    RDR 2 is possibly one of the worst optimized games I've ever seen.

    An Xbox One X has a GPU that is roughly on par with an overclocked AMD RX580 and it can run the game at native 4K (3840x2160) at an almost rocks solid 30FPS. An Nvidia RTX 2080Ti is is generally 144-173% faster than an AMD RX580 in open world games with high simulation complexity (such as GTA V and The Witcher III),    RDR 2 is possibly one of the worst optimized games I've ever seen.

    An Nvidia RTX 2080Ti is is generally 144-173% faster than an AMD RX580 in open world games with high simulation complexity (such as GTA V and The Witcher III), according to UserBenchark.

    Of course, consoles are closed systems that are specifically designed for gaming so developers can use the available resources there more effectively, but Red Dead Redemption 2 also has low level API on PC (Vulkan), so the game should scale relatively similarly to the example above.

    Which means that even if we are just counting with 100% faster performance instead of 144-173% (so we are very conservative), the game should run at a locked 60 FPS on equivalent to console settings (with maybe some slight dips to 58-59).

    If we are not that conservative though and if were are counting with 144-173% performance scaling, the game should run between 73 and 81 FPS, with maybe slight dips to 69-70 FPS.

    But instead, it runs roughly at 40-45 FPS and can dip even down to 28 FPS.

    The situation is even worse (way worse) - with previous generation Pascal cards, and you can expect truly atrocious performance, even if you have a GTX 1080Ti (like me).    … Expand

    This is great game, probably one of the best open world games I've ever played, but it's technical state on PC is so horrible that its hard to enjoy playing this game.

    The PC port of this game is a joke, we are now over a week since the launch, and literally no issues have been fixed. Rockstar have released patches to fix the game for some people, but somehow managed to screw it up for others in the process leaving just as many players with an unplayable game. it constantly crashes and got alot of performance issues. (Im not even gonna get into the optimization issue with this game now, because everyone knows this game is badly optimized just like GTA5 was, hopefully that will also get fixed eventually.) But AMD is having huge issues aswell, i have a RX 580 4gb in one system and a RTX 2070 super in another, both suffers from the same exact crashing problem. I cant even get halfway thru the benchmark without a crash, i have contacted rockstar about the issue, and their replies is so useless im 100% convinced that head of rockstar have told R support to not admit there is anything wrong with this game. and as Gamers Nexus retweeted my tweet with here, rockstar should be ashamed for their absolute garbage customer support. It is actually so bad that rockstar dont even answer the tickets with individual replies, they just copy paste their replies. I see that there is players without any issues, and well... Good for you, but the amount of people that is having issues is still so huge that rockstar cant be excused or defended even if it works for you. If this wasent a wide spread HUGE issue, would rockstar copy paste their replies? No they wouldnt. Rockstar needs to stop releasing these half finished games, i never thought i was ever gonna say this. But we have reached a point in PC gaming, where UBISOFT have passed rockstar in reliability and optimization with their games at launch.

    And lets not even start on how rockstar refuses to give players a refund and the false advertising they did with the recommended specs. I truly hope that rockstar meant the game to be played with their recommended specs and just completely **** up the optimization, we`ll find out soon enough if this was false advertising to sell more games or not.

    I loved this game on my PS4 and couldnt wait to get it on PC, but the PC version of this game has been such a huge disappointment. If you want this game, wait until Christmas, maybe by then rockstar would have gotten their head out of their a$$ and fixed the issues with this game and the utterly useless launcher they released way to early.    … Expand

    Registered an account just to **** on this piece of garbage that should've been a simple port from the console edition. Funnily enough, I purchased this pc edition for shorter loading times and the modding capabilities. Little did I know the ****fest Rockstar had in for us. The game could not even launch on day one without deleting certain files. Wait until it comes out on steam so you don't have to buy it on Rockstar's **** and ugly launcher and maybe by then they will sell a finished product, not some triple-A, EA, Activision, scum-lord garbage game. TLDR: Yet another AAA title rushed for an Easy payday, do not buy until it comes out on steam so you don't have to deal with game-breaking immersion-breaking lag spikes.… Expand

Is this Denuvo at work again? Instead of buying expensive DRM that will eventually be cracked anyways, maybe they should spend more time and money optimizing their game.     There are enough reviews lamenting the performance of this title, so I'd like to alternatively explain why I just dislike the game. TL;DR: It's decent story wrapped in bad gameplay.

