    First of all, I'm not an avid fan of AC's franchise, this is my fifth AC games (Rogue, Black Flag, Syndicate, Valhalla and this one, yes I'm going backwards), and I sort of understand why everyone hating the new direction of their beloved franchise (like I dislike modern RE games except the remakes, well that does not include RE 3 Remake of course).

    However, as an avid stealth adventure game fan, of course AC games will always piqued my interest, and since I started the new AC from Valhalla, I personally believed this game is A LOT better than the successor (I'm playing Origins as I started writing this review).

    It has less repetitive rinse-repeat side quests (not counting the generic mercenary's board quest of course), it's more simple in terms of the combat (although the active skills is a bit bothersome to handle sometimes), better MC, and better story (main campaign).

    Minor gripes probably the same with many other open games as usual, less convenient fast travel point to the quest, and the ride/horse is just not as reliable as it can't cross a river (this is more like a nitpicking), and the amount you have to spend on your ship for a certain trophy, even though the ship is less important to the main campaign (you don't need to invest heavily).

    So for a neutral player point of view, I don't mind AC heading this direction, it's inevitable since they have to expand the universe, it's still a stealth and open game, with beautiful lore and historical place, try it, if you have the chance.

Odyssey latches on to the RPG elements Origins laid down, but takes it to greater heights. From the enriched Greek Isles, to the stories of mythical creatures and gods, Odyssey is much more immersed than its predecessor.

    One of the biggest features was the gender of the Canon Protagonist (As the opposite could also be chosen). Being female makes a headline in an ever changing landscape in games, while this is nothing new for this franchise, it has certainly cemented the modern standards of the genre. Gender besides though Odyssey has lived up to my expectation is many other ways.

    The vast open world and well detailed environments, have shone as its core features. Scaling the rock faces of forested cliff sides or that of the stone embodiment of Poseidon really stuck to the Assassin Creed roots. Though with the options of horseback and ship sailing, traversal felt better to combat yourself, rather than fast travel.

    Odyssey is very much an improvement over Origins, executing more in depth RPG options both in dialogue and actions. Though this was much a positive, to me the RPG influences as of late are creating a different sort of game. I enjoy RPG’s and while this is not native to the genre in terms of a personal custom character, it really carries that pride. However, from the hoarding of gear and levelling mechanics, to RPG branching story arcs, the core of what Assassins Creed was, has worn away.

    In conclusion then, Odyssey excels as a new addition to the franchise. It capitalises on all the things Origins had, and even pushes the boat out further. Though while it excels in what is has achieved, this new form of Assassins Creed will not carry the same effect as I think older instalments once did.

    Oddsey brings back the cliché dual character protagonist system first started with Syndicate and continued with Origins. This time around however, the characters aren't switched between throughout the game but selected once at the start. To me this is pretty redundant and pointless especially without any indication of what their differences will be aside from gender. I checked if there was any substance to the choice online, but there isn't so I just chose Kassandra as she was easier to understand.

    Speaking of false choices, due to Assassins Creed trying so hard to be an rpg these days there's now constant choice prompts in character interactions instead of the traditional cut scenes. They're mostly redundant and just serve to demand player attention and interaction giving the illusion of choice. 99% of choices only give a different responding sentence and don't otherwise affect the conversation or the gameplay in any way.
    I would've enjoyed the game much more without them and had to stop myself from spamming circle to skip through conversations.
    An example early on of the falsity of choice is choosing a horse. You have to ask about each horse to get told of their "strengths", you go to pick the one with the desired strength only to be told it has a weakness which you dont get told of, then told to choose again or decide. Turns out the horses are all pretty much the same, have the same "weakness" response when selected, then have the same name, and control and travel the same speed.

    As with Origins, ubisoft are constantly ruining the controls of the game, now taking the horrible rpg-like controls from origins and further worsening them by removing shields and requiring multiple simultaneous key presses to block attacks. Additionally, heavy weapons have been nerfed since Origins, where they used to provide a block type move mid-swing, now no longer do so in Oddysey, so heavy weapons are now slower and offer no defense.

