Pues no...

No puedes mejorar a tu personaje, (o si). Dejenme explicar...

As a fan of Dark Souls series I expected something similar. But I played it for a while and bounced off of it fast. It's quite different from Dark Souls. I'm not fond of the feudal Japan and samurais theme

Sekiro is a good game. The combat system is fresh, visceral, and fast paced, the bosses (albeit lacking in variety) are difficult, and the prosthetic tools give you a fair number of options in playing through the game. I thoroughly enjoyed the 20-25 hours I spent playing through the game.

However, (and unlike any of the prior Soulsborne games, all of which - even DS2 - I enjoyed immensely) I feel no impetus to go back and play the game again. There's no variety in terms of build or playstyle - the skills you acquire are either completely essential (grappling hook attack, regain hp/posture on deathblow etc) or completely superfluous, and there's always enough skill points to go around, so you never have to spec into any one tree. The prosthetic upgrades are gated in a weird way that requires you to upgrade all of the tools (even the ones you aren't using frequently) before you can reach the final upgrades you want, so you can't even spec in different prosthetic tools in a subsequent playthrough.

In previous From Soft games, there were options to vary your playstyle, giving the game replayability. Even in bloodborne (arguably the least 'deep' game in this regard, due to the limited number of trick weapons,) you had skill, strength, arcane, and bloodtinge builds, that played very differently, and could approach various bosses and levels in completely different ways. This is not the case in Sekiro. Every playthrough, no matter what, you will be a sword-wielding shinobi with minimal ranged options. You will defeat your enemies by parrying their attacks and hitting them with a sword when openings present themselves. You will use the axe to break shields and posture break enemies, the shuriken to bring down jumpy enemies, the firecracker to stun beast enemies, and the rest of your options...rarely. The combat system, when mastered, is actually quite a bit more forgiving than in previous games, so there's little challenge in going back and and replaying the game once you've mastered it (I started a second run, and got to Genichiro'in Ashina castle before actually dying - and I got him on the second try, too.)

Basically, Sekiro is a fun game, and I don't regret the time spent playing it. It's definitely worth the time you'll spend on a single playthrough, but I don't know that I'd recommend buying it at it's current price. Unlike every other Fromsoft game I've played, this one I'd actually recommend waiting for a sale to pick up.

    Very, very good game.
Combat is a perfect mix of FromSoft X Rhythm game.
Very much like dark souls if not more forgiving in some aspects.
But definetly much tougher in others.
    Best looking FS game.
    It actually looks beautiful sometimes.
    Music is barely noticeable.
    Copypasted minibosses.

I beat Sekiro NG+3 with No Charm and with Demon Bell Rung. Here's my review.

This is an EXTREMELY POLARIZING game. Some will LOVE it, but some will ABSOLUTELY HATE it. And I perfectly understand both sides.

This game is absolutely not for anyone. If you thought Dark Souls I/II/III and Bloodborne were hard, then wait until you play this. Sekiro makes those games feel like casual games; but I'm not saying this with delight. I'm not saying this is entirely a good thing.

Easy stuff out of the way. Graphics are fine; graphically looks like polished BB and DS. Art style is PHENOMENAL. Enemies and bosses look distinct and great. Areas look and feel distinctly Japanese and awesome. Sound is good. They borrowed some sounds from DS and BB which adds a little nostalgia. Music is GREAT. Stealth mechanic is fine. It's fast and fluid, and stealth kills are satisfying. Stealth's a little simplistic and the enemies are very blind when it comes to stealth, but it's fine. Level design is good also. Grappling hook matches well with levels, and makes you feel like a proper ninja. Story is good. Typical nebulous FromSoftware plot, typical grim and vague characters. Yet somehow, lots of backstory to be discovered by reading item descriptions and reading between the lines of the dialogue. The main draw is the combat.

Yet also, the most controversial part of this game is the combat. To sum it up, the game basically demands absolute perfection. You must parry at the exact time. You must dodge this exact way. You must delay your dodge exactly 1 second. You must jump this exact moment. You must only attack in this exact window. Every single boss and mini-boss demands this of you. I can easily see 80% of people who bought this game to give up after a few bosses because the game is simply so exhausting to play. Bosses absolutely CHUNK your health bar, so you die often. Because you die so often, you learn so very little per attempt at a boss. Additionally, early on you'll realize that you can often get stun-locked to death.

