    I don't think I need to justify this reveiw with my experience , just watch one of the many hour long documentaries following the fall of Bethesda and you will know exactly why this game is a terrible fail of a cash grab that milks the fan base and treats them like money cattle rather than consumers. If you value your time or money STAY AWAY FROM THIS GAME

    I've been looking at trying this game ever since it got added to Steam but only recently decided to give it a chance due to such mixed opinions on the game.

    I wouldn't recommend the game as it is right now, or ever to most people. It's a glorified fetch quest game with nothing ever interesting, annoying survival meters and too small inventory / stash size. I encountered some bugs    I've been looking at trying this game ever since it got added to Steam but only recently decided to give it a chance due to such mixed opinions on the game.

    I wouldn't recommend the game as it is right now, or ever to most people.
    It's a glorified fetch quest game with nothing ever interesting, annoying survival meters and too small inventory / stash size.
    I encountered some bugs (although not as bad as I thought it would be or used to be), the first being my UI was invisible, my fps was capped at 72 and my controls never saved, all of those I managed to fix with some .ini edits.
    The other bug I had was I lost everything I placed in my base half the time when I close the game which sort of killed any motivation to keep playing.

    If you don't mind fetch quests I would maybe say try it on sale. Never full price.    … Expand

    Boring, broken, made by a **** company past its' heyday, staff crunching, lies, false advertising, broken promises, in-game store with overpriced goods... should I go on? This game is a sanity killer and needs to be thrown into the depths of obscurity. At least No Mans' Sky fixed their game and improved it.

    I think they deserve better score. The game was not playable at the beginning but they changed a lot of things since then and now its actually cool to play with friends. :)

    The game isn't absolute trash, but it is all about collecting trash. Sadly collecting stuff isn't possible in this game since you will reach the stash limit within the first few hours of the game and you will struggle with the carry weight limit for the rest of the game.
    Found the best legendary rocket launcher in the game? Too bad that you can't possibly carry it    Remove the stash limit!

    This game is by far the biggest trash of 2018. This game supposed to be a grinder where you farm items but the stash in the game is a joke. It is full in about 2 hours. If you want an unlimited stash for trash items then you have to pay a monthly fee. This game is a pure scam.

    Fallout 76 is a massively multiplayer online game that encourages player cooperation, and paying money in the Atomic Shop (in game purchasing tool to help you speed up your progress or just generally be better at the game.) The game feels very grindy, and by that I mean it will take you a long time to get good gear and loot in the game. A very long time. Unfortunately, the gameplay isn't really fun or polished enough to make all that time grinding worth your while. This feels like it's purposeful, due to how often the game encourages you to spend more cash at the Atomic Shop to acquire resources and gear. Let me remind you that this game's launch date retail price was $59.99. The 'pay to win' feature of Fallout 76 is very annoying, ham fisted, and feels almost like begging. I'm often embarrassed by how much energy the publisher of the game put into begging people for more money.

    The story of Fallout 76 is boring, erratic, and not very engaging. The add-ons to the game improved this issue, but didn't make the story good. I wont even explain the story to point out how bad it is piece by piece. That's how boring it is. I'm too bored by it to criticize it fully. Trust me when I say you're not missing out on a lot of interesting and gripping franchise lore.

    The gameplay of Fallout 76 is buggy to this day, and pretty boring as far as 'looter shooters' go. There's not a ton of variety in how you dispatch enemies, and the more fun you want to have in the game, the more boring hours you'll have to invest in grinding for fun gear and loot, or the more money you'll have to spend on fun gear and loot. What's the grind like? Ammo is hard to come by, and when you find it, it's not much. You can buy ammo though! Fusion cores, which fuel the game's iconic power armor, burn out quickly and are hard to find. You can buy more though! Legendary enemies spawn very infrequently, and when they do, there's no guarantee that they'll drop really good loot. The loot thing might be a bug though, I'm not 100% sure. Then again, what's a bug and what's a feature is hard to discern in Fallout 76. Overall, gameplay feels rather dumbed down, and not as fun as Fallout 4. the polish is lacking, the fun is lacking, the engagement is lacking, my interest is lacking.