    There's a lot to like about RDR2. The world is stunning, the voice acting is superb, and the story is compelling. Past that, RDR2 has simply been a frustrating experience for myriad reasons: * Gameplay:    There are enough reviews lamenting the performance of this title, so I'd like to alternatively explain why I just dislike the game. TL;DR: It's decent story wrapped in bad gameplay.

    There's a lot to like about RDR2. The world is stunning, the voice acting is superb, and the story is compelling. Past that, RDR2 has simply been a frustrating experience for myriad reasons:

    * Gameplay: I've logged 100+ hours in-game, and I bet 70% of that has been crawling excruciatingly slowly through camp or holding `W` on horseback to get from point A to point B. It's cute for the first few hours when you're still admiring the natural splendor of the game world or hunting pelts, but it quickly becomes an eye-rolling time debit. I took to browsing Reddit during these excursions. Getting to the fun bits became an absolute chore. Fast travel (and the occasional horse riding montages) mildly attenuates the issue, but it isn't nearly enough.

    Traveling aside, missions are brittle, feeling like a rails shooter. Wander too far from the precious yellow path/area and it's an instant fail-state. Retry checkpoint. Get off your horse inches short of the yellow X target? Unacceptable. Get back on your horse and travel those extra inches...to trigger the animation of you getting off the horse. Ugh.

    * The missions: "We have to get the MacGuffin! Oh no, there's more resistance than we thought! ~Shootout~ Wew! We made it out of there alive!" That's nearly every mission in RDR2. This template quickly loses its charm. There are a few genuinely great missions. Trying to find your comrade while drunk in a saloon was hilarious. Trudging through a bayou looking for a mysteriously disappeared worker while a terror lurks below was genuinely tense. But these are the depressingly sparse exceptions amid the overwhelming permutation of boring, samey shootouts.

    * Controls: The key mapping is needlessly bizarre. Closing context menus uses `Esc`, except when it uses `F`. Right click to focus iron-sights to shoot an enemy while near your horse? Enjoy instead auto-locking onto your horse instead! Fisticuffs are done via `F` and `R`. (Ugh.) There are gobs of awkward interactions that could've so easily been polished. Moreover, if you play in first person mode, your viewport is constantly hijacked by jarring character animations. It's fun to press `W` and have your character briefly run sideways. The lowest mouse sensitivity is *way* too high. (I had to fiddle with the DPI on my mouse to make the game playable at my preferred sensitivity.)

    Folks have been having significant technical issues. I have too. I've had crashes, the overlay bug, poor optimization, etc. But to me, that's the least damning thing: even if it ran flawlessly, it just isn't that great of a game.    … Expand

    i can't play game 1 sec, so i don't know how fun this game.

    Even with 2070 Super, I can't play even 1 second.... this game is say "don't play game and get out home".... so this game is god game.

    The game is amazing, but you have to play it to enjoy it. unfortunately you can`t play on pc. It crashes, you have bad performance and when the game doesn`t crash it is the Rockstar`s launcher that crashes and closes the game as well.

Thank to rockstar games team of people, youve made a real world of America 1900 that no one can made. Best and beast!     Game was running quite good on my 9900k and 2080 super around 60 fps on 2K ultra settings. PC control scheme is terrible tho, but still quite fun game. Then I got to Valentine and it started to always crash there after few minutes. I managed to get refund from rockstar support after hour of waiting, and then trying their ridiculous advice, which did not help.

    Deep.

    Wide.

    Brilliant in every single detail. And there are thousands of details.

    I was just thinking today...if they would say to give them more money so they can create another title that is this good - I would give it to them.

    I am glad I gave that money and supported this title that fulfilled and went far beyond in every aspect of my expectations.

    And I am certain I will NEVER preorder any single game after the experience with Ubisoft, EA...and those other companies.

