The good: Graphics and sounds are awesome. It's so nice to finally have a Star Wars game again.

The bad: I've played for 9 hours so far and I'm already bored...where is the rest of the game? There are so many things missing, things that should be there. I shouldn't have to wait for dlc in order to get these things. DICE, if you are reading this, I want you to patch these things in:

    6. Spawn beacon card

    8. More unlocks.
Those are a few of the things missing. DICE, you are supposed to RAISE the bar. So far, this is a big let down.

There are lots of gimmicky insta-kill weapons like the AT-AT and the Bowcaster. Everyone gets infinite grenades. Some of the higher level weapons are massively overpowered, and as such are abused by the high level players. Spawns are a mess. You can get killed by a hero, spawn right next to him and get killed again. There are pickups for various items like gun turrets, though whether you get them or not depends on whether you can beat your own teammates to them. Because there are no player classes, it is very hard to control the battlefield using teamwork. Every game ends up feeling like a huge free-for-all, with random deaths coming from every direction, regardless of how skilled you are as a player. Needless to say, this makes the game very frustrating. It's only the Star Wars universe that keeps me engaged at the moment, and I think that will be running out very soon. Expand

Good graphics and performance on most if not every machine, it is very well optimised.
Sounds are great, especially if you use a good quality sound device.

    Con's
*Lack of maps, 4 in total, and in those 4 maps areas are used for game modes, but in the ends its just copy paste.
*Lack of balance, it is shocking at how bad the balance is in maps, I heard Imperials won mostly in beta and now its rebels.
Air vs Air between the two are also very imbalanced, Rebel ships are far superior.
Ground vs Ground looks okay at first, but players who have level'd ahead will have a large advantage over new players. With unlocks and the likes.
*Lack of customization and progression, you can upgrade 'cards'(really cards...) and buy emotes and or a different looking head. But gun wise, altering its way of use, no.
*Lack of variety, after doing Walker assault 4 times I already got bored, its small and linear. Because the maps share everything pretty much, you seen it all after your first 4 matches.
*Lack of control options, cant change half of the keybinds I would like to change, options to control mouse sensitivity seems to work on some things and then not ( for example zooming in with a ATST increases senstivity instead of decreasing.. QA failed there.
*Flying is impossible with mouse and keyboard, they broke it after beta from what I can read.
*Lack of any tactic, its just spawn, shoot, die, spawn shoot die. No flanking options, not enough tools for any kind of teamplay.
*To many instant kill ways, there are just far to many oneshot things in the game, it isn't any fun.

Now the worst thing of all. Considering they wear the name Battlefront, how could they have removed or ignored all the great things of Battlefront 1 and 2, how is this possible? How can they ignore or the good things about Battlefield, being Dice and all? How could they come up with a CoD in Star Wars, and then done it so poorly.. it baffles me. In every area of gameplay and map design there are issues. But DLC is coming I read often, it doesnt matter I spend 60 euros, because I can pay another 100 and finally have a decent game. Remember, this game offers 1/3 of the content the last Battlefront game offered.

Pro tip: Since it looks good, you can just use it a screensaver.

as for the multiplayer, levels are very unbalanced for the walker assault, dont even try winning on endor if you're playing as the empire
the guns are somewhat poorly done, there's a gun that you'll unlock at level 3 but at level 5 you can get a gun that is a direct upgrade to it which is pretty pointless, i think there's a few more there as well
if you're ever caught wondering what gun the guy at the top of the leader board is using it's han solo's blaster with it's 2 shot kill
there's also the lack of content (4 maps and a bunch of gamemodes 2 of which people will only play, walker assault and deathmatch were the only ones i could get a game for)for it's hefty $90 AUD pricetag for the standard edition and the $60 season pass if you want the future content, likely 1 new map per dlc
for those who want to return this game you can in the first 30 days if you bought through origin
    Pros:
    graphics
    sound
    Netcode

    Cons:
    lack of solo/co-op
    price
    unbalanced maps
    unbalanced weapons
Disappointing customization (omg wow i can change to an old guy or an alien golly gee)

If by any chance some of you are going to read this, please, take it seriously, because it will not only increase players' enjoyment of your games, but will also bring financial benefit to you guys through increasing the game's replayability and longevity with no (or very little amount of) extra work or resources.
So, I, like literally millions of people worldwide, love Star Wars. And obviously I will be inclined to consume (play, watch etc.) SW-themed entertainment products. As a typical situation, I come home from work and want to spend a couple of hours playing a SW-game. I want to get immersed into this galaxy, roleplay, really feel that I am a rebel/imperial soldier/Force-user in the Galaxy far far away - in other words have a good old nerdy fun. I may also want to play a competitive game against other people once in a while, but those two sorts of fun are to a large extent mutually exclusive, at least for me. I get it from the backlash of a part of the players, that it is not only my sentiment.
What I get with this game is a comlete lack of immersion. Yes, the graphics are great, the models authentic, the sound (which I cannot enjoy fully due to EA local language limitations) awesome, etc. But how in the world I can appreciate and truly take a moment to enjoy being a freaking Luke Skywalker or riding an AT-ST if I always have to rush somwhere - to capture bases, to kill or to not get killed, not to let my team down.. How can I roleplay if I see a mindless mob of players running around (no disrespect fellow players, I am one of the mindless mob myself - it is quite difficult to coordinate attacks without any in-game means of doing so), jumping, crouching in most unsuitable places - all in all, being PLAYERS and not a part of the living SW Galaxy. This affects immersion in a major way, and thus devaluates the SW component of the game. What is the use of it if I am unable to enjoy my favourite universe in the way I like?
I understand that people might say, that this is a multiplayer game and my complaints are pointless because I am simply not a part of its target audience. Perhaps they are right. But this is what I would like to make an emphasis on - why artificially limit your target audience when it could be broadened without significant extra work whatsoever? Why didn't EA simply make all those beautiful multiplayer maps playable in a single player mode with BOTS? Perhaps they are not as deadly as human players, but so what, it worked out for a lot of people in the first two games. Why couldn't it be implemented now? I just don't get it. With such game mode and the Galactic Conquest EA could feed me with their overpriced DLCs to the rest of my days, I would have bought all their little pistols, Han Solo panties and Leia's haircuts.
Without these modes, it is simply another FPS. Yes I will play it a couple of evenings just out of curiousity and love for Star Wars, but no more than that. it saddens me so much that developers just waist the potential presented by such a rich universe and such popular and successful games as battlefornt I and II.
And it is even more sad considering that the enourmous work and love for SW that had been put into making this game is clearly visible. This is why I am not going to give the game a very low rating. It is not a bad game - it is just made for fans of competitive multiplayer games. And it is clearly for these players to judge the game's other faults, like oversimplified gunplay, shallow gamemodes or its repetitive nature.

As for me, I would be happy with an extended single player mode - i.e. the ability to play with bots on multiplayer maps. And perhaps some more heroes (where the hell is Obi-Wan?).

    And space fights..

And Clone Wars era... ok, just kidding here

    Not really.

tl;dr: the EA are putting themselves in a tough position trying to find their fanbase in an overlapping of two sets of players - those who enjoy Star Wars, and those who enjoy multiplayer games exclusively. Not a game for a guy who likes to have his Star Wars fun in a single player.

The biggest problem to this game is the lack of meaningful counterplay. You die because someone shoots you from behind, or you get orbital striked, or you get an entire team of potatoes.

The 'weapon feel' is also frustrating -- sometimes your weapons feel incredibly effective, and other times, they can't seem to hit a damn thing.

After originally rating this game 3/10, I decided to get my money's worth and pump in a few more hours. The game rated only slightly higher than my initial impressions, but not for any good reasons.

Star Wars Battlefront (2015) is visually stunning, and feels like a very smooth game. It also has quite a distinct "Star Wars" vibe, which is great for fans of the Star Wars franchise.