    Graphically, the game looks fine, when it's running well. The game doesn't always perform very well graphically, so it can be hard to judge whether or not some textures look horrible, or whether they just never loaded into the game correctly. It's not mind blowing by any stretch, and is outclassed by many games made for inferior hardware.

    The music of Fallout 76 is... meh. Repetitive, recycled, and not very noteworthy. It didn't have to be great or anything, but it's definitely not contributing anything meaningful to the game. Best part was the Country Roads cover.

    Overall, Fallout 76 is an annoying game in more ways than one. It's a slog to get through without indulging in microtransactions, and nobody in their right mind would suggest you actually indulge in the microtransactions, so the game is just boring and annoying. Some of the add-ons do bring in content that's worth your time, but the game overall is very bad, and the add-ons don't fix anything enough for it to deserve your investment.    … Expand

    it's always been fine, it's gotten better also.
    Yes it has a lot of issues.
    Yes its not a normal Fallout game.

    The company was however always honest about what kind of gam it was (Yes Bethesda should be shouted out over the luancher/bag) But a lot of people clearing are just mad that it's not what they want, instead of not what it said it would be.

    All that being said, 5/10....

    Even someone with patience has to really try hard not to throw something at the screen when the connection problems hit.
    January 2 2021, killing a legendary assaultron in a building for a mission, got it down to 5% health and server disconnects. FU BETHESDA! January 15: 75hrs later    I'd love to give a good review for this but I'm "Waiting for response from Server, please stand by...".

    Как по мне игра не плохая, в чём плюс , прошло больше 2 ух лет, а она продолжает развиваться. По мне это больше одиночная игра , нежели онлайн , тут кому как.     I bought this game for PS4 at launch. It was without a doubt, one of the worst, most buggiest, boring and downright annoying games I have ever played.
    I've recently downloaded it using xbox live game pass, playing on P.C.
    If you put all bethesda's dodgy dealings and goings on aside and look at what they have done with this game since, its absolutely astonishing.     The graphics are slightly dated and the combat similiar to older games but the introduction of N.P.C's has really made this game into a true fallout experience.

    I am so happy that Bethesda didn't just bin this game and that they stayed true to their word in the end.

    This game for me is about on par with F04.

    The game at first is OK, overall the game is extremely boring and lackluster. If they copy and pasted Fallout 4 and just paid attention to the multi-player aspect the game would be a lot better. The multiplayer aspect is close to useless. Comparing the game play to Fallout 4, there is close to no improvement.

    That's a great game. Slow exploration of the huge world, history of Fallout's world on the terminal among empty, left buildings with a ton of danger. After 2 years from release it's great game. Very recommend it, if you like survival, realtime RPG with exploration. For fun you can go with your friend online.

    Who in the world at Bethesda took a look at this game and thought, "hmm, this can be released to the public". It's bottom line disgusting and horrible. I am a fan of the Fallout franchise and its lore, but this just disgraced me. Everything about it is a mess, except for the graphics, which are 1% better than Fallout 4's graphics. Worst. Game. Ever.

    I did genuinely enjoy the base game.
    But instead of putting real effort into fixing the game, instead they focused on adding in monetization features, and each time they "fix" something 10 more things get worse.     Bethesda have made it clear they just don't care, and are incapable of releasing a polished game.
    Hell have any of their fallout and elderscrolls games in recent decades ever been polished?
    I don't think they have, they like to release broken games, and let the community fix it for them.
    but when they cannot rely on the community to repair their game, you get the mess that is FO76.
    While there could be a great game here, bethesda wont be able to deliver it.

    Fallout 76 is by no means an award winning game, but its no where near deserving of the hate bashing its been getting, seems the hate is being thrown in large part by the ignorant masses who have not actually taken any time to try the game, or even find real information about it, the amount of misinformation about the games content is crazy, and those who immediately want to hate it jump on the fake news and just ignore anyone trying to tell them otherwise.

