    I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the game. There were some really good memorable things dealing with greek gods and puzzles (I won't go into specifics). The graphics are great. There is definitely some wokeness but nothing unbearable. For example, they have women as mercenaries who come after you and give them male bodies (no joke).     Visually stunning, fairly fun but repetitive game play , but it BLOATED !!!! 10 hours in and I had barelt even leveled , paid to make the leveling normal, played and 25 hours and I am over it.. I dont know WTF is going on in the story, I barly unloack a fraction of the map and its all the same thing over and over for hours.

    I play 150 hour. Atlantis dlc was the best dlc i ever played. I love Greek mythology so much. I played as Kassandra. Story Side Missons was really good i think.

    I spent 100+ hours in this game only because I have nothing to play else and I don’t like to drop off Storyline is weak, heroe doesn’t have any motivation, just do what NPC said
    Gameplay sometimes enraged me so much that I really wish I can have a refund
    However, art direction is beautiful and sometimes you can make few interesting quests
    That’s all, 6 only for visual, atmosphere and sound

    This was my first assassins creed game. I thought it was a great game. I’ve always had a interest in Ancient Rome, so I had to give this one a go. I played as Alexios, which I think was a mistake, but either way enjoyable. I really like the world and the mix of land and sea battles were great. I did Platinum this game, however I didn’t do all of the extra dlc content yet. I enjoyed theThis was my first assassins creed game. I thought it was a great game. It illustrates a mockery of a once great series of games that chose to go to a completely wrong direction having no respect for it's true fans. Watching a walktrough of the story on youtube would have been a far better and cheaper option where I would have been spared grinding an empty world with mythological creatures and fire swords, that have no place in an ac universe, just to become a high enough level to progress trough the story.… Expand

    I like it. Ancient Greece is awesome. Only thing I really wish technically would be great if the game would run 60fps, but sure it looks great and there are already some drops in fps every now and then. The story isn’t great, but good enough for me, since other aspects of the game make up for it

However, this is not what makes it an average game for me, but the fact that, apparently, it was done anyway, in other words, many bugs and very poorly made gameplay. It is unfortunate to see that Ubisoft makes games with beautiful graphics, but with Ps2 gameplay. It's very similar to Mordor's Nemisis system and when playing on hard difficulty, the bounty hunters can cause serious peroblems and you have to work around them.     I haven't liked Assassin's Creed for many years now, but I heard this one played like an RPG ... damn were they right. I am loving the exploration, combat, stealth tactics, and freedom offered in odyssey.

    A big upgrade to Origins. Do not read the rantings about micrktransactions. They are there mostly for cosmetic reasons. You can complete the game easily without any. One of the only true RPG's left out there. Can't wait for Valhala

    Amazing story! Great characters for the hero ( Kassandra) and the antagonist ( Alexios). I really enjoyed the game, I've played more than 150 hours. Assassins Creed: Odeyssey also has a great gameplay. This game is my first favorite game. Ubisoft released two great dlc for Odeyssey which makes the game even better.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This could be GOTY! Amazing to play, great storyline, great mechanics! This is the kind of game you can play for hours at stretch. I love the greek mythos and on the first impression, I thought, wow I can be Leonidas and I can be Themistocles. The game is not greedy. You can not purchase anything and yet be OP. The classification of gear (Common, rare, epic, legendary) is rewarding enough. The boss fights are draining, but the rewards are worth it. The game has a pretty good sense of humour too. Jesting with characters like Alkibiades and Socrates is quite funny. The perpetual Peloponnesian war never lets this game end and you can switch your allegiance at your whim! That's what a mercenary does right? The Skill tree is not too complicated and fun to use. The USP is the Sparta Kick, paying homage to Leonidas' legendary "This is Sparta"! I would've liked it if I could upgrade the Ship (going from a sailboat to the Black Pearl), but the ship's shape and size remain the same. There is always more than one way to achieve an objective. This AC would keep you hooked for hours with over 200+ hours of gameplay before the main quest line ends. Then again, you can still explore various island nations, do Bounty or side quests. Gameplay-wise, it's quite nice. Decent map pointers move mechanics are uniform and refreshing combat mechanics. You can't just pound your enemy into submission (maybe you can in the later stages of the game), you have to wait for the opportunity to attack. Fighting to run away from an OP enemy is also looks quite genuine. Customizing the gear and character and gear looks is sweet, one moment I am a greek hoplite, in next one I am a Persian assassin..ha! Fun right?
    My verdict: Please buy, you won't regret it!

    If you liked Origins but thought it had a too plausible story and too little level scaling and you LOVE to grind, this game may just be for you. If you are more like me, the game is just good enough to not stop playing. (After all, I couldn't return it anyway, thanks ubisoft -.-)

This takes most of the stupid level mechanics out of the way. If this was not possible, I would have stopped playing and gave this a way worse rating.
    Visually the game is quite good and the gameplay is, besides grinding, mostly entertaining. The main story is mostly entertaining, with some really stupid moments in there. The sidequests are just garbage, ignore them.