    You have the false illusion of being able to assassinate, except assassination doesn't kill on a single hit unless you are of the same level as the enemy. I long for the days of real Assassins Creed, where enemies weren't all gods.

    Many moves which were default in Origins now need to be unlocked, eg Overpower. Even worse, "revelation" aka "pulse" aka eagle vision (rip) something that has existing since AC1, now has to be unlocked and isn't default by points (which makes no sense in an AC plotline). It's also pretty much useless even maxed up as the eagle (up arrow) is far better at finding and identifying things than the revelation/pulse.

    Ruined the lore. According to an item at the beginning within Oddysey (not even part of the plot), the precursors took the names of gods rather than being mistaken for gods as per the original Desmond plot of AC.
    Instead of being assassins vs templars, this game is a soap opera about a family. It's the most boring assassins creed game i've played, and perhaps the most boring game in general I've played. Also, there's now supernatural mythical enemies now. Origins had some mythology, but it only did this within the pharaoh dlc and within the guise of curses. This is just straight-up running around hack-and-slash grinding identical enemies with varying level mixed with mythical beasts.

    I don't understand what this game was trying to be. Obviously some sort of RPG, for some reason. But.. it's a terrible rpg. There's no real role to play. There's no feeling of accomplishment. No variation in missions. No meaning to choice or actions. Only a few decisions actually matter and honestly I didn't care about a single one of them as the situations are dull. Inventory management is rubbish.
    Quests are disposible. There's no plot, it's just a character traveling around trying to find other characters, and whilst doing this having sex with as many people, male or female, as they can. And not in a funny way like Leisure Suit Larry. Just a cringe way like pandering to teenagers. None of the relationships matter, and the sex doesn't do anything for the character or story. The ending even hammers home how pointless all of these interactions were.
    The plot was already quite thin with Origins, but at least what there was of a plot was fairly memorable. The characters mattered and the main arc made sense. There's really nothing memorable with Oddysey.
    Horizon zero dawn, was a much better action rpg, it's such a superior game in literally every way.

    As a fan since the original Assassin's Creed in 2007, this will be the last Assassin's Creed game I will buy. I never imagined one day i'd be stuck playing an assassins creed game where I have to roam around spamming slash attacks on artificially leveled-up enemies and worse, fantastical monsters, while searching for members of my family only for nothing to really happen when I do.. This was meant to be a game about assassins and stealth, good vs evil, vox populi vs capitalism, and the origin of humankind.

By the inspiration and historical analysis deciphered by Ancient Greece, AC Odyssey is beautiful, light, and wonderful to roam around and look at to see what Ubisoft's reinvention of Ancient Greece has to offer for us AC fans. The player has the choice to choose Alexios or Kassandra, and both characters are enjoyable to play as. To be honest, Kassandra is probably the best choice as she reminded me so much as Ezio Auditore from AC2 and the voice capture performance by the actress is top notch right there. In terms of story, it is about as generic as any other AC game has to offer in terms of delivering a decent narrative, but the 60+ hour main story is bloated and somewhat forgettable which frustrates most players. Aside from that, the open world that AC Odyssey offers is huge filled with interesting background perspectives and detail that makes you want to stay and learn more about Ancient Greece and it is historical perfection. Lastly, the combat and RPG mechanics has been vastly improved which is an absolute delight if you want more action and choices for you to do while spending time in Ancient Greece. AC Odyssey might not be an Assassin's Creed game we all know and love, but the Spartan influence is so strong that this game will make the player feel like a Spartan badass as there are things to see and do in Ancient Greece thanks to its influence that impacted our society of tomorrow. The years after I adventured with Desmond and Ezio, and learned more about Abstergo, the animus, the assassin's, and the templar. This year, I finally made it to Assassin's Creed Odyssey and I began an adventure with Kassandra, exciting to see where the story went over the years.