    The game had a bad start on PC from Day 1. But I had issues not in the first week but only on second, after the patch. And then soon after everything worked flawless on the technical side.

    I came here immediately after ending credits and I can say that in whole playthrough of some 150 hours I encountered something that could be called a bug - not more than 5 times.

    ...and the game gives you thousands of encounters and details on every corner.

    Graphics out of this world and far beyond.

    Optimization after few pathces is great, but this is a hardware killer title that will shine the brightest in near future.

    Audio - great on 5,1 or headphones - so many different sounds playing at same time.

    Gameplay - most advanced gameplay mechanics to date, needs time to settle, but very intuitive.

    Controls - overwhelming at start but after a while feel natural and enjoyable in every aspect.

    Story - like 5 best Westerns you watched combined and multiplied by 10, truly the best part of an game that has best parts wherever you look. Unique experience. Thrilling.

    Buy it.

    Play it.

    Enjoy it.

    For example: I've just saved a local's life by rushing them to a doctor and witnessed a gruesome amputation - having said goodbye to the doctor, I leave his practice at night and step into the street.     For example: I've just saved a local's life by rushing them to a doctor and witnessed a gruesome amputation - having said goodbye to the doctor, I leave his practice at night and step into the street. On the doorstep is my horse, because I did everything to save this man's life and didn't take the time to park my horse and everyone apparently decided to leave it where I left it. So, I get on. The horse bumps its ass into a lady that's ignoring it. She is offended. I try to get off, but now a 'witness' is running off to report on my 'disturbing the peace', I try to walk after them to talk some sense, but there's police everywhere and they are no longer responding to me, with the witness talking to an officer, my status suddenly becomes investigated, then 'wanted' and then every cop in the street decides I need to be executed where I stand, everyone starts shooting. The end. I wake up on a remote street corner, minus some of my money and my pelts.

    Now, these kinds of ridiculous escalations are funny in a title like GTA, all of which is tongue in cheek and you're clearly there to have some zany fun and get the army out after you. But in RDR, I've had a dozen of these situations where the immersion is broken by typical over the top Rockstar game mechanics - often losing me some items or the sense that I achieved something and setting me back, leaving me feeling I was punished for merely playing the game.

    This, combined with glitchiness like teleporting distant horses, disappearing npcs and characters stuck in scenery, make it so I can't really award anything over a 6. Given the incredible amount of work which must have gone into this title, it's a damn shame they dropped the ball on playtesting and QA.    … Expand

    Haters, Haters Everywhere. Think in this: one dumb guy score this masterpiece in 0 only because he couldn't play this in his old Pc... 0 means the Game is less than garbage. I think that guy deserve the bad luck of couldn't play this wonderfull game. What i think? it's a masterpiece, a symphony, best gameplay, best story, best graphics, wonderfull music. The details, oh! the beautifullHaters, Haters Everywhere.     Pros: wonderful story, great voice acting, interesting characters, very nice graphics, stunning weather effects, "dead eye" is fun.
    Cons:
    Looting mechanics are tedious and inconvenient; super bad optimization: struggles to get past 30fps at 4k high settings, and 45 fps at 1440p. My set up is Nvidia 1080Ti, i7 8700k 6Core, 32GB RAM 2666mhz, Samsung EVO SSD, Win10Pro.

    9700K OC + RTX 2080 Ti OC + 32 GB RAM + 3500 read / 3000 write SSD in 1440p (2K) I cant get stable 60 FPS on Ultra to High settings. Using 144/165 Hz monitor so even 60 FPS is not OK.     Pre-ordered the game on PC from Rockstar to try and support them, and here I am 3 days after launch, still unable to play. My refund request hasn't been answered either (obviously Rockstar). Well done! The requested refunds should be released as the product isn't as advertised, simple as that.

    Game launched for me on release. But there are major game breaking main storyline bugs that halt progression on the main storyline.
    Then after 12 hours of progression on side missions while waiting for main story to be fixed, Rockstar updates the game and corrupts my save.
    I can move my save game files and it runs, from square one. Game crashes as soon as save game finishes loading.

