    If you liked DOOM 2016, then DOOM Eternal is going to satisfy you. There's some slight differences and some new mechanics that make it feel more modern. While I prefer the old school style of DOOM 2016 for the simplicity, Eternal is still an amazing addition to the series.

    Gameplay on the harder skills is tough as nails, you'll be swarmed by enemies and weapon switches can't come fast enough. Bind your weapons properly, it'll be fine, trust me. It reminds me of Serious Sam, Quake, Unreal Tournament 2004 all rolled into one.

And Ive waited so long for games to look like advertised. Stand anywhere in Doom Eternal, stop and look around you. Look at the sky, the clouds, the floor. Look at the detail, design and layout.     Doom has evolved, it had to, it should do. You can play Doom I, II and Final in ZDoom wirh PSX soundfiles (which I really recommend) and all the 3d graphics glory that your old Voodoo couldnt handle, if you really want to revisit the Doom series. And you should, its worth it. But this? Wow. this is like Unreal Tournament meets Doom 2.

    Purists will say that the difference between this and the original Doom series is so wide that this blurs the boundaries of what game you can call Doom or not. But hear me on this, I DON'T CARE! This game is like Quake and Painkiller both better games than original Doom or **** tier Doom 3.

    There is far more to unravel in Eternal than just "here is gun, make demons go boom". The game requires strategy and reflexes. When you hear that heavy metal music, it's time to fight like hell with both brains and brawn.

    It excels at everything the 2016 Doom introduced and pushes that to a highly more adrenaline fuel rush than anything you've experienced before. It's faster, it's bigger and it's more Doom. It's a true blast to play!

    Let's start off by saying I loved DOOM 2016, It was very fast paced, had amazing gunplay and the glory kills were so awesome. Now for me DOOM Eternal is just like DOOM 2016 but everything has been improved.     Let's start off by saying I loved DOOM 2016, It was very fast paced, had amazing gunplay and the glory kills were so awesome. Now for me DOOM Eternal is just like DOOM 2016 but everything has been improved. The graphics have of course been improved, but the visuals have also drastically changed. The background of each level is so unique and cool, for example in the first level with that huge monster in the background, every level has a unique feel to it. The demon models have also been improved and the glory kills are as cool as ever, and super graphic and I love that! Also that soundtrack, my god that soundtrack is SO GOOD!! One of the best soundtracks ever made for a video game for sure, that really compliments the gameplay well, it really makes you feel so badass and when that heavy metal drops you feel invincible.

    The gameplay is what makes or breaks a DOOM game, and DOOM 2016 really nailed the gunplay and then DOOM Eternal walks in and of course improves upon it. The guns are so fun to use and they all have a purpose. I always felt that the pistol from DOOM 2016 was so useless but I can't think of a single weapon in DOOM Eternal that was useless or bad. The game also runs so smoothly, it's amazing with how fast paced the game is it still ran so smoothly, I don't think I experienced one major frame drop. That's also one thing to keep in mind, this game is very and I mean very fast paced, you need to be on your toes for pretty much the entire game if you're playing on higher difficulties. This is not a normal FPS where you camp somewhere and try to get headshots. In DOOM you face your enemy head on, get right in their face, because that's how you stay alive, health drops from enemies. Even the platforming which was my least favorite part of DOOM 2016 has been improved and is actually fun. The gameplay is absolutely fantastic and I never felt bored once, which is an amazing achievement because even some of my favorite games can have boring moments.

    The story of DOOM games has never been the focal point, however I'm happy to report that despite this, DOOM Eternal brings a pretty enjoyable story that really commends the chaos of the gameplay. The story is just as crazy as the gameplay at points, which creates very enjoyable moments. There's not more I can say about the story without spoiling it so I'm going to leave it here.

    Overall, DOOM Eternal is one of my favorite games of 2020 and might actually also be one of my favorite games of all time, and that's not an exaggeration. The graphics, visuals, soundtrack, story and most importantly gameplay with heavy emphasis on the combat are all really great. I honestly don't have anything "bad" to say about the game, there might be some grudges but that's not enough to ruin the experience or even altar it. This is what I would call a perfect FPS. I've never been a huge fan of FPS games but DOOM just reinvents the genre.

    Great DOOM game i love the mobility in eternal so much better then 2016 and the fast paced in your face action makes it very fun to play now if it had a multiplayer like this with some more strafe like q4 and the boost movements and not battle mode the game would be perfect !

    DOOM Eternal has became my favorite shooter of all time. For a game I expected to suck it completely surprised me at how true it was to the original with a mix of quake and painkiller. It was fast paced, intense, had great enemy and weapons variety and a kick-ass soundtrack.

