One of my favorite games ever. It gives the gamer a unique chance to be Batman, with all his techniques, strategies, and gadgets, and most of all, the experience.

Great sendoff for the Arkham series. Once again, the plot and gameplay blows you away, and the graphics are better than ever. The story tugs on your heart strings and amazes you at the same time with the action. While the Batmobile is overused and the boss battles are on the weaker side, there is so much this game offers, making it a satisfying conclusion to the series.

Story: Awesome. Villains, voice acting and plot are all great.

Gameplay: Very fun, the stealth is especially good and the combat is very satisfying even if it isn't much of a challenge. Open world: the graphics hold up very well, and all of the side quests are fun expect for the riddler stuff which feels like a chore to do. Overall an amazing game I highly recommend it. The only issues

The jam packed roster of villains, let it be for smaller scale side quests like harvey dent and man bat, or for full scale gotham assault, really stand out. The story taking place all in one night, and the game being completely beatable in one 12 hour sitting also really makes you feel like batman

    Un must have.

Another legendary game from rocksteady. Everything is done in the best way. The beautiful voice of Mark Hamill and Kevin Connery, a very beautiful story, great atmosphere, etc., announce an amazing game, but the only weakness that prevents Arkham Knight from turning into a masterpiece game. Weak boos. Finally, this game, like all Arkham trilogy, is amazing.

It is incredible how still in 2022 this game holds up, it looks better, and it plays better than Gotham Knights even on the PS4.

While it has minor flaws, AKA "Tank Battles", it is still a great game from its combat flow to gadgets, the Batmobile and its combat, the story, side content, characters and overall visuals...it really immerses you.
What I loved doing with the Batman games is staying up all night and trying to finish the story in one playthrough, and when a game influences me like this one that's how you know it's an outstanding game.

Combat - 10/10 (Fast, Brutal, and Satisfying)
Visuals - 10/10 (If it looks better than Gotham Knights...)
Story - 9/10 (Really great, a little lengthy and some smaller sections are a little dry)
Polish and Quality - 10/10 (I have never seen a crash or a glitch on the PS4)

Rocksteady did a great job with this one and while the story is not up to the standards of Arkham City(of course), it is still an amazing piece of gaming history to play, it's entertaining, interesting and satisfying all the way through. Everyone is waiting for a Next Gen Batman game meanwhile it already came and left. As always I have to consider the consumer in what they might think, those that are not familiar with the Arkham games may not like this at all, I understand that perspective, but as a long-time fan of the caped crusader and my first game being Arkham City, I was introduced to a franchise I'd only dreamt of as a kid.

Hopefully one day in the future, Rocksteady will make a Sequel that surpasses all expectations, maybe an older batman, maybe a younger Batman(Damien Wayne) or maybe a hmm.., well I shouldn't talk about that.

When that day comes, I hope I live to play it (maybe I might help make it, who knows).

for me is the best batman game, better than city, or any other. The way that joker talk with batman, making funny of him is just... so funny. The relationship of Alfred and batman is like dad and son, and sometimes the game makes jumpscares, and after the scare, it's so funny. But sometimes the game is boring, like in the mission of the cloudburst tank. Anyway, this game is awesome

Also, the city of Arkham has become bigger and more dynamic in the direction of the open world of the game and more side quests But one of the negative points of this version is the excessive use of the Batmobile, which sometimes upsets the player. For example, instead of fighting Deathstroke one-on-one like Batman Arkham Origins. We fought in the car and finally when we destroyed the death stroke tank we knocked him unconscious with one punch so I don't think anyone will be satisfied with this boss fight that has lost its potential.

This is my favourite game in the Batman: Arkham series for its amazing combat that is the best in the series, the graphics, and the map. I don't have any words to describe this game it made me cry when I finished it shows you how to keep going no matter how exhausted is your body. The history is good telled but I felt like I need some variety of enemies like Killer Croc, Mr.frezze or even Bane cause al the game was involved by 5 or 6 villians. Dlc's are a very good resource of information about the game and how the characters started being superheroes or villian. For me is one of the most difficult superhero games of all time cause you fell like Batman no matter how much armor you have you are still a human. You have fellings, friends and something to protect. When you see how Gotham is destroyed you fell guilty for not being able to protect it Expand

The trailers and gameplay footage shown off at preview events was nothing short of incredible. The visuals, scale and narrative all suggested a game that would easily be a game of the year contender. Not to mention, the pedigree this series has. The Arkham series was a game changer in the industry, in that licensed super hero games could actually stand up to the very best games of that year. Make no mistake Arkham knight is a great game but unfortunately, that is all it merely is. Arkham knight delivers on a lot of its promises, the visuals are absolutely stunning; some of the best this generation in fact. The scale of the game, too, is also impressive. Gotham is certainly larger than Arkham city, in terms of landscape and things to do. However maybe its too much, too many side missions and things to do. Arkham knight seems to lack focus and it overall takes away from the experience. After completing the main story, the player is forced to complete all SIDE objectives to obtain the final ending. Meaning the side content, ironically, is part of the main content in the game. And while the side content is enjoyable, it exists to simply lengthen the game. Same can be said for some of the tank missions, for which there are too many and take away from the experience. The game becomes less immersive and instead becomes a series of boxes to tick. Arkham knight unfortunately doesn't feel like the epic batman experience many were hoping for, but merely a very good batman game. Arkham city felt like, however, an experience and more than just a game. The player was fully immersed in its open world and its narrative to become a batman experience. I spent far less time playing Arkham city than knight, however I treasure it more. It's such a shame, because the narrative of Arkham Knight is compelling with unexpected twists and turns. However this is overshadowed by the needless number of tank missions and side missions in the game. Arkham knight starts off strong and feels like the epic batman experience players waited patiently for. But eventually it becomes a Ubisoft-like open world game where the player does 8 of the same thing. Meaning it's a lot of fun, but feels somewhat formulaic and repetitive. Hence when the credits roll, the player is relieved that it is FINALLY OVER. Expand

I think Rocksteady did a fantastic work with the franchise on this new generation giving 'more of the same' in the best possible way. And with a plus: the batmobile.

