There shouldn't be any excuse as to why this game isn't optimized to PC and telling people to upgrade their PC when using a high-end PC in unacceptable. I had to restart the tutorial twice because of a game breaking crash as one of the major cutscenes was loading. Every time I talk to an NPC or one of the essential characters in the game their animations lag and sometimes the screen will freeze and you have to wait for the game to catch up. This is after I reset the display setting multiple times. I'm so glad I didn't buy this game at full price because it's not worth it right now. I'm considering dropping it altogether until patches are out. Expand

The reality is that no company should be rewarded for stagnating in every aspect of their game development process and its end result. I like the game as I have liked previous Bethesda titles warts and all but I cannot in good conscience say it is a step in any direction except maybe a step back from previous titles. The engine they refuse to update looks worse with each new title released, better lighting and shadows, sure, but to me it just looks like lipstick on a pig. Endless loading screens instead of a seamless experience of exploration and true role-playing. NPC's and facial animations are a real disappointment after playing games like Witcher 3, Death Stranding and Baldur's Gate 3 and one of these is from eight years ago. Just nostalgia for Bethesda games shouldn't excuse their sloppiness. They have the massive backer that is Microsoft now so they really have no excuse (not that they had one before in my opinion) as a AAA developer to deliver such a sub-par product for 2023 while other much smaller studios with a fraction of their resources deliver something amazing both in looks and feel! The gunplay is improved over fallout but the enemy AI is atrocious.
Most of the game is pregenerated (I hope you like seeing the same enemy bases over any over again).
And while the game does get better after you beat it, you shouldn't have to beat a game for it to finally become enjoyable. While in years past I could see starfeild being much better , in a year of such quality the stinkers really show.

The main story is disappointingly short, riddled with clichés, and lacks engagement, particularly in the initial 10-12 hours. The script writing often veers into laughably bad territory, with voices and dialogue feeling somewhat generic. Space combat feels basic and lacks excitement. Outpost building lacks inspiration, demanding too much time and initial investment.

Graphics are passable at best, with facial animations and overall animation feeling stiff and outdated. Performance issues, especially in the UI and inventory, are unforgivable. The game's performance on powerful configurations is embarrassingly poor.

The portrayal of the entire Galaxy as distinctly American, from architecture to mass culture, feels out of touch with the potential for diverse and rich world-building.

There is little noticeable progress from previous titles like Skyrim or Fallout 4. The same engine-related bugs, loading screens, and AI issues persist. Interactions with the environment are often comically flawed, with players and companions frequently getting stuck. Companion AI is surprisingly ineffective, serving more as a bullet shield than a useful ally.

The engine's outdated status since 2015 is painfully evident, with reused assets and ideas contributing to a sense of creative stagnation.

This release falls far short of what one would expect in 2023. I give it a modest 5/10 rating, perhaps future updates or modder contributions will breathe new life into this title, but for now, it feels like an archaic, poorly optimised product.

For a company of this magnitude, the state in which this game was released is inexcusable.

Bethesda have gotten lazy riding the success of Skyrim for too long and it shows. Starfield is a disappointing game that falls flat on multiple fronts. Overall the game is a bore, it often feels like a chore than a game as I try to find some resemblance of immersion or fun.

The entire world is bland and it feels like the game was designed by committee with very little of a unifying vision which never shines through.

The main story lacks excitement, and the characters are lifeless and forgettable. I don't think I can remember even one name. The dated AI and gameplay mechanics leave much to be desired, making it feel like a relic from a bygone era and it relies too much on a cheap looter shooter mechanic gameplay loop. Seeing a gun with random stats and a fancy colored name just doesn't cut it as engaging gameplay if the entire game around that is lacking.

The role playing aspects are seriously barebone and the Bethesda team need to consider finding some fresher and more passionate writers. The story is boring and the entire attitude of the game is milquetoast. The dialogue is a cross between millenial writing and marvel avengers-esque which leaves a sour taste in my mouth and makes me feel the writing team are too old and out of their depth or lack any imagination or talent.

Exploration is virtually non-existent, since the game relies heavily on a tedious menu-driven fast travel to get about. As a player I was expecting to fly in space to different worlds. This is not the case. You do not explore space in this game in your ship. You fast travel to different planets and run in a straight line in a 100m x 100m square patch to one of the dozen randomly generated sci fi dungeons which you soon memorise the layouts by heart. Exploration is perhaps its most disheartening aspect of the game as it was heavily marketed as "The Skyrim" in space. Unfortunately they never innovated their old game engine and the studio relies too heavy on randomly generated content rather than the hand crafted world building the studio was known for.