    Regarding the DLCs:
    - The atlantis one feels a bit too similar to the Origins DLC and has some questionable story moments, but besides that is quite entertaining. I think I liked it more than the main game.
    - I didn't like the legacy of the first blade. I disliked the story, some main characters and the pretense of choice. In most situations what I wanted to do was not allowed by the game / story and some theoretically important "choices" were rendered meaningless by imo lazy plot devices.    … Expand

    When its fun, its really fun, but when its not, its really not. The grind is crazy in this game on purpose in order to get you to spend real world cash on XP boosting micro-transactions. If you can resist that kind of thing you will have a great time. But, if you can not, prepare to get really angry or spend a lot of cash.

    O jogo é simplesmente incrível! Desde o começo você sente a liberdade que dá para fazer nesse mundo, os cultistas, mercenários, guerra entre espartanos e atenienses, diferentes estilos de jogo e habilidades... Melhor jogo da série AC.

    Il peggior capitolo della saga! Personaggio piatto, storia che non colpisce, bisogna livellare ed anche molto ripetitivo. Manca la possibilità di equipaggiare lo scudo in quell'epoca storica molto grave. Bella l'ambientazione.

    Mesmo o personagem não tendo tanta personalidade o jogo é excelente. Seus gráficos te prendem a todo canto do mapa além da tematática rpg ser viciante porém repetitiva. Único bug que eu achei foi na parte de atracar os navios na qual o seu navio era levado por uma força externa ao navio do inimigo.

    Saying this game wasn't grindy is like saying the last season of game of thrones wasn't **** But this game really immersed me into the world of ancient Greece. Ubisoft needs to adjust some things in order to truly create an immersive open world rpg, but it's safe to say that they're on the right track. P.S i will never support the integration of micro transactions like time savers in video games.

There are so many collectibles, weapons, armour pieces, map icons, identikit enemies and side fetch missions, most of which inconsequential distractions, that making progress and gaining genuine entertainment takes far too much time investment. Overall, no, this doesn't feel like a true Assassins Creed game but it is very enjoyable. I'm hoping after these next two years off UBI takes the best of what we loved at the beginning of the series and combines it with the new RPG elements. It takes away that slight linear feeling the original games had. I do miss the overall style of the original games in gear design. I haven't felt like an Assassin since the EZIO series and I wish we could bring that feeling back. Overall I'm enjoying this game about 20hrs in. The story is more enjoyable than Origins, slight frame rate drops can occur and some of the NPC voicing is laughable but this game deserves a solid 7.5/8 score overall.… Expand

They could've done so much with an open world game like this, but every single island is the same except for a few key cities. It's just mountain after mountain after mountain and it makes having a horse useless. And the parkour is just horrendous you just jump on buildings and climb mountains and you call this park our? And not to mention the story is weird you go from killing your father for trying to kill you and your sister to getting a magic spear?… Expand

    Completely lost the plot with this one. The assassin identity is utterly nonexistent. Fighting mechanic is the worst from all the genres and the acting and animation is embarrassing almost cringeworthy.

    Great combat, beautiful setting and engaging story. It makes for a longer and more interesting game than Origins but lacks the draw of Bayek of Siwa and nothing imo beats the egyptian setting so far. Still a fantastic game, but I feel Origins is a better AC game. This is coming from someone who didnt really like the series either..

    Assassin's Creed was an idea that would have been a leading figure in the gaming industry. But instead it degraded itself to be a wannabe of masterpieces like the Witcher. Ubisoft you have turned what I beloved into something lifeless,boring and fake. I have no doubt Valhalla will do the same.

    Assassin´s Creed Odyssey is a good RPG game, with a great historical location, but a common story. The game is super fun, with epic boss fights (like Minotaur) and good content after you finish the game.

    The game has an good stealth side, but you can´t make instant kills most of the time.     Игра понравилась. Гринда вообще не заметил. Почему? Потому что исследовал мир. Про донат узнал от одного известного ютубера. Ну который ещё устраивал модный приговор и говорил только про скины.

    This game is pretty good but falls short of greatness. The storyline is mediocre and so are the characters. It's also quite different from traditional assassins creed games but I view that as a good thing as I found the old formula quite stale and AC Unity was the last AC game I played and I wasn't able to finish it.

    Pros:
    * This game is huge and looks very good for such a large open world game.
    * The gameplay is quite addictive. I loved how they changed the gameplay to become more of an RPG. You can optimise your playthrough to become either a Hunter (archer), Warrior, or Assassin. I've read that being a Hunter does the most DPS but I find being an archer boring so I went for a Warrior/Assassin hybrid. The warrior combat is the most fun.

