    Gameplay wise, the game is excellent. The story is well told, and the lore surrounding the world already takes my interest. The world looks like feudal japan, a dark, gritty world. Full of blood, war and creatures you wouldn't expect. But in all its gritty, dark world building. In all of this, there are wonderful locations to be found. Secrets to discover.

    Sekiro certainly is a great game I enjoyed a lot. I can wholeheartedly recommend this game to anyone who is in search of a challenge, enjoys a Japanese setting or tight gameplay.

    By far the best and most complex combat in the series. The exclusion of all but one weapon choice allows for a lot of combat mechanics to revolve around that weapon. Setting is much less grand than the previous games, but still engaging and well crafted. The game is difficult, but all encounters have a trick to beating them.

    Will you die? yes. Will you like it when you shove your sword through the boss (mini-boss) that you were stuck on forever, it will be treasured. Until you see it again... ;-; will be glad to go through the game again and get every achievement again.

    This is my first time completing a From Software game and it is perfect. I'm on my 3rd play through and have been enjoying every moment of it.

    The combat is so thrilling, intense, dynamic, tactical, satisfying and fluid that I find myself coming back to this game even after having beaten it 4 times 1 year ago and still enjoying it like the first time I played it.

    Every souls game have dodge and hit gameplay style you should play like that generally for finish the game but in this game deflect more important from physical dodge you can almost finish the game with only deflect acutally Sekiro isnt harder than other souls games there are just new mechanics and permanent katana.

    After doing the game 100% and unlocking every single achievement, i feel like i can finally make a review of it.

    I will list my pros and cons and then make a small comentary about it: Pros: + Game is very polished, and i did not feel like i was getting BS killed as it happened sometimes with the Dark Souls games. + Combat is more dynamic than any of the Dark Souls, and also more    After doing the game 100% and unlocking every single achievement, i feel like i can finally make a review of it.

    I will list my pros and cons and then make a small comentary about it:

    Pros:
    + Game is very polished, and i did not feel like i was getting BS killed as it happened sometimes with the Dark Souls games.
    + Combat is more dynamic than any of the Dark Souls, and also more than bloodborne.
    + It has a story you can follow without reading 400 item descriptions.
    + "Bonfires" at bosses door makes it far more entertaining, as it allows you to fight them full HP and items, so you can play more agro, and it's also a LOT less infuriating when you die.
    + Graphics are really beautiful. I wish i had a monitor over 1080p to play this.
    + Defeating some bosses for the first time feels like a real achievement, not crappy "ez mechanics" like Storm Ruler on DS3.
    + Customizable controls!
    +Had way less "♥♥♥♥ it im leaving it here" with this game than with any other fromsoftware title.

    Cons:
    - Once you get the parry system, it's more of a walk than anything else to be honest.Combining NG+ and NG++ i only died to bosses 3 times, doing the two longest endings, and one of them was because i ran out of battery on my controller.
    - It only took me 42 hours to unlock every single achievement and complete 4 runs (from ng to ng+++).
    - Although you have a lot of prosthetic tools and upgrades, and habilities at your disposal, if you learn to parry almost every single one of them is rendered useless.    … Expand

    Now my second favourite FromSoft Game right after Ds3, its a beautiful game and the combat feels great and is really fun to learn but also hard to really master.. I absolutely adore this game, its a beautiful game. As a finishing remark though: I hear a lot of people are calling this much harder than Dark Souls, however I myself think its much easier if you understand the combat systemNow my second favourite FromSoft Game right after Ds3, its a beautiful game and the combat feels great and is really fun to learn but also hard to really master..     Having played all dark souls games as well as Bloodborne I thought I was well prepared for Sekiro. I soon realized i was not. A lot of the mechanics seem similar yet so different. The combat system is stunning. As I never used shields in any souls game, always just grabbing the biggest weapon I could get my hands on I had a hard time getting used to deflecting. Majority of combat isHaving played all dark souls games as well as Bloodborne I thought I was well prepared for Sekiro. I soon realized i was not. A lot of the mechanics seem similar yet so different. The combat system is stunning. As I never used shields in any souls game, always just grabbing the biggest weapon I could get my hands on I had a hard time getting used to deflecting. Majority of combat is deflecting attacks and boy it is satisfying to get a streak of perfect deflects. Most boss fights are so incredible that I did not mind at all getting my ass smacked over and over. Especially Owl (father), I died to him at least a dozen times yet I enjoyed every single fight. Most bosses have unique movesets and are very challenging yet beatable.

    Story is very engaging and despite wanting to go for the Shura ending I chose the Purification mostly because of the want to be the "good guy". Character dialogues hide a lot of secrets and similarly as in other FromSoft games most of the story is hidden. Most characters, including mini-bosses, have an interesting backstory worth exploring through eavesdrops, item collection and easter eggs.

