    Not only this game is horrible. it's a merger of classic w3 and reforged. Unplayable inferior piece of ****. I feel also scammed now because they can just "turn off" your purchased game (w3 classic) without an option to revert back.

    Long version:
    When I was young, Warcraft III was one of my first strategy game. I just loved the art of the game and the map editor to build your custom game. When Blizzard announced the new Reforged Edition, I was excited. I pre-purchased it right away when it's become available. I never thought that someone can ruin an old game when they have the great recipe for it. The new art direction is horrible, the over detailed models are not a good choice for a strategy game. When you zoom in it's great but who plays a strategy game zoomed in? (It's not the fault of the outsourced art team. Blizzard was the one who accepted the new art direction.) The new menu is also a disaster. They changed the old 3D menu for a boring 2D animated wallpaper. The UI of the main menu has an insane input lag (on a i5-9400F CPU). Also the structure of the new menu is a colossal mess, just try to start a simple offline game against the computer and you will see it too. One of the new addition to the game is the option for microtransactions, just as they did it with StarCraft II. (You have to pay extra 10€ to unlock the 4 multiplayer hero skins.) There are several bugs in gameplay (ex.: unit and group movement issues and missing shaders) and some crashes too. I have just finished the Exodus of the Horde and my reward was a game crash. When I finally refounded this monstrosity, I noticed that the old Warcraft III is no longer available. They merged the old version to this monstrosity.
    I have almost forget their new anti-community policy. It's just going to kill one of the strongest aspect of this game, the custom map community.
    It was the last time I bought anything from Blizzard. It's clear that the old Blizzard is no longer exists. It's become an another money hungry company.    … Expand

    This game shouldn't exist, it is literally a downgrade from Frozen Throne. Buy Age of Empires II instead, half the prize and a great upgrade.

    Why has my original version of WC3 and FT been deleted, forcing me to download 30GB of excrement that I don't want?? Reading up it looks like features from the original game, whichi have paid for, have been removed and I have to download a game i don't want? Terrible. For anyone that's bought it, get a refund now.

Ranking was broken, teammates always was dumb and they always leave the game, and i can't report that. The game search was broken.     Huge disappointment because of lack of single-player mode. Having no cheat codes is OK. But in Reforged I can't even save my games! This is very important when I'm playing a long custom map. Also without single-player mode I can only pause games for 3 times, and I can't use the "restart mission" button to restart a map quickly. What are Blizzard people thinking?

    I have been a fan of RTS games since the early days of Warcraft 2 tides of darkness, I actually had this game for PlayStation one. Memory cards only held 15 MB of space and this game took a full memory card, so there was no back up save files. But I love this game and    I created a Metacritic account just to score and review this atrocity of a game, and I have a lot to say about why...

    I have been a fan of RTS games since the early days of Warcraft 2 tides of darkness, I actually had this game for PlayStation one. Memory cards only held 15 MB of space and this game took a full memory card, so there was no back up save files. But I love this game and played it All the time, restarting from scratch often from saving in very bad circumstances.

    StarCraft came out Sometime while I was in high school and I played it compulsively, while playing StarCraft I would often fantasize about a Warcraft game coming out with the same or better graphics as StarCraft, and when Warcraft 3 Reign of chaos came out I got exactly what I wanted.

    I went through the story mode of Warcraft 3 reign of chaos/frozen throne at least 10 times. I had very poor Internet connection in my home so I would often play custom maps versus AI, my favorite thing to do was play on hard as the undead, use banshees to take over a night elf build unit (the wisps) and have two bases with two different races of units. I could have 100 undead and 100 Night elf Units at the same time, I spent countless hours doing this.

    Occasionally I would play some of the custom games that other players had built, but I almost always had to do so solo because of my poor Internet connection, I found a lot of those games enjoyable and really wished that I had the ability to play with other people.

    At this point in my life I started working a lot and got very busy, that’s just how adult life goes for gamers. Plus I never got into WOW because I I’m not a fan of MMO‘s. But I always had a place in my heart for RTS games, it seemed to be if that style of gaming was dying out. When I heard rumors of StarCraft 2 releasing needless to say I was excited.