Gameplay is seriously lacking. The stronger weapons are locked by level, so the more experienced players are not going to win by virtue of their skill - they are going to win because their gun is better than yours. This is a big problem, especially because of the broken matchmaking (more on that later). There are only a limited number of guns to choose from overall, and their only difference is the damage, fire-rate, range, and cooldown speed. While the card system somewhat helps to improve arsenal diversity, it doesn't help it enough to feel memorable (at least not in a good way). It's not a matter of "who shot first" or even "who is more skilled" - it's all about who has the bigger gun.

Previous Battlefront games did the weapon loadout thing much better, even the somewhat forgettable PSP Rogue Squadron and Elite Squadron games. In Previous Battlefront games, there were predefined loadouts that fit into certain roles - basic trooper, anti-vehicle heavy, engineer, sniper, faction specific classes. Each loadout had a role to fill, and even the faction specific classes didn't unbalance the teams. Each class could go toe-to-toe with each other class, assuming players of about equal skill level. I feel that Battlefront (2015) would have been a much better game if they copied the Rogue/Elite Squadron games when it came to loadouts. You're given a cap of 100 points, a primary weapon, secondary weapon, explosives, special item, power-up (passive or active buff), Health, Speed, Capture Rate & Stamina. All of the weapons available were well balanced so it was more about the role you wanted to fill or what playstyle you prefer, not which weapon was strongest.

Matchmaking is horrid. There is no balancing system, and teams aren't re-balanced between matches. The team that dominated last round will do so again this round unless players leave or join the session. This is particularly punishing for new players who don't have access to better weapons. On a side note, it is fun to win games. It is very fun, in fact. The sad thing is, it's not fun to be in a game which you are losing, especially since you feel like you can't do anything to turn it around - which is often true. This shows poor balancing by the development team - a video game should be fun to play whether you're winning or losing.

There is a variety of game modes, but the number of maps and planets are extremely limited. It's hard not to compare it to the previous Star Wars Battlefront games, especially in this regard. I have to say, this game only has superficial similarities to the previous Battlefront games. I tried to enjoy it without drawing unfair comparisons, but it falls flat in so many areas that I can't help but be disappointed in a game I had low expectations for. There is no Clone Wars era. There are no dedicated space battles. There is no Campaign, Galactic Conquest, or Instant Action game modes (all of which were equally important and fun to the original Battlefront games). There is a noticeably lower variety in maps and locations. The list goes on, but it's like beating a dead horse.

The final thing, and possibly the nail in the coffin, is the typical EA DLC. There is a "season pass' for DLC, which costs almost as much as the base game itself. They have given us no clue as to what is contained in any of the 4 planned DLC packs. Knowing EA's history, we can likely expect features expected to be released in the base game - like Clone Wars Era, and the upcoming Sequel trilogy Era, more maps of more well-known locations, more heroes, etc. Worse, it might not contain anything we wanted and just be filled with more maps and overpowered weapons locked to high-level players.

I may be somewhat biased in my opinions of the game, perhaps because I positively associate with Star Wars and Star Wars Battlefront, or maybe because I dislike EA. Either way, this game scores poorly in my books for a whole number of reasons, and the things it does well don't make up for it.

That's a question that many people will be asking themselves after paying the premium price of 60 Euro/Dollars and having played the game for several hours. I sure hope not that many have paid the insane amount of €110,-. If you have, you have my sympathies.

The only saving grace is that the game looks and sounds very pretty and that it has a Star Wars theme. When you would strip away the Star Wars jacked all that is left is a game that suffers from bladder problems due to it being exposed to the same cold I felt after paying the price of €60 for this product.

12 Maps? Sounds sufficient, but in reality it's not.

I can only speak for myself, but the main draw to this game is the Walker Assault mode. This means that you get to play 4 maps over and over again and that gets old really quickly.

The other game modes are alright I guess, but they are not really my thing. Capture the flag and the rudimentary Death Match modes are done much better by other games. The Walker Assault mode is what should have been the main focus and maybe a secondary mode similar to it in space for instance.
This game can't compete with the likes of Battlefield, Halo and Call of Duty, so I don't understand why DICE copy and pasted some of the game modes. That was a massive waste of time and money and the game suffers from it.

I can already picture how the meeting went when EA bought the IP and announced to the DICE team that they wanted a Battlefront game. A picture of Battlefield was being projected in the meeting room and a "We want that, but make it look like Star Wars" was said. Such a missed opportunity.

TLDR: Not worth €60 and certainly not €110. EA/DICE could have made something more innovative, but instead choose for the safe and simple route and ended up with a very pretty looking with great sounds but otherwise mediocre shooter. Walker Assault is fun for a short while though.

    - The teams are wildly unbalance 80% of the time. On Walker maps you'll know which side will win within 3-5 minutes of playing. This is often just due to the map. On Endor the rebels will always win. They basically have to stop playing to lose that map.
    - There is zero coordination on teams. This is not entirely the games fault but some design decision really contribute to this: Team voice chat would really help, but the bizarre spawn points and multiple objectives always mean that there's little to no coordination on objectives.

All of this was totally unexpected by me when I bought the game for 60 bones. I really expected a gameplay environment that would lead to cooperative combat - instead this game is just like multiplayer skirmish tweaker knee jerk combat. Who is the fastest to let loose the nade, or spray the most... Really terrible gameplay dynamic, that is not fun at all, makes me feel like I am playing a slot machine in vegas than playing a realtime multiplayer game. Worst multiplayer experience of my life. I really regret buying early into this game. Pretty much a beautiful game with no real soul. It oozes Star Wars, but just begins to get old after the first hour or two mainly due to the incredible mediocre game play. I expected more from DICE on the game front and all around disappointment of the year.

The game looks nice and plays fluently. Most of the stuff is well balanced, but it's far too much about grinding and purchasing DLC. Team Fortress 2 is a free-to-play title, and it's less greedy than this 50€ game. Very awkward, I'm asking you not support this.

Its ok for a star wars fan. Graphics is really great, AT-AT mode is quite interesting but dont expect the game to be fun for more than a few days. Actually if they only put the gameplay of the good old BF 2142 into this game, it would be much better. Gameplay in SW battlefront isnt really developed or advanced .

Now there is something important to talk about. Some retard at TV Tropes named ACW made the retarded statement of "which is not even close to the third game." in a discussion about Kingdom Hearts 3, yes it is the third game you retard, the third MAIN game. Secondly there is no "sequel number snarl" since nobody is confused about the naming of games like Kingdom Hearts, that's a retarded belief that doesn't exist. It's not even more of a mess, it's also not really, "really" complicated and that's fact since everybody who has waited for it for five years have played all the games and nothing is "fouled" by naming since it's a fact that "sequel naming snarl" doesn't exist retard. Another thing is that Kingdom Hearts is an arpg, not really a "hack and slash" like some retarded hack fraud youtube "critics" would claim, that's fact since it has everything an arpg does, but no it's unconventional and we can't compare it to anything else so let's lie and claim it's a "hack and slash". If you think it's "more like a hack and slash" you are factually wrong and retarded since it is an arpg. Literally play the game, and it's not a matter of "fanboys" retards, it's a fact you idiots don't actually understand anything about the game itself but act like you do. Another thing is the blowjobbing retarded idiot named "Rabbidluigi" claiming Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days is a "good game with a bad story", no you retard it's a good game with a good story, virtually nobody complains about the gameplay since it's a fact that nobody has an issue with it. Therefore it's a fact that it's not in the "Top 5 Bad Games With Good Stories" it's in the "Top 5 Good Games With Good Stories" and that's fact as well. Another retarded brainlet is some cumchugger retard named ThrillingDuck who made the retarded clickbait claim at about 2014 or something of "The decline of Kingdom Hearts" when it a fact that "The decline of Kingdom Hearts" doesn't exist and that's fact, there hasn't been any "decline" of Kingdom Hearts you braindead retard and that's fact as well. There isn't any decline of Kingdom Hearts and won't ever be any decline of Kingdom Hearts and that's the fact of the matter. The games haven't been as frequent to ensure all development is on making Kingdom Hearts as good as possible, that's a fact. The retard attempted a stupid idiot immature retard rant but he blew throbbing shaft at it like the retard he is. The story has always been complicated to start so that's not a valid complaint either, especially since the story actually works and that's a fact as well. Lastly somebody said for the opening "Dream Drop Distance is the best and Re:Chain of Memories is the worse in my opinion". It's fine to have an opinion but factually they are all good, Chain of Memories isn't as good as Dream Drop Distance but factually Dream Drop Distance isn't necessarily the best. Somebody named Baneewii said "I agree". Nobody does agree on that necessarily, therefore it's not "I agree", that's fact. Lastly the first guy said "Um, thank you for respecting my opinion?" Okay, your opinion can be respected, it's not necessarily accurate though since Re:Chain of Memories is not "worse" it not as good is all. Everything I have said in the review here up to now in response is fact, disagree and you are wrong and retarded. That's fact, I am honest about retards.

