This game is a dead carcass of Fallout 4, a lifeless, Soulless piece of crap, Do no waste your money, If you want Fallout then this game isn't Fallout, If you want a survival game then go play Rust, Which is a million time better than this abomination, Also cheaper.

    They killed Fallout. Twice.

Fallout 4 was a joke and I don't even want to mention this low-quality Fallout-themed Rust clone. I will just pretend that it doesn't exist. Bethesda should've left it to Obsidian, those guys clearly knew what to do with the franchise, but it's too late now since Obsidian was bought by Microsoft. If Bethesda won't stop making games on this dead engine that's the same since oblivion, these games will be crappy as fallout 76. I hope the new TES will have a new engine, but this fallout is not a fallout anymore.

Fallout with no story, no npcs, and little to nothing to do. It's a giant sandbox with Fallout 4's UI. Waste of money and time.

Honestly, the game looks bad you almost never see people unless in the church area and the game is just not fun after the first 5 hours but I will give Bethesda credit if fallout happened in real life the world would look bad and not be fun at all and everyone would never explore outside of the first base we make.

The true darkness is on the other side. Take a look on several random profiles that gave "10" to this game. Almost like 90% of them have only 1 review (for FO76) and profile names like "superplayer1984". In their reviews, there're writing everything via one of two copypastas: 1) describing all the game features were named by bethesda in trailers (some of which simply even don't exist) and literally telling everything is working perfectly. 2) callin everyone who left a bad review a hater who never played the game.

The second part is as you all know, Bethesda initially released game only on Beth.net - not on Steam, GOG etc. Why? Yes, eaxactly. You can't leave a review there. At least, so easily. Question is - what is it like?

Yes, we all know (especially those who are reading political news) how it looks. Bethesda (I'm not saying directly Pete Hines, obviously not, but through the hands of sub-companies, "family" bloggers and "friendly" game journalists) is litereally using the bots to leave positive reviews and leaving 10 points to at least somehow save catastrophic ratings of the game. Almost all accounts that made 10/10 FO76 reviews were made not by real players behind them, but by certain people, for only one goal - try to save the game ratings on the platform they can't affect directly.

Don't get me wrong. Bethesda was and today still [IS] my favourite game company. But the abyss they are making between themselves and community, how they allow marketing stuff to rule the PR company and game development itself, and how obviously they are trying to hide any possible negative critics about the game - it's really, really sad.

I'm neither FO 76 fan or hater. I just don't care about it - I won't play it and wait for Starfield and TES VI.
Though, I played more than 20 hours on my friend gaming PC to not let myself make a prejudged review.
I also wish every player who bought it to have the best possible time in it.
Fallout 76 is not a "zero" game. But it's a very, very bad game. Extremely outdated engine. Terrible performance. Awful cheating/hacking protection. But what if most important, it's a soulless game which has even less to have at least something in commong with FO series than FO4 had. It's empty, repeative and just boring.
I won't give "0" to this game. But I'll give as maximum as "3" because this is what FO76 deserves.

    3) PVP - anti ganking is a beautiful thing, the pvp was designed for late game squad or faction pvp. People just don't understand the PvP mechanics.
    4) Character Development - Best game in the world for character builds. Non-Class specific builds calls for unlimited diversity in both solo play and in squad play with perk sharing. Align your build with specific weapon and armor mods to fit your play style for even improved functionality.
    5) Bugs - Nothing game breaking. A few glitches here and there that will most likely be fixed in a few months.
    6) Frame Drops - Bethesda acknowledges the problems with the frame rate and is working around the clock to fix them. To be honest the 50-60 fps is completely playable as a pve game. Once everyone gets to 50 we will need better frame rates for pvp, I'm confident the fix will be in place at this time.
    7) Micro transactions - Cosmetic transactions? This is not even worth mentioning. Yes let them make some one from some cool skins. Nothing game breaking from a P2W perspective.

Conclusion: The game makes for a very complex and strategic end game Battle Area. Currently, no other game provides a game that is not class specific and have as much character and team item and skill development then this game. You heard it from me first but this game is 2019 game of the year.

