    Bought it, downloaded it, saw the cut-scenes they claimed to have been "reforged" but was actually the same. It's basically the same engine and they squeezed in the 4K graphics they are so proud of which made the same 2002 engine choke.

    We wanted a remake, not a reskin.

    Screwing the remaster is one thing but taking down with it the original game in the process is just another level of incompetence, imbecility and green. RIP Blizzard... Will remember you the good way you were years ago...

I have been concerned about this game since the beta was released to select streamers last year, for it looked extremely shoddy and I couldn't imagine them improving it much before launch. (I mean, when was the last time a babd beta transformed into a good game?)

    In comparison to what they promised, especially    Beyond horrified by the cash-grab monstrosity that Blizzard (RIP) has become.     In comparison to what they promised, especially the footage from the trailer a few years ago when first revealed, this game is utter garbage. It genuinely looks worse than the original game. Yes, there are new character models. I know that some people like them. I don't especially, for they don't make use of the same design language as before – it is very noticeable that they were made out of house. The cut scenes and cinematic scenes in this new release are ALL WORSE than the original. They are dark and muddy to look at, lacking the magic and authenticity of the old game, and not coming even close to what was previewed. Quite what they've done to the audio in this release is beyond my understanding. I just know it sounds worse.

    I preordered this game in a state of optimism and excitement. And now can't even get a refund (I'm disputing the case, but currently that's the status). It is pathetic of Blizzard to have blatantly lied about what they were promising, and then very quietly dialled back on virtually every promise. The fact that they changed the licence regards modding and map-making is atrocious – it was one of the best things about the original game. There is just so little regard for the passion and enthusiasm of their biggest and most loyal fans. This is not the same company I fell in love with as a kid. They are corporate, greedy, shameless, and liars to boot.

    The game doesn't even run well. Yes, that's right. A game made in 2002 doesn't run in 2020. What's more, they have screwed the original, forcing us all to use the new Battle.net. So, yeah. They have failed to "reforge" the game. They have virtually killed the original game. They have lied and lied and lied; taken our money to pay lawyers to write up new draconian and frankly unreasonable user-agreements that directly spit on fans who have loved and supported Blizzard for decades; trashed what was the best ever RTS of all time (yes, I consider it better than SC); and don't even have the decency to refund preorders. Being lied to by anyone is unpleasant. To be lied to by your favourite games studio, in relation to your favourite game is off the charts.

    I honestly hope Blizzard crumbles and disappears over the next few years. I would be ashamed to work there now. Employees should protest the corporate takeover. Fans and customers need to vote with their wallets. I suspect that Diablo 4 will be the final proof that Blizzard is dead. It needs to be buried and left to rest. What exists today is an infected corpse, belching up putrid crap in exchange for as much money as it can leech from us (the vast majority of which goes to shareholders and company heads – not to the actual creatives and developers).     Blizzard is one of the worst companies in the market. Denying refunds, releasing **** updates with the solo purpose of milking more money fro players. The blizzard we once loved is now gone. It's now just a new EA. I hope it loses as much relevance as possible.

    How do you have LESS features than a game that came out over a decade ago? How is the "Reforged" version worse than the original? Blizzard is just so trash now, this should be evidence of that if all the prior screw ups of theirs weren't enough.

    There's an Australian guy shared how he got denied refund even under consumer protection law, which we all know Blizzard will have to refund because US company sales policy do not override Australia Laws.    … Expand

The graphics looked amazing, the cinematic re-shoots with better camera panning and more dynamic character animations.     When the game was delayed, I was very disappointed, but I thought "you can't rush perfection". They even released the beta test for players to get into to recompense the delay. At this pointed I started to feel the doubt, I hadn't tried the beta, but I saw plenty of game-play from other people. The graphics were barely a step up from the classic client. The units may have looked smoother, but in the larger picture, every meshed together, and it didn't make that much of a difference especially with the flat surroundings and buildings. The game looked more like a really well done Fan-created mod, than that of a Triple A studio.
    The final nail in the coffin for me was the cinematic scenes for the actual campaign. There was no longer that personal touch that I had seen in 2018. There was an even worse punch in the guy when I saw a fan-made scene made by another Blizzard fan on youtube. Something he had done for free. It had more passion and creativity in that one video, than the entire game.    … Expand

    How bad can it get? I mean it is remastering an almost 2 decades old game. The worst for me is lying! The UI, cinematics everything was a lie. Refunding the game is now an issue. Everyone should get their money back. Free advice Blizzard get rid of Activision and your CEO's they are running this franchise into the ground. The worst experience I have ever had with a game by far.