On another topic, it's more political and about Bowsette but who cares. Some shaftchugging woketarded braindead journalist named Don Nero who probably burned innocent people alive, made a retarted SJW statement of claiming and had unsuccessfully described Bowsette as "dominatrix-inspired" and attempting and failing proposing her as a "positive symbol of female empowerment". How about a character made to be good retard? Lara and Samus were good because of characterization, Bowsette exists for porn, that's it, done, finished and though the retard complained that a bulk of the art was "overtly male-gazey." and btw, "male-gazey" is not a phrase cumchugging queer, secondly it could be "female-gazey", oh but wait, then you would have to not be a woketarded emasculated little cuck baby and actually have balls and not be a hypocrite retard wouldn't you little SJW cucklet? Then the beta cucklet who has retarded castrated male guilt for some retarded idiot reason said "dripping with horrendously over-the-top, seam bursting cliches that call to mind the bodacious sex-dolls of Dead or Alive Volleyball" Oh poor little castrated cucktard, Bowsette's not "woke" enough for you? Piss off you cancerous piece of fecal matter. It's not "dripping" with anything and they aren't "horrendously over-the-top" either cuckbreath. That's fact, Octopath Traveler, Nino Kuni 2, Dragon Quest 11 or xi and Red Dead Redemption 2 are factually among the best games of 2018 and are more than ten hours, the amount of time a game takes doesn't matter and that's fact, the quality does instead and that's fact.

Somebody who is called Cool Ghosts claims that Dragon's Dogma is "The Best game ever." No retard, it may be a good game but factually it isn't "The Best Game Ever." Not anywhere the best at all.

Some retard who has a retarded name claimed that "GaaS (Games as a service) is an atrocity", no retard, factually it isn't necessarily an atrocity, it can be a negative if it's DRM for single player games but mulitplayer games have to be sustained. And no, I am not some two dimensional retard who believes it hasn't to be with us or against us pertaining to microtransactions. Some are fine for multiplayer exclusive games and genres, especially if it's free. They are fine to an extent if they're in mobile games. I am not "giving them ground" though retards, I think companies have to learn for themselves what's good and Idk, not be bullied by some retards online. If it's EA then go ahead and dislike them since they have shown numerous times they won't genuinely learn. Mistakes create improvement and that's perfectly fine, no the video game industry and community we have these days is not "seemingly tone deaf" like some retard would have you believe, some are yes but monetization to an extent helps guarantee the games we actually care about and are anticipating don't have monetization. That's why some mobile phone games and MMORPGs for some companies is okay, don't go nuts and it's perfectly fine. If your series is mainly an MMORPG then to an extent it's fine, be positive you don't have anything in an MMORPG that gives players an advantage. Monthly subscription or free to play it's perfectly fine, for mobile games as well. And that goes for multiplayer exclusive genres like Mobas, Hero Shooters, Team Shooters and MMORPGs. No loot boxes though.

Another thing is the best Nintendo Switch game of the year is Octopath Traveler as well as Smash Bros. Ultimate, it's a tie, that's a fact. Nintendo would survive without Mario and Sony would survive without Naughty Dog/Gran Turismo. That's fact.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider didn't succeed commercially and had to go on sale but that's perfectly fine mainly because there wasn't anything that would make it apparent it wasn't going to succeed. it's a mistake but that's fine.

Now lastly to talk about Square Enix. They are factually a good company. An example of "Creator Worship" even. They are factually generally well liked by the public and their fans, that's a fact. They acknowledge their fans in the East and West but now consider the kind of games they make even more because of the overwhelmingly positive fan feedback of Bravely Default. Some braindead retards on the cancerous retarded pedophile website "TV Tropes" though would lie to you on their retarded "Darth Wiki"(A name by retards for retards) and claim it's a "Fallen Creator" example or some similar retardation, despite having it as an example of "Creator Worship" as well even though it's one or the other. They are factually retarded and the retarded braindead "Fallen Creator" example is factually wrong as well. It's factually not a "Fallen Creator" it's factually an example of "Creator Worship". FFXIV wasn't great at first? Turned around the project and made it a good game and Square Enix was thoroughly commended by players, critics and fans alike for their effort, thus making them more "Creator worshipped" then before since it is now well liked. FF The Spirits Within? That movie that almost shut down Square? ALMOST. They recovered and are now more successful then ever after merging with Enix and now have more creative capability thanks to that. That's a positive, a "Fallen Creator" wouldn't have survived that, they would've shut down and not recovered because of that mistake, but they gained more from it instead. That's a fact. A vocal minority of some retards online may or may not site them as one of the first stereotypes of JRPGs and make retarded videos about selling merchandise, that's retarded "evidence" that isn't actually evidence. What if they are seen by some retards who are undoubtedly the kind of retarded ignorant American cumsuckers(Some Americans are good, not them though) who make equally retarded and factually wrong statements, over generalizations and stereotypes about anime and manga as one of the first "stereotypes" of JRPGs? What stereotype? That JRPGs are good games? Since they are, but you retards neglected to specify that of course. There will be part 2.

But while that stuff was obviously handled by experts, you get the feeling that the rest of the stuff wasn't. 1) No real communication ability at all with other players just ruins the game (the in game chat is only during the actual game and is useless as you will be killed if you try to type something, plus it allows curses and racial slurs, really?) 2) Obvious issues. Enemy players can get behind your spawn area, get in a turret, and just kill your team over and over and over with no way to stop it. How was that missed? 3) It is only fun if people play along. Some hide in a bush in a map and kill you when there is no chance to even see them. Is that fun? No. Some hide on top of a mountain behind a peak and step out just to snipe you, Is that fun? No. You get the idea. If everyone just plays the game.. it can be fun. But most times, someone exploits a map problem. Overall, I guess it comes down to that I love everything about this game.. except the fact that it is online. If it was a single player game, it would easily be 10/10 game of the year. The engine is fantastic and personally I found it incredibly reliable with no crashes.

The problem is, there is something about this game that feels a bit like some of the same mistakes made in hardline when it comes to game play. It lacks options and it is fundamentally NOT enjoyable. EA seem to be moving away from the open game that was BF3, BC2 and BF4 where people had a lot of customisation and gratification from on going development to a very sterile and as linear an environment as one could come up with in an FPS.

Maps feel small in many cases and it almost a case of 2 groups of people charging at it other endlessly in silence as there is no chat of any kind. Not that you need to make a strategy here, there is very limited scope for anything but grenade spam.

Which is just as well because the aimbotting is back with a vengeance in multiplayer. The weapons have no spread or error so aimbotting is incredibly deadly. Grenades are incredibly powerful so almost every map feels like Metro from BF4 only with more intense grenade spam.

There is no going prone, no needed balances of classes, there are no choices to speak of and very little to differentiate you from everyone else. It feels like it doesnt want to be a game but would rather be a movie. Maps are epic looking but still they absolutely lack scope for anything tactical.

Hero characters come and go but really, no one cares, as its a token gesture. Vehicle use is very limited and almost scripted and except for certain modes virtually non existent. Those modes being almost solely about the vehicles. Not that you can do much with them.

