    Even on my 5-year-old build, running a GTX970 8g, the game is more than playable. But make no mistake you will need some horsepower to run the game at its potential.

    This game, like so many today, lacks fluid gameplay or rather fun gameplay. The experience is tedious, slow and clunky without anything to keep you interested long term.     The PC port isn't perfect, at its release it suffered from numerous problems (including waiting forever for the game to download and install on Steam). But since when we pay so much attention to such small matters? You really think it's OK to give 0 scores to a brilliant masterpiece just because of some technical problems? That's ridiculous!

Spend 2 hours fiddling with settings trying to set up acceptable frame rate Switch from Vulcan to DirectX Now game doestn’t even load and immediately crashes Lose it completely and ask EPIC for refund - using their thieving convoluted refund process Get asked for the game ID after 24hours... Provide    How is this possible:

    God damn this game and you Rockstar team! I have been waiting for this game on PC and you have spoilt my impressions! I preordered the game and was excited about it plus you decided to release it on my birthday.
    The game is horrible about its optimization and performance.

    Le portage pc est une honte, si on ne peut afficher les textures à fond (il faut une carte graphique super chère car elles sont super lourdes), tous les autres choix sont hideux!     Beautiful open world to explore with a great deal of variation in the landscape.
    Game crush & disconnect problems with cheaters online spoils all game experience.

    The game is a masterpiece that deserves a perfect 10. I understand why some people are annoyed by the "tedious" animations and whatnot, but for a gamer like me it's just the perfection. The game's graphics are as beautiful as its mechanics. I just love to watch Arthur skin the animals, eat soup, make coffee. I love that I have to change my outfits, pick up your hat, shave.
    And the STORY!    The game is a masterpiece that deserves a perfect 10.     A few crashes. Graphical glitches--water looks like TV static and there's a thing that's floating in front of the player character but is "stuck" there. UI bugs as well. Mouse cursor sometimes disappears. Mouse sometimes doesn't click. Mouse sometimes "clicks" when it shouldn't. If you unpause, your horse continues moving, but you can't steer it because the game ignores some input for another 3 seconds, so your horse might crash stupidly. Lots of random freezes for 5-10 seconds. Several map icons don't show up when they should.

    Some bugs that may not be port-related as well. Some typos in the subtitles. One or two minor side quests don't appear.

    Very high graphics requirements. With a GTX 1080, I can only play at 1440p, high settings (not ultra). Basically no one can play at 4K.

    Strange 'cloud save conflict'. Might lead to data loss.

    Rockstar support is useless. Some agents barely speak English. Some don't seem to know the game's name. Most just tell you to clear your cache, which I'm pretty sure has never fixed anything for anyone.    … Expand

    First, this is the best looking game on PC, period. Nothing like this has been made until now. So,    I'm writing this review because it's just not fair to see this game user score here. 4.5 coming from people that were early adopters and had issues with the game, or others that expect their 2016 flagship GPUS and 10 year old quad cores, to take this game at ultra settings with 100 fps+.
    First, this is the best looking game on PC, period. Nothing like this has been made until now. So, being so sophisticated graphically, with some very taxing features, it's normal that at some settings even a 2080ti struggles. It was the same with GTA5, remember???This is not lack of optimization, it's more like the game pushing the graphics forward. In one or two years, new GPUs will handle it just fine. Don't be lazy, use the optimization guides on youtube and you can play this game at 60+fps no problem and still looking better then it's console counterpart.
    Second, I've been reading about a lot of crashes, people being unable to play it, but this was back in November. Ok, I get it, it's not a pleasure to pay a premium to have a game that doesn't work day one. But have some patience, one month later almost everything got fixed up. I never had one crash in the last month since I bought it. This game is massive and it's not easy to make it behave perfectly since the beginning, because we have so many combinations of computer parts and software in our systems.

    Putting all this aside, the game is gorgeous, has a great gameplay, it's incredibly immersive, lots of things to do and a lot to learn about (SUA 1899). There is nothing really I can complain about it, I just don't want it to ever finish.    … Expand

    Okay so let me start of by saying that we have 2 game pc's here. one bought this year and one five years old. The game would not even start on the older one. It would just crash on startup no matter what I tried to fix it.
    As I was at the point of refunding it, I tried to install it on the new pc (my gf's pc, yes she has a better rig then me, in my defense I bought it for her with her    Okay so let me start of by saying that we have 2 game pc's here. one bought this year and one five years old.     This is, hands down, the most beautiful, most finished, interactive open world game I've ever played.
    When it works, It's just stunning. The way the world is alive with great characters with depth, the way you naturally bond with your horse... It's just amazing.

    You eat, drink, sleep, get dirty and get to choose how you want to live your cowboy life. Be the good guy, the bad guy, something in the middle. It's up to you and all your actions seem to affect the world and how people interact with you.