The game is also very prone to hacking. Mods won't come unitl next year, but people can modify the. ini files of the game just like FO4, and alolws them to change stuff like lockpicking being easier and god knows what they might come up with next. A quick look at the game's anti cheat system reveals it's just a joke: https://imgur.com/eIOcWOA
Even while there's definitely a lot to explore, the fact that the game feels empty makes discovering stuff barely exciting, and reading or hearing stuff is just tedious as it makes just want to finish already, after all the mission objective updates itself. You no longer discover stuff that can affect the people around you, all because they are already dead, and all you have to do is launching nukes and boom, that's all.
If you honestly want an online game where exploring is better, you can play minecraft instead. I know it might sound as a joke but the game is actually fun, and has a great replayability.

If that's the type of gamer you are than go ahead & listen to the "0" reviews who have never played this game, have no intention of playing this game, & have never genuinely reviewed a game in their life & move along.

For everyone else that isn't a fake POS "reviewer" who is genuinely interested in the game, maybe Fallout 76 can be for you.

Some users were asking if Fallout 76 was like an MMA. To answer that question, it's like an MMO in the sense that you seek out crafting materials, craft items, base build, share the experience with friends & other gamers & can trade items with people.

There's PvP with other players on the map that you will be exploring. You can turn on passive mode which will allow you to explore in relative peace without being bother by another player if you choose to do so.

Fallout 76's story is being told via recordings, notes/letters, clues, etc. Now, that's not to say there isn't a story within this game, there's plenty to discover and learn about in Appalachia. But this isn't a traditional Fallout title. This is more character & base building focus with multiplayer involved (questing together, trading and pvp on occasion).

All that being said, even outside of multiplayer, I'm still looking forward to solo play since I don't have friends that are picking this up. & I'm fine with a game I can kind of veg out to in the Fallout universe and do random quests and just building a character while potentially meeting a new gaming buddy along the way.

This is very much a create your own adventure game in some aspects. You can ignore those aspects and just do the missions though if you want. And get all the story aspect out of the game. Just don't go into this thinking the story will be as strong as a Fallout 3, New Vegas or 4 where it was solo story linear heavy with great side quests if you choose. This will still have quests to do but they will be all about adding to the lore of the Fallout Universe & the rewards for doing the quests will be in the form that will help grow your character within the game & give you materials to help build a gun or a base or armor.

This is a game I can see being added onto for years & growing it over time. & getting in on day one will be worth the journey if you are open minded about a different style Fallout game.

I spent most my time in FO4 building settlements and in 76 i get to share it with my friends!

There is a story, but its not handed in a medium you're used to (NPCs). You discover the story through holotapes, terminals, notes that people before you have left and it really gives a sense a post apocalyptic to the game. It's a new type of storytelling for sure.

You have to think, react and plan a bit to survive. The hunger, thirst, and radiation system keeps you on your toes and keeps you considering your actions beyond running and shooting. I have experienced no bugs involving crashing or anything game breaking at all. I prefer to spend my time with strong gameplay systems like these over heavy narrative "interactive cinema" games that have permeated the market (and yes I really do believe they are well-crafted systems!) People are so spoiled and entitled to get so aggressive about a game, saying ridiculous things like "its the worst game ever made" "most deserving game of 0 score" - maybe they are just spoiled, entitled, or childish maybe? Let's get one thing out of the way. This is not Fallout 5, nor does it try to be. Instead, Fallout 76 is a game of preferences. If,Let's get one thing out of the way. This is not Fallout 5, nor does it try to be. Instead, Fallout 76 is a game of preferences. If what you want is a full RPG experience with populated towns, morality systems, and a whole lot of talking, then this isn't the game for you. 76 does away with those things to instead focus on the building, crafting, fighting, and exploring of Fallout 4. If, like me, you feel that story and characters get in the way of all the fun stuff, then this may be your perfect title because, oh boy, is there a lot of fun stuff.

The combat is the meat of the game, so let's talk about it first. The shooting and fighting in Fallout 4 was decent. 76 improves upon it in every way. Guns feel snappier and more accurate. Increased recoil gives them a great percussive feel, which is further accentuated by higher damage numbers. The days of putting a whole mag into an invincible ghoul are over. Gunplay is fast and tactical.

One significant change to the formula is movement speed. Everyone moves faster, from the player characters, to the super mutants, to the mole rats. It doesn't feel like you're the Flash or anything, but the movement has been significantly upgraded. This can be a blessing, as well as a curse. Faster movement speed means it's easier to run into a corner and get stuck while a horde of mutant dogs nibble on your privates. Situational awareness is essential, now more than ever.