The ship building is my favorite part of the game and I think the team did a great job making it. It's cool how you can drag components together and this reflects to an actual walkable and liveable space in the gameworld. Too bad the ships serve very little purpose apart from a space dog fight minigame.

A lackluster and mediocre experience for those seeking an engaging sci-fi adventure.

Graphics in bulletstorm full clip edition are better than this game which is sad. Gun play is slow and clunky, movement is clunky, menus are terrible, and as usual you spend 90% of the time talking to NPC’s and running errands for them they could easily do themselves just to get to the actual task at hand. 90 % filler. - performance is really bad, the worst optimized game of 2023, had to go through multiple tweaks just to make it playable, go look up the benchmarks.

    - UI is straight garbage and confusing, had to install some like 5/6 mods to not get a headache everytime i open a tab.

-The game is missing basic features that are considered standard in every **** rpg and some videogames, like FOV, Gamma and Texture settings; no local map, so looking for whatever shop you need is a **** nightmare. let's not forget that you can't change the piss yellow tint, so unless you install mods, you're stuck with bad color grading and washed out blacks .

-No tutorials, like, wtf? the ship builder tutorial is basically " yo this the ship builder, have fun".

-Main quest is easily the worst one bethesda has ever put out, you get shoehorned into the story with no nuance and it doesn't get any better as you progress, it's basically get artifact, report back to npc, go get another artifact, until you have all of them and you can start the most unsatisfying and unrewarding NG+ to ever exist; the writing is trash, unimaginative and lacks depth, it's just so funny that some secondary quests are leagues above the main one when it comes to all these factors

-Facial animations are dated and so jarring that they can't even make an attempt at helping the, most the times, poor VA, and it doesn't help that many times you can't skip dialogues cause you're not part of the conversation so you just stand there watching basically animatronics talking bout **** that you don't even care about. BG3 facial animations, while not perfect, are miles ahead.

-Some Features are just straight up useless, for example, do you want to sell a ship you just stole? Cool, you sell the ship for 11k credits, but first you have to register it for 80% the original value, so you get like 2K and maybe you can get a couple med packs with those. Oh, you want to cannibalize the stolen ship and remove maybe the weapons so you can install them on your ship? too bad, you can't do that.
Fuel is Aesthetic and just a number that represents how far you can get with your Grav drive, there's no actual fuel mechanic; subjective? maybe, but for me it's a wasted opportunity and it breaks immersion

-Talking bout immersion, loading screens and fast travelling for every **** thing that you do is easily the worst design choice of the entire game, it's immersion breaking in the worst way possible; you want to travel to another solar system? brief cutscene of the grav drive engaging and then loading screen. you want to land on that planet? you get the last 5 seconds of the landing and then a loading screen; space is just another instance where you have ship combat and that's it, and the worst part is that they didn't even try to hide or mask it.

The perk system is a **** joke and locks basic mechanics that previous BSG games had already at the start; you want the stealth meter or the ability to use your jetpack, which you get from the beginning? spend a point. you want to combat slide? spend a point. the worst part is that to level up perks you have to beat challenges that get more unfair the further you get with the ranks, to get to the "more settlements" perk rank 4 you have to go to 10 different planets and place a beacon and an airlock, if it sounds fun to you, cheers. you want decorations to cost 50% less to build? better get ready to fill your outpost with 50 tables and waste your precious materials. Weight feeds into the perk system, as the base weight is very low and just 5 minutes of looting makes you cumbersome, so even more perk points lost.

-XP gets crazy low after completing the main quest which gets you to just around level 20 or some. apart from like 4/5 secondary quests which are actually good and the best content of the entire game, the rest of them is item fetching garbage that barely gives you any xp, so good luck leveling basically anything after a while.

-There's no land vehicle, which according to mr Howard, is a design choice. so cool to walk 1km across empty, barren wastelands just to get to a POI that I will probably see again on the next planet that I land on, with exactly the same layout and loot.

So, the only standouts of the game is It's aesthetics and the ship builder, and even that has its flaws. Anyway, im reaching the character limit.

Just get it on gamepass if you want to play it, otherwise go play other SCI-FI games which are way more fun and immersive, like no man's sky, mass effect or outer worlds. Better yet, go play BG3 which came out last month and it's worth playing

I fear for TES 6 And this **** company that refuses to grow and seems to be stuck in 2008.

Cuatro balas y a volar.

