    Sonic Origins is an essential collection not only for any franchise fan with current or last-gen gaming hardware but also for anybody who appreciates tight gameplay with a banger soundtrack. Sonic is the ultimate "Animal With an Attitude" mascot still having major games released to this day, and while the franchise has had a tarnished reputation due to sub-par releases lately, it remains plucky and pushes forward, never losing sight of its roots.

    In all Sonic Origins is a good way to experience the original four Sonic the Hedgehog outings, but it isn't without its issues, namely the locked content and the occasional glitch. This reviewer recommends Origins to anyone that’s a fan of classic platformers, or is a fan of collections that include never before seen art of the Blue Blur and his friends and foes from the Genesis/CD era!

    Sonic Origins offers the best way to experience these classics on PC through Retro Engine ports including a new one for Sonic 3 & Knuckles with bonus museum content and cut-scenes, but Sega needs to fix the filtering issue that makes this look blurry and also address some of the bugs that hold this back from being as good as it should be. Having recently been verified on Steam Deck by Valve, Sonic Origins is also excellent on Valve's new handheld system where I played it for review alongside the Switch version.

    Although it is a nice homage to the first adventures of the hedgehog, Sonic Origins could have deserved a better finish. Overall, this compilation is correct, but the options offered are not enough to make up for certain shortcomings. Despite a really successful dressing with its cartoons and colorful interface, SEGA's game constantly oscillates between good and bad. We're having a good time, but for Sonic's 30th anniversary, we were right to expect more games and surprises. Especially at a price of forty euros.

    Sonic Origins is a raw deal, providing little content with questionable edits. The widescreen support, drop dash, and Mission Mode are welcome additions, but they all come at a (steep) price.

I know that Origins is not perfect in a lot of ways, but it gets the job done and I’m sure Origins Plus will fix most of the issues people have with the game. And to those who are upset about the Sonic 3 music fiasco, I am upset that Sega didn’t just use the tracks from the November 1993 Prototype, but it was a sacrifice they had to make to even get the game rereleased. Recommended for those new to sonic or those who are in the mood for some old school fun. However, the DLC isn’t really worth it and really should’ve been included within the base game. All in all, had a lot of fun viewing the new cutscenes that connect each game as well as playing the new mirror and mission mode!! This will definitely be my definitive way of playing all 4 classic games for the future!… Expand

    I am disappointed, I wanted to be happy for the release of this game but it just wasn't it. It's dumb this game got other games delisted.

    If you're a brainless Sonic fan - you will buy it. Another try to make money on Classic Sonic games, what has no sense.