    I purchased StarCraft 2 as soon as it released and still play it to this day. I am a huge fan of the co-op system, and that is something that I would often wish were implemented in a Warcraft game. My hopes of a Warcraft 4 ever coming out have pretty much been shattered because of WOW. I knew that RTS Games we’re on their way out, at least ones made by Blizzards standards of quality. But then there was a remaster of StarCraft, and then I was filled with hope that they would do the same for Warcraft 3 reign of chaos.

    When Blizzard announced Warcraft 3 reforged, I was over the moon with excitement. I would often scour the Internet for any types of leaks or new news about the game. And I hoped that they would introduce some new features to the game maybe even a co-op system like StarCraft two has, I thought that at this point In my life I might actually be able to enjoy some of those custom games that I never got to play with other people. But oh how I was disappointed, just like everyone else that was a fan of this game. Shame on you Blizzard, shame on you Activision. You knew better, you knew what people wanted and what people expected, but you tried to sell us a lie. You tried to use peoples nostalgia and love for a game to get a quick cash grab and it has backfired immensely. This will cost you more money to repair the damages that you have done than any amount of profit you’ve made from this garbage you call Warcraft 3 re-forged.

    You did not learn your lesson from Diablo immortal, you promised that you would do better but you did worse. I now cannot trust anything I see or hear from Blizzard/Activision, you betrayed us all with your lies and propaganda. And to make matters worse you didn’t even apologize for out right deceiving us, because that’s the kind of company you’ve become. You put the blame on us, as if we had unrealistic expectations. And I’m positive that your developers and other people at Blizzard warned you that this would happen, told and possibly even pleaded with you not to release this game yet. But you did what you wanted anyway, like a spoiled child that doesn’t know what’s good for itself and just wants what it wants. And now the parental Internet is giving you a big spanking, because you have been very very bad and need to learn a hard lesson.

    I have spent hundreds of dollars on Blizzard games, even purchasing them for multiple consoles as well as PC versions. Here’s a list...

    Let's see:
    -Cut all the promised new cutscenes
    -Cut all the new english voice acting
    -Cut out promised new story content
    -No custom keybinds
    -New nice looking models/icons/effects/animations. Really pleasing to the eye. (I like them, but essentially the core of the game was cut out so nobody need it without the old good stuff. They want 30$ for a new skin/model pack on the same old game)
    -New unit models have less creative animations that look identical to each other. Some units that had multiple attack animations in Classic WC3 left with more animation variety than their Reforged counterparts.
    -New localization. Foreign dubs which are inferior and compulsory, can NOT be changed back
    -New Arthas vs Illidan cutscene looks terrible. Like a cheap anime fight.
    -Intentional False advertisement (Cutscenes is not at all like in The Culling Campaign Trailer, ect.)
    -No more custom campaign functionality (A lot of good campaigns was made and polished by fans throughout all the years since original game release and to this day. Some do have voice acting, custom models, effects ect.)
    -No more Cross-region play. Custom game list is no longer global. (You can't play custom games with players from other realms/regions meaning it’s much harder to find players and fill game lobbies)
    -New acceptable policy. The world editor’s EULA has been changed. In short, the custom game scene has a lot of new limitations and a lot of older maps are going to be killed off.
    -Copyrighted material from third parties is not allowed in any custom maps. (Which means a multitude of older maps, such as Anime Fight, DBZ Tribute, Pimp My Mario, ect, are now banned AND cannot be remade)
    -Custom maps now have a report button so blizz can ban maps and ban people hosting them
    -All ownership of custom games in Reforged belongs to Blizz and not the creators, and blizz are not required to compensate them in any way if they use it. Any custom game made in Warcraft 3: Reforged cannot be replicated anywhere else. This gives Blizz the power to shut down any standalone versions of custom games made in Reforged.
    -Censorship in maps and game names, for example a lobby called “booty bay” cannot be hosted, even though it’s the name of an official WC3 map, etc.)

    I assume this will lead to people pirate old ver the game, patch revert and use private servers to play maps and campaigns they love.

    To me this looks like the end of a long, fun and creative wc3 custom maps era. One of the most creative gaming communities destroyed by new policies. Blizz killed their gold eggs hen.