Sometimes your follower will get stuck and when you go to talk to another npc where your follower has is supposed to be part of the dialogue, the screen will start teleporting back and forth because of the stuck follower. The base building and cargo shipment system seems completely redundant, which was one of the things i was most excited about for the game. Theres very little point in even having a base besides the upgrading benches you can find in the lodge anyway. Theres barely any customization, you have 4 pre set shapes of rooms you can have, instead of building your own shaped house, you only have the option to choose a square or a circle and connect to the same looking square and circle shaped rooms. The next issue is resource gathering, i went all out on resource gathering on the skill tree, which turned out to be completely pointless because even fully specced into it, going to the various cities and buying out the resources from vendors (which by the way costs close to nothing) turned out to be about 50 times faster than grinding it yourself. This also made the cargo transportation system you can have completely pointless too. The combat is equal to a 2005 FPS game and theres no mob variety at all. The main quest was miserable for 95% of it and the first half of it was basically doing the same quest 20 times over and over again, even 2 of the quests taking you to a location with identical building, identical mobs and an identical underground bunker location. Only during the last 3-4 hours of the main story did the quests get somewhat interesting. Those are just some of the issues, the game has a lot of problems, the potential is there after 4-5 patches or letting modders do their thing. All in all its just an okay game, nothing special and wouldnt recommend anyone buying it until it goes on sale. Expand

Sadly Starfield seems to have abandoned this for "live another mediocre scifi show" because that's what it feels like. Gone is the expansive, immersive open world previous titles have had you emerge blinking into. Worlds in which you could see a distant mountain and set off with the goal to find it and climb it, discovering along the way countless adventures. Replaced with a quest log, cut scenes and loading screens whisking you from one soulless level to another, sure many technically exist on open world maps but you would be forgiven for not noticing as the relevance it has to the gameplay. If you do decide to "explore" a planet you find nothing but endless tracts of randomly scatted rocks, plants and critters separating icon marked copy pastes of the POIs.

There is no sense of distance or scale, no permanence or solidity to the world the game proports to put you in. All of which I might forgive if the writing, hand crafted locations and characters were more memorable or coherent but even here the game fails to impress. I can't help but feel like the hard working and skilled folks at Bethesda just didn't have their hearts in this game. I hope they can find their passion and grove again in time for TES6.

Honestly it isn't terrible and I would give it more than a 4 if it were from a different studio. But this is a Bethesda game, it has to be judged in relation to the likes of TES and Fallout and in that respect it falls so far short of those greats its rather a sad state of affairs.

In the same vein, Fallout went from having robust rpg systems and learning curve, through F3 which changed the formula to fallout 4 which was stripped of most of its rpg elements and turned into a shooter with vats, still it was worth exploring cause the world was hand crafted and there was **** to discover.
That leads us to Midfield, with which Bethesda completely abandoned any pretense of trying. Either they dont care anymore or they simply dont have the people who brought quality to their games. Nothing that made Bethesda games good or enjoyable is here. Exploration is a waste of time, most planets are straight up empty and added only to increase size of the shallow puddle. There is no world/universe building or history to speak of. No deep systems to engage with, other than building your own ship if you are into that, but why would you if the space battles are mostly skippable and the space combat is attrocious and ship travel between and within planets is just a cutscene. Skill tree would be good enough if the skills worked as they are supposed to. Combat itself is horrid, melee isnt viable at all and gunplay has no weight behind it, plus the variety of gun types is pathetic. Even more pathetic is the variety of enemy types, its pretty much nonexistent, there is no intelligent non human life btw, few useless monster types, but 90% of the time you are fighting humans, in case of bosses, they are half humans, half sponges, some teleport. Writing is dog****, the dialogues are waste of time, following the "story" is a waste of time, trying to get to know your companions is a waste of time and the twist at the end is the most cliche scifi trope anyone could imagine. And its full of ugly npcs and ESG slop bethesda gladly servers you in excess of whats mandated to meet the quota.
In other words, there is no way to play starfield and make it enjoyable, if you have any standards for quality of anything. Be it the story, worldbuilding, exploration or combat. Unless you are proffesional ship designer, starfield has nothing to offer you.
Oh and everything I said concerns only the vision and idea of the game itself, even if the game was polished and technically sound, it would still be mediocre in every way, but ofc its not technically sound, its plagued with bugs and disgusting optimazation.

There's also several features missing; where is the diving? Why almost no blood/gore? Why no vehicle to traverse on land? Why no free flying in space, only fast travel? Why no maps?