    YES the game was very overpriced on release, but prices have come down, the game is NOT empty, there is a LOT of content that will keep you going for some time, the game is set to release periodic content updates to keep more coming in, including new vaults opening and new factions cropping up.

    You are playing though as one of the first people to leave a vault, of course there is not the same level of life as the other games, it makes sense.

    The game plays pretty much like Fallout 4, with a few extra bells and whistles, and MP added on top to make it a small scale MMO.

    The game has its issues, but its NOT a broken disaster that others would have you think.
    I dont have a high end system, i57600k 8gb ram and a 1070, and i run this on max graphics at 1080p
    with a solid 60 fps, i get the occasional hiccup but a lot of that could be server related, the servers where not set that well, but have been getting regular stability updates, and its gotten better.

    If you are interested in the game, don't listed to the hate train, its lying to you.
    If you liked fallout 4, there is a VERY high chance you will like 76 and play the hell out of it.    … Expand

    The Map is awesome. I really enjoy the atmosphere of the game and it feels really good playing. But well yeah its a mess of bugs the storry sucks there is no text chat, PVP is the worst and micro transactions. Worth buying? If you have friends to play yes, if not no

    Fa schifo, pieno di bug che non ti permettono neanche di andare avanti nelle missioni. Arrivando alla fine della missione principale mi sono ritrovato a ripetere di dungeon 3 volte trovando 3 bug diversi impedendomi di proseguire.
    Bethesda anziché trovare una soluzione e correggere questi errori ha scritto una guida sul loro sito, che sorpresa sorpresa, anche la guida è sbagliata! Patetici.

I played Fallout 4 twice the reason being I started with that installment of the series and the second time around was playing it understanding all the tools and ways to achieve victory using my own creativity. The first 10 levels can be very tough and most are tempted to quit, not enough water, food, and decent guns and ammo. You need a strategy, a creative one and I like that about the game. When you make a camp remember to not leave it unattended because some of the players have taken on the role of a Raider. I overcome this by keeping a small camp with the bare essentials and quickly packing it in its theft proof case before I leave, so in a sense, there are still Raiders in this game but they are players like you but with a different agenda. I think that in a way this makes it more real life don't invite strangers into your home kind of common sense.

    I don't wear the same clothes every day, treat this game like a new outfit and you'll enjoy it very much.    … Expand

How can I even rate this game above 0 when I cant even manage to play it in the first place.     Not my type of game at all. I have completed all the previous iterations of the franchise and enjoyed every one. But not this. There are plenty of problems but for me the compulsory PvP is the killer. I play several online multiplayer games, none of which force PvP in the way that Fallout 76 does.

    While you CAN play this game solo, it is not a solo game. Everything in this game is built around group play whether you like it or not. Most quest at start can be done solo but once you start to get to the later part you NEED to be in a group. You also need to plan your build WAY in advance before you even start the game, one mistake and your build is no good at all. Needs a better way to respec your character other then FOCRING you to play more just so you can move points around and this can ONLY be done AFTER you hit lvl 50. Also, gear SUCKS! You have to grind for HOURS in hopes that you just get lucky to get a piece of gear they may work for your build (And you almost never will) So your best bet is to track said gear down online and pay CASH for it. Also, Daily Ops is a joke! Any type of stealth build WILL NOT WORK. Burnt through a few hundred caps of aid items, most of my gear gear gets broken ( from 200% condition) and spent more time dead than running the Op. Just can not stand playing this game any more.

    On the plus side, the Atomic Shop works fine for taking your money....................    … Expand

Also there are lots of bugs, even still after one year, albeit not game-breaking and mostly of visual nature, it will throw some people off.

    Update for Wastelanders:
    I still don't think Fallout 76 comes close to the other Singleplayer Fallout games, but its gotten better over the recent updates. I still hate the multiplayer aspects, the game as a service-model, and the in-game microtransactions, though.

    Well, they **** it up by introducing a genuine GAS aspect.

After playing this game for hundreds of hours, trying to find the 'fallout' in it, I've been greatly disappointed in the games many problems and embarrassing errors they should have fixed before putting this piece of work on the market (especially at a $60 price tag). There was really only 1 thing I found good about this game...and a lot bad.