The last notable change to combat is in encounter design. To facilitate the multiplayer aspect, the size of each encounter has been increased. Expect to fight 5+ enemies at any given time. Feral ghouls come at you in massive gangs of a dozen or more. The new Scorched enemies use melee and flanking gunmen to overwhelm you. Creatures are unpredictable and aggressive. The sheer number of enemies in the world makes for a challenging struggle to survive.

And it's a big world. Fallout 76 is the largest map for any Bethesda Fallout by a wide margin. It is separated into a few different regions, each with distinct topography. From chemical bleached barrens, to irradiated rivers, to a lush forest seemingly untouched by all the chaos, there's always something new to see.

Building and crafting are pretty much the same as before. You get perk cards to unlock new things as well as level up your character. Unlocked items can be crafted at the appropriate bench. Building at your portable C.A.M.P has been improved, but not much. Things snap together better, but it can still be a pain to make them do so. construction is competent, but is probably the weakest part of the game.

Now on to what everyone has been worried about, multiplayer. I'm happy to report there's little in the way of griefing, because there really isn't any reason to do so. You don't lose anything other than junk when you die, your personal stash can't be raided, and killing other players only puts a bounty over your head. Being a bad guy has no positive effects, which is honestly the best deterrent to griefing.

The game truly comes alive with other players around, be they friends or just randoms. I remember a time when I was fighting a group of super mutants and getting my posterior perforated, when a chorus of gunfire rang out from the west. A duo of players had heard the commotion, come to check it out, and lent a helping hand. After the fight, we met up in the center. There was no talking. They gave me a few stimpacks and a little ammo for my hunting rifle, then went on their way. Unless you have a gaggle of friends to run around with, these are the kinds of interactions you can expect, little spurts of cooperation that make for impressively memorable moments. Maybe that will change in the future, but for now, I can count the number of negative exchanges I've had on one hand.

So, where does that leave us? I'll admit the game does feel empty at times, but it's supposed to. This is the wild west. It's untamed, and unexplored. Taming and exploring is your job, and you do it with a gun and a Pip-boy. The sheer size and density of the map ensures there will be plenty of those two things to go around. If you're looking for a distilled adventure, with little to interrupt the action, then Fallout 76 is the right game for you.

The performance is laughable for a multi-billion dollar company who has funds to spare. The graphics are years behind, and they continue to insist on the use of their now ancient engine. The game is riddled with bugs and Bethesda should no longer get a free pass for this. It reaches a point where it ceases to be funny, and starts to become grating.

If you're a fan of games with depth, substance, good writing and characterizations, then do yourself a favor and steer way clear of this, it's not the Fallout you love. but instead an abomination made by devs and publishers who don't give a **** about anything more than bogging their pockets down with as much of your money as they can at the expense of everything else.

Bethesda should try to update their engine before releasing to online world. Terrible frame rate, big world of nothing. Exploring the world for sound tapes and not even having players be the surprise you see. Cause you can see them on the map. This game is so bad, i feel like bethesda devs never actually played online games of this style.

A Sandbox like MMO of Fallout 76 that sets out for what it wants to do. It has some issues such as FoV but still is a lot of fun. Most of the negative reviews are simply because people wanted another single player Fallout and are afraid of change.

And the complaints about it not being an RPG, well that's on the players. If you want to role play as a trader, raider, hero, etc. there's nothing stopping you.
It's really sad to see this trend of hating because it's the thing to do. It seems like most gamers think developers should be punished for trying something different. And if that thing isn't perfect from the moment it is released then it must be complete crap.
    My review-
This is a Bethesda game. Bethesda games have bugs. Most of the bugs eventually get fixed. The world is massive and, in the early areas, a little empty. As you progress through the game you'll find the areas more and more congested with enemies. It is a beautiful world, though it doesn't quite feel like it was destroyed in the war as much as feels like the area was just abandoned. The enemies are fun and a little challenging early on. The potential for role play is endless.

Don't see this as a followup game from the series, but as a survival multiplayer spinoff. The graphics are okay, the basebuilding and gunplay are fun and I like the perkcardsystem. It makes your character very diverse, you can switch if you play solo/with friends. The PvP system is interesting and it is a good touch that you activate it, if you actually both engage each other.

I see that people are complaining about microtransactions. Note that those are only cosmetics, so you don't have to buy them if you don't want to. There are also plenty of cosmetic items in the game.