The batmobile is the big thing about AK. It's like the game keeps giving you excuses to drive, meaning that AK is more of a ground experience other than a rooftop experience. But it comes with a price. Some missions make driving feel clunky and frustrating. I did not like the Riddler's racing missions, for instance.

The main story is interesting and has nice twists. Mark Hamill does an incredible work as the Joker and the game had several moments that got me in awe, saying to myself "wow, this is cool". It's a fantastic game that everyone should play.

My ONLY problem with the game, though - something that is kind of a deal-breaker - is the way the game forces you to achieve a certain % in order to finish. And for a sand-box game I think this is quite questionable. If a player decides to do only the main story, they should be allowed to do so. AK does not allow that. Even if you finish the main story you are FORCED to complete more than 80% of the sidequests in order to see an ending AT ALL. And I'm not talking about watching the good ending, like so many games do. I'm talking about ACTUALLY SEEING THE CREDITS ROLL. If you don't reach the quota, you don't finish the game. It's simple as that. And that's BULLSH*T.

    Story:
Great story! Scarecrow was a fantastic villain and his plan, not gonna spoil anything, is actually really clever with good execution. He is believable, really creepy and the performance is very good. He is very threatening and confident for most the greatest deal of the game and I really liked his design. The Arkham Knight was kind of an opposite to him. Where Scarecrow is calculating and intimidating, the Arkham Knight is more of a brute and angry force. They make for a great villain duo, though the reveal of who the Arkham Knight is wasn't that enormous of a surprise, but it is still pretty cool. There is also a lot of mind trickery and really awesome insights into Batman's mind, which stole the show for me. So, overall, the story is really good, but not perfect and Arkham City definitely had a better story.
    Graphics:
Probably the best graphics I've ever seen in a game. Surpasses the Witcher 3 in some ways, but as for the lighting, the Witcher 3 definitely wins.
    Gameplay:
Just as in Arkham City and Arkham Asylum the gameplay is fantastic and flying over the roofs of Gotham is a blast. The Batmobile is a lot of fun to drive. Especially car chases are a lot of fun. Combat is good, but nothing to write home about and it can be incredibly frustrating. Especially one part near the end. The game itself is far too easy, so I recommend playing it on hard.
    World:
The world is beautifully crafted, but doesn't feel incredibly big. There's three islands, each one about as big as Arkham City. The world is packed with stuff to look at and there's plenty of stuff to do. There's several side missions, but nothing too exciting, really. Just your average repetitive missions. So again, nothing to write home about in the side missions.
    Sound:
Sound design is really good and the voice work is absolutely amazing as always. The music is nothing too special. There's no song that'll be stuck in your head for a long time or anything.
    Overall:
It's a really good game, but not as good as we all expected it to be. There's a lot of fantastic stuff in it, but also some missteps, but overall it's quite a good ending to a fantastic series. Definitely worth a buy, but I wouldn't say it'll be my personal Game of the Year for this year. There are games that are going to come out or that have come out that are definitely superior this year, like Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Fallout 4, The Witcher 3 or Xenoblade Chronicle X. Still a fantastic game!

So firstly, I am not grading this game at all based on the controversy surrounding the removal of the PC version. Whether or not it was a wise decision is a matter of opinion, and the situation does not degrade the games polish on consoles.

SO with that being said, this game surprised me a little. I was very much expecting more of the same tried and true Arkham formula. It is there for sure, but the addition of the Batmobile and some downright brilliant voice work and writing was enough to immerse me in the world of Gotham once more. Add to that some nifty new gadgets and a larger playground full of more to see and do than ever before, and you have a worthy conclusion to the first truly worth Batman series.

Now that being said, it is a lot of the same song and dance. Plot twists are abundant, and even somewhat surprising. I won't spoil anything here, but the problem Batman faces this time around is a unique one, that manifests itself in some very creative and memorable ways.

Its got a good length, with a main story that will last about 14-15 hours straight through, but enough side missions and unlockables to keep you busy for dozens more. A wider variety of AR missions makes leaderboards relevant, but is the only aspect to multiplayer.

I see some sloppy animations from time to time, which normally I would consider nitpicking, but this being the final entry I feel these problems should be worked out by now. Rocksteady said themselves that they were not looking to make the largest game ever, but a decent sized sandbox focused on detail. They succeeded.

    8/10, Its gorgeous, its well-written/voiced, it....is.....BATMAN!

Could see that twist coming a mile away. It was still satisfying to watch unfold, but even if you're not a batman fan you're gonna figure it out long before the reveal.
RET-CON ALERT - Wait...but they had a cure in Arkham City....So what happened? The Writers: "F**k it."
Not a huge deal, but no real boss battles. At least none as good as Arkham City.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After reading all of the negative reviews, I can sum all of them up with one simple word, WHINERS. Everything they're complaining about makes no sense and leads me to wonder how much the game they actually played thus far. Nearly all of the rants are about the smallest insignificant details or they're simply asking for too much. They're like Yelp reviews who give restaurants 1 star for not giving them water within 2 minutes of sitting down.

Now, for a more honest review...

    The good:
-Improved graphics: Graphics are definitely next generation quality with improved textures and backgrounds. Watching the waves in the water was mesmerizing in itself. The new Batsuit was one of the best additions and it also got rid of the underwear on the outside look too and seems so much more tactical.
-Expanded cityscape: Gotham just got more interesting now that it's an actual city. You got the financial district that is Founder's Island, it's own Chinatown and other little tidbits like a downtown reminiscent of Times Square.
-Batmobile action: It's basically a tank which makes sense. Batman needs fire power and driving this thing around is awesome. The funniest thing is that if you're ever cornered on the street or just come across people you don't want to fight, call the batmobile and you can just incapacitate them.
-Side missions: So much more to do than just Riddle missions. Stopping TwoFace and Penguin along with other villains like Firefly and Deathstroke
-Overall storyline: Good story with Scarecrow unleashing a massive attack on Gotham. It's suspenseful and chaotic as Batman traverses the city to stop him. Some of it is pretty predictable but this isn't a Dan Brown novel. It's a Batman video game.