    Being an Assassin is also necessary as a lot of fortresses have way too many soldiers to kill in open combat so it's good to invest in this skill tree and find weapons/armour that increase your assassination damage. Unlike with older AC titles, many times you cannot assassinate someone with a one hit kill despite sneaking up on them. This being more of an RPG, you need to invest points into the Assassin tree and optimise your weapons/armour to deal the most damage whilst you're sneaking around. Usually polemarchs/warlords and captains cannot be killed in a one hit kill assassination but investing in the assassin tree still makes sense as your assassin damage is exponentially higher than your warrior damage so you can deal most of your damage upfront making open combat a little easier.
    * Gameplay is more varied than past AC games (except maybe origins but I haven't played that). You play as a mercenary so you can side with either Athens or Sparta. I chose to remain neutral as you get better loot that way.
    ** There are conquest battles which is like one big battle between Athens and Sparta and a few mercenaries. These are heaps of fun and one of my favourite aspects of this game. I always choose the side which has a difficulty rating of hard (the other being normal) as you get better loot that way.
    ** There are mercenaries who hunt you down when you get a "wanted" rating, for example when you commit crime out in the open such as stealing or murder. At first I thought these mercenaries were unique as they appear in the mercenaries menu however they get replaced by other mercenaries so this can get quite repetitive. For e.g. I killed over 250 mercenaries in my playthrough.
    ** Fortresses and/or bandit camps. You need to take out fortresses which involves killing polemarchs/captains, destroying supplies, and looting treasures to lower the nation rating to trigger conquest battles.

    Cons:
    * My biggest complaint with this game is that it's very repetitive. I personally found the gameplay addictive enough to get through this however I still felt that it was a slog a lot of the time. The world is huge but much of it is recycled. If you've done one fortress, you've done them all. I would've preferred for this game to be more varied in its quests at half the length. Mercenaries was a nice touch even though it blatantly ripped off the Shadow of Mordor/War series.
    * The storyline and characters were mediocre at best. As the protagonist, Kassandra has a much better voice actress than Alexios so if you're choosing to play this game as a female or male, pick female. Pretty much all of the character you meet are forgettable and it's hard to care what happens to them.
    * Horse riding speed is very slow inside or near cities. Basically when your horse trots around in a city, that's the same speed as running so you're better off not using your horse in cities as while running, you're better able to traverse through obstacles like climbing over walls, houses, etc.
    * Bugs and more bugs. Most of the bugs I encountered in my 70 hour playthrough weren't game breaking but more annoying. AC titles are buggier than a lot of AAA titles I've played. The main one is characters disappearing and reappearing elsewhere during combat or disappearing altogether. This one probably isn't a bug, but sometimes Kassandra can climb over a wall or column that is pretty much flat but other times she can't climb something which is obviously less smooth. Not a huge deal but breaks the immersion as it's inconsistent.
    * Choices and consequences. Most of your decisions don't really influence anything, at least not long term. There are a few decisions that do however but these are few and far in between. Romance is the most shallow as you can "romance" some people and they'd go off and do their thing offscreen but you'll never see them again unless it's storyline related and they'd act as if it never happened. The game also gives the impression that it was written for a male main character as most besides one or two or Kassandra's love interests are female. Whilst I don't mind my character being a lesbian, it would've been nice to have more options.

    I played and completed the game for 180hrs including DLCs. Main game story is a little below average while dlcs sucks specially atlantis.The game is fun until you realize eventually that the map though its huge, has no depth and repetitive. Overall id like to give the credit for its gameplay and game progression depth

The traditional one shot assassinations now only deal half the damage and no longer kill someone instantly and the story is somewhat boring. I could probably get into it if the main quest didn't require 5 hours of side quests to get to the level you need to start the thing. Some of the characters are interesting but I do have a question. Why make the player choose between 2 characters if you only really care about one? It just screams lack of dedication. Not only that, but the same character model is used again and again, oh look this pirate woman is a priestess now on the same island! And the mercenary's make no sense as they can track you instantly despite being over 5000m away from you at the time and just randomly stalk you, phones didn't exist back then so it was word of mouth or letters and neither of these were implemented. The gems and rocks you are me at to collect haven't been designed well either, they morph into walls so you can't reach them but ping anyway. It could be ignored by some but annoy the living daylights out of me. This shouldn't have been labelled as an ac game as it holds no resemblance to the franchise. Origins was nice because it was a new game style but even then the replacement of Eagle vision with an actual Eagle was pushing it. Now eagles are the eyes of the characters with no explanation for how this happened. Don't get me wrong, the characters look great with Alexios having very kind eyes and the facial expressions being amusing, but the game feels like it was rush produced and kind of shows that. Now there's also an emphasis on tombs, like the Greeks were all lara croft and possessed magic. I'm going to be honest and say that the modern story is lost on me at this point. I have no idea what's happening and each game seems to be standalone to me now. Not only is the game incredibly repetitive, there's also a very large amount of bugs that just cause the game to crash or break that don't appear in the previous installments like unity or syndicate despite being played on the same console. Multiple forums online also attest to these bugs appearing across multiple platforms and countries so it can't be the console itself. I could go on and on about why this is a bad game but that would waste more of my time and I think enough of that has been used on this game. The story line is forgotten when you are forced to level up before playing and the exploration mode is illogical when it essentially guides you to the marker anyway. Do not fork out full price for this, I wouldn't even bother as you will just become frustrated unless you like meaningless combat and time wasting. For a game marketed at £40 on release, it barely rivals the early xbox original games as games like the original fable would be a more enjoyable experience.    … Expand