The only downsides are that the story is a bit shallow and there are plenty of bugs around. I hope that Bethesda will fix a lot of them.

I think most people came to this game thinking that it was going to be like another fallout RPG that theyre used to but its not. Bottom of the line its a survival game, even if it isnt marketed as one, it is. The game is a large sandbox and there isn't really any direct path in which you take, like many other survival games you just survive. But with 76 theres somewhat of a storyline and various quests and events in the world to brighten and keep it lively.

With survival games, its not the game that will give you the experience you want, its the interaction with other players. If you have no friends it will probably not be the game for you and you more than likely will dislike it. But if you got a group you can build with, fight enemies and players with, and explore with. The game is great.

Overall there is a few bugs ive encountered, and if zoom in on far objects they're pretty low res. I dislike the FoV and the FPS cap and wish it was on a newer engine.

As a fan of Fallout and Bethesda's open-world games in general, I had hoped at the very least that the environmental storytelling and exploration that the game hadn't been stripped of would at the very least make it worth buying and playing.

Unfortunately, I only got a couple hours into the game before giving up. The motivation to explore the world compared to the past Fallout games just isn't there. Without human NPCs to talk to, the game felt very incomplete and empty. The side quests are by far the weakest point of the game, which consist of asking you to go to location X and finding a holotape, or killing X amount of enemies. This is the kind of quest structure you expect from an MMO.

The whole time I was playing the game, I just wondered why I shouldn't just replay Fallout 4 instead? The gunplay and graphics would be the same, but it would have everything else that 76 was stripped of.

This is a great game for people who come from MMOs and are used to the type of repetitive content those games have (albeit SWTOR is the exception) or people who only care about gameplay.

I'd give it a 6/10. If it didn't have the exploration and environmental storytelling that these games are known for, it'd get much worse. What a pity. The setting would have made a good traditional Fallout game.

You will read many reviews that compare this to games that promised big and never delivered. Bethesda delivered what they promised, but what they promised was not what a vocal few had been vying for.

Others will try to discredit positive reviews. This has become the norm for games lately - negative review bombing, and they *seem* legit. This game is exactly what it set out to be.

This game is exactly what it set out to be. Disagree with the multiplayer or the non-human NPCs only all you like, it's exactly what the series needed. It's a vibrant world that is definitely not dead, and it's made all the more sinister by the threat of others.

I was actually excited for a multiplayer Fallout game, but this game is just boring. People can't attack you unless you want them to. The enemies are extremely easy to defeat and mostly they just stand in place and shoot, doing little damage. There is a VERY thin story that really is only there to get you to walk around. The events are "keep spawning bad guys until timer runs out."I was actually excited for a multiplayer Fallout game, but this game is just boring. People can't attack you unless you want them to. The events are "keep spawning bad guys until timer runs out." Your base is meaningless because people can't steal your stuff anyways. So what are you supposed to do in this game? I'm level 10 now and I honestly don't know. You can complete "go press a button on a computer terminal" and/or "kill enemies until the timer runs out" quests to gain experience then haul stuff back to your stash. That's basically it. With almost no plot, no NPCs, no penalty for dying, such a low difficulty to play, very little extremely casual PVP... I really don't see why anyone would put more than a few hours into this game. The point of the game really seems to be to explore the map and look at the pretty scenery. With no real in-game motivation to keep progressing, it almost feels like you would be better off running through all the areas without fighting anything so that you can see all the sights without having to waste time leveling up. I'm willing to give it a 3 for now, maybe it's just the beginning content that is bland but I really see no hope for this game getting better as I rank up. Expand

Immediately after starting, everything just feels off. Graphically, it runs on the exact same engine as Fallout 4, character creation is identical to what it was 3 years ago down to the same hairstyles and facial hair.

A large part of what made Fallout interesting is absent in 76, that is the ability to loot damn-near every container around you. You start in a vault surrounded by desks and lockers but you're unable to search them, whereas in the previous games you were able to pull all kinds of junk out of them if you so desired. It's a minor point, but it goes a long way in making the world feel even more barren and empty than it already does. Once you get out in the world you can search containers, but only some of them, as opposed to the other games where you can root around in anything that is physically capable of holding something.