    The bad:
-Identity of Arkham Knight: SPOILER ALERT!!!!! This was arguably the biggest disappointment in the game. When they first announced this character, everyone speculated it being Jason Todd but since Rocksteady stressed 'original' character we figured it wouldn't be. That was until you fight him a low and behold, it is essentially the Under the Red Hood Storyline. Just slightly altered where Todd is manipulated to hate Batman instead.
-Platform issues: PC got the short-end on this whole ordeal.
-Saving: I wasn't a fan of the saving process in this game. The only time the game would save was if there was progress being made in the game which makes sense but sometimes, after finishing a mission I'd just explore a bit and not complete anything and when I go to quit the game will warn me about when I last save but won't give me an option to save before quitting. Basically, saving is relied on completing a mission/objective which i found to be quite annoying.
-Playable characters: Even though Nightwing and Robin are in this game, we can't play with these characters for extended period of time. If Batman happens to team up with his partner, then we can switch to them during fights but that's it. They also work it into the story where Batman constantly refuses help from his counterparts as well which is even more annoying. Why there weren't more 'team' missions when you have these characters doesn't make sense. It's like a tease.
-Batsuits: One thing the last Arkham game got right was being able to explore the batcave and all that came with it. While Batman doesn't has a few more remote bases like the clocktower and the Wayne Tower, you can't really change suits or anything like that within the game and you have to exit the game in order to do so. Not cool.

Overall, with the amount of content it has, it's worth the full price.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have never really been a huge fan of the Arkham Series but was an exceptional series that inspired games like Shadows of Mordor and Assassin's Creed emphasis on the simple combat system. My favorites games in the Arkham "Series" were Origins( though the reasons why it was hated the most because of plagued bugs at launch) with new ways of observing crime scenes and Arkham Asylum with it being the first to introduce the players to a intriguing world. Though City was good, the story was monotonous and filled with ridiculous side chores that got boring after just a few hours trying to solve them. Now with Arkham Knight being the last game in the "Series", does the Dark Knight prevail through the nights or fall in the darkest depths of Gotham himself?

    SPOILER FREE

Seems like the Dark Knight prevailed to the soaring skies of Gotham in this last installment of the Arkham "series" . The game for one is one of the most beautiful games that even renders well on the 8th generation of console though my sympathy are going to the PC players. I don't really need to tell the story since its been at least a couple years since its announcement with Scarecrow is threatening Gotham with his new fear toxin and Batman has to stop him from doing so. With a "New" Batman villain named the Arkham Knight going against the Dark Knight himself as he tries to go through many obstacles to save Gotham going in utter madness. The story of the game is good yet predictable. Most of the time from what you'd be guessing ( if you know the biography of the Batman world) would be right since they tend to leave out twist of the game so exposed that you can see the confrontation a mile away. Overall the story is simple yet predictable which is disappointing for the last installment for the "series".

My main gripe with the game is that is emphasizes on the Batmoble or to be honest the BATTANK because there isn't really much fun blowing unmanned drones in a game when you have to do it several times. The best times when using the Bat Tank is when using it to solve the Riddlers Riddles because it is pretty inventive on how they utilize the Bat Tanks arsenal. Either you'd be railing down on the wall and riding with the walls to solve the riddles or powering up the switches with the power cables. Combat is fun and fluid than ever before. The Bat is faster, brutal, and more varied in his attacks like using the Bat Claw to pull his enemies towards him just to slam down against their chest or using a Critical Hit with the Voltage gun to stun the enemies that surround the Bat. It's not always bashing and beating as the Bat since the enemies will have guns which will make the player think more on proceeding through the fight. The Predator gameplay has always been the same and has been improved by one new mechanic called the Fear Takedown. The Fear Takedown mechanis is a fast and quick loud takedowns that can look awesome and occupy up to 3-5 enemies base on the upgrades which the player use Wayne Tech points throughout the game. There are more that I don't really want to spoil so play the game yourself to see what makes you the Batman.

The game took me about 30 hours to fully get a 100% on the story and side quest. It was a fun and exciting adventure for the final installment on the Arkham "Series" and I hope you guys play it too. I say its a buy.

Ps. One other main gripe in the game is where the hell are the challenge maps? I can't play the characters that are shown playable freely. I heard it's coming in soon buy if I have to pay for it then I am going to be so furious.

The first and second games of this series were the best. Asylum's story was much better than any other, and City allowed for the most unique gameplay letting one be Catwoman in the story and then 4 different characters for challenge maps. I would urge players to play a few hours before judging the game. I'm about 1/4 way through the story and having a blast at the moment. Gotham looks amazing,, the attention to detail is awesome.

The charactors are all memorable and all have some very cool/funny dialogue.

Gameplay is great with numerous ways to take down enemies. The only gripe I have is it's sometimes difficult to track down a side mission (I guess its supposed to be this way to make use of detective mode)

months after the death of the joker, Scarecrow threats the gotham city with his newest fear toxin. It is up to batman to stop Scarecrow along with his mysterious collaborator, the Arkham Knight.

Combat has improved a lot. The ability to use takedown on multiple enemies while in slow really immerses you of being batman. fighting along side of you are Robin(Tim Drake), Nightwing, and Catwoman. triggering dual takedown with these guys are very cinematic and awesome.

As always there are loads of side activities, collectables, and side quests to keep you busy besides main quest. Gotham city is yours to explore freely.

So if I like the game so much, why 8/10 and not 10/10? Batmoblie, that's why. Now, don't get me wrong, the bat mobile design is very cool and speeding through the streets is fun, but the controls are awkward. Why have accelerate at R2 and have brake/reverse on Square button? Most driving games have brakes on L2. This new control takes really long time to used to and it will screw you over, especially when chasing enemy vehicle or trying to make it in time at Riddler race tracks. L2 activates tank mode, but you have to hold it. Again, why not toggle? why hold L2?

