I understand what people say about it feeling less like an assassin game because particularly as you level up, you find you have to fight your way through places and it becomes less stealth and more a fighting game.

The weapons and armor are fun but i would have liked a bit more variety in gear.

Pegasus was a much needed add on to make travelling by horse much more accessible.

Hunting down the Cult members was always fun and discovering secret areas and the sea exploration and ship battles reminded me of Black Flag, which was great.

I think this game is far better than Origins and is maybe even my favourite AC to date. I'd definitely recommend the game.

The only thing that was better in Black Flag than Odyssey was the sea battles, due to having cannons and mortars rather than arrows and spears, but the naval battles in Odyssey are still a lot of fun.

If you're an AC fan then I highly recommend this game.

Repetitive quests: go there do something simple, come back. Go further, do the same, come back from further. You will lose the motivation to explore the whole map.
Main story is boring and not interesting if you compare with previous games. There was so much potential in the Spartan-Athens times and they just wasted the opportunity to create a good game. This is just a bog DLC of Origins

Odyssey builds further upon everything that origins did right about makes it better. Other than a few minor hiccups that are to be expected of a assassins creed game. This game went well above my expectations. I loved origins. But for some reason decided to skip out on odyssey, I had no rime or reason to not want to play it but for some reason, I just decided not too, but the Ubisoft sale was on PS4 and I got the gold edition for $40, and boy have I been missing out. I will list to you the pros of this game for me and then the cons.

Pros- The game world is HUGE, absolutely **** massive, and the amount of things to do in it are ridiculously varied. Quests everywhere, Merc’s Hunting you down, forts to clear out and loot, cultists to identify and kill, naval battles to be had, conquest battles (which are like mini war zone areas) choosing to fight for Athens or Sparta, upgrading your spear, your ship, your armor and everything in between. Wacky side quests, romance, and everything in between that. The armor/weapon system in this game takes it the diablo way allowing you to transmogify any armor or weapon style that’s youve found before and boy is there ALOT of Styles you can mix and match. The new addition to add in “superpower”esk abilities is also great fun. The classic spartan kick that can send enemies FLYING and is ridiculously satisfying, summoning a ring of chaos that’s basically a whirlwind that sucks up and pushes enemies away from you. There are tons and tons of different skills to mix and match to fit your play style and you can have 8 equipped (12 if you count the archer abilities). The world is pretty god damn good looking it’s hard not to be impressed every time you synchronize a view point. Combat is fast and fluid and just challenging enough to keep you on your toes. Also each quest you do, almost anything you do will tell you what the rewards are for that specific mission/side mission/merc/cultist so you always know what you are getting. Naval battles are few and far apart but anytime you feel like you miss the high sea you can hunt down pirate ships, board them kill everyone and steal their treasure...or if you’re feeling merciful you can knock out almost any enemy in the game and hire them to be a lieutenant aboard your ship. Almost every time I do a mission I find something better than what I had before, you get a sense of always improving, always moving forward not once have I felt like I was stuck because of my gear or felt I was ill equipped, if you feel that way and some how DONT get any new gear from playing the game. Black smiths in the game will level up your weapons and armor to your current level so if you found a level 11 sword and find yourself at level 18 now and for some reason can’t find anything new and better. Head on over to a blacksmith to bring up your 213 damage sword to a 534 damage sword....for a few dracmae of course.

Cons- the biggest complaint i have is the facial animations...rather just when they speak it can go from being ALRIGHT, to just god damn awful, I don’t know if Ubisoft heard of facial scan technology or not but I think it’s about time they invest in it. Another thing involving animation is the whole...weapons during a “kill cam” type situation where you execute someone or whatever is still kinda... ok, it really feels like your sword is going through a hollow enemy or something... it’s just not THAT satisfying. Don’t get me wrong it is better than what it used to be but if they Invested in some really solid decapitation style animations like the Witcher 3 did...this game would probably too 5 RPG games I’ve ever played. Moving on... for some strange reason if I get into a fight in a city or small village and I’m fighting guards or a merc, the citizens, the dogs the cows the cats and everything in between will also try and kill me for whatever reason? I’ve had a fight with a merc in a small town and the chicken across the road decided to jump in on the fight and try to kill me for whatever reason.

Which brings me to my final point about all the fools complaining about microtrans, grow up. I have not spent a PENNY in the store and am getting along just fine. There are ALWAYS thing to do at your current level and all of them varied, you don’t need the XP booster or anything like that. If anything right now, Im a level or 2 OVER the recommended for the story missions. They don’t force you to buy anything. It is on the main menu of the game but unless you have the attention span of a squirrel or have the resolve of a heroin addict you can go through the game without opening that menu once. And either way all those items are obtainable IN GAME you don’t have to spend a penny to get the items you see in that store in the game. Of course they are more challenging to get but they made it fun by making you participate in daily and weekly quests.