The game goes out of it's way to make you feel like you're getting nowhere. If I didn't buy this game, like a friend lent it to me or something, I would've gave up on it after a few hours. But since I bought it...I went ahead and finished the darn thing. You know, sunk cost.

Anyway, more combat mechanics stuff. The harder bosses do this thing where they switch up their attacks mid combo. On paper, this sounds cool; it makes the game more challenging. But again, in practice this simply makes the game irredeemably unforgiving.

There's also a mechanic wherein after you exploit a boss's weakness thrice, the weakness stops working just because. I mean, I get it, exploiting it again and again would trivialize the encounter, but this mechanic is guaranteed to kill you 2-3 times before you realize what's going on, merely adding to your frustration. Makes sense on paper, feels bad in practice. There's a lot of that going on in Sekiro.

The spirit emblems mechanic in Sekiro feels bad too. I get it, it's meant to limit your use of your gadgets, make you use them strategically. Sounds fine on paper, in practice, it makes you be a scrooge about using it, wondering when is the best time is to use it. By the time you've learned when and where you can use your emblems, you've already figured out how to beat the boss WITHOUT IT. You can swap health for spirit emblems, but you already know how hard the game is. You'd never do that. They should have just used a cooldown mechanic instead, so that you are free to use it, yet also punished for misusing it. They went too far with the spirit emblems.

Enemies also have these long grapple animations which look cool the first time you get hit by them, but since you die so often to enemies, it immediately becomes annoying to have to watch your character get mauled when you already know you're dead. You'll think "Goodness just kill me already so I can try again! I already know I'm dead I don't wanna watch this AGAIN stop rubbing it in my face!!!"

We haven't even talked about Kuro's Charm and the Demon Bell.

One makes the bosses hit harder, and the other makes it so that you take damage anyway if you don't perform a perfect parry. These two difficulty-increasing options just make the game more infuriating. Again, I beat the game with these things activated. I already "got gud". And let me tell you, it didn't really feel good to beat the game this way. It feels weird to have those features. Like, why bother making one of the hardest games this century even harder?...It's hard to explain, but if I were one of the devs, I would've suggested to remove the charm and the bell entirely since the game is so freaking hard as it is.

When all is said and done, Sekiro is cool, but I wouldn't want a Sekiro 2

In this game, you will be fighting bosses for most of the time - I've reached the final boss by the way. So, what about the combat? Well, you are pretty much glued face to face with your opponent for 80% of the time. Sekiro is a fighting game (with some light stealth segments).

Keep trying to like this but I find it really boring.

Every fight I've engaged in is a parry fest, so many buttons I keep pressing the wrong ones and trying to find the right way to go amidst all the dingyness is a real pain.

I think it's got some good idea's that were put together haphazardly. Tenchu on the PS One is better.

Maybe someone should've told the devs, that making it a **** hard game doesn't make it a better game.

I love the worlds and plots of the souls games but at the end of the day I love these games because the combat is amazing, and Sekiro has easily the best combat of any game I've ever played. You are limited to one weapon this time, but the things you can do with it combined with the combat arts and special techniques makes sure it never gets boring to use. Most people only use a few of the many weapons in the previous games anyways, so I don't mind this change as much as I thought I might. The movement changes are a lot of fun and make the way you can interact with the world so much more fun. The areas are some of the best designed in fromsofts games. It being such a different style of world to Dark Souls and Bloodborne makes it feel fresh again. Where certain areas in those games felt like different versions of themselves. Like the poison swamp areas and the catacomb areas, and the lava areas, etc. The main flaw of the game is the way it's balanced, certain abilities and prosthetics feel like there's no real reason to use them. I like all of the characters a lot, but their side quests could have been done better. Sekiro had the most intuitive side character quests of the fromsoft games which is a good thing. Previous games required a guide or hours of wandering around to progress. I love the more direct method of story telling Sekiro has as well. Expand

    - The world is really connected, i've seen people do speedrun and also Ymfah's guide on breaking RPG games, so it really From-ish world model

    - Combat mechanic is pretty new to all Dark Souls and Bloodborne players, which is blocking is the key of survival and also parrying. The fun part is, there is no stamina, so you can attack enemies as much as you want

    - As a SoulsBorne player, being able to jumping, stealth and swimming is a miracle

    - The world came from Miyazaki's head, which is no surprise when you'll stumble on a level which you'll have to go across a poisonous swamp

    - The story is amazing, multiple ending is also great

    - Death is not an end to this game

    - Unlike Dark Souls and BloodBorne, there is no perfect waifu material

    - The leveling mechanic is really frustrating, and there is no way to re-obtaining your money or exp once you're dead, but i still love the game