Conclusion: If you ignore batmobile's terrible control, this is a great game. Don't let the PC BrokenRace discourage you. They're just mad because the game crashes constantly

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Arkham Knight was a very good game, though not quite Arkham City I tried my best to keep an open mind throughout the game. The combat and gameplay is crisp and very engaging and the story at the end of the day was very well done. I was happy to see Scarecrow (one of my favorite villains) get a chance to shine in a rather intimidating fashion and the Arkham Knight, even though he turned out to be Jason Todd was actually a pretty awesome character himself. Though one of my complaints would be that they almost made it too easy to figure out that he was Red Hood all along. The Joker returning in the way he does was one of the best parts of the game, its keeps you on edge and every time he shows up and taunts a driven to the edge Batman, you get the sense at where Batman's mind is at psychologically. The Batmobile, I also found to be pretty cool though the fact that they made it such a necessity in the game made it kind of annoying. My only complaint was the riddler and all his trophies having to be completed before getting the best ending of the game. It felt too much like the Mass Effect 3 debacle and its a Batman game, I shouldn't have to spend time grinding to get trophies and solve riddles from one of the lamest villains in the DC universe. But that doesn't interfere with the superb gameplay which is, quite frankly so perfect that you have to admire the developers skill. In terms of the batmobile entering the fray. It's functionable, easy to use once you get used to it. As an addition however, considering the gameplay I don't think it was necessary, the game holds up, even without the batmobile.

My only complaint was that you need to do 100% of the missions to see the definitive ending, because the game is not really over after defeating the scarecrow in the main story. The majority of these tasks are fun and interesting enough to motivate us to complete it, but have to collect all the Riddler's trophies is a pain in the a**!!!!! It's hard work and nothing pleasant to do. I tried, but i couldn't deal with it and got frustrated because i really wanted to see the conclusion to the story. Besides that, if you enjoyed the past two games, everything you love about them is here: beautiful graphics, great action sequences, creative puzzles, good writing and amazing characters. Highly recommended and a satisfying conclusion to this trilogy.

It's a fun feature that really helps separate Arkham Knight from the other Batman games and it makes for some great variety. However, so much emphasis is placed on using the Batmobile that a lot of the features present in Arkham City are either not present or go unnoticed. Riddler trophies have been replaced with timed trial sections, which are enjoyable unless you're someone who loves perfecting games and go for three stars, in which case it becomes a monotonous and frustrating test of patience and intense concentration. Furthermore, travelling through the streets of Gotham on the Batmobile simply doesn't grant the same amount of exploration that City did. Batman combat was pretty slick. Has almost the Arkham City feel just somehow not as fluid. I cant tell if there are just too many enemy types now or if they intentionally slowed it down. Seems like I was a much better fighter in Arkham City. I completed main story on hard mode in about 14 hours at a casual pace. I will say this game made me jump a couple times which I LOVED.

Well i've got to say Batmobile is pretty awesome, its like adding another 50 % of the gameplay-since half of the time almost u are using the batmobile-and suddenly u play a different game than the 3 games before.
Now the batmobile itself,it is georgeous,it feels georgeous but it lacks on some parts :
1)It has extreme handlings making it pretty OP in the game.
2)there is too much gameplay with it
    3)it get repeatitive,not easly,but it gets

Now,lets not forget this is a new-gen game and on this part Batman does a good job too!
The world is not massive like witcher 3 for example but it is so detailed making an outstanding atmosphere and combining the city while using ur car on chasing thugs and **** its an impresive feeling

So overall u would say this game is pretty amazing, however, the most dissapointing thing for me is the combat!Although they add some new mechanics like enviroment knock-out(batman never kills, although he smashes their skulls)or multy-takedown and stuff, the combat seems very easy even on hard difficulty and it is completely souless...the thugs can be like 100 yet they hit in total slower than u do alone, batman is acting like the nightwing when he jumps from one corner to another 10 feet away corner, the sounds are ridicoulous and thugs fall down like puppets...i know its pretty much the same with the old games but with this potentiall and the atmosphere it feels even worse, having granded that we have played 3 more batman games with the same fking combat system...

Overall its a very good game and i think is worth buying,i just feel like all these stuff could have been added on batman origins or even batman city 4-5 years ago, having the ultimatum of a game!

Graphically and art design wise the game is a masterpiece. Arkham Knights Gotham is grittier, chaotic, and all around very fitting for the tone of the game. My one complaint of the setting, is that the whole "noir" feel of the previous games felt down, which was a little of a disappointment, but not the big of a gripe. The combat is refined, smoothing out the remaining wrinkles in the streamlined combat the Arkham games are known for. Game play and mission types are diversified from previous entries in the franchise, adding more to the "beat thugs->interrogate-> track boss" equation of the series. However, the removal of the epic boss battles from the previous games left me gravely disappointed, and is one of the main reasons of this not getting 10. The boss battles were always looked forward to by me, they always left me thinking "holy sh*the that was awesome! I wonder how he's going to take down the next big Boss!" but alas, they were removed from the game, making the interactions with the villains more brief. The wide array of side missions merely beefed up an amazing game, adding even more amazing to an amazing package of amazingness. Alas, such a marvelous game is not without its downfalls, with Arkham Knights being the infamous Batmobile. The forced tank missions and grotesque Batmobile platforming sections made me sigh and groan into my dualshock, however i managed to power through it by keeping in mind that once i complete this, i can go back to a truly fantastic game. Now that's not to say i bemoan the addition of the Batmobile, i thoroughly enjoyed hauling and burning rubber along the streets of Gotham in a bad*ss tank of pure awesomeness. However, if Rocksteady had not made it required for such dreadful missions and merely let you use it for driving around, i whole heartedly believe the Batmobile would have been better received. Batman: Arkham Knight is a must for any fan of comics and or video games. It'll scratch the itch that was left to be desired after Arkham Origins, and does the franchise justice in ending it. Truly a must have on any gamers shelf. Expand

This review contains spoilers for the main story and some of the side quests.

Batman: Arkham Knight is a fitting send off for Rocksteady's trilogy that packs a lot of punch, but overuse of the Batmobile can make some parts of the game feel monotonous and repetitive.

    Presentation:

This is definitely the best looking game in the series, and one of the best looking games on the Playstation 4. The neon lights of the city and thebeautiful rain give the game a very dark, bittersweet feel. The detail on the characters, vehicles and locations is amazing. Watching the rain bounce off of Batman's costume and soak his cape never gets old, and the addition of a Photo Mode in an update lets players create some phenomonal in-game pictures. The sound design is also brilliant. The Batmobile sounds loud and ferocious, the combat is made more meaty and realistic as through the sound of hits connecting, and the soundtrack perfectly complements the game.