As others have said - if you like AC Origins, you will love Odyssey. I'm happy with the switch to RPG format. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. This game is well-made (mostly), grand in scale and thoroughly entertaining for hours on end.

AC Odyssey has only one glaring drawback in my opinion. In contrast to Origins, the melee combat in Odyssey is subpar. And since melee combat may be the overriding component of one's play style, I considered scoring this one 9 out of 10. However, I feel this game deserves a 10 because everything aside from melee combat is class. Plus, if you're accurately spec'd for ranged combat and good with the bow, you can easily one or two-shot literally every non-boss enemy type in HARD mode - including mercenaries - using basic arrows. Therefore, making melee combat redundant. Moreover, the mechanics of ranged combat in Odyssey are vastly improved over Origins.

At no point during my tens of hours of play was I interrupted by, forced to or felt the need to invest in a micro-transaction of any sort. All micro-transactions in AC Odyssey are neatly tucked away in a side menu - out of sight.

It may or may not be true that one can't simply play through the main questline while ignoring side activities, due to alleged hurdles in levelling. I wouldn't know because I did a heck of a lot of side activities throughout. There are many different kinds of level-boosting side activities in AC Odyssey. Yes, the daily/weekly side quests posted on billboards are mostly monotonous. But, there are other side quests scattered throughout the world that play out similarly to those in Witcher 3. There is a lot to do in this game - moreso than in Origins. Nonetheless, I understand that some players may not have time for side activities.

I personally love just picking a direction once the game loads and taking on any challenges I come across as I run, so this game rewards that kind of play in spades, as they have any number of locations such as forts, camps, ruins, and even the mansions of a country's leader that you can come across.

The combat is extremely fun with the abilities you unlock as you level up. You can assign up to 8 melee and 4 ranged into your hot bars and use them as you build up adrenaline through combat. You can taylor your character to suit your play style via 3 different styles of combat be it ranged/bows, melee weapons from quick daggers to slower swords or spears to heavy maces and axes, or you can go stealthy and play as the original Assassin archetype. The abilities are augmented by weapons and armors that you can pick up throughout the game that have stats that help boost various combat stats.

Character progression is cool at the surface, but it still feels a bit limited in the actual depth that you can advance. The mastery option they patched in later definitely adds some depth to it, but I'd like to see them split out from just 3 trees and maybe have a tree for each weapon type.

The story overall is good. It's not great, but it definitely is good enough to keep you engaged as you travel across Ancient Greece. The voice acting is pretty good in the main story bits, but on the random quests that are just there for extra experience as you take out locations, it's pretty mundane.

Many of the regions also have their own quest line that tells its own self contained story, and i think that is great. In fact I wish more open world games would give up trying to tell one giant narrative and focus on doing this approach.

However, one of the things that I think they struggle with, is the fact that they try to do TOO much at once in one game. Starting with the Story. There isn't just one main story line of quests, but 2 or 3 going on at once.

You also are dealing with 3 primary game play systems as well. You have the normal "on the ground" game where you go and fight enemies/targets and gain the spoils of said victories to advance. Or you can hop on a ship and spend almost all of your time on there, fighting your target(s) of choice on the open waters and even advance and customize your ship as you go with the spoils of defeated enemy ships. Or you can go and pick a side in the conflict between the Athenians and Spartans and involve yourself in their large scale battles. The problem is, if you just want to focus on just one of those systems, you are sometimes forced to participate in other ones to advance the story, which you have to do as some abilities/unlocks only happen at certain points in the story.

Overall, this is one of my favorite games of 2018. However, I do need to stress that I'm a huge fan of Open World games, so this is purely based on that. If you need a more focused experience, this game will actually have the opposite effect as they really do have an issue with staying focused to the point that even I wasn't head over heals about.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a complicated game. It has many things about it that are great. It also has many common problems. This game may be one of my most complicated of all times. I have nearly 60 hours on this game and I can't decide if it is good or bad, so I go with mixed.

This is the first Assassin’s Creed game to be more RPG like, where you choose who you play as, what kind of gear they wear, and what choices they make (some greatly affect the game more than others). It has reduced present day (probably makes up around 35 minutes of screentime for the average player), supernatural and powerful items, clothing and weapons with different abilities and traits and a vast open world with tons of stuff to do. The final part is where the game shines, but also where it is at its most issues.