    The first thing quickly realized, is the story didn't seem to care much for what I loved about the series (the lore, if you will). However, AC Odyssey invites you into the world of Ancient Greece. The gameplay is smooth, the graphics are breathtaking, and the story is immersive. I never ran out of things to do and every mission felt more of an exploratory task than a mission. After a while, I didn't want to leave Ancient Greece anyway.

    I think this is one of the top five games I've played since 2000. I love Greek mythology and I love how Odyssey tells the story of Kassandra like the Odyssey. The game is filled with surprises and adventure, and the writing ties it all together in spectacular fashion. I played 104 hours and had a hard time stopping to move on to my next game. I want to play Valhalla, but now sure it can live up to my expectation now.

    Story: Was Ok, kept me going. Although very thin for such a long game, sometimes at the intellectual level of a cheap soap opera. But then again, some funny and exciting moments

    Combat: fun, but extremely repetetive. Same enemy types for 360hours. Damage sponge enemies. Levelscaling: you will grind your ass off only to find out that enemies have to same level as you

    Side Quests: some fun, some mediocre, some ridiculous. 923423 Bandit Camps and Forts, as usual.

    Graphics: Amazing. Really outstanding, the world is extremely beautiful!

    Compared to Origins: Odyssey improves almost every gameplay aspect of Origins

    Overall I enjoyed the game, but it is not as good as Witcher 3, maybe 60% of it.

    Although there were great animation and ancient historical visuals, the story was extended for no reason to become exciting. Plus, the side missions are much much boring while the game forces you to finish them due to the awkward level system .Travelling could become a torture despite of great landscape on the road.

Paying bounties like RDR, the nemesis system from Shadow of Mordor, tagging enemies and slow motion stealth like MGSV, the dialogue options and quest vocal cheer from the Witcher 3. Honestly a lot from the Witcher 3... This would not be a problem if not for AC:O's lack of originality. Enemies are too spongey, and levelling up takes far too long. For this reason the game is better with an XP booster... Hard to imagine that was unintentional. The story is the same cliche of revenge and plot twist about you being the chosen one, it really isn't anything you haven't seen before. The "Ancient Greek" setting is utterly pretentious and overstated for the simple reason that the majority of the story revolves around personal problems, money and bandits, thus making the historical setting more of a gimmick than as genuinely deep and educational as God of War, for example. What I mean is the Mythology and History is never deeply explained, it feels more like an annoying child dropping names for attention, when all the adults know full well that the child doesn't understand what theyre talking about. What quality there surely is has already been done to DEATH by other games, including other Ubisoft games... A fine example of "games as service", we are sold this '"minimum viable product" skin and bones while the meat and veg are hidden behind DLC pay walls. I would personally argue any huge fan of this game doesn't understand the games industry and has no appreciation for better games, otherwise why would you play this to be frank... I feel that was a very lazy decision to make this game BIGGER. They should have taken more time and made 6 to 8 different bandit camps then spread those through the world. I like that Ubisoft have constant updates to bounty hunters and updating new missions. These missions are very repetitive though. But the beauty of the world and the power I have as a player in defeating enemies is great. I liked being able to climb anything and have the powers I have and fighting mythological beasts and creatures. Ubisoft should have taken more time though to make missions and camps feel different. In games like the Witcher 3 level scaling is an option, but the defult is off, and you only really need to turn it on for new game plus. The witcher is a leveling system done right, this is not. The combat is also boring and like I said above, you will need 5-10 minutes of strait hitting a guy to kill an enemy a few levels above you. The world is also boring and samey. There are very few instantly recognizable places. The side quests in that world are some of the most uninteresting and boring things to ever exist. The side characters are boring and uninteresting. The story is also boring, generic, and uninteresting. And it's more of a personal thing, but I don't like alot of strait up magic in my Assassin's Creed. Alse the end game is incredibly grindy. I think Ubisoft should make this a biennial franchice. Give each game more developement time and space them out a bit more, and try to go back to classic Assassin's Creed. Using the newer and better technology available they could make a classic style AC game set in the days of Genghis Khan in the Mongal empire, the Mexican Revolution, the Spanish Inquisition, futile Japan, any time in Russian history. Just make the game take place after Origins, but before world war2, and make a game styled after AC 2 and Brotherhood, just please stop with the sh*tty witcher clones. Expand

    Now I have to admit that Odyssey is not the game for everyone, but it definitely was the game for me. Still I gave it a rating downgrade for the grindy nature.