There is no ping indications anywhere, so who knows and the matchmaking is not transparent and completely automatic so you have no real control.

Some genius also decided to design all the splash screens etc with a blazing white background. Like they are trying to damage peoples eyes. So you go from creeping about in dark hangars (occasionally) to blazing white backgrounds between games. Who has so little experience that they never played games at night. This is a schoolboys error.

I am a huge Battlefield fan so I was hoping for Battlefield in an open environment. What I got was something that feels like it was designed for consoles only. A game that should have been open and full of possibilities but someone managed to make as linear and sterile as possible. Spectacularly missed opportunity.

I wouldn't even say its a great tech demo because the game feels so limited much of the time. I would very much like to get a refund and would not regret never playing it again.

Not everyone likes the power up or card system but I feel they fit in well with the game. And the most important thing about the game is that it runs smooth as butter and is very well optimized. Totally stable, no lag or micro-stutter, runs well on even low-spec PCs.

Unfortunately the game has several major issues all relating to simple features missing or control scheme choices. Also the game is quite lacking in content for the price. Something that doesn't bother me but certain does for many other players. As far as gameplay issues go, the most serious issue we have on the PC is the lack of team balance, or team shuffling. Teams are never randomized and there is no way to switch teams manually. What we're seeing in nearly every match is a stacked team dominating one side game after game. For example you'll have 6 players in hero assault for hours on end with no changes on one team, while the opposing team cycles 50+ players through the meat grinder who join and leave. The number of matches where it's 10v20 or 2v6 for often the duration of the entire match is far too many. At the very least teams should auto balance with each match change. Certainly this can be done while still maintaining parties. Even if it isn't a full team balance, something is still better than nothing whilst still maintaining friends/parties on the same side.

Other major issues include the PC control scheme for flight controls. In beta the controls were great, with direct mouse input to vehicle flight control. Very precise and a pleasure to fly. However now we're discovering that the flight controls are a sluggish joystick emulation style control. Basically flying an x-wing feels like driving a car on a sheet of ice. It's a mess. A huge mess. Most fighter squadron matches are just chat rooms of players complaining about how the beta test flight controls were better.

Lastly we're missing common features like the ability to see players ping, or even a server browser. There's not even a way to kick or ban cheaters who blatantly use hack software... instead relying only on the automated mechanism which could take days or weeks to work. Something i'm sure we'll sorely miss in due time.

Overall, I think there's not enough "weight" to either the story or the gameplay. It's OK and relatively fun in small doses, but didn't hold my attention long, and made me long for more "weighty" FPS such as Far Cry 3 or 4. And of course, single player is probably not the best reason to buy this game anyway. Expand

The rest is unfortunately mediocre at best. Let's start with the obvious in that there is no single player campaign or Galactic Conquest, and prequel content is made to sit on the sidelines this time. This means that genuinely cool planets and heroes can't be included because DICE and EA have either limited themselves or been limited by Disney.

Gunplay is bland, with little to no recoil. Vehicles are clunky and hard to control on some maps (of which there are disappointingly few), and there are only three heroes per faction. Overall, I am disappointed by this game.

One last thing I forgot was that it was promised there would be no DLC, and then now there's a 50 dollar Season Pass. Knocking a couple points off for that one.

I mean - no campaign - come on. That would be forgiveable if the multiplayer aspect was very sophisticated, but it isn't....

The shortage of maps (only 4 maps on large multiplayer modes) makes multiplayer get repetitive very fast.

Perhaps the biggest problem though is the lack of depth in the area of multiplayer teamwork. You can't be part of a squad, just a partnership. And even that is broken in that you often randomly get "unpartnered" and there is no way to repartner with someone. Where are the squads? But most of all, where are the varied roles? I want to play a medic, or an engineer, and yes, sometimes even a sniper, but none of that is possible because there is only one role available here.

Maybe they'll add some of this later, but right now it feels half finished.

I get that they want to make it as accessible as possible, but there are ways to add depth of gameplay without scaring off newbies.

I've only had this game a few days and already I simply am not compelled to log in and play. What's the point?

"Single Player" is practically non existent and have very limited appeal for people other than trophy hunters and shouldn't even really be labelled as single player content, since the previous battlefront games all had emphasis on playing the core maps with AI - a feature that made the series famous and was the heart of game - sadly Dice opted for the forced online method so unless you plan playing on forced EA servers against the worst scum and villainy online.

The 'core' game is based on purely online modes only, with the 9 maps offering somewhat limited replayability and highly frustrating balance issues, even issues that appeared in the beta haven't really been addressed. The biggest and best reason not to buy Battlefront is that just one - repeat ONE single hacker can ruin the entire experience of the game, and hacking is already a major problem and fairfight alone isn't enough to catch all of them, especially the more seasoned and subtle hackers - whilst it'll still ban the more obvious ones it'll still ruin the game experience.

Also, lets not forget the outrageously overpriced season pass at $50 - EA this isn't okay and I hope this backfires.

For some PVP is wonderful, and I am, to be honest not that bad at it. There is an issue however when you leave out everybody who doesn't love PVP. For example I play a lot of video games, spend hours grinding to max level and truly love to play, many of my friends also enjoy games but are just not that good at them. They would like to play with me in a non competitive way, you ever heard of co-op? I'm sorry but a tacked on survival mode, is not even remotely enough in this area. Especially when you can only play it with one friend. So all of the people who were looking forward to this game with true excitement, now have no choice but to play PVP with me and get stomped on by COD losers and get called unspeakable things by 12 year old PVP obsessed children.
Is the gun play a little shallow? Yes. Is the PVP woefully unbalanced? Yes. Is that the biggest problem? No. The real problem here is that STAR WARS FANS can't enjoy this game, only PVP players can(yes, I realize there are those who are both). A campaign mode would help but even just giving us custom match mode vs AI would solve most of the problems. It would be nice to sign in and play with people who just want to have fun and feel like they are in Star Wars. I really had hoped for a game like the original battlefront, but with the stellar graphics we have always wanted to see. What I got was another FPS PVP fest that can't even compete with the dedicated PVP titles. I would give this game a lower score, but there is hope that it could be turned around in the future with some of the DLC. In addition the graphics are so impressive that it still holds some sway on me, but if I can't enjoy them with friends then its only a tiny amount.

However, it's missing a lot of features that made Battlefront unique and fun compared to standard FPS games. The maps feel like you're caged in a small area, which takes away that epic feeling that the battles had, with AI running around, vehicles scattered (rather than power-ups and vehicles on tracks), and just that feeling that you're apart of a massive epic battle.

Another thing it's missing is the space battles, which I absolutely loved, even more so when you could transfer from flying a spaceship, into being in a space station and being in an FPS situation, seamlessly. It blows my mind that they could leave that quintessential part of the Battlefront experience out.

Then there's a bunch of smaller things, like the class systems being gone, which gave a unique playstyle to different enemies and allies. Now it feels like everyone just has basically the same gear, making it incredibly homogenized. I'm sure I'm missing some things, but ultimately, what you're left with, is a game that feels like COD - Star Wars. Extremely watered down game, missing essentially everything that made Battlefront special. With that said though, it's visually amazing, and it's Star Wars, so I'd say it's worth like $10 or maybe $20.

Oh and the heroes/villains (Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, etc.) feel really simple and boring. Hard to describe exactly why I don't like them, but you could check out some video of their gameplay and see for yourself.

But there's one thing that completely destroyed the game for me, that's the 'Star Card' progression system. The Star Cards are little things you can use from Thermal Detonators to Jetpacks, Impact Grenades and a whole lot more. But the problem with the Star Cards is that they are direct upgrades. Starting players get nothing, now, in the beginning it's easy to unlock these things but as you progress it gets slower and more powerful. The pulse rifle, for example is unlocked fairly early on and it's a one shot kill no matter where you hit the body (Also of note: The hitboxes are terrible.)