It starts out mostly good, where you get to choose your character after playing as the legendary Leonidas where you build up your character. Then after some hard choices and three hours of gameplay, you get your ship where you can explore anywhere that is around your level. Then you are sent to a few islands where you have to do a few side quests and more choices. Then go to another land with more side quests and a few story. Then more and more stuff etc. It gets kind of repetitive though still a little fun. Etc. etc. But in the later game, the repetitive stuff feels much less fun and like a total grind. Only when you reach a certain level, does you feel really powerful, like you can defeat all these guys and beat the game! You have three main Odysseys to complete that they put a lot of work into. But after beating all 3 of them, it doesn't feel totally satisfying as it should, but more rewarding than not.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey has many strengths and weaknesses. The strengths revolve around its open world, great graphics, character design, etc. The weaknesses are the stuff in it that is just too much and makes the game much more long than it needs to be. The other biggest problem is Microtransactions, which just shouldn't be in any single-player game! Just too much stuff!! (which is funny since many games are too short, this game is too long). I had fun playing this but would prefer less grinding and to return to its roots.

However Odyssey does it right. Nothing is needed to win the game, its just added for people who want a fast progress. Basicly a cheat-tool for hasty people. I never once came across a point of lacking ingredients to upgrade or build anything. So for those who seek a answer to the question: "Is it worth buying AC Odyssey?", let me make something clear. This is one of the greatest open world games out there atm. with a compelling story playing in ancient Greece. Its defenitely worth the money!

And one more word to those finding it tedious to advance in the story:
It seems youve never played a AC before.
Yes Odyssey requires a lot more than the games before, but its also far greater and bigger and has so much more to show, what kind of player goes into an open world without swaying away into on or the other sidequest or dungeon?!

No other game besides maybe skyrim gave me this much gameplay time and still felt natural and not too repetitive. Im currently at 70 Hours game time and still not finished.
I can really recommend this game to anybody interested in open world games and astonishing story and game play.

The only downside i found in this game was extremely long travel times. As the Map is this huge, it kinda is tedious to travel to places that dont have a quicktravel option. And the other one is orichalcum being super rare and the mission kinda bad for it, and unlike Origins you cant use your endgame money you dont need anymore to buy the chests that give you purple or legendary items.

With that being said, it is visually appealing but there are issues that will make this game, not for everyone.

The graphics are one thing but another thing I felt a bit overwhelming was the sheer size of everything. Don’t get me wrong, having a vast open world is nice but here it just felt too big. There is too much to do and while some might consider that a plus, the issue is that the quests that you’re given just don’t feel that different enough. At first, it’s not too bad. It’s simple enough but after about 25 or so hours, it gets really repetitive with the same tasks, the main story missions end up feeling very similar and while there are a few good distractions and some of the side quests, while similar to the main story in term of how they’re put together and the tasks they do but some of them were entertaining.

The gameplay is fun but it gets old, due to the copy and paste nature of the missions. Pretty much it comes down to either, raiding a base, engaging in a skirmish or killing certain targets. There is some flexibility with how things are done and while I get it, it is an Assassin’s Creed game it just felt like there just wasn’t enough variety. The Witcher 3 this is not.

On PS4 pro it played fine, about 30 FPS without any major hiccups that I could see. Looks great in HDR and is truly a game worth getting if you love pretty graphics. On the other hand, there is a bit of loading when you first start the game. Nothing too bad. Less then a minute I think. After that, the game loads pretty briskly, there is brief loading when you talk to an NPC but it’s not a deal breaker at all. Sometimes the game glitches out. Textures won’t load sometimes and there is a bit of pop in. Sometimes the NPC’s you’re supposed to follow just don’t do what they’re supposed to do. That just requires a quick restart of the game. Annoying but not a huge problem.

The main issue is the pacing. The game is just too long for its own good. Realistically, it should’ve ended at the 20-hour mark and then keep it going with side content. The plot just drags on. It starts off fine enough, it’s interesting and until you get to about 20-25 hours in and then it just seems to drag its feet. Don’t get me wrong, it is an interesting story, but the pacing killed it. Throw that in with a lack of variety in the story and you pretty much see everything that there is by about 20 hours in. Another problem is it’s grind heavy. Even with the exp booster microtransaction and playing on Easy mode it becomes a grind fest. To grind the best way is to do side quests but they just become so boring and monotonous you probably won’t want to.

Due to the pacing issues with the main story and the grind-heavy nature of it and that you almost need to purchase a microtransaction just to have an edge in the grinding and even THEN it becomes very grind heavy and too repetitive I couldn’t bring myself to finish it. These things could easily be fixed in an update but right now? I don’t really recommend it. It could’ve been amazing but with some tweaks to the story’s structure, make grinding less of a chore and having more variety, it could’ve easily been one of the best historical RPG’s in recent years.

Is it horrible? No, and it does have an audience. If you tend to like your games to be a bit more structured and like your narratives to not drag on though, it’s not for you.