Has potential to be good though, but that is assuming BGS or modders fix the performance, removes the woke and adds missing features (it will probably not be BGS doing these things....)

It just misses the mark. There are SO many issues I could talk about - I actually wrote out a list. I doubt anyone wants to read that though so the main points are that
    1) The narrative of the quests and companions are not engaging enough. That is to say, most of the game is quite boring. Occasionally there is an interesting character or interesting event, but it's not enough
    2) The performance is not good and the game doesn't even look that good
    3) The combat is too bare bones. It's just too boring. The AI is bad, itemization isn't interesting, etc.
    4) There UI and systems are too much of a mess. I have to Google things WAY to much. There needs to be WAY more tutorials.
    5) The planets are too ridiculously similar to each other and too ridiculously similar to Earth
    6) Surveying the different planets is too ridiculously tedious and unrewarding. So are building outposts. There not being any kind of grav bike or other land vehicle to use is also very stupid.
    7) The NPCs are so ridiculously unrealistic and dialogue is poorly done. This is especially embarrassing when you compare it to works by Larian and CD Projekt Red

The menu system is so blatantly designed for controllers, it is incredibly awkward and unintuitive to use with mouse and keyboard.

My recommendation on Starfield right now is to wait 1 or 2 months and see what Bethesta can fix in terms of bugs and issues. Some of the issues might sadly be too problematic to even fix. Combat AI for example. But until these issues are sorted, the game is simply not worth playing - knowing it could be done better. The game is only 4 out of 10 until these fixes go through.

This game is bad. It looks like game from 2013 and i some places like from 2005, but has horrible optimization, and requires top hardware for such **** graphics. Also old engine has tons of loading screens almost everywhere. It is shame, that large studios with giant budget doing such crap in 2023. Fail of the year. And they say it is "next gen" game. -Modding community (Some great mods out there already)
    -Hasn't crashed once
    -Back to the silent protagonist
-Highly detailed misc/general items for inspecting in the inventory

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Cons:
    -Outdated Engine and it shows
-Mod potential shouldn't be relied on to fix the game/add basic features
-General lifeless NPCs - They don't react - for example: start shooting around New Atlantis, without hitting anyone and they will just continue walking as nothing happened (feels like Cyberpunk 2077 original NPCs before updates)
-Broken stealth, feels like oblivion stealh - would on occasion get caught even though no one is in the room with me/all doors closed
-Combat AI is pretty bad. Also lots of clipping and glitching out
-A few minor bugs, companions running super fast, disappearing, falling through ship etc etc.
-Loot no longer dynamic on corpses - RNG based.
-Poor optimisation. RTX 3090 / Ryzen 9 5950x @ 1440p gets around 40-50 FPS while exploring planets and cities however in small closed off areas I get around 80-120 FPS. Also lag when switching weapons, and switching scanner on and off
-Planet exploration: A lot of copy paste point's of interest - breaks the immersion a lot to have the same exact locations on different planets. Also some are just downright bad and aren't rewarding for the amount of time spent walking there
    -No diving/underwater content
-Awful UI/Inventory management. Locked to 30FPS so is a bit janky. Mods have fixed this. Highly recommend the compact UI mods on the nexus
-No local maps which is a huge pain in cities
-Quest management could be made nicer (Sorting quests into main cities would be great)
-No vechicles. I don't mind about hitting planet boundaries faster with a hover bike or something. Walking/Jetpacking can get very tedious at times
    -Over reliance on fast travel
-Way too many essential NPC's, takes immersion away if you wanted to go guns crazy

Love Bethesda games and have enjoyed Starfield so far but honestly too many cons which shouldn't be a thing for a Bethesda title in 2023. It feels like a step back in many ways, Skyrim had more reactivity from the NPC's and it came out 12 years ago. It's not terrible, but it's not great either.
If you are looking for a typical Bethesda game and like Fallout 4, you will probably enjoy Starfield. Bethesda haven't innovated or expanded their game design at all with starfield. If we aren't vocal in this, then ES6 will probably be the same .