    Gameplay:

In terms of combat, Arkham Knight is as good as it was in Arkham City, with some new additions such as environmental takedowns that add even more flavour. You feel powerful but never so powerful that winning fights is a breeze, and there are endless opportunities to add variety with your moves. Stealth also feels just as great, and with the enemies now adapting to how you play, you must vary your moves to make sure they don't counter you and make you vulnerable. Enemy numbers in both Combat and Stealth are a lot higher this time, especially in Stealth, but the new Fear Takedown that lets you take out up to three enemies at once (five with upgrades) makes sure you never feel overwhelmed. However, it only requires one Silent Takedown to recharge your ability to perform a Fear Takedown, and so in some of the last few fights it seems a bit too powerful, especially if you have it upgraded.

The roster of gadgets feels better than ever, especially in Stealth, where the introduction of new enemy typse and Drones means you have to utilize your arsenal more than you did in the previous games. There are a few puzzles scattered throughout the story that require the use of gadgets, but they are so signposted that they require no more than 10 seconds to figure out, which is a bit of a letdown.

Now we come on to the Batmobile, one of the main features advertised for the game. At first it feels great, a powerful, hunking beast featured in battles against drones that feel desperate as you are vastly outnumbered. As you progress through the story though, the Batmobile seems to be forced in wherever possible, with endless tank battles in the final few hours and platforming puzzles utilizing the car that feel awkward and clumsy. It is also used in a side mission in which you defuse mines across the city, where the tank battles will really start feeling repetitive, and it is highly featured in the Riddler side quest, although the creative races here are a lot more fun than the platforming puzzles that are part of the quest. Also, there are a couple of sidequests (the roadblocks and the watchtowers)which involve hunting down locations and performing Combat/Stealth sections again, and again, and again, and for a completionist, these can feel very repetitive and boring, especially if you attempt the majority of them after completing the main story.

A major problem I have with the game is that by just playing through the story you do not earn enough xp to level up enough to make a difference quickly. Most powerful upgrades require at least 3 upgrade tokens, and most of the tokens are recieved from completing objectives in side quests. Overall, I levelled up and recoeved a token about 15-20 times in the main quest, which only let me focus on 8 or so upgrades. If you just want to play through the story at first, you won't feel much more powerful at the end than you did at the start. I highly reccomend you keep a good balance between the story and the side quests if you want to level up your character properly.

    Story:

The story is very similar to a lot of Batman stories, especially those in the Arkham series. The inclusion of the Joker in hallucination form is a welcome addition, and the writing is really good, but everything feels a little same old same old. As for the Arkham Knight, the titular character, his identity seemed pretty obvious after a series of flashbacks that seemed to scream "THIS CHARACTER IS THE ARKHAM KNIGHT", and so the reveal wasn't that surprising and didn't really affect me much. Overall it just feels too much like the past games, and can feel a little repetitive with the endless tank battles.

    + Great combat and stealth
    + Joker provides excelllent humour
    + Brilliant writing
+ Batmobile is powerful and fun...at first
+ Great variety in gadgets and moves
    - Batmobile combat is repetitive
    - Awkward Batmobile platforming
    - Repetitive side quests
    - Lacklustre reveals

The story, while not up to par with Origins or City, is still a joy to play through. It's always fun to go through another chapter of Batman's history. Unfortunately, the thing that really drags this game down is both its horrendous pacing (some sections in the story can be quite boring) and the Batmobile. I actually do not have that much of a problem with the Batmobile's combat. It is the puzzle-solving with the Batmobile that really takes it too far in my opinion.

Arkham Knight is not the most satisfying conclusion that Rocksteady could've developed for their saga, but it's not that bad. There is definitely some room for improvement. The only reason I'm giving this game a 8 instead of an 7 is because the excellent combat and stealth gameplay that has been built upon over the course of the series is still here and it's still great.

Batman Arkham Knight was a game I desperately wanted to play when it first released but unfortunately I never got around to it. Mostly due to the story being spoiled for me a few months after release. Anyway, enough of that. Batman Arkham Knight is a whole lot like Arkham City. Like Arkham City, Batman Arkham Knight is an open world but this time you are actually defending Gotham City from Scarecrow and his sidekick The Arham Knight. Long story short Batman AK is a fantastic game that strives really hard to be as good, if not better than Arkham City. Though a fantastic game, in my opinion it doesn't quite reach Arkham City. I think my main problem is the batmobile. The batmobile is now apart of your Batman as much as his cape. It's being used almost constantly and though I understand that Rocksteady needed a solution to having a huge open world game and no fast travel. That is where the Batmobile comes in, and unfortunately over stays it's welcome. Don't get me wrong. The Batmobile is a necessity when you are fighting a huge private army, who happen to own thousands of tank drones. The problem is that the momentum of the game comes to a screeching halt when you get somewhere infested with these tank drones. It then just turns into a continuous bore of strafe, fire, strafe, fire, strafe, fire, strafe, fire. It just isn't fun. Fortunately though, the rest of the game is so good it completely over shadows these issues. The story is great, and I REALLY love what they do with the Joker now that he is dead. You will see what I mean if you play it. Batman Arkham Knight is a very good ending to this great series, and I can't wait to see what Rocksteady does next. Expand

This is a fantastic game, from beginning to end. Only thing that irritated me was the batmobile tank missions, and that was only because there was no option to toggle the batmobile into tank, I could only hold down the trigger. Story wise, it was fantastic, and any batman fan needs to play this game.

Gotham isn't as big you might think but its packed full of content, between rescuing firefighters, investigating murders, solving riddles and more, you're kept pretty busy.
Some things in the game can become a little repetitive but this issue is easily fixed by mixing it up whenever you start to feel it, so don't force yourself to stick to one type of Objective at a time.

Story is great fun and keeps you wanting to progress the main story though i strongly urge you do some side things in between story missions as it really adds the lions share to the game and allows for some run ins with familiar faces!

Bat mobile handles like a tank at first, but after a while you will realise you aren't supposed to control it perfectly, you're meant to take out every statue and chunk of concrete along the way, it's very cinematic and after awhile the bat mobile felt pretty natural and all in all i had no issue with the controls.
Though i do have one gripe with the bat mobile, i feel far too much of the side quests center around it, infact 3 of the longest side quest chains utilise the bat mobile almost exclusively and well.. i wanna be batman with my bat gadgets doing batman things.