    -No more clans, profiles, friend list, ladder (ranked matchmaking, stats, auto tournaments).
    -No more LAN functionality
    -No more offline games versus the AI
    -Can no longer have more than 1 account
    -No more Beautiful UI/menus (in reforged client the menus feel sluggish and less optimised. The chat box overlaps the menus, atmospheric 3D campaign backgrounds are gone, etc.)
    -The old client is gone, even if you don't own Reforged you're forced into replacing it if you ever connect to battlenet. (Classic will go to the new menu and chat system (No Ref graphics)
    -Classic graphics in Ref client look worse (Miss shadows, saturation is off, miss spells/effects)
    -No more "/commands"
    -Removed the Dryad's "I'm so wasted" joke voice line, and probably more other units lines.
    -Removed custom game filter
    -No more built-in auto tournament function
    -No MMR system
    -No more Reign of Chaos balance for the RoC campaign (changed to TFT)
    -The end of match summary doesn't tell you useful info like before
    -No more 3D animated portraits in B.net
    -No more 3D animated campaign backgrounds
    -No more The Frozen Throne menu screen
    -No more B.net News section
    -No more cross-chat with Diablo 2 players

    I hope they will add/restore all of the good things via updates/patches, and then maybe these games (at least old one) will be playable again.

    I hope someday we will find out what happened during development of Reforged. The story of what led to such atrocities and abominations. What went wrong? Oversight? Laziness? Time constraints? Plain unconcern? Greed?

    Release of this game is finally convinced me that this is the end of old Blizzard that cared and respected themsethemselves, their work, people that play and love their games. Now it is Activision-Blizzard. RIP dear heroes of the past. This comment from the internet completely manifests my soul state right now: “Don’t you miss the days when video games were made by nerds instead of by businessmen? I do.”    … Expand

    Retroactively ruining great games in blatant cash grabs? Sounds like the next big thing in AAA video game companies. Reforged itself being bad is sad enough, but the fact that it actually goes out of its way to impose its flaws on the original game is truly disgusting. Let's hope this fiasco teaches Blizzard that they can't release bug-ridden, flawed games and get away with it.

    Pre-purchased it right after the announcement on Blizzcon, such a clear bait and switch scam. Guess I should stop supporting blizzard as a company, Activision greed took it over. :-(

    The base game is still very good after all this year, however this "Reforged" edition is a massive disappointment for old players. Released version does not contain improvements that were promised in the 2018 reveal: New UI, Reforged Cutscenes... On the other side the original game now suffers from removed features that were present a few months ago.     This game truly deserves a 0.. in fact if it could get a negative score I think that would be appropriate. Not only does the game not even come close to delivering what is advertised, it actually forcibly removes a product you already paid for from your machine and install 28GB of unnecessary data onto your drive against your will.     Encountered multiple bugs and error and blizzard have not provide any solutions to date. I.e. "error handling message" which pop out once uninstall the game and I wasnt able to start the game at all.

    I preordered it over a year in advance because I was so excited, but Blizzard decided to scam their customers. It’s a $30-$40 retexturing mod. That’s it. Not worth any amount of money. Buying this game basically just lets Blizzard know that they can get away with blatantly lying to customers.

    This is not a "remake" but a downgrade. They destroyed a Classic. This would be forgivable if it was done by some indie company, but it's "Blizzard". I'm disappointed. The game disconnects, the graphics and animation are slow, the matchmaking is unbalanced and most players don't even play the classic one. So they will stick with this puke.

    Since they started making 'Reforged', they also started removing good things from the 'original' release, destroying the community which kept the old version alive. Good thing I had a backup of my 15 GBs of maps. I really can not think of one good thing about the new game. It does not even have clans right now. Not to mention disrespect they gave to the original creators of the game. I could maybe give them some break if they had not officially and finally killed original version of the game.    … Expand