    - every gameplay feature like weapon customization and pickpocketing is behind skill system
    - no power armor
    - landscape is generated and boring
    - worse performance
    - more bugs
    - no cool vaults/dungeons
    - character is constantly encumbered. And you can't even turn items to scrap.
    - terrible balance, companions doing 6 times your damage and immortal, healthpacks very rarely drop from enemies, this leads to safe and boring gameplay.
    - ludo narrative dissonance, often you get a quest to deal with some very dangerous people, but in reality they are some low lvl hobos that can't hurt you.
    - bad ai, super passive and with unlimited ammo they can will shoot you from distance with smg for hours even if they can't hit.
    - bad ui, instead of compact spreadsheet or icon grid you have about 6 items on screen with info only for selected items and no icons.
    - you can't fly anywhere, space part is just so you can shoot some ships or dock to a station one in a while.
    - even character editor is worse, you can't grab face parts and drag anymore.
    - quest choices are limited, your actions don't matter, you can't just kill quest npc, and they will resurrect and act like nothing happened.
    + item models are cool
+ ship building system is nice
+ 50 different models of guns and you can upgrade them, best part about the game
+ really large world, you can waste hundreds of hours (if devs and modders fix it)

That you encounter all of this within the first hour is the icing on the cake, it speaks to a lack of caring on the Bethesda side, they have to had seen these problems themselves yet they think it's good enough.

You don't 'find' things anymore - you are quested things and then you just go to the marker and do it. Rinse - repeat. There's really no point at all for space craft, since it's basically cut scenes, maybe a combat mission. Once you have visited a planet/local you'll be fast traveling there any way. There are way too many copy and paste locales, for as many years as this was in development, more hand crafted locales would have kept my interest.

    The Good:
-Finally a Bethesda game that supports ultra wide settings without messing with ini files. Something they still couldn't be bothered to update with Skyrim and the millionth release.
-Player character isn't voiced. Please never do what you did with FO4 ever again.
-Many newer AAA games put far too much focus on controllers nowadays, ignoring kb/m, but kb/m plays quite nicely

    The In between:
-Ran okay on my PC. I cap my fps to 60, and despite having a 3080 and Ryzen 7 5800x, i was having drops to the 50's. Needs heavy optimization on PC

    The Bad:
-Combat is horrible. I'm fairly casual and like simple games nowadays...but jfc combat is painfully dumb. First "boss" which you can talk your way out of just stood in the open and opened fire hardly hitting me, robot dude killed him as I stood there. So far all enemies I encountered you just stand in the open and fire at them. Might be the dumbest enemy AI I've seen, not to mention I just casually walked into areas and they didn't react until I was next to them (without crouching). Even then most of the time they wouldn't do anything.

-Ship combat is clunky and unenjoyable. NMS had the same issue but I thought a AAA 2023 title would have improved this. Also it's pretty pointless to partake in outside of the beginning tutorial for it.

-Character creation. Kinda mediocre. Hair looks as bad as always for a Bethesda game, and yet another game that thinks blond hair is yellow, white or light brown. Seriously ask Larian for their colour pallet.

-Inventory. Clunky and a massive mess to navigate through.

    -No FOV slider, again.

-Voice Acting. It's typical generic and bland v/a from a Bethesda title, but how can a company worth this much spend so little. Maybe I just got spoiled with another recent release that had amazing v/a.

-The beginning is dull. People keep saying play for 15-20 hours and then it gets good. That is beyond terrible game design. Who wants to slog through 15+ hours of bad game play?

-It's just lazy. A game this long in the making it adds absolutely nothing to the RPG genre. I can't think of any other studio that can make such lazy and uninspired games and get the "well it's a Bethesda game uwu" as if that excuses things. I don't see any way that modders can even fix this game at this point (other than performance/bug fixes, like Skyrim still needs to this day).

Starfield is basically a glorified mod of a Fallout 3 or a Skyrim.

The game feels 10 years old with decent graphics. Most characters are ugly as ass though. The "Space" part is only superficial : you don't take off, you don't flight where you want. It's more like a mini-game next to the usual formula. The story is pretty underwhelming. Don't expect anything as epic as in Skyrim

There is a big "political" controversy with the game but it feels a bit exaggerated.
I don't mind the pronoun choice and the body type 1 & 2 in the character creation as I've not been bothered with it after that point.

That being said, an overwhelming amount of your interaction with though/team boss characters will be with women. Men are a rarity in space apparently and it feels very unnatural. I guess the game is pretty woke.

You forget to add a field of view slider, something games in 2008 had, it would literally take them 5 minutes to implement it and enhance the experience for all players by a lot and those who suffer from motion sickness will actually be able to play.
You forget that almost all people want to play this in fullscreen with optional DLSS, free to choose HDAO/TXAA/SMAA and hopefully have a game this bad looking above 60 fps on a 4070tix13600k, but thats just too much to ask so we'll keep it windowed borderless running 50 fps and a medium/high/ultra slider instead different methods of anti-aliasing.
Their most notorious problem is their garbage engines and carry weight / running stamina which makes a game made for hoarding absolute torture. They probably had this problem with FO3 in 2008 and every other game since, how can they not learn?