    Everything I loved about the first game carries over here and all the new added features were great additions such as the flamethrower, blood punch, dash, and especially the grapple. The level design also is improved here and the added mobility is great. The story wasn't all that special but the added lore was cool.     This game did it man. The beginning is a bit rough but once you get past that bit it's so enjoyable beginning to the end. I love this game so much and I can't recommend not enough to anybody who loves these high adrenaline games. 10/10

    + A nicely challenging video game, rare thing to say for a lot of 2020 titles.

    Negatives:
    - The game has loads of weapons and modifications for each of them. That would be overwhelming to most people I imagine, learning all of them is quite the task, so during my playthrough I used only a handful of them, which work with my playstyle.
    - Battlemode does not sound that interesting to me, sure you have other players with you, but the amount of demons you get during the campaign would be quite enough. That said I have not actually played it, as the campaign is what matters to me.
    - The "story" is more serious, so to speak, in this one, which doesn't appeal to me and I would imagine it won't appeal to others too. Doom has always been gameplay, AKA slay everything in your way and have as much fun as possible type of game for me.    … Expand

    There is really no need for introduction here - Doom is THE shooter that aims to keep you on your toes from start to finish. Filled with beautifully crafted level designs, incredibly detailed enemies and astonishing soundtrack, I think every fan of the FPS genre should play this game, or at least this franchise.

As a side note, it is important to mention that difficulty settings play a crucial role in the game because their adequacy to your gaming skills determines whether you would have a positive or a negative impression from the walkthrough.     DOOM Eternal is a role model for all shooters that aspire to create an engaging and challenging experience for gamers. As a side note, it is important to mention that difficulty settings play a crucial role in the game because their adequacy to your gaming skills determines whether you would have a positive or a negative impression from the walkthrough. Conversely, the story is not the strongest part of the game; no, let me put it differently - the lore is quite rich and thought-through, but the game lacks in the ability to present this lore to the player in the appropriate manner.

    Be that as it may, DOOM Eternal is perfect in what it was designed for, that is - shooting and killing hellish creatures, both from the shooting perspective per se and its platforming entourage. For performing the demon executions, the protagonist a.k.a. the Doom Slayer has a plethora of different “devices”, ranging from shotgun and rifle to rocket launcher and ballista. Some say it is even possible to get the iconic BFG (however, unfortunately, I did not manage to obtain it). The platforming, in its turn, is not overwhelming but convenient and fun, thus presents itself as a cool addition to the main mechanics rather than as an obsolete burden. As a result, the seamless combination of the shooting and platforming helps to create a captivating gaming experience, not letting the player get bored.

    Nonetheless, for such an amazing “degustation” of the game, the choice of the game difficulty is paramount. Should you set your settings too high - and you risk ending up bogged up in repetitive grinding to get the necessary improvements without which it is pretty damn reckless to move on. Or, there is a possibility that one battle arena or some boss would prove unbeatable on the highest difficulty settings (dear speedrunners, not everyone is as talented as you are); hence, the frustration might even prevent an overachieving player from actually finishing the game. On the other hand, the easiest difficulty level is, well, too easy. Namely, there is never a shortage of ammunition, health and armor, and extra lives continue to pile up because a hard enough challenge never occurs. In this scenario, the possibility of leaving the game unfinished is also quite high because where there is no challenge, there is no excitement. In brief, I would recommend opting for the difficulty settings somewhere between the two extremes.

    A blot on the landscape - the story presentation. In my opinion, this aspect of the game is pretty weak. I mean, the cutscenes and short dialogues only present the story to the player on a need-to-know basis, like “here is your enemy, kill it”. This situation is pretty ironic because the game lore itself is worth looking into but is hidden under a large massive of text in the “codex” page. Yes, I know, DOOM is not an RPG with a divaricated dialogue system and a possibility of making important choices that influence the course and the ending of the game. And yes, maybe too much story would distract the player from holding on to what the game was initially designed for, that is slaying “alternatively alive” monsters. I just think a little more context would be in order.

    In any case, DOOM Eternal is a solid piece of gaming art, one of the best in its genre and, with the right approach, could deliver a cornucopia of emotions, ranging from anger and sort of “ambitious powerlessness” to exhilaration and happiness after clearing another stage. Even without knowing exactly why you need to do all of this stuff.

    Nice step up from Doom 2016 in terms of gameplay. It takes a while to get used to the new mechanics of dashing around and being very mobile but once you do it's about the most fun you can have in a singleplayer FPS. Many QoL improvements to help you find all the secrets. One of the few FPS games I fully enjoyed.

