shooter, but what Advanced Warfare does is bring the fun back to the series. And really, isn't that what you are looking for when you purchase and play a Call of Duty title?

This is a great game and I can see why gamerz that are playing this type of games all of the time give it a bad review. Great Graphics, play time, Story. I love all of the new weapons. I believe this is one of the best Call of the duty games yet.

With Call Of Duty people are either going to love it or hate it and with this latest instalment in the franchise the situation isn't any different, now many fans of the series have fell out of love with the series mostly because they feel the game is getting too repetitive and they keep producing the same game every year and I must admit some of this is true but there is always new andWith Call Of Duty people are either going to love it or hate it and with this latest instalment in the franchise the situation isn't any different, now many fans of the series have fell out of love with the series mostly because they feel the game is getting too repetitive and they keep producing the same game every year and I must admit some of this is true but there is always new and exciting features that are brought to the table every year that makes us keep buying the game. Now Advance Warfare has brought features like the exo suits and the various abilities that come along with that and indeed it has changed the game completely it forces players to play at a fast pace or else they will simply fall behind. The game is like every other Call Of Duty in that is very murderous but the change of pace in the game has really inserted a breathe of fresh air into the series and it is a massive step forward from last years Call Of Duty:Ghosts and I feel that the exo suit and its abilities has given new life into the CoD series for a little bit of time but for how long? Overall even though many features will be the same with Call Of Duty it is still a lot of fun which at the end of the day that is what Call Of Duty is all about isn't it? Expand

No matter how you cut it, Advanced Warfare is fun. Although the new exo mechanic is less than orginal, it brings a breath of new life that Call of Duty desperately needs. At this point, the campaign seems a bit bland. Sure there are some fun missions, but they are mostly shooting galleries with some sort of significant change within the exo. Absolutely love this game! I come from Battlefield and didn't touch a CoD since MW2 but I gotta say, this is just incredible. And no, I wasn't paid to write this. People just gotta learn the exo movement and don't judge the game because they don't put enough time into it. 10/10, would buy again.. probably ^^

Let's just get this out of the way...it is a lot like Titanfall. The setting, the styling, not so much in the play style department. Titanfall isn't as fast. Call of Duty was always fast but this one cranks it up ten notches to almost Unreal Tournament levels. Now I am aware that this comparison is almost blasphemous but I would say that Advanced Warfare is more in lines with it than Titanfall which just shares the aesthetically similar traits. It is fast, frantic, and for once is a long time, almost tactical. You have options on how to approach every scenario. This is largely due to the level design which is so heavily measured around the new movement. They remind me of the multi tired levels of Uncharted or maybe Halo. It simply is the only COD i've been interested fully since...well hell...no of them really. I like BLOPS 2 but mostly because of zombies with friends. I actually go out of my way to play this on. Everything just works and is well executed. I'm the end my final words would have to be that i'm glad i took a chance on this game. I'm glad I didn't listen to people saying it is more of the same because while yes this is still very much a Call of Duty game, it takes the wheel and doesn't make it more round, it gives it hella good tires. What a bunch of whining whingers. On the one hand 0-7 reviews scream 'it's the same as all the past cod games', condemn it, then go on to say how they loved BO2, MW2. So if this is just like them then why hate it his?? What gooses contradicting themselves with their own words! They're flaming that's all. If it's the 'same rehash' then you can bet it's much more than good. Let's look atWhat a bunch of whining whingers. What gooses contradicting themselves with their own words! They're flaming that's all. If it's the 'same rehash' then you can bet it's much more than good. Let's look at those who stand to hate the new suit. I'll give you one guess -snipers. Snipers are a blight on the game that needed to be counterbalanced. Now cleverly, we have a way of defending against the unseen if not then making it more difficult for them. At least we can now make life as difficult for them as possible and we love it but they hate it because that's all they could do, sit and wait. They are probably hopeless at real combat so snipe.

The launch issues such as lag will be sorted out. But it is in essence COD and if you wanted something so different from COD that it's unrecognisable then I suggest you play Destiny which is AWESOME!! I don't believe even 1/10th of negative reviews are genuine because if you guys value your cash so much why did you jump in and buy and not wait and see some videos first?? So do we trust the reviews of those with proven bad judgement who jumped in and bought the game without checking it out first? People who are condemning something they themselves bought are in reality condemning their poor judgement because before you spend $60 or more $$$ on a game you should check it out thoroughly.