If you’re the type that only likes to buy a few games a year and wants a game that will last you and don’t mind repetitive missions and content, give it a go. It’ll probably be what you like.

Other than that, I personally didn’t like how much it dragged on, especially after the 20-hour mark.

The Greek setting is incredible: recreating a compact version of the whole Greece with most of its islands with such accuracy and detail is a 10/10 job by itself. I think there is still place for a third game in this style (maybe by continuing the Classic trilogy by exploring ancient Rome and recreating all the Italian peninsula?), but after that they will seriously have to start looking for a new system and, most importantly, new settings. It was a blast at first, but quickly turned into a slog as I realized the game had nothing more to offer than the same thing again and again. I liked the story line and was genuinely intrigued by some truly inspired side quests. But I just couldn't justify continuing out the game when it's core mechanics had so quickly gone stale. Ubisoft has clearly grown in the their storytelling. I can only hope they'll one day be able to make the gameplay in this series just as interesting. Expand

Having played every console released Assassin's creed to date, its so frustrating to see Ubisoft continue to ruin the franchise with sub-par games that quite frankly make a mockery of established lore (whether you care about that stuff is up to you of course) and take the franchise in wild new directions that just don't work.

I'm on the fence as to whether the RPG transformation of the series is a good thing as it was done well in Origins and breathed new life into the series, but in this installment it's been dumbed down massively.

    Positives:

Beautiful and enormous game world with vibrant locations. One of the best looking AC games to date, if nothing else the game looks stunning. (this is honestly all i can think of to praise the game)

    Negatives:

You will notice from the get-go that animations are a weak point. Facial animation looks unnatural and reminds me a lot of Mass Effect: Andromeda (not quite as bad albeit) but you cant see any emotion in characters faces, they just seem to contort their faces in strange ways to attempt to convey emotion, the same with boy language. Just looks lazy. How is it that prev gen games like Mass Effect 1,2,3 could nail animations so well and recent games with arguably better tech do worse???? You'll also notice that walking and running looks weird, as if you're gliding and the horse animations are jittery.

Voice acting is terrible across the board, almost comical caricature performances. Look at RDR2 for example or the newest God of War, and compare the two. Leagues apart.

The story is messy and has nothing really to do with the original overarching templars v assassins + isu narrative. Ubisoft are just retconning bits in to justify making the game in the first place. You wont care about any of the characters or story in general by the end. To put it simply, boring.

Side quests are repetitive and boring, go there, kill this person/s, loot this chest and repeat. The game world is massive and filled with quests yes, but when you actually look at the content offered, its devoid of any substance. It's all very forgettable. It's just put there to pad the game out and 'fatten it up', to make it seem as if you're presented with a rich interesting world.

The audio is weird in places. Dialogue between characters is glitchy and the voice actors lines often interrupt eachother as if they are out of sync. Clearly shows how the game was rushed (which seems to be a common theme as you play through it).

Loading times are way too frequent, the game often cuts to black screens to load cutscenes or dialogue and it breaks the immersion of the game, this will try your patience. Loading times after death are annoying.

    Overall polish:

****The game is full of game breaking glitches and it will frequently crash****

This is incredibly frustrating and will try your patience, you have been warned.
For example, a quest that i need to finish in order to complete the story is broken, so i cant even complete the game. There are numerous other examples you can find online from players saying the same. It's clear this game was rushed and you'll see that as you play the game, from its distinct lack of overall polish in any area.

To conclude i would simply say, avoid this game. It's incredibly disappointing, lacks technical polish, is poorly constructed and feels like an absolute chore to play.

This is a beautiful game. Worthy of the Assassins Creed franchise. But I have to ask... why can't I clear a location, despite killing everyone, and pillaging everything? Why cant I kill a level 13 pig, when I'm at level 16, with enhanced "legendary" gear? I ask... why put out a fabulous game, with such issues? This is an incredible game, with much-needed updates.

It's so expansive and you actually feel like a core part of the world. I'm far more tempted to explore and do all of the side activities than I have been for any of the other games in the franchise. Previously, the AC series has struggled to compel you to do anything other than the main story but no longer. You're having unique interactions with all NPCs, some have even heard of your legend already. There are a wide variety of unique activities such as conquests, naval battles, clearing forts, exploring ruins and caves, obtaining items from bodies that may seamlessly give you a clue about something else you can capitalise on for a reward (information such as bounty locations etc.) and an even wider variety of side quests.