    Pros - game has great exploration; graphics are perhaps above average for this era.

    Cons - (1) interface is archaic - I have no idea who was overseeing the interface designer, but they should have been fired. From clunky combinations and multiple menus to get to something that should have only taken 1 to key combinations that conflict with others (such as exit power armor and inviting someone to your team, the interface of this game is simply embarrassing to say the least, especially for a company like Bethesda.
    (2) poor/ambiguous PVP elements - from having pacifist mode to being attacked by a high level player and having them whittle me away to nothing (though I am pacifist and don't want to PVP), I found their PVP system to be pretty much garbage. You either are making your game PVP and forcing others to PVP or you aren't. Make up your mind, Beth-tardesda. I personally don't care to PVP and I don't want to be forced into it. But they don't give any explanation of how PVP works. You just sorta have to find out when in game. and pray you've deposited all your scrap in your stash beforehand.
    (3) Bugs. Honestly, this game should be sueable simply by the amount of bugs it has--not just minor bugs--but game breaking bugs. Crash to desktop bugs, which happen regularly--to regularly to be acceptable. Perhaps every 30 minutes or more often. Lag bugs, where creatures are hitting you and/or you them when you've loaded an area, but you can't see anything. Glitch bugs where creatures arms/legs/body is distorted like 20 feet in the air when dead...or creatures being stuck under the ground during a settlement quest or other, making it impossible to finish the quest. The bugs and utter lack of quality assurance in this area break this game. I can take all the things I thought were nice about it and put them in the pot and piss on them. Because it doesn't matter how much of a 'good game' you could have had, if its so damn riddled with bugs it's unplayable. And that is what this game is. It's absolute garbage. I honestly hope they get sued and run out of business. Shame on them for releasing this game about 6 months sooner than it should have been.
    With that said, I say, "no, No, NO!" Don't buy this. Don't even think of buying this. I wouldn't even buy it if it was on sale for $15. It's not even worth that. If they were to ever work out the bugs, the game still wouldn't pass with a 7. WHich brings me to my next con...
    (4) Balancing - I think they nerfed good loot. Haven't seen a decent weapon or armor piece in almost 2 weeks of continual farming. But besides that, you just don't get any good loot or bosses or anything like that at low level. From around L1-40, you're stuck trying to find events around the map and doing the main quests...and pretty much nothing else. No point in farming. There is nowhere to farm. No places, other than those wolf quests, to farm low level legendaries. And once you get 40-50 (and you could do it sooner, if you're careful or use power armor), you go to Whitesprings. But once you're there, that's about it. You level...and level....and do the scorch queen when it's up...and then go back to leveling at Whitesprings. Or maybe Watoga. End game in this useless game is a joke. 0/10 for End game.
    WIth that said, don't waste your time on this game. Don't even buy it if it's on sale for $5.00. It will be the biggest waste of your $5 bill you ever did.    … Expand

    Game can give some fun for like 20 hours. Until lvl 20 it was pretty okay, after that everywhere I've moved I've encountered opponents on lvl +48 which absolutely blocked me with any progress in main quest and side stories. Great music and exploration as always but everything else like engine, design etc would be great when released in 2013.

    I continue to try and like this game and can't. It is fun and exciting for the first week until you realize the gameplay loop is unchanging and very boring. You will have to visit the same places every day to farm plastic or metal to make ammo so you can farm plastic or metal to make ammo. As a fan of the Fallout series this was a huge disappointment. Very little to do in a huge map.

    Being now 2 years later, i no longer need to give this game a plain 0.
    But it's still too little, too late.
    Now it feels like a mere DLC to fallout 4, with some more crafting here and there plus a decent storyline with true RPG quests.

    With recent updates like wastelanders, this game has seen significant improvement. However, this game still has a long road ahead until it becomes at least 1 7/10. If you really like fallout and are okay with some - by far not has many at launch - bugs, I would recommend this game on sale. Other then that, wait some more. Personally, I find it okay.