    - While the game only offer your Vitality up to 20, but your attack power can reach into 99 if you really into the game

Conclusion: I really like the game, but the game is pretty much dead, so there will be no DLC (As far as i think), the only thing that kept this game alive is the mod community itself, though i starting to see that they're dying as well, not like SoulsBorne community. But, compared to Dark Souls Remaster, this game is worth the money you spent

Fantastic successor to Tenchu and compelling action adventure game that carries Fromsoftware's signature design elements. The flow of combat to its core is very rhythm game-like, but has so much impact. This game is more like a Zelda and Tenchu than a typical Souls game in terms of progression and structure. Great story, characters, levels, movement and world design.

For the first time, with rare exceptions, I didn't complain about hitboxes, which in their previous works seemed designed by visually impaired people... they probably have hired more capable developers.

The game is objectively difficult, deliberately bastard, but surprisingly easy to understand. Many enemies will test you, but once you understand the moveset it will be downhill. And this is obviously in line with the souls-like trend.

Much more action and less RPG, even if it comes with some features in line with the genre. Sekiro certainly has less replay value as you won't be able to make any particular builds, the protagonist is a Shinobi and his weapon will remain the same from start to finish.

That being said, I find the game challenging, unique, and enthralling. Whenever I put it down, it’s only a few hours later I say to myself “Maybe I can get a little further in Sekiro.” and plop down in front of it again. I find the combat enjoyable, but I can see where people may not enjoy certain aspects of it. All in all, if you enjoy faster paced combat that has focused mechanics with minor tweaks here and there to optimize, you’ll enjoy Sekiro.

    The Good:
    - Level design is top notch. A lot of inter connectivity between zones and a lot of hidden goodies. Multiple ways to approach an encounter or the entire zone.
    - The story is far more fleshed out and enjoyable in Sekiro compared to other From games. I at least knew my main objectives and didn’t have vague directions.
    - Enemies are well placed and thought out for different approaches and attacks.
    - Combat can be tricky to learn and has a high risk high reward aspect. A lot of the bosses have gimmicks to help which also teaches you about different aspects of combat.
    - The entire feel of the game. I feel like I am a Shinobi assessing and approaching in stealth. Finding weaknesses to exploit and holes in patrol patterns.

    The Bad:
(They are a bit more in depth, but that’s because they’re a bit more specific.)
-The combat is built around blocking, parrying, and attacking till you either break their stance or lower their health. A lot of DkS players may find it repetitive. I’ve heard it akin to Simon Says, where the enemy does something and you do your inputs to counter, and that is very true. Every boss can potentially be beaten if you played the fight perfectly. However, playing a fight perfectly is no easy feat. It takes a lot of practice, but if your reflexes are good you can absolutely learn every fight and play it perfectly.
    - No variety. You ARE Sekiro and Sekiro IS a shinobi. There is no magic, there is no shield. Your sword is your only reliable offense and defense. Stealth can be difficult to utilize but is required, so if you mess up you’re either dead or running back to reset the zone to try again. Even the boss fights are a mash up of block, parry, or dodge, it’s just learning what to do when.
    - Inconsistent rules between players and NPCs. Every boss has a huge health bar that barely moves when you hit them, but Sekiro can die from a strong breeze. Now this is a bit normal in From games, but never to this extent. There are bosses where health damage is next to impossible so you’re forced to break their stance. Sekiros stance gets broken often, but if you break an opponents, it’s an instant kill.
    - No I-Frames. Now I don’t necessarily agree with this aspect. As if it’s normal to be immune to damage just because you’re rolling or dodging, but it was a staple of From games and a lot of players found it an unwelcome addition.

Again, I don’t particularly agree with some of those criticisms but none the less, there will be people who find them pretty challenging to look around. I personally have a blast when playing Sekiro. I think it’s a welcome addition to the SoulsBorne series and enjoy the changes they made. Other From games are more about the player projecting themselves onto the player character. This game wants you to feel like Sekiro, a stealth Shinobi completing tasks for his master. I feel like I earned the power the game gives you. You start with nothing but your sword and a rope. Eventually you’re spitting fire to ignite your blade to pull off attacks that annihilate groups of enemies in 1 hit. I feel like I’ve really helped this character grow to be a god-like swordsman from starting with a simple slash attack. You really feel a shinobi starting with basic sword training who has difficulty with ordinary enemies and progressing up to killing dragon gods. There’s a lot to do in this game and just going back and replaying a section with a different approach is very entertaining. For some, I can absolutely see why it’s a perfect game.