    Death is arguably more punishing than in souls. Upon death Sekiro loses half his Sen (money) and a lot of experience. Neither is anyhow possible to regain other than gaining new. The skill system is very intricate however I found only a select few of the skills to be useful. On the other hand the prosthetic tool upgrades were one of my favourite features, however difficult it is to fully upgrade all of the tools.The best part about Sekiro are the bosses. Never being a fan of big bosses I was very sceptical of the Guardian Ape. I was pleasantly surprised how well done the boss is and I enjoyed it as much as all the swordfights, which are absolutely spectacular. The only bossfights I did not like were the Divine Dragon and The Folding Monkeys. Other that those two, all bosses are a masterpiece.    … Expand

    My friend told me that this game was easier than Dark Souls so I decided to play it. It was a huge challenge for me to adapt to it's settings but after some time it payed off in the end game.
    Game is beautiful looking, quick paced combat and has some interesting story + lots of Japan mythology references. I recommend it from the bottom of my hearth.

    Probably the most refined combat system in any game. You'll struggle early on, but when the combat finally clicks you'll enjoy the hell out of it.

    One of the best games i have ever played. It just takes a lot of patience and practice to get good at it, but its definitely worth it. Get this game if you are ready to spend a good amount of time on it.

    Sekiro is far away from other souls-like games and doesn't try to be one of them.
    Actually, there's no need to. Just plain and simple as it is.
    The gameplay perfectly fits the storyline and visuals.
    If you're one of those that like watching more than anything, I'm sure you'll like this game as well!

    In order to see the beauty of the game you have to fight for it and earn it. If you have this attitude then this is the game for you. As I expected, the graphics are gorgeous, the music is amazing, the story is brilliant, and the play style is fantastic! On top of that it's challenging but rewarding!

    Anyway, this is a great game from the devs of the SoulsBorne series, the combat is satisfying and the difficulty isn't too bad, if you learn how the game works and how the fights should play out. I highly recommend checking this game out if you're a fan of the 'Soulslike' genre, although it all comes down to personal preference.

    Very fun game.....makes you smile all the time and laugh a lot till you have tears in your eyes. I'm very close to completing the game now. Ooh the joy of fighting bosses and those cute mini bosses. If you find a giant bell, just RING IT!!!! Yes I love this game a lot. Totally recommended!!!

    One of my favorite Fromsoft games, VERY close to bloodborne and dks1 in the run for my favorite
    they raised the already sky-high bar for combat and level design the game also manages to be harder than the souls games while not feeling unfair (to me, at least) at any point.

    After 3 playthroughs and 100 hours of playing I can safely say that this game is great and worth your money. The most fun thing about Sekiro is the combat especially in boss fights when you start getting into the rhythm and the flow of the combat, it feels so satisfying.

As a From Soft veteran the initial challenge was simply learning the control scheme, afterwards from that i was not prepared for the intense and epic battles, the evolved puzzles, and the branching story with 4 different ending all requiring you to set out and do different things in your playthrough.     This game is amazingly fun and frustrating at the same time. The frustration comes from the difficulty which is expected. Unlike the SoulsBorne games, this is a new type of combat system along with a heavier focus on the story. You will be disappointed going into this thinking OH its a japanese style dark souls.

    Was pleasantly surprised that it's not just a weird souls-like with jumps and grappling hooks set in feudal Japan, but a completely new experience that plays differently in every major aspect. Hope it will do what Souls games have achieved and will define a new sub-genre.

    Wow. Another soulslike, but better than all that came before. Though the story is not as developed as in other titles (like in Bloodborne), the combat really shines. Fights are faster then ever, which makes it intimidating at first, but being good at deflecting enemy strikes feels that much better.

    In the pure Fromsoftware style, this Sekiro can surely attract every souls lover for the high challenges of the Bosses.
    Unfortunately, even if the gameplay is impressive, I can't say the same thing about the plot. And since it's also an adventure game, I judge this as the only truly big flaw of the game.

    I went from hating this game because it was too hard to being so obsessed with it that I 100% it. Give the game a chance. The fighting is tough but it is like a dance, you just have to learn the moves. You are missing out on one of the best games ever made if you give up.

Once you master the combat it'll feel satisfying and you'll be slashing through this game as smooth as butter. Beautiful story with beautiful sceneries.     Good combat system that feels refreshingly different to the Souls series. It's great going toe to toe with a human-sized, sword wielding opponent, and trading blows and blocks for sometimes minutes on end. It really captures that sword-fight feeling.

    Very good game I love the way that you actually do sword fight with strong bosses that can block and parry you're attacks and they all have something unique to them with special move that go alongside with using the sword. And then there MONKE which the first phase of it was hard because he was not using a sword compared to his second phase which was much easier because he was.     Was never a fan of souls-like games, but this game is just clicked for me and it's a masterpiece. Bosses are difficult yet enjoyable and very rarely do I feel like a boss is simply unbeatable because I don't have the right-build or items. It was entirely skill based.

    So rewarding, it's the feeling you'll get from this game after you face your wall of enemies you thought you couldn't beat, from mobs, to mini-bosses up to bosses... and just when you thought you are the Sekiro God, they throw you the final boss to wipe your @ss for you clean!!! Hands down one of the best final bosses ever made, glad i picked it up after sleeping on it for years.