Keep in mind that farming ores on planets is useless, you will never use the materials, they will weigh too much to carry, keep in mind that exploring planets is useless, there are close to zero if not zero npcs there and you have to run massive lengths most of the time over encumbered, not able to sprint for more than 3 seconds of the time and maybe you're lucky enough to have a talent in jetpacks with so bad physics it's actually better to leave it behind because of the weight, only to find an empty cave with materials you cant carry or an abandoned base full of loot weighing too much to carry. The combat system is as stiff and broken as Skyrim, FO4, there is nothing different at all. The weapons feel awful, all of the 20+ different I have tried. Oh and the main city looks disgusting.

I have looked forward to this game for probably 3 years and what I got is an old looking, unpolished, perhaps too vast, empty, soulless, stiff, disappointing intro, tons of too long waiting animations, the wierdest mix of characters I have ever seen, 300 years ahead in time a colony that escaped earth is still talking with indian, african and east asian accents when speaking english which would obviously be the main language for hundreds of years (Hogwarts Legacy all over again), full of bugs, incredibly rough/uneven gameplay, garbage animation and graphics for an incredibly steep price and wait time. This should have been labeled as an Alpha project and cost 20-30 usd at most. It reminds me a lot of Fallout 76 only on a much larger scale and with npcs, sometimes.

This game is Fallout 4, an 8 year old game only set in space. The flora, fauna and rock/shaders on planets are actually at times worse than FO4, at least there are modders that upscale the textures and fix the mountains of problems there, which we can only hope for in the future here.

Hm, I wonder what I actually like about it. The dialogue scene close ups with people can be good, the idea of the game in space is good, but that's just in theory. The character customization was decent, some of the armor can look decent, some textures indoors can look good. Those who designed for example the landscape on a planet vs inside a building must be so far apart in talent it's mind boggling.

Of course Meta Critic gives this game like 8-9-10/10 "incredible space journey, game of the year" though when the community reviews comes out tomorrow I'm sure we're looking at 4-5/10 depending how biased and realistic/optimistic you are.

Will force myself to try it some more but not really enjoying any of it so far.

Starfield: Disappointment in the Open Cosmos

Starfield, despite appearing to be a grand game set in an open-world space, conceals within it the corridors of monotony that often detract from the enjoyment.

One of the primary issues with Starfield is its repetitiveness. The cosmic world you're meant to explore feels perpetually the same. Every mine, every outpost, and indeed, the entire universe seems to be copied and pasted repeatedly. Enemies remain constant, turning each encounter into what feels like a mandatory task rather than an engaging experience.

As for the story, there's no meaningful connection with factions or character development. Everything revolves around a formulaic scenario where you have to go somewhere, fetch something, kill someone, or shoot something, and you won't encounter anything genuinely new. The RPG element in this game is disappointingly weak, especially when considering the quality achieved in Bethesda's previous titles like Fallout: New Vegas.

The actual spaceflight, which was supposed to be a major highlight of the game, feels strangely unsatisfying. It's more like a sped-up transit between planets, making it feel more like "fast travel" than actual space exploration. This is a massive missed opportunity for exploring the cosmos and the experiences that could have been associated with traveling between different worlds.

While you may find various plants and weather on the surface of planets, that's about the only variation the game offers. Interiors are virtually identical. Enemy encounters are monotonous, quickly becoming repetitive and dull.

Overall, Starfield is a significant letdown. You feel like you've entered an open cosmos, but in reality, you're trapped in the corridors of monotony and subpar design. If you have a choice, you might want to consider other RPG (BG3) because, unfortunately, Starfield doesn't deliver the expected experience, and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Starfield should have been the most open-ended Bethesda game to date. Instead, it is the most limited. There aren't 1000 planets to explore. There is 1 planet to explore, with a dozen or so color schemes to make it a 'new' planet. You can't actually explore the planets, or space, in a meaningful way. The best thing about this game, like so many others lately, was the marketing and hype.

Performance, such a riddle, CPU hot GPU cold,
Graphics left me puzzled, not the story we were sold.
Loading screens odd, with times way too grand,
On my speedy SSD?? Only Todd may understand.

In space, the icons jittered, like a dance out of time,
Menus were a jigsaw, navigation almost a crime.
    Radiant conversations, companions wouldn’t stall,
Speaking over quests, could barely comprehend it all.