It took me like an hour to defeat the first mini boss! Spent 8 hours on a couple of bosses each. Of course this goes way quicker if you actually look up tips on how to fight the boss which I would not consider cheating because even after you know what needs to be done, executing it, is quite another story in and of itself. The story was OK but the VO acting was pretty darn good though. I am in NG+ and it seems to have very little replayability IMO. Its no Bloodborne but I would say I like it better than the Dark Souls series which I can't seem to get into as much. If you are into Japanese lore and like a challenging game I think it is worth a peek. Expand

No objective markers. You're on your own figuring out a complex maze. There are lots of times when you can get completely stuck with no idea of where to go next. But there would be a hidden pathway or a blind jump that you need to take.

Story/characters are not explained. You just get to know one thing. That you need to save the prince. Who's killing whom and why. Why are loyal subjects

    An unsatisfying combat system.
    Sudden extreme difficulty spikes.
Parry timing is way too small.
You can't customize any weapons, armors.
Stealth doesn't work (I upgraded to max)).
Figure out the rhythm of the bosses by dying. Totally impossible (even for Sekiro character himself). Then rinse and repeat.
Punishing death-penalty (no surprise since it was made by the same sadists from Dark Souls).
Limited exploration. Invisible walls. Hidden (but compulsory) pathways.

I rate this product with 0 mark, because of a huge frustration and disappointment which this game gave me. I beated all the parts of the dark souls series many times, but suckkiro is way too hard for me. The game counstantly holds you in a hard tension and concentration. Two hours in this game feels like I have played 24 hours. This is not a game already its more like some kind of a human performance test. I dont like parryng **** in dark souls and I never used it. Sekiro - the whole f game is parrying, wtf FROM? No balance, ordinary enemys are worthless, but boss battles are completely impossible. You can die from one shot easely and this is expectable and acceptable, but its not when bosses have tons of hp.

    Pros:

TLDR - Bloodborne, but they took out everything that made Bloodborne work, and set it in Japan, and also modelled it around the most finicky combat tactics from the Soulsborne series (namely parrying, which for some bizarre reason the fanboys try to argue is not actually a core, essential part of the gameplay loop despite being exactly that) FromSoft has continued their degeneration fromTLDR - Bloodborne, but they took out everything that made Bloodborne work, and set it in Japan, and also modelled it around the most finicky combat tactics from the Soulsborne series (namely parrying, which for some bizarre reason the fanboys try to argue is not actually a core, essential part of the gameplay loop despite being exactly that) FromSoft has continued their degeneration from tough-but-fair (Demon's Souls, mostly. Dark Souls 1, 95%) to Tough-and-****-the-player. The game plays nicely when it works, but unless you're a major masochist with hyperactive reflexes, I can't recommend it.

Full text - Sekiro just doesn't do enough right to reach that same point of enjoyment. Your health is too low to start with, to the point where the first non-tutorial boss (Chained Ogre) can very easily knock off 50-75% of your health, roughly, meaning that if you take a single hit from your average enemy prior, he will kill you in one hit. Even if you live, you have a high chance of being flung off the map, which gets rid of the last of your health, making your respawn token's worthless. This is exacerbated when you reach Shinobi Hunter Eshin of Misen, who can take you from full health to dead faster than you can blink, you are given the opprotunity to pick up the Mikiri Counter combat skill, however it is damn near impossible to get it to work in the moment. This is both made worse by the fact that any attacks that result in a synced animation (grab attacks for instance) have some serious phantom range, to the point where you can dodge directly behind the Chained Ogre's lunging grab attack, and still get grabbed as the ogre yeets himself 180 degrees and grabs you anyway, the same thing can happen with Enshin. In no particular order I personally experienced multiple instances of being knocked out of the air by attacks that very clearly did not hit me and being grabbed out of the air by attacks that very clearly did not connect.

I could go on about other things, about how the game can't tell if it's trying to be a fast paced action game or a stealth game, how the combat just doesn't match the game and it's difficulty in conjunction with your pitiful amounts of help, the game itself being generally misleading out or outright deceitful, like how it makes it clear early one that dodging is key, yet with most even basic enemies in the game, dodging is no guarentee that the enemy won't just spin in place like a top and hit you anyway. I could go on about how fighting more than one enemy at a time, which will happen very early on in the Hirata estate becausethe fact that enemies can see for miles is an absolute train wreck, or about how everything happens so quickly in a game that demands caution and precision making the game a miserable experience for those without the reflexes of a coked-up squirrel.