Over all its a great game and i highly recommend it, but, i urge you to play Asylum > City > Arkham knight as it is a continuing story and some references will be a little lost on you.. but if that doesn't worry you then have at it!

    P.S
You can choose to just avoid any side missions you don't enjoy, so it's really not all bad and the bat mobile is surprisingly not the fastest way to travel around gotham, ejecting yourself from the drivers seat and using your grapple gets you where you need to be in half the time!

Also despite what people say this game DOES have challenge maps and you unlock them by playing the game, they go under the name AR challenges now but are the exact same thing,Some people obviously didn't play the game far enough before ripping into it.

I enjoyed a lot of this game but feel that there are too many staples of the "Arkham" series missing. We can only play challenge maps as Batman and they are now known as AR Challenges. My biggest gripe with this game isn't what a lot of people are annoyed about ( the identity of the Arkham Knight) , but the way that the game features zero hand to hand or innovative boss fights which is what I'm used to from the Arkham series. I guess you could class the batmobile fights as Boss fights but to me they did not have the same feel at all , i can remember having to actually experiment gadget combinations to take down bosses in the previous games , whereas there is none of that here. The closest thing we get is a Dual play encounter with a "Press L1 to win" sequence and a predator "encounter" ( if you can call it that) with the Arkham Knight.

I think the batmobile was focused on way too much , and im not against its inclusion , its the degree to which it is used , the only way this advances on Arkham City in my opinion is in the Graphics department , which baffles me because if Rocksteady spent more time on getting the story straightened out and giving us the 1v1 H2H boss fights we were used to , this would probably be my favourite game in the series.

The plot overall is fine with me as i heavily expected hallucinations of the clown variety the second it was announced Scarecrow was the "main villain" in this game. Mark Hamill reprised his role brilliantly and I think John Noble did a terrific job as Scarecrow. I was a fan of the Panessa Studios sequence in the game where they relied on plot details from Arkham City , but i thought there were other elements they could have relied on or fell back on also , for example Clayface is not even mentioned outside of some posters for movies and the Al Ghul's are also omitted.

The Soundtrack is once again brilliant and doesnt have too much of a different vibe from previous games , to be expected as it is the same Audio Director again. I enjoyed this game but I feel like I should have gotten a lot more out of it , and I think its ridiculous to go from having so many challenge maps in Origins (I know that wasn't Rocksteady but still consistency please) to a paltry 4 combat and 4 predator maps in Arkham Knight.
I think the worst think about this game is not having boss fights as every previous games has had a fair few of them , and City had some of my favourite boss fights of all time , it's a shame they couldnt top themselves again with Arkham Knight but im hoping the Season Pass adds more combat bosses , very disappointing that they relied on the Batmobile so much for combat and boss fights , seeing as i thought some of the ways the Batmobile was used in puzzles and Riddler sequences were genius.

Conclusion: I thought Arkham Knight would effortlessly top Rocksteady's previous efforts , A lot of my faults with the game can be remedied with good DLC but i feel like i haven't been given what I was promised and that sucks , I miss being able to spend hours and hours just on the combat challenge maps. I would replay Asylum and City and speed run them because i knew there were some cool boss fights to reward my efforts. I rushed through New Game + and i'm already struggling to find motivation to go back to Gotham

-1 point for the over-emphasis on the Batmobile. The stealth tank battles are a little tedious, but they didn't greatly detract from the overall awesomeness of the experience. If everything else was simply as it had been in the previous game, I honestly would give this game a 10.

    However...

4 crappy combat challenge maps--no rounds either, just one continuous fight with new waves of enemies appearing mid-combat, which some may appreciate, but I prefer the old system--and 4 decent predator challenge maps. Previous games had 12 of each. Well, technically, there were 6 of each with "extreme" variations on the original 6 maps, but there were still 12 combat challenge map options and 12 predator challenge map options. Also, only Batman or another pre-determined player is playable in any of the challenge maps. Given that the previous game allowed us to play as Batman, Catwoman, Robin, or Nightwing in any challenge map, one would assume that the next game would expand, not reduce this feature. Furthermore, this feature should have been expanded, in my opinion, because this feature is what gives the game great replay value and is therefore the primary justification for buying it at day one prices. (Yes, there are other challenge maps involving basic gameplay and way too much crap with the Batmobile, but these just aren't as fun.)

Therefore, -2 points for the lack of challenge maps. Hopefully, this gets corrected with the Season Pass, but at a minimum, Rocksteady/WB Games should have notified fans about this when advertising the pre-orders.

Lastly, +1 point to compensate for the misguided PC gamers who have given this review a 0 because the PC version was totally botched. I totally agree that the PC version is a 0, but this page is for the PS4 version. Please post your 0 rating in the appropriate place, PC fans.

definitely try this game out for yourself you will find a good Batman experience similar to that of the others. But definite view story and gameplay changes or new mechanics that you may love or not so much.

    The story

Following the events of Arkham Asylum and Arkham city this is supposed to be the last in a great franchise. A lot of fan favorite villains are back and going straight for the dark Knight on Halloween night. without spoiling too much early on you encounter a twist in the story line that in my opinion takes the brilliant focus off of scarecrow being the main villain. Which is a disappointment considering that scarecrow was supposed to be this new super villain which he is still very interesting and executed very nice. As for the others you don't really see them unless you do the side missions. And then we get to the Arkham night which is a awesome character and a surprising one. You know the comics and some the movies you will probably guess is secret identity couple of missions before you fight him. Overall there are some good moments that create for a very cinematic Batman experience. But sometimes a few of the story elements over shadows characters. Gameplay. An overall the experience.

    The gameplay

If you have played the previous ones you can easily pick this game up and beat up villains like it wasn't nothing which is a good thing when it comes to the controls and button layout. They definitely made it feel updated and that it flows together nicely. They also made use of new and old gadgets and actually made them useful in both combat and stealth scenarios. You actually feel like Batman when you have to you use gadgets in detective scenarios which has been completely redone which is good they are never the same and always feel like they have a purpose. Not to spoil everything but there are moments when you can team up with other iconic heroes such as Nightwing. Or Catwoman these moments are really awesome and can create some fantastic memories.

    the Graphics

the game looks really good I mean really good if you have seen the trailers they look just as good if not better. Especially with some of the cinematic moments with the Batmobile or a cut scene it looks very gorgeous and the game runs very very smooth on the PlayStation 4.