The tedious, silly tasks no longer seem tedious. Everything seems to have purpose. It is, quite literally, the greatest video game ever created. From the amazing story to the insane graphics. I just get lost in the world. At this point, I can navigate with only a compass. I understand why so many gave up and thought it was boring. For those folks, if you have ANY interest in video games, give it another try. It has earned the top spot in my mind that was previously held by Final Fantasy VII since 1997. Worse still is the networking code. It is some of the buggiest pre-alpha code I have ever come across. Good luck getting it to work. My three friends and I all have problems constantly. About to finish a mission and reap rewards? Not any longer! You'll get dropped at the last second and get nothing for all your effort. Sometimes, you won't even get dropped, you'll just not get any rewards with no explanation. Lastly, there is no system built into the game to stop hackers. It is a cheaters paradise. Jerks constantly do stupid things that mess up your game (when the buggy networking code isn't, which is rare).

    I was so excited to see this game when it came out and so disappointed when it arrived. It has been out now for several months and there have been several patches, but it really hasn't improved. It is still a buggy mess that is plagued by constant cheating.    … Expand

    -On PC, on launch performance was garbage, now it's somewhat fixed;
    -Story in the first few acts is downright BORING
    -So god damn linear. You can't complete a mission/quest unless you do it EXACTLY how R* wants

    This game is only for experienced players in this state.
    My hardware have many years (3 - 6) and i play 60 - 90FPS only i spend 3h to find slow down options. Many options i have ultra/high game looking very nice.
    No go to max settings try find good quality and performance settings for you hardware or you loosing fun from this game.

Sure, you need to maintain your guns, care for your horse, change your clothes, you can call this realism and sure, it 'sort of' is. It's also functionally a soft lock on how much cash you can earn online. There are many things like this, harder locks would be animal spawn rates, job timers, etc... I shouldn't have to go on about the online. It's a horrible disaster and it has affected the singleplayer significantly. I am 100 percent sure the game was built with online in mind, after all, which is the bigger money maker for them?

    It's a shame, because there's the potential for a good game here, but it has a Nisshin Maru worth of factory ship build up around it to process money from whales. If you want to read about gold bars and thousands of bugs, you can find plenty of articles and posts about what's wrong with the online. That isn't my problem, just the overlap.

    There's a steely, red eyed terminator under the flesh of RDR2, built from the ground up to encourage you to spend actual money and even punish you for not. Even if you never go online, it's still present. Never forget that and you'll see the subtly of the machine everywhere.

    But I guess if you like grinding for crap, without much direction, in an open world game, then you might enjoy it. To me however it just feels hollow.

    *Pelts, once dry, realistically can last as long as the final product if stored properly. For example, in 'The Revenant' and the 2015 movie, the fur trappers/hunters stored their pelts, burying them, marking the location. They might not have returned for months and months, this would not decrease the value of the hides. In RDR2, pelts decay over a day, which is insane. This is contrived grind, a bottle neck. There's no meaningful way to mitigate it.    … Expand

    And the saves dont work properly.

    - Проблемы с запуском: чертов RSC иногда просто не дает войти в игру по причине различного рода ошибок, а иногда вообще говорит, что не запущен клиент Steam, с которого и была запущена игра.
    - Прогрузка в реальном времени: предметы время от времени появляются из ниоткуда, вроде лошадей, вывесок, а один раз и целого этажа здания! И это при том, что игра стоит на SSD...
    Также и после загрузки игры - сначала появляется голова Артура, а потом все остальное: тело, здания и т.п.
    - Из плюсов пока не могу выделить ничего, так как по причине кривого лаунчера не могу оценить игру в полной мере. Отыграл всего 2 с небольшим часа. Но единственное чувство, посещавшее меня за эти два часа - это скука. Серьёзно, мне не особо нравится сама концепция этой игры, но я искренне хотел дать ей шанс.

    И что же я(мы все) получил/-и? Как по мне - полнейшее разочарование.

    Rockstar должно быть стыдно выпускать ЭТО в таком состоянии!