    The moves in fights are incredible, and when you are doing the final attack to finish the enemy, that animation with sword and blood is fantastic. Also, fight with almost every boss is so exciting, their moves and animation while you are fighting is something which can’t be described with words, you can only feel it when you are playing.     Great game. Don't let the difficulty put you off. Gorgeous graphics and exceptionally well designed stages and gameplay. The first playthrough will always be the hardest but most memorable.

    The best in the souls series. In my opinion its got a few of the hardest boss fights in souls games. Such a well designed game. Combat is fluid and intriguing, the world is beautiful. I have beat the story twice on console and had to start it again PC. If you love the souls like genre, you should try this one.

    10/10 will come back to this after unlearning Dark souls smh.

    Until i perfected my craft. What makes Sekiro so great you ask? The atmosphere. The beautiful environment, the music and the folk lore inspired story. Not something you care about? Solid gameplay, fluid mechanics and fairness. That's right, above anything else Sekiro is fair. Above all else what makes Sekiro so great is the gradual improvement you make. I thought I lost the ability to rage at a game after I beat Manus, until this game (no Gael and Midir were simply fun fights that I purely enjoyed, Nameless King too while we're at it)    Pros:

    A marvelous game. It can be brutal at times, but the feeling of beating a tough but reasonably fair boss is great. Truly a fitting follow-up to fromsoft's soulsborne series.

    The hardest game I've ever played in my entire life, but the combat system is so satisfying to use. all in all a must play. i had no experience with any souls-like game until I played this, and it was an amazing introduction to this genre of games. will definitely be replaying this one a couple of times, for sure.

    I'm glad that they made the story easier to follow in this compared to the Dark Souls games. The story is great but goes on for a while. The gameplay is more difficult in some ways and less in others.

    Shadow falls, and things return to their original owners. Adoptive father owl in Longquan River's backstab, but can't make an immortal contract between Yuzi and Wolf, while in Tianshouge Wolf backstab adopted adoptive father owl, which broke the immortal plan of adoptive father owl.

Second time I actually played the game after having some experience, it's challenging: until you get the hang of the bosses moves and counter often. 3rd play through is easy: you'll have mastered countering and see how repetitive the bosses are. 4th play through was a spreed run for me. 5th run I got bored of being OP. As a lover of the stealth genre it's painful tio watch players stand on the top of a building with a huge vantage point that allows you to scope out the area and plan you attack just jump into the middle of four to five enemies yelling that the game is too hard. There's more than one way to play this game. I'd definitely recommend it to stealth action players and fans , not to casual Souls fans.… Expand

    Very good game. in a lot of ways better than the dark souls series. It is very fast paced, combat relies on black and countering and this is done very quickly and needs to be precise. The ability to jump, and grapple around is a lot of fun. It a lot of ways this game is a mixture of assassins creed, and the dark souls games.

    This the most authentic depiction of shinobi or ninja, well at least better than naruto. The game demands just one thing, attention and reflexes. In dark souls or BB your success depended on builds but here its just you and your katana. Thats all you need to master.     Amazing game one of my favorites. Combat it beautiful and simple yet never gets tired. Prosthetics are an amazing tool and it seems like every enemy and boss has a specific counter. There are multiple skill trees and each ability you get changes your character a significant amount. Each skill changes the way you play or approach a fight. Yes it's difficult to play but the feeling of reward I got from beating bosses who I've been battling for hours(sometimes days) is so satisfying. You have to literally go into this game with the mindset of a professional boxer. There is going to be a lot of rounds to fight(expect to die a LOT)and you'll need to get good at studying yourThis is one of the best games I've played in a while. Yes it's difficult to play but the feeling of reward I got from beating bosses who I've been battling for hours(sometimes days) is so satisfying. You have to literally go into this game with the mindset of a professional boxer. There is going to be a lot of rounds to fight(expect to die a LOT)and you'll need to get good at studying your opponents, looking for weaknesses, and exploiting those weaknesses in a careful and timely manner. This game is chess not checkers. You also have to be a glutton for punishment in playing this as well. This isn't one of those games that will ask you if you want to decrease the difficulty because you keep getting manhandled by a boss or mini boss. You died? Too bad. Go back and try again. This game is THAT much of a savage. Those who gave this a 1 star review either thought it would be like something else entirely or just aren't built to tackle a truly challenging game experience. They want their hands held like childern and be able to beat a game easily. I played this game for 5 and a half months and got the most rewarding platinum trophy in my ps4 collection.… Expand

    There’s no leveling (in Soulsborne sense of the word), no covenants, no multiplayer, no variety in armor and weapons. It could be written off a stylistic choice, if the rest of the game didn’t feel very similar to the previous FromSoftware games. But it does, so Sekrio comes across as rather shallow. [Issue#237, p.28]

    Sekiro Shadows Die Twice is a milestone in the genre. It offers complex, stunning and precise sword fights and duels that its predecessors lacked, and from which its successors will have to keep up with. You no longer simply learn by repeatedly and unfairly dying, but you refine your talents as a player. You seek unique methods to overcome each boss, rather than just rolling at the right time before spamming a few hits.