    Let's get to the parts I loved while playing this.

    1. Setting
    Assassin's Creed Odyssey is set in ancient greece and executes this theme with mastery. The map consists of a continental part where the story takes place and a bunch of islands with side quests. The different areas are not hugely distinct from each other but there are differences and after all they are modeled after the real greece, so there was not that much freedom for the world building. One thing that stands out is the mythology. Ubisoft managed to weave it into the AC-Lore. I don't know about the AC part but it is a really exciting way to look at these ancient tales. This is especially true for the Atlantis DLC.

    2. Combat
    In my opinion the combat in Odyssey was extremely fun, skill based and open to experiment with. There are plenty of fun and useful abilities. The variety of gear with stats that really matter makes it possible to create lots of different builds that all feel unique. With the right build it is possible to beat every enemy that is up to 10 levels above the level of you and your gear.
    The stealth system worked a lot different from that in other parts of the series though. The main difference being that stealth is now a choice you have to actively make. I think this is a good design decision. I played huge parts of the game as an Assassin and had a stealth focused build up to the point where that got way to easy (killed every miniboss in one assassination + ability and did stealth area damage). I had to sacrifice some physical strength to achieve that though.
    Ship battles were not that exciting but still ok and rather optional.

    3. Story/Immersion
    Not only the world design but also the quest design is focused on letting you feel ancient greece. While the gameplay of the quests is ok and the storytelling has its highs and lows, with the best being the island side quests and the ending, what really stands out is the immersion. I was able to do everything I wanted to do in Greece and the story fully revolved around feeling like a greek hero. Slaying beasts, fighting epic battles, invading fortresses or forging mighty weapons which, together with your skills, let you feel like a god.

    As stated above you might not like Odyssey. You might start the game, play 20 hours then get bored of the gameplay and move on. This game has flaws, for example the repetitiveness or the amount of time it takes to level yourself or your gear up. I was constantly at the need of upgrade material. However, if you love the theme of Greece and its politics or mythology, if you like a varied combat system and like hours of it, chances are you'll love this game.
    I am such a person. I sunk 230 hours into this game and its two DLC's and I don't regret a single minute of it. And if there was more of it I sure as hell would play that as well. I did every cultist, every riddle, every quest or side quest, fought my way to the top of the mercenary ranking, collected every legendary gear piece that can be found on the map and even completed every single one of the roughly 750 locations on the map. So yes, I loved that game.

    I've had 2 playthroughs myself

    > 1 I made it to level 50, did some side stuff, and uncovered the whole map

    > 1 I made it to level 30-ish and was doing mostly side stuff

    > 1 where I watched my girlfriend play through the Kassandra storyline, on PC with 8x XP (using a trainer).

    > Given that I've played it for that amount of hours and bought it at 50% off, I'd say that there's plenty of value for money, but I would not recommend it at full price.

    Positives
    --------------

    > Honeymoon period lasts 10-15h before you start to notice glaring issues

    > Map is big, if you're a fan of just exploring and seeing pretty landscapes it's worth wandering around. The first time you zoom out of the map, it blows your mind

    > There are various different systems in place* - the Sparta vs Athens war, the Cult, the mercenaries, etc.

    > There's an abundance of loot with different rarities and appearance

    > There's a decent skill tree to be explored

    > Recruiting crew for your ship is fun.