    The gameplay is next level and its definitely one of my favourite games of all time. Also the dlc is amazing and well worth the price and the optimization is really good.

    Devs did best imrovements that one could imagine. Eternal is superfast - dash is probably the most incredible thing that a shooter of this lvl actually needed (also monkeybars and trampolines). Add to this an awesome shooting strategy (chainsaw for ammo, glorykill - health, flamebelch - armor) and freaking SICK sound by Mick Gordon - Eternal has EVERYTHING a true fan of shooters need.

    When you actually finish the game and feeling like a better player afterward will surely make you feel something inside. Accomplishment? maybe. Shame? partly. But mostly just sad that its over. Anyways gotta go melt my face with adrenaline, brain works twice as fast now and real life is way too slow.

The final boss didn't feel threatening at all and I had no issues beating it. The soundtrack fits the ambiance and pace of the game so incredibly well. Time flies when I play this game and the immersion is complete, I highlySame as Doom 2016 but without the flaws the previous 2016 installment had.     Badass game. The amount of gore in this game is also quite amazing, as glory kills are very grotesque in the best way possible. You can easily see which demons you have attacked beforehand, as GIB mechanics make it possible to see the chunks of demon you have blown to bits.

    Probably one of the best single player, FPS of all times. Only would have been happier if there weren't quite so many maneuverability tests that were Mandatory (for us non-speed runners) throughout the levels.

    When DOOM came out in 2016, I was shocked of how good it was. When DOOM Eternal came out in 2020, I was shocked of how better is than DOOM (2016). This should say something.

    The game's mechanics are fascinating and put your reasoning and exploration skills to the test. The graphics are top notch and it's really well made though I did have two CTDs. Other than that, I didn't have any other technical issues of any importance. It was entertaining, fun to play and the story was good enough that it held my interest to the end.     Doom 2016 was a masterpiece. This doom eternal is a Mario with guns and rainbow flashes.
    Also platforming puzzles in FPS (sic!) are straight time trash. I didn't buy this game to perform some fckn cryptic jumps. I've bought an FPS for fcks sake!

    You are forced to play a certain way and that includes running away a lot and farming ammo/health/armor. After that you attack some more then farm again. Rinse and repeat. I played on Nightmare and difficulty was good for me. But I caught myself feeling it was more of a chore, a homework, to engage in combat rather than having fun.

    Dont get mer started on the jump puzzles.

    Too many mechanics for a simple but perfected action game. Its like they didnt know what to do with their sequel and just put everything they had from the 'idea box' and with the success of Doom 2016 there were no nay-sayers during development.

    The stages feel very 40k warhammer esque and not grounded in real world future as Doom 2016. Ammo and weapons pop like a childred cartoon show and doesnt fit well with the overall style.

    Story is there were no one asked for it, nor is it needed in a Doom game. The funny thing is that the developers became the very joke they themselves made about "unecessary story arcs" joke in Doom 2016. Doom isnt a story driven game as other very deep and captivating story games can be. In Doom 2016 it was handled perfect with juuust about the right amount. Here it is suuddenly very important and serious and edgy but that just results in "gringe". Doomguy shouldnt be anything else than a normal guy (who doesnt speak!!) who overcame the odds with his skill with weapons and lust for killing demons. No deep story, no prophecy, no "the one" BS.

    The good:
    Still good looking albeit worse in design than 2016. Very optimized for such a good looking game. Sound is very good. Action is sometimes fun.    … Expand

    Kickass game. Each special demon has a certain weakness, You gather different BADASS weapons as you move on with the missions. You can pick different runes/skills according to your playstyle which is just great.

    You can discover secrets in the stages and some collectibles help you improve your suit and stuff.I honestly don't want this game to end.The game introduces you new boss demons in certain missions,then those demons can spawn normally in demon stages mid-game.(If you are new to shooters don't choose normal difficulty.

    666/10 A must-have game for shooter fans.

    The satisfaction you get from the kills is immeasurable.And the cutscenes,oh man don't even get me started.You should see when normies encounter The Doomslayer.
    I play DOOM before workouts for Adrenaline boost,and listen to its Soundtrack during the workout.

However, if you want a fast-paced, visceral shooter full of non-stop action and outrageous violence, you can't do better than Doom Eternal. If you liked 2016's offering you will love this follow up.     Like Jason Statham’s character in Crank, Doom Eternal needs adrenaline every waking second. So long as you drown hordes of demons in their own blood, it feels like a perfect GOTY contender, but during quiet moments, Doom Eternal withers and forces you to ponder unpleasant questions. id Software needs to course-correct, otherwise we’ll be playing Super Doom Slayer’s Bros in a few years.