After forcing myself through 17 hours of this sub-par attempt to cash in on a movie trying to find the fun or value in it, are we in a bizarro world where the Star Wars license games are **** I can say that there is some value here as a $25 game. The downright stunning lack of content here is just as breathtaking as the visuals and sounds, well except for the VA which is just awful and is another clear demonstration of cutting costs and time out of the development to get this game out before the upcoming movie. Seriously, this is Star wars and you couldn't even get good impersonators, what the hell is wrong with you? As mentioned the Graphics do look pretty but really that doesn't matter, just like the prequels it doesn't matter how pretty this **** looks if there is no substanance to it, and there is none.

The lack of any sort of customization to your Rebel/Stormtrooper is barely tolerable in this day and age when that kind of control should be left up to the player so you can make your avatar a representation of you the player. Instead we are meagerly gifted some head reskins with different haircuts and at the later stages of the game the rebels can slap on some alien heads and the the empire can recolor their armor black or dress up as a scout trooper. Again, there was room here to let players be creative, to make their character their own and it was just half-assed, and that is being generous. So if you can't customize your characters you can at least customize your weapons right? WRONG. It's like we've gone back in time, your weapons are static and most of them are pointless. The only thing you can really get creative with are the loadouts, or HANDS because CARD GAMES ARE COOL RIGHT? Everything here is straightforward and doesn't really scream out any innovation, it's all stuff you've seen before elsewhere usually done better. In the end you will probably have two set-ups, Killing Players and Killing Vehicles.

Speaking of vehicles let's talk about them and the gamemodes with them, Supremacy and Walker Assault. And the dog fight mode too I guess. These are the Flagship modes, they have the highest player count of 40, again we've seem to stepped back into the old game industry time warp where lower player counts are a good thing because **** you, and all of the goodies of vehicle combat and the tiny bipedal vehicle combat. Being in a ground vehicle means you are playing for the Empire because the Rebels can't afford them, this usually means you can go on quite a killing spree if found at the right time. Oh I forgot to mention the pick up system, because I am trying to erase it from my brain. Okay so vehicles and other power-up are scattered across the maps in little coin like forms, luckily the vehicle ones are correctly labeled the rest are random and may as well have been put into the damn loadout system. Anyway unless focused down AT-STs run wild against most everything and AT-ATs, only available in walker assault as a rail turret section, can't be damaged except at the times designated. But they vary in usefulness as you can easily hope into an AT-At, which lets you hang out in there for about 30 seconds, when it is staring at a snow wall or a hill or a bunch of really tall trees. Air Vehicles are a mess to handle and fighting other fighters in them looks and feels ridiculous. Now on to those bipedal vehicles I was talking about, no it wasn't the AT-ST, I'm talking about the heroes which are basically walking tanks, I won't go into how stupid it was to make them moron proof as they are, let's just say you will rack up a kill count as one because they kill quick and are harder to shoot. So all of that is bundled with these two modes, which might be exciting if they had more than four maps, four maps that THEY SHARE. This is inexcusable, if not downright disgusting. All the stuff left out of this game, all the corners cut and you still couldn't muster up 10 maps for the games popular modes? Are you kidding me? What the hell? That and the $50 dollar DLC pass says it all. It says that this is merely a platform for DLC, that it's so content starved seems intentional to try and make that DLC look all the more necessary for you to justify your purchase. "I can't stop playing, I spent $60 on this game I have to make it worth, better pay some more so I can enjoy it, OH NO I'm further in the hole. Help me more EA pls."

I could go on but I just want to wash my hands of this game, I'd rather not think about it ever again other than the lesson I learned about not buying **** out of boredom. If you need this wait until they bundle all the crap together.

Its stunning visuals, and somewhat smooth gameplay are degraded by it's atrocious servers, lack of variation, lack of gameplay features, and complete disregard for balance. It can be fun, at times, but it's far more commonly frustrating.

Why Digital Illusions and EA decided to go this path with the game, I can't really guess. Maybe they just wanted to put in minimal effort, because they knew they'd get a huge return out of it. It's a reboot of one of the most beloved Star Wars games, after all.

AND HEY THAT 50$ SEASON PASS RIGHT GUYS? Maybe this game would have felt complete with that included in, with all the extra maps, vehicles, weapons, and gameplay modes they promised, but the Vanilla game is not worth 60 USD. Hell, I got this for 45$, and I still feel ripped off. This is not a complete game. Breaking the game in two and requiring what amounts to what is essentially buying the game again is **** business practice. For the love of god, don't buy that. You're only encouraging unfair business practices if you do. I honestly doubt you'll play it long enough to justify buying that as well.

As I mentioned before, the game itself looks great, and it plays okay, but the charm wears off quick. You're paying 60$ for an online shooter, because the single player is absolutely paltry, and it is still sub par. Spawning is awful, balance doesn't exist, and the game is completely inconsistent. Wait for this game to go on sale if you think you have to have it.

Alright everyone, I'm here to express my honest opinion on this game. Ill try to keep it calm as I can, and wont rip the game a new one or anything.

So, for a lot of people, the game was a disappointment, and it probably could have been worse, but it isn't the worst game out there. Now, for those who enjoy the **** out of the game, go ahead, I'm glad you enjoy it, but do realize there is actual flaws with the game that others are irritated with. The biggest complaint I have seen is content, and I absolutely agree with this. The game becomes repetitive after a little while, and makes the game feel empty.

Graphics/sound- This game is a great example of how graphics aren't everything. The visuals are absolutely stunning, the animations are perfect, and the sounds are on point, but that is really the biggest pro to the game or seems....which is sad.

Co-op Survival- So as far as i can see, you can only have 1 other person with you in this mode....like really? Am I only able to have 1 friends now adays? This could have been fun as hell with 3 other friends, but i cant play if more than one is on, because why leave your friends out because of a stupid design choice?

Maps- Now, I understand there is a decent amount of maps in the game, but I think the real issue is the lack of variety. Id prefer to have ten completely different landscapes then 4 landscapes that are slightly different on ten map. Some people don't have a problem with this, but when you think of the amazing environments they could have had...its just disappointing.

Space battles and dogfighting- Now, what really made a Star Wars for me was the huge battles in space. Why Dice and EA decided to leave it out is beyond me. The space battles were alright in BF2, but they had so much to improve on. Flying through space in a huge firefights with explosions everywhere just was an amazing experience, and would have made this game so much better than it is now. Imagine being able to dogfight around capital ships firing lasers and cannons left and right, then landing in the hanger and engaging in huge firefights across the ship as you made your way to vital parts of this huge ship....that would have been an amazing experience. As it seems, the dogfighting is alright in the game, but seems too easy, all you need to do is lock on and hold fire, no huge outmaneuvering and aiming is really involved.

Clones and Droids- Alright, let me just start out by saying that if you hate the clone wars due to the prequels you need to dig a little deeper. The clone wars was a huge part of star wars and the way it played out was fascinating. Dice had a huge opportunity to use the Clones and Droids in this game...but they just dumped it. For those of you(like me) who enjoyed the Clone Wars better than the Rebels and empire, all I can say is we were pushed aside and thrown into the garbage. If you dug into the lore behind this with all of its heroes and villains and all of its huge full blown battles, I guarantee you'd be impressed at many times. Taking this part out basically rips half of Star Wars out of the game, and I find this disappointing and unacceptable to a certain extent.

DLC- I mean...really.....50 dollars of DLC planned before the game was even released? And don't tell me I can play without the DLC, as it almost doubles the content in the game(that should have been in their originally). The fact isn't that their is DLC, its the fact that it charges an extra 50 dollars(almost the cost of another game) just to make the game what it should have been. If one of my friends buys it, then ill either miss out on so much, or be forced to go throw $50 dollars in EA's face. Some people out there cant afford a $110 dollar game, and for those who can, congratulation, but not all of us want to spend $110 dollars just to get a completed game. This is a rip off, and I urge you too see this as well, EA didn't have everyone's best interest in mind when they created this.