    > Some of the choices are pretty good and have interesting results

    > Almost no Abstergo

    Negatives
    ---------------

    > Story is AWFUL - when I figured out who your father is and what he is doing I almost quit the game. Laughably bad sci-fi fanfiction story writing

    > The accents of characters are horrible

    > Padding - the game nerfs your progression and you're forced to do mundane, busywork, copy-pasted side content

    > In a game called "Assassin's Creed", you should always be able to assassinate someone while sneaking (with the exceptions of bosses). When you sneak on an NPC while they sleep, you should be able to kill them while in stealth, not just deal a moderate amount of damage and wake them up.

    > Traversal is horrible - the horse feels like a soulless mechanic, just get on it, set a waypoint, and let it take you there. The ship is boring and at times you get attacked by pirates or whatever while trying to get to your location. It's very annoying.

    > The gear drops all the time, legendary gear does not feel special or earned since it's so commonly found.

    > The combat is the worst in AC history. It's so tiring, repetitive and goofy. You end up rolling and running around like a moron, just waving your swords around ridiculously.

    >*The mechanics that I mentioned do not connect meaningfully to the entirety of the game and just feel slapped on the game with no point, just to have it.

    > Romance options are very weird and feel tacked on > I'd prefer a more developed (male or female) character instead of 2 really bland main character options > Every time the sci-fi elements are brought in, I hated it > Historic personalities are just slapped in there like a celebrity cameo in a sitcom > Camera is too far away and make the character look tiny. When heavily geared up he looks like a chunk of metal jumping and rolling around.

    Graphics are good but the rest is just awful. The identity of Assassin’s Creed IS LOST. If it didn’t have AC in the tile you wouldn’t even know. The RPG mechanics don’t fit this saga, combat is just silly and cartoony and the atmosphere is just too politically correct. It’s a boring and grindy game and the end of an era.

    I thought the story in this game was absolutely amazing and enthralling. I also thoroughly enjoyed the combat, and the world is very beautiful

    they don't like this game at all
    but some says its good
    For my opinion its a good game
    First i'm like "meh" its okay but after awhile the game becoming much more interesting
    as I'm playing it
    and i end up playing a hundred of hours, I never thought i would waste a hundred hour into this game but i did cuz its amazing
    maybe some people never played the game they just watched it and and people complaining cuz it aint and assassins creed game
    for me yes but no
    yes its not an assassins creed game because of the gameplay is quite different than its predecessors but no it is part of the assassins creed and that makes it an assassins creed game

    For me it's a great game i've played countless of hours grinding, exploring, fighting, seeking, serving, and uncover the mysteries of the greek world

    Game is fun and the best AC so far. Graphics aren't the best, but the game is still beautiful. Hopefully Valhalla follows this formula, but with improved graphics.

    This game's next step for the entire saga.....Odyssey adds tons of hours of gameplay with great story background, graphics, etc. Its impressive a lot of stuff to do in this game and choose way to start from...
    Nice game...

