How could such a hack be done? I am sure that the game was originally planned as an MMO in space, but after the failure of Fallout 76, they began to remake it into a single player. I don't like Skyrim and especially Fallout 4, but at least the locations were made by hand.
But thanks to Starfield ive gave the ME Andromeda the second chance, and Andromeda not so bad compare to that masterpiece.

It's the most underwhelming game I've played since "Redfall" (another Bethesda disaster). You can like whatever you want but the combat (space and ground) is generic AF, it's chocked full of loading screens, and the menus are clunky. That's not even getting into all the technical issues (past having no working HDR10 support on PC at launch in 2023).

There's no warning that your ship's shields have dropped and you're now taking hull damage apart from taking your eyes off of combat to look in the bottom right corner of the screen. The game has lock-on missiles, but doesn't bother to tell you if there's any way to avoid those when fired at your ship.

The characters are more annoying than anything else, nearly constantly criticizing anything and everything you do. "Why do you have to try to carry everything?" "We're not going to help this person are we?" "Glad you're finally done sleeping." Jesus Christ Bethesda, if I wanted to get nagged in my down time I'd move back in with my mom.

Avoid the game until the modding community fixes most of it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game, for me, is just a gigantic disappointment. I remember Todd Howard talking about the moments were the player "discovered" the world of a game, like exiting the Vault in Fallout, and how they made Starfield with two of those moments, one for discovering your world and the other for discovering "the universe". That got me hypped... They showed the ship customization and all that incredible stuff... But when I've played the game and found out that the "space exploration" was fast traveling... Yeah... Niiiiice... Didn't knew I was "space traveling" since Skyrim.

Besides that, the gameplay is just generic... It's an generic FPS. Nothing special, really. No VATS, no finishing move, no nothing... You go, you shoot the enemy, the enemy is like a bullet sponge, at some point it dies... Yay, innovation at its peak.

The NPCs are just boring... The animations and voice acting are just bad. I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years they come out and reveal that it was all A.I. generated. And one of them, spoiler warning, jump to the next paragraph if you want to play this game, wouldn't stop following me until I finished a quest I didn't signed up for. I was going to go with him retrieve an artifact from some place in a planet called Akila. Arriving there the bank was getting robbed. I just said to the guard "I'll keep that in mind" and tried to move on. The mayor started talking with us and there was NO WAY of not getting involved, of not helping them, not being the "good guy"... I tried, but the freaking space cowboy steps up and say "my friend can be your solution"... I don't want to be the solution. I left the planet and tried to move on to other quests, but the space cowboy wouldn't stop following me until I've finished it's quest. I've tried to kill him, it was impossible. I closed the game, uninstalled and went back to Baldur's Gate 3, a real RPG.

This game is just garbage.. I was going to give it a 3 out of 10, but as I was writting I just noticed that it is a 1 out of 10 at best. Mods probably will save it at some point, but man... This is just sad. Never buying a Bethesda game before trying it for at least 50 hours.

If you want to play it, go for it... If you're after an awesome RPG, just play Baldur's Gate.. Or other Bethesda games if you haven't tried them yet. TES Oblivion and Skyrim, or FO3, FONV and/or FO4 are waaaaaaay better than Starfield. And way cheaper too.

The studio is best known for unforgettable experiences.

Now Starfield is a whole new beast. It's not the type of game you measure by play hours.
but rather by individual stories and discoveries. You've got to play it at your own pace.
like the explorer the game wants you to be.

If you have the right hardware, the game can push out some of the best visuals I have ever seen.
The designers over at BGS have created the world with mindbogling detail especially on space stuff.
The art style is a breath of fresh air.and sets a more realistic tone for what humans can achieve
    in the not-so-distant future.

A galaxy full of stories and history that feels alive and gives you the impression
that everything can happen at every turn.

    Cons :

I would like space travel to be more fluid and make me feel that I am actually traveling with my ship,
not a sim,but not constantly having to go through menus to go somewhere.