    На 14.12.2019 то, от чего у меня полыхает больше всего:
    Rockstar выпускает игру в steam на месяц позже, чем в EGS, хапнув деньжат за эксклюзивность.
    Мало того, в steam выходит абсолютно кривая *****, в которую невозможно играть. Как в EGS, но только спустя месяц, ну не смешно ли?
    Мало? То ли еще будет: меньше чем через 10 дней Rockstar выпускает патч, который ломает игру и плюсом ко всему вешает на неё 20% скидку, скрывшись в закат с нашими кровными шекелями.
    Если бы была номинация "Анти Игра Года", то я знаю, кто взял бы гран-при.
    Накипело.

    Резюмируя:
    1. Не покупайте это, не повторяйте наших ошибок.
    2. RDR2 на ПК - очередное доказательство того, что критикам в 2019 верить не стоит.

    de configurações de gráficos para alterar, porem mesmo reduzindo alguns detalhes o desempenho ainda permanece ruim na casa dos 48 fps sendo o GTA V rodo com quase tudo no ultra em 4k 60fps. Agora olhei alguns reviews como esse da guru3d e notei que as RTX 2070 e 2070 super estão desempenhando melhor que as 10x séries que tem desempenhos semelhantes. Estranho isso não?    … Expand

    Everyone is talking about the launcher issues but it's the game when you get in that's the real problem!
    My PC is: Intel i5-6400 @ 2.70Ghz (Quad Core), Nvidia 1070 GTX 8 GB ver, 8 GB Ram, SanDisk SDSSDHII480G (Solid State Drive).
    The game on my PC is completely unplayable at every graphics setting! The game play stutters and completely freezes constantly for up to 30 seconds at a time!    Everyone is talking about the launcher issues but it's the game when you get in that's the real problem!
    My PC is: Intel i5-6400 @ 2.70Ghz (Quad Core), Nvidia 1070 GTX 8 GB ver, 8 GB Ram, SanDisk SDSSDHII480G (Solid State Drive).

    I really do not want to do this, but the game simply will not start. And rockstar acting like a rockstar is not helping. Blaming everyone but yourself for this complete **** This is my final port ever. This is also my final rockstar "game".

    Game doesn't work properly on PC, it has awful optimization and lots of technical problems. I just cannot believe that porting RDR2 on PC took almost a year with such result. I don't recommend buying it until they fix all the problems (this will take more than a couple of weeks I think).

    Core i79700k (OC 4.8 all cores), 32gb ddr4 pc3400,game on ssd, + 1080Ti (OC) (MSIi gaming trio 2024 mhz + 375 mhz ram). high-ultra 1440p: 50-68 FPS........Bad optimisation.

    Этот перенос на ПК, просто жесть. Имея систему с i7 9700k 2080super 32gb плюсь игра установлена на М2 с овер скоростью. И у меня было 40фпс на ультра, вы серьезно рукстур. Обосрались вы теперь точно конкретно!!!!!!

    I have an REALLY good pc, i run every game on 200+ fps. i was so happy when i bought this game..... BOOM its open fine, but its ass at runnig the game normal, like **** it freezes 24/7. u cant play the game right now.....

    Best in the industry verified this game is not compatible with most Intel processors. Likely will not be fixed and Rockstar will not acknowledge the processor issues publicly, almost a full week after launch.

    8. did the same quest like 4 times, due to crash during the quest then lost whole progress.
    9. lost legendary bear skin due to crash.

    one of the best games ever! The game is running fine in fhd with high-ultra settings (60-100fps with r5 2600, 16gb ram, 5700xt nitro+). Dx12 is randomly crash, but on vulkan i haven’t got any issues from the start date.

    An absorbing tale that will test your machine and tear ducts. A game that did not suffer from being brought to PC. RDR2 is worth overcoming all the shortcomings, since it is one of the best games of the decade. [Issue#300]

    My biggest warning to anyone considering purchasing RDR2 on PC is that you need to have patience when you set it up. Take the time to go through each graphics option, compare your performance on Vulkan vs. DirectX 12, and tailor the game to your specs. Once you have the game tuned, there’s no better way to experience it than on PC.