The nightmare mode is also a nice addition if a little grueling, sometimes. While the challenge encourages you to navigate situations in different, fun and interesting ways - perhaps drawing one ship away from its 'fleet' in order to sink it, lest you get bombarded by 3 ships: which you WILL lose (skill plays a part I guess, but you can't be a one-person army in this mode) - it's also quite frustrating to constantly be cycling your gear around and trading equipment that you like for a garbage but higher level (and therefore has a higher dps/defence stat) item. If you don't do this, you'll be at a severe disadvantage when it comes to combat because all enemies scale in their leveling with you. You can upgrade, but the only way you're going to be able to get the huge amount of resources and money in order to be able to upgrade the better gear is by doing activities which will demand that you engage in combat in some form. And with sub-par gear in nightmare mode, you're not going to come out on top. It just costs (in terms of money and resources) a little too much to maintain your gear's usefulness.

But that's a small nitpick in an otherwise incredibly rewarding Assassin's Creed entry.

So when I first started ACOdyssey, I hated the game. Clunky parkour, bad combat, messy stealth, all of which appeared to be a substantial downgrade from ACOrigins. But after about 50+hours spent, I've changed my mind quite a lot. The game grows on you. Parkour, combat and stealth are still not very good I think, but the game makes up for it by having a great story and good character-building.

The game doesn't require microtransactions at all. I don't understand where this criticism comes from. You don't have to pay anything at all to level up or buy resources. The game provides them all, if you pace yourself and don't rush through the game. It is called ODYSSEY; it is supposed to be a very long and very big adventure. The best way to play this is not to grind, or rush, but maybe play a little bit (1-2 quests per day) everyday for weeks, or months. Grinding through will not be enjoyable, so think of this like a long novel to be read a little bit everyday and attain long-term immersion in the story. I don't have evidence on this, but I think the game is programmed to stop giving you interesting side quests after a certain amount of daily play. This is probably added as a hidden feature to prevent people from over-playing daily; but as I said, this is just a feeling and I don't have evidence on this.

I still dislike the game's combat, especially given how the series got it very right with ACBlackFlag. Why mess it up when you had near-ideal combat mechanics? Also, AC series is all about parkour and stealth. Both are sub-par in the game. This is probably because the map is so large that the only way to provide a uniform experience was to dumb down combat, parkour and stealth.

Another accurate criticism is the fact that the game contains very small portion of AC features. There is quite minimal linkage to the wider AC story line and the game doesn't feel like an AC game. Rather, this is the story of a dude and dudette having a fun adventure in the Greek islands with very little relevance to AC as a whole.

Overall, I think the game is good, deserves the time you invest in it and great holiday-season game to get lost in. Big world, lots to do and overall fun if you pace yourself and not rush through a fun experience.

The experience boost in the store is unnecessary. I didn't have it and didn't miss it. The quests are pretty good and interesting enough for leveling, and the locations in which you do them or which you explore are pretty. I have at no moment needed to grind.

Some of the locales are really beautiful too. Found myself playing with the photo mode as well quite often. They also added historical information about the places you visit, which makes exploring interesting as well.

Giving it a 10, because a 5.8 is really not justified. Game deserves an 8 at least.

There is a LOT to do

This is the first Assassin's Creed game I have bought in a long time. I found the other ones repetitive and eventually boring. Decided to give Odyssey a chance. Game play was good, graphics were good and the story was good. None of that was a problem. However on principle alone I returned the game. Upon completion of Chapter 2, you are supposed to receive 200 free Helix credits. This is actually a very, very, very, very small amount. Its literally worthless in their store. I don't particularly care about the credits. I couldn't have done anything with them anyways, which is fine. It's free and its value is inconsequential. What I have a problem with, is that I never received the credits. No big deal, I figure just contact support and I'll get the credits back. I figure, surely they aren't going to care about $2.50 of imaginary currency, for imaginary products in an imaginary world. Nope, they sure as heck do. They care so much that even when I told them I would return the game if I wasn't given the same product as other customers that paid the same amount, they still said THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT. Like the helix credits are locked in some freaking safe, with a key that someone threw away upon completion of construction of said safe. That is insane to me, that a company that received probably at least $30 in PURE PROFIT from me, is willing to lose that business for $2.50 of imaginary currency. I will never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever buy another ubisoft product again. If they gain completely control over the worlds water sources, and in order to survive I have to purchase anything from them, I will die before I give them another dime. Go eat a huge phallic shaped object Ubisoft.

**Disclaimer, this isn't against the representatives involved. This is an issue with the company they work for. The random customer service agent isn't going to have any control over this issue, and again I understand it is not one persons fault at the company.**

Actually the main quest is the most disappointing thing of the game in my opinion, lacking a real strong and emotional scenario. A beautiful game, thanks to the Ubisoft Montreal team! Expand

It's not fun skill based combat but rather grinding till you get the right gear or are many levels above the creature.