Slow UI and complicated menu navigation that doesn't feel very intuitive, although developers
have implemented a lot of quality of life stuff, like being able to sell directly from the ship inventory, and others.
The Fast travel option is ok due to the nature of the game but traveling between planets could have been more than just a loading screen.

    Conclusion :

There is a kind of romanticism about BGS worlds and stories. A sense of noble endeavors that we like so much, and Starfield may be the best one yet!

A big thanks to the moding community for elevating the game from day one!

    10/10: Another unforgetable experience.

This game is one big mess. It looks like an antique and still has very high hardware requirements, be prepared for 30 frames on good hardware. Title: A Disappointing Descent: The Last Bestheda Game Review

Starfield is a game that promised so much but ultimately falls short in almost every aspect, leaving players with a bitter taste of disappointment. From its lackluster gameplay to its uninspired story, this game feels like a mere shadow of what it could have been.

    Underwhelming Gameplay:
The gameplay in Starfield is a mixed bag of mechanics borrowed from other, better games. Combat feels clunky and unpolished, with awkward animations and unresponsive controls. The open-world exploration, which is typically a hallmark of Bethesda games, is plagued by numerous bugs and performance issues that hinder immersion.

    Tedious Quests:
The main story and side quests are riddled with clichés and offer little in the way of originality. Players are often tasked with mundane objectives that lack depth and fail to engage the player's interest. The dialogue options feel meaningless, as choices rarely have any impact on the narrative.

    Technical Nightmares:
One of the most glaring issues with Starfield is its technical instability. Frequent crashes, game-breaking bugs, and long loading times make for a frustrating gaming experience. It's as if the game was rushed to release without proper optimization and quality control.

    Graphical Stagnation:
Graphically, Starfield is a far cry from the standards set by other contemporary titles. The character models are bland and lack detail, while the environments lack the breathtaking beauty that players have come to expect from open-world games. The art direction feels uninspired, and the game world lacks the visual diversity that would make exploration worthwhile.

    Empty World:
Despite being an open-world game, the world of Starfield feels strangely empty. There are vast stretches of land with little to no meaningful content, leaving players with little incentive to explore. The lack of interesting NPCs and settlements further exacerbates the feeling of emptiness.

In conclusion, Starfield is a game that fails to live up to the expectations set by previous Bethesda titles. It's a perfect example of how a promising concept can be marred by poor execution. With its unimpressive gameplay, technical issues, and lack of innovation, it's difficult to recommend this game to anyone looking for a fulfilling gaming experience. Bethesda must take a hard look at its development practices and prioritize quality over profit if it hopes to win back the trust of its once-loyal fan base.

Let me start with what I like.

Graphics looks pretty darn good, by and large. There’s some weird anomalies like the wide eyed stare, and there are visual glitches. Some planets look a bit weak but those total 5% of what I’ve seen. The other 95% looks great - textures and models of all the gear, the human built environments, all beautiful.

Voice acting is usually ok. There’s a lot of cartoony over the top voices that sound like sarcasm. Music is beautiful. It all loads pretty fast on my Series S, thank goodness because of the many loading screens. I don’t think I’m out of the first act of the main story but I’m following along, enough - it’s fine!

Already from my positives though you can see it’s not blown me away really.

    The bad:

The games mechanics are confusing, it is taking me forever to understand how I store, trade, keep, upgrade, etc all the gear. Hard to understand menu navigation when traveling, hard to understand how to survey planets (I spent 2 hours on my first planet going in circles until I regretfully looked up help online. There are annoying enemy bugs where they clip through walls; they get me but I can’t get them. They blend into the environment too much; the areas colors are usually just 2-3 main similar colors, and muted and muddy. Many times I can’t see the enemy because they wear those same colors plus all the smoke hides everyone.