    Hostile environments, vast and immense,
Yet, we tread on foot, which makes no sense.
A flashlight’s meek glimmer, in the cosmos so vast,
Why land so far away? Oh boy! CO2 is such a blast!
The dialogue, repetitive, persuasion quite absurd,
When exiting conversations, just the same old words.

Power allocations, mostly, seemed like a jest,
And the combat AI? Really not the best.
Unresponsive interface, it made quite the mess,
Targeting wrong ships, causing players distress.

Yet amidst these flaws, some grace there still stood,
The item models, and the art, were genuinely good.
But we'll keep on dreaming, of a space game that's tight,
Where quests are accepted, not dumped on you outright.

Oh, Todd, dear Todd, you promised us the moon,
But what you've delivered, is just a little cartoon.
For now, I will stick to the stars in the sky,

You know, thinking about it… take a couple things away and this game’s core gameplay loop would be possible in the 90s. So, GOTY 1999.

Terribly animated faces kills any entertainment from the dialogue, and inspires a feeling of loneliness.
Horrible enemy AI makes combat stupidly easy, I mean… I’ve actually found myself laughing during some of the combat sequences, perhaps some of the fans of the game will explain it as a planet specific thing where a lack of oxygen is causing the enemies to act more irregularly?

Basically, the core problem for me is the gameplay loop. It literally feels like a point and click adventure (hence 1999 GOTY). Loading screen, click, loading screen, click, loading screen, maybe walk a little (ooooo! exciting!) oh… loading screen, click, loading screen, walk, dialogue… with ‘tired faces’

Two things I have enjoyed however, the persuasion system is quite interesting - though I feel the dialogue options don’t really stack well. There could have been more work put in to make the persuasion conversation flow better.

And the music is good, love the jingle when you level up. But first time I did level up, during combat, I found myself almost embarrassed by the jingle’s attempt to inspire excitement, considering how much I was cringing already.

Concluding, the game is definitely not worth full price, considering what amazing developments in RPGs we’ve seen in 2023. But as part of the Xbox game pass, give it a shot.

Though the one IMPORTANT thing that I'll say that many people and streamers and journalists are too scared to say.. is the overrepresentation of women in all roles in the game. 87 hours and I've come across zero male bounty hunters they've ALL been women, 98% of security in the games cities, are women, you're lucky to see a male. It's a huge woke push for women to be represented putting men the in roles of the bad guys and push the good men to be side npc's to NPC's themselves.

It's exactly the woke you expect. The only thing they got right is giving women proper hair styles and not short blue or green hair.

Starfield is woke and until the modders can attempt to fix the woke ideology it's not worth playing.

As soon I got into space and wasted 10 mins flying towards a planet only to then figure out I have to open the menu and fast travel to the planet. I'm then granted with a loading screen. Then at the planet I can't manually land on it. I need to then open the menu again and fast travel again. I'm then in another loaidng screen. The space exploration is a scam. Todd is like a character in one of his own games that has maxed out charisma. He gets on that stage and promises a game that just doesn't work. Starfield is just another fallout 76.

Also forced participation into using pronouns is laughable. Nobody should be forced to take part in someone elses mental health issues. Pronouns are a weaponised social ideology used by people to make them feel special. They will tell you "it's not a big deal " But as soon as you don't want to participate in it you will be abused and attacked.. but it's not a big deal right ?

AI companions are running in front of your line of fire continously, if you leave your cover to shoot, they jump to the spot, so you cant get back under cover again. They push you or block you and the urge to kill them becomes stronger with the minute. Enemies so far are either white or red copies of yourself and bullet sponges, compensating for the weak Ai.

I realize this game is huge, and pushing some boundaries, but It costed too much in the technical, and visual aspects of Starfield. Expand

In Skyrim and Fallout you had dramatic introductions ... emerging from that cave after escaping a dragon, emerging from the sewers after the assassination of the Emperor, emerging from vault 101 after the escape of your father. Not so in Starfield, there is no emergence or anything with soul, there is no "Oh, wow" moment and that shallowness continues throughout the entire game ... of which I have 70 hours played.

The quests are bland, the dialogue is just horrible. The music is average at best. There's a certain lack of "deus" in the machine. It doesn't grab you, it isn't warm, it's distant and remote. Plodding and boring. Key elements such as settlement building have no real purpose and are obtuse and difficult.

Gameplay is an endless series of loading screens. You may experience regular CTD and other issues unless you lock your FPS to 60.

