The game is a load screen simulator
enter your ship - > loading screen -> sit at console and "take off" -> loading screen -> choose new planet -> loading screen -> select landing site on planet -> loading screen -> exit ship -> loading screen -> "explore" most planets i've encountered where empty rocky snowy templates with 1 structure every 1k km and the story was mid

This is a game about space without space. Lazy loadings everywhere, this game belongs to 2013, not 2023. Outrageous how can a big company do such dumb moves. Moreover - poor optimization and recommendations? Upgrade your PC! Cmon Todd, Red Dead Redemption 2 graphically much more better and works much more smooth even on low end systems, this is lazy talk about "upgrade your system". This made the game unplayable for some people, and it also diminished the overall experience for those who were able to get it working, Starfield still feels unfinished and unpolished. The facial animations are stiff and unnatural, the AI of the non-player characters is rudimentary, and the game world is often empty and lifeless.
Repetitive quests: The quests in Starfield are mostly repetitive and uninspired. They often boil down to fetching items, killing enemies, or exploring the same few locations over and over again. This makes the game feel tedious and boring after a while.
Lack of innovation: Starfield is a derivative game that doesn't do anything new or groundbreaking. It feels like a rehash of other Bethesda games, such as Skyrim and Fallout 4. This lack of innovation makes Starfield feel stale and outdated.
Overall, Starfield is a disappointing game that falls short of its potential. It is buggy, unpolished, repetitive, and unoriginal. If you are looking for a good space RPG, then there are better options available.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game was terrible. The graphics were outdated and glitchy, the controls were clunky and unresponsive, and the gameplay was repetitive and boring. It felt like a waste of time and money. The storyline was also weak and uninteresting. Overall, I would not recommend this game to anyone and wish I had never played it. Expand

The game can forgive a lot, but not boredom. Disgusting gameplay, empty planets, playing in space is completely absent. Quests are extremely boring. Please, bethesda, change the engine and hire a good game designer for fallout 5 and tes 6

The dialogue is really really weak and cringe most of the time. The water is the worst in the most recent games, there is almost no ripple when you swim or shoot, cyberpunk blows this game out of the water :^).
Ohh and the bugs, hooooly you can get stuck on starting planet, enemies don't spawn, you can fall out the map when you pick up new weapons, enemies teleport around you when they spawn like police in Cyberpunk. Maybe the modders will be making the game decent over the years...

Optimization, what's that? You just have a pc potato

Next gen loads on every action and 30 fps on low settings at 50% render scale because you have a potato pc and the optimization is good, just buy a rtx4090 and i9 13900k. What's the problem? Yes, Todd Howard?

I just created the account for rating this game zero, not because I’m a ps fanboy or anything. Just because this game literally have zero optimization and also because they make explanations like “buy a better pc our game is ok” Make your game console exc next time and don’t let us deal with your bs.

So disapointed...This is such a generic and shallow RPG full of reused assets, boring quests and randomized encounters and environments...Dialogues are very poor in comparison to many modern RPGs. There are some good moments with the excellent sound and music but i just don't want to launch this game anymore...Another game overestimated by mainstream media...

Was really hyped for it but the stupid AI was really a downer. Also for more space exploration and better optimization of the game as performance can be only improved with mods... yeah and contentwise you also need mods as otherwise it gets boring way to fast...

    - Loading screens are everywhere taking you out of the game.
    - The 1000's of planets are very cut/paste
    - No atmospheric flight or taking off/landing on planets
    - Horrible UI - Enemy and friendly AI that gets stuck in walls, stop moving, fall through the floor and regularly bug out.
    - Extremely basic ship combat.
    - Absolutely terrible performance with nothing in the game to justify why that is, since it doesn't look that much better than fallout 4 that runs far, far better.
    - NPC faces look incredibly bad at times.
    - Claims to be a "next gen" game yet doesn't even have things like ray tracing.
    - The majority of the companions are annoying

The main thing for me is the terrible performance for a game that looks outdated.
Theres no big background simulation like in the X games that justifies CPU usage, not is there next level lighting, shadows or effects that justifying GPU usage.

All in all, next to diablo 4 as the biggest disappointments of the year and from a guy that says "just upgrade your pc" honestly a joke.

I fell in love with Starfield. It's my cup of sci-fi and I can't wait to spend the next thirty, fifty, maybe seventy hours here. I enjoy the exploration, the shootouts, the art style, the ship building, and the diverse worlds. I gratefully acknowledge the good optimization and the absence of major bugs. But I can't overlook the flaws. There are bad animations, ugly faces and repetitive moments.[Issue#329]

In a year dominated by sequels to franchise favorites, there was a hope that Starfield would carve its own path to success. While the team at Bethesda should be commended for taking such a big swing, there’s no denying that the game doesn’t feel like a cohesive work. Maybe continued support and future sequels will make something more meaningful out of a work that is clearly deeply enamored with both science fiction and space exploration. Unforunately, this first launch has had far more mixed results than desired.