    Wonderful game. More atmosphere, more exploring now with friends. People who did not like this game just don't understand its essence.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game does not resemble what fallout used to be. I understand putting your own kick into it after you bought it from interplay and obsidian. But to take it this far and to butcher the franchise is just disgusting. F3 was good, FNV (interplay) was good, F4 was good, where did Bethesda go wrong? By not listening to the community and trying to shovel money offers into their community at an insane amount, more than EA. Wish you could hit a rewind button and go back to when Fallout had some glory left in it or some shred of story and character development. Fallout tactics is more Canon than this turd in a dress. The community needs to come together and vote whether it is or isn't canon.… Expand

Everyone knows about the controversies like the deceptive marketing with nuka-rum, micro transactions, info leak, canvas bags and bugs. Bethesda has been flat out greedy with the release of this game, and all evidence points towards it. High price tag, atomic shopFallout 76 is the biggest disappointment out of any game I've ever bought, and quite possibly the worst game I've ever bought. Everyone knows about the controversies like the deceptive marketing with nuka-rum, micro transactions, info leak, canvas bags and bugs. Bethesda has been flat out greedy with the release of this game, and all evidence points towards it. High price tag, atomic shop (micro transactions which has non cosmetics now), fallout 1st, and now the new armor packs. Bethesda wants to charge you $13 a month for something that should be free in game, limitless storage. Not to mention these power armor suits you can buy for $20 a piece should be included in game as well. Additionally Fallout 76 has run "exclusive skin" events both in game and through Twitch prime (along with the NCR ranger armor from fallout 1st). Bethesda has outright refused to add these "exclusive skins" to the atomic shop for no reason. Benny's suit from fallout new vegas was included in one of these exclusive twitch prime bundles. I wasn't able to get it and the one time I'm willing to pay money for a cosmetic they refuse. They are locking in game content behind hurdles that shouldn't even exist. Now they have an upcoming season pass, which sounds a lot like a battle pass from fortnite. They even banned players who were making mods (not the cheating kind), reporting exploits, and even banned a player that made a map tool.

    Although this is a multiplayer game, you will be all by yourself most of the time. Honestly, this should have just been an expansion for fallout 4. All the problems with this game both in game and pr disaster make me not want to play it at all and I'm infuriated as I was pre-orderer and an original B.E.T.A tester. The game ran better at beta than it did at launch.

    Bethesda handled fallout 76 so poorly that I decided not to buy Doom Eternal (they added denuvo and screwed over Mick Gordon) so my suspicions were ultimately confirmed. I have no faith in bethesda at this point and currently have no intentions of buying Elder Scrolls 6.

    Also, Bethesda being stubborn and forcing players to use their terrible launcher was dumb, and they have since "corrected" this by putting it on steam. But guess what, atoms don't transfer to steam because screw you. At least they allowed some of their purchases to have a free copy on steam. (as if that would make up for all the other terrible things they've done)

    Players also wanted to have private servers, they wanted to host it themselves. Nope, you gotta pay bethesda to do it for you.

    This is $79.99 and many hours of my time and frustration I will never get back.    … Expand

    I originally gave this game a 0 and pointed out its many flaws that it had at the time. I'm very pleased the team has been able to patch this game and improve it so much over what I was playing back in Dec. Now, it's not only fun to play, but there's a ton to do whether you have an hour to play, or a whole day.

    With the next patches and the roadmap that was provided, it looks like this game is only going to continue to get better. It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but give it a shot if you're a fan of Fallout and want to join other Wastelanders in Appalachia. If multiplayer isn't your thing, stick to Adventure mode and stay away from the griefers in Survival.

    Edit after Fo1st: if you're into cash grabs, go ahead and pick this up. Everything is monetized now and the bugs are still prevalent. Don't waste your time as there's tons of other good games out there.

    Somehow this game went from bad, to good(with a ton of potential), but due to Bethesda's greed it's not worth your time anymore.    … Expand

    Quite a time passed since game's release.
    What was added: more cashgrabs.
    What was not added: enjoyable bug-less gameplay.