On the topic of loot, it is the only thing that makes this game even worth glancing at, and even then it doesn't excuse the lack of content and the $60 price tag even less so. In my experience, shortly after leaving the vault, I came across a house surrounded by Scorched (the new placeholder enemy. They look like ghouls and attack like raiders, while being less interesting than both). I fought them off with relative ease, taking very little damage despite getting completely wailed on by several enemies, and proceeded to loot no less than 3 pipe revolvers and 3 hunting rifles off the same corpse. At least in the other games the loot you gathered kind of made sense. If a raider was shooting you with a hunting rifle, upon killing him, you could pick up that rifle most of the time, not 3 copies of a gun you didn't see him use once. This is all to say the loot in 76 is very limp and, for lack of a better way to put it, not worth looting. This is to say nothing of the level requirements needed to use the stronger weapons, which, in Fallout, is nothing short of sinful.

The biggest issue, I think, with Fallout 76 is the lack of something very critical to the other games: NPCs. Bethesda's aim with 76 was to make player interactions happen with other players and not NPCs, but the problem then arises that they're unable to make complex storylines and quests because of this. Every quest in 76 boils down to "run to the waypoint, do this/kill this/get this" and you're done. Rinse and repeat until you get bored.
The NPCs make the world come alive, and their absence is what makes 76 feel so damn dead.

The building is also cumbersome and a general pain in the ass. The player doesn't really have much of a goal to work towards past "kill this thing, loot it, stare longingly at the shiny new gun you can't use yet." The leveling is also excruciatingly castrated, now opting to use a card system of all things, because people like cards I suppose?? Any perks you do apply to your character feel as limp and worthless as everything else in the game.

The only reason I gave this game a 1 and not a 0 is because functionally, it works. You walk. You run. You jump. You shoot things. But for a game in a series as big and successful as Fallout to simply "just work" is a massive step down. It feels like a skeleton framework for something that was originally going to be much better with much more content, and without the heavy emphasis on multiplayer, maybe we could have gotten something like that, but now we'll never know.

Ultimately, if you get anything out of my review, let it be this: Don't buy this game. Bethesda has no business charging $60 (and upwards of $200 for the power armor edition) for what equates to a **** Fallout 4 mod. I feel obscenely ripped off and have already contacted Bethesda to request a refund, but I'm not holding my breath.

I suppose it is barely possible that, with another year in development this could have been worth something. Maybe a year of support from now it could be, but

The game is very pretty. There is a lot more color, especially in the foliage, than FO4, and it makes for a nice change of pace. I do think that the lack of human NPC's has been a bit jarring, and does take a little getting used to, but honestly it hasn't hurt my enjoyment of the quests at all. I also appreciate the variety of weapons and armors. Thanks to the devs for not just porting the stuff from the last game and calling it a day. I do wish I could remove the mod from one weapon and attach it to another ala FO4, but that's a minor thing, I think.

While I haven't run into a lot of other players (I tend to avoid them when possible), when I have done so it's been a good experience. The few griefers attempting to engage me in PVP were easy to avoid or train mobs into. I think Bethesda made an interesting, and in my experience, good choice with how they are dealing with PVP. Making it Factional in a future update seems a good step too.

I would say that the amount of reading you have to do lore wise at terminals is frustrating at times. Usually I'll think I have cleared a building and get attacked by a mob I'd missed. So frustration, but seems better in that the game doesn't pause (can't really) while I'm reading, hacking, or lockpicking. I think it bodes well for Party Raids, though I've not gotten that far yet, and don't anticipate doing so for a while. I can see in my mind some friends protecting one person hacking a terminal this way, and I like the idea.

Some of the more noticeable glitches to me seem to revolve around animations. Sometimes NPC's, Scorched or Ferals particularly, render on screen standing in a T pose until I get close enough to trigger them, then instantly fall flat to the ground and get up to attack. Other times I'll miss a super mutant at point blank range. I'm fairly confident my aim isn't that bad, though I suppose I could be wrong.

Storage of junk is an issue for me as well. I don't mind the personal stash limit, but I wish I could build and use non-secure containers as well. I tend to leave my camp open and unlocked so others can use the benches there. I wouldn't mind leaving mats out for others to take (food and water and meds too). I'm interested to see how I'll feel after utilizing one of the Workbench settlements, though I suspect until there are independent servers, and hopefully server set persistence, I won't be pleased. My sincere hope is that on a server I rent and pay for there will be persistence, even if tied to a faction scheme, and we can build out actual communities with shared resources. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

All in all, though I think there is some polishing to be done, I am having a lot of fun with '76. The thing I love over all else is that unlike DayZ, Rust, etc, the questing gives you a reason to be out hunting and gathering and exploring beyond "Get gear, shoot players, get more gear", which I think most other survival style games are sorely lacking.