Overall, I think this game is meh, definitely not worth the ten years we had to wait for it, or the $60-$110 dollar price tag, maybe $30-$40 dollars for the base game. People say its a must have for die hard Star Wars fans....but I feel like that is false. For the people who love the franchise and really care about this, they wont spend all this money supporting EA, as we all know if this game makes them loads of cash, they will continue to release games after this with even less content and effort, as they find it acceptable since we shower them in our money. I could have added so much more to this review, but I feel this covers a lot of major topics(And I'm lazy AF)

Well, I hope you all enjoyed my two cents on this game, feel free to let me know how you feel about this(whether you agree or disagree on any of the point)
And for those who were looking for a Battlefront III, "This isn't the Battlefront you are looking for"- 100% accurate words from Obi-wan.

I played the demo and it was quite playable and certainly had the `starwars` feel to it,so when the game was released i went for the cheapest option £49.99 with the most expensive option being a massive £94.98!! what a rip off.
i am already not a great fan of EA for ruining the C&C series ,all they are interested in is money which is clearly demonstrated by the £94.98 option.

The game is download only so you don't even get a disc or box so you couldn't give it away when you're bored of it.
Anyway to cut a long story short i played the game for 10 hours and it wasn't for me,very repetitive game play and you just know that EA will squeeze more money out of you with DLC so i got a refund which you have the right to do on Origin if you are not happy,so feel free to buy it and try it out for 23hrs then get a refund if you don't like it.
it looks and sounds great and certainly has a starwars feel as i said but it lacks that certain something and i wont be wasting my time on it.
As someone else mentioned it lacks space fights (there isn't any) but most of all DLC just p^&*$s me off so screw you EA ;)

At launch there are lots of sound and networking bugs as well.

This gets us to the game play. It's too fast to die.
You spawn, you die. You walk a bit, you die. You finally see a guy and get him, but then you die.
    die.die.die.

Not for me. Needs some of the Star Wars magic, not just the great A/V presentation.

Also very expensive for so little actual game. At launch it was $79.99 CDN, and the DLC pack for a year is another $69.99. That is insane. EA needs to pull it's head out. There is no game here, just pretty graphics. They should be offering a year of DLC as part of that ridiculous $*) for a game charge.

Not recommended unless they drop the price, or offer a lot of free content and game fixes.

I would return it, but I can't now because I gave it a chance to improve or grown on me.

This is a shell of a game with no real depth , innovation or even enough content to be sold as a $60 game.
It is clear that the investors and producers put all their effort and money on the graphics , creating some of the best looking environments we've ever in a video game.
Problem is , that their forgot to work on the gameplay. As a DICE fan and a huge fan of the Battlefront series I must confess that this is their worst game yet.
Don't expect to get a Battlefield-like experience out of this , even I - being a huge STAR WARS nerd , often find myself getting frustrated when playing this game. It is mindless , repetitive , offers no variety or strategic gameplay.

The Singleplayer mode is a joke , badly designed with no replay value or enough content to keep you entertained. The Multiplayer is also very restricted when it comes to options , you can't even host or join other user-created servers , there's no VOIP in a 2015 game and only a couple of Game Modes are actually worth it.

This game should have had space to ground battles , clone wars , capital ships flying over your head , a dozen of planets (the game only offers 4) , intense vehicle combat (there is only 1 ground vehicle in the game).
It's like while they were developing this game , EA and DICE did a lot of coke and decided it was a good marketing idea to sell graphics with the 'Star Wars' Title and threw away everything that made Battlefield so awesome.

So , in conclusion , I give this game a 4/10 , as a Star Wars fan I could have given it an 8 but this is a freaking video game so if it doesn't pay well , it doesn't matter if you render the rocks perfectly.
Dear EA , in a day were people play Minecraft (the worst looking game) , you decided to spent all your budget on recreating rocks to a photorealistic level instead of just adding a few more maps and a proper campaign mode. Well done!

Thank you for reading , don't buy the game unless you're a huge star wars fan and don't know much about game design because if you do , you'll only get frustrated.

I even bought the season pass. So, where to start? Game mechanics are way too dumbed down. Shooting is very simple, weapons and equipment are not well balanced, some are too strong, some completely useless. Controlling the fighters is almos like autopilot, you lock-on, and then you shoot, then you kill, and then you also die, the process repeats. Very dull and boring.

Customization is a joke, helmet-less Stormtroopers? What? A bazillion of heads, that's it.
The starcards equipments, the only one I see people using is homing missile (a anti-person seeking missile) and the barrage (a nade spam launcher) and grenades.

Objectives in the game? Forget it, there is no point taking down the AT-AT, you will die time and time again, trying to enable or disable the uplinks, this game doesn't encourages team-play nor going for objectives. The game doesn't offer Battlefront 2 liberty to go where you want. Forget it, imagine a huge corridor with AT-ATs in it. That's Walker Assault and Supremacy (supremacy doesn't have the AT-AT), all the other modes aren't much more than a simple deathmatch game.

The only actual vehicle you can play with is the AT-ST. The AT-AT is on rails, you can't drive it. Taking down an AT-AT with the Airspeeder is automatic, it spins around the walker automatically and all you have is a dumb mini-game where you try to maintain the dot inside the grey area and that's it. If someone starts shooting you while you are doing it, the tow cable is detached and you crash into the ground.

It doesn't have enough maps, only four for Walker Assault and Supremacy. The maps that are here, do not give you freedom to roam around. Remember the chasing scenes with the speeders in Endor? Forget it, there is not room for playing with the speeders. There are not nearly enough weapons as there could have been. And you know why? Because you will have to buy the rest of the game through DLC.

There are invisible walls in some areas in the rebel base mountain in Hoth that have invisible walls. You can't get to the top of the mountain, even that there is a path to it, there are invisible walls in other areas as well that you could go to with Boba Fett, but you hit your nose on these walls.

So, this game is a complete disappointment, terrible. I'll keep playing, yes, but only because I can't get a refund.

This game will probably be dead in 6 months.

    Scores:
    Graphics: 10
    Sound: 10
Content (unlocks, maps, weapons, vehicles): 3
Map layout for walker assault and supremacy: 4
Customization and characters models: 2 (there is actually only 2 models, 1 for rebel and 1 for Stormtroopers, the only thing that changes is the head)
    Product value: 2
Replay value: 3 (get's repetitive after a week)
Gameplay: 5 (cool at the beginning, but gets boring very fast)
Jetpack unlock: 10 The only cool thing

2nd poor benefit system for PTFO
this is a very very teambased game. Most of the games you see a team camping and just going for kills. At the end screen of a match the dude with most kills is being showed and highlighted. IMO the game need to improve the award system in a manner that playing the objectives highly rewarded.

    3rd. Spawning is a nightmare-
you spawn miles away from action, getting back into action takes more time than santa needs to bring all presents to all kids worldwide. It is a pain especially for players that like to rush.

4th Handblasters as primary for regular troops WTH?
This is kinda looking dumb, regular troops have rifles not handblasters- i would go with it if they were secondary but then some need a heavy nerf. At least the DL44 is way to OP.

5th Airvehicles are a kinda nightmare
poor controls, no roling, autoaiming no flightstick support.

    6th Stormtroopers without helmets
now THAT is ridiculous and the heads are the same as the rebel ones.

overall i dont see a long term motivation to play the game. After playing of 2 hours you get tired and turn it off. It is not like BF in which you can easily play a whole day. Looking good is not enough for me. Im just glad i trusted myself and only bought the standard edition.

However, the experience is only surface deep. The only unique game mode present is Walker Assault while the rest at slight spins on already well established game modes. That isn't the root of the issue though. The game lacks serious depth in terms of community with no functions to facilitate it such as having the ability to create your own private clan/army/splinter cell. In addition to this the guns are wholly underwhelming and don't differentiate themselves from one another outside of differing fire rates. The fact that no true anti-air weapons exist is laughable to the point that the game promotes players to camp vehicle spawns in Walker Assault.

With everything being said the scores here don't matter. EA has fleeced me of my money once again. Perhaps this will be the defining moment when more of us begin to properly consider who is behind making the game instead of falling for pretty trailer in the future.