    Trying to love this game since its release. The concept is good - but gods! how bad the execution is!

    Stay away from this game. Even if it would be the last multiplayer-only game in the world - just stay away.

    Having played, and liked, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas (with all dlc), also started Fallout 4 but no liked it (lack of "charism", "commun" characters, **** dialogues.. ). I don't understand the bashing of Fallout 76, it has the great immersion of Fallout, with all things which missed before, a deep crafting, all the loots are useful now, the rpg/survival progression is excellent, greatHaving played, and liked, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas (with all dlc), also started Fallout 4 but no liked it (lack of "charism", "commun" characters, **** dialogues.. ). I don't understand the bashing of Fallout 76, it has the great immersion of Fallout, with all things which missed before, a deep crafting, all the loots are useful now, the rpg/survival progression is excellent, great quests, PNJ are often "funny", the multi is an awesome addition (aids, trades, fights), the Fallout world is really alive now, with frequent events (rescue a nuclear plant, beat a big monster with other players...). The PVP system is also great, for example, if a high level player attack you, don't reply and the damage will be very low, so you can escape, if he kill you, he's marked as "criminal" and other players could attack him ;) otherwise, you can fight as usual, the good thing is, when a lower level try to catch your "treasure" you can shoot him a bit, to keep the place ;)
    If course, it would have been even better with an Obsidian script ;)    … Expand

We are ignoring how much this game has to offer in exploration and immersion because of glitches, poor performance and janky gameplay.

    But what if we had a game the exact opposite, no immersion, no exploration, no soul but utterly perfect performance, smooth gameplay and zero glitches? It would be rated extremely highly (see DOOM, HL:Alyx, Outer Worlds, et al.) This is a problem because we as gamers are saying we are incapable of putting up with a few engine problems and want utterly seamless experiences even if they are are empty and devoid of soul or creativity. We are saying we prefer a polished turd to a rough diamond. And that says more about our puerility as gamers than the gaming industry itself. We are the problem because they can only sell us what we are buying.

    People prefer lack of friction over elevating gaming experiences because of a few small problems. Instead of putting up with a few issues to experience something that will inevitably fill us with a feeling of elevation, we want totally sterile, clinical games that more or less turn our brains to mush.

    If people boycott the only even slightly good game that has been made in years because of engine problems and are now retro-actively ****ting on all of Bethesda's previous games as if 'Oh I never really liked those games anyway' then the future of gaming is very grim, and that's why I am rating game 9/10 because Bethesda to me is the only big game developer left still capable of making games full of any semblance of soul. And the day Bethesda stops making games is the day AAA gaming dies.    … Expand

    The graphics are horrendous, you would think that after the fallout 4 they surely will bring that game that will be improved or at least on par with Fallout 4...right? right? ...well no, SOMEHOW they downgraded graphical wise

Maybe if you want to solo the game, then it is maybe just about playable, if you enjoy being attacked by NPC's and not being able to attack back (they have aim lock). But if you want to get this game and play with friends (IE the "Online Co-Op" feature), then be prepared for the most cancerous game-play you have ever witnessed. Now,This is, unironically, the worst game i have ever played. For example: for some people you will periodically not be able to move your character in the game, you need to go into setting files to change the FPS cap, need to go into settings to remove depth of field, you have to complete every single quest twice because it only advances the story of the party leader (my personal favorite), your character only has to ability to sprint (actually jog) 30-40metres, dehydration is a thing, I think that is about it although I'm sure there is much more. Oh also, sometimes you cant tab back into the game. Please dont waste your money on this game, although it is almost worth it just to laugh at how bad it is.… Expand

    Fallout 76 represents a big disappointment and the lowest point of the series so far. Riddled with bugs, repetitive and dull gameplay, nonexistent story and outdated graphics, it fails as a both multiplayer and singleplayer experience for fans and newcomers alike.

    Miracles do happen once in a while and No Man’s Sky proved that sometimes it is possible to get back on your feet even after a terrible failure. Right now though Fallout 76 is botched spectacularly on so many levels that even talking about this game is a waste of time. [01/2019, p.46]