In short, like Dark Souls 3, it suffers from Bloodborne syndrome, albeit to an outrageously higher degree. Fast paced combat that has no place in the game, lacking all the systems that made it work such as the Rally system. There IS an upgrade in the first technique scroll that allows to recover health on a deathblow, but that isn't going to help you because you generally don't get that many deathblows when it would be the most useful (i.e boss fights), and knowing the pitiful amount of health you get at the start, it probably would be uselss anyway.

Hopefully by the time Elden Ring comes around, Miyazaki and co. will finally be over the hyper actively difficult game play that plagued Sekiro and Dark Souls 3 to a drastically lesser extent, and realize that it's just not fun having your skull caved in by relentless, artificial difficulty of homing attacks, low health at the start, and dying in 2-3 hits, and parry centered combat despite the fanboys screeching otherwise. If you're a horrendous Sadomasochist, I can see you getting mileage out of this. Otherwise, I really cannot bring myself to recommend this like I would FromSoft's previous work.

The atmosphere is simply amazing.

The combat is the most unique that I've seen, and it differs dramatically from other FromSoft games as well as most games on the market. Instead of whittling down a massive health bar, Sekiro demands precise aggression to break the opponent's poise. Fights feel extremely skill-based, and bosses that feel impossible at first try can be a breeze once you figure out how to defeat them. The combat is very focused on human enemies, however, and while the game attempts to deviate from them with certain beast-like enemies, I felt that they didn't quite fit into the combat system.

Overall, everything about Sekiro is absolutely stunning; its setting, its music, its atmosphere, and its combat. The story may be somewhat cryptic but there's a sense of sheer awe that's difficult to describe that holds true throughout the entire game. It's personally one of my top games of all time, and I think everybody who has the ability to experience it has to do it in their lifetime.

About frame drops, well I played in PC(I5-4440 3.10ghz 16 ram and a Geforce GTX 960) with high settings and it stayed between 50 and 60 the whole game !!! The story is great especially if you eavesdrop and give sake to people so you can hear their memories, so Overall, IMO apart for some minor camera issues, Sekiro is the most fun and rewarding game I ever played in my life !!! I give it a 9.6/10 !!! BB is a 9.3/10 DS1 is a 9.1/10
DS2 it's an 8/10 and DS3(It's the First Soulsborne I played, it is special) it's a 9.5/10 and until Sekiro came out, it shared the top spot with God of War 3 as the best games I ever played in my life, GOW 4 is a 9.4, Red Dead 1 its a 9.3 and Red Dead 2 its a 8.9 !!! Sekiro is amazing and I'm just Loving everything about the game !!!

I am a player that wants to enjoy a game, not curse and swear at it for being to hard (too fast, too much damage, my reaction skills very poor, my understanding of using tactics in this game)

Overall : really varied yet fun and complex mechanically combat system that is incredible.

Story : i dont want to spoil much but its a shift from the very sparse Fromsofware narratives, and its much better for it.

Graphics : if we talk about raw Graphical powers this is a good looking game, but when you factor in the art work and the world design it pushes it much further.

+ Very Immersive (especially with the japanese voice over).
+ Feudal Japan done right finally.
    + Amazing Soundtrack.