    The Positive
+ Easy to pick up and play for veterans and newcomers.
+ Scarecrow is a great villain along with a few others.
+ New mechanics to stealth (multiple takedowns. Or more use of gadgets)
    + the game looks gorgeous.
+ Beaten up criminals with iconic heroes is just awesome.
+ It's still a Batman game that you can just have a good time with.

    The Negative
= the story can become predictable.
= the Batmobile can be annoying and frustrating at times.
= I don't feel like they are many side missions versus the previous ones.
= They took out the ability to play as different iconic heroes/characters in fun challenges.
= don't be expecting new villains ( they are mostly all returning fan favorites that you have captured several times by now)

!Overall this is a very good game that delivers a good Batman experience and that will definitely keep you entertained while his week of two if you are trying to get a platinum trophy or just taking time enjoying the story and side missions. But when you compare it to the other ones you would deftly notice the flaws.

Batman Arkham Knight is a great addition to the series. Sure the PC version had a rough start, but the console version was great. The combat is very fun, and grappling and flying around Gotham is really good fun. The bat mobile sometimes felt unnecessary and felt as if they were trying to push it towards you. The bat mobile gameplay can be fun and is a good addition in my opinion. OverallBatman Arkham Knight is a great addition to the series. The good news is that this is a return to the Arkham universe and gameplay. This game series is one of my favorite series of all time with Arkham Asylum and Arkham City being my favorite games of the last console generation. If you've played those and enjoyed those you'll have a lot of fun with this game. And if you haven't played those two games, then definitely try and play themThe good news is that this is a return to the Arkham universe and gameplay. This game series is one of my favorite series of all time with Arkham Asylum and Arkham City being my favorite games of the last console generation. If you've played those and enjoyed those you'll have a lot of fun with this game. And if you haven't played those two games, then definitely try and play them before you play Arkham Knight or you will have trouble following the story. (Arkham Origins is worth playing as well, but not really necessary for story purposes).

The gameplay can be divided into three different aspects: combat, predator mode, and Batmobile. Combat and predator mode are what have made this series shine for me and neither of those have changed too much. The big change to combat is the addition of team battles where you are fighting with one either Catwoman, Robin, or Nightwing and can switch back and forth freely between the two. This is a great addition that works especially well with Catwoman since in her battles each character can only affect certain enemies and you need to constantly switch back and forth to be effective. The main problem with the team combat is that it's just not used much and you'll spend most of your time alone with Batman. Hopefully in the future some DLC is released where this is used more.

Predator mode has remained largely unchanged. You're hiding in the shadows and taking people out one by one while trying to remain undetected. The big change is the Fear multi-takedown ability which allows you to sneak up behind a group of enemies and take out up to three of them at a time. (This can be upgraded to a maximum of five). This may sound like it'd make predator mode too easy, but the predator maps tend to have more people in this series and the ability has to be recharged by performing silent takedowns, so there's still a good bit of challenge to be had.

The Batmobile is the biggest (and most controversial) addition to this game and this is the main reason I felt like the game doesn't deserve a perfect score. The Batmobile is used for three purposes, races or pursuing villains, head on battles with drones, and stealth battles with Cobra drones. Battling drones is the main thing you'll do in the Batmobile and while it is very fun in short bursts, it's not quite as fun as hand to hand combat and there's not really a whole lot of variety to the fights. The main problem with the Batmobile is there are a lot of these fights, especially if you do the side missions, and they can get tedious. By the end of the game I was glad I didn't have to do any more. Racing and chasing people was fun as well and there was a good amount of these missions so that I didn't find myself getting tired. The biggest problem with that is the controls are set up differently from most racing games and the Batmobile sometimes handles like you're driving on ice, but I got used to both of those fairly quickly. The stealth battles with the Cobra tanks were by far the worst part of using the Batmobile. Cobra tanks are too powerful to take on head on, so you have to try and get behind them and take them out from behind. It's kind of like a predator mode for the Batmobile except there's only one way to take down enemies. It starts off boring and doesn't change much from there. Luckily there's only a handful of these missions throughout the game, even including the side content.

Two other minor problems I had were the bosses and the challenge maps. Bosses have never been a particularly strong point of this series, but there's always been a couple of boss fights in each game I really enjoyed. I can't quite say the same for this one. None of the boss fights were really that fun or unique and a couple of major bosses were done as stealth tank battles when really the characters in question should have been able to face off with Batman hand to hand and been a threat. The challenge maps were somewhat lacking in this game compared to other entries in the series and there's too much focus on vehicular challenges with well over 50% of them using the Batmobile. And I was also disappointed by the lack of ability to tackle the challenges with other characters. Hopefully more combat and predator maps get added in future DLC and hopefully they allow you to use other characters.

Overall, this is a fine addition to the Arkham franchise and a nice end to the series. It's not quite as good as Arkham Asylum or Arkham City, but it still kept me glued to the console until I finished.

Side missions are brilliantly varied and balanced. I didn't even mind the odd tank battle side quest. But why oh WHY did Rocksteady decide that almost every meaningful supervillian encounter will be decided by a flipping tank battle?!
Arkham Asylam, City (especially) and even Origins proved how creative and exhilarating boss encounters could be, yet it is nigh on no existent. Every time I got my hopes up of a great boss encounter, I was faced with yet ANOTHER, more tedious than the last tank battle...even worse - STEALTH tank battle!
This gradually ebbed away at the fun in this game for me, leaving me slightly underwhelmed by the experience after loving all the previous games so much. I don't live for just the boss fights, but enjoyed them so much in the last games that I had high expectations that were treacherously dashed.
Still a great game on so many levels, but Why Rocksteady, Why?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If this is the final game in the acclaimed arkham franchise, I can say the series will not go out on a sour note. It offers fun, entertaining, varied gameplay, a story which is more about character drama and relationships more than previous arkham games, and great visuals and animations.