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Alright so I am entirely re-writing this review after having put in probably more hours than this game is worth. Which makes me incredibly sad to say honestly. The amount of pure potential available in this particular release is so incredibly immense and the fact that it feels so rushed in so many places. I want to love this game so much I can't think of a way to properly express myself in some sort of composed manner and not looking like well a mess.
    While there is indeed a lot of very good and really fun things in this game, the story and characters feel for lack of better wording, flat and uninspired for a grand majority of the game. So, I would like to say in regards to my review and previous now redacted review and before I continue further, I have the overall same viewpoint as I did before that the game is not worth the money unless on a 75% or more sale for just the base game as the DLC is well... Bad, really bad.
    So as for overall game play, the game is really enjoyable. It's relatively intuitive and easy to learn. So if you're relatively new to the RPG genre or just want some (most of the time) fair but punishing combat, stealth and an open world "sandbox" that you can do a rather absurd amount of things in. You'll probably have a pretty good time with this game.
    However, if you are coming into this game wanting to have a deep story with fully developed characters and dialogue choices that matter. I would suggest you move on and probably play something like the Witcher series. Kassandra/Alexios as a base character give you nothing to really work with as a player or character motivation until you get into the main story line. But if you are to go ahead and just say "Oh well, then it's fine right?" you would be wrong. For what reason does Kassandra/Alexios have to pursue the contract given to you by Elpenor? You gain nothing aside from by pure coincidence a way off of Kephalonia. (after having maybe set a plague loose on the entire greek world, good job btw... I actually really loved this feature and it gave me a ton of hope as to what was in store for this game)
    ~~~~~~~~SO FROM HERE ON OUT IMMA SAY IT, ~~~~SPOILER WARNING~~~~~~~
    Alright so, I have very little aside from what is stated above up until we get up to meeting with our real dad. Well that's not true, because part of what decides if you get a true good ending comes well before this, actually really rather close to the beginning of the game in the grand scheme of things. Yup I'm talking about how you kill the Monger. Kill him secretly? you're gonna get the true good ending as you'll be saving the greatest amount of people. Kill him in public like the rat he deserves? Well I guess you're out of luck and you are forced to kill Lagos the Archon. An innocent man blackmailed into doing the cults bidding because they kidnapped his wife and child. Bet you feel like a real douche now, huh. WELP there is no way to undo this unless you wanna replay the last 50-75 hours and lose all that time you spent leveling and getting gear, boy that's sure a shame.
    Now onto how you interact with you're real dad, Pythagoras... I HATE, the interactions with him. WHY THE HELL DO YOU FEEL OBLIGATED TO HELP HIM AT ALL? He has done nothing for you, not even once as far as we know and will ever know. "Yeah dad, thanks for the eagle. Pretty neat trick" ????? Also if you choose the dialogue option "You haven't earned my help." Alexios/Kassandra act all angry and Pythagoras gives you zero response to that anger as you're just some child throwing a temper tantrum. You are never given a real, meaningful reason to pursue helping them or even giving a damn about Pythagoras he's just suddenly there. After everything Kasssandra/Alexios has been through, you don't think they deserve SOME if ANY compassion or explanation upfront? But no, that's okay don't worry about all that I guess because that is totally not what some rational and normal human being would do.
    I'm going to skip over ALL of the scenes where we are controlling Layla as they are really just pointless in this game and serve no purpose what so ever really other than to remind you that "Yeah there's plot here, you just have to find it lmao." Even when there really isn't any real plot involving her or anything she is doing at this time. All of those scenes feel incredibly forced as if they were an after thought as the developers seemingly realized that Desmond leaving the animus a few times in the original series happened and received a fair amount of praise.
    TLDR; garbage game, honestly, what a way to kill a franchise. the critic reviews are ONLY reviewing the shortened part of the game for review, NOT the FULL game.
    Assassin's Creed Odyssey is through and through a very solid game. It has a pretty good story, nothing genre defining, but again it's pretty solid. Its a solid open-world game, no major cons, no over-the-top pros: Just a solid game overall. It also feels really true to Greek Mythology, I felt pleased to find small little nods like when stumbled upon "The Helmet of Orpheus." Once again 8/10 would recommend. Expand
The story is godawful, the map is big but COMPLETELY forgettable. seriously, who asked for a map this big? Brotherhood's map was only Rome, but memorable and the game is the best in the franchise.