    I’ve been waiting for AC franchise to come up with a female character for so long! The game is definitely worth your time; the plot, the graphics, the characters are so well thought of, it’s really pleasing, it’s impossible not to enjoy the game :)

    Playing DLC I’ve finally can say: This is very huge project. I’ve spend tones of hours and still every time got new content, new armour, new skills... Ubisoft done well with their Witcher like RPG! Bravo!

    P.S.: All the transactions are not necessary! Ive finished main story without any spendings. So then I decided to buy DLCs and some skins, cause game deserves it!

    The score does not reflect this game's true value. I avoided buying this game just like with the AC Origins because of how low it has scored and I am ashamed that I misjudged AC Odyssey like that. I wish I played it sooner to experience its fun gameplay and beautiful settings. Maybe the most mesmerizing open world ever existed!!

    It's really funny when most fan says that they want something new in Assassin's games and they tired from old games. But when developmers are created this "new", that fans immediately wanted turned franchaise back. It's fun.
    But I still found one total disadvantage - it's optimisation. Ubisoft really lazy about this moment. Sometimes Fps just drops, sometimes game just freeze and load. It's awful. The game tries to incorporate dialogue decisions and consequences into the game but it's so poorly executed that it makes all of the story dialogues feel awkward. The RPG elements are kind of fun but I felt like way too much focus was put into turning this into an RPG at the sacrifice of the writing. Assassin's Creed used to be about immersing you into an important historical period you understand and see the politics of the viewpoints of the time. That gets lost in this game as they try to let you play for both Athens and Sparta. All of the side characters are just super awkward and poorly written. Bring back the assassin's and templars and historical storylines.… Expand

As far as anything negative I can say about the game my only real complaint is the Animus, I thought I was playing in the BC era until it was revealed that I was actually watching a genetic memory from the inside of some kind of virtual reality machine in the present day, what in the hell? The introduction of the Animus literally comes out of nowhere too and kinda ruined the story for me for a while and apparently the Animus is in all AC games but at the end of the day this eventually became just a small gripe because everything else about Odyssey is amazing. I actually credit this game for getting me into Assassin’s Creed, I’m already eager to check out Black Flag and Origins if they’re anywhere near as good as this game is I’m sure I’ll enjoy playing them too.… Expand

    I loved this addition to the franchise. Building on the open world concepts introduced in previous games, I felt like Odyssey finally fully fleshed those out and combined in with a great story with plenty of lore!

    This game is a disgrace to Open World games and this in my opinion is the worst of them all

    I enjoy a bit this game but it’s like an assassins creed origins setted in greek. This game recycles most of their mechanic feeling that you are playing the same game of the past year. A game of that caracteristics cannot be considered a good game.

The landscape is beautiful and diverse. However, the combat system is annoying, and the mercenary system too. Bugs ruin the gaming experience.     Playing this game you’ll feel like a badass, however if your a fan of the old ac then this game might not be for you. Overall the story is great however it can feel like its never going to come to an end as it’s a long one, too long actually.

    I cared more for these characters and the world than I ever did in previous Assassin’s Creed games, and I think that’s part of why this reboot is so successful. Playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey left me feeling valiant and triumphant as I worked my way up the cultist food chain, and and I was always excited to see what Kassandra was off to discover next.

    If someone had told me couple of years ago that Assassin’s Creed would become a full-fledged action RPG that would not look out of place on a shelf next to The Witcher 3, I would have snickered. But here I am, over 80 hours into Odyssey and still unable to believe that really happened. [12/2018, p.44]

    It also commits a few of the same sins: in particular, the deluge of gar drops feels vaguely insulting, conditioning the player to lust after items exclusive to the in-game store. It's lifted, however, by the relative wit and intelligence of its quest design, and the delicate notes of uncertainty and curiosity introduced by Exploration mode. [Christmas 2018, p.108]