At the end of the day, the progress through the story feels more like a grind than an adventure. The game itself is beautiful and at times comes close to being gratifying but falls short every time. This can be exemplified by how awesome it is just jump off synchronization points until you've done it 348 times because the map is too large and the quests are too disjointed. It's a chore to play through and the combat forces you into specific playstyles that are even then not-skill intensive.

I cannot recommend and it would take me a lot of convincing to play another Assassins Creed game...

It's just like AC Origins except with a greek aesthetic. The animations look quite bad, the horse keeps on the ground like a magnet, sometimes you execute the air instead of an enemy, etc, etc.
Now this wouldnt bother me that much because we are all used to it by now as every AC game is the same nowadays buuuuut....

In this game, the concept of "brotherhood" is almost forgotten, there are no blades and especially hoods here, stealth has completely degraded, during the hidden murder our hero instead of graceful movements shoves an enema into the enemy, it's just ridiculous, I understand the indignation of fans of this series, which partly I am also.Ubisoft has a brand: Assassin's Creed, so they are trying to squeeze all the money out of it that can be deflated. The ancestor's DNA in the new part was “damaged”, because we can choose its gender, and also independently choose the development of its history, what I do not fully understand. Is the essence of the game not to KNOW the story of the ancestor, and not to change it? I think it will soon be possible to choose not only gender, but also race, gender, sexual orientation, isn't it? After all, everyone understands that you want this, come on.
The combat mechanics have changed, and for the better, but still it is wooden, slow and inconvenient, and besides, it is not spectacular, have you really not seen the mechanics of Bloodborne or Dark Souls? God Of War, Spiderman after all. In terms of plot, I am ready to applaud the developers, thank you so much that the series has somehow moved a little. In the new part of the plot is not, we just play for a hero who is interested in this life only money, Clint Eastwood from the world of games. The game also has a large number of historical figures, the game is making attempts to enlighten you, descriptions of various architectural monuments, palaces and theaters have been added to the game. But from the changes I saw little of what was new, only the graphic component changes in the game, and this is great, the game is very beautiful in truth, the spirit and beauties of Ancient Greece are transmitted fantastically, I am pleased with it.

This generation of youngsters are incredibly low IQ. You must really be a sucker for graphics....Blows my mind!!! This open world standard needs to be killed AND KILLED NOW!!!

The game once again suffers from gated story missions and other content. Anyone can see this was done to increase grind and get people to pay for XP boosters and what not. They tried to rip of Witcher 3 with this new AC style but failed to capture the magic. The side missions get boring very fast. It's the usual Ubisoft formula where you just clear out nameless enemies a 100 times in each region. I never finished Origins because I got bored of this. Luckily I just rented this game to try out before buy. Looks like AC is finished. They should have just created a new IP for this and Origins because it's certainly not AC anymore. Graphics are great though and the architecture as AC games are known for. Sadly, this game is for people who have 200 hours to grind on pointless side missions so they can get to the levels needed to progress in the game. The last decent AC game was Rogue it seems. Expand

Back in 2007 when I first played Assassins Creed I was drawn to the interesting world but was quickly bored with the lack of unique things to do in the game. Now 11 years later that problem is gone.

I am about 37 hours into the game at this point and have not finished it but I cannot put it down. Assassin Creed Odyssey is not perfect in anyway but that’s almost what I like about it. I think of Odyssey like a Jack-of-all-Trades, but a master of none. It’s not the best RPG, it doesn’t have the best stealth, or even good combat. Its story is rather simple and there are only a few characters really worth mentioning. But I like that it has all of these elements and that they work well together.

I do really enjoy the game so far and I plan on getting the platinum trophy on the PS4. That’s a claim for only a few games I own. Assassins Creed Odyssey is really fun to play. And I really love that it gave me a new curse word. Malaka, which I guess, is like calling someone an **** But hell, I will always give a game bonus points for teaching me a new way to curse.

Now there is a pretty big issue I have with Assassins Creed Odyssey. As the name implies the game is about assassinations and stealth. Odyssey has 3 types of combat that break down to melee, bow, and assassinations. Melee and bow are pretty straightforward. They are not that elegant but you can mix the two together to make combat interesting and dynamic.

However, assassinations are a bit lackluster. There are only a few ways to assassinate someone and that is by sneaking up behind them, jumping down from above, or using an assassin’s ability. This can feel a bit repetitive which sucks because it’s really the best way to kill people in the game. Assassinations do so much damage that you can’t avoid it. That brings me to stealth because that is even worse.

The stealth in Assassins Creed Odyssey is literally just crouching in bushes. To become invisible you just crouch. The only additional option that you really have to mix it up is to hide in bushes. Hiding in the bushes make you completely invisible some times even to touch by the enemy. I wish they had added some variety to it like peeking around corners, pulling enemies from windows, etc. Because stealth and assassinations are so strong and easy I find myself just running around crouch stabbing people from enemy to enemy. This quickly feels like I am cheating the game a bit because it’s so simple and powerful.