    like for instance, the bandit camps are copypasted. EVERY bandit camp has the exact same layout clucked everywhere over the map. The naval combat is mindnumbing as hell just like the combat. Every enemy is basically a damage sponge.
    Everything the franchise was based on is completely thrown out of the window. You don't have a hidden blade, there is no creed or templars even. And the inclusion of magic is godawful; what even is this? Suddenly i am able to magically ignite my sword or smear my axe with poison with sheer magic?!. I remember when they removed a crossbow from AC 1 just because it was not historically accurate.
    furthermore, the choices are a ridiculous addition. your playing through someone's memories through the animus. Why in the hell should you be able to make choices?
    Parkour is also garbage and completely removed. you don't even have to find a path anymore you can just hold your joystick forward in combination with X. And you just walk in a straight line over rocks and everything.
    hunting is also awful, killing a bear or something is not even a challenge, but a one hit. IT IS A **** BEAR! you should be fighting for your life!
    and the most awful of all is the removal and massacre of stealth. Why remove social stealth? why remove haybales?
    I simply do not get it
    In conclusion, this might be the worst game I have ever played in my life. And I have for the life of me nothing positive to say about it.
    The franchise is not dead. It was murdered.
    The masterpiece of the series. Nearly perfect in every way. Hated the arrow combat and the fluff missions that artificially expand the length of the game, but otherwise it was a solid game. Truly recommend stating your hero as a glass canon for the best gameplay experience imo
    "Assassin's Creed Odyssey" en mi opinión, es un juego gigantesco. Pero esto no quiere decir que sea bueno. Es enorme en todos los sentidos; tiene un mapa gigantesco y al mismo tiempo "desperdigado" en diferentes islas. Lo bueno del mapa es que es bastante fiel con la realidad, ubicaciones históricas e islas reales aparecen en el videojuego. Atenas o Esparta son dos ciudades majestuosas y adentrarte en ellas es todo un privilegio, están cargadas de detalles y en general de realismo histórico. El problema es que a pesar de haber una cantidad enorme de ubicaciones parece que buena parte del mapa sobra, que está "muerto", simplemente adornado con montañas y bosques. Esto le resta calidad a otras partes del mapa.
    Por otro lado tenemos la trama principal. Me considero un afortunado de haber podido jugar todas las entregas de la saga y puedo señalar que es la historia más larga de todas. Creo que la forma en que está planteada la historia está mal. La toma de decisiones hace llevar a cada jugador a encontrar un diferente final poco elaborado, a crear un protagonista a veces sin gusto y aburrido (como fue en mi caso) y tener que realizar abundantes (más que "Origins") misiones secundarias aburridas y repetitivas algunas de ellas, con el objetivo de subir de nivel y poder completar las misiones principales.
    El combate es algo diferente al del "Origins", es más rápido y ligero pero al mismo tiempo pierde contundencia y realismo. Y pierde realismo porque hay ciertas habilidades comprables que son absurdas, de eso se da cuenta todo el mundo. Además, ya no contamos con la hoja oculta, que probablemente junto con la capucha el salto de fe es el elemento más icónico e importante de un Assassin's Creed y esto es otro punto que resta calidad a este juego.
    La calidad gráfica es buena, pero si la comparamos con la del "Red Dead Redemption 2", que salió ese mismo año u "Horizon Zero Dawn" (2017) nos damos cuenta que es inferior, por no hablar de elementos técnicos pobres como la falta del movimiento de la naturaleza (árboles y plantas) que es bastante rudimentaria. Y es que "Odyssey", "recicla" el motor gráfico del "Origins", es casi clavado y de eso se daría cuenta casi todo el mundo.
    Creo que Ubisoft se precipitó al sacar esta entrega a pesar de haber sido exitosa en ventas. Creo que algo más de empeño y tiempo habrían hecho de "Odyssey" un gran juego como lo fueron las primeras entregas.
    I cared more for these characters and the world than I ever did in previous Assassin’s Creed games, and I think that’s part of why this reboot is so successful. Playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey left me feeling valiant and triumphant as I worked my way up the cultist food chain, and and I was always excited to see what Kassandra was off to discover next.
    If someone had told me couple of years ago that Assassin’s Creed would become a full-fledged action RPG that would not look out of place on a shelf next to The Witcher 3, I would have snickered. But here I am, over 80 hours into Odyssey and still unable to believe that really happened. [12/2018, p.44]
    It also commits a few of the same sins: in particular, the deluge of gar drops feels vaguely insulting, conditioning the player to lust after items exclusive to the in-game store. It's lifted, however, by the relative wit and intelligence of its quest design, and the delicate notes of uncertainty and curiosity introduced by Exploration mode. [Christmas 2018, p.108]