I love bloodborne darks souls 1 and demon souls. I also like halo destiny and modern warfare.
Which brings us to starwars battlefront....and my overly long incoherent ramble haha

This is a tough review as the galaxy really is divided as this is not a proper game or it was until it was rushed out unfinished or at worse intentionally released incomplete as part of an insipid cash grab.
I've never experience anything like this.
A potential great game stripped to the bones with mostly amazing sound and audio but then some insidious business model forced upon it.

    Research and costing
So I have read every critic review I could find about 20..and I have read about 100 user reviews and comments and forum posts before making my purchase.
I could not justify paying for a game so many argued were flawed knowing that it was without a single player campaign and knowing that that choice wasn't so they could make the best game they could...it was so they could make the best game they could in the allotted time frame.
I ended up trading in games to justify the cost and paying £25.

For £25 swbf is a good deal.
But not if you then have to pay for a psplus account.
I had a strong feeling I'd not be playing long so bought 1 month at £5.
So total cost £30....£30 is too much for this game.

No critic reviews talk about the actual, cost I the uk of this game.
If you want the complete game ...and I say that as the game has only a few recycled maps which get boring so quickly it's spooky that there is no way it could be described as complete.
sadly as is the case across the board from guns to vehicles to heroes and modes....there is a lack of everything and all of it is pretty samey.
So the complete package costs a terrifying £110 for game plus dlc that's like $150!!! And if you want to play 90% of the modes add another £ 40 for psplus...that's omg....£150... For a game which will, still have fewer everything than the previous instalment ...ten years prior....:-0
£150 and the game isn't perfect

    The business model
The business model is so awful and obvious that I would argue the game should be free.
Yes 100% free and then you purchase extra weapons! characters , emotes! junk etc. but not maps.
This dlc map cr@p will only divide an already divided community.
    Swbf is a divisive game.
It is aimed at fans but also casual newbies.
So we end up with half the players owning just the bare bones game becoming bored very quickly of the few maps and modes and the other half after paying a fortune being I'm guessing quite happy.
But still half of these will be unhappy that the game is very arcadey and simplistic lacking any real, depth or substance.
Why would dice and ea and Disney do this?
Why would they also not allow modding or much split screen or co op modes and an award friend a pairing system...why a lot of odd choices in this game?
Simply because they don't care and they have spent half the budget in marketing the game and tricking and lying people on what it looks like and how it plays.
The trailers are amazing....the game is nothing like that , not remotely which is a shame as it shows what the game could have been given a little more time and love.
The star cards system is a product of that system which screams micro transaction grooming and the random coin pickups shouts gambling. Everything you do in regards to gameplay and progression seems to be geared up to prepare a child for ea apps which are cash cows for a soulless company hell bent of ruining gaming.

    Graphics
What we do have is a game which looks pretty but still has a lot of pop up and jagged edges and few wow moments. The animations are plain and especially on the heroes. Everything looks similar and not quite good enough after seeing the trailer or those amazing stills.
I would say that the game doesn't look real it looks like the toys of the film in that it's all so ...sanitised.
Even the many scuffs look like a texture scuff afterthought.
The vehicles look off...they aren't as weighty as previous bad ass instalments like the rogue squadron series or even previous battlefronts which at times were notoriously floaty feeling but looked solid.
A good looking game though with little slow down and a pretty consistent frame rate.

    Sound
Music is perfect...it's starwars ! But it's often not appropriate for what you are doing...many soundtracks seem odd and there is often too much music when it be nice to have planet ambience.
The sound effects are great but rarely do,the guns make a sound which shocks or awes.
Run out of character lol Conclusion: buy next year or for less than £25. Prepare to be disappointed if you love games and or starwars. It is what it is...sadly it's all we have so if you need a fix buy it...but then trade it in a week later

The lack of single player already disenfranchises those with poor internet connection as well as a slap in the face to the rich history of Star Wars that could be told in such a beautiful engine.

The resources that EA saved by ditching single player was obviously not spent on multiplayer. There are no server browsers and there are no auto fill (assuming the game can even find you a lobby). It seems there are about 3 modes that the majority of people play and the rest get shunned. It takes quite a while to actually get into a match.

The lack of weapon choice is also distressing as every blaster seems to be the same with no way to customize it. The options given to the appearance of your character were also rather dismal given through a oddly calculated credit score system.

I will say that this game is absolutely beautiful. The graphics are on spot and the sounds is amazing. However the ascetics can only get the game so far. Without the substance that the FPS genre has developed over the past few years, of which this game lacks, and without a coherent story arc, I am not going to be satisfied with this game as it currently stands.

I believe the future of this game will be just like Titanfall. There will be a big hype for it for a few months and then the game will absolutely die without people playing it. There is no replay value and nothing to keep players enticed to keep playing while 2016 has a huge lineup of AAA games coming out.

I hope you enjoy the game if you buy it, but it seems that the people on all the review sites that give this a positive review are only reviewing it positively because they are in a last ditch effort to put the game in a good light and keep the community going as they realized that soon this game will be dead and no one playing it.

Gone is being able to select where you spawn, it's either spawn with your 'partner', which I still have no clue how it is assigned (played many matches without even getting one), or at a random location. If you want to pilot a vehicle in 1st person no luck only 3rd person.

The weapon selection is basically 2 versions of guns (assault rife, machine gun, pistol, etc), one for the rebals and the other for the empire. One with slightly better stats in one field and lower in the other.

To make the vehicle situation worst you can not even steal the enemies vehicles as they are handled as power ups.

The equipment is reduced to 2 cooldown 'cards' and 1 limited use 'card'.

If you are hoping maybe you'll get a battlefront with destroy-able buildings, nope. Ewok tree cities can withstand a orbital bombardment and only lose the railing.

It seems in dice's desire to keep the game from being called a Battlefield:Star Wars they ripped out everything that was there before that shared similarities to Battlefield.

I want to like this game. It is by far the best looking Star Wars game I have ever seen and there is so much potential. I think the only reason this game has not gone the way of Titanfall is only because it is a Star Wars game. If DICE doesn't add a lot of new content soon for cheap the playerbase will move on.

I think the only reason this game has not gone the way of Titanfall is only because it is a Star Wars game. If DICE doesn't add a lot of new content soon for cheap the playerbase will move on.

Battlefront has a very shallow progression system. After a few hours of play all the weapons are unlocked and they have no upgrades. After a few more hours all the perks and powers are unlocked with the important ones upgraded to tier 2 which is maxed out. After that the only thing to earn experience and credits for is cosmetic changes. And now everyone is a shadow trooper or alien.

The are 11 total primary weapons. At least five there is almost no point in using because another similar weapon is better in all respects.

The rebels have no land vehicles at all. Imperials have the AT-ST which is easily killed since anyone can carry quick locking homing anti-vehicle weapons. Heck, even the sniper rifle does significant damage to the AT-ST. I do not count speeders since they are only on Endor and its hard to impact the battle when you spend most of the time avoiding obstacles.

There is effectively no matchmaking system. I have seen far more one-sided fights than close finishes.

Air vehicles sometimes make a rare contribution to the fight, but often times they just fly around the battlefield avoiding those homing missiles or fighting each other.

The game types are just pathetic. There are a bunch of modes that almost no one plays, like capture the droid/flag or control points. The only new gameplay type is Walker Assault. Imperials have to protect an AT-AT, rebels kill it. That is the only new innovative mode.

I keep trying to play this game, but I can only do an hour or so before I want to play something else.

Although the game looks great and you really feel like you are in Star Wars. That soon wears off as you realise that the initial excitement is all there is to it.

Also there´s no campaign. The multi player mode is a mess as players spawn all over the place making strategy and team work pointless. The survival mode is too easy on normal level and too hard on hard level (I didn't even try master level). You cannot save your game progress which puts a lot of pressure on your playing through 15 very hard rounds of battle. Especially if you get stuck in a wall (which is easier than you might think). There no way out but suicide which sucks hard when the game is this tight and every life matters.