    That alone would justify my low score.

    Game is absolutely unplayable. Terrible lag, crashes everywhere, textures bugging out, obviously no testing done at ALL. Went in expecting a nostalgia trip and got only frustration.

    Blizzard took a big **** on one of the classic pieces of our childhood. Nostalgia is a vulnerable spot to attack for these big companies, instead of a warm feeling to capitalize on. Don't buy, and if you did, refund immediately.
    Also, **** you ActiBlizzard for stealing my W3 Classic, I PAID for that game, for you to steal it now.

    The only 'good' that this game did is bump up account creation on Metacritic by a few thousand. Does Blizzard sell corpses now? This is arguably a bigger f'up than "do you guys not have phones" and a secone chance lost. Or just a strike out. Good bye

    I didnt even bought this game. I'm an owner of the original Warcraft 3. Have been for more than a decade. Now, all of a sudden, I need to install some fancy launcher and useless files and cant play the game I own for more than a decade the way it has always been for more than a decade. I hate this company.

    Big disappointment. All they had to do was update models and maybe fix UI for me as i didn't really care for updated cutscenes. Instead they made the game entirely worse. A lot of sounds are missing that where present in the old game ;jobs done, work complete, ANY unit spawning??? On top of it a few units have a really high pitched noise in the background making it almost unbearable toBig disappointment. I really don't see what the point of this was other than trying to grab more money out of people, But why they think taking clans, ladder, animated portraits, and custom games away from people want to incentivize buying the new game is beyond me. So far those of us with original CDs the second i click the multiplayer button Battlenet will install all the new bugs that weren't present before, amazing.

    To top it all off they are completely denying any form or refund despite the blatant false advertising such as one of the cut scene that doesn't actually exist in the game ON THEIR OWN SITE!    … Expand

    4: forces download on users who want to keep playing the original.

    refuses to issue any refunds much better off getting age if empires 2 definitive edition.

Everything they showed it at Blizzcon 2018 and sold us the game on were scrapped at some point in development and not only did the price not lower, they never took that advertisement off of the main store page.     To make things even worse, it's a bug-riddled mess, and if you think "oh I didn't buy it I'm fine" Reforged has been completely, bugs and all, been forcibly integrated with Classic.

    What changes they made to the campaign were nice, like the cutscenes on the ninth Human mission "Frostmourne", and that's what makes this sting so much. The poor people making the art and cutscenes clearly had passion towards this, but corporate greed and a lack of time/resources must have gotten in their way of making the vision they had. Activision-Blizzard should have delayed it another year (not like they were in dire need of the money) to complete it and polish it. Sadly, that's not the company's way, and pushing out a terribly rushed product, taking the money they could and running was more beneficial in their eyes.

    And that is why Blizzard has completely lost me, a previous fan of theirs, as a customer. I will never give this company another penny. A shame truly, I was thinking of buying WoW time to play Classic with my friends soon, but this has completely driven me away.    … Expand

This reforged is an utter abomination - not only did they scrap about a million things that were promised with fixed values (4+ hours of new cinematica ect ...just google an inforgraphic) but they simply put zero effort in to the game. The game launcher is through web code??? Long story short - I had high hopes after starcraft reforged, especially because they promised more this time - when in fact they delivered less. Absolutely horrendous - oh ps. the customs all suck because their IP attorneys got involved - which lets be honest customs are the reason WC3 was as big as it was - out of my 10+ friends who played - not a single one regularly played versus mode. Blizzard killed the game and killed the genre.

    Since no game launches are perfect, I get to experience some of the same ups and downs that the original players of Warcraft 3(TM) experienced when    I missed out on the original WC3 due to my age so I am extremely grateful for the wonderful business executives at Activision-Blizzard (TM) to give us gamers this choice of playing a wonderful, fantastic game like Warcraft 3: Reforged (TM).