    I've played SC and WC3 both since beta and release. I started playing WC3 in 2002 and is currently and will always be my favorite game of all time. I also tried to stay away from the hate and I played many hours of reforging's ladder and can say with complete confidence that the hate going around from the community is 100% warranted. It's WC3 2002, classic with a reskinned version, that'sI've played SC and WC3 both since beta and release. I started playing WC3 in 2002 and is currently and will always be my favorite game of all time. I also tried to stay away from the hate and I played many hours of reforging's ladder and can say with complete confidence that the hate going around from the community is 100% warranted. It's WC3 2002, classic with a reskinned version, that's what you are paying for. The graphics aren't even good, many of the models are way worse than the original WC3, icons look terrible online. No ladder, no competitive play. The UI is horrible, the unit pathing is even worse, bugs everywhere, way too many bugs to name from 500 ping on a KR server. There are no dedicated servers. This is an absolute garbage fire of a game and the only positive I can see is that there are more players, playing the game now. That won't be sustained because anyone that is actually playing the game seriously is using classic graphics because of the clear disadvantage of using new graphics because of micro and macro bugs. Blizzard, I hope you seriously never recover from this. It's not that I don't want you to, but I don't really see it.

    There's no amount of apology that you can give for this stunt. The best you could hope for is to actually give us what you said you would and maybe many years after laying low, people will actually trust your products again. I can't believe they didn't realize that even LESSER stunts have completely and absolutely destroyed companies.    … Expand

    Before I begin the bones of this review, I just want to say how much this game really means to me. It was one of the first games I ever played on PC and is the reason I’ve gotten into the genre of RTS in the first place. Ive logged hundreds if not thousands of hours into classic and seeing such a memorable piece brought to such a low standard is not saddening, it’s disappointing. AsideBefore I begin the bones of this review, I just want to say how much this game really means to me. Ive logged hundreds if not thousands of hours into classic and seeing such a memorable piece brought to such a low standard is not saddening, it’s disappointing. Aside from the endless technical issues (endless frame rate issues, problems accessing multiplayer, crashes, and many more), the true issues of this game are not with the game itself. In fact, the game itself if is probably a 5 or 6. Such issues can be fixed with later patches and updates as most games in the modern area are. However, the complete and utter disregard that this company has shown towards its fans is the truly most egregious thing that has happened in the industry in quite a long time. The company has completely ignored what core fans of this game are truly wanting. For a price of $30, the game should be given more than just a re-skin. What should have been delivered is what was promised: four hours of cinematic cutscenes, updated story element, updated unit animations, and many other great ideas. They have Not only failed to the expectations of their fans, but the expectations that the original members of Blizzard’s original development team strive for: a game that serves the player base. To top it off, the ridiculous changes to the EULA is my main drawback with this game. Custom content is one of the factors that gave nearly endless hours of replayability to classic. Of the many hours I’ve logged with this game, nearly 70% of it has been with user created contend in regards to custom campaigns and maps. This kind of innovation that could be found in the classic game has been nearly totally obliterated. Not only are custom campaigns utilizing bank data completely unplayable in the ways that they were intended, this company has discouraged all the wonderful, intelligent, and innovative content creators within the community from continuing projects that have years of investment and from creating new content from fear that their hard work will be stolen from them and used by this company for their own profit. It is such a disappointment to me that a once great company such as blizzard has done this to their fans and followers and all in the sake of profit. I have been a longtime fan of all things blizzard (WC3, Starcraft 1 and 2, WOW, HOTS, and others) despite the downward trend I have noticed in the company over the last couple of years. Because of this complete mockery of a childhood memory and a once great game, it has pushed me away from Blizzard indefinitely. I’d love to say RIP to this company, but it’s hard to wish peace on a group of people who have consciously done something so outlandish to one of the hallmarks of the video game industry. I’d love to give this game a zero, but out of the respect that I hold for the game that this shameful, money grabbing title is based off of, I am forced to give the title a one.… Expand

    Blizzard has addressed some of the complaints and criticism hurled its way, and has promised to work on many of these issues. Naturally, one must ask why the game was released in such a state, especially considering the negative attention the company has garnered over the past year with the reveal of Diablo Immortal and the Blizzard/China controversy.

    In the end it’s worth noting that when viewing a remake or remaster what needs to be taken into consideration is the source material, how it looks, feels, and plays. That is, in addition to the work carried out to recreate moments, update visuals, and change any of the presentation. To do otherwise would be silly, a terrible game with a wonderful remaster doesn’t warrant a high score. In the case of Warcraft III, the inverse to that is also true. So, what we end up with is something in-between. A classic reborn, in a package that doesn’t warrant all that much in the way of celebration.