I had looked forward to trying out different vehicles but now I just avoid them. The most fun is the speed bikes on Endor but you only get one (yes one!) training mission with them. They could have been a whole game within a game if players could have raced against each other.

The aim on walkers is completely off meaning you have to fire well above your target to hit it. Same with other vehicles and ground based guns. The x-wings are not fun to fly or dog fight in and targeting anything on the ground is impossible without crashing.

Of course not all is bad. There are some great things in this game but it does not matter how great and cool Luke Skywalker is when the empire has these lame Jumping StormTroopers with automatic shields and flying kits. Worse are the invisible Shadow troopers. Now because of realism i'm sure, my gun overheats quickly - fair enough - but at the same time Shadow Troopers take 5-10 shots to the face at close range before dying which means you have to hold the trigger down. Very disappointing that im subject to realism but the empire is not!

But what I really miss is a campaign with lots of iconic scenery that you can play through in your own while enjoying the whole atmosphere and vibe of say Hoth.

Last but not least. The game is ridiculous expensive in itself and with more expansions to come EA is asking for even more money later. Had it been worth it I might even have considered.

But oh boy. What a great missed opportunity! Although the game does look great :)

But the atmosphere is the only good. laser guns shoot very strange and you can't kill more than two, and even one kill is hard. You'll die often even if you are good at playing shooters. I games mode, heroes vs villains.

Company is not! This is the main disadvantage. In the game star wars needs to be company. But we have only training. And there are videos that are short but beautiful. I would like a company with the same beautiful rollers, but it is not. There are only boring multiplayer.

Star Wars Battlefront looks beautiful and still runs great, managing to stay over 100 fps on my 980 Ti/i7 4790k on ultra settings in 1440p without any overclocking past my factory overclock. Post processing injectors can make it look EVEN MORE beautiful at the cost of some performance. In layman's terms, it's really pretty and easy to run.

That's the extent of the pros of Battlefront. I got it on sale for $30 and it still felt like a ripoff. Offline options are limited to premade "missions" that all feel the same and don't offer much replayability, although they do provide a good opportunity to sort of "preview" each weapon in the game to see which one suits you best once you unlock it. The multiplayer is entertaining if you can manage to get put into a game with balanced teams and good ping; Battlefront doesn't let you choose servers, and even if you leave a game due to poor connection or imbalance, it will frequently put you into the same server upon searching over and over again. Starting weapons completely suck compared to higher-level monsters such as the EE-3 or DL-44, the latter of which you can conveniently unlock if you pay for it (though it has received a nerf since it's starting overpoweredness, it is still quite powerful). Luckily, the first two guns you unlock, the DLT-19 and DH-17, are both very powerful weapons in their own right. The delay on unlocking many game-changing cards makes the lower levels feel like you're a serious underdog, and can be satisfying if you outwit and outperform all those level 50 Shadow Troopers and Twi'leks with their fancy gear.

Overall, if all you're looking for is a Star Wars simulator with great graphics, wait for this to go on sale. Personally, I'd say this game is worth around $15 to $20. The $60 asking price is like someone selling you a can of your favorite drink for $60 because it has a fancy can cover. Sure, the can cover is fancy and looks nice, but is that really worth a whole sixty dollars?

First the game could be better. It feels pretty shallow and overly simplified.
For instance if you compare it to the Battlefield series, those games had a lot more going for them.
More interesting weapons, vehicles, parts of the environment could be destroyed, and mainly better games that allowed some meaningful strategy, tactics, etc.
It's getting harder and harder to find games, people must be bored with it already (less then two months after opening).

Why I give it a negative because EA still refuses to do any sort of realistic anti-cheat control.
Currently after playing for one or two hours I run into at least two to three obvious cheats.
Losers that can see through walls and other obstructions, using ainbots, etc.
Recently cheaters coded a new exploit where they can shoot super burst shots that will kill your AT-ST in a single shot.

For EA/DICE security is an afterthought.
If EA really wants to catch and curtail the cheating they would have a full time anti-cheat team of their own instead of some off the shelf easily beat 3rd party system.
They could do real time server monitoring, and have a serious client side effort that could catch cheaters within an hour or two.

ALL of EA/DICE games have the same problem, but they choose to ignore it and pretend it doesn't happen instead.

I skipped most EA/DICE games since BC2, now I'm sorry I gave them another chance and I'm burned again.
    Don't waste your time.

It is another cash-grab from EA of a massive brand which has been executed in shambolic fashion. It feels like nothing more than a Battlefield Hardline reskin and will probably die just as quick.

Battlefront promised so much but gamers have been left with a content-starved title that consists of a few bland and barren maps, a selection of uninspiring modes and very mediocre combat mechanics. The game looks reasonable at times but the lack of substance and a grand experience especially when compared to Battlefield 4 as of now makes this product feel utterly pointless even for die-hard Star Wars fans. Regular FPS fanatics will feel short-changed at what's on offer as after just a few hours of play; you've seen everything this game has to offer.

The most unforgivable aspect of Battlefront is the lack of a campaign or Story. This should have been a mandatory inclusion but has ultimately rendered the game a missed opportunity and just inflates the fact that this is nothing more than DICE and EA grabbing cash to satisfy their shareholders before the bumper year-end payoff. As usual; the season pass will provide future content but you will be long bored before then as the game will be soundly removed from your hard drive and never to be touched again.

Star Wars and FPS fans should avoid at all costs as this is nothing more than a quick cash-in and an opportunity to milk a popular brand without delivering anything that constitutes to a satisfactory experience. The multiplayer is a shallow experience and the product itself falls considerably below standards in terms of quality and material. A huge insult to gamers, fans and the Star Wars brand alike. Pathetic showing from DICE and EA all round.

DICE has become a company that just makes pretty things that doesnt work - in their whole lifetime there will be **** that doesnt work like you could expect from a fullpriced AAA title. Hit detection was the major problem in their previous games on this engine, as of now its more like the whole thing - the aparently spend so much time on graphics and sound that everything else is rushed or left out. This game is an insult to Star Wars fans everywhere.

In modes with turrets and vehicles you are just cannon fodder - you instant-die from whatever those things fire at you. On top of that they have area damage and they are hard to destroy - so if you get a good score it means you are either in a vehicle, a turret or you became an unstoppable super unbalanced overpowered hero.
Gamemodes without vehicles are much better to play, but again - the unbalance comes off right away. The higher level guns you have unlocked the easier your killstreaks will become.

The sounds is alao really well done. But that is about it. The looks and sounds of the game are the good things. Basically everything apart from the game itself is good.
Which brings me to the bad things: The gameplay.
How can a game be so boring? So stale? So bland? So dull? So skill-less?

Gunplay is random, deaths are random, powerups are random. It really doesn't require skill. Nothing does. You will never see someone extremely skilled be on top of the scoreboard, purely because they are good, because even bad players can get on top if they are lucky enough to have good powerups or enter a lot of vehicles (which is only available for the Empire).

There is no teamwork, since it is simply not possible. Matches are as follows:
    1) Spawn
    2) Shoot
    3) Kill
    4) Die of a random nade or powerup.

This is only extended a long time if you use powerups. It's just boring. There is 0 variety in the game. My fear is that everything will be in DLCs, which you need to buy ofc...

Plus, the higher your level is, the more powerful your traits will be. It makes new players not only fight against experienced players, but also against players with more health/damage!

A perfect game for short sessions. It’s not deep enough to convince online shooters veterans, but it will definitely win over Star Wars fans. [01/2016, p.34]

Star Wars Battlefront looks and sounds great, and with Battlefield-class gameplay could have ruled the multiplayer galaxy. Unfortunately, at best OK-level, Battlefront-class gameplay is much too shallow to last long. And this is THE one license, which really needs a single player campaign. [Dec 2015]

Any semblance of subtlety is abandoned entirely when it comes to the playable Hero and Villain characters. [Jan 2016, p.110]