    So yeah, I get people 0 bombing this game with reviews for not being able to play it and rockstar is the devil for forcing there own crappy game launcher, but the game itself deserves a straight up 10!    … Expand

    Game literally won't even launch and is literally unplayable. I've tried everything in their support page and more, my drivers are up to date, I disabled my antivirus, I updated Windows, etc, nothing works. Rockstar had plenty of time to release this game, it was bad enough they waited this long for the PC release, but to release it this broken this much later is no excuse.

    Not sure what the Critics were drinking. They gave a 94 while us Users averaged about ZERO. The game in its present state is pretty well unplayable.

    Ok, RS, amd did special drivers for rdr 2, where my old hd 7870 2gb is still in list. all i wanted is to play on minimal in 1024768 in window mode, but i cant do even this. after 20 minutes of *gaming* we have this cool mistake. i got 8400ssd8gb ram i thought its enough to run game, which is running on slow ps4. i thought to buy new vga, but as i see, people have troubles even on top pc.Ok, RS, amd did special drivers for rdr 2, where my old hd 7870 2gb is still in list. all i wanted is to play on minimal in 1024768 in window mode, but i cant do even this. after 20 minutes of *gaming* we have this cool mistake. i got 8400ssd8gb ram i thought its enough to run game, which is running on slow ps4. i thought to buy new vga, but as i see, people have troubles even on top pc. its **** guys. total fail. gamers tired of your gta full of modders with flying tanks. we hope u fix it. but i think no.… Expand

    У меня на i7 9700KF и RTX 2060 на ультра 16-22 фпс. Где оптимизация? Бывают вылеты,ошибки,у многих игра не запускается. Полный провал.

    Had to create an account just to make this review. I have a 1070 and Ryzen 2700, 16GB of 3000Mhz RAM.

    The game is a flippin' mess. Can hardly get 60 FPS at 1080p on low-medium settings. There is also an issue with textures rendering incredibly poorly, even when they're set to ultra (it looks like an N64 game).     Couldn't wait to play the game after work on release day only to get an error game unexpectedly stopped working error. Tried all suggestions, updated drivers, windows, changed resolution, ran as admin, still cant play a game i payed $60 for. Shame on you Rockstar - all trust has been broken. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Boring storyline, its an endless boring conversation. repelling missions, controls cluncky, very slow walk, weapon tab does collide when moving mouse. riding in missions and not being able to skip the endless boring talks, is the most boring thing in this game. playing for 7hrs...5 min action. Missions are too restricted, i once told my horse to flee by accident. When i try to get it backBoring storyline, its an endless boring conversation. repelling missions, controls cluncky, very slow walk, weapon tab does collide when moving mouse. riding in missions and not being able to skip the endless boring talks, is the most boring thing in this game. playing for 7hrs...5 min action. It feels like your character is moving in butter. shooting feels odd. dont buy if you want action!

    Muito mal otimizado a versão para PC, a maior placa mal consegue rodar o jogo no Full, a comunidade maioria baixou via torrent pirata, o jogo está esquecido já, e agora com este lançamento de mal otimização, o frame travado e falhas ao abrir, só tira ainda mais o alcance de uma comunidade decente no Pc.

При конфиге в 16 озу/ 1050ti/ i7 7700hq игра просто не держит fps. Повысив настройки до средних - 25 кадров. Вопрос! Где оптимизация?Наибольшее разочарование года. Первый раз решил купить игру в день релиза и в итоге получил 30 кадров при самых низких настройках (ниже просто быть не может). При конфиге в 16 озу/ 1050ti/ i7 7700hq игра просто не держит fps.     I want to love this game. But after spending over 30 hours on it with at least 7 spent on useless animations I must admit defeat. It feels like Rockstar have sacrificed a lot of things for the sake of realism.

    On my wishlist for a patch is;- An option in the settings for shorter animations - The ability to cook all meat of the same kind at once - More responsive and faster aiming -    I want to love this game. But after spending over 30 hours on it with at least 7 spent on useless animations I must admit defeat. It feels like Rockstar have sacrificed a lot of things for the sake of realism.

    On my wishlist for a patch is;-
    An option in the settings for shorter animations
    - The ability to cook all meat of the same kind at once
    - More responsive and faster aiming
    - Skip the animal rating, a pelt gets ruined if you use the wrong weapon or shoot it multiple times it's ruined if you do it right the pelt/carcass is perfect
    - Horses that doesn't fall because you rode too fast over a rock so small you didn't even notice it

    My wishlist for a future game is;
    - All of the above
    - Please, please, please let us as players be creative in how we choose to tackle issues in story missions

    I just wanted too love this game but I simply can't at the moment in it's current state    … Expand

    Ugly ass textures, even at 2.5x resolution scaling. GTA5 scaling is way better with noticable textures upgrade. What a waste of $60. Xbox one x version is better and more optimized. If you are playing on your small 27in monitor then ignore this. Try 50 inch plus tv.

    Had a great time on the ps4 and wanted to play it on my PC at a higher framerate. The game just literally doesn't work. People that are blessed by rockstar of david to allow it to run are getting horrid framerates on high end hardware as well.