It looks the same as Fallout 4 but its as empty as a desert. The only "fun" there is is to either search for someone to kill or wait to get killed. For that kind of fun though it is MUCH better to buy Hunt Showdown for example or anything similar. This is just a sad milking cow of Bethesdas own making. I've put in about 15 hours now, and I can safely say that this game is fun. It feels like Fallout, but is not the same experience. Why on earth you would expect the exact same experience from a multiplayer game is beyond me. The people I met have been great as well, the multiplayer blends really nicely into the single-player feel. Nobody's rushing to claim the best drops or grind to the highest levels just to be better than everyone else. The game plays at a comfortable pace just like a single-player game, except now you can enjoy it with friends if you want.

The game performance is good, considering I'm running on a GTX 750Ti. VATS feels good, albeit very different, and does wonders for those who can't achieve a fluid experience due to lower end PCs. The only issues I ran into were a couple minor disconnects, which I'm sure can be blamed on launch day overload. I can't speak for the graphics, but given my setup, it looks nice enough not to hinder my experience.

I actually really like the lack of human NPCs. With all the quests being through holotapes and robots, I can focus on what I actually enjoy, shooting and exploring, without missing out on the stories.

The base-building is way more enjoyable than Fallout 4 for me because it not only feels more valuable, but I get to share what I build with my friends. I played all the way through Fallout 4 without bothering with the settlement system (for the most part) because it felt like it didn't quite fit with the game. Bases in Fallout 76 fit well and feel important.

There is so much to do, and I feel like I haven't even scratched the surface after 15 hours. Whoever says this game doesn't have content is lying through their teeth. The map is huge and packed with quests and interesting locations. Regular event quests encourage interaction with other players and keep things fresh even in locations you've already combed over.

At no point have I felt pressured to make any micro-transactions. I'm earning the premium currency at a decent rate as well, and expect to be able to buy whichever thing I want from the shop by the end of the week. It feels extra, like it should. Not like they took something essential out of the game just to make a shop.

If you liked the gameplay of Fallout 4 and would enjoy that experience with friends, you'll also enjoy this game. It's not perfect, but don't let the emotional "It's not New Vegas/Rust" reviews ruin the opportunity you have to enjoy a unique and well-made game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Gonna preface my review by saying there is a genuine hate campaign going on against this game that is in no way justified. While the game has flaws a plenty, there's nothing massively out of the ordinary for Bethesda games (or in some cases, many other games.) A lot of these reviews come from people who have VERY CLEARLY not played the game. A lot of criticisms are based off of straight up lies and fake news.
Additionally, this is NOT a "main series" Fallout title. This is not a singleplayer RPG but instead an open world multiplayer loot'n'shoot survival game. This is a spinoff game. This is a game that is a similar genre to Fallout 4, but not the SAME genre.
So keeping this in mind, I'm going to review the game under the following criteria: Open World, Multiplayer, Loot'n'shoot, Survival, and "Game".

    Open World:
One thing Bethesda does that no other studio seems to be quite as capable of is making a genuinely OPEN world filled to the brim with details and exploration. There's junk and clutter around every turn that manages to breathe life in to an otherwise dead world. There's always something on the horizon, and there will be content you simply wont see even after hundreds of hours of gametime. The mantra of go anywhere, do anything definitely shines through in this aspect.
The story is also told through the open world, each significant area seems to have a piece of lore attached to it that can be learned through recordings, notes, and diaries on computer terminals. Reading through these pieces of information not only lets you experience the story, but also gives you gameplay hints and clues that can help you discover any secrets in the surrounding area.

The game has a main story, but it takes something of a backseat this time around. A lot of people are critical of that, and I can understand why. However, I don't find that it impacts me much to begin with. The main story provided by Fallout 3/4 are incredibly shallow, and can be completed very quickly by just bee-lining it towards the next quest marker.

The lack of NPCs and NPC dialog is a bit eh.