On top of this the game has been styled from the bottom up to be a showcase of modern social justice pieties. From the composition of the populations to the fact that 85% or more of dialogue is going to be with women. Sometimes it's like the game has been set at a baby shower that never ends. Already the champions of that movement are declaring the success of the game as a success for their movement, disproving the claims of their opponents that you lose money if you adopt their creed.

So you have a game that might have been a 7 on its own merits dragged further down by the obnoxious adoption of a faddish political movement, which constitutes a non-stop distraction and irritation.

This game is at best a 4, and I'd recommend you don't waste your time or your money on it.

The game is simply put BORING and that's the biggest issue. Why is there no vehicle to explore the uncharted worlds is beyond stupid it's like MassEffect 1 without Mako - CRAZY. Exploration is boring and it's just repetition of the same thing over and over.

Second thing is the graphics, this was proclaimed true next-gen title well the graphics sure as hell don't reflect that, it's not

Second thing is the graphics, this was proclaimed true next-gen title well the graphics sure as hell don't reflect that, it's not terrible but it's nothing special either they also didn't add very good textures no doubt so that the game would run on **** xbox series s which has lower amount of V-RAM, just look no further than water quality or reflections.

Third thing is the Performance and this is where i would score this game a big fat zero. In New Atlantis in 1440p native/ultra(shadows high) i got 60-70fps on 13600K/RTX 4080..... i can get this much in Hogwarts Legacy or Witcher 3/Cyberpunk with RAY TRACING ULTRA. This game has no explanation for such demanding hardware it doesn't use RT / Lumen / Nanite or Unreal Engine 5 while we're at it this game is made on ancient Creation engine which is no doubt the root cause of bad performance and lacking graphics quality. The only good thing about performance is that it's not stuttering and running a flat frametime.

As if all this is not enough the game lacks actual options which are critical for PC: NO FOV , NO Gamma Setting, No HDR even though it exists on xbox (it's terrible implementation even so...), NO DLSS even though it took me 20 min to enable it via mod wtf? This is 70$ game why the hell must i correct the devs laziness or stupid AMD under table deals ????

Honestly i question the sanity of devs who game such high reviews, Microsoft clearly spent a lot of $ on reviewers to get them on board. Personally the current state of the game is 4/10 for me, simply bad.

Огромное разочарование в игре, я так надеялся на то что игра будет похожа по уровню качества на скайрим в и тоге скучая, забагованная, уродливая, глупая. Видно не плохо попилили деньги Майков. за очередное Г.

I mean, just play No Man's Sky. Bethesda still feels like they're riding the high off of Oblivion in 2006 and actively refuse to improve the quality or fix the mistakes in their games since then. In fact, they've probably regressed. Packed to the brim with bugs, mildly gross and unappealing visuals at all times, boring normal gameplay, empty worlds. This is the wild disappointment of 2023. Graphics and animations of the 2010 level (if not worse)
Music from Oblivion, and inventory from Skyrim. Maybe it's just another mod for Skyrim?
The worlds are empty, it's boring to travel through them. Against the background of starfield, mass effect andromeda and no man's sky look like AAA projects, while starfield looks like a pathetic DIY

    1. Flight controls are limited, and extremely disappointing having come from Everspace 2.
    2. The motto of the game should be, "Ctrl C, Ctrl V".
    3. Boring, filler content. 4. Gear and enemies are boring and repetitive. Enemy A.I. is dumb. 5. The bugs get worse the longer you play. 6. Writing is bad. I personally can live with bugs and bad writing if the game is fun. The problem

    It Just Doesn't Works

Game would be good in 2015, but in 2023 it's nothing but same old crap on the same engine. Shaders don't exist, faces of NPCs are better in Half Life 2, simulator of loading screens. Going to play NMS I'm getting sick of this over hyped trend in last quarter of year.

I fell in love with Starfield. It's my cup of sci-fi and I can't wait to spend the next thirty, fifty, maybe seventy hours here. I enjoy the exploration, the shootouts, the art style, the ship building, and the diverse worlds. I gratefully acknowledge the good optimization and the absence of major bugs. But I can't overlook the flaws. There are bad animations, ugly faces and repetitive moments.[Issue#329]

In a year dominated by sequels to franchise favorites, there was a hope that Starfield would carve its own path to success. While the team at Bethesda should be commended for taking such a big swing, there’s no denying that the game doesn’t feel like a cohesive work. Maybe continued support and future sequels will make something more meaningful out of a work that is clearly deeply enamored with both science fiction and space exploration. Unforunately, this first launch has had far more mixed results than desired.