    Since no game launches are perfect, I get to experience some of the same ups and downs that the original players of Warcraft 3(TM) experienced when they first played it, and that feels awesome.

    In our world of ever growing extermism, I'm extremely grateful that Blizzard is taking a stance to stamp out bigotry, racism, sexism, free thinking, religion, and other wrong thoughts from their platform. By assuming copyrights of any mods, they ensure they are allowed to be the final arbiter of what works are deemed allowable to be viewed by intelligent, moral and civil minded people such as those of the wonderful Chinese Government and Silicon Valley progressive values. They're also ensuring that creativity is encouraged by banning already copyrighted works, so modders have to create new content!

I was super hyped, as I loved WarCraft III when it initially released, and the chance to play through the campaign again with a new coat of paint sounded great. If I had no expectations beyond that, I would perhaps give this game a review score of 2 or 3, for the bugs and lackluster product we ended up with.

    However, Blizzard    I preordered this when it was announced at Blizzcon 2018. I was super hyped, as I loved WarCraft III when it initially released, and the chance to play through the campaign again with a new coat of paint sounded great. If I had no expectations beyond that, I would perhaps give this game a review score of 2 or 3, for the bugs and lackluster product we ended up with.

    However, Blizzard did more than drop the ball here. They promised features, showed us a trailer of what we could expect, and left that trailer on the product site even to the time of the writing of this review. That trailer did NOT show anything that was in the game. In fact, the same in-game cutscene from that trailer is not only nowhere near the quality, it even had music cut. Furthermore, the client is terribly buggy, with black screen lockouts, dropped audio, and bizarre menu lag.

    Beyond that, Blizzard has introduced a draconian new policy regarding custom creation in the map editor, placing a claim of ownership to the work of community members, even to the point of not having to credit creators for their work if they claim it as their own.

    Finally, the release of this client was also foisted upon the WC3 classic players, importing a much larger client with a lot of new bugs and performance issues into a 17-year-old CLASSIC of a game.

    Between the false advertisement, the quiet (and massive) scaling back of promised features, the horrible corporate-minded policy changes, and the destruction of the original game, this game is more than a disappointment. It's an unmitigated disaster. It doesn't deserve to be ON a 10-point scale, as it isn't just a disappointing game--it also gutted a wonderful, long-beloved game.

    Blizzard, how far you have fallen. You are no longer the company I spent decades with. You are no longer a development studio who is trustworthy or dependable. You've become another EA, and that's just devastating.

    The only redeeming quality of this game is that it was bad enough that I was one of the lucky few to get a refund before giving it too much of a chance.

    I truly hope that Blizzard recalls this "game" and gives it the redevelopment that it deserves. I truly hope that in a year or more, I will be able to justifiably purchase this game because it is a worthy revival of the game I loved for so many years. But I'll certainly be waiting to see the RELEASED product before making a decision to buy from here on out. I recommend that you do the same when it comes to modern Blizzard, reader.    … Expand

    Regardless of what happens with Reforged in the future, they've made the decision to remove the game licenses for Warcraft 3 that we'e all paid for. A game we owned for years has been revoked from our accounts. Blizzard are literal thieves.

    Blizzard has addressed some of the complaints and criticism hurled its way, and has promised to work on many of these issues. Naturally, one must ask why the game was released in such a state, especially considering the negative attention the company has garnered over the past year with the reveal of Diablo Immortal and the Blizzard/China controversy.

    In the end it’s worth noting that when viewing a remake or remaster what needs to be taken into consideration is the source material, how it looks, feels, and plays. That is, in addition to the work carried out to recreate moments, update visuals, and change any of the presentation. To do otherwise would be silly, a terrible game with a wonderful remaster doesn’t warrant a high score. In the case of Warcraft III, the inverse to that is also true. So, what we end up with is something in-between. A classic reborn, in a package that doesn’t warrant all that much in the way of celebration.

    If you set your expectations a little lower, then Warcraft 3: Reforged is a game worth of your time and money. Sadly, for many of us out there, we were expecting a little more.