    Multiplayer:
As far as the multiplayer aspect of the game goes, it works quite well. I'm able to get in to a game no problem, and it runs very smoothly. I'm able to play with my friends from around the world with almost no noticable lag. The core game works well too, I enjoyed exploring and fighting alongside my friends, and building camps was definitely rewarding.

The PvP is a bit dumb however. Easily exploitable. There is a purpose for PvP however. Random fighting in the wasteland is meaningless, where the real PvP comes in to play is over controlling territory in the form of Workshops. Owning a Workshop allows you to harvest valuable materials for your benefit, but someone can come along and try to claim that workshop for themselves. Unfortuantely, there's nothing stopping them from constantly retrying, meaning that if they have the patience, they can force you to keep defending your property.

Also always on microphones and no text chat... the fact that they thought that was a good idea is a massive yikes from me. Very bad decision, clearly they're out of touch with games.

    Loot'n'shoot:
A system that basically defines Bethesda's Fallout now. There have been a lot of positive changes to this system. Crafting is much more in depth, breaking down materials and weapons is meaningful, weapon degredation is back and works well with the system they made in Fallout 4...

The killer, however, is the god damn piece of crap STASH. Why is there a 400lb limit? Even being careful with how you sort your loot, it just ruins the game entirely since you eventually come to a wall where you have to make room in your STASH or don't pick up any more items. This completely breaks the game loop.

    Survival:
It's basically the survival mode from Fallout 4 except toned down a bit to be less of an annoyance. Keeping yourself unfed isn't a series of increasing debuffs, but a singular large debuff that gets applied when you drop to 25% of your hunger/thirst bars. Keeping them above 75% provides buffs as an incentive to maintain them. Additionally, there's even more benefits to preparing your own food over eating random junk food you find on your journeys.

Diseases are back, and so long as you aren't getting bitten by rabbid animals or rolling around in dirt, you'll stay healthy. Makes sense to me, so it's a cool touch.

    Game:
Simply put, the Gamebryo engine just CHUGS in this game. It's at the end of its lifespan. The game runs horrendously by default, and you have to do some SERIOUS gutting to make it playable. It doesn't look bad, but for how it runs it should be looking better.

FOV isn't locked contrary to popular belief, but an FOV slider would have been nice. The 63 FPS cap is a dumb compromise.

    Ran out of characters.

Fallout 76 is fundamentally flawed and is certainly not worth the £40-£50 asking price at launch. Even spending £30 on it makes me want to wince a little. The game is a schizophrenic jumble of poor design choices and a re-jigging of a game engine which ill-fits the tasks being asked of it.

    What do I mean?

Take the size of the map for instance. Four times bigger should make a Fall Out fan squee with glee, and I did...to start with. All that extra land to traverse and find easter-eggs in? That sounded like heaven. And in places it is. Until that is you discover the fast travel costs caps...

...which would be fine if caps were readily available.
...which they're not because then it would impact on the survival aspect.
...because of the thirst and hunger bars needing to have some gameplay impact to warrant their inclusion.
...and you'd be able to buy the over-priced gear in the shops too easily.

And a lack of caps would be fine if:

...four times the map size means you can spend five-ten minutes just trouncing around, and sometimes longer just to get to the next quest point.
...which would be fine if you didn't keep running into random encounters, slowing you down further.
...in larger groups than other Fallout games, because of y'know...multi-player?
...and ridiculously short respawn timers, because of y'know...multi-player?
...and that means cutting into your hunger and thirst bars.
...which in turn means an excessively large amount of busy bodywork just to get from point A to point B.

I wish this was the exception to the rule, but this game design *is* the rule. Which is a real shame, because occasionally a side quest or a holo-tape recording is intriguing enough to lift it out of the put of mediocrity. Heck, going into flaming caves as a Fire Breather is actually visually stunning in places, but there's just never enough of it to justify the game overall.

to this game, and even outside our little clique, we found so many other players and people who love this game as much as us. This game has provided so much fun during the beta, and with today it's first day release, I will back it up.

People claim 76 is a lazy copy, I disagree, there is multiple new and brought back elements from the old franchise, quests are a little bizarre but what do you expect, you get immersed into the story not from skipping dialog with a character, but instead through interaction and attraction of wonders and locations... The issue is, the vocal minority is here, down voting these games so they can get their rocks off about how good they are reviewing such a horrible game, but, issue is, they didn't play it, and they don't want to spend time to.

Overall, the game has paved lots of fun with me and my friends, and this game deserves more positive light.