If you get caught and break stealth then all you really need to do is run away. It’s that simple no matter what happens you can always run away and then re-stealth. There is one exception I found while in a Fort. If found, one of the enemies can light a signal fire which signals other soldiers and that can make it tricky to continue. I actually like this mechanic because it encourages true stealth and not gaming the system. I wish the transition from stealth to combat were harder to disengage. This would make getting caught more dramatic and dangerous.

My last gripe before I move onto a few more things I really like about he game is the climbing. All Assassins Creed games have this problem and I cannot believe it’s still the same old song and dance. The climbing is sporadic and hard to control. I tried to climb into a window for 2 minutes because Alexios (the male main character) kept jumping past it, then aside it, then back over it again. Alexios also will try and climb things while in combat when I didn’t mean it to happen. Yea, I probably suck but this should be a non-issue by now. This series has been out for 11 years!

That being said I really do love this game. The world is vast and the quests are plentiful. It never seems to get too repetitive either. There is just enough story mixed into the side quests to keep me interested without feeling bogged down with information and the progression system keeps me coming back for more. I want to complete some quest I just picked up because it will give me a piece of gear that I want; Or maybe it will put me over the edge in experience so I can get a new ability.

Graphics have never been better it's among few games of it's type to rival and in some cases out WOW you compared to the Witcher 3 . Story has it's good moments and the stealth options are more versatile compared to AC Origins, But there are a lot of negatives here.

First things you should do if you don't own the top of the line PC is to tone down the Cloud crap as you can't actually see it and even when it's not visible it makes heavy impact on performance, noticeable are poping of objects in scene bcs of some bad LODs and tessellation on some of textures (rocks on stair like vineyards). On ultra btw. Other bad thing here is that AA makes amazing textures blurry and you only have one AA mode.
As for the story it's way to dragged out by the size of the world , bigger is not better especially when quests and gameplay are so repetitive.
As for stealth option in it's RPG tree is the weakest of all as your F (assassinate) wont have the dmg to kill most of the things when you go deeper in the game. But detection range and the skills that help work around that are solid thou the last one should just buff the assassinate dmg not only at dark but in general as you need that if you want to play that path. Thou assassins did not exist at that time but you still do dmg with an artifact that should feel powerful in it's own!

Game has issues with grind if you dont keep your bounty between 2-3 and do some side quests you wont be able to progress in the story ! I had no issue like that as i did a lot of them early before i got sick of them.
Conversation option should not be in the game as it's game about history seams like they tried to pull to much from the Witcher I would be happier with more cut scenes then following the NPC to have one or two meaningless responses.

As for mercenary and naval i know that many say that was fun for them it was not for me they did not offer anything meaningful as a reward.

Another BS is that you have to hunt and gather like insane to upgrade your Legendary gear or it will become obsolete, and ''path'' to assassin dmg buffer one and archery are locked behind lv wall.

All in all solid but lacks a lot IMO smaller world of origins was better and more enjoyable this is a second entry into same style of gameplay they should have made better improvements and not add more unfinished options from other games that made those games great, current score that I see 5.1 is cutting it close to what this game is just above average.

The side stuff is rather solid, not as tedious as MMORPG stuff, but still a bit repetitive, they do have good introductions. There are more MMORPGish quests you pick up from bulletin boards though, but I managed to max level without doing a lot of these. There are some fun things to do like the mercenary stuff, good semi challenging fights. Some side quests have good storylines, and there are some good "boss" fights in a hunter and another legendary boss type challenge. I platinumed the game.

If you are looking for a RPG, I'll rate it a 6. Ubisoft has been selling it as a RPG but it does not deliver on this genre even though the game is definitely better than Origins. It is not enough to have (poor) dialogue choices and levels and XP to state you are a RPG. You do not feel that you are in control of your destiny. Your impact on the world is limited. You can win epic battles! But whether you win or loose these epic battles, it has no more impact than if you kill or not a wild boar in the wilderness... You just get loot. You can side with Athenians or Spartans but it does not matter. Nothing really matters...

I love the idea that AC would turn more into a RPG but then it needs to meet the RPG requirements not just pretend. And AC as a RPG is really far from the best games in this category. But as a typical AC game, action oriented, kudos to the team for delivering a fun and enjoyable game.

AC:Odyssey is boring and the more it tries to be a jack of all trades, the more it becomes clear that it's a master of none. I can't play this game for more than an hour because gameplay and quest design feels like a monotonous chore and the cut scenes and story are boring and uninspired.