I hate getting around. We are given an entire universe, but no great way to traverse it. Menu systems for ship travel are complex, confusing, and convoluted. Opening up a menu, selecting a planet, traveling, getting to the planet, but not actually landing on it, opening the menu, again, selecting an area on the planet, traveling again, watching the cut scene of the ship landing… terrible. Sometimes the planet needs to scan you for contraband, other times, not. Sometimes you can leave directly from being docked, other times you have to undock yourself. When you’re on the planet, you can’t run for long without running out of oxygen, that can run out even faster if you’re over encumbered, and when you’re over encumbered, you can’t fast travel. There are no vehicles. And you are running around these empty planets with nothing really interesting to do or look at as you make your way to the one area to get an artifact, or special ability or resource/trait. You can fast travel back to your ship… but only if you aren’t encumbered.

Characters talk over each other all the time. The gunplay has been a struggle. Aiming either feels like I am pulling the cursor through syrup or it has a booster engine and shoots my crosshair across the screen if I barely touch it. I’ve tried so many aim sensitivity settings but I think I am making small improvements only because I am learning to work within these confines. I have yet to find much ammo for one of the guns I really want to use.

Speaking of guns - what the actual EFF is with the lack of automatic ammo pick up? To get ammo for your gun, you have to pick up a gun that uses the same ammo. The ammo will automatically show up on your HUD but now you have to do something with the gun. With such limited inventory, I am dropping the guns all the time, and it really slows down the momentum of the game. . After spending 15 minutes walking in a slow straight line across a boring empty planet, when I finally find enemies to shoot, I don’t want to spend most of that time opening my menu to drop guns. Even a game considered one of the most realistic, RDR2, allows you to just walk near an enemy and the ammo is automatically picked up.

There is some good, but at this point there isn’t enough good to make me want to leave the main story again. At the moment, it’s entertaining enough that I will continue the main story for now, but I have a lot of other games I want to get to and star field has felt more like it’s stealing my time more than me enjoying my time with it.

How the hell is this underperforming you ask, well let me tell you, a garbage game engine and lazy optimization.

Let's get passed the stuttery immersion-breaking performance (with DLSS and optimization mods - not much of a difference). Next, I would like to invite you to Bugfield gameplay:
    * Objects spinning out of control.
    * Companion getting stuck on terrain.
    * Objects clipping through doors.
    * Jetpack appearing as if from nowhere, and disappearing when you stop using it???
    * Headless NPCs in conversation.
    * Invisible companion NPC in scripted conversations, probably still stuck somewhere...
    * Bugged enemy AI - Shooting the floor, taking cover while half of their body is open (literally my 8-year-old cousin is better at hiding).
    * Bugged space combat.
    And many many more.

In terms of gameplay, most of it is spent in menus either playing the inventory accountant or "traveling through space" by basically being teleported everywhere...
Oh, and when you land in a city for the first time, the game doesn't have a map, so good luck finding store locations.

This game literally insults your intelligence by trying to waste your valuable time with random tasks like fetch quests. 0 innovation whatsoever.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this trash altogether and go spend your valuable time playing something else.

There's a lot of flaws in space in Starfield. But that does not prevent me from exploring our galaxy again and again.

I fell in love with Starfield. It's my cup of sci-fi and I can't wait to spend the next thirty, fifty, maybe seventy hours here. I enjoy the exploration, the shootouts, the art style, the ship building, and the diverse worlds. I gratefully acknowledge the good optimization and the absence of major bugs. But I can't overlook the flaws. There are bad animations, ugly faces and repetitive moments.[Issue#329]

In a year dominated by sequels to franchise favorites, there was a hope that Starfield would carve its own path to success. While the team at Bethesda should be commended for taking such a big swing, there’s no denying that the game doesn’t feel like a cohesive work. Maybe continued support and future sequels will make something more meaningful out of a work that is clearly deeply enamored with both science fiction and space exploration. Unforunately, this first launch has had far more mixed results than desired.