The story centers around batman saving a deserted Gotham from scarecrow and his accomplice, the new villain on the block: the arkham knight. It sounds simple yes, but paired with the amazing performances of actors such as Kevin conroy, Jonathan banks, and John Noble, many plot twists, and the character development and drama that goes on in between segments of bashing thug's heads in, makes it a hell of a ride. While the arkham Knights true identity is a letdown, and comic book fans will know miles away, it has plenty of other surprises in store, and a final act which made me cry tears of joy as they did the establishing shot. Overall, I enjoyed the main story.

Peppered throughout the huge open world are many side quests to participate in. The "most wanted" jobs consist of you taking out some of gotham's worst, and foiling their schemes. Included are two-face, whose goal is to rob banks, penguin, whose gun shipments must be destroyed, and of course the riddler, who has his ever presence all over the hub with his precious green trophies. One spoiler I am going to include is that deathstroke is in the game, and wants revenge after the events of arkham origins. I was excited, for he was the highlight of that game for me. I expected his boss fight to be arkham origins 5x, But nope, just a tank battle. One spoiler that I am not going to include, is my favorite most wanted mission, which finds batman tracking bodies to a mysterious serial killer, and one of bat man's wackiest foes. That was a better boss battle than deathstroke's. Overall though, these side missions offered much variety and a good 10+ hours of gameplay after the main story.

The gameplay is as good as ever in this one. It consists of the usuals, beating up thugs with epic free flow combat, gliding around the city from above, and (my favorite part of arkham games) the stealthy predator encounters. Combat is a highlight, introducing many different enemy types and gadgets. Predator on the other hand, falls just short for me in arkham knight. Most of the encounters take place outside, taking away the claustrophobic, enclosed sections that the other games had. The huge new feature though (which you know from the trailers) is the ability to drive the batmobile. I found driving the thing immensely fun, speeding after thugs and militia is extremely entertaining. Tank combat on the other hand. These tank encounters are way too many throughout the game, not to mention they got boring fast after the first 5 or so. The good thing though is that this adds more variety to the gameplay.

For me, batman: arkham knight is the second best arkham game (the first being asylum.) I had a blast the whole trip, and it is a perfect conclusion for rocksteady's epic arkham trilogy. 8/10

Where the game lacks at is the overuse of the Batmobile and a bit of lack in the story. Some parts of the game overuse the Batmobile in mission and can kind of get very tedious, but don't get me wrong because the Batmobile is still a very fun tool to use sometimes. The only part in the story that left me disappointed in was the super predictiable twist, I won't spoil anything though. Once you look past those minor things, Arkham Knight is such a fun game to go around and explore in now with it's huge map and with it's breath-taking graphics! The combat is the best combat in an Arkham game yet by bringing in new ways to battle. In conclusion, Batman: Arkham Knight is a great way to end the franchise and beats the god awful Batman: Arkham Orgins and slightly beats Batman: Arkham Aslyum. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Note: my actual rating for this one would probably be around 7.7

First thing's first, the aspect that practically makes or breaks the game for you. The Batmobile. I myself share a love-hate relationship with it. Let me put it this way, the Batmobile, as a gameplay aspect, is pretty damn cool. Racing through Gotham in the fast paced crime chasing vehicle through an open world. However, as cool as it is, it's undeniably shoved down your throat. To clarify, the Batmobile is a mode of transport, so why the hell am I using it for everything else as well? Quest, puzzles, indoors, outdoors, boss battles. Eventually, it got to the point where I found myself avoiding use of the batmobile as much as possible because I just wanted to be Batman. Not to mention, the tank drones and helicopters are gathered in hordes to force the player to be use the batmobile more often. Not only is that annoying in terms of taking choice away from the player, it's annoying in that it takes away the essence of being Batman, the master strategist, hand to hand master, with a utility belt full of awesome crap, who always wins via his wit.
Really, that's what the Arkham games thrived on, capturing the essence of being the feared Dark knight.
    Does this game do that?
When you're playing as Batman, yes, since not much has changed in terms of Batman's gameplay, I'll list the changes that really stuck out. The new Fear Multi Takedown REALLY captures that feeling of being Batman, jumping out of nowhere to take out one crook then taking out the other while he's still too shocked to attack.
In terms of writing and what not, Batman is very much himself, breaking bones, solving mysteries with high tech, pushing onward no matter how bad the odds are.
In terms of the sidequests, I was taken by surprise by a lot of the villains. Notably Man-Bat, and Pyg were ones I didn't expect. Nightwing showing up was great too, though he didn't really get enough of a role as he should. Honestly, a lot of characters you'd hope would be in there were either absent or just plain cameos.
    As for the graphics, awesome.
As for the boss battles, horrid.
As for the story... as a comic book fan, let me put it this way, for the most part it's damn good, but it felt tainted by ghost-writing from Jeph loeb.
Notably, there are parts where everything just feels... forced. Batman neutralizing the blast, seemingly giving his life, only for the batmobile to save him at the last second. The situation where the cowl is removed is the exact kind of situation where Batman is known for turning the tide last second. Arkham Knight's identity being obvious, he's basically just saying everything he said AFTER he was revealed to be Red Hood in the comics . In fact, now that I think about it. The Arkham Knight himself was pretty much unnecessary to the story, except to shoehorn in a more powerful foe. Especially considering the highlights of the original Knightfall arc were what happened AFTER the Bat was broken, with the then new criminal Bane, and Bruce's replacement going murderous. The most entertaining parts of the story are against Scarecrow, who made for quite the antagonist on his own. I also loved Joker in this one, even from the grave still managing to cause chaos and torment everyone

In the end, the game could have easily been a 9 for me, ironically though, a lot of Arkham Knight's flaws came not from what it didn't do, but what it did. The Batmobile may have been awesome, but there were times where I wanted to be Batman, the militia may have been formidable, but they not only took away exploration, but in doing so took away the player's ability to be a fearsome creature of the night by limiting the number of ways to tackle the situation. There is a sidequest to lessen the militia presence, however, so it really depends on how willing you are to do said sidequest.
Again, Arkham Knight is a great game, but there is a lot of crap you have to be willing to tolerate in order to get to the parts that make it great.

Batman: Arkham Knight is the best looking game in the series so far, and includes a lot of cool stuff for fans of Batman. But at the same time it’s starting to feel like Rocksteady is almost too comfortable. It lacks new content, except the pretty bad designed Batmobile parts. If you haven’t played the previous games that much you will probably think that this is one of the best games this year.