    The game is full of bugs. When I downloaded rdr2 it take me 2 hours to start the game, there was an error and the game didn't launched. Even games from torrents launches better. Now I have bad graphics even on my monster I9-9900k, GTX 1080ti. The npcs are walking and stucking in hause walls. Mirrors have awfull graphics. Very bad start for the Rockstar ģames and us users.

    With Intel Core I5 quad cores (even last gen), the game freezes every 20 seconds, during at least 3 seconds. It is not a material problem, thousands and thousands of people with a lot of differents GPU got the same problem.     For the graphics the game is waaaay under preforming. Its extremely un-optimized and is very buggy. I have found that the pause menu glitches to much even for me to change my graphics settings without using GeForce instead. i also have found that the audio is very buggy and it clips and crackles all the time even when the game is not under load

    The worst start you can think of. 3 different errors do not even let the game run. The ECU launcher is similarly broken. Worst developers!

    I have not had one problem with the game fps is running amazing I do have a 2080ti and did all updates on everything from bios to gpu to windows update before I started the game it’s looking amazing with a 8700k 32gb 4000hz ram and 2080ti in 4k I’m getting 60fps with ultra settings

    Beautiful game. Had no problems with launching even on my quite old pc (fx 8350, gtx 1060 6gb, 16 gb ddr3). Have about 40 fps with default combo of medium/high/ultra settings (vulkan). Hope Rockstar will fix all problems so anyone pc user will be able to join playing this masterpiece.

    The story mode in this is absolutely phenomenal and without flaw, but the online is very lackluster and is quite empty. The map is so so expansive but has no content to entertain the play.

    the game closes itself several times, it stops working, it often can't launch the launcher, always crashes and asks for safe mode, just like GTA V did, it's poorly optimized, extremely heavy, and doesn't recognize all GPU memory even with new drivers, extremely bugged on PC version

    Доброго времени суток! Ставлю такую оценку потому что у каждого бывают неудачи и верю, что разработчики выпустят патчи которые исправят все имеющиеся проблемы игры.     TERRIBLE launch! don't buy until they fix ALL the issues! spent almost 5 hours troubleshooting and i still cant launch the game. worst launch i have ever experienced! and the support is beyond terrible! "please submit a ticket we would like to look into this" is ALL that you will get. DO NOT BUY.

    Please dont bomb the game. I know the start up issues. But they will fix it. Everyone does mistakes. And the game look way better in medium settings 4k res than the consoles. The ultra setting, how i see it is future proff. They easily could downgrade the settings. But they didnt do that. They give us lots of settings so that we can manage it as we want.     For a company that is making billions it is strange they would rush this product into release without it being FAR from readyfor release. I wont repeat all that has been said before me, just signing under everything that has been said.

    I have registered on metacritci spicifcally to let the people know, i am outraged with Rockstar and Epic Game Store for this raw release.

    For some reason i have little issues with running RDR2. Controls are a bit consolish and there are more than few bugs.
    Make sure you run dx12, Vulkan causes high frametimes atm. Running 60-75fps on High /w Ultra textures (2560x1080) on a RX5700 and a i5 8400.

    Hope Rockstar patches some issues.

    My wife and I ordered the ultimate edition through R* launcher and on release day hers crashed with 'Rockstar launcher has exited unexpectedly ' so with 5 minutes of adjustments added a command line switch if -windowed and then switched to full screen once in game.
    She now plays at 3440x1440 at around 60fps on the minimum spec card (ATI RX480) and 16G RAM on a 3rd gen i7.
    We've played for the last 5 days and aside from a few disconnects the experience has been amazing. We did note that after R*'s first path the command line switch was no longer needed so everything's good. A big bonus came from the unexpected level of maturity from 'most,' of the online players too. Aside from the odd KOS dickhead people do seem to have embraced the concept of 'live and let live' which I really didnt expect, maybe a reflection of the maturity level that comes with the better platform? Dont like what I'm saying for whatever reason? Then ask yourself why not, maybe you're one of those that shouldn't be around a PC, that's what consoles are for..

    On a hunting trip for a legendary grizzly bear. Went running after it all the way through a train tunnel. Tried calling my horse and realized I had to hike around the mountain all the way back.
    Ended up killing and skinning a ram.
    Found a man being attacked by a wolf, tried to save him but accidentally punched him and he died. O sea que la optimización para ps4 y xb1 es espectacular y sin embargo un pc de mil euros es casi incapaz de mantener los 60fps estables con todo en bajo. Nos tratan como jugadores de segunda sacando el juego un año más tarde y aun por encima tenemos que aguantar que a mucha gente ni le abra elNunca en toda mi vida me podía imaginar que una empresa como rockstar pudiese hacer algo así.     Flat out the crappiest and bug infested game that i ever played. Constant crashes and i also have the cursor showing at all time bug. I don't even think Rockstar acknowledge this bug so no patch in sight. Stay away from this game that's all im saying

    My biggest warning to anyone considering purchasing RDR2 on PC is that you need to have patience when you set it up. Take the time to go through each graphics option, compare your performance on Vulkan vs. DirectX 12, and tailor the game to your specs. Once you have the game tuned, there’s no better way to experience it than on PC.
