Fort Solis presents a thrilling story with fantastic visuals, exceptional voice acting, and heart pounding suspense. What it may lack in mechanical gameplay is more than made up for by really feeling like you are playing a movie. Don't be surprised if you can't put it down and play straight through in a single four hour sitting. I will definitely be checking out Fallen Leaf Studios future projects and Fort Solis has even won me over to the Walking Simulator genre. Don't miss this one.

Its compelling narrative and sci-fi environment make Fort Solis a welcome addition to the portfolio of thrillers that have sent us into outer space, even if this particular journey punches a little below the best in terms of emotional payoff and scare factor.

Your impression of Fort Solis is going to depend on many factors, with the biggest one being how forgiving you are of its issues. The story seems fine until you break down motivations. The graphics look good until you start looking beyond the characters. The acting is good, but the gameplay isn't as tight as it should be due to some odd design decisions. It is a game that might be fine for fans of modern story-based adventure games, but don't expect it to be anywhere near the height achieved by some of the bigger titles in the genre.

As a Unreal Engine 5 showcase it's exquisite, as a sci-fi TV series (or a movie) it's not bad, but as a game it fails. If you're hoping to be scared, thrilled or immersed in a gripping story, reconsider your expectations.

Fort Solis is a beautiful, yet very boring game with a stellar cast and walking simulator-like gameplay.

As it stands, Fort Solis is an atmospheric experience with impressive graphics and a slow, but interesting central narrative. But as a game it falls short on many parameters, with low interactivity, shoddy quick time events and exploration that rarely feels rewarding. I can only imagine that the actual game parts were added mostly as an afterthought, and that's too bad, for what ultimately could have been pretty special just ends up being rather bland.

Fort Solis aims for big-budget horror but fails to deliver on all fronts. I don’t mind short games in the slightest, in fact, I welcome them, but Fort Solis felt like four hours of my life I will not get back. Unless you have money to throw away, you should probably give this one a miss.

Graphics, atmosphere, sounds, music, acting, story, Roger Clark's action is cool. The only thing why this game is different from most others is gameplay. You mostly walk, open doors, find stuff and so on. But it is very atmospheric, realistic and creates that Alien space station feeling. They should make more games like this, in such setting. I think this game is special. Expand

From the very beginning, I wanted to see what would happen next. This means that the story is really well written. Taking you on a journey on Mars, the plot sets you to investigate an alarm on Fort Solis. Exploring the space station on the Red Planet makes you feel like a detective, but the perspective is very different than usual. The events of this game happen in the future. Earth is an “old” planet for the Marsian people, so the dialogue potential is extremely rich. And it’s not wasted at all – the jokes, video and audio recordings, and historical background make you feel that life on Mars exists. The graphics, music, sounds, and voice acting do their job perfectly. The movement is slow – that’s true. Also, the game lacks some typical game mechanics and combat. But the whole game overshadows this with a very original setup that gives you an unforgettable experience. Expand

I was waiting for a good narrative game for so long, I played to this one with expectations, but not so much. As I already read some badI was waiting for a good narrative game for so long, I played to this one with expectations, but not so much. As I already read some bad reviews about it, I was ready to just play an OK game. Well, even so, this game is a deception.

First of all, it's a narrative game, so the quality of the writing is very important. Alas, the protagonist is very unpleasant to play. Even in an obviously critical situation (a lockdown has been declared, there's blood on the ground...) he'll say stupidities to his colleague, sit down to joke about drinking beer, etc. It's not believable, as he's supposed to be, I guess, a chief engineer.

The dialogues are literal and lack subtlety. The characters comment everything that happens with not-so-witty remarks. There are some really stupid puzzles, and the fact that we have to walk very slowly makes the exploration so tedious...

I'm on my way to finish the game, so I might edit this review when it's done, but still. I wish the designers had made more judicious choices...

This "game" gets a 2/10 because the voice acting is phenomenal.

The missing 8/10 points is for: - releasing a cinematic game in 2023
This "game" gets a 2/10 because the voice acting is phenomenal.

The missing 8/10 points is for:
    - releasing a cinematic game in 2023 without native ultrawide support
    - no run button/key for moments where the character is clearly wanting to run
    - no player agency
    - riding off the hype of unreal engine 5
    - charging more than $10 for this lazy unfinished unpolished walking (literally) simulator

Yes, the game looks nice but that has nothing to do with the developers and everything to do with Epic Games and the community of content creators for said game engine.
