    There is too much wrong with Sonic Forces to recommend it to everyone, but if you’re hankering for 3D Sonic, and you’ve finished every other Sonic game, then check it out on sale.

    Despite my multiple gripes with Sonic Forces, I still enjoyed the adventure. 3D Sonic games still aren't to where they should be after such a long time of iteration and experimentation, but through improved gameplay and level design, Sonic Forces continues the series' evolution in the right direction.

    Poor controls, short and few levels: the game is over as fast as Sonic runs. It has its moments, but considering the positive prerequisites, the technical shortcomings make the game a mess.

    We get the impression that Sonic Team wanted Forces to be the Best Sonic Game Ever, with a Greatest Hits package of everything good in the series, but they didn’t have the time, money or talent to accomplish this. The 2D sections control poorly, and the 3D sections sport the same problems that the series has had since Sonic Adventure – such as dying if you don’t play the level exactly as the designer intended. There’s fun to be had, but even then Forces feels so cheap and abrupt that you’ll be finished with it entirely in 4 hours. It’s not the worst 3D Sonic game, but in trying to do everything Sonic Team didn’t really accomplish anything. Next time, stick to just Generations 2 or Colours 2. Or even better – give Sonic entirely to other developers.

    Sonic Forces is not, like several entries in the series, offensively bad. There are some stages where you can’t help but be swept up by its breakneck pace, pounding soundtrack, and chaotic pinball table levels. It’s just unfortunate that it was released so soon after Mania, which took the best of old Sonic and made it sparklingly relevant again. Forces, however, is plagued by inconsistent level design, floaty controls, and a risible Saturday morning cartoon storyline that only kids and rabid Sonic fans will find entertaining.

    I won’t pretend that Sonic Forces is a disappointment – it telegraphed its kitchen sink approach to content a long time ago. Desperately trying to please every kind of Sonic fan, it is every bit the mishmash of half realised ideas vying for your attention that it seemed like it would be. I guess I just never expected that their attempts to hold that attention would be so feeble.

    dont care about the biased ratings it doesn't make any sense that they gave colors and generations such good ratings while forces is getting more hate than positive ratings

    After fullly playing this game it was a train wreck and the gameplay felt strict with movemonet.     Pros :
    Good Story
    Good soundtrack (Sonic stages)
    Beautiful graphics
    Nice level designs

    Cons :
    Controls feel so strict with movement
    Trying to turn is like trying to turn while boosting
    So much button delay (not because of lag)
    A broken game when released
    Avatar stages DO NOT fit for 2d sections the controls feel so strict while trying to move in air
    Recycled stages and stages that could have been left in mania
    Classic sonic has no use to be in the game
    Avatar soundtracks are nothing but Dupstep , Nightcore music (not that bad but the vocals need to go)
    theres NO DRIFTING IN THIS GAME which makes the gameplay feel even more stiff even for curves
    Homing attack system has been nerfed and delays A LOT
    This game was made for the whiny oc fans
    Cutscenes are bugged and you can only watch them at 20fps
    No idle animation (which fans somehow complain about this)
    Going through the red hoops or any hoops makes sonic/avatar keep spinning while in air
    Boost is still uncontrollable especially for curving
    Boring boss fights
    Hard difficulty feels too easy
    The physics with modern 2D stages are broken and really bad platforming
    Stages are way too short

    Overall still a fun game but just needs a big patch to get rid of these bugs and improve the gameplay.    … Expand

    One of the most boring games I have ever played.

    Sonic Forces is a game that generated a lot of hype through the trailers and clever    One of the most boring games I have ever played.

    Sonic Forces is a game that generated a lot of hype through the trailers and clever marketing. The trailers also made the game look more promising than it ended up being. However, the game does not only have bad aspects, but I'll go into more detail now.

    Pros:

    - The soundtrack is a masterpiece, as always.
    - The graphics are good, but definitely need improvement, as compared to previous Sonic games like Generations or Unleashed, it unfortunately doesn't come close to those games.
    - Episode Shadow, those 3 levels from the DLC were really a lot more fun for me than any other from the main game.

    Unfortunately, that's it for the positives at this point, let's move on to the cons.

    Cons:

    - The game is VERY short, maximum 2 hours are needed for the complete game. But that's normal, when the stages only last 2 minutes.
    - The story of the game really leaves a lot to be desired. It is so uncreative, boring and sometimes really illogical. In addition, it seems very rushed due to the short game length.
    - The level design is the straightest I've ever seen, I mean it's even straighter than my f***ing ruler xD So straight that even the drift had to be removed.
    - The physics of the game is really trash, really ultra trash. Of all 3 characters.
    - Also a pity is that instead of giving one of the many other characters their role as a playable character again, another char was invented, which in the end was just a 2nd Modern Sonic, so in the end the game consists of 4 Sonics XD (the 4th one is Shadow since he plays 1:1 like Sonic)

    All in all the game has disappointed me very much, and I really hope for the Sonic Team that they make the next game better.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In this game you have Infinite boost. The bosses are only Zavok, Metal Sonic, infinite and the Robot of Dr. Eggman (not Egg Dragon). The classic has useless drop dash. The avatar unplayable with his homing attack. Sonic is doing boost with a character that cant do boost. The ost music is ok but not gut, all the ost music is the remix of the old one. What is Silver doing in this game, in sonic 06 the future of silver didnt happen. i wish that in next Sonic game 2021 the Sega will do a better game that this.… Expand