I'm giving the game a 9/10 because no game is perfect, the extra balancing against snipers (the game's blight) the improved graphics and new maps and single player. Unlike those who bought blindly then come crying crocodile tears here I checked it out and found it worthy of the COD Franchise. My $$$ is not wasted nor am I going to come here and whine and moan because I did my homework and don't buy games I don't know I will like. Destiny I loved and this too.

Here's the deal. I'm a BF4 fan, but I love video games and am eager to play anything good....especially in the FPS genre. And CoD:AW is good. It's great, in fact. To be fair, the last several iterations of CoD, apart from the occasional sparkle of ingenuity with BlOps and BlOps 2, were boring....with inexcusably antiquated mechanics rehashed over and over again in ways that were intolerable from my perspective. CoD: AW, though, is a refreshing change, without question. Everything that turned me off of modern CoD games has been resolved with this game, IMO. Mobility is fresh and fluid. And, sound! Something DICE does so well and is so important to the overall shooter experience....thank god, Sledgehammer has put some well-deserved attention here. I'm not talking about musical score. Frankly, I don't give a **** about that. It's the ambient sound.....the little crunches and clicks and clinks of gear shifting and moving and moving-parts adjusting/settling into place.....all that little stuff just does it for me. I don't know why, but it does. It its about time that someone in CoD franchise started paying attention. Graphics are better...smoother...more liquid. Mobility...and this one is important...character mobility is MUCH more liquid, without compromising that classic CoD "twitch" that everyone loves. The new mobiilty gives the twitch legs to stretch out with. And this is important because CoD can't pull off what DICE pulls off and needs an element of compensation...and mobility helps in this regard. CoD can't pull off depth/diversity of setting that BF demonstrates. BF maps live and breathe......they are an extension of BF's dynamicism. We're talking destruction, size, scope. Immersion. CoD isn't wired for that...they're maps are still inert, for the most part, inert. There is a nod to "levolution" style events that crop up in some of the maps...like the tidal wave, for instance, in the Defender map....but to me, this shows that Sledge wants to take things that work in other games to apply to there's...in an effort to pump some life into previously and progressively lifeless franchise. But where the maps themselves are inert...the characters themselves, conversely, are blissfully mobile. I've never played Titanfall (play on PS4) but mobility is what made that game exciting, from what I understand. And CoD: AW takes it and adds a sheen of hyper-clarity that BlOps has done well with in the past, to create an almost hallucinatory FPS experience. It is fun. The advanced weapons play on this kind of "break-through" experience too. They're not absurdly advanced as to be unbelievable. They're advanced enough to refresh.

Cod still has something of an "arcade" quality that keeps it from satisfying on the "epic" BF level. But it stopped trying for that sometimes after CoD. This new game finally pulls off what CoD has become resigned to.....and it does it extremely well. The bottom line is that this is the first time I've felt excited playing CoD since...well...since CoD I and II. I imagine this'll be the first time I don't resort to trading in the game shortly after purchase, as I've done so many times in the past.

This gives me a great ability to judge this game at is full potential, and I must say there is almost no potential here. Now, let me explain, this Call of Duty like the last four, going all the back to the first Black Ops, starting off with some issues in terms of lag and what not. Something not to worry about at first, but now it has been out for a month and I have not seen a single change, nothing to correct it. Instead, I find myself, in more and more hacked matches, where literally the match starts and someone calls in a bombing run, and does it non-stop until the game crashes or everyone on the other team leaves. This also brings me to the second issue with this game, the lag, it is probably the worst I encountered of all the CoDs, no only does it have a time delay, if you are lucky, it also has the tendency to freeze mid game. Now, since then I have looked this up and found that it is all a result of the hosting, that being one person in the lobby is the host, and depending on how far you are, and their connection, you can either have a great game or a terrible one. In fact, If you are the host, unless you are sniped or shoot in the back, in one on one battles the host will general win, as what happens on their system is what the game takes into effect. This is only multiplied by the extremely small maps, and low health levels, literally meaning the host can kill you and do it again for the game gives you control of your character.

All in all to sum it up, this continues Call of Duty's long decline in terms of Multiplayer, now every once in awhile you will find a Gem like Black Ops, but this horrible designed ones in-between make it hardly worth the risk to pre-order let alone purchase the DLCs. So, with that all being said, I would say there is a small hope for CoD with Treyarch, but I would not pre-order it, instead I would rent it, check the reviews, etc. instead of pre-ordering it or buying it outright.