Nice and interesting story. Deep atmosphere. The concept with immortality, the consequences of resurrection, different types of immortality - generally delighted. I've seen stories like this in the books, but I haven't played one myself. The combat system makes you suffer wildly at the beginning. To sweat in the middle, even on simple enemies. And to fight like a real warrior with a katana in the end... but with bosses and mini-bosses, it's a little more difficult. They are all interesting and varied, but after Nioh, there is a deeper variety missing, not just different two samurai with different move-sets for example. Therefore, I was happy to fight the dead and monsters in this game.
This is a very unconventional game in terms of gameplay. We can say that this is some kind of experiment, or "test of the pen" in new mechanics. The fighting in this game is a real test of reaction and attentiveness. You can pick the enemy for a long time and persistently. Most likely he will kill you, but it can be that you can win too. However, the main feature of battles here allows you to parry attacks, knocking down concentration and killing him by inflicting only one hit in health - a fatal hit(or two on bosses).
    ...
And now what annoyed me or pissed me off:
    1) Oscars for the most bugged bosses of all time(After so much time, many bosses can be beaten to death by corny revealing weaknesses of... developers and testers, and not the bosses themselves). Some of them were repaired, but the most - still can be used.
    2) I do not know if this is a bug or such an idea, but a couple of times I have come across a wildly illogical thing, like, for example, a Shichimen in a palace hits with his beam through a mountain!!! to the other side of the water stream.
    3) Periodically, the fixing on the enemy/target flies cancel. It's not f***g cool when, in the middle of a fight, you simply lose a fixed target and instead of going around him in a big arc, you suddenly start running towards his strong attack.
    4) Very often the enemy ignores the petards when starting his attack. And no, it's not an enemy with resist to petards, because they work more often on that enemy, but this often happened.
    5) A mini-boss ninja the sewers(where game started) - It's just disgusting spitting at the players to make a dexterous and fast mini-boss in an extremely meager room with almost opaque walls, which many players complained about in the Internet.
    6) In a game with enemies as fast as diarrhea - the player swings with his attacks extremely slowly.
In my subjective opinion, this done on purpose, because why the hell does a character run at the enemy to strike with a sword, and instead, pompously and slowly turns around himself, swings and only then strikes with a katana?!
    7) ALWAYS! gets up after "stealth action". ALWAYS! And this is very dumb... every time you have to squat again. Constantly hit on the sit button if there are more then 2-3 enemies near you.
    8) The game is full of rifles and arrows, but the player has no f***g one of them.
I understand that the cornerstone of the game is swordsmanship and parrying, but it looks corny stupid. The character is a ninja, and they have always used everything that can be used to kill. Ok, let's not touch the noisy rifles, but the bows! ...No! ... just almost useless shurikens.
    9) About useless things: among the consumables, there are also a lot of useless ones. For example, I used ceramic pieces only twice in the game, because they either fly somewhere to the side, or even close to the enemy do not give any reaction... I will call candies useless not because of their effects, but because for a short time, having only three pieces for a boss fight is not having them at all.
    10) There is not enough variety in weapons, items, some talismans, and so on. Some of the skills and prostheses are almost useless in comparison with others, which makes the game even more "narrow" in this regard.
    11) I liked the graphics in general, but I understand the criticism from people that it looks a little outdated for the year the game was released.
    12) Curved hit-boxes. This does not happen often, but periodically and always makes the character a strong trip because this game is hard - the enemy can strike into the void next to you and you will receive damage. Even if the distance is EXACTLY far.
    ...
I definitely liked the game, but damn it, all these disadvantages spoiled the impression very much. If everything would have been done normally, I am almost sure that the hardness of the game would have been perceived a little softer and more enjoyable for me.

Sekiro is a masterpiece made by a director who is no stranger to making all time greats. I am actually appalled that this game received lesser scores from critics due to unwarranted bias like learning curve of the mechanics, difficulty, and streamlined and reduced RPG elements. I am actually appalled that this game received lesser scores from critics due to unwarranted bias like learning curve of the mechanics, difficulty, and streamlined and reduced RPG elements. The amazing combat/gameplay, art direction, soundtrack, atmosphere and graphics are all right up there with Miyazaki's three best Demon souls Dark Souls and Bloodborne. The game is an all time classic and easily one of the greatest video games ever made and that is no exaggeration.

Sekiro sitting at a 89-90 on metacritic is an insult to how good this game is. The game is not accessible to everyone who cannot handle difficulty (7.7 User score reflects this) but it is deserving of a 95 on metacritic and being ranked right up there with the greatest games ever created.

There’s no leveling (in Soulsborne sense of the word), no covenants, no multiplayer, no variety in armor and weapons. It could be written off a stylistic choice, if the rest of the game didn’t feel very similar to the previous FromSoftware games. But it does, so Sekrio comes across as rather shallow. Sekiro Shadows Die Twice is a milestone in the genre. It offers complex, stunning and precise sword fights and duels that its predecessors lacked, and from which its successors will have to keep up with. You no longer simply learn by repeatedly and unfairly dying, but you refine your talents as a player. You seek unique methods to overcome each boss, rather than just rolling at the right time before spamming a few hits.

Dozens of hours later, we're still not sure how we feel about it. It's a game of contradictions, open and flexible in its level design, yet resolutely strict in its combat... It is a brilliant game, that is certain. but it is often a difficult one to truly love. Naturally, we can't put it down. [Issue#332, p.104]