I have to admit, I wasn't exactly blown away by Origins, despite overall enjoying the new direction the series started heading. But I had high hopes for Odyssey because it's for me more relatable setting. It seemed to have all the right ingredients, but the game just didn't click with me. It looks nice, controls are not the best in the series but manageable, but the story just didn't work with me, the characters were boring, plot uninspiring and to be hones, I couldn't even force myself to finish it. The bland locations, where you go only because it is marker on the map with possible loot and xp which you need both to grind in between story parts to be able to keep up with escalating level of enemies, was just dull and incredible boring. I honestly couldn't squeeze an ounce of joy out of it.
I might come to it back during Christmas and give it one more try, but after the 40 hours, the game didn't show me anything worth remembering and I have a feeling that after a year or two, I won't recall much more than it was in ancient Greece. And that's coming from a person who's gone through all previous instalments with platinum trophy.

This is probably my favourite game of 2018. It is definitely a case of more of the same after Origins but it does make minor changes that lead to a more enjoyable game.

Firstly Kassandra is fantastic, her voice acting is excellent and her character is fun and well written. When I had finished the game I even went back and did side missions just so I could see more of her. It is worth

When I had finished the game I even went back and did side missions just so I could see more of her. It is worth noting that Alexios is also an option but doesn't seem as well realised and lacks some of Kassandra's charm.

The game took me around 65 hrs to complete the multiple story threads (Family, Cult, Mercenaries and Atlantis) and I reached max level just before taking on the last cult members. I did not use any boosters and the microtransactions did not encroach on my enjoyment of the game at all. If you are willing to do a few side missions and want to finish the story you will have no problem avoiding paying for any boosters or gear.

Overall Odyssey is Origins in another setting and with a few new systems and improvements but It surprised me how much I ended up enjoying it.

I would not go so far as to call this game not worthwhile, it is still a fun action adventure game, but I ended up muting it and listening to podcasts about 30 hrs in. As I stated, the bloat made everything seem pointless. Expand

A Jogabilidade e razoável, porem varias vezes me achei jogando spiderman/The witcher...

The game is average, but way to many flaws and geared towards paying real money for progression. A lot of design mistakes, and it’s a pure grind. Destiny and Assassin s creed development teams must be spending a lot of time together...

The same Origins but with a lot more micro transactions!! Ubisoft motivates you to pay for not playing the game!! ( You can pay for passing through many long boring and repeated parts of the game). It's incredible that this game is nominated for GOTY 2018.

Like in Assassins creed origins Good story, the fighting is fun where you can do combos if you want, but this doesn’t feel like an Assassins creed game, the Assassin tree isn’t even that good and is useless most of the time. It’s the same style over and over and over and over again! Kill 2 captains, Free 2 prisoners, loot 3 chests, repeat, repeat, and this is stuff you have to do unless you want to buy “fast level” microtransactions to skip all the grinding. If you don’t do this, you probably will have a hard time doing for example the boat story missions. Even story mode is grinding, kill cultist, kill cultist, and next one and next one etc etc etc.
The game also tries to have a dialogue system like Witcher where the outcome is different based on what you choose in the dialogues, however the cutscenes and the dialogues seems kind of cheap and not well made. It tries but comes short.
UbiSoft made a milking cow with POPUPS of microtransactions. Maybe they are suffering?
Next time I have to be realy realy bored to buy another Assassin's Creed game...

In one word "Masterpiece" ! I'm someone who is very much into AC Universe be it games, novels or comics and this game delivers a highly indulging experience that will drive the player crazy with endless activities along with many sections to manage. It hosts countless RPG elements and Ubisoft did each of them right. Graphics are an eye candy and grinding for gears will be worth your time.In one word "Masterpiece" ! As for the story, the past one is highly descriptive and leaves zero plot holes also don't expect much on the modern day plot as Ubisoft limited it to comics.

I cared more for these characters and the world than I ever did in previous Assassin’s Creed games, and I think that’s part of why this reboot is so successful. Playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey left me feeling valiant and triumphant as I worked my way up the cultist food chain, and and I was always excited to see what Kassandra was off to discover next.

If someone had told me couple of years ago that Assassin’s Creed would become a full-fledged action RPG that would not look out of place on a shelf next to The Witcher 3, I would have snickered. But here I am, over 80 hours into Odyssey and still unable to believe that really happened. [12/2018, p.44]

It also commits a few of the same sins: in particular, the deluge of gar drops feels vaguely insulting, conditioning the player to lust after items exclusive to the in-game store. It's lifted, however, by the relative wit and intelligence of its quest design, and the delicate notes of uncertainty and curiosity introduced by Exploration mode. [Christmas 2018, p.108]
